I saw this pretty interesting reddit post and it was asking women who were in long term relationships, whose partners prioritized their careers/money over the relationship to describe their experiences and I immediately thought of our over wine couple lol

I read thru lots of the answers and it was actually pretty consistent in that the women who's partners over-prioritized work because they were motivated to have a secure future for their families ended up just fine in the end. they were able to overcome the tough period of time because the partner eventually prioritized their work less and less as they achieved their goal.

and the women who's partners were clearly over-prioritizing their career solely for themselves and their ego ended up being not so fine/ended in divorce or break ups a lot of the times.

Its probably pretty obvious why things would end up the way they did in the women's stories, but I still found it super interesting!

anyway it had me thinking that ow jk clearly started off with the intention of building a secure future for them because he desperately wanted to be able to give y/n all the things he thought that she deserved, but at some point it started to become less about that and more about how far he could advance and move up in his career, how impressive of a position he could achieve etc. now the problem is that his motivation has changed but he's still dishing out the same excuse that doesn't apply to their situation anymore every time the issue is brought up.

it's like he can't admit to himself that the reason he works as much as he does is because he values money and prestige and the opinions of other rich people at fancy functions and dinners over his wife's feelings. because admitting that would mean having to stare in the face the fact that he hasn't been as good of a partner as he should have been.

and then he paints y/n as the bad guy for supposedly being the road block that is trying to prevent him from "giving them a good life", when a. they already have a pretty fantastic and comfortable life, and b. all she wants is a stable relationship where he's more present than he is currently. she's not even asking him to stop work completely, just work a little less.

I honestly really feel for y/n because she really isn't asking for a whole lot, all she wants is for him to meet her halfway and he's created so much emotional strife between them over that by refusing to see the reality of everything. it must be so frustrating!! I don't even know what i'd do in that situation like.. I really don't think any man or dick is worth being that unhappy and hurt for. you either meet me halfway or goodbye lmaooo

even if he's jeon mf jungkook and the loml!! though i'd argue that I wouldn't really consider someone the loml if they did me the way ow jungkook is doing y/n 😂

now that i’m reading it again, it makes much sense when you tell about the men who’s initial goal was to secure a good life! not justifying anything or anyone, but it must be so easy to get sucked into a world of business when they keep you on the job for at least seven or eight hours a day. so interesting to hear they eventually prioritized their relationship over their jobs when the most likely had to go through some sort of reality check to get to that point

he did indeed start off with the fact that he wanted to build them a secure future, and now it’s obviously escalated into something more, where his status grew more and more important. so it probably makes people wonder which one of the two scenarios you read about applies to them…

Sobbing uncontrollably reading through a dissertation about the college experience of students with ADHD. It is like reading a report about my life that just says over and over "My experiences are real. My hardships are real. I am not lazy, I am not dumb. My struggles were not my fault, and they were not a moral failing. The failure was with the system, not with me."

Here's a line that got me in particular:

"Hotez et al.(2022) compared the health, academic, and non-academic capacities of a nationally representative sample of U.S. first-year college students with ADHD and without ADHD. Students with ADHD self-reported lower academic aspirations and more feelings of depression and overwhelm, ranking themselves lower in their general emotional health. The fact that students with ADHD scored in the highest 10th percentile for many non-academic traits, such as artistic ability, computer skills, creativity, public speaking, social confidence, self-understanding and understanding of others, compassion, and risk-tasking, suggests that this population has strengths that are frequently underappreciated in academia."

(the paper is a thesis called "Understanding the Collegiate Experience for Students With ADHD" by Gia Long, 2022)

Tim is known as a guy everyone had a crush on at some point. He's pretty, smart and just nice to hang around with.

So seeing him absolutely falter and flail around trying to get the attention of the new guy and failing miserably everytime, is absolutely fascinating to the rest of his schoolmates.

Danny Nightingale does not care at all about Tim drake and it's the biggest drama in the history of the school.

There are bets, clubs of people who want to help and who want to get in between, the teachers are invested.

Bakugou being so in love with you but he won’t ever admit it, my beloved.

Can you imagine Bakugou, who’s been in love with you since the moment he met you, catching you one evening trying to bake cupcakes in the kitchen. And he can see how angry and frustrated you are instantly, even without the evidence of many many failed attempts strewn all over the countertop.

Uneven batter, burnt edges, no rise— each time seems to get worse, even though you’re following the recipe to a T. But it’s late, you’re exhausted, and the only pleasure you have now is eating the leftover cake mix off your wooden spoon as you sit on the counter overlooking the mess you know you’ll have to clean up.

“You’ll get sick eating raw cake batter, dumbass.” Bakugou rolls his eyes as he looks at the mess of burnt cupcake failures strewn across the kitchen, “Why don’t you just buy yourself a cake?”

“Because I wanted to make the cupcakes,” You pout pathetically, dumping the spoon into the sink as you prepare to start the tedious cleanup.

“But you can’t bake for shit.” Bakugou scoffs.

“I know,” You heave a sigh, “But it’s Valentines tomorrow, and I thought—”

You trailed off, not knowing how to explain to Bakugou that the cupcakes were supposed to be for him.

But of course Bakugou doesn’t realise that, however perceptive he thinks he is he can’t see the big, fat crush you’ve had on him for just as long. Trying to ignore the ache in his chest at the thought of you gifting these cupcakes to someone else as he shoulders you out of the way with your dirty bowl, sticking it beneath the warm stream of water as he begins to clean it up.

“You don’t need to do that, Bakugou. I made the mess, I can—”

“Shut up, shitty woman,” He rolls his eyes, trying to mask the pained rasp in his throat, “We’re gonna bake the best fuckin’ cupcakes you’ve ever had.”

And he’s right. The cupcakes that now sit cooling on the counter look perfect, all of them the same shape and consistency as you watch Bakugou hover over them with the piping bag as he swirls the orange mixture onto each one with precision.

He doesn’t say a word when you’re finished, only a gruff grunt as he excuses himself from the kitchen. Cheeks flushed pink from the praise you’d given him, the sweetest words from you.

“Have you got a valentine, Bakugou?”

“Nah, it’s a stupid fuckin’ holiday.” He despised the glow of hurt that flashed through your eyes at that, despised that he was the one to make you feel shitty about trying to do something nice.

When the truth is, he loved that you were trying to bake cupcakes for someone, it showed just how sweet, kind and perfect you really were— he just wished you were baking those stupid cupcakes for him.

If only he knew that you’d wanted them to be perfect because they were for him.

And now you weren’t going to gift them to him because he thought it was a stupid holiday, and it was a stupid idea to think he might actually want them.
