It has been less than 30 days into 2024 and I am ready for it to be over. The audacity of some people.

It’s shocking, how often it happens. Now I want you to think about what you would do if you heard a someone telling a complete stranger at midnight; “…to go into the woods up the street and go behind the trees pull there pants down and take care of business.”

I know exactly what you’re thinking excuse me what?!? Can we get some more details??? Of course you can; picture this….

It’s 12:15 I’m out with a friend headed home but I have to pee >bad< and we’re still 30+ minutes from home. Boom! My friend is driving and sees a 711 and parks while I run in. As soon as I enter the 711 (817 Baker Road Va Beach) I see two “gentleman”behind the counter and another guy waiting for his cooking {food} so I proceed to ask if they have a restroom I can use? He tells me •no• so I thank them and walkout, as the doors closing I hear him call for me, I turn around to see why he called for me. I then turned back around assuming I have yet again dropped something and didn’t realize it)

That is when this •middle aged stranger/711 employee• tells me “ I need to go up the street; find the area that has a bunch of big trees; go behind them pull my pants down and take care of business.” now this is a shortened version of this scary statement and conversation I found myself apart of in the middle of the night, already in the middle of a massive panic attack >thank god for panic disorder< while two grown men just stand there and laugh and agree with me when I remind them that If you are convicted of indecent exposure or obscene sexual display as a third or subsequent offense, there would be a mandatory requirement that you register as a sex offender on the Sex Offender Registry. As I quickly rushed out of the 711 back to my friend; physically shaking from the entire situation the worker who made the original comment tried to get me to come back inside by calling after me laughing.

Let me point out that this entire situation happened in VaBeach who was ranked as the #1 safest city in America in June of 2020. A store employee; you know the ones your supposed to ask for help; a complete stranger who I have never met before this moment; therefore he has no idea how old I am (if I’m even over the age of 18) before making comments about me pulling my pants down.

As we drove away; my heart became just a little bit heavier and as I cried.

I thought about teenagers stopping in late at night for snacks before they have to be home. I thought of those two adults who stayed quiet. I thought about the college students who come at all hours of the night because they are within walking distance. And I pray for there safety. I thought about the worker who was so comfortable that he could say whatever he wanted without having any consequences.

This is not okay, there is not a single person who deserves to fear for there safety while simply living, much less over a simple question.

No matter who you are where you are in the world stop look around you, safety starts in watching out for those around us, say something if you can, if you can’t call your local law enforcement agency immediately and record everything

I didn’t want to say anything on this because it’s not an easy subject to bring up but I’m seeing it all over tumblr. That poor school in Texas has more deaths than Sandy Hook. The fact that we can just stand idly by while our children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc. are getting brutally murdered day in day out because there’s no restrictions on guns is not okay. The Supreme Court says no more abortions yet they don’t say anything about gun control. We’re trained to know what to do in case of a lockdown but they don’t consider that it would be different than having an active shooter on campus. Yes he had mental health issues but that does not excuse nor justify those fourteen kids and that teacher dying. That week it wasn’t just Texas. There were 10 school shootings that week. T e n. So until the Supreme Court or the senate or literally just anybody does something about this problem it’s just going to keep repeating itself. Why should we have to stand by and protest and make posts like this in hopes that it will change something when changes should already be in progress? We shouldn’t. My sister’s school got a shooting threat once and everyone was so god damn terrified that there were about five kids in each of her classes. Our mom forced her to go because she said a real shooter wouldn’t post that they were going to shoot up a school on social media. But what is that? A warning sign. Even if nothing ended up happening there were still warning signs and someone should have reported something but no one did. There could have very well been no threat at all if someone said something. Or my sister’s school could have ended up like that school in Texas. Kids die every single day for no reason. It’s not fair and it’s not right. “If you are justice please do not lie, what is the price you pay for your blind eye?” Politicians are turning a blind eye to all this. The longest this hellhole of a country has ever gone without a school shooting was while we were in lockdown. That speaks volumes. Don’t overturn Roe vs. Wade, Don’t overshadow the war, don’t stand by in the war, don’t let Amber Heard win, and most importantly don’t let decades more of tragedies like this one ensue.

When the burdens in your mind add up, sometimes you just feel like your only option left is to run.

While this may literally mean, you run. It could be you eat more food than you needed, drank more drink than you should, try to numb the burdens with drugs, but none of those make the burdens go away.

One of my new kiddos I work with tonight made it over 6 miles as she attempted to walk away from her problems. Just to be more lost, scared, and alone. Brought back to me in a deputy car, covered in ticks, mosquito bites, but still carrying her burdens. The deputy told her, “you really must talk about it.”

So we sat in rocking chairs and talked for a bit. She only swiped the surface of the things really bothering her. Most of them are so little, but she’s afraid to share the little things. Why? Because her own family was abusing her, and she spoke up to her guardians. When she did, they turned their backs on her and choose to continue not protecting her.

So I defended her from some ticks, I offered a shoulder on the couch, and grace. I found a romance comedy to watch til 3am and I tried to bring some normalcy. I may never win her trust, but I am willing to try.

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.

I fucking hate when people say stuff like this. Especially when it's on a generally good post with valuable information. On the one hand I want to share that information because it could genuinely help someone; on the other, I don't want to spread this type of guilt-tripping and shaming and potentially trigger someone else like me. It's a lose-lose situation. No matter what I do, I am going to feel guilty. No matter what I do, I will feel like a terrible person. It sucks and I just wish people would stop doing this.
