The tranquility of this Pueblo is like no other. Everybody smiles, the vibe is serene.

I stayed here for a month to get away from the world and it opened up my soul to so many new feelings and experiences. Poor phone service, no internet.. just you & your thoughts.

We returned to San Pancho and breathed a huge sigh of relief. The town seemed to hug us. We booked a cute little bungalow on a quiet side street and it was just so perfect. We went right away to our favorite streetside restaurant: Vero (short for the cook “Veronica”). Veronica only has three tables and runs it herself, taking orders and cooking the food. Her daily special is always something new: albondigas, mole, pescado frito, chilaquiles, chile relleno... Not only is the food muy delicioso, but we also love Veronica’s kind eyes and big smile. She said right away, “I didnt see you for a few days!” We learned that she grew up in San Pancho and only lives one block from the beach. She told us that her daughter attempted to get a visa to the United States, but was denied. It is moments like these that we wished our español was better to understand her more. We love making connections with people.

The next day, we stopped by for a final, delicious lunch of chile relleno at Vero. We bid her adios and walked to the main highway to catch our bus. We will miss charming San Pancho and its wonderful people. Such a great vibe, soothing to the soul! Go see for yourself and tell Veronica we said hi!

Next stop: Puerto Vallarta. Back to the big city we go!

My name is Emma Balneaves and I am a second year dental hygiene student at Camosun College. I have had to privilege to visit San Pancho Mexico and provide dental hygiene services to the local people within the community. It was an experience that I will forever remember especially because of all the amazing and talented people that we met.

Many of our clients were local natives of San Pancho, many of which were born and bread in the beautiful beach town. Each person we met was beyond welcoming, and they were all so appreciative and grateful of our presence within their beautiful town. We walked the streets and often heard the children holler “hola dentistas,” while running up next to us waving. It was beyond humbling to see just how happy they were when they saw us, and it is so special knowing that in a short two-week trip we were able to have such a positive impact on the community and the people within.

We had the opportunity to partake in many of the local events such as the live music, live dance, and my personal favourite the circus. It was so riveting watching the local artists perform in the streets and entertain the visiting tourists. Let’s just say it was never a dull moment, and whether it was the local venders, or the local street dancers, San Pancho was always exuding fun and excitement.

San Pancho has so much to offer, and the streets, yet so rich with history are so full of youth. I cannot wait for my next visit, I know there will be many more to come in the future, and I would recommend this opportunity to any student within the dental hygiene program looking to gain clinical experience, and worldly knowledge.
