Star Traders: Frontiers latest update levels up the experience even further
Tumblr media
Star Traders: Frontiers tactical RPG game adds in new talents for the game on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. All of this brilliance is a testament to the creativity and expertise of the team at Trese Brothers. That currently has a big discount on Steam. We have a new update for Star Traders: Frontiers. As the captain of a starship, there is a crew that depends on you and a universe full of possibilities to explore in this tactical RPG. You and your crew need to keep evolving to tackle the endless array of tests you might face out in the vast cosmos. That's where this new update for Star Traders: Frontiers comes in - it's an injection of fresh content to keep the game exciting. So, Star Traders: Frontiers update #321 is unique in that it goes along with a 50% discount in the Steam Summer Sale. But it doesn't stop there, it also bring in two powerful level 15 talents for your crew members. Think of talents as special skills or abilities that your crew can use during their adventures. First up in Star Traders: Frontiers, we have a brand new ability for the Soldier class, "Still Standing". It's a lifeline when you're up against the wall. This Star Traders: Frontiers talent turns your soldier into a defensive powerhouse, due to make them nearly impossible to take down. There's a catch though, activating this powerful defense uses up most of your turn. But if you're waiting for your Combat Medic to patch you up, it's a great way to buy some time.

Next is the Pilot's new talent, "Engage Fighters". This ability lets you supercharge your offense and defense against smaller enemy vessels. Doing so at the cost of accuracy and damage against bigger ships. Example: a swarm of annoying enemy shuttles is coming at you. Flip the switch on Engage Fighters, and watch your ship become an efficient, fighter machine. Now, what's unique about this update is that it makes your Star Traders: Frontiers AI opponents smarter. Their captains and officers can now use a wider range of talents, making them more challenging and random. This means that no two battles will feel the same. One moment you might be up against a heavily armoured battleship, the next a nimble squadron of fighters. This Star Traders: Frontiers update also throws a spotlight on user-created content, with some great creations highlighted. Picture a spy-themed storyline complete with a unique ship and upgraded diplomats and spies, courtesy of The Spy Pack 1. Also, how about a chance to customize your captain and officers with new faces from the Playable Contacts Head Pack? And if you're into designing your own ships, you might like @davea No More Mass Reducers, a mod that simplifies ship building by removing the mass consideration. Remember, this is all thanks to the vibrant community for Star Traders: Frontiers. The feedback and creativity continue to make the tactical RPG experience even better. And if you like this flow of free updates, don't forget to show some support for Linux with a review. This update promises a lot of new action and smarter enemies. In Star Traders: Frontiers, the only limit is your imagination. Available on Steam with a 50% discount, dropping the price to $7.49 USD / £6.39 / 7,39€. Along with support for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.

My predictions for Avatar 3
So I hav some plot ideas in my head for what’s gonna happen in avatar 3 based on theories and sneak peaks we got.
So we all know that Quaritch and the RDA are gonna team up with the Ash Clan so things are gonna go down.
And we know that Spider is gonna have a very important role, definitely after the whole bonding with Quaritch then leaving him and is definitely now living with the Sully’s, he’s gonna be caught in some conflict, as in found family conflict.
Like Quaritch would want to have his father and son like relationship with Spider again, and Jake is probably gonna treat Spider like an equal but Spider might not be accepting of that since, well, he was neglected by him, did not really give a fuck about him, like when he got captured he didn’t worry about him, he only worried if he was gonna spill any information (which he would never do), and in the comics he upright told him to turn himself over to the RDA cause he couldn’t keep up while they were being shot at, he didn’t think about whether he was gonna live or not by turning himself in, and before that when Spider was gonna leave his “foster family” when the RDA returned Jake let his family take him when he didn’t want to and when Kiri wanted Spider stay with him. So Spider ain’t gonna see Jake as a possible father figure no more.
Anyway, also from a spoilers image it seems he’ll go threw some body horror kind of thing with the help of Kiri, cause we see him having a kuru, so maybe he might not get an avatar, but maybe he’ll be some hybrid na’vi kind of thing probably towards the end of the movie.
Now for theories on the Ash Clan, we know fire is gonna symbolic for them, and they are not gonna be nice, and we already know there leader Varang, we don’t know Nah other Ash Clan na’vi characters, but I’m thinking there are gonna be some na’vi who will be by Varang’s side. I’m also thinking that maybe, just maybe, cause it’s a bit of a clique, that at least one Ash Clan na’vi will not like what is happening or realize what there doing is wrong so they’ll switch sides and help out the good guys. I’m thinking this na’vi might be around the same age as the kids or an adult who might be a warrior or smt.
And we’re also gonna be introduced to new biomes and na’vi who have adapted to those biomes, not just the Ash na’vi but also desert na’vi who are known as the “wind traders” who will most likely be a nomadic kind of clan that go around and trade. We have already seen a nomadic clans in the avatar franchise, such as the Sarentu and Zeswa in Frontiers of Pandora.
So I’m thinking the desert na’vi will have a darker skin tone, like dark blue/purple, and will have strips that will resemble big cats that live out in a desert, and this will be a uncommon idea but I’m thinking they’ll have eyelashes similar to a camel, so just listen, camels have long eyelashes to protect them from sand, so the desert na’vi might have adapted to have that same ability.
I also like to think they’ll have this clothing were they cover there heads to also protect from sand (since maybe the eyelashes might not be so long and aren’t as resilient in a sand storm) and have lose clothes to be able to move fast and stay cool in the hot environment. The clothes might be beige with an away of color patterns.
And for getting around I’m thinking they have these windsurfing boards/boats since they are called the windtraders they might use wind and possibly sandstorms to there advantage, so they might be like the Sandbenders from Atla and the Fremen from Dune. And like the Zeswa I’m thinking they’ll have this bind with a giant creature that helps carry there stuff as they travel, like something of a Bantha form Star Wars but even bigger, and maybe some predator that lives in the sand (like a sad worm) and the desert na’vi use some tool to attract it (like from Dune).
And we’re getting introduced to a new Na’vi character, Peylak, we have no idea what his roles gonna be but from the only image we have it seems he’s a good guy, and I’m thinking he’ll be a desert na’vi or maybe Ash clan, or Metkayina, we’ll have to wait and see.
And another new biome we’ll be introduced to is Pandoras arctic biome, ice na’vi will come into the picture. We don’t know when they’ll be seen but I hope it’s soon.
My theory for what they’ll look like it is some pale skin maybe, not white like those AI images, but more like a pale like blue, or I’ve seen some art with them with purple skin that is cool and they might have that, or a combination of the both. And they’ll wear more covered clothing to protect them from the cold, but they might not wear much because they might of adapted to resist the cold. The clothes will most definitely be similar to Artic Indigenous people clothing, or be like people from the ice age maybe.
The animals that might appear I igumane would be these woolly mammoth type creatures they’ll use to get around and penguin like creatures that have two sets of flippers.
Lo’ak has been confirmed to be the next narrator at the beginning of the movie and the movie might focus on him, so we get to see him how he is now after Neteyam’s death, and will see his relationship with Tsireya play out more. He might get some kind of character growth of some kind.
Now for the movies plot, I’m thinking it will be like this:
Lo’ak narrates what has happened after the events of The Way of Water, we see scenes of moments that play through of what happened, like maybe the Metkayina joining Jakes resistance, Ao’nung’s tattoo ceremony, Ronal’s baby birth/first breath, Spider adapting to the Metkayina tribe.
Then maybe it will skip to Quaritch and Lyle back at Bridehead or some part of Pandora, if at Bridgehead they might one in some real trouble with Ardmor after not only getting Jake, but also loosing a Seadragon and their whole recom team. If it’s some part of Pandora, it’s probably cause they have no idea what to do and this might be the moment they might discovered the Ash Clan.
Then cut back to the Sully’s maybe there planning on what might happen and how to defend the oceans now.
Then some other stuff happens, and maybe some scene with Spider and Kiri, then some Metkayina from another clan rush to tell Jake that some new threat is here which would be the Ash na’vi and he decides to investigate, Lo’ak and Spider maybe come along and possibly Kiri and Tuk just tags along.
Then the investigation leads to the Ash na’vi taking Kiri, Lo’ak and Tuk maybe as hostages, and Jake and Spider find Quaritch and Lyle and they might have some awkward child custody moment with Spider then they decided a short truce just to get Jake’s kids back.
Then it results in them getting capture then Quaritch and Lyle joining the Ash Clan and Lo’ak gets rescued by Jake and Spider, but Kiri and Tuk are still held as hostages then the movie escalated with a big battle or smt at the end.
Idk, but maybe Jake finding Quaritch in the woods might not happen, instead he might have already joined the Ash Clan.
Anyway that’s all I got for this, this entirely small essay, yea 😅

AVALON - "Hermes Station" Trading Outpost
Tumblr media
"Welcome to Avalon, the new frontier!
Hermes Station is a trading outpost set up by the Interplanetary Trading Conglomerate and the last stop before the vast dune valleys of the Pluton Desert. It's teeming with exhausted spaceship pilots, local settlers and wandering traders, each looking for their next bargain."
This is my second larger structure-based model I‘ve completed in 2023. From the ideas' inception to completed photography, I worked for about four weeks on it.
Tumblr media
It’s set in the fictional world of "Avalon", more of a loose background created by me for this and any future builds rather than a fully planned out universe. My main inspiration was the "Edena" cycle by Jean Giraud "Moebius", other inspirations include: Real world oriental architecture, Star Wars' Tatooine, classic Lego Town, and other bits and pieces that I enjoy.
Play features include: Removable domes on both towers, removable second story on the tall tower, a back wall that can swing open, and a full interior.

Tell me about space, please
Space is, of course, the final frontier. Frontier was a Netflix series starring Jason Momoa as a Canadian fur trader. The final Frontier episode was broadcast in December of 2018, and because it's a Netflix production it's unlikely to see a 4th season because it's not cost-effective for modern streaming services to produce them.
For more information on space, look up.

got tagged by @vitanithepure to share Mago's story arc (thank you!! <3). It took me forever because I couldn't decide on an ending XD. I wanted to go for:
Tumblr media
but ended up leaving it open-ended after all.
-
Mago's character arc is less of an arc and more of a destructive cycle. His world is destroyed or ripped away from him again and again; first his family, then his gang, then his smuggling operation, and finally his protectorate. Each cycle is a death, and each time it gets harder and harder pick up the pieces and put himself back together again, and each time there is less and less of him left. He ceases to be a child, he ceases to be himself, he ceases to be a person, he ceases to be.
The first time is when his mother gets sucked into a chaos cult and tries to sacrifice him and his brother, leaving him to survive in the Underhive alone.
It's destroyed again when he is arrested and interrogated in connection with a larger Inquisition investigation on Scintilla; he breaks and gives up his gang, and after a botched execution, he is discarded and left for dead. With everyone he cared about dead or out for his blood, he is forced to flee the planet and try to rebuild his life on the fringes of the sector.
After 12 years of obsessively trying to fix the past by creating a smuggling operation without the vulnerabilities that allowed his old gang to be so easily dismantled, he is starting to come into his own as a rising star in the Calixis underworld when Theodora press-gangs him and drags him to the frontier of the Imperium. She strips the life and identity he built away from him, only for her to death propel him to the rank of Rogue Trader, effectively stripping him of his personhood as well. His new rank locks him into a high stakes existential poker game where he must constantly gamble away pieces of himself just to stay at the table.
And finally, after years of uphill battles, both external and internal, to secure his protectorate and build something that will allow him to live with himself, he pushes one too many boundaries or pisses off too many powerful people, and the Imperium finally steps in to bring his protectorate to heel. The takeover is brutal and everything he worked for is shattered.
The end of his story is unclear. Some accounts say he went out fighting, other that he took his own life, still others rumor that he was arrested but that the ship conveying him and his spymaster to trial/execution was possessed by some kind of Abominable Intelligence which wiped out everyone on board -- the bodies of the prisoners were never recovered.

Fragrant Frontier: Global Spice Entanglements from the Sino-Vietnamese Uplands. Edited by Sarah Turner, Annuska Derks, and Jean-Fracois Rousseau. Published in 2022 by Nordic Institute of Asian Studies Press. Part of the series NIAS Studies in Asian Topics.
Open access e-book available. (All blurbs, quotes, and reviews in this post are excerpted from: niaspress.dk/book/fragrant-frontier)
Publisher’s “about the book” blurb:
“Since its inception over two millennia ago, the spice trade has connected and transformed the environments, politics, cultures, and cuisines of vastly different societies around the world. The ‘magical’ qualities of spices mean they offer more than a mere food flavoring, often evoking memories of childhood events or specific festivals. Although spices are frequently found in our kitchen cupboards, how they get there has something of a mythical allure. In this ethnographically rich and insightful study, the authors embark on a journey of demystification that starts in the Sino-Vietnamese uplands with three spices – star anise, black cardamom, and cassia (cinnamon) – and ends on dining tables across the globe. This book foregrounds the experiences of ethnic minority farmers cultivating these spices, highlighting nuanced entanglements among livelihoods, environment, ethnic identity, and external pressures, as well as other factors at play. It then investigates the complex commodity chains that move and transform these spices from upland smallholdings and forests in this frontier to global markets, mapping the flows of spices, identifying the numerous actors involved, and teasing out critical power imbalances. Finally, it focuses on value-creation and the commoditization of these spices across a spectrum of people and places. This rich and carefully integrated volume offers new insights into upland frontier livelihoods and the ongoing implications of the contemporary agrarian transition. Moreover, it bridges the gap in our knowledge regarding how these specific spices, cultivated for centuries in the mountainous Sino-Vietnamese uplands, become everyday ingredients in Global North food, cosmetics, and medicines. Links to online resources, including story maps, provide further insights and visual highlights.”
---
NIAS Press also provides “about the author” blurbs:
“Sarah Turner is Professor of Geography at McGill University. She is a development geographer specializing in ethnic minority livelihoods, agrarian change, and everyday resistance in upland northern Vietnam and southwest China. She also works with street vendors and other members of the mobile informal economy [...] in urban Southeast Asia. [...] [S]he is also an editor of the journals Geoforum and Journal of Vietnamese Studies. Annuska Derks is an [...] is a social anthropologist interested in social transformation processes in Southeast Asia, in particular in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Also widely published, her research focuses on migration, labor, gender, as well as the social lives of things [...]. Jean-François Rousseau [...] is a development geographer with research focusing on the relationships between agrarian change, infrastructure development – especially hydropower dams and sand-mining – and ethnic minority livelihood [...].”
---
NIAS Press quotes a couple of book reviews. From Janet Sturgeon of Simon Fraser University:
“This compelling study – one of the best integrated volumes I have read – traces the precarious livelihoods of ethnic minority farmers producing spices under two related processes. The first is global commodity chains, which the chapters follow from node to node along long-standing relations of trust. The second is misguided state-driven interventions to limit farmers’ land and get them to produce monocrops. These combined processes threaten farmers in the borderlands between Vietnam and China, while international traders of these lucrative spices become rich.”

Lady Essiala Ariathia ban Vor'cle
No game this week, so a brief entry about Lady Essiala instead. Who is the lady behind this journal? Linked above or copy-pasted below.
Lady Essiala Ariathia Sorjiik den Morgenstern ban Vor’cle is the Navigator Primaris of the void-ship Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis, a role she has held for just over a standard decade. She is a bookish and reserved woman who prefers the solitude of her library to the hubbub of human interactions, and uses her noble bearing as a mask to conceal her terrors and inner loneliness.
Child of Vor’cle
Essiala is a scion of House Vor’cle, an ancient and vaunted House of the Navis Nobilite that eschews sector and planetary politics in favour of broad-ranging interests and connections throughout the Imperium of Man, including at the very heights of power. Vor’cle Navigators guide ships of nobility, adepta of the mighty Adeptus Terra, Rogue Traders, and even the dreaded Inquisition. The House maintains its own fleet of void-clippers – fast courier voidcraft that crisscross Sectors, Segmenta and even the Imperium itself bearing information too dense, complex or secure to risk astropathic communication, as well as individuals wishing swift and unobtrusive transport across the stars.
She was born on one of these void-clippers, the lean and ancient Morgenstern, and is a child of an esteemed and stable gene-lineage that has been free of genomic instability for over a millenium. Children of the Sorjiik lineage tend to a greater height, leanness of build and paleness of skin than even most void-born, with many also possessing entirely black eyes well-suited to finding even the fainest of lights in the darkness of the void. Essiala shows all these traits and, like many children of her line, prefers her quarters set to lower local gravity and dimmer lumination than ship standard.
House Vor’cle is less hidebound than many great magisterial Houses of the Navis Nobilite who might rely on their breeding and connections to secure contracts of navigation. The Vor’cle instead educate their scions and inculcate a deep curiosity about the universe into them. They in turn record everything that they encounter on their long-ranging travels across and beyond the Imperium and send their reports back to the House archives, where they may be used to further the obectives of the House and its allies. This cavalier disregard for the virtue of ignorance has led to multiple long term feuds between the House and factions of the Ecclesiarchy.
Dark Apprenticeship
Decades of scholarship and apprenticeship taught Essiala well the lessons of her House. She served as a Navigatrix Tertius and learned the practicalities of navigation aboard multiple ships with distinction and no issue save for a short-lived daliance with a bright-eyed void-mistress that ended when Essiala ascended to the rank of Navigatrix Secundus and was assigned to the void-ship Revenance.
Her years aboard the Revenance took her into the Halo Stars beyond the frontiers of the Imperium. She saw strange aetheric phenomena and curious alien ruins, decimated remnants of fallen civilisations far older than that of Man, and steered the ship through terrible warp storms to find safe refuge in the light of the Astronomicon once more. An incident occured on one voyage where she had the honour of steering the ship while the Navigator Primaris was recovering from injuries following a skirmish with Orkish pirates. The ship’s Gellar field, likely suffering some minor damage in the prior engagement, fluctuated during a turbulent ana-surge within the Immaterium and something attempted to coalesce through the cracks into the Navis spire.
A shapeless darkness with a voice of ash and burning violet eyes appeared on before Essiala and begged for her to open disable the safeties on the Aciens Horrens, the heavily warded portal through which the Navigator views the Immaterium, and allow it inside. It offered power, knowledge, all the sweet temptations fit to lure her into obeying its pleas. She refused and, in a moment of righteous anger, tried to turn the power of her Third Eye on the blasphemous thing. The entity simply laughed in amusement and departed, leaving her with words.
“Such fire you have. And such fires you will see Beyond. Three and three and all will burn as bright as you. May they consume you by delightful degrees.”
Essiala found herself marked and shaken by this dreadful encounter. All food tastes of ash in her mouth and her dreams echo with the three-eyed entities mocking laughter. In response she threw herself into studying all she could find about such blasphemous foes, so that she might face and destroy the entity if she encountered it once more. And to this day she takes great care to maintain a personal shrine to the Emperor in her quarters, praying to Him on Earth and all His Saints each morning after a night of fitful, restless sleep.
Navigator of the Gloriosa Lux
The incident on the Revenance earned Essiala her elevation to the rank of full Navigatrix, after sufficient psychoexamination and deep testing to ensure that the entity had left no taint upon her soul. She was assigned to fulfil House Vor’cle’s contract of navigation with the Void-ghast Dynasty, an ancient rogue trader family now fallen from the heights of their past glories, and she assumed the duties of Navigator Primaris aboard the Void-ghast’s only true void-ship, the Sword-class frigate Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis.
Lady Essiala worked well with the Gloriosa Lux and her Lord-Captain Eleazar Void-ghast, steering the vessel on nearly a dozen expeditions into into the wild space of the Koronus Expanse and bringing her home safely each time. Each voyage brought new wonders and new terrors, and always the subtlest hints of some meaning behind the words and the sinister laughter haunting her nightmares.
Lord Eleazar’s sudden and unexpected death upended everything. Gloriosa Lux was forced to return to anchorage, spending nearly a year in limbo waiting for the heir to the Dynasty, the Writ of Trade, and the Lord-Captaincy to be found. Essiala spent the time reading, writing notes for future memoirs, and attempting to make sense of her dreams. She could feel a pattern forming, though it was still too diffuse and subtle to fully grasp.
Finally, after interminable politics and delays of transit, Lazarus Void-ghast was declared Lord of the Dynasty and the Gloriosa Lux Misericordiae Imperialis has set sail once more into the Koronus Expanse…

“Forward to world wide October!
On a coffin, on a black background,
For super-profit in pursuit,
Unable to climb up
Here he is with criminal cases
The bourgeois world is before us
In all your madness!
The traders are full of anxiety.
The commercial gods tremble.
Crash after crash. The need is growing.
An evil crisis is shaking the ground.
Throws people into the streets
Unrelenting hostility.
Tails tucked, necks bent,
Socialists curl like snakes
At the feet of the fascist savages.
Death is here and there, on all frontiers,
Instead of pupils in her eye sockets
Batteries flash.
The old world is dying. It's on the slope.
Behind it - look! - on a scarlet background,
Mixing all the moves of enemy cards,
It goes in a multicolor column
The working army of the world
Unbreakable avant-garde.
Behind him are millions and millions,
boundless columns
World Army of Labor
They go in readiness for marching:
They serve as a guiding star
Five pointed star.
They come with a victorious storm
To fascist aphrodisiac petty-bourgeois,
To her gods and altar.
Their path is in battles, thunder and storm,
THE WAY - TO THE PROLETARIAN DICTATORSHIP,
THE WAY TO WORLD OCTOBER!”

tell me something about or share a snippet from: space race and water grave
Wow, the two aus on the unknown frontiers! These are two i developed with my sister @whats-wrong-aniki
Space race:
“The presigously made zoldyck space ship hovered in the hub of a popular star system.
“Ok killu. Its time to prove your mettle. You’ll go for the vising diamond, I’ll get the oprin. Both are located in the nearby system. Meet back here in two days.” Illumi instructed, making sure his space helmet is placed properly.
“Mhm, no problem…” Killua hummed, non commitedly as he made sure his void cube wasn’t malfunctioning while poised in his utility belt. There was no need for all his stuff to fly through the void of space if it released. He would get the cube and then vamoose with the closest space craft, even if he had to steal it. This would be the last Illumi sees him.
“Excellent. Stay on your toes. Sycronize your watch, and… see you in two days.” Illumi said, popping open the air lock and heading into his travel pod, going in the direction of his item. Killua lowered himself into the travel pod, the smooth seat gliding against his customized jumpsuit. It catered to his skin to keep him in homeostasis in most environments, and also held most of his devices for attacking or defending, wired into the programming.
He’ll have to get rid of it if he wants to keep off of Illumi’s radar.”
--------
Like a giant scavenger hunt, lots of people sign up a small fee (not that small but can be raised if you save up) to join the extensive and good reputation race. For every item you collect by the end, you get a set reward, which scales on how rare it is, so plenty of people join with the idea to gather as many low rarity items to get a good chunk of money if they are good hunters. Lots of planets in the universe hosts the race because of the good publicity and reputation (plus, knowing the great foot traffic that will come, it helps their tourist and scamming industry) but many citizens on the host planets resent how many rowdy or foreign aliens visiting their planets.
(I’ll leave some suspense for the posting of this story one day, but as for Killua and Gon: every year the zoldycks have joined the space race, they prided themselves being the few elite hunters that’s collected /every/ item on the scavenger list. Killua just wants enough money to run away from his sister, he just needs to get away from his pilot partner, illumi, and hitch a ride. Gon knows his father, ging, was human, but he doesnt know what his other half is. Ging just returned Gon to mito from space one day, but Gon really wants to go and see all of the majesty of space that his father left to explore.)
Water grave:
This is a fun one for me but less developed than the one above!
--------
“The first thing to greet them was the old man’s grating laughter. Gon was pleasantly surprised to see he wasn’t the last one to arrive.
The End of the World. A secret cove on the far side of the oceans, difficult to reach unless you were prepared and well informed for it. As you approach, it looked like dangerous rocky cliffside to avoid. But once you turned the ship into the cove’s natural whirling tide, the opposite aspect of the cliff was like it’s own secret harbor for pirates, mercenaries, those who search for sanctuary, and information traders. A villian’s cesspool. But everyone knew to respect the pirates. They were the royalty there. It was founded by them after all. Well, founded by the Pirate King anyways.
Netero, the pirate king, older than most anyone left wandering the earth, but still able to kick everyone’s butt, sat atop a pile of bronze and rocks shaped vaguely like a stone. He had called all of the ocean region’s pirate lords who resided over each of the 6 oceans and their seas to meet in the small meeting hall at the top of the cove’s terrain. It wasn’t always the best scene when all of the Pirate lords were gathered together- many had bad blood between the others, while others had undying loyalties that would lead to short fuses. Either way, tensions would be high no matter what. Maybe that was why the old coot was laughing now.”
-----
Netero opens up calls for the next pirate king, and the current pirate lords of the seas (Kite, Hisoka, Kurapika, Killua, Gon, and newly Merium) works off Netero’s pirate treasure hints to find Dark continent prizes. Who ever gathers all the hints to find the ultimate treasure becomes the next pirate king.
Thanks so much for asking! Its hard to say which ones are my favorite, but I like these ones alot!

woo! I'm going to do some minor fixes for my rulebooks and then get to some writing for the upcoming Rogue Trader campaign. And by "writing" I mean fiddling around with roll tables for a few hours to make some star systems and planets to populate the new frontier that the players will be exploring

I have a craving for a game that does what the X games do, but... actually good. I haven't seen anything that does what it unsuccessfully tries to do.
Starpoint Gemini is kind of close. And in completely different ways, so is Star Trader: Frontiers. But neither scratch the itch for the kind of game I want to play.
I almost considered trying X4. I've been hesitant, though, because I bought X3 Reunion back in the day due to the hype--and it was just a really bad game. It's pretty much the archetype for, "people ask for a game that doesn't hold their hand, but instead get a game that's player-unfriendly and completely inaccessible."
I read a thread on Steam that indicated X4 is more of the same, just prettier. I feel like Space Engineers and Empyrion do the "not holding your hand" thing without being inaccessible. There's a lot of freedom in these games, but there's enough of a tutorial to really help you understand how to play. And, you know, the interface doesn't get in the way of actually playing them, unlike X.
I'd like to play something where you can build a big trade empire in space, with a dynamic economy. The Starbase building aspect of X4 looks especially interesting in that context. (I liked Startopia, for reference.) The concept of building my own production chains and seeing the local star clusters actually change and grow based on that, is compelling. In the same way I enjoy Railroad Tycoon and similar games.
But I expect basic quality of life stuff, like the game presenting notes on how much I purchased goods for on any given ship. I shouldn't need a spreadsheet for that: it just breaks immersion if you tell me my captain is too stupid to hire a decent quartermaster to track that info for him. If you need spreadsheets to succeed in the game, it's inherently poorly designed.
Star Traders feels like too low of stakes. The economy is slightly dynamic, but it honestly doesn't feel like I'm changing the universe in a tangible sense. You don't see fleet movements, it's random encounters, so the idea of a faction getting stronger or weaker is highly abstracted. I don't see a compelling reason to support one faction or another.
And the different paths don't really feel different: if you're a spy, you're playing the same mini-game as someone focused on patrolling or blockading systems; and it's the same mechanic as planetary exploration. I don't get the sense that two captains can really have a different career, and a different impact on their world. The game didn't really play differently either way.
Starpoint Gemini is close; I love that the flight and combat controls are simple. I wish it had flight stick compatibility, but Xbox controller is immersive enough. But I don't feel like the economy or combat are especially deep. If you do a sandbox run, you only have two points to trade with until you get a lot of levels and a much bigger fleet to take more territory. It doesn't feel like a viable trade game.
Combat seems too frequent and too focused on ability spamming. Boarding is a neat mechanic, at least. But it feels like you're pushed to lean towards combat to progress in the game, rather than it being an occasional obstacle. It's the same issue as Star Trader where you're led to think you can take different paths, but it really wants you to take one in particular.
I haven't seen any game like this which has relatively simple and intuitive gameplay, with depth of strategy. (And I'm definitely not even looking at the MMO games that try to do something similar. That's a non-starter for me.) Everything I've looked at seems to focus more on being a fighter pilot (meh), or doesn't have enough RPG elements. Most really don't offer much of a trade or diplomacy path.
I feel like the genre could use some blending to come up with something better.

Dreaming of a Galactic Life: Imagining Space Living in Star Citizen or Starfield
Hey, fellow space enthusiasts!
Today, let's embark on a journey beyond the stars, where the possibilities are as vast as the universe itself. Let's dive headfirst into the realms of Star Citizen and Starfield, envisioning what life could be like if our existence mirrored these epic space odysseys. So grab your spacesuit and buckle up, because we're about to explore the final frontier in style!
First off, let's talk about the sheer thrill of space exploration.
Picture this: you're aboard a sleek, state-of-the-art spacecraft, cruising through the cosmos with nothing but the endless expanse of stars surrounding you. In a world inspired by Star Citizen or Starfield, every corner of the galaxy would be ripe for discovery. Whether you're charting new planets, engaging in exhilarating dogfights, or uncovering the mysteries of the universe, every day would be an adventure of epic proportions.
Tumblr media
But what about the nitty-gritty details of daily life in space?
Well, let's break it down. In these virtual galaxies, technology reigns supreme. From advanced AI companions to cutting-edge propulsion systems, the tools at your disposal would make even Elon Musk jealous. Need to refuel your ship? No problem, just dock at a nearby space station and top up your fuel reserves. Hungry for some interstellar cuisine? Hop over to the nearest spaceport and indulge in delicacies from across the galaxy.
In a world where the impossible is possible, convenience would be the name of the game.
Of course, no discussion of space living would be complete without addressing the social aspect. In Star Citizen and Starfield, you're never alone in the void. Whether you're forming alliances with fellow spacefarers or engaging in fierce rivalries with rival factions, the galaxy is alive with activity.
Tumblr media
Picture bustling space stations teeming with traders, mercenaries, and explorers from every corner of the cosmos. It's a melting pot of cultures, ideologies, and personalities, where alliances are forged and betrayals are a constant threat.
But perhaps the most tantalizing aspect of living in a world inspired by Star Citizen or Starfield is the sense of freedom it offers. In these virtual galaxies, the sky's not the limit it's just the beginning.
Want to become a legendary space pirate, plundering riches from unsuspecting traders? Go for it. Dream of founding your own intergalactic corporation, dominating the galactic market with your business acumen?
The galaxy is yours to conquer. The only limit is your imagination.
While we may be light-years away from realizing the fantastical worlds of Star Citizen and Starfield, there's no harm in dreaming. After all, it's the dreamers who push the boundaries of what's possible and inspire us to reach for the stars.
So let's keep our eyes on the cosmos and never stop believing in the infinite possibilities that await us among the stars. Until then, may your warp drives be fast, your blasters be accurate, and your adventures be out of this world!

Go Loud with Cyber Knights: Flashpoint - Make Some Noise!
Tumblr media
Go Loud game challenge is live for Cyber Knights: Flashpoint on Linux, Steam Deck, and Windows PC. Thanks to the brilliant team at Trese Brothers for their work in bringing us a new challenge. Available on Steam Early Access with 89% Very Positive reviews. Are you ready for a challenge from the CKF Community? Last time they offered the "Silent Swords" challenge, slicing our way through missions like ninjas. This time, the developers are flipping the script with the "Go Loud" challenge. It's all about making some noise! Here’s what you gotta do:
Go Loud by Turn 2: This means you have to complete a mission, break out your guns, grenades, or anything else that goes "bang!" No sneaking around this time – make some noise right off the bat.
No Silencers Allowed: That's right, we're not here to be stealthy. Leave those silencers and suppressors at home.
You can still use swords or other gear, but the key is to make some noise with a loud weapon by the second turn at the latest.
Cyber Knights: Flashpoint - Early Access Trailer (but Go Loud)

Now, Trese Brothers wants to see how you tackle this challenge. Get creative and share your games with the community. Here are some ideas:
Squad Screenshots: Show your team in action during the mission. They want to see those epic moments right as you're stirring up chaos.
After Action Reports: Write up what went down on your mission. What challenges did you face when you had to go loud right away? The developers want a good story.
Strategies: Share your tactics for dealing with the chaos of going loud early in a mission. Since fellow knights could use some tips, and represent Linux as well as Steam Deck!
Get Creative: Memes, GIFs, even interpretive dance – whatever floats your boat. Just make sure it’s about the loud and good times in New Boston.
How to Submit:
And remember, the developer needs at least one screenshot of your squad in the middle of their mission. It's all about seeing the action! There is also a discussion on Steam in the General Discussion forum for all of your posts. If you post in their Discord, head to #go_loud_challenge to join in on the conversation. Cyber Knights: Flashpoint, from the creators of Star Traders: Frontiers, is a cyberpunk thrill ride. You’re a Cyber Knight in 2231, an elite in the criminal underground with a powerful cybernetic implant. Leading a crew of hackers, mercenaries, and rebels, you've got to build your rep, strengthen your squad, and make the right connections. Every decision, every heist could be your last in the treacherous New Boston Zone. So, let's make some noise and share those wild stories! Can't wait to see what you've got. So let the "Go Loud" challenge begin on Linux, Steam Deck, and Windows PC. The game is available on Steam Early Access. Priced at $23.99 USD / £19.99 / 23,19€ with the 20% discount.
