I made my own K-pop Supergroup (female)

So this has been on my mind for a long time really - I think it would be so coOL if this actually happened.

I mean, remember the Wow Thing collab? Yeah, I wish that was a permanent thing too. In this post I’m gonna take you through the lineup, give the group a name, and also maybe give them a debut album

Before I start, I want to introduce the group's concept. I kinda want my group to be versatile and they should be able to pull off many concepts. I would describe their main concept as "Girl Crush and Badass". I also want it to be very aesthetic and appealing to the eyes. Through their songs, this group conveys messages such as Self-Confidence, Female power, etc.

Group Profile~

Group Name : Meraki

[(n.) To do something with soul, creativity or love; to put something of yourself into your work]

So since I want these girls to show themselves through their music, and inspire people, regardless of age and gender, I think this name works really well. It means that they pour their heart and soul into their work, for their fans.

Fandom Name : Elysian(s) [nick-name : Elise(s)]

[(adj.) Beautiful and creative; Peaceful and perfect; divinely inspired]

In the eyes of the group, their fans are beautiful, perfect people, just as they are. This ties together with the overall message they share, and I though “Elysians” would be a good word for the fandom name. I think they would give it a shorter form or a nick-name, like “Elise” [pronounced “el-ees-ay”, or however you like it].

Members’ Profile~

Taeyeon ('89) - Leader, Lead Vocalist, Visual

I want Taeyeon to be the leader, simply because she already has experience, plus, she's the oldest. She's gonna be our Lead vocalist, because, well, she has a beautiful, soulful, golden voice, that can convey a lot of emotions. Plus, I think Taeng can fit the badass concept well, like, I wanna see more of the Taeyeon from the Something New MV.

Amber ('92) - Main Rapper, Vocalist, Visual

Amber's a total badass, breaking the grounds of gender differences. Other than that, Amber is a really good rapper, she can make her voice low and husky, which is what I'm looking for. She also has such charming vocals, like they are so soothing. She's also fluent in English, which helps if the group is promoting overseas.

Jiwoo ('96) - Lead Dancer, Rapper, Vocalist, Visual

I decided to add Jiwoo because she is made for this concept. Her singing voice is quite husky, and I really like the vibe it gives. She's also such a good rapper, she adds some rasp, and makes it really low so that's super cool. She's a great dancer, like her moves have so much swag and she kind of adjusts her dancing style to match the vibe of the song.

Dami ('97) - Lead Rapper, Dancer, Vocalist, Visual

I think Dami really fits the badass concept, she has a really string image, and her rap is fire. So obviously, she is our group's lead rapper. She has this amazing, hot husky voice that really fits the badass part. Nevertheless, Dami also has really nice, somewhat breathy vocals, with a very interesting timbre, and I'd definitely like to hear more and more of that.

Jamie ('97) - Main Vocalist, Dancer, Visual, Sub-Rapper

Okay, first, STAN JAMIE. Anyways, she has such angelic vocals, that are honestly so rich. But the girl can make it seductive and raspy, like she can GROWL. I think she's got some really good moves too. She could totally fit in the badass vibe, like, check her out on the show "Good Girl". Jamie's a fluent English speaker as well, so she's a part of the English line too hehe.

Soojin ('98) - Main Dancer, Vocalist, Visual, Maknae

To start with, Soojin is a really good dancer and I want her to be the group's main dancer. She has a unique style, and I think her visual fits the Girl Crush concept very well (what I mean is, she's hella hot). About her vocals, I think they're SUPER underrated. They're quite gentle and high, which I think will add some contrast to the songs.

Debut Album~

Now that we’ve seen the members, I want to show you the album they’re gonna put out. It has a total of 8 tracks, and the title track will be “ME” (originally by CLC), because this song exudes self-confidence and self-love, which is exactly the concept I want these girls to have. Plus, the song is a banger, it’s perfect for a debut track :)

So for their mv, I’m thinking of a dark concept, showing feminine power. Kind of like a mafia vibe, except it’s run by strong, powerful, women lol. It shows a story, of how the girls unite to become one strong force, together overcoming the hardships they’ve gone through alone, in this world of harsh standards. They learn to love themselves and share the same message to their viewers and fans, through the lyrics. I made a mood board so you can get the picture [at least I tried to, sorry if it looks bad hehe].

So that’s it :) I put a lot of thought into this, and I made sure I don’t include two members from the same group. Tell me what you think about it, and also feel free to send in requests (lowkey asking you for ideas here). I might also continue this, maybe a boy-group version, idk :/

Every ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special’ Performance Ranked

In late 2019, Disney+ premiered the first season of the highly anticipated spin-off series ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’, based on the Disney Channel franchise ‘High School Musical’.

A year later, the series released its very first holiday special, in which the cast member detailed their favourite holiday memories whilst performing covers of some Christmas classics (including two originals).

Below is a ranking of every performance from the least good to the best of them all! These rankings are based on both the performance and the quality of each song. So let’s begin!

13. ‘Last Christmas’ - performed by Matt Cornett

Much like any Christmas musical special, a cover of the Wham classic was featured, and this time it was Matt Cornett (E.J. Caswell).

Whilst the vocals were fairly decent on this one, Cornett’s cover lacked the emotion, fun and vibrance that one would expect from a ‘Last Christmas’ performance. The song is known for either its high-tempo and exciting nature or its ability to captivate an audience with its emotional lyrics and somehow this version attempts neither of those.

The visuals appear to be based around Matt Cornett’s car, forcing us out of the Christmassy feel the song is used to giving off.

So with the fact that the visuals are pretty plain and how the performance lacks much feeling, ‘Last Christmas’ is unfortunately the worst performance from the special.

12. ‘Hanukkah Medley’ - performed by Julia Lester

Julia Lester is an incredibly talented cast member, but this performance doesn’t leave much to remember her by.

Although the medley of Hanukkah songs is decent, it is (at times) pitchy and awkward, with the performance being particularly plain.

Lester isn’t the show’s best dancer, but she is definitely a powerhouse vocalist, so perhaps she should have gone for something that could have showcased that instead of attempting a dance-pop number like this.

Saying that, the song on its own isn’t bad and is a fun pop song, but combined with the clunky visuals and uncomfortable-looking outfit, it doesn’t leave a great taste in your mouth after watching it.

11. ‘What Are You Doing New Years Eve?’ - performed by Kate Reinders and Mark St. Cyr

What is dubbed as Mark St. Cyr’s (Mr Mazarra) first televised musical performance, the Margaret Whiting cover is a fun and decent addition to the Holiday special.

We witness a cute few minutes of Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn) and Mark St. Cyr calling each other on the phone and singing to one another.

Whilst there’s nothing that is vocally spectaculor, Cyr and Reinders put on a corny cute performance together with their quirk and great chemistry.

10. ‘White Christmas’ - performed by Larry Saperstein

With his background in theatre, there’s no surprise that Larry Saperstein (Big Red) is able to pull of a great performance. Throughout the number we see Saperstein setting up the stage and then donning a suit and tie as he takes on the Christmas classic.

The performance is sweet, and the vocals are nice, but it appears to lack much beyond that. Saying that, it’s not a bad performance overall, it just isn’t quite as good as the rest of the special, so for that reason, it’s our 10th best of the group.

9. ‘Little Saint Nick’ - performed by Joshua Bassett and Matt Cornett

The second Matt Cornett song of the special delivers a lot more than his solo. This duet with Joshua Bassett (Ricky Bowen) is a fresh and vibrant take on the Beach Boys classic, whilst not straying away from the boisterous vibes from the original.

The visuals also follow suit with the song, and whilst they’re not the most re-playable of clips, it’s still a fun and sweet performance attached to a vibrant song.

8. ‘This Christmas (Hang All the Mistletoe)’ - performed by Sofia Wylie

Kicking off the show we see Sofia Wylie take on Donny Hathaway’s song ‘This Christmas (Hang All the Mistletoe)’. Wylie is known as the show’s best dancer - by a mile - whilst also being a pretty decent singer, and this number is a great example of both of those.

The performance has its slight downfall with the vocals being slightly off at points, but when that happens, she makes up for it with her great dancing and camera presence.

A Sofia Wylie number would be expected to rank a little higher than her performance did here, but nonetheless her cover was still enjoyable. A more dance-focused visual may have been more beneficial for the young starlet, but this cover still does its job, and starts the special off to a wonderful beginning.

7. ‘Feliz Navidad’ - performed by Joe Serafini and Frankie Rodriguez

Out of the three duets of the special, this ranks highest as the chemistry, visuals and vocals carry this performance to better heights.

Joe Serafini (Seb Matthew-Smith) and Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos Rodriguez) are the show’s most underrated couple, as their characters lack the screen time of many others but still manage to make the most of it regardless. The same can be said here in this exciting cover of José Feliciano’s Christmas hit.

Much like Julia Lester, the two probably would have found a better result with a ballad, but unfortunately not everybody could be given that opportunity. Still, Serafini and Rodriguez knock it out the park with this amusing and cutesy cover, which is combined with adorable visuals of the two decorating a Christmas tree.

6. ‘That’s Christmas To Me’ - performed by Kate Reinders, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini

In this thrilling Pentatonix cover we see four of the show’s best vocalists prove their place in this programme here. This cover features no instruments other than the vocals of the four performers, and it’s clear that they don’t need anything else.

Serafini is the standout of the group, but that isn’t to take away from the talent of the rest of them. The four vocalists create a perfectly spine-tingling cover that is both sweet and enticing.

5. ‘The Perfect Gift’ - performed by Joshua Bassett

Another original song that also features on the show’s second season is Joshua Bassett’s ‘The Perfect Gift’, which he also wrote. This song is one of the standouts from the soundtrack, giving the romantic, coddling vibe that we’re so used to Ricky and Nini offering.

The lyrics of the song are sweet and warm, proving that ‘The Perfect Gift’ is a song that can easily become its own Christmas classic - and Bassett’s charming vocals make sure of it. This is a phenomenal song that one can imagine being serenaded with by the fireplace on a cold, Winter evening.

Its one letdown are the visuals, which could do with more ambitious B-roll, but other than that, ‘The Perfect Gift’ makes us even more exciting for the sophomore season.

4. ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ - performed by Dara Reneé

Vocally, this is the greatest song on the soundtrack. Dara Reneé (Kourtney Greene) hits every note and makes sure that the “replay” button is hit repeatedly.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the visuals only feature two different shots and are combined with the closing credits, this performance isn’t placed as high as the song deserved.

'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ has been covered by some of the greatest musical icons of all time, including Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis and Michael Bublé and - it appears that Reneé can find her place on that top 3 podium (sorry, Bublé).

3. ‘Something In The Air’ - performed by the cast of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

One of the two original songs from the special, ‘Something In The Air’ is actually a part of the second season; the Drama Club creates an Instagram page and uses this to attract more viewers to the page.

The song itself is very Disney Channel-esque (in a good way), giving very similar vibes to ‘Set It Off’ from ‘Descendants’. But what really brings the tune together are the ambitious “one-take” visuals. It definitely took more than one take, and each scene is also most definitely not filmed consecutively, but that doesn’t retract from how seamless each transition is and how much hard work went into perfecting each shot.

Sofia Wylie is the clear star of the performance with her breathtaking dancing, whilst everyone else delivers with their impeccable timing and impeccable energy.

The song is fun, but the visuals are even greater, making ‘Something In The Air’ one of the special’s best numbers.

2. ‘River’ - performed by Olivia Rodrigo

This Joni Mitchell song has been covered by Ellie Goulding, Lea Michele, and many more, and much like Reneé’s take on ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’, this deserves the same recognition as its predecessors.

Olivia Rodrigo (Nini Salazar-Roberts) can be given a piano and a microphone and create some of the greatest Disney musical magic we’ve seen, and her cover of ‘River’ is the epitome of that.

Her chilling vocals and solemn emotion gives this sad festive classic the mood it deserves, and makes us almost wish it were a part of the show’s canon with how sentimental Rodrigo makes it feel. This is a standout on the soundtrack, and definitely worth revisiting again and again.

1. ‘Believe’ performed by Dara Reneé

If it were possible, we’d rename this show ‘The Dara Reneé Show’ as both of her performances take our breath away. Reneé’s cover of Josh Groban’s ‘The Polar Express’ song is the best song of the special. It is thrilling, emotive, and proves just how talented the young star is.

Reneé proved in the freshman season of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ that she is one of (if not, the) best performer out of the cast, and if anyone were to ask you why you think that, ‘Believe’ would be your proof.

This stunning cover comes with so much charm and a fabulous set that it leaves no room for questioning why it is the best performance of the night.

but through the whole process of rehearsing and practicing together, you guys ended up becoming closer because i think your personalities would just click just like that. i think ten is someone who can just connect with anyone but with you, it would just be a different and special sort of connection.

EXID has 5 members. EXID is a 5 member group. Solji is still in the group. Solji is the 5th member of EXID. She’s been out of promotions since December 2016 and there’s plenty of answers on Google if you are confused as to why. I also have a FAQ where I answer this question, and other blogs have talked about this. She’s still in the group and has already been confirmed to be in the Japan debut so just chill and don’t tell people she’s leaving or believe the randoms that come out of nowhere to tell you she’s leaving.

EXID is not pronounced exit. EXID is pronounced E-X-I-D. ee-ex-eye-dee. 이엑스아이디./iː ˈɛks aɪ ˈdiː. There’s nothing wrong with it being a habit you can’t break to pronounce it like exit but y’all need to know it’s supposed to be E-X-I-D.

Jeonghwa and Hani are both the official visuals. Hani is just more popular so people think it’s only her and then people think it’s only Jeonghwa because she was considered a visual member since debut and Hani wasn’t. They’re both officially visuals. There can be two. It’s not common but it’s possible just like there can be two main dancers or vocalists if the group/company decides that.

EXID are all hardworking girls with different charms/strengths. 1.Solji debuted in a duo in 2006 and literally released 23 albums (including single albums obviously and idk why some people think that that’s still not possible but like you could easily look up 2NB’s discography on Naver or smth and count like?google. anyway.) She wasn’t making enough money but she didn’t want to stop singing so she became a vocal trainer and worked in 2NB at the same time until 2012 when she went from EXID’s vocal coach to Main Vocal after the group split. 2. LE was an underground rapper right out of high school before she was asked by Shinsadong Tiger to join his group (EXID). She has had a part in writing every single EXID group song and has composed many as well, she’s also written for other artists and was Hyuna’s rap mentor and wrote 3 songs for/with her. (French Kiss, Troublemaker, and Now + they have a duet called Blacklist you should check it out). 3. Hani literally takes actual notes on everything including what exact angles make her look best while dancing, she literally saw that dancing was a weakness and fixed it the best way she knew how and ended up doing it so well that a fancam of hers went viral and saved the group from disbandment. The girl is a perfectionist and that can make her sensitive to fans criticisms sometimes but it’s also one of her best strengths and is the reason she’s so great on stage/in performances. 4. Hyelin literally came into EXID with a background in more hip-hop centered dancing and a great voice that she didn’t really have full control over and she managed to not only take over Solji’s lines when Solji suddenly had to go on hiatus but she also handled her own and now has the highest note in an EXID song (see Lady). She went from being EXID’s most underrated member with very little lines to handling super tough lines and she’s become more popular, too. Bout time y’all realized she’s iconic honestly. And let’s not leave out that the girl got a part time job in secret when EXID wasn’t doing well and brought the members the leftovers she would get from the cafe. She also co-wrote her solo track ‘Foolish’ and you should all listen to it. 4. Jeonghwa is the youngest but she debuted the earliest as a child actress in 2004. She trained as an actress for 5 years with JYP but she was cut and then she joined EXID and became EXID’s “most promising member” even though she was only 17 and had only trained for like a year as an idol. She’s always bright and cheerful but is also the member that makes the other girls stay later to rehearse and she takes her work seriously. She told fans to not skip meals and to exercise when asked how to get a body like hers (or EXID’s). She works on her dancing with her friend who’s also a choreographer, she’s gone from being just their weakest singer to someone who’s used in harmonies and to help with adlibs and backing vocals of high notes, she’s still studying English and improving in that even after @tmz let a staff member mock her English :) and she studies Chinese as well. She’s been working with a producer and the two have a whole mini album’s worth of songs together and she co-wrote and co-composed her solo track ‘Alice’. None of these girls don’t have a place and all are not only charming and funny but they all also work incredibly hard to improve and become better at what they do.

EXID not only work hard to improve and do well as individuals but they try their hardest to make fans happy and give fans what they want. With all the games and projects they do to give the fans what they want you’d think they’d have more. Please go watch EXID’s “해주세요” videos where they did random things that fans wanted them to (played games, went bowling, did covers solo covers of their favorite songs) and Solji also has a vlive voice show where she interacts with fans (please go watch Solji’s Voice on EXID’s Vapp thanks)

Hani speaks English very well and we all love her genius brain but this literally doesn’t mean she has to speak English every interview she isn’t completely fluent and it isn’t her first language leave her alone if she wants to speak Korean (as a Korean in Korea who’s first language is Korean) then that’s what she’s gonna do she didn’t learn English so she could understand you all bossing her around.

Listen to EXID’s songs before you say anything to anyone about EXID’s songs.

Stop using EXID to hate other girl groups or female idols. EXID love TWICE and Jeonghwa and Jihyo literally trained together so idk why you think EXID would want you to say “EXID don’t lipsync/can sing live unlike TWICE”. EXID are all about female empowerment and girls doing what they want, one of EXID’s members literally is constantly asking for a cute concept and 3 others think it’d be fun too, so idk why y’all think EXID would want you to say “EXID are actually talented and don’t rely on being cute like other girl groups...” like it literally never makes sense to use EXID to shit on another girl group (especially other sexy girl groups like?what?) And it’s just ugly.

Nayun - Underrated sweetie pie Nayun was born on July 31st, 1998, making her 20. Main vocalist! She loves to talk on the phone and she can fluently speak English. She’s that one member who had her hair dyed about 279495749475 times. She’s kind of very strange? But still an adorable sweetie.

Daisy - This bias wrecking queen was born on January 22nd, 1999, making her 19 years old!! She’s a main dancer (VERY GOOD MAIN DANCER), lead rapper, and sub vocalist. Nickname is yoda. She’s a former JYP trainee and was ALMOST in Sixteen. This makes her close with several Twice members. She’s the second new member! Very graceful but also kind of a crackhead (pretty much a crackhead).

JooE - THIS PRECIOUS BABY was born August 18th, 1999, making her just 18! Wow, a young vocalist, dancer, and sub rapper, so much talent! When I say precious I mean PURE PRECIOUS. Don’t cross her though because she knows judo. Very good at voice impressions! (WATCH HER TROPICANA COMMERCIAL ISTG)

Ahin - Ah yes, this angel was born on September 27th, 1999, making her also only 18! We have such young queens here. Very underrated! She lived in China for a few years and she’s fluent in Mandarin and English (we love a multilingual queen). Loves tangerines! Very cute but very loud.

Nancy (THIS MEMBER HAS MADE RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT BULIMIC PEOPLE SO BE CAUTIOUS!) - She is the maknae, born on April 13th, 2000, making her 18. Lead vocalist and also visual. Likes winking, and Disney. Fluent in English. She used to model with Seventeen’s Vernon. Known as the savage one.

Sorry but I literally don’t know anything about the ships, all I know is that Yeonwoo is shipped with everyone. Anyways, great music! Sweet members! Should stan! 10/10 recommend!

BLACKPINK is amazing. Stan BLACKPINK. Why should you stan BLACKPINK? There’s no need for an explanation, but if you really need a reason, I have many.

To start off, BLACKPINK is a K-pop group of four managed by YG Entertainment. And no, they’re not like BTS, they have their own unique style. Each member is talented and charismatic in their own way.

There’s Lisa, the lead dancer, main rapper, sub vocalist, and maknae. The maknae is the youngest member of a K-pop group. Her birthplace addresses her as the “Thailand Princess.” She’s the most popular internationally among BLACKPINK’s members.

Lisa is said to be the tomboyish one in the group. She looks good in every outfit she wears. Her aura offstage is totally different from her aura onstage. She may not look like it, but she’s actually really playful and energetic. That would also explain her impressive dancing skills during her solo performances. If you like a fierce, but also adorable and childish girl who can spit fire, then she could be the bias for you.

There’s Rose, the lead dancer and main vocalist. Before her debut, she placed first in YG’s auditions in Australia. Her vocals are so strong and captivating that I get goosebumps from listening to her sing just a few lines.

Rose is said to be the “pasta girl” in the group. She can play the guitar and piano. Another famous K-pop idol who did a collaboration song with her said that her voice was really unique. She even beat four-hundred singers in a competition but sadly didn’t win, but she’s still an exceptional singer. If you like getting your heartstrings pulled over and over again, she could be the bias for you.

There’s Jisoo, the lead vocalist and the visual. She’s referred to as the “queen of stability”, meaning that she’s the best at keeping her voice stable even when she’s vigorously dancing onstage. She is underrated and deserves more appreciation for her soothing voice.

Jisoo is said to be the mom of the group, because she always keeps the other members in check and cleans up all their messes. She has a bizarre personality, most of the time she’s a mom, other times, she’s your average teenage girl. She never gets scared of horror stories and doesn’t easily get emotional, but she also sleeps with many plushies, plays video games, and reads manga in her free time. She’s my bias-wrecker. If you like maturity mixed with eccentricity, she could be the right bias for you.

Finally, there’s Jennie, the main rapper and vocalist. She tends to be a bit of a “savage” to other members, causing fans to misunderstand and give her hate. She’s not actually mean, she’s just good at acting. She’s also referred to as the “YG Princess.”

Jennie is said to be the fashion icon of the group because she wears a lot of expensive and fashionable clothing from Gucci and Chanel, earning her many invitations to luxury fashion events. She’s not actually the fierce woman you see above. She’s actually a fragile little thing who gets scared of everything, and has a motion sickness problem. She’s my ultimate bias. If you like to get absolutely wrecked by an adorably fierce woman, then she’s the perfect bias for you, no doubt.

Individually, they are unique. But together, they are one-of-a-kind.

Falls Festival has wrapped for another season, with the final leg of the tour taking place at Fremantle Oval over the weekend.

Huge international acts such as Halsey, Disclosure and Vampire Weekend joined an array of Australian artists over two days in what has become one of the most popular annual music festivals in Western Australia. From power pop to psychedelic rock, Sampa The Great to John Farnham, Falls Festival Fremantle brings something to the table for everybody to enjoy.

Clear skies and a cool ocean breeze make Day 1 the perfect Saturday for a festival. Glitter and sparkles speckle the crowd like confetti, with high fashion in full swing for today’s mixed bag of performances. Bubbles float across the gathering crowd around Stage 1 and 2 and the air is thick with the aroma of market food and cigarette smoke. Early punters are able to catch Triple J’s Unearthed competition winners Death by Denim and ex-Unearthed artist Sly Withers, but it’s not until Adelaide rockers Bad//Dreems take the stage when things really start to heat up. A small circle pit breaks out during popular single “Dumb Ideas”, proving that Aussie fans aren’t really phased about breaking a sweat at the hottest time of day if you’re willing to play some good ole fashioned pub rock and roll.

Shortly after comes Young Australian of the Year Danzal Baker and his troupe of dancers and percussionist for Baker Boy. Full of smiles and gratitude, Baker’s set is high energy and well-choreographed, with loud whistles and cheering every time somebody drops to break-dance on stage. Tracks such as “Cool As Hell”, “Cloud 9” and “Marryuna” (a Yolŋu Matha word meaning to dance for fun) have heads bopping left right and centre. Following Baker Boy, Vera Blue takes the stage, her long ginger hair flowing in the wind as she sweeps backwards and forwards in a gorgeous orange mesh two piece. Her angelic voice ripples across Fremantle Oval, overpowering any other noise around her. She pauses during “All the Pretty Girls”, allowing the audience to echo the chorus back to her clear as day, and again during “Lady Powers”, which she dedicates to all the women in attendance today.

Meanwhile on Stages 3 and 4, Adrian Eagle opens his set with a rendition of Ocean Alley’s “Confidence” that is incredibly, even more relaxing and chill than the original. Jessica Cerro also known as Montaigne follows, a tiny but mighty powerhouse who can easily throw her voice out to the wind. She experiences a bit of audio feedback but doesn’t let it throw her off her game, belting out song after song to a smaller crowd than she deserves. Cerro wraps up her underrated set with a staggering performance of her new single “READY”.

Back to the main stage and John Farnham has drawn the older crowd out to dance. Even before setting a foot on stage, a backdrop of the Whispering Jack cover art already has people buzzing with excitement. Farnham begins with a hype anthem “We Will Rock You” by Queen and ends with AC/DC, appeasing his audience with all the favourites including “That’s Freedom”, “Age of Reason” and “The Voice”, complete with bagpipes and deafening “woah-ohs”. Farnham even indulged a little with a rare rendition of “Sadie the Cleaning Lady”, asking fans to “sing along or I’ll come around to your house.” He has recently received a bit of negative feedback for swearing like a sailor at previous shows, but the crowd seem to lap it up here in Freo, even when he tells everyone they can “piss off, you bastards!”

All the way from Iceland, indie folk band Of Monsters and Men take things down a notch for their sunset time slot. In spite of Nanna Hilmarsdóttir and Raggi Þórhallsson’s perfectly harmonised vocals, much of the crowd seems to make their way to the side stages where rock duo Holy Holy were captivating festival goers. Montaigne joins them for a surprise Like a Version performance of Lorde’s “Green Light” before homegrown Crooked Colours bounce out in matching white jumpsuits, ready to party. A timely set with bright, multicoloured visuals as their backdrop was the perfect burst of energy that was needed just in time for the best performance of the night from brothers Nick and Sam Littlemore of PNAU.

Bursting onto the stage with “Are you ready Perth?” so loud it makes people jump, live performance vocalists Marques Toliver and Kira Divine ooze confidence as they take the main stage by the reins with “Solid Gold”, draped in reflective gold jackets and fluorescent pink tassels. While Toliver and Divine take centre stage, the Littlemores refrain from speaking and hang towards the back, showcasing a unique stage presence that is unlike most artists. Kicking off with the strongest start of all the performances today, the vibe remained consistent throughout the entire set, with punters with tired feet at the back of the venue standing up for hits such as “Go Bang”, “Changa” and “Chameleon”.

A hard act to follow, Peking Duk don’t quite reach the mark in the same way that their predecessors did. Taking to the stage first with “Stranger”, Canberra producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles are highly acclaimed with a huge audience and welcomed with open arms. While the excess use of smoke cannons, laser beams and streamers gets the crowd going, a much more grounded performance is happening on the other side of the venue with electropop Aussies based in Europe, Parcels. This gives weary fans the choice to opt out for a groovier, less intense vibe. Closing the side stages for the day to a small but appreciative audience is Sydney trio Wave Racer, bubbling in their own unique style of electro-synth house music.

Last but not least, New York Indie rockers Vampire Weekend take the main stage and serenade Fremantle with a mix of new and old tracks spanning more than a decade. Opening with “Sympathy” from their 2019 album Father of the Bride, lead vocalist Ezra Koenig, dressed in light blue denim cotton threads and a matching jacket seems cheerful and relaxed despite the mass exodus from the crowd following Peking Duk. Crowd favourites like “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”, “Horchata”, “Diane Young”, “Cousins”, “A-Punk” and “Oxford Comma” have fans clapping and slow dancing on the side lines. An unexpected cover of SBTRKT’s “New Dorp. New York” is a treat for all.

Ultimately the band’s set favours new music over their older, more recognisable hits. Noticeably missing were from 2010’s album Contra is “White Sky”, “Holiday” and “Giving Up the Gun”, however new popular tracks such as “This Life”, “Harmony Hall” and ending the night with a catchy rendition of “Sunflower” feels like the first breath of fresh air since the band’s last visit down under. As a part of the finale, two giant inflatable globes are tossed into the crowd, bouncing across the top of the crowd as Day 1 at Falls Festival Fremantle comes to an end just before midnight. A wonderful day for all, and a huge hype for those returning tomorrow. 5/5 Stars.

am i the only one who thinks taehyun is just the sweetest??? like he’s so funny & he’s shown himself to be really successful in leadership positions. also Bomb at dancing.

2. Main Vocalist 1.0, Park Woodam

boy has got some maaaad pipes. no one can beat him in turns of adlibs & high notes honestly.

3. Main Vocalist 2.0, Lee Gunhee

i’m weak for his vocal tone & his overall vocal talent. i was asleep for far too long.

4. Lead Vocalist & Visual 1.0, Jung Dongsu

ok so: i think dongsoo has the most unique, lovely vocal tone on this show, but i think technically wise (?? are those the right words?? ik nothing about singing lmao) gunhee & woodam are better than him. however his high notes are gorgeous. his face is also gorgeous.

5. Lead Vocalist, Lee Daehwi

also has a really pretty vocal tone. i’ve not heard as big of a vocal range from his as the others but still Bomb.

6. Main Dancer & Visual 2.0, Hong Eunki

am i slightly obsessed with hong eunki?? yes completely. he’s The Best Dancer & y’all can fight me on this. he’s also got a pretty voice. and a pretty face. and a pretty personality. i’ve not heard him rap much but he’s probably good at that too.

god given talent. knetz why y’all snoozing. if i had to pick a centre for the dream team it’d be a tie between him and eunki.

8. Lead Dancer & 4D, Ong Seonwoo

king of being extra. literally invented the act of Being Extra. his popping is unrivalled (but if eunki where to do some popping then maybe he’d have some lmao)

the cutest of cute. got hearts thumping from here to australia. also apparently rich that luke skywalker shirt costs like £500 lmao.

10. Main Rapper, Kim Namhyung

king!!! king!!! king!!! our rap god, the underrated king of this season. i can’t even compare him to soyeon cause she atleast got to the top 22. also an all rounder, he was consistently an a, didn’t complain when forced into the dancing team, just so good.

11. Lead Dancer & Visual 4.0, Ahn Hyungseob OR Lead Rapper, Jang Moonbok OR Lead Dancer & Lead Vocalist Takada Kenta

hyungseob is just all kinds of charming & cute, and he’s a pretty good dancer (not as good as the others on this list but, like, above average atleast). however i do think there are some other trainees that may be a little more talented than him and a little less appreciated.

i’m having trouble putting moonbok into this list bc i think he’d make a better solo rapper?? but idk i don’t really care for any of the other rappers on the show.

No it’s fine, I love talking about them! Glad that you had an awakening ( name of gfriend’s new mini album). Glad to give you a little or longish intro cause I could talk about them forever.

Gfriend- 6 member group from Source Music which debuted in 2015 with Glass bead.

Sowon- longest legs, leader, model,finally getting to rap( thats what she trained for), she’s really under appreciated so love her. She’s so caring and teases her members.

Yerin- loves touching but hates being touched, the snake of the group, always makes friends with other girl groups, loves gfriend more than anything.

Eunha- so cute, unique singing voice, tiny of group, savage of group, was a childhood actress, winking master.

Yuju- main vocalist of new gen, good English, well-rounded, scaredy cat of group, got dumped by JYP.

Sinb- little shit of group, potterhead, that main dancer, a walking meme, no one will let go her role on a kids show.

Umji- literal angel, so precious deserves all the love in the world, been a visual since day 1, just wants to sing Disney songs, good English, always thinks of international fans.

Twice- 9 member group from JYP established in 2015, after the sixteen reality show.

Nayeon- cutest lil teeth, cute in general, loves compliments, lil devil but not sneaky, easily embarrassed.

Jeongyeon- has the humor of a dad but never call her anything related to guys cause she hates that, beautiful, has bad photos of everyone, underrated vocals.

Momo- loves food especially jokbal, abs, dancer extraordinaire, part of j-line, pets dogs even tho she’s allergic.

Jihyo- leader, more curvy than most, great vocals, a goddess, wonderful, under appreciated.

Sana- adorable, hard to resist, snake of group, invented shy shy shy, part of j-line.

Mina- penguin, ballerina, slowly getting out of her self, plays video games, part of j-line.

Dahyun- makes the weirdest faces, plays piano, rapper, a cutie pie, religious, a dork.

Chaeyoung- tiniest in the group, cut her hair like Kristen Stewart, educating herself, always has song recommendations, also rapper.

Tzuyu- tallest in group, from Taiwan, loves dogs so much, so young, so talented, improves all the time, is always so done with Twice members.

For Twice I’d recommend checking out their v live stuff cause some of their reality shows on are there too. There’s always tons of crack videos on YouTube to get the humor of Onces.

I’m sorry if this is a bit long just wanted to introduce you to each member and tell you what you should watch. As you said I love them a lot so that’s also why. Unpopular K-POP Opinions

I’ve seen these as YouTube videos and I also saw chaangbinniee post one on tumblr so imma make a short one too

I like girl groups way better than boy groups (not saying they’re better, I just like them better lol)

Seulgi is really underrated, like she has amazing vocals, amazing dance skills, she so gorgeous, her onstage voice is stable while she’s dancing, like nobody sleeps on her but no one gives her the hype she deserves

I think that some girl group rappers who aren’t super amazing rappers who spit fire like Dahyun and Irene suit their groups. Not every group has to have a cool badass rapper, sometimes one who kinda talks more is fits the group well.

I don’t like how some people treat BTS like they’re overrated, and act like they don’t deserve what they’re getting. Sure, your faves are probably just as talented as BTS, but you can’t act like BTS don’t deserve their success just because they have more fame than your faves.

Stop saying ARMYs are the most toxic fandom. I think most fandoms have the same toxic to real fan ratio, but in the least “boasting about BTS” way, BTS has the biggest fan base so its easy for stupid toxic “fans” to find them more.

J-Hope is ABSOLUTELY THE MOST UNDERRATED PERSON EVER. He is everything you could ask for and more, stop sleeping on him. You know what makes me mad, when people are rating the best dancers, and jimin is there but like not jhope?? Jhope is the best dancer in the group, and like I do think he’s better than Jimin (only by a tiny bit ofc) but Jimin is more popular so they ignore jhope and act like Jimin is the #1 dancer. Stop sleeping on hobi.

Please stop comparing groups. BTS has a better rap like than exo, exo has a better vocal line than BTS, stop comparing and enjoy your groups the way they are!

But if we ARE comparing imma just say it’s okay to know another group is better at something than ur faves. I’m a hardcore army and I’m not an exol, but I will admit that ya, exo has a stronger vocal line. It’s just facts, I’m not putting BTS down.

Mamamoo is literally the best girl group rn. They’re total packages! Have u seen these queens?!! Their stages are NEVER boring because the girls’ stage presence is through the roof, they’re ALL musically inclined clearly and their vocals AND rap is so strong, and they’re FREAKING HILARIOUS! They’re doing well which is amazing though lol

Stop saying you can’t stan a group for the fans. The annoying fans have nothing to do with you liking a group.

NCT and all their members are extremely talented and amazing, but I don’t like NCT. I’m not saying their music is bad because it’s not, but personally I don’t like any of their songs. Like chewing gum was good but other than that I really dislike all of their title tracks. Nothing against NCT though.

IOI was mistreated and it’s so unfair that Wanna One is getting more privileges because IOI in my opinion was/would have been more successful.

I like Pristin V better than Pristin.

I used to think Kyulkyung wasn’t as pretty as people made her seem but now I realized she’s a goddess.

Chungha is a talented singer and an amazing dancer and I love her and her music, but I really can’t listen to her singing voice for too long because it’s a little bit annoying.

Hyuna is a queen, and Hyuna is THE queen. Enough said.

I HATE yg. He is literally garbage. He mistreats every idol he has. I’ll give u proof off the top of my head: Blackpink disappears for a year with no comeback, CL does her own hair and makeup and the OLYMPIC CLOSING CEREMONY THING, ikon can’t even talk to Blackpink, idols under YG can’t drive, date, or leave the building without informing YG, lee hi hasn’t had a comeback in ages, seungri is underrated and it’s definitely YG’s fault.

JYP is so freaking creepy

I like SM the best out of the big 3. Not saying he’s amazing cuz where did f(x) go by queen Luna better pull up or imma be mad but at least they can at least sorta manage their idols? Like JYP has twice and that’s as far as that goes (I know he has more but they’re not that huge) YG has so many good artistis that he does nothing with, and then SM had like red velvet, shinee, snsd, and genuine success

I don’t like Nancy. I don’t know why I just don’t like her.

I get why Momoland is a one hit wonder but why was EXID? They have so many bops, they have Hani and LE, like what?

I saw this in a video somewhere and I agree, it said that boy groups have visual holes but girl groups never do and that is straight facts

I didn’t really like retro futurism by triple h. It was catchy but only the “retro future, retro future” part. 365 Fresh was way better

Out of all the groups that the IOI girls separated into, DIA is the best

Jinwoo from winner is insanely cute but they always give him weird hair so he doesnt look as cute as he should

Seulgi is the best vocal in red velvet. I’ve heard them do those radio things and I just think her voice is more stable than Wendy’s is sometimes. Like Wendy is extremely talented and she’s so amazing and ugh I love her but I personally think Seulgi is a little bit better

Why do people say g-idle is nothing special? They have some unique voices! I love Soyeon her voice is so different, and then Yuqi has a voice you never see, and Minnie’s voice is unique too!

Neonpunch has a BOP of a debut song but they’re from some tiny little company so y’all better hype them up because I love those girls

But in Neonpunch baekah isn’t really an amazing singer sorry baekah

Also busters’ song grapes is so good

And another group just debuted I think called Saturday and their song mmook jji bba is SO GOOD

All this I just said here is proof that girl groups are always unique, different, interesting, and to me boy groups are all like the same

I don’t think Blackpink should have a visual cuz all the girls are equally beautiful
