- She'd love Fleabag

- I'm Not Okay With This

- The Queens Gambit

- Everything Now

- Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (her and Becky would have watched this (Becky would have made her) and afterwards Becky would start talking about how much she loves Michael Cera)

- Young Royals (Michael would make her watch it and they would both cry)

- The End of the F***ing World (would binge this in a night)

- Black Mirror (would watch one episode of this about once a month or just really sporadically)

- Moon Knight (I feel like she wouldn't watch a lot of Superhero things and would generally not like Marvel because of how they've changed and a lot of the movies now are just an overload of CGI instead of focusing on the quality of plot, but Nick would have been trying to convince Charlie to watch something Marvel and Tori would have just been there in the room and sort of felt bad, so then when he would have suggested Moon Knight she would have watched it with him and actually really like it)

- I also can imagine Tori, Michael, Charlie and Nick all sitting together in Autumn and watching Gilmore Girls and making fun of it and just making jokes about it and just generally not taking it seriously.

- Nick and Charlie would make her watch Good Omens and consider it a crime that she hasn't watched it yet

I can't really imagine her liking many TV shows to be honest. I feel like she would either just watch a lot of really short shows that she could either binge in a night or a week, or stupidly long ones that just go on forever. I feel like she wouldn't be properly watching the really long ones, and just have it in the background of things or just watch it with Charlie as just another background noise.

And also, as an extrovert - two weeks alone? i also would not be in good place. 2020 was hell. two weeks with no meaningful human contact right after losing or functionally losing the people i care most about in the world? no way I'm coming out of that okay.

Factual!! ctommy had like 3 people he even really liked or spent time with before that and one had just abandoned him and told him to die (and then laughed at his exile), one had just blown up his city and then died himself, and one had actually been the person to actually exile him. Like ctommy really only spent time with the pogtopia crew and by the time exile rolls around they’re totally split apart.

Two weeks alone is bad enough for me - I’m an extrovert too lol - but if I had to be alone right after losing my friends pretty fucking spectacularly on TOP of having my closest relative/BFF/caretaker die? Lmfao.

Anyway I love ctommy I totally relate to him and exile arc was insane and changed me fundamentally forever <3

Thank you!!! I‘ve been selfshipping with Kaiba for almost 8 years now! But for a long time I actually didn’t even know what selfshipping was and that I was already doing it subconsciously with him🙈 I became aware of my feelings and what I was doing around the time of the japanese release of DSOD in spring 2016 (which is why I chose it as our anniversary date) so the actual time would probably be closer to 9 or 10 years? It’s really hard to say when I actually started which is why I go with the time I‘ve knowingly done it and fully committed to it😇

Ohmygod yes, the serum amplifies your “you-ness” and I think I’ve only once seen anyone ever apply that to Bucky. As the Winter Soldier in fact. All that kindness and loyalty and protectiveness and resilience (even his natural curiosity and wonderment) and it’s just exploited and used by his captors. It’s actually a really good series, A Hazy Shade of Winter by FlamingoQueen. If anyone knows any other fics that play with this, I’d really love to read them.

I think both the concrete and abstract reading of this is possible. Erskine could be talking about the serum quite literally amplifying character traits. I think you've got to be careful with this particular portrayal so that it doesn't fall into the trap of being deterministic, i.e. the very notion that Steve was trying to fight against, that goodness is inherent and your value is determined by birthright. Like yes, we all have variations in our personalities, but goodness comes from what we choose to prioritise. Steve’s personality and Sam’s personality are both very different, but they are both good people whose moral codes align.

The second, more abstract reading is that Erskine was saying the serum brought power, and power gave people confidence, and that confidence amplified people's desires. What made Steve special was that his biggest desire was to fight on behalf of the weak and marginalised. As opposed to Walker and Blonsky, who simply wanted to enforce the will of the American forces, or the Winter Soldiers, who presumably had their own motivations that made them dangerous once they realised they could overwhelm their handlers.

If we take this view, though, this means that what is amplified is people's willingness to take a risk and pick the battles they previously wouldn't, in other words, this is a choice-based "amplification".

Which brings me back to Bucky, who after the serum, had to have his choices taken away in order to make him pliable. This means whatever lay under all that mind control was a man who, if given the choice, would have worked against Hydra and all that it meant.

Your theory on abilities being a trauma response is actually kind of correct! In the Gaiden light novel, it was stated that people develop abilities after some major event occurs rather than being born with them. I apparently can't send images on anon, so instead I'll copy and paste the specific excerpt I'm referring to (all translation credit goes to profqlasses on Twitter, she really did us Gaiden fans a massive service with her translation).

It's kind of a long excerpt (so sorry for how much space this'll take up in your inbox), but it's really interesting and important. I'd also like to specifically emphasize the part where Ayatsuji says that "it's no wonder if one or two abilities would get involved there". One or two. This confirms that people can develop several abilities, which is an absolutely fascinating concept.

Anyway, Gaiden is literally So important to overall BSD lore, and it pains me that it's so criminally underrated. So, if you have the time, I highly suggest reading it :)

The several abilities part is quite interesting as it could be reminiscent of people having multiple trauma responses/coping mechanisms in the face of trauma

Peoples abilities being uncontrollable at first is also important as for many people who have trauma it can be difficult for them to prevent the negative effect of their trauma and in Bsd it seems to be that the people with the most control over their ability have some sort of support system or recovery. Even characters like Akutagawa who seems to have control over his ability but he in fact uses it in a very self destructive way that only really causes harm to himself and others (this isn’t to say he’s bad due to his trauma that is a contributing factor but mental illness is a reason not an excuse)

This is also has interesting for Dazai as he has one of the most uncontrolled abilities, he’s constantly in defence mode as well as this he is the most obviously traumatised characters, as shown by his constant suicide attempts, manipulation and self sabotage. This means it may be possible that with some character development and healing he’ll be able to turn his ability off one day

The box is wide open and I can see a couple in there in Bad Idea's universe that I've been thinking about ^^,

Doc wasn't the first alpha Bdubs bitched. Although it wasn't as accidental since Impulse did ask for it (there was still a scuffle but that's pretty standard with the whole bitching process).

Doc still has anosmia so he's usually unaffected by pheromones in general. It does have a range though and because he's not used to it he gets hit hard whenever someone gets close enough to reignite his senses.

as we've seen with 'a bad idea' everyone's secondaries aren't really too set in stone, alphas and omegas can switch at a dime. Betas though... I kinda see them as blank slates, they can get... "filled" with either pheromone that may cause some temporary changes.

There was this one time Grian won a civil war by pumping this.. double crossing mole with a ton of omega pheromones and had him distract the other team's alpha leader 😏.

That's all of it so far I suppose, I haven't thought of em too much just little snippets here and there.

in all honesty, i expected them at least making an attempt to jump into the children’s waterpark place market at least once, so the announcement of such a thing isn’t that shocking to me. but at the same time, it does feel a little off. i mean, good for them, but i just hope that they at least get to show more of the character’s personality off eventually somehow. great wolf lodge actually has a animated TV show (it only plays in their hotel rooms, when i stayed with my family i had to watch it LMAO) and a movie to introduce their characters, who before this rehaul were barely used as actual characters and just mascots. the TV show actually wasn’t too bad, kinda cliche in the cartoon adventure aspect yeah, but it fleshed out the characters a LOT compared to what they were before. i feel like that would be a good choice for CEC to follow, if showtapes are no longer a thing, make little cartoon episodes (thinking of that one halloween short that referenced the bear game. or even just the pumpkins in my pockets music video, the art style there was so good) to show off the characters now. (i am so sorry for the wall of text<//3)

I’ve actually posted about the great wolf lodge cartoon on here a couple of times and I agree, it could be a glimpse into the future for cec. the full movie was uploaded to youtube a while back:

it feels like a smart, modern reboot of the brand. a little corny, but pretty well done considering that they had even less to work with character-wise than cec does, lol.

I could see them doing something like this eventually but in the meantime more short-form content may be a good idea. even dropping the occasional non-musical story driven puppet skit (animation is expensive!) between song releases would go a long way in helping people get to know these characters.

I thought for a while that Wittebro's eyes must have been red-ish because it's such an important detail for the grimwalkers to have such eyes.

but then, what would be worse?

Hmm...I always thought that the red eyes are a grimwalker thing in general, so this possibility never occurred to me. But it's still interesting!

Since they are artificially created, requiring various magical items, I think Hunter's red eyes are the closest Philip can get them to a normal color.

At first, I think he tried everything to get that right too, but then he realized. Familiarity brought affection, and the closer it got to perfect, the more disobedient his brother became, because of the way Philip treated him.

So after a while (five, I think he had reached a breaking point after five), he just stopped trying to get the eyes right.

He needed the red eyes as a reminder, he decided this when he saw one of the grimwalkers, sleeping. The more he looked, the stranger the sight got.

He couldn't escape from the thought that no matter how much it seems like it, these will never be his brother, they will be but a complete stranger in his body.

He probably started to worry that one day, he might forget about this, and the story will end with his death, this time.

(And seeing his brother again doesn't worth possibly losing control over him.)

When they die and he looks them in the eye, the wrong eye color doesn't represent his own failure. It's Caleb's imperfection, try to beguile him even in death, but Philip is good, he won't be fooled so easily, because he can't forget about his betrayal.

The information about YJR’s parents being not only members of Lord of Chaos, but hunted down and possibly killed by the Lords of Order got me thinking (and suggest this concept idea to you): What if instead of being actual lords, the blood binders were agents of chaos like Dr. Fate was an Agent of Order? But because Klarion (a Lord of Chaos) currently exists on earth’s dimension, it was considered as a “disrupt of balance” by the Lords of Order and Nabu was tasked on getting rid of any blood binders to the point of being endangered and causing them to go into hiding. Then YJR’s parents (descendants of blood binders unless they have a long lifespan) were the last known blood binders to exist until Nabu offed them (upon orders from the Lord of Order) and it was thought that the Blood Binders were extinct until YJR’s found out about her magical powers. And I like to imagine Nabu meeting YJR and seeing her powers in action…

I’m going to set this interaction in the Alternative Ending to WHWD (aka the one where YJR has a good relationship with the team and is Zatanna’s girlfriend):

Reader wants to fight Nabu for taking away the chance to live with her biological parents, but can’t consider that Nabu is currently possessing Zatanna’s father. If she were to fight Nabu, she won’t be doing any harm to him at all except towards Zatara. So, it’s more of a one-sided fight where Reader is only defending (as in blocking or canceling spells) herself from Nabu’s attack until the Justice League is able to intervene.

Ooof the first para was a little difficult for my tiny brain to understand if I'm being honest😅😅

So I'm just gonna go to the second para (also let's imagine that she actually remembers the massacre of her people for this scenario)

Tbh YJR would never fight Nabu, so if they were ever in a fight it would most likely be what you described, with her only performing defense spells

The reason being that she has absolutely no idea how to separate the helmet from Zatanna's father and every time she meets Nabu, it's taking everything to control her absolute rage toward him and she knows the second she throws an offensive spell, she will not be able to stop herself until he's dead

She couldn't do that to Zatanna. Not just because she's her girlfriend, but because she couldn't rob her of her only remaining family like Nabu had done to her.

She doesn't want to cause the pain she had received to anybody.

YJR doesn't tell the team about what she's been through, about what Nabu put her through but they all suspect something because everytime they run into Nabu, she stops attacking all together and just turns into a shell of herself, trying not to get emotional and instead just shutting down.

Zatanna faces the brunt of it when the fight is over. YJR completely shuts down for a while after fighting with Nabu, she gets cold to touch, silent and just lost in her own thoughts. It scares Zatanna tbh, and she begins dreading anytime they meet, which breaks her heart a little.

And all that's running in YJR's head is shame, because she refuses to avenge her family, her people, all because of his daughter.

She always ends up wondering if she doesn't kill him because she's too weak or too strong.

Sometimes in the dead of the night, she thinks of going to klarion and asking him to take care of everything, to ambush nabu, to kill him and not leave a trace, to avenge their people without placing the burden on her but she doesn't.

Instead she just curls into herself and tries to forget everything. Forget her parents, forget her people, forget her pain.

The next morning she cooks Zatanna an apology breakfast and when her girlfriend sees her smile, she knows that everything is okay.

Zatanna doesn't know that this facade of hers is the reason she wants to die some nights.

The people who want Chaldea Anastasia to interact with Kadoc make me think wow. This boy is gonna fucking die if that happens. Anastasia wants nothing to do with her lostbelt version and that also means Kadoc. For the man's own good keep them at a distance unless you want him to die sooner than fgo wants him to.

Ya gotta admit though it'd be hella poetic. Kadoc had to twist his own version of Anastasia to accomplish what he wanted, but the cruelty of his actions not only undid all those accomplishments, it meant the person he loved so much had become someone who would be undone as well. Just like his lostbelt, that version of Anastasia no longer exists, and if he ever wants to move on, he'll have to accept that she's gone just as much as he has to accept his own failures as a person that were embodied by his lostbelt.

The person he did all those horrible things for no longer exists because of the horrible things he did, and he has to move on from her as much as he does from himself if he wants to find lasting happiness. It's cliché but it's still beautifully tragic.

Honestly with how the oath is written, wouldn't it also apply to those who they suspect or were implied to matching the conditions? With Elwing's age during the second kinslaying it's not like she was the one carrying the Silmaril out of Doriath.

(I’m assuming that this ask is a response to this post? Which pointed out that the text of the Oath of Feanor doesn’t call for the retrieval of the Silmarils but attacking any who come into contact with it, with Feanor and his sons vowing to pursue with vengeance and hatred to the ends of the World Vala, Demon, Elf or Man as yet unborn, or any creature, great or small, good or evil, that time should bring forth unto the end of days, whoso should hold or take or keep a Silmaril from their possession.)

I think it would absolutely apply: the Oath specifies that it’s about any creature, not just nobles with names. And lots of people, mostly unnamed and/or non-noble, die at all the Kinslayings. In the Third Kinslaying, it’s notably Elwing and the people of Sirion who refuse/demur to answer/ask for more time when the Feanorians send their demand, not just Elwing alone, so the people of Sirion are just as much a target.

However, I don’t think the Oath is actually supernaturally compulsive and that it’s less the text and more what the Feanorians think it means that guides their actions? I do think there’s a case to be made that at least some of the Feanorians think the Oath does call for retrieving the Silmarils, what with all the multiple requests Maedhros & living brothers send people asking them to yield the Silmaril(s), but even there, looking at the conversation Maedhros and Maglor have before they steal the Silmarils from Eonwe’s camp, it’s clearly more than just retrieving those Silmarils.

But imo the interesting takeaway isn’t what the Oath demands the Feanorians do, whether or not it is compulsive, but that they swore it in the first place.

“ohh!” you say as the realization dawns on you. simon huffs a laugh while johnny swats the back of your helmet lightly.

“took y’long enough, din’cha?”

you punch johnny’s shoulder in retaliation. “shut up, man.”
