alright dnd rambles

going to drop some characters so they make a little sense when i ramble

Honey/Bug/Pluto: my character, all the same person, they're a swords bard changeling who's now finally going by their true name Pluto after everything happened- ill switch between Honey and Pluto.

There will be a little bit where I will refer to Pluto as a different person because of how changelings work in this campaign. Kintsugi (Kins): my fellow player, war-forged cleric/paladin multiclass, daughter of Amen Rei (their god)

Gintsugi (Gins): Kins' sister, the golden cloak

Infierna: high priestess of the church of Amen Rei

Mars: changeling, Honey's ex but also they had spoken after and re-confessed that they loved each other but promised to talk after the battle, keeper of the town

Dro'kar: second Honey love interest, vampire and lord of the town

Alton: my adoptive dad <3

Jack: third love interest whoops, once-upon-a-time bbeg but he is in love with Honey. Jack is the bard of bards, only fought with them because of honey

Liktor: robot, keeper of the town

The changeling family: if I say any planet name (Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury, I.O etc etc) theyre a changeling and important to Pluto

Yorick: THE bbeg, who we killed

last night was our 'final' battle- what was meant to be the finale but we begged out dm to go to lvl 20 (we reached lvl 13 after that fight)- and it was fucking INSANE

So to start out its just honey and kins fighting against some raised dead red moon knights (from the church of Amen Rei) that were kinda beating our fucking asses- slowly, people start turning up and we can randomly check on others as they do their fight

The fights away from the main fight were the town defenders consisting of Dro'kar, Alton and some of the other main npcs as well as Dro'kar's familiar. Then there was the changeling family + Trina the fairy of Primon (Primon is the town, Trina is also Honey's adoptive mum as of recent). And lastly the church led by Infierna at first and helped my Mercury on Honey's orders.

Back to our fight we're getting our ass kind beat, Yorick is sending his trump cards out to fight the other teams which include a chimera, a gargoyle and a giant golden lion as well as the dead red moon knights. We are fighting the red moon knights, Yorick himself, and Yoricks final trump card whos name I cant spell but hes a dick and also a semi god (aka, fighting TWO gods. not our first god fight either lmao).

Gintsugi shows up to help us first, then Infierna, then Mars and Jupiter- and then at some point Honey agrees to the terms of a contract and gets Jack involved who focuses on Yorick alongside Liktor. Zeke (uhh Dro'kars dead fiancee, Willow's familiar gifted to Honey to help out) is also there throwing hands with the 2nd semi god, and FINALLY our last help is a giant iron golem that guards the woods.

Honey almost fucking dies a couple times, Yorick keeps counterspelling his counterspells and throwing legendary actions his way. Venus interrupts a spell Mars does and Yorick kills Venus. Pluto has to tell her husband, Neptune, who desperately tries to stop the attack to focus, Neptune dies at some point but we don't know what happens. Yorick's attention turns to Pluto who's giving him a lot of trouble and casts Disintegrate on him, which would have killed him as he was on 3 hp at the time.

But Mars, a paladin, has Pluto in his aura and redirects the hit to himself. While smiling at Pluto, just before he dies, Mars tells him "I think you've got it from here" and then turns to dust.

I sobbed.

That's when Pluto got his awakening. Changelings get a special ability they can unlock in their very very worst moments, Pluto's has been slowly building during the lead up to this battle, and losing Mars is the finale straw. A huge dome of ice surrounds him and all people can hear from outside is him screaming in agony. Pluto shows up- the old Pluto, the original holder of his name and his gift- and finally they get their gift. A set of deep black wings and ice magic.

Pluto gets all his hps back (theyre not fully there, theyre basically temporary, he still needs to be fully healed after everything) and then starts throwing hands with Yorick who gets scared and runs away after aiming three meteorites at the manor in town (very important building, town is done for if thats gone). Liktor dies, Jack is down and out of the fight but not dead, leaving Pluto, Kins and Gins, Infierna, Zeke and Jupiter. Jupiter and Gins leave to protect the manor. Pluto, Kins, Infierna and Zeke head down into the catacombs to finish this fight. This whole time no joke ive been rolling LIKE ASS. BUT FINALLY. My first few hits on Yorik is a NAT 20 upped to 31 AND then an 18 upped to 25. Great, Yoricks looking ROUGH.

YORICK KILLS KINTSUGI. RAISES HER AS A THRALL AND BANISHES PLUTO.

Zeke breaks the concentration by attacking Kintsugi after Infierna refuses to attack her love. The concentration ends, Pluto is back ON HIS TURN IN INITIATIVE.

And takes Yorick's head off his shoulders.

Wise ol' Eloquin, fate itself, shows up in this last part because Pluto can see him, and Yorick's fate is finally sealed, the fate he thought he had cut himself from. They return back to Primon, the manor is standing but the town itself is back in ruins. Mars, Venus and Neptune are dead, Liktor is dead. They're the only deaths. Kintsugi is bought back by Infierna who saved her last spell slot for that exact reason.

And that's where the session ended.

Namekian Oc Time!

About time I posted my first oc here... It took me enough procrastination- Long post warning, I ramble a lot- There’s a TLDR under the artworks! (He’s not one of 2 main characters for an OG universe and plot for nothing-)

(This piece commissioned from the lovely Aerhys over on flightrising) Here’s a TLDR for the guys who can’t actually be bothered (I feel ya, though there’s some fun facts at the bottom if you wanna scroll all the way): - Called the Harbinger by his people but called Harper by future friends and family. 120 years old. - Melanistic Namekian, abandoned out of superstition, left to die at 1 year old and hunted for sport later on by his people. - Found by an ancient dragon god of rage, fire and death (imprisoned in it’s own dimension but using a small raven as a vessel). Raised by it, since it needed a Namekian host to get it’s freedom it waited on Namek for thousands of years for the chance. - When enraged his carapace lights up in a red glow. He can exhale red fire from his nose and tends to when fed up or angry (I just think it’s neat). - You’ve never seen sudden and deadly, seething rage until you’ve met this guy. Despises all Namekians and it’s a 50/50 on whether he attacks them on sight. Unjustified aggression and immediate hatred is 100% guaranteed. ~ REAL info below, it may be lengthy but he’s my most developed oc to date!!

The Harbinger (Harper) This Namekian hatched melanistic. Unfortunately, the Namekians of his universe were very superstitious. They tried to raise him anyway, even though they were terrified of him. When a horrible storm ruined the land and a drought dried out the crops the last straw was finally drawn. At only a year of age he was deemed the ‘Harbinger’ and abandoned to die alone in the wilderness, even hunted down and treated like game by the younger warriors later on (few who made it back alive). When the eyes of a red raven fell onto him curled up by a river, his fate was sealed. The raven was a shred of power, an incarnation of a bigger, more violent and fearsome draconic god sealed away in a dimension of its own (known as the Demon Dragon King). Only through a Namekian could it be free and now it had found the host it’d patiently been waiting for. For over 100 years the Harbinger was raised by the raven (not knowing its true form). It fanned his flames of hatred for his people and helped his rage to fester deep within his very being. At 60 odd years the Harbinger created a set of deep purple dragonballs littered with eyes, ones that linked him to the Demon Dragon King for eternity. Unlike normal dragonballs, any wish made on this set without permission will grant the complete opposite effect. Wishing for eternal life will bring a slow and painful death, wishing for fortune will remove all of it from the one who asked. Now the Harbinger is an enraged being who despises all Namekian-kind simply for being part of the species that abandoned him. Only the death of his enemies at his own hands can bring him the joy and satisfaction that he craves. - Some bonus facts if you managed to read through all of that (and I’m impressed if you did, I love to wax poetic- Literally had to simplify the above to shorten it): - Harper is immortal thanks to a wish he was told to make using his dragonballs (the raven told him to, knowing he’d be eternally bound if he couldn’t die). ‘Death’ is still painful, draining and traumatic, but he isn’t able to be properly killed. When reviving he’s completely engulfed in red flames like a phoenix. - Hellfire and death energy are two of his signature forms of power granted by the Demon Dragon King. Hellfire is a pure red fire that, while not hurting upon contact (unless it gets inside the body), slowly ramps up in pain until it’s impossible to handle. If Harper’s knocked unconscious, weakened enough or ‘killed’ the fire goes out and the pain itself only ramps up based on the target’s battle drive/lust and anger (making it effectively useless against composed/emotionless enemies). It also has no effect on machines. Death energy is similar to destruction energy, but can’t disintegrate matter that isn’t organic. It’s tiring to use but any hit is devastating. Harper often covers and lengthens his claws with it, making his slashes incredibly dangerous. - His power level is stupidly weak, barely even worth looking at. It’s incapable of building beyond a tiny threshold. However his telekinetic power is terrifying. Harper can freeze powerful enemies for up to 3 seconds, though times his attacks for the split moment that he can get up close and deliver an instant final blow to any vital organs or arteries. Because it’s tied to his Ki (not directly in power but in connection), anything that shuts Ki off or can distract him/cause enough pain to him can easily render him almost defenseless.

- Harper can and will go for the kill as quickly as he can, no matter how messy or animalistic it makes him look. He’ll use his claws, his fangs, anything he can so long as the enemy never gets the chance to attack. - His horns and underbite are actually a physical mutation as a result of his body being used as a vessel for the Demon Dragon King. His eyes are also fully red and have reptilian slits instead of rounded pupils.

- If befriended (which takes a while) he’s a great ally if not also... A bit of a loose cannon. Deathly loyal to a fault, overprotective to the point any minor threat might get a much worse one in response. - At present has 2 kids :] One biological and one adopted (A Namekian and an Icejin). - Actually really loves food. He can eat just as much as any Saiyan and spends most of his time laying around. Much later on in his story he ends up basically becoming the epitome of dad/mum, dad/mum everything. Dad/mum instinct, bod, cluelessness, overprotective drive, seething rage- Wait, that’s not a thing? Oh well. - I love him so goddamn much you don’t understand I’m- ;-; He’s everything to me I hold him so gentle he makes me so happy I ;O;

Finding about Nethys was a very formative experience to Nela.

She was a terribly rebellious teenager.

During her childhood, she had been mostly sheltered from the worst of people's expectations by the existence of her human twin, Samel. They acted as a set and got almost the same treatment just... to avoid the otherwise endless complaints and tantrums.

As a teenager, however, with both twins building their own identities separate from each other, Nela found herself quickly overwhelmed by society's expectations on her as an aasimar. Their parents weren't the problem, they knew better than to force their kids down a path they didn't want; but it was a very different story with her peers and the other adults in her life.

And so, her resulting desire to spite e v e r y o n e played just as much of a part as her deep fascination for arcane magic when it came to her choice of god. Nethys was just perfect in that sense: it didn't go against her morals, he was far from any of the stereotypical choices due to obvious reasons (especially in Andoran) and his interests aligned with hers.

Nela joined a fairly benign congregation, which still caused quite the ruckus in her other social circles; but there she found community. People who saw the world like she did and were willing to teach her and guide her. There she also met her mentor, the woman who would train her to become an arcanist.

It truly changed her life for the better and gave her a space where she could thrive as herself.

Mind you, that was far from the last or only choice Nela took out of spite during her teens: her parents got plenty of heart attacks due to her shenanigans. However, she had already calmed down and grown out of it by the time she left on the fateful trip to Mendev.

just had the absolutely insane thought of like okay so basically until heaven timeline is december-january so it would be REALLLYYY cool if i wrote most of it during that time??? like the stars aligning + as a novella it feels much less scary than writing a whole novel? but then i also associate january with RR because that's when it starts but also felix and dorothy's birthday is in january (and in 2024 they would be turning SIXTY) so i'm tentatively wanting to start writing RR again in january too....and my tentative goal for 2024 is to write a first draft of either RR or lover boy (DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS) but i just loooove timelines and timelines aligning. and lover boy starts in june so i'm like what if i managed a first draft of RR by june and then once june hits i draft lover boy again??? which none of this seems likely to me because i can't predict my hyperfixations a year in advance but i just think it would be so delicious.
