As those who know me are aware, I own a lot of GoldenEye/Bond merch. And guess what? Up above are my latest arrivals 🙃 But unlike all my previous stuff, I decided to make a post this time—mostly because of how thankful I am to the people who acquired/made them for me.

First picture: my very own, old, battered GE cartridge, signed by none other than the good doctor David Doak and composer extraordinaire Grant Kirkhope + a surprise American cartridge (and a bunch of 90s, Russia-themed National Geographics...)

I mentioned in a previous post that one of my preciouses was on the way back from Arizona. Well there it is :D The one cartridge that started it all, the one reason I'm out and about professing my love for all things GE okay mostly Alec... now signed by not just one, but two of the amazing people who made it. I don't have enough thanks to give to @prismatic-bell, who not only managed to get it signed for me, but also sent back all those lovely bonuses along with it srsly ilu nyan.

A sweet little thing courtesy of my fellow Frenchman (and GE creator...) Making the Mine ! Absolutely in love with it I might or might not be pushing the button every so often, and I'm so so glad to have sneaked on Instagram just to strike up conversation with the man! Also was a pleasure to meet up IRL... and now I look forward to adding more to my newly started mine collection, hehe.

5. Describe their cozy night in.

On a deliberate night in (verses just the normal routine), perhaps a night before deployment, they limit the news time. In fact, they don't turn on the television at all. That's for their work brains, and they can read the paper in the morning or someone will contact them if it's urgent.

They either order something nicer than usual and bake dessert, or they take the time to try old favorite recipes out. It's a novelty to not have to rush through takeout to keep working on other things. If they're both in the mood to bake, they listen to short stories on tape or old songs they love as they do the work. They occasionally pause things to add commentary, but for the most part they enjoy listening and doing something productive rather than having to come up with conversation topics.

When they started this, they tried to tell stories about their day or silly things while they baked, but then they just would wind each other up with stress from work, and so they push off stories until dinner or after, now.

If one of them isn't in the mood to cook/bake, or they're dividing their tasks (one makes dinner, one dessert), then while the other is working they will read aloud to them from one of the reader's favorites. They tried to keep to reading the same book back and forth for a while, but they both will read ahead if they get hooked, and then they aren't in the same place. This way, if the person new to the book gets hooked and reads ahead, they can just get to talking about it faster. And be slightly suspicious of when that person had the time.

There definitely are debates over dinner, on a variety of subjects. Half of them are legit, half of them are someone playing devil's advocate to get a reaction or see what the other person really thinks.

After dinner is either time for someone's beloved movie or more reading aloud, as they review the kit of the person heading to the field (almost always Nyx, at this point), deal with basic maintenance tasks for weapons and clothing, even household items (a reminder to come home to the house). They tried to make it straight movie time, but it feels wrong if they aren't being productive in some way, doing something with their hands. By around the midpoint of the evening that something tactile is usually holding the other person in some way.

15. Do they always say 'i love you' before leaving?

Only on the phone, when someone is far away. When there's not much other way to say it. Either during a lull in the conversation or before they hang up.

In person, not usually. A kiss on the hand or a squeeze of it, even just significant eye contact and a dip of the head if there are too many people around, is their affirmation before they leave. That's not to say they never say it, but usually not in the actual moment of departure.

25. Do they have any hobbies they share?

Reading, as you might have guessed. Though the subjects vary between them. Nyx likes narratives, scifi/fantasy that has a moral vision or lesson, mythology, history of people. He likes the why of things, the connections across time. He'll occasionally read philosophy, when it's practically applied. He'll read the occasional mystery because it's fun to connect the clues, but doesn't much care for spy thrillers or murder mysteries -- a little too much like work.

Cor reads, as you might expect, military history, and history of science. Practical mechanics, things like that. A lifelong learner of little things, anything that might be useful. Occasionally dabbles in mythology, but more to figure out the truth behind it rather than the truth later generations read into it like Nyx enjoys. Also romances (trashy or otherwise, the only difference is how much ridicule they get) as a byproduct of passing the time in the Guard as a kid, plus a holdover from trying to figure out what people were talking about with regard to romance.

Ohh! A fic you like?? Do tell!! I've absolutely loved some of the ones you recommended/said you were reading!

It's a "Tim enters the Batfam differently" fic and it's great with found family and hurt/comfort but also be SUPER aware the trigger warnings on this could kill a moose and should be taken very seriously. It is so good and when this fic ends I will sob a thousand tears.

All I want in life is to see Ocean at the End of The Lane adapted by Studio Ghibli to make my relationship with animation, art, and storytelling come full circle. Obviously unlikely but it honestly surprises me that Mr. Gaiman's work hasn't hit anime yet? I'm not a style mimicker but I wanted to try my hand at more digital background painting as well as creature design and this was really fun. I've wanted to see manta-wolves for ages and while I know I went at it very literally, I hope it still fits. This book means so much to me. I hope I did it some small justice.

Different Directions - Chapter 7. Worthwhile

The year cannot seem to end, Fai cannot stay dressed for long, and Syaoron just knows everything. And Watanuki? Watanuki tries to make the best of it.

For this chapter you will need omake Horitsuba Private High School: Excited for Celebrating New Years! There literal chunks of dialogue from there, so you might wanna know what was canon and how exactly I corrupted it >:) The song (Strangelove by Depeche Mode) is perfect for this chapter. If you ever noticed I take names of every chapter from corresponding songs, and this time it just tied everything into a neat thematic bow. We're getting to the darker places, so Watanuki's getting darker too. The exchange with Doumeki is a bit gloomy and raw, but so are both of them. Doumeki (just as Watanuki) can be rough in canon, while Watanuki is known to have troubles with self-worth and loneliness, making him prone to crave any emotion towards himself. Even negative ones. Have you ever noticed that Syaoron and Yuui are more of a plot devices than characters? While we have no idea about Yuui's personality, Syaoron is not quite corresponding to Tsubasa. He is more of a author's self-insert plot mover - always sly and knowing and mysterious. I see weird shit in the plot - I run with it. Love and kisses to all of you, dear readers! You are the delight of my days, oasis for my desert, a long-awaited vacation for my soul! Endless gratitude to any commenter!
