Pssst... Hey, you wanna hear some cool tunes? Well, great news for ear-havers - the amazing Dev over at @tincanaudio is putting together a soundtrack for PITCRAWLER, inspired by our 10-adventure starter campaign “A Pitcrawler’s Progress”.

They’re streaming the creation over at twitch.tv/tincanaudio every Monday, and the VOD for the first one “Attack of the Sea Beast” is now up and sounds sick as hell.

Oh, and if you don’t fully understand why you should be excited, check out the tune they put together for our Crowdfunding campaign last year!

And if that doesn’t get you excited for a musical quest into prog rock and dungeon synth, then... that’s a shame. Go do something else, I guess. I’ll be over here ROCKING OUT!

Battle themes are a highlight of any game's OST, especially the ones reserved for big, bad bosses. There have been a couple of tournaments on our fair hellsite pertaining to this topic, but I'd like to get a bit more granular with this.

What is Tumblr's favorite RPG boss battle theme?

A few rules, before we begin:

Entrants must originate from an RPG and must play for boss battles. I will not be counting normal battle themes, even if they still play for boss battles. (My apologies to people who only like Final Fantasy I, if you exist.)

Please only submit one song per submission, and don't spam the same one over and over. Nobody likes a spammer. You can, however, absolutely submit multiple different songs that you like.

Only one song per franchise (or, if I don't get enough, one per game) will make it into the tournament proper. Final entrants will be decided through preliminary brackets.

For the love of god, be civil! Propaganda for your favorite songs is welcomed, but let's keep the mud-slinging to a minimum. At the end of the day, this is supposed to be about having fun, and drama and fighting will only get in the way of that.

Submissions will be open through the following week, or until I receive enough submissions that I deem an early closure necessary. I'm only one person, and even I have my limits.

I'll add links to other important posts on this one as things go along. For now, have fun submitting songs! I'm also open to asks, if there are any further questions!

oakley bear movement testing part. 2

this involves the oakley moving left, right up, down with diagonal movment animations too!! the walking up animation is still being developed and finalised, but it's slowly coming along! <3

right now we're focusing on footstep audio and particle effects & animations to suit the diagonal movement a bit more (to assist with the transition from moving right, up to straight up)

Last night I put up my new Adventure Synth album.

I got the BBC Symphony Orchestra VST from Spitfire Audio about a year ago and I almost immediately started writing this really epic cinematic thing and as soon as I had it sketched out I’m like “damn this sounds like a paladin song” and a switch flipped in my head: I should make a @tkingfisher themed Dungeon Synth album! That track became “Rediscovering Grace” which if you’ve read the paladin books, should make perfect sense to you. :)

I don’t think I’ve ever labored over a release as much as I did this one. I tweaked and re-tweaked and tweaked again until everything was just so. Listening over and over again in the car, on different headphones, taking notes and adjusting down to the level of, like, “flute down .5db” and such. It’s mostly been finished since the beginning of the year, with only Sarkis’s theme and the piano track at the end being done more recently.

I also, for the first time, commissioned artwork rather than bodging something together in photoshop. I couldn’t be more happy with Saga Mackenzie’s cover, it turned out so good.

Anyway, I hope you check it out. I’m really proud of this one and it feels great finally getting it out there.

Preorder is up now, and it goes live August 5th. It will go up on all the usual digital stores in the coming weeks as well.
