May: I just saw Josh crying in the break room for five or six minutes and then his phone alarm went off and he just stopped crying? And went right back to work?
Sue: It’s called time management.

They got the sniper. He's in custody. That's a relief. Yeah, now things can get back to normal. Actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about. This isn't going to be a happy talk, is it?

Tiny Take Aways Very Important Notes from the Episode
We only had David for a minute, but it was a good minute
Sue is the actual best and her love for her dispatcher babies is so strong
Harry is brilliant and not impressed with this creep but sweetie why did you hide instead of keep running?!?!?!
Love the consistency with Bobby and his faith, when they showed him praying with the rosary beads I just thought that was so important for him
Buck finding the wet paint is such a Buck thing, I don’t know why, but it is
Also, Buck ALWAYS looks good in orange
Eddie has clearly never broken up with anyone in his entire life, my love, what even was that!?
We needed more Hen
And finally Jee is still super cute and I choose to focus on that because I’m not emotionally stable enough to think about Chim and Maddie

Welcome back to Sue!
gifset of a scene from season 4 episode 11 First Responders
gif 1: Josh escorts Sue, who is using a cane, onto the dispatch floor on Sue’s first day back after she was injured in a hit and run. Josh, holding Sue’s purse, pats Sue on the shoulder as they take in the rest of the team applauding her return. Everyone shouts, “Welcome back to Sue!”
gif 2: The dispatch team are all applauding Sue’s return. Sue gestures with her hands out to get them to stop. The caption indicates that there is “applause, cheering, whooping” going on.
gif 3: Maddie holds up a walkie talkie and says, “All units stand by. Dispatcher with ID #17, advise your status.”
gif 4: Sue takes the walkie talkie from Maddie while Josh and May look at her happily. Josh has tears in his eyes.
gif 5: Sue pauses, holding back tears, and says, “Dispatcher Blevins...back in service” while looking around at her team.
gif 6: The dispatch team errupts into applause and cheers again. Sue again surveys the team while through the walkie talkie various first responders welcome Sue back. “Dispatcher Blevins welcome back! Buck: Oh, Sue, it's good to hear your voice. Hen: Welcome back, Sue. Eddie: You rock, Blevins. Welcome back.”
gif 7: The well wishes continue, “It wasn't the same without you. Woman: We missed you. Athena: Glad to have you back, Blevins.” Sue brings the walkie talkie to her chest.
gif 8: Getting chocked up Sue responds, “Thank you, everyone. You’re not gonna get rid of me that easy.”
gif 9: Sue is smiling widely and eventually gestures to everyone and says, “Now back to work.”

Maybe you’ll get a promotion. Maybe, but that’s not what we are celebrating. What are we celebrating? Justice for Tracy Webber and Sue Blevins-I hear they are both going to be okay.

I am insanely in love with the idea that Buck would buy flowers for every single mother in his life besides his own
Like Athena gets some, obviously but also Maddie and Hen and Karen and Carla and Abuela and he even takes Chris to put flowers at Shannon's grave and he takes a bouquet for her too
oh and he gives some to Sue because Maddie told him what Sue said about the dispatchers being her kids
Just, Buck respecting and loving every single mother in his life except his biological one because she's garbage

what are your season 5 predictions or hopes!!
hopes is they add more women (and maybe even enbies) to the 118. love albert and the rep that we do already have, but honestly really tired of all these shows having an abundance of men and like one woman. yeah ofc we have athena, and maddie, and may, as well, but the biggest focus of the show is the 118... so 🤷
another hope is that when hen has finished med school that she stays as a paramedic firefighter and uses her phd knowledge to help her more in the field.
for them to not sweep maddie's issues under the rug. hopefully they don't just skip over it in the time jump, and they actually explore it, and hopefully do it delicately. they don't always handle things perfectly. and with healing, i know in a heartbeat, sue would give her the job back.
buddie scenes ofc ✌️
some more backstory into the dispatchers' pasts, or just insight into their lives. i feel like we're gonna get more on them, because it's seeming to be more increasing as the seasons go on
eddie and ana tension. a break up probably, too. tho i'm insure if it will be on or off screen. i know it's gonna feel off for a while if they haven't already broken up by the time the season comes back
bobby and athena learning to trust each other more and actually talk about things. it's gonna be a long ass process but, i am hoping to see the progress!
idk why but i feel like the next step in david and michael's relationship. whether it's talking about one day getting hitched or an actual proposal idk. but i just want good things for them.

let’s talk about 911 dispatch for a minute.
because I’m pretty sure I’ve cracked the blue shirt/maroon shirt code.
first off. there are multiple dispatch sites. the two divisions we know of in-universe are the downtown parker center and valley communications.
we also know that abby works at the parker center because she says during her 911 valentine’s day call in heartbreaker (911 1x06). it's emergency dispatcher abby clark, parker center. I'm not on site.
now for the shirts. abby and the rest of the dispatchers at the parker center all wear blue uniform shirts during s1. however, when abby calls 911 for buck she specifically requests to be transferred to an emergency medical dispatcher.
cut to said dispatcher, stephanie gaskins EMD. she’s in a room of dispatchers. who are all wearing maroon.
do you see the distinction? abby is an emergency dispatcher so she wears blue. stephanie is an emergency medical dispatcher so she wears maroon. and they appear to be separated on separate floors of the downtown parker center. or possibly a third, completely different dispatch site.
so let’s talk about why, at the start of s2, we start to see the ED and EMDs together. in under pressure (911 2x01) maddie, linda, and 4 other maroon shirt new hires walk onto the call center floor to mix with the veteran dispatchers already there. the blue and maroon shirted dispatchers. with the grey IT shirts (shoutout to terry flores! who's been around since the pilot) also floating around and offering tech support.
for production purposes it’s obviously because maddie, a former nurse, would wear a maroon shirt. so they mix the ED and EMDs into one floor.
but for fun headcanon purposes I think it’s all sue blevins. she’s been working at the LA call center since it opened in 1984. she’s one of the original dispatchers. I mean her ID number is 17. that’s a 37 year career.
so it only makes sense that sue would take over the call center after dave morrisey, abby’s first boss, transfers to valley commmunications sometime between worst day ever (911 1x04) and full moon (creepy AF) (911 1x07). she knows the system. knows how to improve the system. I don't know how this place runs without her.
also why she’d bring josh with her. technically, we don’t see him until 7.1 (911 2x02) when he’s training maddie. but we know he has to be there. sue’s the voice that saved his life in the 2008 flashbacks in first responders (911 4x11). and she immediately saw listening and typing skills during his 911 call. but she also saw his dedication to helping others. so she offers him her job. and as she works her way up to the head of the call center. josh works his way up with her. he’s her second in command. pays to be the underboss.
so I’m just gonna headcanon that josh was heading up sue’s project to combine the ED and EMDs during the last few eps of s1. which is why we don’t see him until the project is complete at the beginning of s2.
it’s also why sue has josh train maddie. he’s not an EMD (blue shirt for josh), but maddie has the same type of potential that josh did. and she sees it. sees that his no-nonsense training will resonate with maddie.
but also. sue treats all her dispatchers like family. throws them baby showers and welcome back parties. she is a parent fgure to them all. I have kids. I have a floor full of 'em. so of course she’s sees the something that is hurt and broken in her kids. the something that josh and maddie are missing. purpose and safety. friends and family. so she takes them under her wing. gives them a place to belong. throws them together during training because she knows they need each other. that they will be friends.
regardless of their backgrounds. their specialties. their shirt colors. blue ED or maroon EMD or even grey IT. they are all a family. because of sue.
