People? In MY computer?? It's more likely than you think!
The following is a fanvertisment and is not connected to the show. ****Yet.*** *Also yes, this is the fourth time I'm posting this because TUMBLR WONT LET ME EDIT SPELLING MISTAKES!
ANYWAY,
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, back in 1987, Dire Straits put out this music video for “Money for Nothing”, which, as you know, was a song about wanting my MTV.
youtube
The video was made by two guys (Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson) on a very moody computer. After the video went out, these two guys went to a pub:
Ian: “Hey, we should make a whole show like this!”
Gavin: “Dude, making three minutes almost killed us.”
And so it was decided!🎉
The two guys were joined by two other guys (Phil Mitchell and John Grace) and created the Hub, which then became Mainframe Entertainment. They got even more people, and then they all holed up in this hotel.
Tumblr media
They were mad lads with a dream: a whole cgi animated show, and they made it happen a whole year before Toy Story!
Behold! ReBoot!
(Yes that fever dream was real)
Tumblr media
Now before I get any of this:
Tumblr media
Let me lay this down. If you can’t with the animation of the first season because it was CUTTING EDGE IN 1994, you can close your eyes and listen to it. ReBoot wasn’t just a CGI gimmick. The characters are fully developed, the voice actors are peerless, the plot is sharp, and there’s so many easter eggs that you’ll never find them all.
Never
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And yes the episode "Bad Bob" was the actual catalyst for Fury Road. Look it up)
ReBoot is about what life is like in a computer (in the 90s, because it was the 90s) called Mainframe (because of course it is). People are sprites, the guys that look like 1s and 0s are binomes (which represent 1s and 0s). Bad guys are viruses, and the good guy is a Guardian named Bob, who is a certified cinnamon roll.
In the first season the eps are light and self-contained, mainly because there was constant friction between the Mainframe studios and the Board of Standards and Practices.
They still got away with some pretty dark stuff, like Megabyte (virus) making Enzo (the kid) watch his dog get sliced open (dog got away, obviously) , Dot (sprite) have a hallucinatory breakdown, and the fridge horror of realizing the thousands of worm things (nulls) that plunged off a bridge to their death were actually people.
And Hex's (virus
best girl) scary face single-handedly traumatized an entire generation. 🙂
Tumblr media
But busting through a window was a no go, because WhAt If tHe cHiLdReN dID iT tOo?
Anyway, halfway through the second season, ABC cut them loose, so they were like, fuck it, we’re going to start going hard. The story shifted from episodic to arcs and things start to get serious.
Tumblr media
Third season the show moved to YTV in Canada, which gave no fucks about shielding the innocent children.
So it got DARK
Tumblr media
How dark?
The UK refused to show the entire season, so the audience there had to wait until pirated copies made it across the pond to see how it ended.
Also by 1997, the animation was gorgeous. (Best example of third season animation I could think of that didn't have spoilers)
youtube
The show was green-lit for a fourth season on Cartoon Network, but halfway through production Warner Bros took over and the same fucking thing happened.
Because Mainframe was halfway done, they decided not to scrap all of it, but knowing they wouldn't be able to finish it correctly, Mainframe stripped anything that would hint at Season Four's true ending, then left what remained on a cliff-hanger of angst.
FOR 22 YEARS
Tumblr media
(It's also why the last four eps of season four seem to make no sense)
And so it was.
Other crap happened, the soul left Mainframe, and its animated corpse spat out “The Guardian Code” in 2018.
Tumblr media
But never say die! The year is (almost) 2024, 30 years later. ReBoot shall rise from the dead, because here come the documentary!!
youtube
Do you dare see what you’ve been missing?
What the (UK) government doesn’t want you to know??
Then come on down to ReBoot!
We got:
Magnificent bastards with sexy voices!

Kickass women who could probably crush your head with their thighs and you’d enjoy it!

Just like in real life! 🙃

I think they're on Pluto, Hulu, Sling, and Tubi too! Also DVDs for people who have the patience to wait for them!
WATCH! BELIEVE! SUFFER THE SOUL-CRUSHING RAGE OF THE SEASON 4 CLIFF-HANGER!* (come on, its fun!)*

Avenue of Approach (John Price x Reader)
Kate tries to pick up where she left off. John plays developments in your relationship close to the vest.
less than 1k words
CW: reference to oral sex
feedback welcome
Tumblr media
It takes Kate almost half the night before she can pinpoint what’s different about John. Which annoys her. Which in turn throws her game off. Which annoys her even further when John wins the pot that evening and sticks around to count it out slowly, mirthful in his victory. She decides to exact some vengeance and sharpens her metaphorical blade on his thick skin.
“Took a while but it finally dawned on me what’s different about you tonight. You might be in the best mood I’ve seen in a year or two, John.”
“mm…depends on which year or two you’re referring to, I suppose.” He says by way of agreement, tapping a small stack of bills into order against the table top.
“Got anything to do with your lady-friend from last time? Get things, er…moving in the right direction?” Kate asks, having had enough whiskey while sitting around waiting for the game to end to feel braver than she ought.
John tucks his chin into his chest and looks up at Kate with his brows raised, assessing. A familiar look of disapproval slowly settles in to his features.
“Are you asking to be a friend or to be a sore loser?” John pokes back, nailing Kate in her soft underbelly. Their friendship, hard fought and well tested, a vulnerability for them both.
His response confirms her earlier suspicions, no matter his half-assed denial. Kate knows him well, and won’t be swayed from her assessment of the situation easily. She’s happy to watch him try, though.
“John, please. You’re leaving with all my spending cash for the rest of the week, at least cough up some details.”
The corners of John’s mouth twitch as he fights off a smile, his face mellowing again. He can’t summon the energy to be cagey with Laswell, simply in too good of a mood to act otherwise.
“What did you want to know?” He’s humouring her, tucking the wad of cash that is his winnings into the inner pocket of his jacket.
“Surely you’ve got her to agree to do more than just kiss you by now?” Kate’s nursing the end of a whiskey, spinning it in her hands while she waits for John to answer.
“We’re taking it slow, but yes.” He doesn’t elaborate and Kate’s smart enough, even drunk, to not stray further down that avenue. John has to physically start a task or he’ll starting reminiscing about eating his love out on her couch the other night. Her delectable thighs wrapped around his head were not enough to muffle her keening cry when she came on his face and fingers. He starts picking up the playing cards and facing them in the same direction, keeping his hands busy and his brain preoccupied. It works and stymies the beginnings of an erection. Kate’s prying works wonders as an ice bath, too.
“Thought you’ve known her a long time, why take it slow? Don’t know her well enough yet? Do you think maybe another 20 years ought to do it?” The drink is making Kate mouthy, something she’ll regret tomorrow.
“Piss off, Laswell. She’s scared to lose something we’ve had for a long time.” John stacks the cards on the table and crosses his arms over his chest.
“How did you two meet?” Kate tries a different tack, asking for details from the past instead of the present. It works, as much as anything ever works on John.
“She was dating a mate of mine for a while before I shipped out. By the time I got back on my first leave they had broken up.” He kept the fact that his mate had taken to harassing and intimidating her, and that John had broken the lad’s cheekbone convincing him to leave her alone, to himself. Going forward he’d dropped the mate and kept tabs on the pretty bird. He’d yet to regret that choice.
“And you didn’t get an opportunity to ask her out in the last two decades?” Kate is the embodiment of skeptical.
“No.” John deadpanned, shutting down that line of questioning. He watched Laswell sulk into her whiskey for a moment.
The truth was, he’d had a front row seat to half of her life. His line of work, and being away as much as he was with no guarantee of return was too much. He knew it would kill a fledgling relationship with her quickly. She didn’t have the temperament for long periods alone, and John didn’t have the heart to ask it of her. He’d promised himself that if he made it to retirement, if she was single by some stroke of luck, he would finally do something about the feelings he’d been harbouring. The rest, as they say, was history.
Recent history. It had been enough, once upon a time, to know she was out there, doing well in the world. Made it easier to leave, to know it was ultimately keeping her safe, what he did in the shadows. Now, selfish man that he was, he couldn’t sit and watch and have it be enough. He needed more; from her, from their relationship. He was willing to go slow, and like a starving man brought to a feast, it was probably wiser to do so.
“If you’re done, Kate? I’ve got somewhere else to be.”
He pushed back from the table, swinging his coat over his shoulders smoothly. He gave Kate a smirk on his way past, just to rile her up and was gratified to see it working.
Good. Nosy git.

Jake is a Good Dad and I will Die On That Hill
Howdy Avatar fandom. Over the past six months or so I’ve seen a lot of criticism directed toward Jake Sully as a father, ranging from him simply being a little too strict at best, to outright neglectful and even abusive at worst. This, my friends, is some grade-A nonsense, and today we’re gonna talk about why. Strap in, lads, this is gonna be a long one. Let’s roll.
Tumblr media
So before we get into breaking down the events of the main storyline, let’s address the idea that Jake was always the super-strict “military dad” throughout the kids’ lives: put simply, bullcrap.
Out of the film’s over-three-hour runtime, we get to see very little of the Sullies’ lives before the RDA’s return—only about six minutes’ worth. If Jake was meant to be this strict militaristic dictator during this time period, especially in a way that would significantly impact the kids’ character development and their relationships with him, this would be the time to show it, or at least hint at it. But instead of any of that, we really get quite the opposite. Jake laughs and plays with the kids:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jokes around and cuddles:
Tumblr media
Teaches Neteyam to fish:
Tumblr media
He even says in his narration:
“Happiness is simple…whoever thought that a jarhead like me could’ve cracked the code?”
Guys, this is quite literally the best time of his life. This man absolutely adores his family with every fiber of his being, they are his whole world. Like, look at him! He has stars in his eyes!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have zero reason to suspect that Jake was overly harsh or strict in a way that would impede his relationship with his kids during this time. The Sullies appear to be a normal, healthy, close-knit family.
It’s only when the RDA returns and reignites war that things change.
I’ve seen some people claim that Jake’s personality changed it the second movie. I disagree—it was not his personality that changed, but rather his priorities.
A1 Jake was a disabled marine vet who was offered his brother’s contract after said brother was unexpectedly murdered by some thug on the street…and part of the reason he agreed to take that contract was that there really wasn’t much else left for him back on Earth, so why not go? A1 Jake had just about nothing left to lose, and therefore could afford to be more reckless.
A2 Jake, however, is another story altogether. A2 Jake can’t just run around poking and prodding and taking risks like A1 Jake did because now he has a wife and four children who rely on him and who he loves more than anything else in the world. It’s not just himself he has to look out for anymore, it’s them. He now has everything to lose. He says as much himself:
Tumblr media
Not to mention that he’s older now. Did you really expect the 37-year-old father of four who’s been leading the clan for 15 years and is suddenly thrust back into a brutal war to behave exactly the same as the 22-year-old fish-out-of-water ex-marine sent to fill in for his scientist brother out of the sheer convenience of sharing a genome? A2 Jake’s behavior is not a sudden 180 from his personality in A1, it’s a natural progression and reaction for his character given the changed circumstances.
“A father protects. It’s what gives him meaning.”
This is essentially Jake’s thesis for the movie. This is his #1 priority, his purpose, the lens through which all his actions must be viewed in order to understand them, and it’s important to establish it upfront because it sets up everything else.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the train raid sequence as its aftermath. Jake begrudgingly allows his now-teenage sons to participate in the war party—from a distance, as spotters. Neteyam seems content to fill this role, but Lo’ak, against orders, eagerly insists that they “have to get in there”, even goading his brother:
Tumblr media
Tailed by an exasperated Neteyam, Lo’ak grabs a weapon from Tarsem and lets out a half-hearted warcry:
Tumblr media
...let’s be honest here, Lo’ak doesn’t really seem to be taking this raid anywhere near as seriously as he should be; he’s treating it more like a game—on which point, y’know what, let’s pause to talk about Lo’ak for a moment.
Because the primary purpose of this post is defending Jake, it may at times appear that I am being overly critical towards Lo’ak. This is not my intention—I love Lo’ak as much as I love the rest of the Sully family (which is a lot lol). I think the things he struggles with are reasonable and valid struggles to have considering his circumstances. However, that does not always mean that he is in the “right”. Jake and Lo’ak’s conflict through the movie is not as simple as “son right dad wrong” or vice-versa; rather, it stems from a generational/age gap in experience and priorities.
In this case, for example, Lo’ak is treating the raid more like a cool action game than a real battle with real stakes. Which may not be much of a surprise—he’s 14! He’s young, he’s naive, he’s never experienced anything close to real war until the past year or so—he probably genuinely does not fully grasp the stakes of this situation just yet. And why should we expect him to, really? He’s never had to before.
Jake, on the other hand, knows the stakes all too well. This ain’t his first rodeo. He was a solider both on Earth (where he was injured severely enough to become paralyzed from the waist down) and then again on Pandora driving out the RDA in a battle that killed several of his friends and allies, including almost completely wiping out the entire Olangi clan.
Jake understands the risks of war and doesn’t want his kids anywhere near it. We see this not only in the film where he only allows Neteyam and Lo’ak to participate in the raid “from a distance” and ultimately fleeing his own clan altogether once his kids are directly threatened, but also in the comics in which he consistently turns down Neteyam’s pleadings to participate in the war efforts. Unfortunately for him, his sons do happen to be coming of age at around this time and there’s only so much he can do to keep them out of it, so he tries to let them participate in relatively safe ways, like as spotters.
Lo’ak…doesn’t understand this. Not really. And that leads to him recklessly taking unnecessary risks—be it out of curiosity, to get in on the action, or even simply to prove himself. Which understandably scares the crap out of Jake.
When the raid is over, Jake desperately searches the rubble for his sons. He finds Lo’ak quickly and makes sure he’s alright:
Tumblr media
…before taking off to search for Neteyam, who he also promptly checks over for injuries.
Tumblr media
which is something I’d like to point out here: although Jake sometimes gets gruff with his sons, he never leads with that. He always always always makes sure they’re ok first. That’s important. We’ll come back to it throughout the post.
Anyways, it’s only after making sure that Neteyam is ok that Jake’s initial bout of fear subsides and morphs into frustration and anger: what were you thinking?! And it’s a fair question. If the boys had followed orders, they wouldn’t have been at such risk in the first place. Once the party returns to High Camp, Jake addresses this point with them, reminding them that by disobeying direct orders they put themselves in very serious danger, and reiterating to Lo’ak in particular that his recklessness nearly got his brother killed and grounding him.
In other words, Jake’s response to his sons going against his orders was…a lecture and a grounding. That’s…a pretty reasonable parental reaction, actually. Sure, you could nitpick and say his tone was too harsh, but given the situation, I struggle to blame him…
…which leads into the next relevant scene: while Mo’at and Kiri tend to Neteyam’s scratches, Neytiri gently chides Jake for being too hard on the boys, concluding with the infamous line: “This is not a squad. It is a family.”
Now, what I find interesting about this scene is that neither party is really in the wrong here. Jake is doing his best to fill his role as a father by watching out for his kids’ physical safety—even if it means being a little strict. Likewise, Neytiri is filling her role as a mother by looking out for her kids’ emotional well-being. As she should!
That said, I think people who use this line as proof of Jake’s supposed parental failure are forgetting the context. While Neytiri’s line is true in general, when the boys sign up to participate in a war party, they kinda do become a “squad”. In that moment, in that context, they are a squad, they have to behave like one lest someone gets hurt if not killed.
I also think they forget Jake’s reaction to Neytiri’s line:
Tumblr media
Look closely. There are tears in his eyes. This dude was terrified of the possibility that he may have just lost one of his sons in the raid, and all his strictness stems from that. And Neytiri seems to recognize this as well, as she can’t seem to decide how to respond. She probably worries about the same thing, after all, even if she handles it differently.
On that note, let’s look at the next time Lo’ak disobeys instructions: going to the old shack with Spider, Kiri, and Tuk, where they first encounter the recom unit.
Something interesting about the aftermath of the recom rescue is that no one gets lectured this time actually. Remember what I said about how, no matter how upset he is, Jake always checks to make sure the kids are ok first and foremost? Sure enough, that’s what he does here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only for his daughters, mind you, but also both his sons (we’ll address the daughter-favoritism claims later):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the recoms now targeting the Sully family specifically, Jake, feeling out of other options, makes the difficult decision to flee and find refuge among the Metkayina clan.
Tumblr media
whoops, there’s that “protection” theme again
When their request for sanctuary is somewhat reluctantly accepted, Jake calls a family meeting and tells the kids this:
Tumblr media
Remember how earlier we established how “a father protects” is essentially Jake’s thesis for this movie? Well, this is an offshoot of that: Jake believes that hiding amongst the Metkayina is currently the best was to keep his family safe; therefore, throughout the Sullies’ time with the clan, Jake’s primary goal is to lay low and get along with the clan so as not to tread on their hospitality and get kicked out (even if and when that means setting aside one’s own pride). This, then, is the lens through which Jake’s actions must be analyzed while his family is staying with the Metkayina.
The first time this becomes relevant is after Neteyam and Lo’ak’s little scrap defending Kiri from Aonung and his posse. Jake is clearly not thrilled about Kiri being bullied, but again, his top priority is keeping his family safe and right now this entails maintaining a good standing with the chief, which in turns means that his sons getting into brawls with Tonowari’s son is a very bad look. Which is why, after a moment of internal conflict, he asks Lo’ak to apologize to Aonung (he even tries to explain when Lo’ak protests:)
Tumblr media
On that note, while remaining on good terms with the clan has to take precedence at this moment, Jake is clearly quietly proud of his boys for kicking butt, as we see from his exchange with Neteyam (though yes, it is unfortunate that Lo’ak didn’t get to see this bit).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…which brings us to one of the bigger moments that people point to when accusing Jake of being a bad father: the “you bring shame to this family” line. Now, I can understand why this line doesn’t sit right with viewers initially, especially since we have just seen firsthand the truth about what Lo’ak experienced over the past few hours. However, when you consider what’s going on from Jake’s perspective, the line is not quite as unreasonable as it first seems.
Let’s back up a bit to when Lo’ak first returns to the village after meeting Payakan. At first Jake is just relieved that his son is ok (remember: he always checks first)
Tumblr media
In fact, once it’s clear that Lo’ak is ok, it seems Jake just wanted to let it go and head home…the real conflict didn’t begin until after Lo’ak lied to take the blame for Aonung.
Up until this moment, Jake only knew Aonung’s side of the story, that he’d taken Lo’ak outside the reef and he got stranded there (it’s unclear whether Aonung specifies that he abandoned him out there on purpose, the little punk, but I digress). But when Tonowari (rightfully) declares Aonung’s responsibility for the incident, Lo’ak speaks up to take the fall, claiming that the whole ordeal was all his idea, which Aonung had tried to talk him out of.
Lo’ak does not have a reputation for lying…but he does have a reputation for pulling reckless stunts that put himself and others in danger, so for better or for worse, Jake has literally zero reason not to believe this claim.
In other words, for Jake, the situation has just gone from “my son got taken advantage of by the local bullies and put into a precarious situation but he’s home safe now” to “my son dragged a bunch of other kids to a dangerous location where he knows he’s not supposed to go despite the chef’s son trying to talk him out of it, endangering both his life and theirs, getting lost in the process, and thereby worrying and inconveniencing the entire clan on whose hospitality we rely by making them go out of their way to arrange a whole search party in the dead of night just to find him.”
…yeah, no wonder he was flippin’ ticked. No wonder he “didn’t want to hear it” when Lo’ak tries to explain that he was “only trying to make friends”. We as the audience know that’s true, of course, but as far as Jake knows in that moment, based on what Lo’ak himself claimed just moments ago, he was trying to “make friends” by…dragging them out to a dangerous location despite their protests thus jeopardizing both his and their lives as well as his family’s standing in the clan who can kick them out at any time. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to “hear it” either.
When you look at it from that perspective, “you brought shame to this family” doesn’t really seem quite as extreme, does it?
And yes, I feel for Lo’ak here, really, I do; he’s just been through a lot and yes based on the actual events that just occurred his father’s anger is the last thing the poor kid needs and I totally get why it would upset him…but at the same time, I can’t help feeling that he kinda brought this particular lecture on himself by voluntarily taking the blame for Aonung. Not really sure what he was expecting: that Jake would somehow read his mind and understand the way things actually went? That he would see through his lie and praise him for being so amiable towards Aonung by taking the fall perhaps similar to how Neteyam so often claims the blame for Lo’ak’s own reckless shenanigans despite how rude Aonung had been to him thus far? Or perhaps he just blurted out the blame claim as an olive branch of sorts to Aonung (genuinely trying to “make friends” in a way) without really thinking about the consequences of doing so. Who knows. But regardless of how Lo’ak did or didn’t think things would go, I think it’s a little unfair to blame Jake for his reaction. Based on his knowledge of the circumstances, which in turn were based on Lo’ak’s own account given only moments before (remember, Jake had zero reason to suspect he was lying), his reaction is actually pretty understandable.
Speaking of Lo’ak’s adventures with Payakan, the next time we see him clash with his father is when Tonowari lectures him for bonding with the outcast, and Lo’ak defends his new friend. Remember: Jake’s top priority is keeping his family safe which currently means not getting kicked out of the Metkayina. Lo’ak, regardless of whether or not he was in the right, was clearly upsetting Ronal and Tonowari in this exchange—Neytiri is actually the first to step in and warn her son:
Tumblr media
…and when Lo’ak persists anyways, Jake has to step in in hopes of smoothing things over with the chief.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It sucks that this upset Lo’ak, especially because we the audience know that Lo’ak is right about Payakan, but again, Jake is currently more concerned with not getting kicked out of the clan than with his son winning an argument about the validity of a tulkun’s outcast status.
.
...aaaand here comes the hardest part of this essay to write. Admittedly I wasn’t aware of this argument until recently, but now that I know it’s out there I feel obligated to address it here. Apparently some folks are out there claim that Jake did not display a sufficient amount of emotion at Neteyam’s death, and this somehow proves that he wasn’t as attached to his sons as he should have been. And all I have to say to that is: did we watch the same movie??
That man broke upon his son’s death. Did he wail and cry like Neytiri, no, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t heartbroken—wailing and crying simply aren’t how his character responds to trauma. He’s a solider, he’s probably trained to delay any external breakdown at least until a given battle is over.
But you can still see it in his face. You can hear it in his voice which breaks and shudders when he realizes that Neteyam is dying and tries to give him a few last words of comfort, wanting so desperately to ease his pain to the best of his abilities.
Tumblr media
...yeah. This man is broken in this moment.
Tumblr media
…but his job isn’t over yet. The battle is still raging. He still has three more kids who still need him. As much as he may want to, he cannot take the time to fully grieve in this moment.
…which brings us to the big one, the main line people point to when arguing that Jake is a bad father:
Tumblr media
Now, let’s be honest: was this an awful thing to say? Yes, absolutely. Should Jake apologize to Lo’ak for it after the fact, if he hasn’t already? Definitely, one-hundred-percent. I’m not disputing that in the least.
however…
In this moment, Jake has just spent the past however-long locked in a vicious battle, and hardly minutes before watched his firstborn son bleed out in his arms. And now he learns that his daughters—one of whom is a pre-pubescent child with no chance of defending herself—are still caught on the “demon ship” with the recoms, who have just very clearly proven that they have absolutely no qualms with killing these kids. Quaritch taunting in his ear certainly is not helping.
The only thing Jake could properly focus on in that moment was getting Kiri and Tuk off that boat. Repeat: he wants to get his kids OFF the demon ship, not risk bringing any of them back ON. On top of that, Lo’ak, as established very early on in the film (see: train raid), has a reputation for struggling to follow orders…even when not emotionally devastated by the death of his brother.
All these things considered, is it really any wonder that Jake did not want Lo’ak coming along on this mission? He’s already lost one son, why in the ever-loving flip flap would he want to risk losing the other by intentionally bringing him back to the danger zone with no guarantee he’ll come out again, especially given his apparent propensity to ignore orders and throw himself into danger?
Heck, the only reason he lets Spider come is that Spider knows where the girls are and, unlike Lo’ak, Spider doesn’t have that same reckless reputation. Spider, in that moment, appears to be able to compartmentalize the fresh trauma well enough to focus on the task at hand, and can be trusted to do as Jake asks. Lo’ak…can’t. So, Jake wants him to stay behind.
Did he express it horribly? Absolutely. But saying one stupid insensitive thing in a moment of numbness underlaid by grief, pain, and fear does not make him a horrible dad overall, and I think it’s a little unfair to say that it does.
On that note, I do not believe for one moment that Jake genuinely blames Lo’ak for Neteyam’s death. Now, Lo’ak may well view it that way and I’m sure it’ll come into play for his character arc in future movies, which can be a topic for another day, but as for Jake’s perspective, no. I don’t think he truly blames Lo’ak. Even if he couldn’t necessarily process it all right away, I think he knows that Lo’ak is going through as much heartbreak as the rest of the family…especially given that Jake himself has firsthand experience losing a brother. He just said something dumb in a moment of pain.
(On the topic of Lo’ak being unable to follow orders, less than five minutes after Jake, Neytiri, and Spider leave for the ship, Lo’ak…immediately disobeys the order to stay safe on the island and heads back out to the ship anyways. Obviously in the grand scheme of things it’s good that he was there to save Jake from drowning after the scuffle with Quaritch, but still, good gracious son. Way to spectacularly prove your dad’s point.)
So now we come to the point where Lo’ak saves Jake’s life. After a mutual choke-out with Quaritch, Jake is left to drown until Lo’ak finds him and pulls him to the surface, at which point he gasps for air and chokes out Neteyam’s name.
This can be interpreted in a few ways. It could be that Jake is so accustomed to Neteyam being the “responsible” one that he irrationally thought it was him coming to the rescue, momentarily forgetting he had died or somehow thinking maybe by some stroke of fate he pulled through after all—this seems to be Lo’ak’s assumption, given that he promptly corrects him.
Tumblr media
Now, some may take Jake’s “oh, Lo’ak…” as a show of favoritism, or proof that Jake values his first son above his second. I don’t think this is the case though—I don’t think Jake’s apparent disappointment is about Lo’ak being there so much it’s about Neteyam not being there. In other words, it’s not a personal slight against or disappointment in Lo’ak, but rather a form of still-very-raw grief for Neteyam who, remember, only just died, like, an hour ago.
It could also be that Jake is still so distraught following Neteyam’s death that it’s consuming his thoughts…he was able to shove it down and compartmentalize long enough to fight the recoms and get Tuk and Kiri off the boat, but that compartmentalization broke down while he was literally drowning and it took him a minute to focus and put things back together (which he manages to do a moment later when Lo’ak tries to apologize for his brother’s death):
Tumblr media
The most excruciating interpretation I’ve seen is Jake thinking he had drowned and is rejoining Neteyam in the afterlife. ouch. Though that is, of course, just speculation.
Regardless, at this point Jake has just about given up. He’s exhausted, he’s in agony, both physically and emotionally. He’s completely drained. He wants Lo’ak to live but is ready to give up on himself (“I can’t make it. You can.”). It’s only when Lo’ak insists:
Tumblr media
...that Jake realizes he still needs to press forward. Because his other kids still need him. His other son still needs him and he’s not willing to give up on him. So he takes a deep breath (literally), puts his trust in Lo’ak, and lets his son lead him through the flooded passageways out of the wreck. When they finally break the surface, we have this lovely moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This moment is a resolution to one of Lo’ak’s primary emotional conflicts throughout the movie: living in the shadow of his legendary war hero father and prodigious older brother, finally getting the recognition and affirmation he so craved from that father. Some might argue that in terms of “ideal” parenting that this kind of moment should have come sooner, or that Jake’s recognition of his son should never have been in doubt in the first place, and while there may be some truth to that, I struggle to really blame Jake for it for reasons I just spent the past 4000 words discussing. I think the fact that this moment happened at all shows that despite their clashes and struggles and miscommunications, Jake does and always has cared very deeply about Lo’ak; his lectures and frustrations come not out of malice or some personal distaste, but out of fear for his well-being.
We see Jake comforting Lo’ak again after the family returns to Neteyam’s body on the rocks.
Tumblr media
As I said before, I don’t think for even the briefest moment Jake genuinely blames Lo’ak for Neteyam’s death. I don’t think he would be comforting him like this if he did.
…which, I suppose, brings us to Neteyam’s funeral, and Jake and Neytiri visiting his spirit within Eywa. No parent should ever have to bury their child and good golly gracious this scene ripped my heart out but I digress. I don’t even really have a lot of commentary to add to these scenes…just…just this. It speaks for itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look me in the eye and tell me this man “doesn’t care about his sons”. I flipping DARE you.
.
Well, that concludes the debunking of scenes that supposedly make Jake a bad father. But before we go, let’s look just briefly at this scene of him being a good dad with Kiri. I didn’t mention this earlier because while I’ve seen a lot of complaints about Jake’s interactions with Neteyam and especially Lo’ak, few people have qualms with the way Jake treats Kiri and Tuk—in fact, many people claim that he shows favoritism to his daughters, going out of his way “baby” them and treat them more gently and lovingly than his sons. I disagree and hope the above has done a thorough job dispelling that notion: Kiri and Tuk don’t go around throwing themselves headlong into the same kind of danger that Neteyam and Lo’ak do. They aren’t begging to participate in battle, they aren’t disobeying orders that land them in mortal peril.
In other words: Jake lectures his sons more than his daughters out of necessity, not nepotism. Remember: Jake’s #1 priority is protecting his family, keeping them all safe and alive. That means that when one of his kids pulls a stupid stunt that puts them in danger he feels the need to crack down on that in hopes of preventing it from happening again. Lo’ak is, quite frankly, prone to pulling those kind of stunts, so he gets lectured a lot. Kiri and Tuk do not typically pull such stunts, so they don’t get lectured. It’s as simple as that, really.
Buuuuuut now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk just briefly about Jake comforting Kiri.
Tumblr media
Like with the scene of visiting Neteyam’s spirit, I don’t have much commentary to add to this scene—it’s a very sweet scene and it speaks for itself really. Jake is very gentle and doing his best to listen to Kiri, even if he is a little unsure about her claims. He doesn’t criticize or invalidate, he just tries to be there for her. What can I say, that’s a good dad right there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
One last little point before we wrap up for real: the fact that Lo’ak and Neteyam occasionally refer to Jake as “sir”. I was originally planning to address this earlier but it didn’t quite fit in with the flow of the discussion and I consider it such a minor point anyways, I figured I could save it for a side note—but seriously, it baffles me what a big deal people make of this.
It would be one thing if “sir” was something that Jake strictly enforced, if it was the only thing he allowed the kids to address him as, if one of them called him “Dad” and he barked back, “no! it is sir!” But…literally none of that is the case. He never explicitly asks them to call him “sir”, and they call him “Dad” just as often if not more.
The kids referring to Jake as “sir” in tense moments is a simple show of respect, nothing more. I recall my own dad also wanting to be called “sir” when we were in trouble and it was never really an issue. And I suppose your milage may vary depending on where you live, but growing up in the southern US, “sir” and “ma’am” are just very common basic courtesy in many situations (not just familial).
Sooooo….yeah, the idea that Neteyam and Lo’ak occasionally calling Jake sir is somehow proof of Jake being too strict or cold or whatever else is really making a mountain out of a molehill. It’s not that deep y’all.
…aaaand I suppose that’s it for this post.
In conclusion:
Look guys, Jake does not have to be your favorite character. You don’t even have to like him, or agree with everything that he says or does. He isn’t perfect (which, by the way, literally no one is). But if nothing else, I hope this behemoth of a post has at least helped you understand his character and why he acts and reacts the way that he does.
Jake Sully may not be a shining beacon of parental perfection from a psychological development perspective (and all things considered, expecting him to be such is, quite frankly, a little silly), but good golly gracious he is trying his absolute darnedest in incredibly difficult and precarious circumstances beyond his control i.e. the RDA coming back to quite literally take over. This man’s family means absolutely everything to him and I’m done sitting back and watching y’all slander him just because he didn’t react to x situation the way you think he should have.
Tumblr media
thank you and good night

What's Meant To Be
Tumblr media
You’re still sulking and thinking over everything that’s happened in the past hour. You had been on the phone to Elliot, the guy you had been dating for the past three months. You couldn’t say he was the love of your life yet but you really liked him and had developed feelings for him. You were ready and expecting to become his girlfriend. But he seemingly wasn’t on the same page. Apparently, he’s “just not sure if I’m feeling the vibes between us and I’m just not available for anything more at the moment” as he tried to reason with you over the phone. You had just accepted it and tried to keep it cool. But as soon as he ended the call you had thrown yourself onto your sofa, tears already escaping you and trying to figure out where it went wrong again. You had gone on numerous great dates together over the past months, you had even met some of his close friends, and he yours. You two had gotten to know each other more and everything seemed to be good and fitting.
“So I guess it’s me then isn’t it?” you had wondered out loud, before you had to get up and get ready for a night out with your friends. The night where Elliot was supposed to join and meet your entire group of close friends. You aren’t fully sure if you’re up for a night down at the pub, but canceling and having to explain why doesn’t sound appealing either.
You’re still so distracted and in your own head while putting your necessities for tonight into the small purse, the doorbell startles you and you throw your lip balm across the carpet. “Fuck’s sake” you curse under your breath as you try to see where it rolled off to.
“It’s me Y/N/N, open up, ceemon!” you hear Sam shout from outside.
“Just come in” you shout back. On any other day you’d be overjoyed to see Sam, welcoming him with open arms. But today is pretty shit already and small things like losing your bloody lip balm can really set you off.
You hear his key in the lock and just a few seconds later he’s making his way over to you, appearing in the doorway.
“Hello” he says enthusiastically. But as soon as you straighten up and turn to him, his expression falls.
“What’s the matter?” he asks with concern clear on his face. Taking a couple steps closer to inspect you for any injury or sign of discomfort, he comes up short and just looks back up into your face.
“I…It’s just not a great day for me” you frown. Not able to hold his gaze for long you turn back to your task at hand. Putting your wallet and the reemerged lip balm into the bag and zipping it up, you still try your hardest to avoid Sam’s worried form.
“I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just go so I can get some drinks in me, aye”
You rush past him and into the foyer to put your shoes on. You thought you might be in the clear now, with Sam not asking any more about it. But clearly you were wrong, and his next words make you pause what you’re doing.
“Where’s Elliot then?” and all you can do is sigh, trying to not get emotional again. But after a few seconds of silence Sam still doesn’t let up
“Y/N?”. Pause, and you can hear him shuffling closer. You know he’s not done yet.
“What happened” he asks in a very calm but demanding tone. And you know you can’t lie to him now. And he won’t let you both leave before you tell him. Taking a deep breath you say quietly “He’s not coming.” With your head down you slowly turn towards your friend and continue “He phoned earlier, saying he’s not ready for this and he ain’t got time to try and make things work”.
And in an instant, Sam has his arms around you in a bear hug, running a hand over your back for comfort. And as he pulls away again he’s searching your face, looking at you intently.
“A'm so sorry this happened. He seemed like a good lad”. Sam was one of the people that had met Elliot already. And it really seemed as if he’d fit right into the group and into your life.
“Yea, he really did. So why does this keep happening Sam?” you ask out of pure frustration.
“I keep meeting guys and everything seems to go well. Until it becomes more serious. Am I really that hard to commit to?” you ask him directly now. You’re fed up with seemingly just being the placeholder until men find their actual long-term partner. Or even their soulmate. You just go from dating, to being single, to trying to go on dates again just so you can be disappointed all over again.
“Yer know that’s not true!”
“It sure feels like it though” your voice gets louder now as you huff at him. You know it’s not his fault and he doesn’t deserve to be shouted at, but your emotions are running overboard today and if you can’t shout at every man that has ever strung you along and mistreated you, you’ll just have to take Sam as substitute instead.
“I’m either the single friend or the one that gets screwed and then screwed over by every guy that promises he cares about me!”
“Haway now, don’t do that! You’re amazing and it’s definitely not your fault if they cannot see that” he’s trying to end your self- destructing rant. He hates whenever you think so little of yourself and don’t understand that these guys are just blind and dumb idiots who could never treat you the way you deserve.
“I just don’t always want to end up alone for fuck's sake! What do I have to do, to have someone fall in love with me. For once at least!”
“You know what? I’m done with you shite talking and belittling yourself!” Sam grabs your arm and pulls you in the direction of the door. His sudden change in tone takes you by surprise and you can’t do anything but follow him without a word.
“It wouldn’t have worked with Elliot anyways” he says it so casually but it’s what finally snaps you out of your trance and makes you halt. Stopping Sam in his tracks as well, as he’s still holding onto you gently.
“What?” you ask with a bewildered look on your face.
“And how the fuck do you want to know that Fender?” you ask him with a reignited anger inside you. How dare he comment on the guy you’ve been seeing, and he has even met. You never say anything about the one-night stands and lasses he brings around for a few weeks, even though it’s infuriating to see how well he handles his casual relationships like that. And the fact he still has so many women to go with, and you’re struggling to find just one person to stick around.
“Because I’ve known you for years and I know what you want. I know what you deserve!” he shouts out into the quiet hallway and it shocks you to hear his words.
“I’ve been dying to try and make you see how much you mean to me. And how good I would be for you” his soft blue eyes are filled with desperation, as well as relief for finally telling you the truth. You’ve never seen Sam look at you this way.
“What’re you…?” you don’t have the words to make sense of the whirlwind that’s going on inside your mind right now.
“You’ve never found the right guy because you’ve never even looked at me like that” he tells you, softer now, and as he steps closer to you, you can see his true emotions staring right at you.
Over the past few years you had been so busy convincing yourself that Sam would never be interest in you, or see you as any more than a friend. That you completely missed the way he so utterly and completely fell in love with you.
He’s standing so close to you now that you can feel his breath on your face. Out of the corner of your eye you can see his arm twitch, he’s debating with himself whether to make the next move or not. Eventually he moves his hand to your chin and gently lifts it up so you’re looking at each other. A few seconds pass, a small smile forms on your face and it’s all the reassurance you need to give, for him to close the distance between you and connect his lips with yours. This first kiss is the gentles and most amazing one you’ve had. It truly feels as if Sam was made for you. He knows exactly what to do and how to turn you into putty with just one kiss or little swipe of his tongue. As you two pull apart you’re both breathing heavy and sporting the happiest of smiles on your faces.
“I guess a’ll have to give yer a chance then” you say to him with a wink. Taking his hand in yours and intertwining your fingers with his.
He grins at you and places a sweet kiss on your cheek before opening the door for you both
“Let’s go so I can finally buy you a drink”

I noticed something. To the best of my (sleep deprived) recollection, I think Robin is the only major/og/classic superhero sidekick (at least in DC) to have a non-derivative identity? Think about it; Wonder Woman has Wonder Girl; Aquaman has Aqualad, Flash has Kid Flash, and Green Arrow has Speedy-- he gets points for the original name but the identity and costume are clearly derivative. (Also, kinda weird that the derivative names are all also diminutive, and Robin isn't.) You'd think he'd have been named Batboy or Batkid or Batlad or even something like Black Bat (Blue Bat?) (I also just realized why Nightwing chose blue for his original costume... Robin's egg blue... Am I slow?)
Meanwhile, aside from being a small flying creature, the Robin identity/moniker is completely different from Batman's, and doesn't even feature a suffix like his does (such as boy/man/lad/etc.) (Thank the gods we didn't end up with Robinlad.) The Robin identity stands alone, even among many major DC heroes... It needs no support or confinement from identifying information such as Woman or Man or Boy or Girl (Imagine if Superman was just The Super... Wonder Woman just The Wonder... Just Aqua... etc. Ew.) It is both unique to Dick, being his mother's nickname for him, and meant for passing on, being gender/age/etc. nonspecific.
Batman and Robin's identities/themes are also completely different... You've got the Dark Knight and the Boy Wonder. Additionally, Robin's costume doesn't have any animal elements-- it doesn't even follow Batman's theme of the costume reflecting the features and/or color palette of the animal namesake. Where's Robin's dumb little beak mask and cape cut like bird wings (Hawk & Dove anyone?) Where did the green and yellow come from? And where are Robin's pants?
So what do we get from this?
Well, from an Arthurian perspective... I really wonder why the hell Kane, Finger, and Robinson made him this way. (Does Robinson being one of the creators have anything to do with it?)
From a mixed Arthurian/Watsonian perspective, maybe Batboy/kid/lad/etc isn't intimidating enough. Unlike most heroes, one of Batman's main strategies is to inspire fear and one of his main appeals is that he's edgy and dark and brooding. But why not Blue Bat then? Why a wee little songbird? (I know they were trying to soften Batman's image by adding Robin but still, they weren't trying to make him lil songbird soft.) Why the Boy Wonder, why the goofy (but iconic) color scheme and (I ask you again) why no pants?
OKAY I WANTED TO LEAVE THAT THEORIZING IN BUT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND:
Robin is DC's first sidekick. In fact, as far as I could find, Robin is THE FIRST superhero sidekick. It's not that Robin's creators were shaking things up with their sidekick... It's that most of the creators of sidekicks with derivative identities were being lazy. RIP.
Anyway, a Watsonian perspective (because let's be honest, what we care about is the implications on story and character,) and this is where it gets good... Maybe Bruce a. didn't want Dick to turn out anything like him, and b. wanted Dick to have the opportunity to develop his own identity, not living in the shadow of The Bat. We see other sidekicks struggling with not being The Real Thing... Thinking they're never quite as good as the original, always living in the shadow of their hero. Bruce was never asking Dick to be just like him-- that's the last thing he'd want.
Bruce was never the best father, but maybe, just maybe, he got this one thing right.

Question: What motivated you to even begin doing all this, all the Hope Universe?
(人◕ω◕) Interesting question. Well I suppose it really boils down to three things really. @wesst1 story "Everyday life with ultimate girls" which you can find here. @pyropsychiccollector story "Danganronpa: Another IF" which you can find here
And the fact that generally speaking, Makoto is not only the most unpopular main character but also he is the only one that actually inspires me. Right. So Why did I bring up Wesst1 and pyro? Well because both of them helped me get into exploring Makoto with others. See, I used to be a bog standard Naegiri & Naekusaba fan. Didn't really think much of shipping the egg with others. But reading Danganronpa: Another IF by @pyropsychiccollector really sold me on NaeCeles around Chapter 3 and Naezono throughout the story From there I became obsessed with other types of shipping and pyro will tell you I quickly reached out to him and well here we are XP But in the early days we were also talking about NaeChisa when there were like 1-3 images out there on the entire internet. And yeah...I quickly fell down the rabbit hole. NaeHina, Naekawa, NaeJunko, Naezono and after reading @wesst1 story, my mind blew wide open. The way he set it up by having Makoto interact with OTHER Girls from GD and V3....Yeah man that shit was revolutionary. Suddenly I had a reference point to expand beyond my initial Class 78 girls with the egg. From here on, I just wanted to explore shipping Makoto with others. Sonia, Akane, Mikan, Ibuki (@pyropsychiccollector she's still an agent of chaos), Miu, Kaede, Angie, Tenko, etc And well funnily enough I started getting into Koikatsu around this time. Same program I use for all my 3D stuff. See, on a site called Pixiv there was this guy called Demco. He made all the main series characters sans Ruruka and Seiko. But there was a rub. He was SUPER paranoid? Controlling? XDDD @notpistol knows what I'm talking about. He basically had this rule where you couldn't share his danganronpa characters at all or he'll private everything and you wouldn't get access to future updates of a character as he improved the designs. Several times though they would get leaked and he eventually went nuclear and just stopped making cards and took down all his links. Around this time I had to quite literally look at pictures he would still post and figure out the new changes and looks and replicate it myself (with limited success). So Demco became this new....goal or rival to beat XDDD I would tell @pyropsychiccollector about Demco's madness but brilliance and my desire to succeed him.
So I practiced and developed my skills. Not long after I began making my own characters Demco never made like Miaya and the Student Council~ Those were my first ever characters I made that nobody did. @notpistol also started making the spin-off/LN/Manga characters like Sayaka's idol group or Yui and Hiroko! So between the two of us and I forgot to add but there was a lad who made Seiko and Ruruka and did a GOD tier job with the early designs. Also, someone made Danganronpa Another cards but they....weren't that good XDDD. But yeah between me and @notpistol we basically started making every danganronpa character that had an image. I think though what made me really make the Hope universe was....okay. I finally became a solid creator. I could replicate/improve upon Demco's cards and I made new characters. But there wasn't a grand plan or anything. I was just using them for shipping stuff and my goal at the time was to show Makoto x <Insert Girl> art and family stuff.
Tumblr media
A NaeAngie family picture or Makoto with Tsumugi and their child or NaeCeles Family or Naekawa wedding. Stuff like that. My earliest Koikatsu work was in fact Makoto x Chisa and soon after Makoto x Celeste and Makoto x Junko. You seen the kids and stuff. However once I saw DRA1 and SDRA2 I decided.....I can make all of this work. XDDDD I became unapologetically greedy and decided to make a huge harem and @wesst1 already showed me it can be done! So I decided to incorporate fangan stuff but I didn't have an overall plan or story or anything. it was more or less "Hey I'm a huge Makoto harem shipper, here's this big family" But as I decided to add more characters and what not, I began figuring out who goes where. And creating the initial groundwork for classes. It wasn't until the brilliant @putaindeplagieur contacted me and made this kickass Excel spreadsheet listing all the classes, who teaches the classes and yeah we worked together for months and I pitched him the idea of opening up multiple schools and we (Mostly him) organized that shit! XDDDDD Which led to the Hope Universe we have. I wanted a corner of the internet where we get some wholesome fluff and family stuff with the egg. No deaths, no murder porn, none of that stuff. And I needed it because life fucking sucks here in America especially as a minority so it became this outlet for me. In my single-minded devotion to this project, I created something special with the help of @putaindeplagieur, @pyropsychiccollector and @notpistol Eventually though as of late last year I wanted to add some story to all of this. Me and @pyropsychiccollector have been spitballing idea's for skits and stuff and yeah. Laughing Man Saga for the family 15 years post Class 78 Graduation and I'm hard at work for the Kamukura/Tragedy story while they're at Hope's Peak.
Bit of a long read and stuff but yeah...I started this all not just to make makoto shippers happy and stuff but because It's therapeutic for me and maybe a few others. I know @makoto-naegi-stud-and-friends has also been making some Naegi centered stuff! I guess also another big part of WHY I made the hope universe is to give characters a better life. Junko is doing much better, Kanade, Ruruka, Seiko, Natsumi, Kotoko, Tsumugi, etc. I just wanted to take all these characters and put them in a better world (not a perfect one) free from all that despair and stuff. Real life is already fuckin miserable here with constant mass shootings, the far right losing their minds over LGBTQIA stuff and corporations turning America into Neo-Feudalism slowly over time. What do I gain from seeing so much darkness in DRA1/SDRA2? And yeah I also wanted to have characters from these fangans get a chance to be happy and stuff since projects either get canceled or we run into the initial dilemma of so much dark and depressing shit.
Dunno. For me at least, I need fluff since I'm always exposed to so much despair in real life. XDDD And I hope you all enjoy the stuff I do~

it's high time that i redid the ✨masterpost✨ of all the shit floating around this blog where i say anything arguably insightful, existential/philosophical, or even just teetering on the cusp of being vaguely intelligent, so voila here you go and fucking enjoy:
worth having a looksie through this: longwinded anon (LWA)✨ masterpost
and then because i am actually so proud of these i did video edits to lewis capaldi (he's my hozier fight me) and im sorry but my beat matching is insane, godlike even:
season 2 (forget me)
season 1 (heavenly kind of state of mind)
also:
did i get emotional over crowley's fall and having to leave behind his creations and aziraphale's various conflicts in faith? you're goddamn right i did (credit to hillywood for the fall scenes that sent me into a frenzy)
stuff that is potentially relevant to s3 or is essentially my safe space to shit on these two incompetent-ass characters for being the most ridiculous beings god ever conceived:
(be warned, all of these will conflict each other bc im a loose cannon, a wildcard, and can't settle on a single thing)
(no seriously my opinion changes over time so interpretations that i once held might no longer be the interpretation that i have now, ya feel me)
you wanted a s3 plot prediction, right?
aziraphale brought an ak-47 to a fist fight and ohooo boy did it have Consequences
god i really ought to work out a tagging system in here, huh - this is my ramble on what i think could have happened during the fall
just a small one on the 1967 scene and the holy water thing (tw: suicide)
crowley found the book of life and tbh it was very james bond of him
saraqael rapidly slotting into my top 5 GO characters based on a singular hc wahoo
fuckin ✨1941✨ (this also upsets ALL of my interpretations of the Final Fifteen which... well what can u do)
a fucking rug just put shivers down my spine
more on raphael/azazel/scapegoat/fall theory, glorious smart anons are feeding me yummy soup
perhaps a more comprehensive rambling on omelas, scapegoats, and Those Promo Photos
an updated maggie rambling why not, she's still giving me a headache (and this ask neatly summarises some stuff too!)
my boy crowley really doesn't like change, does he wee baby (may develop this into a full meta who knows)
you know i think heaven might just be the bad place, i know - shocker
god i hope i was possessed by agnes nutter when i wrote this
a gifset format bc i cba to write, but aziraphale might have been, or might become, raphael
ive lied like a rug in previous theory posts: THIS one, this time travel clusterfuck, is the bottom of the barrel
spent hours studying michael sheens face in utter disbelief that he is capable of portraying every emotion known to man, and wrote about it (ie my take on the kiss)
i think goob might have been more important in the mega miracle than we initially thought (and no - not in the way you're currently thinking)
aziraphale and suffering are pretty well acquainted with each other (warning: i absolutely HATE this meta it's so bad)
um i guess you could term this as god is dead theory? nietzsche strikes again anyway
we REALLY hit rock bottom in the theory stakes with this one, lads (it's about whether crowley does in fact fully remember the fall)
(REWORKED) greasy johnson is the second coming. that's it. that's the post.
finally wrote about the book of life well done me
crowley was offered the same chance as aziraphale, im fairly sure, and as far as ive seen noone noticed??
the motif of lies in job made me come over all poetic
relativity is NOT my milieu especially in GO but giving it my best shot
hahaha is everything aziraphale's fault hahahaha
fuckinnnn BOOOOOOKKKSSSSS
EVERY DETAIL MATTERS? YEAH I SHOULD FUCKING THINK SO (and im still keeping this on here bc if im right in s3 im never going to shut up)
job is crowley and crowley is job except job didn't get sent to sit on the naughty step
never thought id see the day where i analyse richard curtis' 4WAAF but this show has got me whipped, jumping through hoops and over stalls like a fucking show pony
i have the dreadful feeling that we might have been fools by sleeping on aziraphale's own angelic importance all this time
did the costume department just simply go ham in s2 or are the angel costumes Important?
more on outfits
ruminations on the fall, morality and omniscience vs. free will, and making choices as if i have any idea what im talking about
okay this one is a little shitpost-y but the message is sound and im an un-apologetic aziraphale supporter, sue me
a sprinkle of s2 symbology, a dash of ineffable plan speculation, and laure girlbossing on how the two go together mwah
this was sooooo tasty i love talking about nietzsche
honestly this one doesn't even have a theme i just like talking to people
okay so this is the genesis of my aziraphale defence league (population: like 15% of the fandom) but i will not stop until he gets the recognition and empathy he mf deserves
Cancel Metatron 2k23
this was pre-s2 but the concept still stands: something feels icky about crowley's fall narrative and the book of life is ringing alarm bells
the concept of pedestals is one of my juicy favourites in psychology and you will find out just how much if you stick around this blog long enough (aziraphale's critique)
and lastly crowley's narrative of his fall? hm, big issue there and honestly the root of all Crowley discourse on this blog, be duly warned
old stuff if you fancy having a giggle at my expense
come chat to me about things

makes me laugh how many people were calling lando a shit teammate and assuming oscar would hate him before they had even met for the first time
oscar is looking at him like he hung the stars in the sky 90% of their interactions, they're laughing together, seem to get along just fine. like this is not meant to shit on dando in any way but lando and oscar have already had a smoother start than dando did, something tells me they don't despise each other like everyone wanted. (i mean shit could go down if mclaren ever develop a truly, consistently competitive car but people need to realize their best hope this year is maybe mclaren improving to at least solid midfield)
Never once have I personally seen anyone who was teammates with Lando have anything bad to say about him 🤷‍♀️ Jake Hughes said on a podcast once when they were talking to Max F that Lando was a "good lad" even though they were only teammates for like two races
Lando's still got friends from his karting days, he and Carlos were great teammates and are clearly still very good friends, and yes it was a rocky start with Daniel but by the end they seemed to be very good mates too
Part of the problem with the start of dando was all the hype because of their individual personalities, plus the slightly too bitey jokes at the end of Daniel's time at Renault plus the unfortunate portion of Dan's fanbase who take things too far and flooded spaces with comments about Daniel destroying Lando and sending him to FE... except none of that happened in 21, definitely didn't happen in 22, but despite all the other negativity surrounding McLaren and the season last year, dando was strong
My favouritest part is that there's an interview from the F1 post-race live show in Australia 22 where Oscar's there too and he's already got the heart eyes brewing - it doesn't surprise me now he's spent more time with Lando that the gremlin charm has taken hold
The other thing I've been made aware of is that Oscar has also pretty much always had solid and good relationships with his teammates, and I get the vibe the two of them are quite similar so that could also be why - either way despite the not so stellar first race result I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the two of them this season

One more idea just pops up in my mind. Jack is a uni student. A brilliant one but he is weak in one subject (can be maths or chemistry or any other as per your liking). So he requested his professor to arrange a tutor for him and he recommends Hendo. Hendo is doing his masters and sometimes on professor's requests he also gives tuition to weak student.
Hendo and Jack works together and as a result Jack got distinction in his exams. But along the way they developed feelings and the rest you know.
jack grealish/jordan henderson | a lesson in love ♡
Jack, a charming and brilliant university student, strolled into the library's group room with an air of nonchalance that couldn't hide the nervousness within. His academic record was impressive, except for one glaring weakness – a subject that stubbornly eluded his understanding.
"Hey." Jack began, flashing his trademark grin to the man he finds there. His new tutor presumably. Jack had seen him around campus before, tall with dark stubble and ever-gelled hair, obviously much older than him.
The man greeted him in return and asked him what it is he's looking to get tutored in.
"I was thinking I could use a bit of assistance in, you know, chemistry. Numbers aren't really my thing."
Jordan, a Master's student and part-time tutor, raised an eyebrow at Jack's request. He was well aware of Jack's academic prowess among the faculty and couldn't help but wonder what had brought the lad to seek help.
"Chemistry, huh?" Jordan mused, tapping his pen on the desk. "I thought your charm could solve any equation."
So Jordan had heard of his reputation then... Jack chuckled, the sound echoing through the room like a melody. "Well, it turns out charm isn't very effective against a stubborn chemical reaction. So, can you help me out?"
Jordan pretended to consider it, though the truth was, he'd been secretly hoping for this opportunity. "I suppose I could fit you into my busy schedule. You're lucky, though. Chemistry is my specialty."
And so, their tutoring sessions began – a dance of knowledge, laughter, and a growing connection that neither could deny. The chemistry between them wasn't confined to textbooks; it was in the stolen glances, the accidental brushes of hands, and the way their laughter harmonised.
As the weeks passed, Jack's understanding of chemistry improved, thanks in no small part to Jordan's patient explanations and good-natured banter. They found themselves lingering after sessions, talking about anything and everything but chemistry. The tutoring had become an excuse to spend more time together.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the campus was bathed in the soft glow of streetlights, Jack couldn't contain the question that had been bubbling within him.
"Hendo, why did you become a tutor anyway? I mean, with your brains, you could be doing anything else."
Jordan leaned back, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I enjoy helping people understand things. And I like challenges. Besides, there's something about seeing the 'aha' moment in someone's eyes that's incredibly rewarding."
Jack nodded, absorbing Jordan's words. "You've certainly given me plenty of those 'aha' moments. I'm grateful, you know."
Jordan's gaze softened, and he smiled. "It's been my pleasure, Jack. You're a good student – just needed a bit of guidance."
Their eyes locked, and in that moment, the unspoken tension in the air became palpable. Jordan cleared his throat, breaking the gaze.
"Well, you passed your exams with flying colours. I'd say my job here is done," he teased.
Jack, however, wasn't about to let the moment slip away. "Is it, though?" he retorted, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I might need a refresher course. Private lessons, perhaps?"
Jordan rolled his eyes, but the warmth in them betrayed his true feelings. "You're insufferable, Grealish."
Jack closed the distance between them, his voice dropping to a whisper. "But you love it."
The banter faded, replaced by a charged silence. The chemistry they'd been studying was nothing compared to the magnetic pull drawing them together. Jordan cupped Jack's face, and the room seemed to hum with anticipation.
Their lips met, a collision of longing and desire. It was a kiss that transcended the academic realm they'd been confined to, igniting a connection that went beyond chemistry – a connection written in the stars and sealed in a stolen moment between tutoring sessions.
As the kiss deepened, the chemistry they'd been studying became an afterthought. In the quiet room, illuminated only by the soft glow of the desk lamp, Jack and Jordan discovered that some equations can’t be solved on paper alone.

Dandelions Chapter IX - Cosmic Floop || Doctor Strange x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2K Rated M: includes portrayals of elements such as violence and themes that require a mature outlook. Special Mentions: Iron Man Ant-Man A/N: It's been 84 years. . . my writer's block for this was so bad.
One day is closing into two since the moment you left Eric alone in the korean restaurant. He's left you millions of missed calls and texts but got nothing in return. He wanted to report the police that you were missing and more importantly inform your father but you made him swear not to do anything that will bring attention to you—but you’re not here and he’s extremely worried, so he decided to pay your Dad, the chief of police, a visit.
Eric stood at the front of your childhood home where your father still resides. He’s literally about to break his promises to you since he just didn’t know what else to do. Eric practised what he was going to say, until he was interrupted by Ren who spoke through the door cam.
“Usually people knock to get the home owner’s attention.”
Eric jumped and looked into the camera, “Uncle Ren! Thank goodness you’re home, please let me in.”
The screen turned black and Eric heard his uncle's heavy footsteps coming towards the door. A few moments later, Ren opened the door for Eric and stepped aside. Ren watched Eric closely as he entered and paced around the living room, clearly worried about something–the lad couldn’t stop mumbling to himself, giving Ren every reason to think whether his nephew took some illicit drugs.
“Why don’t you sit down Eric? You’re making me dizzy.” Ren told the lad and closed the door. He made his way to his armchair and took a seat, giving Eric a puzzled look, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s (Y/N)…” Eric fiddled with his fingernails, avoiding eye contact with his uncle, his leg shaking uncontrollably, “She uh…developed these powers—”
“What?!” Ren yelled out of shock, the look on his face darkening. Clearly he knows something, possibly more, “How long has she had it?”
Eric flinched when Ren raised his voice, Eric opened his mouth but nothing was coming out.
“Eric…how long has she had these powers?” Ren repeated his question with more grit.
“Since she came back from the blip—I tried very hard to convince her to tell you but she made me promise not to—I haven’t heard from her since she left me at the restaurant yesterday. I tried calling her but I failed time and time again to reach her. She’s missing.” Eric blurted out in one breath and felt relieved he finally got it out of his system.
“Did she tell you where she was going before she left?”
“No, she left in a rush—she just started feeling quite scared all of a sudden and told me that she’s getting this strong feeling in her gut that she needed to go.”
“This is bad…” Ren mumbled, “I don’t understand… Annie took her memories away.”
“W-what do you mean took her memories away—What’s bad? If you have something to say uncle, now might be the best time because I am so confused right now. Your daughter is missing! We should be reporting it.”
“The police won’t be able to help us Eric—this is beyond their pay grade.” Ren pauses with a big sigh, “The vision Annie warned me about. . .”
“Vision? What vision? You’re still speaking cryptic language—”
“It’s the infinity stones Eric—assuming the avengers travelled back in time to retrieve them, it only means they’ve been destroyed, weakening the universe’s defences to that ever comes next.”
Eric stared at his uncle like he was some kind of lunatic, “Don’t you think it would’ve been helpful to tell your daughter about her roots?!”
“You don’t understand, the more she knows, the more she draws danger to herself. I’ve been trying to protect her ever since she was a child—we need to find her.”
“I think I might know where to start,” Eric swallows the guilt in his throat for breaking his promise to you, “She brought home books after she met up with Doctor Strange.”
Ren closes his lids and exhales as if trying to keep himself calm and not snap, “Great—she’s associated herself with an Avenger. Looks like we’ll be paying his residence a visit.”
“Holy shit.” Those were the first words that came out of Tony Stark’s mouth when he saw you and Stephen for the first time, “Can I?” Tony asked as he stepped closer to you and squeezed your cheeks together, studying your face in astonishment, “Creepy.”
You stare at Tony the same way he was staring at you, “You don’t say…”
“So have you like…mastered necromancy?” Scott Lang’s eyeballs flickered from you to Stephen, making sure to keep a fair distance from you, in case you were a zombie.
“We don’t do that kind of magic.” Iron Stephen simply answered and then Scott turned to Stephen with a fascinated look. Stephen furrowed his brows at Scott, giving him a dirty look.
“Look at this clone—I’m still amazed at how you do this Doc, he looks so real.” Scott stood in front of Stephen with a broad smile and went for his arms squeezing Stephen’s biceps. Iron Strange opened his mouth to say that Stephen wasn’t a clone but it was too late, “Oh… feels real too.”
Scott moved his hands to Stephen’s face and patted his cheeks. With the most unimpressed look on his face Stephen said, “Get your hands off of my face.”
Scott took a small step back and pointed at Stephen, “He’s not a clone is he?”
“No.” Iron Strange shook his head, pressing his lips to a thin line to suppress a chuckle while Rintrah and Wong turned away with a snicker.
“Oh… Sorry.” Scott laughed sheepishly, “So if she’s not back from the dead and he’s not a clone—then where did the cosmic floop did they come from?”
“Have you not told Scott why I invited both of you here?” Iron Strange asked, sounding a bit annoyed at Tony while crossing his arms.
“Sorry, I thought you were the one who’s going to tell him?” Tony shrugged with a tight-lipped smile—he purposely didn’t tell Scott to mess with him. Iron Strange shook his head. They just wasted precious time trying to figure each other out.
“Hold on—What does he mean back from the dead?” You butted in with a worried expression on your face.
“Wait—she doesn’t know?” Tony pointed at you and Iron Strange discreetly gestured his hand over his neck to cut it out, in which Stephen noticed.
“Know what?” You look at both of them confused and concerned.
"Yeah what are you not telling us?" Stephen squinted his eyes.
“Wouldn't you like to know?" Iron Strange sarcastically replied towards Stephen first and then you, "It means exactly what it means. You’re dead in this universe.” He bluntly answered before anyone else did, he didn’t want to talk about it. Your face turned grim, “Anyway, to answer your question Scott, they’re from another universe.”
Scott cocked his head and began laughing out loud until he looked around at everyone and noticed that he was the only one laughing, “Ha…hah… He’s not kidding.”
"You're his wife in this universe!" Tony blurted out and then abruptly covered his mouth. He couldn’t help it.
"WHAT?" You and Stephen said in unison.
"Oh shit—did I just think out loud? Sssssorry." Tony drawled and shrugged nonchalantly all the while avoiding eye contact with Iron Strange. He had no business stirring the pot but their Stephen looked like he was in pain.
Iron Strange is looking away from you now in an effort to avoid eye contact. You now understand the reason he presented you with that necklace; nonetheless, you are perplexed as to the source of his anger towards Stephen. Is it possible that he is angry with himself?
Stephen’s annoying grimace disappeared only to be replaced by a sharp scowl in your direction. Me? With her? I'd rather shoot myself in the foot. Stephen thought to himself. He can’t imagine being with anyone else apart from Christine.
"What about Christine?" He glanced towards himself who only scowled back at him.
"Who’s Christine?" Iron Strange replied.
Stephen's eyes widened, and it appeared as though he was almost insulted—no he is insulted by the fact that this man does not know who Christine is.
You were about to say a few choice words to him when Tony stepped forward. Good lord, the man was still a sight to behold, "Anyways let's move on?"
Stephen agreed, “Yeah. I have a question. Can you just explain to me how Tony and Scott are supposed to help?”
“If Tony can make time travel possible, with Scott’s help, I’m sure he has the brain big enough to create a multiverse machine.” Iron Strange confidently answered Stephen.
“Wow. I never thought you thought so highly of me, don’t stop now.” Tony chuckled and earned a dirty look from Iron Strange.
“Could that even be possible?” Wong asked.
“There’s a chance it could be possible—I mean, the Quantum Realm is a mostly unknown domain, so if we can discover a method to combine magic and science into a single machine, that's one way for you to leave,” Tony explained but he had doubts in his mind, because last time he created a time machine, Thanos got through from the past, “But there’s always risks.”
“Yeah, no shit Sherlock.” Stephen agreed.
“The thing is, I have to rebuild the quantum tunnel, it was destroyed when Thanos attacked the Avengers compound years ago.”
“Maybe you can use my van?” Scott suggested.
“That ugly brown van is still in one piece?” Stephen turned to Scott.
“Doc…that van might be your ticket out of here, give it a little respect.” Scott placed his hand over his chest, slightly offended by Stephen’s comment. Scott pressed his car keys causing the van to play its infamous horn, la cucaracha, “And yes, it's still in one piece.”
“Great. Leave it to me, Scott and his ugly brown van.” Tony patted Stephen’s shoulder with a massive grin before approaching Iron Strange. They turned their backs towards the group, “I’m going to ask you one last time, are you sure they can be trusted?” Tony whispered to Stephen.
Stephen looked back and shook his head, “Well, no but if the Scarlet Witch is strong enough to send creatures here to kill them, then we have every reason to get them out of here. You wouldn’t want to bring the Scarlet Witch here would you?”
“Say this works, what if this is the reason we bring it into our universe? Look at what happened before, we brought Thanos here.” Tony argued.
“Stark, the longer they stay here the more dangerous it becomes and it will be out of our control—so you choose, at least if something comes through, we can just kick their asses goodnight.”
"Just?" Tony sighed, seeing that Stephen has got a point, “I’ll see what I can do— Alright Scott! You’re coming with me, I need data from your Quantum Research.”
“You’re doing the right thing Tony.” Iron Strange nodded.
“When am I not?” Tony smirks and pats Strange's shoulders before turning back around to face the group.
Scott lifted his hands up to imply that he wanted to say something.
"Yes? Scott?" Tony addressed him.
"Uh. I almost forgot. We need Pym Particles to enter the quantum realm and Hank ain't giving those out willy nilly." Scott chuckled sheepishly, "The Quantum Realm is a terrifying and treacherous place to be. We have no idea what might be hiding in there. It's possible that there are whole civilizations hidden in there.."
"We're going to steal it then, you're an expert at thievery, Scott. Maybe call up Luis—" Tony suggested.
"Oh god." Stephen said in the background.
"Are you serious? We can't do that, I've put that life behind me." Scott gave a little shake of the head, and when Tony moved in closer, Scott retreated a little further.
"We're stealing it." Tony reiterated what he had said earlier, but this time he did so in a more serious approach.
"Alright fine! I'll contact Luis."

Hi, I'm new here and I really love your Let Me Try series. Can I ask who did you created first? And what made you create them thanks! If you don't mind me asking :) sorry if you answered this already!
Hello and welcome!!<3
Ohh I actually really had to think about this?? Either my memory is really bad or I genuinely just wasn't paying that much attention back when I started writing the first bits of LMT... Because I can't really remember where these specific lads came from? Obviously I didn't foresee how much time I'd be spending with this series in the future and how important these characters would become to me :')
It was supposed to be a quick thing to get me writing again, so everything kind of developed from there with time. I did do some character / background planning etc before I wrote anything, as that's just how I've always rolled with writing and creating characters.
I don't remember too much, mostly that I hadn't been writing in forever, like in years and years, and I really just wanted to get back to it. I do remember being super nervous about posting the first part!🙈 I genuinely thought no one would ever find it, considering it's original work and not a part of some big popular fandom that'd automatically have an audience. I remember thinking; okkk so I just wanna write something and maybe get some feedback on it, and although I'm not really a No-Plot filth/smut writer, filth is universal, so even if it's original work someone might come across it if I make it spicy... big brain moves loll
And then I lured a bunch of yous in with the filth just to punch you in the feels with the later parts of the series >:)
The first one to be created was Nathan though, that's for sure! But I don't remember why how where what etc. He just came to be, and then he was vibin' for a bit, and then I made him suffer a lil because... I dunno, I just felt cute like that 😭 xx

Greetings !
Well. I have to say. The arc *Damage Done* was quite a fascinating one ,with issue 143 and 144 being the high lights to me tbh.
I will be focusing on 144 this time, takeing into account that it's the end of this arc and it did tied everything up quite intriguingly.
First of all. Loved how it ended. It was left pretty open for interpretations and theories ,yet, didn't feel incomplecte and made sens in the current context.
Second of all. The potential for new arcs is absolutely crazy. Like. It was already made clear that you do have something in mind for Alopex...but, after that finale, I didn't expect to see soooo much intriguing details that can play in her story.
Mushroom haveing the dragon scale and the fact even Venus said she was powerful had me extremely interested for future development. Same can be said about the fact Al is going with the little ones to Alaska. I mean...every time she went there, some very important and personal stuff happened to her.
First was with Saki, in which he destroyed pretty much everything from her past life. Then, was the fight with Kitsune, that was trying to make her into a slave. And now...well, I can only imagine for the moment what will happen, seeing that now she also has the company of the little ones...with one of them haveing quite a great and impressive source of power on her.
Speaking of that power....is that dragon scale going to do something... literally anything about the fact that ..you know..Mushroom still has those human limbs (which..I think are taken from little kids, seeing that it fits her perfectly. ...Again, not sure about that part yet .) attached to her. Still not fully ok with that part tbh.😅.
Another curiosity I have about the issue is...why was Leatherhead on the same train with Alopex and the little ones? Is that going to get any follow up as well? Also. Very happy with the fact that Leatherhead is alive and well. Him being a future allie to the turtles is something that I really wanted to see again.
The part with Barlow was satisfying ,even tho, I would love to see the version in which he dies thanks to Leatherhead....especially for everything he did.
...Tho. Haveing him as an actual lad rat dose fit as a nice poetic justice.
I can't wait for the road to 150 and to find out more about Armaggon and how can he be stopped...even if it's not permanent. Also. Is Raph, Mikey and Jeny going to take part in this new arc in any important way? Or it will be more about Leo and Don ( along with Bob, Carmen, Lita, Venus and April)?
And, was that part with Raph and his road trip somehow infuence by what was said by Kitsune in issue 139?
PS. Again. Overall 9/10 for this arc and a 9.5/10 issue. Can't wait for what's next.
Thanks as always for reading, glad you liked it! :D
You'll have to wait and see what Mushroom does with her dragon scale. She has some sort of connection with Leatherhead so that may be why he's following her and the Claw clan! ;)
The next arc is mostly Don and Leo but Mikey will make an appearance, and there are future time period versions of the Turtles that show up, too. Any further details than that I can't reveal yet!

the full time whistle is blown. bottles scattered all around, disappointment written all over his face. he realises how alone he is with all this burden, so much responsibility to carry, yet, none at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
is he happy he won't get blamed? or is he sad that his currently biggest rival might get blamed for not doing more? why is he everything that's on his mind. all the time.
aaron's feelings towards david haven't changed during these past few weeks. he went from being sceptical of mikel's decision to bring a new keeper into the team to realising he's actually a lovely lad to realising he might as well be slowly replaced. quietly. mikel sat him down and explained his decision to rotate keepers when the season had just begun - kind of like the match plan of pep. aaron wasn't happy with that decision but decided to play along, realistically, what could he do about it anyway? the media viewed all this as a very weird move from mikel - aaron was to be england's number one someday, so they said at least, he thought he didn't perform so badly last season, at least not bad enough to be blatantly replaced by a loan keeper. so mikel was meaning to rotate the squad - maybe play david whenever they were up against smaller clubs, aaron still being their undisputed number one. but as the season progressed, he realised that this wasn't the case. he had indeed been replaced. quietly. as if no one would notice. worst thing about it was that david performed on the same level as him, perhaps even better.
aaron couldn't help it but blame it on himself. his confidence was on an all time low. he trained with the others, putting on a happy face, waiting for his time to shine again. david was always around, he hated how much he liked him. he felt like he shouldn't. david was being genuine all the time, he could tell. he wasn't two faced, wasn't plotting, wasn't scheming. he was a goofball, a joker. someone who would always there for you, always knew how to see positives in things. but he was also naive, easily to manipulate. he was older than aaron, yet much more childlike, inexperienced. not in football, but in life. ben and martin joked about taking him to night out to get him laid, get him a girl, but david shied away, almost as if he was scared. the others kept joking about david being a virgin, but that was not the reason.
the looks david would give aaron sometimes were quite clear, even with language barriers, no words needed. "i think he's got a crush on ya" ben would say often. ben was bi himself, so he was likely not taking the piss here, no judgement whatsoever. aaron would laugh it off, not making anything of it. "well, he can try." but secretly he hated the idea of david taking a liking in him, as more than a friend. even if it was just a silly crush - aaron hated the idea of it. bloody hated it. david was not supposed to like him, aaron was not supposed to like david. that's not what rivals do - they don't develop feelings for the other, they don't yearn for the times they'd bump into each other during training, not the hug they'd give each other in front of thousands of fans after a match.
they don't fall in love. they don't. the talks were there, but they're just empty words. rumours would always arise, but luckily they were quickly overshadowed by declan's and kai's arrivals at the club. suddenly they were in everyone's mouth, david and aaron would only come second now, maybe even third. why did aaron bother that? why did he enjoy the attention the others would give him and david? the times martin would come to him and tell him the things he's supposedly heard, about how david apparently had a wank once and moaned aaron's name in the showers. how he immediately stopped when he suspected someone spying on him. or how embarrassed david would get whenever someone would jokingly say he's had a thing for aaron. these things happen all the time - players would hit it off and then move on. no shame in that, they're all pretty open about it.
but the attention went onto new players, overshadowing aaron and david, as if their supposed thing never existed. as if it never happened, it vanished as quickly as it came. and it didn't, it never existed. not to them, but to the others.

"I feel like the writers are speed running the square a little too much this season."
Well, considering how one of the biggest complaints was how long it was taking them to get together, and how many people claimed to have stopped shipping them because of how long it was taking, I don't really blame them.
Even if I don't ship the square anymore, I'm glad we're getting some developement now. I really am. But looking at the entire show, why did we have 4 seasons of almost nothing and all the developement only happens in season 5? From season 1-4, we only had developement on one side of the square, which is Lady//noir, where LB learns that CN likes her but she rejects him but he's not giving up bla bla, and then the whole Ladynoir conflict in s4 (which I still think was pretty pointless but that's another can of worms). Other than that, their dynamic never fundamentally changes. Adrie//nette was always "Mari is too anxious to talk to Adrien the king of obliviousness", and Lad//rien and Mari//chat were almost non-existent (I can count the amount of episodes about them on one hand).
In determination, we learn that Adrien started to develop feelings in Puppeteer 2. If that's the case, how tf is it possible that this hasn't been broughg up or hinted at for one and a half seasons? Adrien's behavior never really changed that much around Marinette and if he hadn't said anything about the statue scene, I would've never guessed (as always, tell don't show). Heck, he even dated Kagami during that time! For Marinette to notice Chat in a different way, it was pretty abrupt. She rejects his advances all the time, but he just needs to be supportive and heroic one time and she goes all bisou bisou miaou miaou on him in 0.5 seconds. This could've happened way sooner and the the writers would actually have time to let Marinette process her feelings considering chat blanc and all that. But no, Mari loves cat boy and all logic flies out if the window immediately bc of course it does.
The writers dragged the whole thing out with filler, what-if-memory-loss stuff and two love rivals (you know I love Luka and Kagami so so much, but the Luka//nette and Adri//gami arcs, as much as I love those ships, were nothing but filler in the grand scheme of things, nobody involved got any meaningful character developement out of it) without doing anything and now they have to speedrun everything because they think that's what a slowburn is, not giving the characters any time to think about anything and writing them slightly ooc (Marinette pursuing Chat this intensly SO SOON is ooc you can't change my mind).
It's giving "I have an assignement due to midnight so I'll prepare some notes slowly and write the paper itself at 23:55"
