South Downs Cottage and Wiggleverse - To Build A Home
The Wiggleverse was invented by @Kedreeva (https://archiveofourown.org/works/20467451/chapters/48565136)
Freddie's name and the overall situations with the kids are inspired by @olwendylluan and @quodlibets's fanfiction series with their permission: https://archiveofourown.org/series/1589863
Also thanks to @turtleneckcrowley for introducing me to „A Tale of Unfortunate Events“ and thus inspiring the extra snake scenes! (https://www.tumblr.com/turtleneck-crowley/735652802823667712/ineffable-dads?source=share)
There are only three Snabies instead of five because of the Angry Birds 2 scene I used as a base.
PLOT:
Anthony Jr. (nicknamed AnJ, a nod to his Azirafather's pet name Angel) is the first to hatch, Freddie (after Freddie Mercury) and Jane (after Jane Austen) are a bit younger.
Jane looks more like Crowley and has a name chosen by Aziraphale and it is the other way around with Freddie.
Jane is ever curious and the first of the snabies to discover her human form to better cuddle with her father. Though she takes after her extended angelic side of the family when it comes to dancing skills ... AnJ on the other nonexisting hand prefers his snake body because he has trouble controling his powers when he is people shaped.
With all of this overexcited and at times uncontrollable shapeshifting going on, Aziraphale and Crowley decide to move to the country. In the cottage with the big garden they have all the space to run around and learn to shapeshift away from the attention of Heaven, Hell and humans who could panic or turn them into an attraction.
yesterday was snake feeding day (every friday!) and it's always such a production, because my cats think I'm preparing them some tasty treat when I'm warming rodents with hot water, and they turn absolutely feral. It's because I've intentionally trained them all to be mousers to combat the mouse problem my neighborhood has because of its location, so they've all successfully caught mice in the past, so they definitely recognize rodents as prey. It's actually kind of nice, because I can give them a rodent my snakes decide not to eat and be confident that it's safe for them to eat (unlike a wild rodent that's probably full of parasites), but between the heat and humidity of the reptile room and the meds I'm on that make me sweat an abnormal amount (it's seriously like someone turns on a faucet and my sweat glands literally don't stop producing sweat until I can cool off. It's so gross and dehydrating). I love owning snakes; they are by far the easiest and best pets, IMHO, and by now I've gotten to the point where I don't get grossed out about feeding, but it's still a two-hour production, and I woke up with a headache. Now I'm trying to muster the willpower to get up and get stuff done, but it's my day off and it's so tempting to just sleep.
“Does Master Liu intend to go back on his word?” Zhuzhi-lang brushes his thumb along the soft shell of one of his eggs, removing a speck of dirt. The little ones have taken the trip to Bai Zhan Peak well enough but they’re still many weeks too young to hatch, anything can happen between now and then. “This humble one was under the impression that you would take responsibility.”
“Who said I wouldn’t?” Liu Qingge’s eyes are a touch wider than usual, trained on the half-dozen oblong eggs Zhuzhi-lang has removed from a padded box.
All six of them are stuck together. It makes it easy to gently lift the entire clutch. Zhuzhi-lang cups them in his hands. He’s not exactly holding them out towards Liu Qingge, too protective to allow anyone else to take them, but he tilts his hands so that Liu Qingge can get a good look.
“Those are all”—Liu Qingge swallows, stern expression wavering for a brief moment—“mine?”
“Of course.”
“There are six.”
“Yes,” Zhuzhi-lang says patiently. He understands that the number must be shocking. A serpent demon of his caliber tends to lay far more. “Just a small clutch this time. At least half should survive.”
Liu Qingge’s sharp brows pinch. “Why not all of them?”
“Well—”
“Give them here.” Liu Qingge takes his outer robe off and bundles it up, ready to keep the eggs safe within. “I will ensure they all survive.”
Zhuzhi-lang blinks, surprised but pleased, and gingerly passes them over. It seems he will be able to make a father out of Liu Qingge yet.
Dora and Rosie (not shown) are now officially 10cm+ long! (only the shell is counted for snail length because they can stretch their bodies to such variable degrees). That's a big milestone because they're very much in the range for average adult size now. They probably haven't quite hit full maturity though, because I haven't seen them doing any breeding behaviour yet, and they COULD end up getting even bigger! I never saw their parents so I have no idea what their size genes are like.
Nautilus is still very noticeably behind in size but he's doing great, I'm sure he'll get there eventually.
Yknow. I haven’t been up for reading any GOmens fic in the post-s2 era. It finally occurred to me why: the vast majority of fics being cranked out right now are fix-its, and I don’t WANT a fix-it because I really liked it! Would love more AUs and fun distractions because good grief do I need a distraction, but I don’t want the ending of season 2 rewritten at all. Or expounded on unless it’s Neil doing it because the streaming services caved and are paying their workers fairly and season 3 was greenlit. I love what we got. It hurts. It hurts and it makes sense and it sparks the brain chemistry. I don’t want that FIXED. It isn’t broken. My heart absolutely is and if that’s what others need to cope, that’s absolutely fine, it’s. Just not what I personally want. Or need.
Who is murdering my snails and laying eggs in their shells
I also found this tiny white worm (light stripe on its head) is this the criminal (is it planaria??? or harmless cousin)
I also found some tiny black leeches in my other tanks, so I'm not sure if those eggs are from the leeches. I haven't seen any leeches in this tank yet but they were good at hiding, the shell with so many eggs is from one of the other tanks but I found more eggs in this one.
Order from least aggressive to most aggressive Snaby (Since we use Snittens to refer to all of these feline gastropod hybrids this is what I'll call em)
Safety: chill friendly, likes eating leftover food
Muzzle: loud screams a lot, enjoys a nice cuddle
Bullet: runs through the house a lot, sits on your face in the morning
Trigger: 'bullies' its siblings, likes scritches and kisses
