Steve couldnt remember anything from when he was a child and when he tried to his head would hurt so badly and the his nose would start to bleed he would just completely stop trying.
So Steve was abandoned when he was a kid and was found outside in the middle of winter with out a jacket at his mom Claudia bakery. She had took him in and raised him as her own and they all were a happy family him Claudia and dustin but on his 18th birthday he would start to feel a change within him something was wrong. He would hear voices at night and see things in the corner of his eyes. One night he was sleep walking to outside to wake up to a man around his age grinning at him. He was scared but the man told him he was still dreaming and that he would see him again. That morning he would wake up in his bed and was freaked out. He would go to school that day and was irritable he couldn’t stay in one place but what made it worse was when Tommy was just making these crude jokes about Nancy and he couldn’t take it he would just wish he would just shut up and the next thing he knew Tommy just dropped on the floor not moving he knew he had caused it he had no idea how but he ran when people started freaking out at the lunch room. And as he ran he bumped into the man and he told him “I told you I’d see you again, Stevie.”
Side note Steve’s mom come from a long line of witches and Eddie is his handler and he was sent to live in New Orleans with family he doesn’t know. And the live in this huge manor and when he’s there things are weird.
(I don’t love this idea but I thought I might as well post it)

For the past few months Steve has been going on and on about a girl he’s seeing, well that’s what he told his parents. Steve didn’t really know how to tell his parents that he liked men and women while also having a metal head boyfriend as well. It seemed like a lot for him to tell them in one day but eventually he had to.
“Steve you’re making me nervous.” Eddie said while watching his boyfriend walk back and forth in his trailer. He understood for some people that their families weren’t supportive of how they live their lives and who they live it with. Eddie never had to deal with that because his uncle supported him no matter what and treated him the same way. Steve on the other hand was new to being in a steady relationship and dating a guy for the first time, Eddie had to let him deal with it all the best way could find.
“I’m sorry,” Steve stopped in front of Eddie who was sitting on the couch. He had all these images in his head about what could happen when he finally tells them. What will they think? What would his dad think? He quit basketball a few years earlier and that really pissed him off for awhile, Steve could only imagine the insults about how he wasn’t participating in sports because he became a “sissy” or he was influenced by kids at school. “I just want them to support me, support us.”
“Hey. Come here.” Eddie pulled Steve onto his lap. He wrapped his arms around Steve’s waist giving him a tight squeeze in the process. Eddie caressed the side of Steve’s cheek, a light pink appearing on them. He something in Steve that he’s never seen before and it made his chest tighten. Fear was all over Steve’s face with tears forming in his eyes.
“Eddie, what if they hate me or tell me that I’m a mistake? I don’t think I can handle-“ Steve started to ramble and the tears just came running down his face. He started breathing heavily as his thoughts completely consumed him. Eddie pulled him closer and let him lay his head on his chest. He gently brushed Steve’s hair with his fingers trying to calm him down.
“Everything is going to be ok. They’re still going to love you Steve, look at me.” Eddie lifted Steve’s head so their eyes met. His big brown eyes were filled with tears and he struggled to keep eye contact.
“And if they don’t that’s on them. I love you and nothing or no one is going to change that.” Eddie spoke softly. Steve started to calm down a little after being reassured by Eddie’s words. Maybe he was overthinking everything and his parents would love him still. Steve admired Eddie’s delicate nature when he comforted him. He tucked a strand of loose hair behind Eddie’s ear and took in all of the beauty of his boyfriend.
“What did I do to deserve you.” Steve said softly while tracing over Eddie’s tattoos that were on his arm. Eddie took Steve’s hand and placed it near his mouth to give it small kisses.
“Being your authentic self made me fall for you and I’m not sure I’ll ever stop.” Eddie leaned in and captured Steve’s lips. They kissed each other slowly, letting their movements stay at a gentle pace. It felt like the first time when they kissed during a firework show during the Fourth of July. A spark began between them that day and they’ve been together ever since, truly young love.
“I love you, Eddie.”
“I love you too.”
-
Today was the day that Steve was going to tell his parents about his relationship with Eddie. He prepared himself for the worst that could happen and Eddie scolded him about doing so. They got dressed for the evening to have dinner with Steve’s parents. Eddie thought it would be a good idea to be present when Steve explained to his parents about their relationship.
Steve thought it would’ve been better if it happens gradually but Eddie said there wouldn’t be a better time then to do this now. It felt like ages when when Steve finally pulled up to his parents house and he saw the house lights on. Eddie held his hand, squeezing it tightly to reassure him again that everything will be alright.
Both of them walked towards the front door hesitating on who should knock first. Steve was the one to knock since he was going to be the one doing most of the talking. The door opened and Steve’s dad was the first person Steve had to deal with first. His dad had a confused look on his face before quickly giving a small smile to both boys.
“Long time no see son.” Steve’s dad joked but it was obvious that he was trying to understand the situation at hand. He wanted to say more to Steve, instead he silently let both of them inside the house. Steve noticed the way his dad was looking at Eddie and his stomach was already turning with fear. His mom swiftly entered the living room making the vibe kind of brighter. She hugged Steve so tight that he didn’t think that she would ever let him go.
“My baby boy, I’ve missed you so much. Oh… excuse my manners, hello.” Steve’s mom reached her hand out to shake Eddie’s hand. Eddie shook her hand and showed a charming smile.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Eddie.” Eddie introduced himself. He didn’t show any signs of nervousness around Steve’s parents and that made Steve feel better about tonight. She kept her smile but now she was the one with a confused look on her face.
“Steve you didn’t tell us you were bringing a friend.” Steve’s mom said in a sweet tone even though those words weren’t meant to be. His dad chimed in almost immediately after looking somewhat angry.
“We said this was going to be a family night. You’re mother prepared a meal that would only be able to feed me, her, you and your girlfriend that you said you were bringing.” Steve’s dad made sure to glare at Eddie as he spoke. Steve knew it was time to step in because he refused to let his dad try to make Eddie feel bad in any type of way.
“There was a change of plans because,” Steve paused to look at his parents and Eddie. His heart was beating so fast as he prepared what he was going to say. “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Steve’s parents were shocked to hear him say that. Steve hated that he lied to them for so long but he was trying to find the appropriate time to tell them. Eddie looked at Steve and gently rubbed his back, ignoring the looks that his parents were giving him.
“For awhile I was dating someone and it was never “the perfect girl” that you guys imagined, instead I met the perfect boy,” Steve held Eddie’s hand while trying to ease his nerves.
“Mom, dad, I have a boyfriend and he’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.” Steve finally got the words out of his mouth. He felt his body get lighter after being able to express his feelings after several months of hiding them. Eddie was proud of Steve for doing something so major even though it scared him to death and he didn’t know what the outcome was going to be.
Steve’s parents are silent for awhile as they looked at their son and his boyfriend that they were just finding out about. Steve’s mom walked over to Eddie and pulled him into an embrace. She started to tear up as she held him in her arms.
“Thank you for making baby happy.” She whispered so only Eddie could hear. Eddie wasn’t an emotional guy but right now he wasn’t too far from tearing up either. She pulled away and wiped the tears from her eyes.
“You’re not mad?” Steve asked her just like he was a child. She laughed at his cuteness and shook her head. He hugged his mom tightly when she got closer. She kissed the top of his forehead once they separated. Steve was feeling good until he realized that his dad hadn’t said anything for the past few minutes. Steve’s dad walked towards him and lolled at him. Steve wasn’t in the mood to argue but if he had to he wasn’t going to back down.
“Steve,” he began to speak with a serious tone. Steve waited for the insults to come out and disrupt the peace. He clenched his fist as his dad stood in front of him.
“If that’s all can we please eat the food now I’m starving.” Steve’s dad joked and gave him a pat on the back. Eddie and Steve looked at each other being completely speechless. His dad sat at the kitchen table and started to eat. “Hey guys! The food is still warm, let’s have a nice family dinner shall we.”
“Told you.” Eddie pulled Steve in for a kiss and they went into the kitchen a joined his parents for dinner.

"Fuck FUCk FUCK!" Steve is rambling on as he walks in through the door of the video store. His shift just now starting. Robin and I stare at him from behind the desk. "Steve?" Robin is the first one to say something.
The three of us had only been friends for a while now. I have been working here the longest and when the two of them came in searching for a job. I was the one who trained them.
"Oh, Jesus fucking christ… I'm late and I…" His words started to fade as he walked into the back to stamp his time card. I stared at the door a little longer than I should have. "Y/n you really should just tell." Robin giggle from behind me, and I rolled my eyes.
"No Rob, you know I can't do that. Anyways I'm not Steve's type at all. You see the girls he tries to get when they come walking in. He's simply out of my league." I said to her. "Who's out of your league?" Steve asks as he walked out of the back room. I stared with my mouth open. "Nobody we weren't talking about anything," I mumble out before looking down at the magazine I had in my hands.
Arched brows are written on both of their faces. "She's just talking about that guy she really likes." Robin, I sigh heavily before kicking her ankle. "Who?" Steve asks timidly, I can feel his eyes on me. "Just some guy, but like I said far out of my league," I muttered.
Time passes with customers coming and going, and having to watch Steve flirt shamelessly with every pretty girl who walked in. I groaned as I watched yet another girl walk in. Preppy looking, dress that made me wish that I was that confident. Steve was drooling over her, "I'll take her." Steve whispered walking around the counter. "I'm telling you Y/n just say something. Hell, anything to Steve." Robin really was a good friend who was really trying to help me but it was deeper than just saying my truth to Steve.
Fear of rejection sat on the forefront of my head as I watched him flirt, and her touch his arm. I just wanted that from him, hell from anybody. It's just hard to want to be with someone who doesn't even see me that way. "Rob, I don't think he even likes me like that," I mutter, no longer bearing to look at Steve flirt with the girl anymore.
Rolling her eyes, her hands rest on my shoulders. "Shut up, and stop thinking all the worse things will ya. If you say something and it goes great then it's perfect, but if it doesn't then don't worry about it. Hell Steve admitted to me years ago that he had a crush on me and now look we're best friends." Robin says "That's not the same thing and you know it…"
I hear the similar jingle of the doors bell, then shuffle around us. Robin takes her hands off my shoulders. "What was all that fuck fuck fuck about earlier?" Robin asks, Steve rests his elbows on the front counter his head in his hands. "So get this, my parents are coming into town in a few days." We nod along. We had been friends long enough for me to come to realize that Steve's parents were utter dicks and didn't really care that they even had a son.
"I don't really wanna listen to how I don't have a good job or are even interested in starting a family of my own. I don't know I just need to figure something out." Steve mumbles. "But you're only twenty Steve." I mumble out, "yeah I know, they're such hypocrites. Wanting me to start a family with some random girl that I don't even know just because she's somehow connected to their business. Who even says I want a family at all?" Steve babbles on.
"So what's the problem? Just don't go home, you can stay at my place while they're in town." Robin offers. Steve shakes his head, hair falling out of place. The urge to wipe it away is strong but I don't. "I picked the phone up at the house, and they told me I have to go. They asked me if I had a girlfriend and I might have fibbed, lied a little bit to them." Robin and I look at each other.
"So you just need a date?" Robin asks looking back at Steve. "You make it sound so simple. I have to find someone who wants to fake date me in front of my parents." Steve sounds so dejected at the thought of trying to convince someone to be his fake date. "It can't be someone who doesn't know anything about you Steve," I comment. Brows furrow and then he comes to the realization. More disappointment sits on his handsome face.
"Yeah I mean Y/n's not wrong. It's gotta be someone who you know, and who knows you." Robin adds looking directly at me, "And it can't be me, cause nobody wold ever believe that you're such a rad girl." I look over at Robin, my eyes are begging her to stop. "But I bet you could totally take someone else you know." Robin continues, "Hmm yeah like who Rob?" Steve asks completely unaware that Robin is talking about me. Like I said before I'm not a part of Steve's world. He doesn't notice me.
"Dingus, she's sitting right in front of you. She's perfect too, respectful, really such a beautiful woman, and she knows all about you." Robin is waving her arms all around me as I sink further and further behind the counter.
"Y/n doesn't want to come to help me with my douche parents. It would just end badly I know it." Steve says not even bothering to look at me. The blush on my cheeks is harsh and I feel so hot. "How about we ask her?" Robin says. In unison, they both turn to look at me, but I'm hidden behind my own hands. "Dingus you hurt her feelings." There is silence in the video store.
"Okay I'll do it." I say even though my heart is soaring in my chest. When I look up Steve eyes are on me, reaching out to grab my hands from acorss the counter. "Are you sure? Who know dickish my parents can be. I don't want anything that they say to hurt you… because you know you're my good friend and that…" "Stop talking and let her answer Robin interupts Steve, he hums and stares me. My hands still in his.
My mouth opens and then closes. "Yeah, I'll do it… " He smiles, and squeezes my hands, "anything for you Steve," I mutter to myself.
It's not as if Steve and I have to discuss much more after that. I know this is all fake, so the only thing I have to worry about is making it seem real for… his parents. He calls me as I get ready for a morning shift at the video store. It's only been a day or so since I agreed to be Steve's fake dinner date with his parents.
The phone rings as I try to get my pants up my thighs. I sigh with frustration as I take the phone off the receiver. "Hello?" I say into the phone. The voice on the other side of the phone is frantic, panicking about everything. "How long have we been dating, and what are your favorite flowers? How are you at cooking? What…" His voice goes bare and quiet. "Steve calm down, take a breath for me," I say into the phone. I hear a shaky breath and then I continue on.
"What happened?" I ask him, "My parents called, and they wanted to know about you, but I said… Y/n I said that I didn't want to ruin the surprise. and then I started to worry that I don't even know anything about you. Like what do I call you around other people, and what do I call you when it's just the two of us?" Steve asks more questions. "Steve don't worry about not knowing me. It will come as we sit at dinner with your parents. And for what we call each other how about we just see what happens when I get there yeah." I say calmly into the phone.
There's a sigh on the other side of the phone, "Okay Y/n, I guess I should probably tell you a few more details before you worry about them like me." I chuckle, "That would be good Stevie." I mutter as I finally get my jeans up my thighs and onto my hips. "Thank you Y/n firstly I just wanna say that." I hum, "So parents are coming home tomorrow we'll have dinner after work. Wear that pretty number you've got. I'll drive you back home afterward okay." I nod, but remember that I'm not in front of Steve at the current moment.
Then the thought comes into my head. If Steve were standing in front of me he'd be staring at my bra-covered chest. Half naked as I grabbed the phone handle just a little bit harder. "Y/n you still there?" I heard Steve's voice come through the phone. "yeah I heard you, I gotta get ready for work bye Steve." I said in a ramble of words. Barely able to catch my breath as the thought, and now image of having Steve stand in front of me staring at me with the same eyes he would give the girls that walked in through the video store door.
Work was very slow this morning. Hell nobody came by the video store at nine in the morning, and so it was just me and Robin. "He called me this morning," I say as I restock the shelve with video tapes that had been returned last night. Robin drops her own stack of returns and turns around so quickly. "I'M SORRY WHAT?" I nodded my head.
"Yeah, Steve called was a rambling mess about how he didn't know what to do about what he was going to tell his parents. Talking about what he was going to call me in front of his parents if we had little nicknames for each other. I mean he was a mess, Rob." She stared at me before dropping to her knees to pick up her stack of videotapes. "He called you?" I hummed putting the last of the videos away. "He called and wanted to talk about how everything was going to go. Nothing to worry about ya know."
She continues to stare at me. "God I was so blind," Robin mutters mostly to herself. "What are you talking about? Blind to what?" I asked starting to get more and more intrigued. "I. didn't think… Hell, why didn't I think that he liked you too? He's almost always looking at you. Hell, he never stops talking about you when it's just the two of us hanging out." By the time I had gotten around the countertop, I was blank in my thoughts.
"He talks about me to you?" "WAIT you guys hang out without me?" She shakes her hands in front of my face, and don't worry about whether or not we hang out without you Y/n. Worry about the fact that he talks about you all the fucking time. Sometimes it is downright sick." My hands and my heart shakes at the thought.
"Does he love me?" I ask almost by accident. Robin smirks and looks at me like a lovesick puppy. "I'd say that he does, but maybe you should ask him that tomorrow." My eyes bludge, the dinner date with his parents.
The next day is almost… almost the same. I pack a bag with a different set of clothes. A pretty summer dress due to the warm air as summer approaches, a pair of nice flats not that if I were to wear heels I'd ever be as tall as Steve is. Steve is right there on time. "I'll take you to work this morning Y/n." He says as holds open the passenger side door. Robin still in morning classes. It leads to an awkward ride to Hawkins High and then to the video store.
"So…" Steve says awkwardly after dropping off Robin. "So…" I echo him. "Are you sure that you're okay with doing this? Because if you aren't then I can tell my parents that you aren't feeling good, or something happened today" I smile sweetly as I rest a hand on his thigh 'god he's so muscular I shake the thought. "Of course, I want to help my friend." I try to say reassuring him that eveything will be fine after this point.
The rest of the car ride is silent. Comfortable silence wraps itself around us and then continues as we open shop for the video store. "Did you know that Robin likes Vicky from the band?" Steve says into the comfortable air. "What?" He nods his head and moves from the shelves and cart to in front of the countertop. "I had a talk with her a few days ago about it. Apparently, she doesn't think it not the same thing for a guy to have a crush on a girl, as is it for a girl to have a crush on another girl." My brows furrow together.
"What does that even mean Stevie?" I ask him unaware that my nickname was making him internally blush. He swallows, "I'm not really sure, but I know that Vicky likes girls because she paused fast time at that boob scene." Steve whispers the last part like their customers are around. It's my turn to blush. "So does Vicky like Robin back?" I ask intrigued by where this sudden topic of discussion is going. "I think she does. I really hope she does because if not then we'll have to listen to Robin talk about for another few months." Steve laughs.
Before our shift was over I grabbed my bag from the back room and rush to the bathroom. Throwing off my vest, and shirt, grabbing my summer dress from inside the bag. My jeans are the next to come off and folded them ontop of my shirt and vest. The summer dress fits me perfectly, but as I look at myself in the mirror a part of me worries I'm not enough even for this fake version of Steve and I.
When I slip off my sneakers and slip into my flat I zip up the bag and come out to see that nobody is in the store. "I just went to stamp our time…" Steve says but then magically almost his words fall flat and right out of his mouth. "God you're beautiful! Not that you aren't always beautiful like this, but you're… fuck i'm sorry." Steve mumbles.
I blush hard under his kind stare. I never thought I hear him, Steve call me beautiful. "What were you saying before?" I ask him. Running a hand through his hair, "I just was… I made sure our time cards were stamped. A little early but that's okay." Steve says coming over to turn off the open sign.
Opening the door and letting me out first. I hear the click of the door telling me he's locked up for the night. As I went to grab the passenger door he was there in a flash opening it up for me. "I guess I should probably start to be a bit more gentleman like right sweetheart" Steve teased as I sat down into the seat. As we drove to his house I fidgeted in my seat.
I wondered if I would be enough for his parents. If this would all fall apart the minute we got there. I hoped that maybe for just a few seconds he would see me as something more than just a friend. I just wanted more, and maybe I was just being selfish when I said yes. I'm just done pretending that I'm happy with being alone. I'm not happy being all alone, watching as Steve tries desperately to be with women when I would do anything for him.
Boyfriend and Girlfriend walk into the doors of the stuck-up rich household that even when Steve's parents are there still feels empty and cold. "Father, Mother!" Steve calls out as he shuts the door and softly rests his hand on my back before whispering into my ear.
"Don't you worry about what they say? You just look at me and I'll keep… try to keep things at bay for you Y/n." He whispers it sends shivers down my spine. "Oh, so this is the girl you wouldn't say anything about." His mother says softly. She's different than I thought she would have been. Less rough around the edges, "Mr. and Mrs. Harrington it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Y/n." I say sweetly. My fingers interlaced together. His mother nods her head and off she goes back into the kitchen.
His father stays looking at the both of us. He's so rough around the edges I can already tell. "Steve, why don't we go talk, your girlfriend can go help your mother prepare the table," Steve's father says without another word he's walking towards a door that's never open when we come over. "I'll be right back sweetheart," Steve says and kisses my forehead before walking away. I follow the sounds of plates clattering together.
"Mrs. Harrington? Do you need any help?" My voice is timid and shaky at first. "Oh dear that would be wonderful." She says handing me the plates and everything that she had already gathered, she doesn't have to point towards the dining room table that is almost always cleared.
There's a white cloth that lays over it, and as I set down the plates I hear the faint sounds of shouting. I try to just ignore them so I return my attention back to setting the table. Plates in front of the glasses are already placed down.
"Yes, I understand Father." I hear Steve's voice ring out. "So where did you and my boy meet?" Mr. Harrington asks me. I stop making the table and turn to face him smiling sweetly at him. "We met at work actually," I say looking over at him, but the smile on my face fades as I see how red Steve's face is and how his fists are balled up so much that his knuckles are white.
"And what is it that makes you so interested in my son?" Mr. Harrington asks. My face contorts. "I'm not sure what you mean, sir?" I say trying to understand desperately where the conversation is going. "Dinner is finished, Paul will you come in here and help me." I hear Steve's mother shout out. My heart is racing out of my chest and I stand there until his father leaves the dining room. "Are you okay?" Steve rushes over to me. I shake my head still utterly confused. "What happened upstairs I could hear shouting?" I ask my own question. I can feel the air change. "My father had decided that you are just after my money. That we are faking it." Steve whispers the last part.
"What…" I say but then my mouth shuts as Steve's parents walk right back in. His mother holding a platter of ham, and his father holding onto side dishes. "Sit dearie." His mother prompts me. I take my sit and Steve sits down next to me. My hands are sweaty as I try to not think about how Steve's father could possibly know that we were just faking it.
"We pray in this household or has Steve not been doing that while we've been gone." Steve's father says sounding disgusting. The dining table is set and food is out. Steve sits across from his father, and I across from his mother. His mother reaches out her hands and we pray before eating. For the rest of the dinner, we eat in uncomfortable air.
"Like I asked earlier miss Y/n, why are you interested in my son?" His voice is thick and harasser than before. Maybe due to the few glasses of bourbon, he had sipped on. I chew on my food before setting my fork down and swallowing before answering him.
"Mr. Harrington I… love your son. More than I think he knows, more than he will ever understand. I don't care much for material things sir. I enjoy the moments that I share with your son. I care for the way he looks longing at me during times of our work. I enjoy the way he takes care of the kids he babysat for years. I love the way he makes me feel whenever he looks at me." I rest my hand on his thigh, not daring to look at him. I breathe in heavily. "Mr. Harrington. You might not like me, and you might think that all I care about is money, but that's simply not true. Because I love him for who he is, not what he is." I say moving my hand from his thigh.
There's silence all around us. Mrs. Harrington is smiling over at me, she must not be as bad as Mr. Harrington. "I don't believe you Miss Y/n, everyone has reasons for doing things. When money is involved it's never because they simply love one another." Mr. Harrington spits out. I nod, "Again Mr. Harrington you don't have to believe me. I don't care what you think of my relationship with Steve. You are not a part of it. Your son and I are happy together, though he most definitely deserves someone better than me I love him all the same." I feel Steve's hand on my thigh he's looking at me. I can tell from the peripheral of my vision that he's staring at me like he does when those pretty women come walking in.
"Steve your girlfriend needs to leave right this instance. I will not be disrespected in my own home." Mr. Harrington shouts slamming his glass down on the table. Steve stands up almost immediately like he knew his father was going to have an outburst. "Why Father?" "Paul just take a breathe love." "No Mother, Father is just pissed that someone loves me and it's not for my money that I don't want to be you. You hate that I'm not like you. I will not be trapped by you and your goddamn life. If I love this girl then that's just fine if I want to kiss this girl and bring her home flowers and tell her that she is so much more than I deserve then I will. And actually, this house the one that you haven't been in for months going on months belongs to me. You remember that, remember giving it to me. So it's the two of you that need to leave." Steve is seething, his hand wrapped around mine as he stands next to me at the dining room table.
"Steve, please." Steve's mother tries "NO! I'm tired of this bullshit. You guys are never here. You haven't been here for years, and when you are you shit on everything that I am. Well fuck both of you, so you leave." Steve shouts. His father scoots out of his chair and leaves while his wife follows closly on her heels. With the sound ofthe car rolling out of the drive way, and Steve breathing finally coming to a slow.
Everything hits Steve like a train. "I can't believe I just did that. Fuck." He mutters to himself dropping to his seat all over again. "Steve," I say softly resting my hand on his shoulder. "Oh hey." He says flatly. "Do you want me to leave?" I ask aware that maybe I'm simply not needed here anymore. That would be the sad part, but… "No please don't go... I don't want to be alone right now…" "Can I hug you?" I ask, he nods unwilling to speak anymore.
We sit there at the dining room table. Food is getting cold by the time Steve comes back to reality. "What you said that was good?" Steve comments wiping his face as he pulls away from the hug. "What do you mean Steve?" "You know saying all the stuff you said. It was nice to have someone pretend to care about me for just a little." Steve sounds so dejected. "Oh, Stevie. Look at me. Please" He doesn't. "Stevie, I didn't lie once to your parents. I… I do love you. I have loved you for a long time. I watch you all the damn time. The video store probably has rolls and rolls of security tapes of me just staring at you. Wishing that you saw me not every other girl who walked in. "What? Wait you think that I…" Steve mutters finally looking towards me.
"Steve."
"Y/n, I love you too ya know," Steve says softly grabbing my hands. "I wasn't pretending either. I was… you make my heart race and it's hard to think whenever you're around. Hard to… I guess that's why I would always try to flirt with those girls who came into the video store. I never noticed them though. It was and has always been you Y/n."
The smiles that grow on both of our faces. Makes our cheeks burn. "Can I do something?" Steve whispers as he inches closer and closer to my face. "Depends?" I say cheekily. "Oh shut up, and let me kiss you," Steve mutters rights up against my lips. I nod. He isn't the first kiss of my life, but he's the best kiss I've ever had. The one kiss that I always hoped for, wished that I could get.

No okay but what are we going to do if season 5 starts at the Harrington household and Steve's parents are the nicest people ever? like even better than Claudia Henderson and Joyce Byers?
I'd be packing my bags and retiring, deleting this account, changing name and probably country too.

Hear me! Mamma Harrington singing a lullaby to Baby steve to sleep, and the lullaby is Baby mine. Just imagine this.
Baby steve, 5 or 6 years old, had a big scary nightmare, is raining a lot and he cries yelling for his Mamma, who appears in seconds at the call of his bambino.
“Mio bambino, Cosa sta succedendo? Qualcosa ti ha spaventato?” She quickly takes him in her arms, rubbing the little back of his boy gentle as she shush his sob sweetly.
“Incubo! Un brutto incubo!” He was crying more less for the little hops his mamma was giving him.
“Oh… mio povero bambino…” She whisper and then kiss the forehead of Steve. “Vuoi che la mamma ti culli?” The boy nod after the question his mamma did.
Without a second thought, the woman take the boy to her dorm, and gently lay down in the bed with steve in her arms. She start humming and stroking the kids hair, gently wiping away the tears with kisses. After humming a little more, she start singing softly, with a sweet calming voice, that lull steve and gives him a warm feel of safety.
“Baby mine, don’t you cry….” She kiss another tears in the chubby cheek of her baby. “Baby mine, dry your eyes…” She tickles a little the tummy of Steve, making him giggle a bit, she smiles and start stroking his hair again.
“Rest your head close to my heart…”She leads steve head to her chest, where her heart was beating calmly. “Never to part, baby of mine…” She kiss again his head, humming again a little.
Steve fall asleep, safe and warm on his mamma’s arms.
Little one when you play
Steve was at the park now, playing in a sandbox, making some castles in peace. But a little rock hit his head, he whine for the pain of that, he look over an see a kid that two years older than him, curly brown dark hair and big doe eyes, he was amazed for the boy beauty, but quickly wake up that for the kid mocking him and run away after throwing another rock, this time to the castle, it fall down for the hit.
pay no heed what they say…
Steve wants to cry, feeling upset and sad for his castle, he straightened up and wipe the tears in his eyes.
Let your eyes sparkle and shine
With more determination on his little eyes, he start building the castle again, he will not cry for that mean boy, even though he is pretty, Steve will not cry, his mamma tell him that he didn’t need to cry for bad people, they don’t deserves his tears.
Never a tear , baby of mine…
Last year of high school, Steve was tired, really tired, after halloween and the freaky shit of upside down again, he was done with everything, he just wants to rest, and his mamma, but she wasn’t here, not after what happen when he was 11. He sigh trying to not cry, he groan when someone bump against his shoulder, the bruises of fighting Hargrove still fresh.
“Oh! Sorry king steve!” A voice said meanly, mocking even.
If they knew all about you, they’d end up loving you too.
Steve look back to see Munson, a sly grin in his face, like he was trying to provoke the minor to explode to him. Steve just sigh, and awkwardly smile to the boy, same as pretty like that day in the park. “Sorry, Munson, my bad.”
All those same people who scold you,
Munson frown his pretty face, curiosity sparkling in his eyes, he huff and just move over. “Whatever, make yourself not a bother, Princess.” He leave, laughing with his friends when he reach them.
Both of them not knowing than in two years they will meet again to save the older, and maybe, to be something else.
What they give’d just for the right to hold you.
Steve was crying, all alone in his big cold empty house, not home, stopped being a home years ago. He was still in that stupid sailor outfit, his face hurts so bad, he feels so damn guilty, he wasn’t in the right to be, Steve wouldn’t be able to save Hopper even if he tries, maybe he would die instead of the man, but no, is late, and now Jane is without a father. Max is without a brother too, yet Billy was an asshole, he didn’t have the right to die like that, impaled for that goo monster.
Steve cries that night, and the next and the next to that, his eyes are puffy and red for all tears. No one to hold him, he miss his mamma. After three days of crying, he fall asleep? dreaming of a time where everything was easier, where his mamma wasn’t afraid for him, where he can be in her arms again, being hold like a baby.
From your head down to your toes,
“You’re not much, goodness knows...” The woman was still singing, Steve sleep long ago, but Cecilia Occhipinti ne Harrington would always end a song for her baby, specially his song. She hum a little more before whisper the last sentences. “But you’re so precious to me…Cute as can be, baby of mine.” The last kiss in the boy forehead, and Cecilia lets herself fall asleep hearing the constant breathing of her bambino.
Poor woman and kid, none of them knows the future that waits for them.

Ok, I've been away for a bit. So here's an idea I have for the murder cult fanfic I'm writing.
"Can I rely on you?" The sweet feeble voice sent a chill down the male's broad back. He wiped his slick hands across his slacks ruining the expensive material. He tried to ease his racing heart. It had been so long since he last heard the woman's voice. He last saw her at his son's birth, now eighteen years ago. Taking a silent deep breath he nodded; his body moving before his mouth.
"Yes ma'am. We will see that he is comfortable and has whatever he needs during his stay." His voice stayed clear and sure as he spoke. Glancing up at his wife, she tilted her head in concern as she read him. He normally looked this distressed when on the phone with his mother but this had an underlying scent of fear to it. She swallowed as she deduced who was on the phone. His mother's best friend, Miss Ines-Gabriela, or as her husband called her Zia. After almost twenty years of marriage, she still didn't know the woman's last name.
"Thank you, deary. I want the best for my mijo. You are as perfect as your mother has said. We are so proud of you pequeno." A blush flooded his cheeks at the old nickname. Business was over.
"Grazzi, Zia." The smile that erupted on his face was heard in his voice. Hanging up the phone after fifteen minutes of questions about his and his family's health. He sighed chuckling at the phone. He would have much work to do on his trip home.
"Dear?" Turning to his wife he couldn't stop the slight burn to the corner of his mouth as he smiled harder. She was clean no longer sporting the soaked poncho or filthy gloves. Looking behind her he noticed the now clean room. Not a sign of their former activities besides the body lying still on the table.
"We have to return quickly." HE winced at the sight of fear that flooded her eyes.
"Is Steve?"
"He's ok, mi cori. Gilly is coming over for some personal business. Zia doesn't want him sleeping in his van." Removing his bloddy gloves he cupped her face laying a kiss atop her head as she kissed his palm. She gasped at the last part turning quickly as she gathered her things.
"Absolutely not. He can not sleep in that old thing. I'll ring Harrien, and tell her to have the guest room ready for his arrival. You'll need to warn Jim and get the cabin prepped for him."
"Yes, mi cori." He smiled following behind her as she ordered his men into their next tasks.

steddie fake dating au that starts because robin’s mom keeps pushing for her and steve to get together and robin gets so fed up that she yells, “it’s not gonna happen because some people are gay, mom!”
and upon seeing the utter horror and fear on her face, steve swoops in and says he’s the one who’s gay. cue mr. and mrs. buckley, local hippies, attempting to show how supportive they are, and all the while steve gets eddie to agree to fake date to get the buckleys to prove they’re safe, so that robin will feel comfortable enough to come out to her parents.

obsessed with the idea that as soon Steve Harrington realizes that he is bi he skips over the internalized homophobia and the denial and goes straight (not! lol) to boyfriend. He tells Robin he has a crush on Eddie while he drives her to school in the morning and by the time they have their shift in the afternoon he is already Wayne's son in law. He gets over the whole crisis stuff in like 5 mins and panics instead over where he will take Eddie on their first date. He realized he really wants to run his hands through Eddie's hair (in a gay way) and half an hour later he already has his tongue down his throat.

When Steve was a kid his dad would force him to go on fishing trips with him.
Backstory so Steve’s father’s boss had a summer home on the beach and his boss was really into fishing with his son. So he would volunteer him and Steve to go fishing with them. Steve hated it. He was terrified of water ever since he almost drowned one summer. When the the boss kid finds out he teases him relentlessly and then being alone at the dock one night he pretends to push him in but ends up accidentally really pushing when Steve’s fighting him away. When Steve wakes up he’s at the hospital with parents arguing with the police. They tell him he’s been missing for a week. He can’t remember anything but starts to have dreams about a boy with brown curls smiling at him. When its summer vacation Steve and Tommy and Carol and some other friends decide to go to Carols dads beach house to party and after the night ends he can’t sleep he’s hearing some kind of song he at first think maybe someone had left the radio on in the living room he goes to check but that’s not it but the singing gets louder and he starts to feel some kind of deja vu and starts to walk outside he feels something is pulling him towards the ocean.
Side note Eddie’s a siren. Also the summer home is located in a fishing town and everyone would hear tales of sirens and men in the village would wake up in the middle of the night and just get up and walk towards the ocean and drown. And this was going on for a long time. Another thing he would wake up to a man staring at him he’s freaked out at first but he thinks this man looks familiar and Steve’s asking him questions and Eddie looks like he’s going to say something but nothing comes out. When Steve’s about to leave to go back to the house he hears “ Steve, don’t leave me again” So I would think maybe Eddie follows Steve around and maybe like Eddie’s hiding from someone i don’t know. I’m not like in love with this idea but I thought I might as well post.

One day the kids wake up and they can’t find Steve. They search his house, the school track, the basketball courts, anywhere they can think of where they might find him and he’s nowhere to be found. When they go to Robin’s house, she’s missing too. Her parents haven’t seen her since she disgraced their family by proclaiming herself to be a lesbian.
Even Eddie hasn’t seen either of them and that’s particularly worrying since the three of them are always together.
Both Steve and Robin come back two weeks later with sunburns and matching tattoos on their wrists. They had been at one of the Harrington vacation homes in Florida getting drunk, checking out girls, and getting tattoos. It’s also when Steve realized he was interested in Eddie and plants a smooch on him as soon as he gets back to see Eddie checking out his ass.

Part One / Part Two (You are Here) / Part Three
A03
Hopper had undersold Harrington's condition.
Wayne hadn't expected anything pretty, but the face that turned to them as they walked through the door almost had him freezing in place.
Black eye, bruised chin, split lip.
More and more bruises, some faded and some very new, trailing down the kids neck.
The rest was hidden by his preppy little polo shirt, but Wayne didn't doubt that there were more.
Harrington tried to stand when they entered the room and the way he moved--entirely unbalanced, clearly in a lot of pain--made Wayne think the only thing the kid really needed was a hospital.
Because Steve Harrington hadn't just been beaten.
He'd been tortured--and very recently strangled.
(Abruptly, Wayne realized that Hopper had implied the boy had been in the mall fire--just as much as he implied the mall fire was anything but.
He also hadn't stated how Harrington had escaped the Suites trying to break into his house.)
"Sit down." Hopper commanded, and Wayne expected Harrington to do anything but listen.
Say something cocky, or act the part of a demanding little shit maybe, despite the condition he was in.
Instead the kid just sighed in relief and dropped like a stone, right back into the chair.
Hopper came around his desk, talking all the while. "Steve, this is Wayne. Wayne, Steve."
"Hello Sir." Steve croaked politely. His voice was wrecked, no doubt from the necklace of finger shaped bruises around his neck.
"You're going to stay with him for a while, and you're gonna pay him for the privilege." Hopper informed him, as he began digging around his desk. "Money, chores, whatever Wayne wants."
Wayne held his gaze as Steve turned to appraise him.
Would Harrington pitch a fit?
Would he look at Wayne's work clothes, streaked with dirt and sweat, with the name of the warehouse embroidered in the corner and crinkle up his nose, just like his daddy did?
Hopper didn't lie, but a part of Wayne wanted to see just how different this Harrington was. If the respectful demeanor was an act done for Hopper.
Or perhaps, Hopper had mentioned Steve's father for a reason, instead of his mother. Did he adopt her ice-like approach to life?
Micro managing and long-held grudges were Stella Harrington’s game, and she excelled at it.
Steve however, did nothing of the sort, instead settling with the situation in a way that reminded Wayne far too strongly of the men and women who'd come home from war.
"Okay." The kid said simply, after a long moment of consideration. He turned back to Hopper. "But we need to tell the rest of the Par--"
Here he cut a look back to Wayne, correcting himself. "the kids. I don't want them showing up at my house trying to find me and freaking out."
"They wouldn't--" Jim paused, fingers freezing from the rummaging they'd been doing. "they absolutely would, goddammit." He muttered darkly.
"I'll tell the kids. The only thing I want you doing right now is laying low. I need to get a hold of Owens, but it's gonna take time to do that, and more time to fix this, so as of right now, Harrington? You're on vacation." He pointed sternly, as if Steve might argue.
The kid looked too tired and messed up to bother trying.
"I mean it. You're out of the country, where is anybody's guess. No one's seen you and no one better be seeing you, got it?" His voice held firm, and Wayne had to blink because the tone here wasn't one of a police chief warning a teenager--but of a father talking to his son.
He knew, because his own voice did that now. Took on a worried tone that masqueraded as something more like annoyance and seriousness.
"Yes, Sir." Harrington said, remaining weirdly compliant. "Consider me gone."
A hand came up to briefly press above one eye, and Wayne wondered if the kid had been looked over, or if they had just crammed him into Hopper's office without offering so much as a tissue box.
How many painkillers did they have back at the house? Wayne usually kept a good bottle around, but Steve was going to need more than that…
He found himself once again cataloging Steve's wounds, this time comparing them to the medicine cabinet he had at home.
"I expect you to be a damn good house guest, you hear me?" Hopper continued, trying to cut a menacing figure. He finally found what he was looking for; pulling out a large, padded envelope.
He handed it over to Harrington, who took it without looking, shoving it into the duffle bag he'd had sitting at his feet.
There was a smudge of red on the handle of said bag, that matched perfectly up to a shittily done wrap on Steve's right hand.
Wayne mentally added 'buy more bandages' to his list.
Steve nodded at Hopper again. "Yes, Sir."
Jim’s eyes narrowed. "Quite that, you know I hate that."
The briefest glimmer of mischief crossed Harrington's face. "Sorry, Sir. Won't happen again, Sir."
'Ahh.' Wayne thought. 'So there's a teenager in there after all.'
Jim rolled his eyes. "Get out of my office."
"Thanks Hop." Harrington said, finally dropping that odd obedience, a hint of a smile on his battered face.
He stood, and Wayne had to stop himself from offering an arm out as Steve reached for his bag and limped towards him.
He paused right before he left Hopper's office, hand on the doorframe.
"You'll check up on Robin too, right?"  He asked, and for the first time his tone took on something more alive--and filled with worry. "And Dustin? Erica?"
"Dustin and his mom are finally taking me up on my suggestion to see their family in Florida for a while, and the Sinclairs are taking a sabbatical from Hawkins. I'm working on the Buckley's." Hopper drummed his fingers on the desk. "So far, no one else besides you and El have been targeted, and we're going to keep it that way."
Steve let out a breath, and while Wayne could tell the worry hadn't left him, he could almost physically see Steve force himself to put it away.
Another act that was far beyond the kid's years.
A different officer popped up as they walked down the hall towards the exit, waving his hand madly. "Harrington! Chief says you forgot this!" He barked.
(Or tried to anyway. Callahan wasn’t the most aggressive of officers and frankly, never would be.)
A slim sports bag was held in his hands, and Steve nearly tripped over his own feet when he tried to turn and claim it.
"I'll get it." Wayne said, knowing his tone sounded gruff.
No use for it. He could either sound gruff or sound sad, and Wayne knew better than to start off the relationship with yet another hurt young man by acting sad.
Pity wasn't gonna win him any favors here.
He took the bag, slinging it over his shoulder, uncaring of the wince on Harrington's face until something sharp poked at his shoulder.
Several somethings, in fact.
"What the hell do you got in this thing?" He asked once they hit the parking lot, voice low as he escorted Steve to his truck.
"Just a baseball bat, sir." Steve said, in the exact same tone Eddie used every time he thought he was bein’ slick.
Considering the thing in the bag could have passed for a baseball bat if not for the sharp pokey bits, it wasn’t a bad attempt. Steve just hadn’t accounted for the fact that Wayne lived with Eddie.
An unfair advantage, really.
‘Least there can’t be any baby racoons in the damn bag.’ Wayne thought idly.
Went on to gently put the bat in the backseat, watching as the kid struggled to lift himself into the truck.
"You can drop that, I take too being called Sir about as well as Hop does." He said, keeping his tone nice and calm, hoping to ease into calling Steve out on his lie.
Fussed with a few dials on the stereo, giving Steve an excuse to take his time before starting the engine and taking the long way home.
Wayne wanted to talk a little-- without the chance of Ed’s interrupting.
"Son,” He started off. “I was born in the morning, but not this morning. I'm hoping to make the next few weeks as easy as I can for both of us, and I can't do that if you're starting off with a lie."
Steve blinked, turning to face him in a matter that was too fast for his injuries. He didn't bother hiding the hurt it caused him, but his voice stayed even as he spoke.
 "What do you mean Si--Wayne."
"Nice catch.”  Wayne said. “We’ll get you there yet.”
It was a trick he'd learned with Eddie--little tidbits of praise went a long way when it came to gaining trust.
Especially with kids who hadn't ever been given much.
Harrington seemed smart to it, or perhaps was just hesitant to speak in general because he remained quiet, not offering up any info. No further lies, but nothing towards the truth, neither.
Which was fine. Wayne didn’t think a little pushing would hurt.
"That bat of yours was digging into my shoulder like a bee swarm." Wayne continued, when it became clear Steve wasn't talking. "I'm more a fan of football than baseball, but last I checked they hadn't changed the design of a bat."
"What teams?" Steve asked, perking up a touch. "Of football. Which ones are yours?"
Wayne could ignore it of course, or demand Steve give him an answer to the question he asked.
He did neither. "I’m liking the Colts since they got moved here. You?"
"Green Bay Packers, though I like the Colts too--that trade in 84’ was crazy." Steve said. After a second he proved that answering instead of pushing was the right move because he added; "What did Hopper tell you? About…" He trailed off, making a gesture Wayne didn't bother trying to interpret.
"He said some things. I've guessed a few others." Wayne admitted. Cut a little look out of the corner of his eye as he came to a stop sign. "I know the feds are real interested in you after Starcourt."
Steve took that in, hands tightening on the handle.
"It really is a baseball bat." He said, a little fast and with the tiniest hint of that challenge Wayne had been looking for. "It just also has nails hammered into one end."
Wayne took that in with one nice, slow blink.
"A bat with nails in it." He said, and it made a hell of a lot of sense compared to the sensation he'd felt carrying the case. "You use it against anyone?"
"Some of the feds." Steve admitted, and even with his eyes on the road Wayne could tell he was being stared at.
Judged.
Not in the way one expected a rich kid to judge, but in the way Eddie had, those first few months he'd lived here. The times when  he'd push, just a little, to see what Wayne's reaction would be.
Eddie hadn't done it in a damn long time, but Wayne recognized the behavior nonetheless.
"Anybody else?" He asked.
"Nobody human." Steve replied.
"Alright." Wayne said, and made a mental note to drop all questions related to that.
He didn't need to know, definitely didn't want to know, and had a feeling if he did know he'd find himself being watched by the same spooks after Steve.
"I've got a few deck boxes that lock on my porch. Think you'd be agreeable to leaving the bat in one?"
Steve paused, hand clenching tighter around the strap of his duffel bag. "If you gave me a key so I could get it in an emergency,  I'd be happy to."
He tried to sound calm, even a little charming in that sort of upper-class businessman sort of way, but the fear bled through.
The kid wasn't happy separating from the bat, and given it sounded like it might have saved his life recently, Wayne understood the hesitation.
With an internal apology to Eddie, he promptly threw his nephew under the proverbial bus.  "I've got my nephew at home and he'd be far too interested in it, is all. Blades and weapons and such tend to attract him, and I don't need to be rushing anyone to the ER."
All of which were very true facts (one Wayne learned the time he'd allowed Eddie to bring a sword  home, only for him to nearly cut his own nose off winging the thing around) but he figured it might make Steve more amenable to separating from it.
Sure enough, some of the tenseness bled out of Steve's shoulders. "Yeah that's fair."
The truck hit a few potholes as they finally turned into the trailer park, and the kid hissed, a quiet sound.
Judging by the uncomfortable wince, and hands clenched into his jeans something painwise was giving him trouble.
"When was the last time you took a pain pill?" Wayne asked, doing his best to weave around the other holes that dotted the gravel roads.
Steve blinked. "Uh…"
"You take any today son?"
Steve his head.
"Didn't have time to grab it." He said, offering a sad look to his pack.
Course he hadn't.
"Let's get you inside then and get you some." Wayne said with a sigh. Thankfully Eddie's van wasn't here--Wayne was fairly certain he had band practice today but knowing him it could be a million other things.
Just meant he had to acclimate Steve as fast as he could, to try and get the poor guy settled before Ed’s came in.
He just hoped life and lady luck would work with him, for once.

Eddie is doing a zoom interview from the comfort of his bed because reward for being eaten by demobats is a chronic pain. He trails off mid-answer when his eyes flicker to something beyond the camera and then he says, “I’m filming right now.”
You can hear Steve off-camera ask, “Filming me?”
“No.”
“Then I don’t care.”
Eddie looks back at the camera and says, “Can you repeat the question? My husband walked into the room stark ass naked and it distracted me.”
“I’m getting dressed!”
