Welcome to the DAY6
"DAY6" returned to fans who had been waiting for the long-awaited performance after discharge. From the moment when they came up with the song to the moment when they all sang along on stage, they revealed the whole process of their new album with excitement and deeper sincerity. It's time to just trust, listen, and enjoy.
Q. It's the first album in three years since all the members came back after their military service. All the work you've done so far is precious, but I think it must have been more meaningful during the preparation process.
Sungjin: Since it's been a long time since I released an album, I wanted to do well, but as a result, I prepared as much as I could now. Young K: I think it's a moment we've been waiting for a long time too. While preparing for it, I felt like I wanted to play good music quickly and I was very excited. Wonpil : When I work on the DAY6 album, I'm the most sensitive and attentive, but I'm still the happiest. I think this album will be one of my most cherished albums. Dowoon: I've been waiting and preparing for this album for a long time, so I think it's half-excited and half-frightened.
Q. Also, "You Were Beautiful" released in early 2017 and the song "Time of Our Life" released in mid-2019 have been on the charts, what was it like to watch this phenomenon?
Sungjin: I'm just thankful that so many people sympathize with and cherish our songs. I hope one day, DAY6's other songs will be loved. Young K: It's such an honor and I'm so happy. It's been a long time since the release, but I think we've been doing well because we've been loved like this. On the other hand, no one knows when we'll be loved, so I thought we just had to keep doing good music. Wonpil: I've been working on music since my debut without paying attention to the ranking or the results, and I just wanted to do music that doesn't age. We've always focused on making albums that we can be satisfied with, and we've always worked on them, but we're just grateful and so amazed that more and more people like our music. Dowoon: I was sure. Rather than saying, "This song is definitely going to be released," I was sure that it was as good as we liked it, and now I'm just thankful that so many people besides us liked it.
Q. The title of the new album is 'Forever', and the spelling of Four is not Forever, what does it mean?
Sungjin: It is true that it melted the desire to be loved for a close time to eternity. Young K: It's the 4th generation of the fandom My Day that supports us, and the four of us borrowed "Four" with the hope of eternity and put good music into it. Wonpil: We came back after a long period of blank space, and now it's going to be forever without falling.
Q. How did you work on the title track "Welcome to the Show"?
Sungjin: I made it in an hour or two with a song that I would run around with my fans at the concert, and I really liked the feeling. It feels a little different from the title songs of the existing DAY6 album, but I'm satisfied with it. Young K: It started by saying let's make a song that everyone can sing and run with. If it doesn't come out soon, I said let's go home and started working on it, but fortunately, it worked out. Wonpil: It was the last song that I came to work on. In the situation where we had to make one more song, we actually worked on the song freely saying that it would be nice to have a song that we all sing together while running in the concert hall.
Q. What is the part that you put the most effort into working on the new album, and the part that you think you like the most in a specific section, lyrics, or performance for each member?
Sungjin: I paid a lot of attention to the guitar tone. I tried my best to create a mood not only when I hit the lead line, but also in the section where I played the chord. Young K : I think the part that I put the most effort into is the lyrics of the title song. It went through the most revision process ever and I tried to write it so that everyone could relate to it. Wonpil: It's been a while since we came back with DAY6 album, so we paid a lot of attention not to lose our color. Personally, I really like the part where all the members sing along in the title track, "Welcome to the Show." I want to see you sing together as soon as possible with My Day and the audience. Dowoon: I like the group singing part of the title song, Welcome to the Show, the most. If we sing together at the concert, I think it will feel like we are truly completing the stage together.
Q. There are seven songs including "HAPPY," "The Power of Love," "Get The Hell Out," "Sad Ending," "Let Me Love," and "I Didn't Know That's Your Love." Can you explain the songs in the album other than the title track?
Sungjin: I worked on it thinking that it would be the title of each track. All the songs are about situations that can happen in life, so I'm curious about what each of the listeners think rather than explaining the song. "HAPPY" is a song that keeps asking the fundamental question, "Can I be happy?" to explain one by one. I don't give you the answer, but by asking this question, I think I can comfort you that you are not the only one who has had such anxiety and agony. "The Power of Love" is about talking about and spreading the power of love. "Get the Hell Out" is a song about a world that someone you want to forget can no longer think of. "Sad Ending" is a song that tells you to end with pain to the person who has already left your heart. "Let Me Love You" is a song that appeals to you that you can give true love. "didn't know" is a song that says that it was love, looking back on the past relationship. Please show a lot of love! Wonpil: It's the same with the title track, but I think the songs in this album contain all the music we're pursuing in terms of sound. It's an album that contains all the songs that represent DAY6's musical sensibility, so I think it'll be fun to listen to it from track 1 to 7! "Ididn't know was a bit of a fresh shock when I first heard it. The chorus line that feels like a bounce was very thick, but it was amazing because it matched well with the melody that the older members played.
Q. What the members learned musically throughout the hiatus, or what they naturally became interested in these days, I wonder how the members' changes were reflected in DAY6's music and this album.
Sungjin: After a hiatus as DAY6, I've become more interested in sound. I'm still learning, but when I was working on the sound for this album, I also used my knowledge. Young K: My yearning for the band sound that DAY6 can give has grown and I'm excited to have it on this album. Wonpil: I don't think much has changed, but at the same time, I think the part that hasn't changed is that I always think about what My Day will like the most, who are waiting for us and always supporting us. So this album is also familiar to those who are looking forward to our music, but we wanted to play richer music. Dowoon: I became more interested in composing. I wanted to know more and more about music.
Q. Since you're about to make an official comeback in a long time, it must be overwhelming and special. Is there a message you want to send to your fans before promoting your new album?
Sungjin: Thank you for consistently trusting and supporting us! I hope you won't forget that we also trust and support you. Here we go again. Let's run together!!! Young K : DAY6 is back everyone. Thank you for letting us sing and play. Let's be happy! Wonpil: Thank you so much, My Day, for waiting and supporting us during this long blank period. To repay you, I thought I'd like to come back with an album as soon as possible. There will be nothing more to make us wait! Let's walk slowly and for a long time with us. We love you so much. We've worked hard on this album, so please listen to our songs and look forward to it! Let's play together!

When He Sings You To Sleep ~ Day6 Reaction
Sungjin:
The feeling of you shuffling made Sungjin turn too, immediately coming face to face with you. “You’re not still awake, are you?” He frowned, picking up on the fact that you’d been having a restless night.
Your head nodded as a pout formed in your expression, “I just wish there was something that would help me to sleep.”
“I could help,” Sungjin quickly suggested, an air of confidence in his voice. “What about if I sing to you for a little while? That always seems to help you fall asleep.”
“But you need to sleep too,” you retorted, only to quickly be shushed by Sungjin. The look in his eyes let you know how serious he was, desperate to try and help you sleep. “Only if you’re absolutely sure Sungjin.”
A faint hum came from him, “of course, you just close your eyes and let me do the rest.”
“You make it sound so easy,” you giggled as you made yourself comfortable once again, “sleeping isn’t quite that simple.”
“It is when I’m the one that’s singing to you Y/N.”
Young K:
Your eyes lit up as Younghyun agreed to sing for you as you made yourself comfortable in his lap. “The big decision now is what song you want me to sing for you,” he told you, not knowing your mind was already made up.
Your head turned so that you were looking up at Younghyun, “you know I love whenever you sing Fly Me To The Moon.”
“I knew you were going to say that,” he chuckled, reading you like a book. “Are you sure that you’re not bored of listening to me sing the same song to you over and over?”
“No way,” you smirked, popping each of the sounds whilst Younghyun placed his hand against your side. “There’s no way that I could ever get bored of listening to it, you and that song are the perfect combination.”
He couldn’t help but smile as Younghyun listened to you, “you need to close your eyes in that case.”
“I can do that,” you assured him, hurrying to close your eyes and make yourself comfy. “Now you need to start singing.”
“A singer needs time to warm up Y/N.”
Wonpil:
A soft smile formed on your face as you were woken by the sound of singing, your eyes slowly opening and looking to your left. “I can’t sing you to sleep if you’re awake,” Wonpil scolded as he noticed you.
Your smile turned up even more as you stirred, “why would I want to sleep when I could listen to you singing instead?”
“I’m only singing if you sleep, because I know you’re tired,” Wonpil told you, poking his tongue out at the same time too. “If you don’t close your eyes, we can sit in silence.”
“Since when were you so mean to me?” You chuckled back across to Wonpil, your voice groggy from how sleepy you were. “Why can’t you just sing to me to make me close my eyes and want to fall asleep?”
Wonpil’s head reluctantly nodded back at you, “as long as you promise to try and get some rest.”
“I promise,” you agreed with him, “but you can’t stop singing just because you think I’m asleep, you have to be sure.”
“I’ll make sure that I check you’re definitely asleep.”
Dowoon:
You looked dejectedly across at Dowoon as his head shook in rejection to your suggestion. “I’m not singing you to sleep, my singing voice is rubbish,” he protested, bringing a groan of frustration out of you.
You poked against his arm as his head started shaking, “I think you’ve got a great singing voice, no one else can hear us too.”
“What about if I hum?” Dowoon proposed instead, “or maybe I could just tap my hand against the side of the bed to give you a beat to fall asleep to instead?”
“I said I wanted you to sing me to sleep,” you swiftly reminded him, meeting his eyes with a firm gaze. “If I love your singing voice, what’s stopping you from singing? You know that I love listening to you too.”
Dowoon looked sceptically back to you, “you really think that it can help you to fall asleep?”
“I could not be surer,” you chimed, the smile on your face growing. “What do you say? Are you going to sing for me?”
“I guess seeing as you asked so nicely.”

“Please promise me we won’t have a repeat of last year,” you begged the ghost standing in the corner of your bedroom as you put on a pair of earrings - a gift from Sungjin.
Younghyun hummed and made an offhand comment as he looked up at the ceiling of your bedroom. He hadn’t quite been able to look at you the same since that night, but he wouldn’t tell you that lest it ruin your friendship.
“Younghyun,” you warned. “Answer me.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” he responded, rolling his eyes before they landed on the two diamond earrings you had finished putting in. He was sure that they cost the poor boy an arm and a leg (or he robbed a jewelry store or he sold his kidney on th black market).
You opened your mouth to say something before being interrupted by the ringing of your doorbell.
“That’s probably Sungjin,” you commented as you got up. “He agreed to arrive earlier to help me get a few things ready before everyone arrives.” You rushed out of the room, Younghyun hot on your heels.
The ghost huffed as you opened the door, greeting Sungjin with a kiss. Sungjin waved at Younghyun who narrowed his eyes at him. Sungjin’s hand went back down as quickly as it went up, Younghyun’s eyes following and widening as he noticed the small box-like outline of something in his slacks pocket.
So he does know how to dress up nicely, he thought.
“What can I help out with?” he asked, clapping his hands.
You spun on your heels walking right past Younghyun, “I got some new bedding for the guest room and there’s some tables that I haven’t had a chance to build for the rooms too. Someone broke the ones that were there during Thanksgiving for a little prank.”
Younghyun cringed before he shot up straight remembering that he was the only one involved in that little prank - he simply took the blame for Sungjin to keep him in your good graces…although he was the mastermind behind the prank and convincing the man to join in on the fun.
“I’ll take care of it as quickly as I can,” Sungjin coughed out. “Do you need any help in the kitchen afterwards?”
You shook your head shooing him away, “I’ll take care of all the food and then everyone will be here before we realize it.”
~~~
Younghyun watched as Sungjin finished building the last of the tables you’d ordered.
“I should’ve known better than to go along with you,” Sungjin huffed. “I knew that prank would come to bite me in the ass.”
Younghyun looked at his hands ignoring his words, “What’s in your pocket?”
Sungjin groaned as he bumped elbow on the table just as he went to move it, “What?”
“Your pocket,” he said pointedly. “Are you planning to ask for her hand in marriage?”
His eyes widened, but he didn’t say a single word.
“So you are. Don’t you think you’re moving too fast?”
Silence.
“I’m not giving up on her just yet,” he uttered. “I’m not giving up on her. So get ready to fight for her affections because I will do everything in my power to win her over. That I-”
“You’re a ghost. You don’t exist in the same plane. You can’t make her happy like I can.”
The tension in the room could be cut with a knife between the two. But a knife wasn’t necessary as you walked into the room with the brightest smile on your face.
“My mom just called and they’re almost here. You should hurry up and finish before they get here Sungjin. And Younghyun,” you added. “No funny business.”
Just as quickly as you had appeared you left not sensing an ounce of malice between the two. Sungjin and Younghyun glared at one another before the former walked out of the room as he heard you call for him. Alone in the room, Younghyun raked his hand through his hair feeling absolutely nothing as he did so. Maybe Sungjin was right, but that didn’t mean a damn thing.
He heard the giggling of your cousins as they finally arrived and entered the house.
“Maybe we’ll see the ghost again!” he heard very loudly.  Oh you were going to be mad at him….but he could figure that out later. Right now… couldn’t disappoint those kids when all they wanted was to see the ghost.
Hi okay, so i read this sungjin fanfiction years ago on ao3, it was amazing, brilliantly written, and i cant find it anymore. Since then i've started using a new email and everything so basically theres no traces of it either so i decided to take things to tumblr and see if i can find it somehow (it may even be possibly deleted).
okay so it was a one shot where mc meets sungjin at a party (or some sort of gathering) and he's a mutual because both their best friends are friends. they already kinda know each other (there was this really nice mention of their lives orbiting each other but never meeting) and i think the mc was a cake supplier and she'd baked the cake for the party. and sungjin was well, sungjin w the band and everything. i think the mc had pink hair, i might be wrong here. but yes they both get pushed to pretend to date each other for their own reasons and they barely know each other but go along with it so that they dont have to be humiliated. it might have been something to do w a wedding cause i remember a bride and groom being there, and they were their friends. mc had a reputation for staying single or something so everyone was so surprised to hear she was dating. then the whole time they passed snarky comments at each other, they danced for a bit, and then she had to go? or needed to? so they both got in his car and drove away??????? i think. there was def something to do w a car and them driving away.
oh and the only thing i can find about it is from this doc from like 2018/19 in which i used to put paragraphs or sentences that i found were nicely written, and thats:
"He was willing to be a fool in front of anyone who was able to keep their eyes open for long enough."
this.
so if anyone knows this author/ fanfiction, please help ive been browsing all night tryna find it, ive tried god knows how many tricks to find stuff. there was also another work from this author i really REALLY liked that i remember even less about
if i find it through this post ima believe in god again
Obviously Oblivious // Sungjin
Apologize in advance for any typos and grammar mistakes. Feel free to correct me on message box!
Tumblr media
"You can borrow my notes if you missed a thing or two from Mr. Lee," I said as Sungjin was still catching up with his notes although the class had been dismissed.
He looked up at me, then taking my notebook. His calloused fingers grazed mine. I swear at that moment I wanted to pause everything.
"Thanks a lot! Will give it back to you soon," he held my notebook as if holding it for dear life.
I beamed my best smile, "just take your time, Sungjin."
It took a lot of encouragement to talk to him at the first place. This afternoon I just pushed my luck and thank God, it worked. Sungjin and I had an interaction! I wasn't brave enough to have a chit chat with him despite his warmth towards everyone in our class.
After all this time I just watch him from afar, with me sitting at the back of class and him on the second or third row.
Yes, I've had feelings for Sungjin since...the 2nd year, I think. We took cultural studies class back then. He couldn't be more perfect with his intelligence and pretty eyes. FYI, this semester we take creative writing class.
Sungjin was gathering up his belongings and I watched him as if it was the most appealing art in this world. But yeah, what could I do when the best guy on my version standing gloriously in front of me???
He caught me staring at him and chuckling. Damn, even his chuckle is attractive.
"Why are you still here?" Sungjin asked as getting up from his seat.
Dumb me, I just stood few meters away from him and said nothing.
"Hello?? Anybody here?" I jolted back from my reverie when Sungjin waved his hand right on my face. Good, way to go to make myself looking like a fool.
Then I heard him chuckling again. Please, do more. I'd like to hear it everyday.
"I think you need coffee. You seem lost," he blurted.
Don't you know that I'm completely lost in your eyes, Sungjin?
Having a crush on someone surely makes me corny.
Honestly I'm more tea person than coffee. But hell, as long as it involves Sungjin, I'll definitely go.
We both headed to a cafe just across the campus.
"It's my treat. You can order whatever you fancy," I was kinda surprised with what Sungjin uttered.
Today I was sitting in a cafe with Sungjin and he even treated me. Guess the universe was being nice to me.
Sungjin had iced americano and I picked hazelnut latte.
We sat there face to face silently with some lo-fi tune playing in the background.
"Thanks anyway, for the drink," I broke the silence between us.
He nodded and sipped his drink, "so, tell me about yourself..."
Did I hear it wrong? Sungjin wanted to know me? My forehead puckered.
He cleared his throat, "you know...you tell things...anything make you intrigued these days??"
He seemed flustered with his own words. I've never seen this side of Sungjin. Him dressed up with confidence was gone.
Now it's my turn to chuckle.
"Out of the blue, you want to know me? Why?"
"Because, I see you frequently yet we barely talk." Sungjin fidgeted on his seat. He didn't even look at me when talking.
"Well, we just meet once in a week for....only two months in this class plus we're not doing any project together and you expect us to have a conversation?"
As I looked up, I met his sparkling eyes. I can say that beautiful is an understatement for his eyes.
"Actually—" he ate one of ice cubes in his americano, "—I saw you often at the library, alone. Or with your mate. Way long ago before this semester began," he stated
I was startled with his confession. The fact that Sungjin seeing me often in the library was overwhelming.
Sungjin cackled, "you're oblivious."
I furrowed my brows, "what?!"
As if this day couldn't get any more overwhelming, he added, "I have an eyes for you since freshman year."
And those words left me puzzled.
a/n: I may or may not write this story from Sungjin's POV. As you can read, this chapter is sort of cliffhanger and I do hate the cliffhanger lol
on my google docs, this was called “sungjin is a jealous piece of hoe” and it kinda works
prompt: 55 , sungjin , fluff , pls thx bb -- @bfsungjin
word count; 879 lmao
Sungjin had been in a shitty mood the entire week. You hadn’t noticed, at least, not for the most part. You hadn’t been ignoring him on purpose, or really ignoring him at all, but, after knowing the rest of Day6 for about eight months, it had finally clicked on how you knew Younghyun; the two of you had gone to high school together. No, you hadn’t really been friends, but it was really cool to talk about past memories, seeing if you had had any overlap.
The band, luckily, didn’t have any schedules that week, so you were able to chill at cafes and such with Younghyun, just discussing the various teachers. The great thing about the two of you being bilingual was that if, and when, one or both of you got excited, you could quickly switch over to Korean or English. It only got complicated when you couldn’t think in either language, which happened more often than you’d think.
However, spending one of the few weeks that they had off with one of his closest friends didn’t feel very great to Sungjin. He spent the majority of the days that he had off moping around the dorms, annoying everyone else to no end. He wouldn’t talk, wouldn’t do much of anything, just fell into a mild depression. He watched one singular show on Netflix twenty times in a row, spending the rest of his time either eating or sleeping. It was a little bit terrifying to watch.
At one point, Wonpil got sick of it. He cared too much about his band mates to let any of them fall into even a mild depression. Although he would annoy the living hell out of Sungjin, asking him stupid questions, he still cared for him, and didn’t want him to be sad. So when he asked him another stupid question, specifically, “Are you a bear?” and Sungjin went off on him, Wonpil decided that he was officially sick of this.
“What’s up?” you asked immediately after you picked up the phone that had interrupted your conversation with Younghyun. “Is everything okay?”
Wonpil sighed, seemingly directly into the phone’s microphone. “What did Sungjin do to you, and how can I make up for it?”
“Wait, what do you mean?” You turned away from Younghyun. “He didn’t do anything.”
“Then what is up with him?” You racked your brain for any reason as to why your boyfriend would be mopey, then it hit you. Really?
“Is he being jealous that I’m spending time with Brian?” Younghyun, who had been trying his best to tune out the conversation, perked up immediately at his name.
“What did I do?” he mouthed. You pursed your lips and shook your head.
“Is that what you’ve been doing this week? God, I thought that you had a fight or something. I was wondering why you hadn’t been over this week. Jesus Christ.” He muttered the last part. “Can you come over so he’ll stop being angsty?” You sighed.
“Yeah, Brian and I’ll be right over.” You hung up, not checking to see if Wonpil had anything else to say. You quickly paid your bill, finishing your smoothie and your sandwich as quickly as you could. The two of you kept talking about high school memories as you walked back to the dorms, walking right in.
“Sungjin?” you called into the quiet living space. The quiet sounds of the Office were audible as the two of you stepped further into the front hall. “Where are you?” Younghyun wandered off towards his room, the slight creak of a closing door sounding before he flopped onto his bed. You called Sungjin’s name again. This time, he turned around.
“Oh,” was all he said. “You’re here,” he continued a minute of awkward silence later.
You sat down on the couch. “What’s up with you?”
Sungjin sighed. “What do you mean?”
“Wonpil said you haven’t gone outside all week. You haven’t called or texted me.”
“You were having fun with Brian.” The name was poison on his tongue, being spat rather than said as he refused to look at you. “I didn’t want to ruin it for you.”
You put your fingers on the bridge of your nose. “Jesus Christ,” you muttered. “We went to high school together and just realized it. We’re friends. I’m dating you. I love you. Were you jealous of Younghyun?”
Sungjin’s jaw clenched up. “No.” You sighed.
“It’s okay if you were. It’s healthy, even. But you don’t need to be.” At this point, Sungjin turned his face towards you. “Brian is like...my brother. I love you. I’ll say it as many times as I need to. I swear to god, we’re only friends.”
“I know that!” Sungjin replied, blatantly offended. “I wasn’t jealous because I thought you were cheating, I know you better than that. I just….I was jealous because we don’t get weeks off anymore, and you spent the time that we do have off with Brian. The fact that you knew each other before doesn’t help, but I miss you.” You turned the rest of your body towards Sungjin.
“I miss you, too.”
He smiled. “Do you want to watch the Office?”
You rolled your eyes, groaning back. “Yes, you nerd.”
In Your Arms ➺ Sungjin One Shot
The same person that made him realize that he will never be the same person he was before.
Tumblr media
It was a casual cold Winter's day, hands in my pockets with a bright smile on my face as my footsteps tapped against the hard concrete floor. A breath of smoke escaped past my lips, my hands huddling around my mouth to catch some warmth in an attempt to get heated up quicker but failed to make any difference so all I could do was leave it in my pockets.
My denim jacket was thin, a small lining of fabric so a lot of cold air slipped past the cracks and hitting my skin underneath, my long sleeved shirt underneath not doing much good to protect against the cold.
The town was quieter today, not as crowded as usual like normal Saturday's and Sunday's, the atmosphere was a lot different. People came from here and there but not many stayed for long, often grabbing some coffee to freshen up their morning or to go for a quick jog around the block to make themselves warm. I wasn't much in the mood for exercising, a cup of coffee was enough for me.
I walked a few more steps ahead of me before I was met with a door and the words "Brian's Cafe" on the front imprinted in calligraphy and white film. Pushing against the metal door, the cold air making it painful to the touch and causing the coldness to radiate on the metal, the recognizable ringing sounds of the bell echoed through the shop, some warm air finally hitting my skin from the heater as a sigh of relief was let out.
There were only a few people inside the cafe, some sitting by the windows with another person in front of them or casually gazing out by themselves having some hot chocolate with a fresh muffin or two. I let my steps take me to the front counter where the familiar face popped out from behind the staff door to the kitchen and greet me with the same old smile.
"Hey, Hyung! It's been awhile hasn't it?" Brian asked, his black hair dangling over his forehead covering a bit of his eyes. I could only nod in response and chuckle for a second before returning to a straight face.
"The usual, I'm guessing?" He said giving me a look of cheekiness as I laughed it out.
"I'll have a change today. I don't feel like having an Americano today, it feels off."
"That's a first, it's always Americano and I've never heard you change it ever since now."
"It's good to change..." I replied, scratching my neck before recollecting my memories and suddenly dropping the smile to form almost a frown.
"Right?"
Brian seemed to pick up on my new behaviour, leaning forward against the counter without breaking the eye contact and gazed into my eyes, his soft black pupils looking into mine with a focus expression. He seemed concentrated, only focusing on my face as things got a little uncomfortable due to the distance between our faces, almost as if we would kiss each other.
He immediately broke the silence after some time.
"Somethings wrong... I can tell..." Brian muttered under his breath, letting out a sigh and staring into my eyes as I questioned his response.
"My friend wouldn't change his order for no reason, I know him too well. It's always been Americano."
"W-What's wrong with Americano? I can change the order if I'd like to how I want my order to be taken. There's nothing wrong with that." I answered back, defending my speech and leaning back and forth on my legs before the sound of the bells to the cafe door sounded into the room.
Brian and I turned to the door, our eyes looking at the person that had come in while loud noises seemed to erupt from them, loud footsteps entering the cafe and chuckles heard everywhere. The cafe seemed much more livelier with them in the area, the once peaceful sound of silence now turned into a giant club or concert stage, something that didn't feel like a quiet library of some sort.
Our jaws seemed to drop when we looked at who it was, or rather, who they were. Brian was shocked, his eyes never leaving their sight as he watched the two walk in, boy and girl with giant smiles on their faces and hands cupped together tightly. I knew what he was thinking of, turning his attention away from the couple initiating contact with each other in public and turned towards me, noticing how my reaction was different.
I watched in pain. It was a straight face but my mouth slightly agape, my vision focused on them and their hands, their fingers intertwining and the bright smiles they showed, almost as bright as the sun perhaps. The looks they gave each other, the contact they made, the sweet connection between the two made my heart inside my chest ache harder, beating at a rate I couldn't control and send pain everywhere. A dying pain that is easy to conceal but difficult to heal.
Brian croaked his voice, making me turn my attention away.
"O-Oh, sorry, lost track then." I could only laugh it out, a pretend one, of course.
"No, you're good. You looked incredibly lost though so I had to bring you back to reality. So, what's it going to be besides Americano?"
I thought hard for a moment, giving some free time to myself to think, my mind still jumbled from the heartache before.
"A Caramel Macchiato, please." I told him with a decent smile as he looked at me a little shocked at first, a weird expression he pulled off as if he realized something before inputting it into my order.
"One Caramel Macchiato, coming right up." He said before pulling out his hand to retrieve my money, to which I pulled out the correct amount from my wallet. He added it to the register and headed for the coffee machine where he began to brew the beans, the fresh smell lingering around my nose as I sighed and went to take a seat at an empty table.
I couldn't help but turn to the couple sitting in one of the far tables of the cafe, exchanging glances at one another and touching each other's noses as if it was a natural thing to do in public. They squealed loudly with joy at each others touch, almost loud enough for some of the other customers to glance at them with annoyance. They didn't care, they didn't seem to care one bit if they disturbed other people.
It was like the spotlight was on them, and them only.
I watched from afar as they began talking to each other, smiling every once in awhile at the other person's response as they chuckled and laughed. The conversations were moderate noise, the sounds quiet enough to not be able to travel to the table where I was, but I could distinguish some words if it was completely silent. I couldn't help but eavesdrop on them, listening to their conversation in hopes of discovering something new.
"So, how's life been lately? I heard your ex-boyfriend hasn't been around lately. He must've been such a douche." The male laughed while the girl just sighed, a hint of happiness on her smirk.
"Life's been good now since he's gone out of my life, I don't feel like I'm being the one on top anymore, the one who has to be pulled down by him in order to continue loving him. He didn't love me so I won't love him back." She replied, making the male incredibly happy and eye smiling before leaning in to give her a peck on the lips.
The mere contact of the kiss made everything collapse, my whole world falling to pieces at how they managed to exchange love without being humiliated in front of other people. My heart ached, even more, it beat faster and faster, the pain in my chest increasing as it started to get harder to breathe and everything was turning darker, colder, emptier.
My heart was hurting because of her.
"One Caramel Macchiato." Brian's voice called from the counter as my head perked up and got out of the seat, walking to the table to retrieve my cup of coffee.
The walk was desperate, pitiful as I tried hard not to look back at them, at her to see if she would see me, or look at me in some way. My hand held onto the warm cup, the new heat hitting my skin as I brought it back to my table and sat down, only to look up from my seat and notice that her eyes were glancing at me. Those eyes, those feelings...
I quickly turned away, making sure we didn't look each other in the eyes once more as she turned back to the male who didn't seem to notice the exchanging of glances before. Cupping the cardboard around the cup, I made use of the heat from the coffee, hoping to warm up as the heat was dying down. It was getting colder despite the heater on full blast and the door shut tightly. It was going on for ages trying to achieve some heat, but I couldn't feel a thing. I was covered in goosebumps for no reason.
She stood up along with the guy in front of her, walking together hand in hand to the counter and waiting for Brian to take their order while she waited patiently. It was hard not to look at how beautiful she was, the shortcut dress with polka dots and long bag hanging from her shoulder, his tight jeggings and thin hands wrapping around your waist as his blonde fluffy hair seemed to wave around with anticipation. He was perfect for her, he gave her everything she ever wanted, something I could never do if I dated her, ever.
I just wish I could turn back time and do it again. Start over and retrace my steps.
Brian came to her aid and smiled, except a bit of pain seemed to show as if he clearly knew how I was feeling inside too. He kept his facial expression and took the orders, giving them a nod before they walked off to their seat and blabbered on again.
They reminded me of someone I used to be.
Someone I used to become, a person that wasn't right, wasn't perfect or fit to be a perfect boy. I ruined it all within a matter of seconds, everything falling apart without me truly realizing it. I used to be like that guy, excited, touched and happy all the time.
I was just blinded, blinded by the fact that all I cared for was myself. My beating heart that stands today only exists because I've endured the pain that has ached for weeks, excruciating pain. It hurt seeing her with him, making me look back at my mistakes and understand that...
I can't ever be as good as him.
"Two Caramel Macchiatos." Brian called out from the counter as her head and his seemed to flick up immediately, standing up to grab their cups and smile at Brian before turning around and holding hands, walking out the door and into the cold winter air.
Both of us watched them walk out the door, their facial expression never changing one bit as I looked down at my cup and noticed the message written on the top of the lid that I haven't seen when I got it. It was Brian's handwriting, I could tell as the black ink was glossed on the cardboard top and in bold.
You lost her, didn't you?
I could only sigh loudly and stare at my own two feet from underneath the table, holding back the tears as the couple before frolicked outside before escaping past my view. They disappeared, never to come back the same direction and Brian's gaze turning towards me as he noticed my condition.
I wasn't okay, not at all. Everything has moved on, life moves on as well.
Mistakes are made and regrets aren't forgiven. It was one chance and it all went down the drain in a split second.
"Why... Why did it have to be me..." I mumbled, holding back my tears only to let a loose one fall down my burning cheeks and muttering to myself random words I couldn't even understand. Brian felt sorry, everyone was quiet like the cafe was before the two people came in.
One of them being a person I gave up on like rubbish.
I let go of her. I slipped her out of my arms as I didn't give her the same love as him. He is better than me and it hurts to know that I was wrong, I wasn't right for you and didn't change to make a difference.
My heart still beats for you, beats for a person that has already found something new, but this incurable scar will only learn to heal once I learn to love you properly again and understand that people will only do the same if they are treated the same.
I didn't do it.
I couldn't do it.
I let go of you.
Let you go out of my arms...
Letting you fall into another man's.
A man that wasn't me.
When You Sleepily Lay Down In His Lap ~ Day6 Reaction
Sungjin:
A light chuckle escaped from you as a hand tickled against your waist, your eyes flickering up at Sungjin. “Did I tickle?” He innocently asked as he watched you.
Your eyes rolled at the knowing look that was on Sungjin’s face, “you know exactly what you’re doing, you can never just leave me to close my eyes.”
Sungjin’s shoulders shrugged as he continued to joke around with you, “I just thought you’d like for me to hold onto your waist, keep you still so you don’t fall off of my lap.”
“I won’t fall,” you chuckled, “I’m buried in nice and snug against your lap now.”
“Isn’t it better to just be sure Y/N?”
Your head shook back at Sungjin, “if you keep tickling me then you know that I’ll find a way to get you to pay for it, you’ll regret doing this.”
“You would never be able to get revenge on me,” Sungjin challenged, watching your eyes widen at his suggestion.
“Are you really willing to try me though Sungjin?”
“Maybe I’ll move my hand after all.”
Young K:
A slight hum came from you as fingers tangled in with your hair, tugging against you gently. “Sorry, sorry,” Youngkyun stuttered as he played with your hair.
A chuckle came from you as Youngkyun loosened his grip, twirling your hair around. “I thought you said that it would be cosy for me to lay in your lap?”
Youngkyun’s head shook as you messed with him in reply to his apology. “It is cosy, just when I’m careful with your hair. To be fair, it’s not my fault your hair is so much a mess.”
“Hey,” you gasped, “my hair is definitely not a mess, it’s just a little stressed.”
“Not now I’ve taken care of it though.”
You nodded in agreement with Youngkyun, “I guess laying in your lap has its perks, especially when you decide you want to play with my hair.”
“I was supposed to make you sleepy playing with your hair,” Youngkyun admitted, knowing his clumsiness hadn’t quite managed it.
“Maybe if you’re careful I can get some rest.”
“I promise I’ll be more careful now.”
Wonpil:
Your head shook as Wonpil’s hands tapped into his lap, encouraging you to lay down there. “You’re tired, come and lay in my lap so you can rest Y/N.”
You were still apprehensive as Wonpil took a hold of your hand, “I don’t want to get in your way by laying in your lap, you won’t be able to move your legs.”
As you continued to protest, Wonpil decided to take your hand and pull you down so that you were in his lap. “I wouldn’t offer to let you lay in my lap if I was bothered by it silly.”
“You could just be being nice,” you teased, “you might just feel bad for me.”
“I do feel bad that you’re feeling tired.”
You smiled up at Wonpil as you turned to be able to look up at him, “it’s just been a busy day at work, you should know, you have plenty of those too.”
“So, next time I have a busy day, does that mean that I can rest in your lap too?” He questioned, willing you to nod your head in reply.”
“How badly do you want me to agree to that?”
“Honestly, Y/N, you have no idea.”
Dowoon:
Your smile turned up even higher as an arm draped around your waist, glancing up you met the eyes of Dowoon straight away. “Are you comfortable there?”
Your head nodded straight away as you pulled Dowoon’s arm even tighter around your frame, “it’s always comfortable for me whenever I lay down in your lap.”
A nod of the head came from Dowoon as he continued to watch you closely, “are you sure that I can’t get you a cushion or something to rest your head on, make you even cosier?”
“Then I wouldn’t be laying in your lap,” you joked, “it would be a cushion.”
“You might hurt yourself in my lap.”
Your head shook in response to Dowoon, “if I’m uncomfortable then I promise that I’ll tell you so that you can look after me and cuddle me some more.”
“I don’t need you to be uncomfortable for me to cuddle you,” Dowoon assured you, deciding to snuggle down even closer to you.”
“I think that I could get pretty used to this.”
“I think that I could enjoy this too.”
Lethiferous
Tumblr media
Lethiferous (adj.) - deadly; bringing death or destruction
Pairing: Park Sungjin (Day6) x Reader; Genre: Action, The Purge AU, the movie is called horror but I’d say it’s not.. maybe suspense instead?!; Rating: nsfw, NC-17; Warnings: It’s the Purge: killing through guns, knifes and other weapons, dead bodies basically everywhere, mentions of an illness, mentions of injustice and what’s wrong with the purge, more killing, active killing -> nothing too gorey though, blood, breaking into a vault, shooting at a dead body out of spite; Wordcount: 3.398
Summary: The annual purge was about to start and for the first time ever you decided to do something that was illegal on every other day. But being outside during the purge was more dangerous than you thought, if it weren’t for someone who came to your side when you were in need.
A/N: It’s not the 21st in Korea anymore.. I’m like an hour late but I hope it still counts!! Anyway! This is for the monthly event from kpopscape with the theme The Purge! And this is my entry for this!
Tumblr media
You clenched your jaw while you observed the street through the crack in your curtains. The sun was slowly setting and you knew there was not much time left until the clock struck 7 PM.
Only a few people were roaming the streets for various reasons. Some were searching for shelter, others wanted to get a few last groceries and the last type started to form groups for the night.
A scoff escaped your nose and you shook your head. You would never understand people that would go shopping when it’s only a twelve hour event. They wouldn’t die from starvation. Instead they rather caught the attention of those groups.
“Come back into the room, dear”, your grandmother called from her bed, “it’s too dangerous being near the windows.”
Your eyes roamed one last time over the street before you pulled yourself away and stepped back. “Just checking”, you mumbled and sat on the edge of the bed, “they’re already grouping outside.”
“It’s fine, dear. Don’t worry. Those groups are not after a helpless granny.” She patted your arm and smiled reassuringly, before she coughed violently. Her whole body shook from the force behind it.
The pained smile you had given her, immediately vanished and concern took over your features. You hurried and helped her up to ease the coughing somehow. Dread filled your chest with every passing second of her coughing.
She clawed at your arm with one hand while she was doubled over, gasping for air in between the coughs. Once she finally finished she dropped back into the pillows, her chest heaving as she placed one hand on it.
“Try to rest as much as you can, okay?” You smiled gently and handed her a glass of water and a sleeping pill, knowing she always wanted to use one during the purge night.
Your grandmother always claimed she got knocked out due to the pill, meaning she wouldn’t know about anything that’s happening around her. It became a ritual for her after your grandfather died, letting her feel somewhat comfortable throughout the night.
“Thanks dear.” She took the pill and the glass into her own hands after getting up a little. “Are you really okay with staying alone throughout the night? I can stay awake with you.”
You shook your head quickly, telling her once again that you didn’t mind and would go to sleep for yourself soon.
After your grandmother fell ill you had moved back and started living with her as she was the only family left. You tried to ease her day to day life as much as possible. You took her to doctor’s appointments, to health checks, bought the groceries and cooked for her whenever she felt too weak.
That was three years ago and for all this time you didn’t know what caused her illness. Each health check was without results and no medicine actually helped her. While your grandmother tried to stay positive you despaired more and more. Especially when the doctors finally discovered what was wrong and told you the price for the medicine.
A price so high you would never be able to pay with your simple salary. You still tried to fight for your grandmother, not ready to lose her.
Once she took the pill and fell asleep soon after, the soft expression you always had on your face fell and your features turned grim.
Normally you stayed within the apartment or at least the apartment complex during a purge night, staying near your grandmother and keeping her safe.
In the three years you lived with her it happened only once that someone tried to break into the apartment but you were able to scare them off with a bat.
You knew how to defend yourself but you didn’t actively search for violence, trying to avoid it as much as possible.
Usually.
This night though was different. You had a mission and wanted to meet with a group before the purge officially started. A lot of groups asked for members and stated their purpose weeks before the official purge night and you stumbled upon one of them by accident.
After a little research you deemed them somewhat safe, knowing they had a similar purpose as you. This group didn’t want to kill, instead they wanted to be like a modern Robin Hood.
You got ready and grabbed your empty backpack and your phone. You glanced once more into the room of your grandmother, making sure she was deeply asleep before you sneaked out of the apartment.
Once you were out on the street you pulled your hoodie up and covered your face as you hid in the shadows on your way to the meeting point.
You heard others hollering and shouting as they intimidated the few bypassers that tried to get home or somewhere safe. Shivers ran down your spine whenever you heard them laughing. You knew people like these used the purge for the fun of killing. They didn’t care who or how they killed as long as blood was shed.
“Only 45 minutes left until the annual purge night.” You flinched at the loud announcement ringing through the air of the streets. You would never get used to the robotic voice telling the countdown. It was awful and made the night even more unrealistic as it was already.
“You made it”, an enthusiastic voice greeted you when you rounded a corner, patting your shoulder as you came to a halt. “Thought you might chicken out.”
You just nodded, feeling somewhat hesitant now that you heard his tone of voice. How could someone sound so happy on a night like this? How could anybody be enthusiastic like this?
“Alright then. Everybody get your masks! We only have 12 hours, that is not a lot of time! Let’s make the best out of it! Let’s have a successful purge!”
You looked up at his announcement, seeing that a dozen people got into action. They hurried past you, putting on different masks - most of them resembling the face of clowns - and regrouped quickly again.
One of them thrusted a mask and a weapon into your hands and pulled you into some sort of formation. He motioned to you to put it on before he turned his attention towards the leader, who already spoke some encouraging words for the night.
Your heart was beating out of your chest when you put the mask on and stuffed the weapon into your belt. You hated it already as the mask limited your vision and smelled weird. You scrunched up your nose, trying to ignore the urge to throw up. And the fact you had a weapon didn’t feel much better either.
Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. Maybe you should have stayed home with your grandmother and looked after her. You quickly shook your head, knowing you couldn’t go back. You needed the safety of a group while you moved through the streets, needed the group to get inside of the building and to steal all the necessities for your grandmother - including the medicine.
A static sound filled the air and all talking ceased immediately. Everybody’s heads turned to the leader, who held up a laptop and grinned like a child the night before christmas.
“This is not a test.
This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge sanctioned by the Government. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorised for use during the Purge. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials of ranking 10 or higher have been granted immunity from the Purge and shall not be harmed. Commencing at the siren, any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., when the Purge concludes. Blessed be our New Founding Fathers and our country, a nation reborn.
May God be with you all.”
You felt your stomach churning uncomfortably at the emotionless voice saying the same words as every year.
The siren blared through the city and the sounds of machine guns and screams filled the air immediately.
“This is it! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”
You started to run, your body moving on autopilot as you followed the group out into the open. Your throat constricted almost painfully when you saw the first dead bodies littering the streets. Most of them were innocent victims and didn’t deserve to die.
Whenever guns were shot you flinched slightly, looking around in fear. Even though you moved in a large group, you didn’t feel safe.
Nobody should feel safe during this night.
But you knew the richer you were, the safer you felt. With money you could buy better safety systems, you lived in a safer area, you could even buy people to protect you if necessary.
Those who died during the purge were only the ones with no money or homes. Of course the rate of unemployment would be low with them being murdered.
You clenched your teeth when you saw more and more bodies on the ground the further your group moved. You swallowed your protests when you saw some of your group shoot random people that weren’t even attacking. You had to survive this night, you had to survive for your grandmother.
“Hurry up people, we’re close!”
You looked up, seeing the large building at the end of the street. Somewhere inside of this building was the medicine your grandmother needed so desperately.
A frown appeared on your face when you saw the burning cars around the building. It became even deeper when you saw the crashed windows and doors of the building, knowing it meant someone else forced their way inside.
“Split up!”
You looked around, seeing the group running into different directions. Of course there was a plan and smaller teams had to scout the inside of the building, but you hadn’t really listened and didn’t know where you were supposed to go. You didn’t really care though, especially now after you realised the people in this group weren’t really the good guys as well.
Ignoring everyone else, you ran around the building. You wanted to enter the building through the backdoor, having a feeling that the front only ended in unnecessary bloodshed.
You didn’t even round the corner when you heard machine guns and chaotic screams coming from inside of the building. You saw flashes from the shots in the otherwise dark area.
Your whole body tensed and it took everything within you to move forward. To move at all, actually. You were frozen in fear and every movement somewhat hurt. Your mind told you to get somewhere safe and not closer to certain death.
Dread filled your body as you hurried to the backdoor and sneaked inside. Even though every crime was allowed during this night, you tried to stay secretive. It wasn’t the best decision to draw attention towards you when everyone out here wanted to kill you on sight.
Maniacal laughter sounded through the hallways and you really wanted to turn on the spot and leave the building again. But you bit on your tongue and moved forward, further away from the backdoor. You felt your heartbeat in your throat and it didn’t help you at all whenever you stopped at a corner.
You had no idea where the medicine was stored and it became harder to navigate through the building with crazy bastards shooting at each other at every possible moment.
Suddenly a loud scream appeared behind you and came closer. When you turned around you saw someone running towards you wielding a machete over his head.
Your eyes widened and you automatically grabbed towards the weapon in your belt but it got caught and you couldn’t pull it out. You hastily tried to free the weapon but with every passing second the person came closer.
“Get down!”
You had no time to think but your body followed the order immediately and you duck down. You heard the bang of a gun followed by a dull sound. Hesitantly you looked back up again and saw the person with the machete lying on the ground, a puddle of blood slowly forming around them.
“You alright?”
Surprised you whipped back around, you had forgotten about the other person for a second. You were even more surprised when you saw him not wearing a mask or any other kind of anonymity.
“Are you alright?” He asked again and came closer, raising a cut eyebrow in question.
He had short, dark hair with two precise cuts near the temple, which seemed almost like it grew back after he shaved his head. He seemed stoic while he observed you and waited for your answer.
“Uh, yeah, thanks.”
He nodded and was about to turn around and leave you again when another man charged towards the both of you. He cursed underneath his breath and shot this one too but the man only stumbled a little and continued running.
“Fucking vest.” He shot more and more bullets at the man but even the mask seemed secured as a headshot didn’t stop him as well.
You grabbed the machete from the first guy and sprinted towards the new attacker. There was a thin gap between the mask and the secured bodysuit and it was nearly impossible to hit him with a bullet. You pulled your mask off and threw it towards the man, making him lean back as an attempt to dodge. With the head movement the gap widened and you were able to slam the machete into his neck.
The minute you hit him and the blade cut into his skin you let go of the machete again, staring at the man going down with gurgling sounds. He pulled the machete out and made it even worse for him, blood gushing out of the large wound.
“And here I was thinking you were helpless.”
You scoffed and stemmed one hand into your hip. “Wasn’t the mask sign enough for you that I belonged to a group?”
“The group that was absolutely helpless when it ran into this building and basically got killed the second it entered?”
“Oh.”
“You don’t sound too surprised about it”, he noted and crossed his arms in front of his chest, “and I’m pretty sure you’re not a real part of that group. Why are you out here?”
“I need medicine.”
His eyes roamed over your body, checking for any visible injuries or illnesses.
“For my grandmother.”
He nodded and slightly relaxed. Even a small smile played over his lips. “We should get going then.”
“Huh?”
He didn’t answer you and walked instead past you, shooting at the man on the ground out of spite, not even stopping or looking at him. “I know where you need to go.”
You couldn’t explain why but you followed him silently, trusting this man with your mission now. You didn’t even ask him why he wanted to help you; or if he even wanted to help.
“I’m Sungjin by the way.” He slowed down and walked next to you, seeming almost casually if it weren’t for the guns in his hands and his alerted gaze wandering through the hallways. Whenever he heard something, he immediately tensed and looked towards that direction.
You had the feeling Sungjin didn’t do this for the first time. He had experience with the purge and he had experience with being outside during the purge. You wondered what he usually did and if he trained for this night. He didn’t seem like the person for it and he definitely didn’t seem violent. Not counting the fact he just shot at two humans and killed one of them.
You quickly introduced yourself as well before the both of you got interrupted from a maniac once again.
Sungjin didn’t even bat an eye when he shot at the person and continued walking, ignoring the body that dropped to the ground.
“It’s not the first time you’re doing this, huh?”
He shrugged with his shoulders and shook his head. “No, sadly it’s not.”
You nodded, feeling this wasn’t the time to ask further. Instead both of you hurried several stories up until Sungjin led you into a room with a huge vault.
“Shit.” You stared at the vault, realising it wouldn’t be so easy to get the medicine you needed. “This might take some time.”
Sungjin checked the time on his watch. “Not enough to crack the code.”
“And we can’t use any explosives”, you sighed and rubbed over your forehead.
“Wait here, I’ll get what we need.”
You watched Sungjin leave the room again before you were even able to protest or say a word at all.
The time you waited for him felt like an eternity and the screams and gunshots made you even more anxious. Could you even allow yourself to just stay put and wait? What if Sungjin didn’t return and you just wasted your time?
Before you were able to completely freak out, Sungjin bursted into the room with heavy equipment, blood stains all over his clothes and face. “Ready?”
You stared at him with wide eyes and an open mouth. “What even..” You quickly shook your head and waved one hand dismissively. “I don’t even want to know.”
Instead you grabbed the equipment and started to cut through the lock on the vault while Sungjin made sure nobody would disturb you.
Half an hour later and with only one attack you made it through the lock and pushed the door of the vault open, revealing another room with dozens of shelves packed with different medicines.
“Yes”, you cheered quietly and hugged Sungjin, who stepped next to you, “we made it.”
He patted your back with a small smile before he followed you into the room, his gaze wandering over the shelves.
For a moment you watched him search for something specific until you remembered you had to look for something as well. You quickly walked along the shelves, mumbling the labels underneath your breath.
Once you found what you were searching for you opened your backpack and stuffed all of it inside. Satisfied with your gain you started to check the other things inside the room as well, taking anything you deemed helpful for the future.
After your backpack was full you turned back to Sungjin, seeing him holding a bottle with a transparent liquid inside of it. “You need medicine as well.”
Sungjin nodded. “It’s a prototype and not official so far but this stuff is supposed to heal cancer.” He sighed deeply and stuffed the bottle as well as the others from the shelf into his own backpack. “My best friend has cancer. Again. The therapy wasn’t successful and the cancer returned even stronger than before. This is his last chance.”
“Then we should get out of here alive.” You smiled gently and nodded towards the exit, ready to fight your way back out. “Only three more hours to survive.”
He chuckled and agreed with you, hurrying back out into the hallways. Sungjin motioned you to follow him quickly, guiding you out of the building with only a few encounters with other humans. Once on the street he looked around, not sure where to go next.
“This way”, you told him with a hushed voice and ran away from the building, staying within the shadows and on full alert. Without the protection of the group the streets were even more dangerous than the building.
“Watch where you step, there are a lot of traps. And make sure to stay close to the walls, there might be snipers on the roofs.”
“How do you know all that?” You asked and glanced over your shoulder for a second.
“It’s not the first purge I’m outside”, he answered and stopped you at one corner, “you already know that.” He glanced around to the open streets and nodded when everything was clear. “Where are we even going?”
“My place.”
Sungjin was stunned for a second before he laughed quietly. “I should take you at least on a date first.”
You smirked, forgetting the purge, the gunshots, the dead bodies and the danger around you for just a moment. “Isn’t this a date already?”
“Only if we steal some food on our way back.”
Younghyun watch Dahee walked away from him without waiting a reply from him.  He felt wronged for bringing Dowoon to her but as the same time it’s felt unfair to him as Dahee didn’t want to listen to their explanation at all. ——— “Overall, I’m satisfied with your project paper and final presentation on this topic, it’s well explained and detailed too.  I’m glad you get to work well together on this subject” With then, Younghyun and Dahee thanked their professor for the compliments and bid farewell as they exited the hall together. Dahee felt a throbbing pain in her head again as all she wants to do is go home and rest but Younghyun stop her from walking. “Dahee, wait" he grabbed her arm from behind, making the girl stop in her tracks “What?” Dahee hissed in annoyance, turning her heels to face with Younghyun as the throbbing keeps on pound in her head as someone knocking her head nonstop. “We need to talk.  Dowoon keep on loo-” “I don’t want to talk about that now” Dahee said as she massaging her temples to soothe her dizziness. “Then when? The problem won’t solve if you keeps on running, it won’t do anything good for you, Dowoon or....” Younghyun trails his words as Dahee waits for him to complete his sentence “or for both of us” Younghyun spoke up, hinting on their relationship status.  They just started to get along and knowing each other but things happened. “There’s no us when you broke our promise” With that, Dahee walked past him, slightly brushed their shoulders. Younghyun sighs in defeat upon hearing her words as his fingers runs through his soft brown locks in clueless but then he heard a small thud behind him. His eyes bulge in shocked as he saw Dahee collapse on the floor. “Yoon Dahee!!” Younghyun exclaimed as he runs to her. ———
“Dowoon, wait!” Younghyun tried to calm the maknae and prevent him from going to meet with his sister as the other members also tries to help.
“But my noona needs me” Dowoon whines feeling as if the members didn’t understand him at all
Younghyun looks at the youngest with empathy plastered on his face, arms guarding the boy from going out from the apartment—his mind trying to find suitable words to explain to him.
“I totally understand how worried you are right now. You had the right to worry but let her calm down first, okay? She might not be ready to meet you again. She’s been struggling so much" Younghyun carefully explained but the worried expression on Dowoon’s face won’t easily go away.
“That’s right Dowoon-ah. She might need some time to recovery from all this sudden news.” Sungjin who sitting quietly at the couch the whole time spokes up, earning sighs from the drummer upon hearing the leader’s words as Dowoon already had his running through his hair in frustration while pacing back and forth across the living room and stop his track as he thinks deeply while watching the busy roads across their apartment.
“How many days she will be in the hospital?" Dowoon’s deep voice echoed after couple of minutes he’s in silence.
“Taeyong said maybe two more days because the doctor needs her to be really destress from everything" Younghyun said, carefully eyeing the youngest expression and only soften when Dowoon finally calms down and sat between Jae and Wonpil at the couch.
“Have you tried to talk to her?” Jae, the eldest asked as he giving a bro pat on Dowoon
“Not even a chance at all. I don’t think I should push her anymore. Maybe I...” Younghyun trails his words, trying to make up his mind properly as he relief a defeat sighs.
“You what?” Wonpil couldn’t help but curiously asked him.
“Maybe I should stop looking for her after this” Younghyun confess, earning gasps from his members as they knew Younghyun really cares for Dahee and deeply in love with her. She is Younghyun’s world even though they just met for couples of month but the members knew Younghyun finally gets to be loved by someone he truly cares.
——— Dahee’s eyes felt heavy as she softly open her eyes—too bright to her liking and hissed in pain she felt a sharp on her hands, a drip tube to be exact taped on it. She tried to get up from the bed but then someone prevent her from doing so. “hey hey you should rest more” Taeyong’s voice echoed through her ears as he pushed her back down to the bed. "where am I?" Dahee asked, trying to recognize the faces near her which are Taeyong and Wendy, her closest friends. "In hospital you dummy.  You scared me when Youn—" Taeyong stopped Wendy eventually, feeling this isn't appropriate time to mention the name. "You collapse right after your presentation.  The doctor said you're exhausted and dehydrated.  Your stress level are also high.  Why aren't you telling us that you're stress? We were worried about you" Taeyong said, softly patting her head as he's giving his big doe eyes to her Dahee smiles weakly to both of them in response as she muttering small sorry with pouts visible on her lips.   "Thank god you're stable now.  Hey, eat your porridge.  Taeil made some for you when he heard about your condition.  Here, let me feed you" Wendy said, scooting closer next to Dahee, taking a bowl of porridge in her hand along with a spoon.  "Say ah, our little Dahee" Wendy tease, playing airplane with the spoon before feeding her. "I'm not a little girl, Seungwan-ah" Dahee whined, earning chuckles from them as Taeyong smiles brightly looking at the two girls infront him. 'Keep on smiling Dahee, it suits you well' Taeyong thought, hoping that Dahee would find her happiness soon. As they keep on talking with each other and Wendy keep on feeding her, Dahee couldn't help but to think hard about what happened before she collapsed—barely remember what happened. "How did I get here? Who brings me here?" Dahee sudden question makes Wendy and Taeyong flustered.  Isn't that they don't want to tell Dahee, but they scared that Dahee would fall sick again or even get angry at mention of Younghyun's name. "You know, some rand—" "It's Younghyun, am I right?" Dahee cut Wendy's word before she could finish her sentences.  Even though Dahee couldn't remember properly on his what happened, but she knew Younghyun at her side when she collapse at the hallway.
Wendy just nods her head in response as Taeyong throws his attention to the windows, try not to involve with Dahee’s business—letting her dealing with her own feelings.
Dahee couldn’t stop her tears from falling down as she felt horrible with herself, feeling useless and so selfish as Younghyun did nothing wrong to her but she keep on pushing Dowoon and blame Younghyun for it.  Dahee lowered her head as tears keep on streaming down her cheeks as hiccups followed.
Upon seeing Dahee cried so hard, Wendy rushed to her side, giving her hugs in hoping she would calm down.
“Oh honey, you gonna be alright, trust me okay?” Wendy assured her, fixing her strands of hair from Dahee’s face—taking a good look on the her face as she wipes off the tears from Dahee’s cheeks.
“I need to fix this, Wendy.  I can’t lose Dowoon again, or worse, losing Younghyun.” Dahee said after bawling her eyes out for couples of minutes , feeling determined, holding Wendy’s hands as she flashed her supporting smiles and feeling proud with her best friend.
Taeyong softly smiles “That’s our girl Yoon Dahee!!” His shouts echo through the room, making the girls lets out a soft chuckles.
Jealousy Hauntings
Tumblr media
Description: A new guy appears and Ghosty boy don like dat
Word Count: 982 words
Warnings: ghost!youngk, jealousy, angst, not-so-happy ghosty bud, Sungjin (hehehe)
Tagging: @septicrebel
Masterlist
The glares Younghyun was sending the utility boy were as clear as day - even if he was a ghost. He could see the strained smile on your face as you listened to the guy you’d hired to fix some newly discovered faulty wiring and install a WiFi network. The guy’s name was Sungjin, the gardener's son who had come by on occasion with his father before. He’d opened a utility company and the last time his father had come around he’d recommended him for the job. It was clear that you were aware of the glares and were even more concerned for the boy’s safety and him not blowing his cover.
After the easter incident, you’d laid a new set of rules. Or rather rule. There was only one after all.
Under no circumstance, unless I am dying or in grave danger, are you, Kang Younghyun, to ever show yourself or make yourself known to any human being or beings in this house is not me.
He was really kicking himself for agreeing to follow that rule. And if it were any other person he would’ve already broken it and scared that scrawny-looking idiot - who was most certainly staring at you the same way a starved dog looks at a piece of meat - out of his damn mind and this house. But it was you. He couldn’t do that and risk you getting mad at him…again.
“Do you live here alone?” the idiot - Sungjin - asked closing the fuse box in the living room. “It’s a rather big house to have all by yourself isn’t it?”
Why that little-
Your eyes sent him a menacing glare, a silent snarl aimed at him. Kang Younghyun may be a ghost - as dead as they come - but he was still terrified of you, well your rage.
“It's not much work to take care of,” you commented. “Nothing I can’t handle on my own.”
“Even tending to the grounds? That seems like a lot for one person to do. Does your boyfriend come to help?”
Boyfriend?!
Was that buffoon really going that route to shoot his shot? Was he really shooting his shot right in front of him?
“I’m single and I happen to be able to care for the grounds very easily in between my work schedule. Your father also does a great deal with the garden so that helps quite a bit.”
Did you really have to say that so blatantly? Why not just say your ‘boyfriend’ did come over to help and shoot him down, get rid of him once and for all?
“Oh, well in that case, can I take you out to dinner sometime? Only if you are comfortable of course.”
An audible crack came from the staircase. The wooden post now sported a noticeable crack. Younghyun was floating near the ceiling fuming with rage. How dare he?
“What was that?” he asked concerned as he looked at the wooden post. “How did-”
“It’s old. I’ve been meaning to fix that to prevent it from rotting and breaking. Old houses am I right?” you tried to gear the conversation away looking up and spotting Younghyun. He was really going to be in for it now. “I think I’ll take you up on that dinner offer.”
His - both of their - eyes bulged from their heads at your words. Sungjin’s in shock that you had agreed and Younghyun was in disbelief that you were getting back at him in such a cruel and evil manner.
“Does this Friday work?” you posed, a sweet smile on your face.
“I’ll make it work,” Sungjin replied without thinking before shaking his head. “Yes! I mean yes. It does. I’ll pick you up at…”
“Six?”
“Perfect. Um. That’s done by the way. If you see any more faulty wiring or are concerned about anything just call me and I come to check it out or I’ll send someone if I can’t.”
You nodded, walking him to the door and paying him before watching him practically skip to his van before driving away. After closing the door and turning around you came face to face with Younghyun.
“What was that?” you asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I could ask you the same thing,” he said copying your stance.
Stepping around him, you went into the living room checking the fuse box, all the switches newly labeled, and the WiFi router in the best place possible for the best internet connection no matter where you were in the house.
“Your acting like some entitled brat. A spoiled dog.”
Ouch.
“He’s the dog on the hunt!”
“Like you weren’t two months ago!”
Double ouch.
You sighed, closing your eyes as you sat on the couch before looking at him, “Younghyun, anything between us isn’t going to work. You know that. We’re in two different realms and planes of existence. I have my entire life ahead of me. I can’t just waste it way because you’ve gotten possessive.”
“But if he tries to take you away? Tries to make you leave?”
“I don’t even know him like that yet. And neither do you. Who’s to say it’ll even last more than a single date? What if I go and he turns out to be some weirdo…although considering my best friend at the moment is you, a ghost, I’d say I’m the weirdo.”
“Do you promise?” he asked softly floating before you.
“I promise. But you also have to promise to allow me to live my life as best as I can. Even if you don’t like it.”
He pouted nodding his head without a word, before sticking his hand out. You stuck yours out feeling the temperature drop as you ‘connected’ with his and sealed the deal.
“Now, what I need you to do is find some way to fix the wooden post that you destroyed.”
“It was an accident!”
DAY6 In A Long-Distance Relationship
Hi there! So sorry to hear that you’ve tested positive but I’m happy to hear that you have a good immune system and are in high spirits☺️ Not sure how bad your symptoms are but I hope you feel better soon regardless💕 I’m currently in a long distance relationship and it’s not bad but it’s not great right now so I was hoping I could request how each member of day6 would deal with a long distanced relationship? No worries if not, thanks anyway❤️
Tumblr media
that’s so sweet of you, thank you🥺  I’m so sorry about your relationship, and i hope it gets better!
also, i hope it’s okay that i did this bullet point style, cause that honestly worked so much better than how i wrote it the two first times lmao sorry
-
Sungjin
a cutie
would not really like the whole long distance thing, but what can you do
he would make sure you knew how important communication was to him
“a healthy relationship starts with good communication.”
you couldn’t agree more
if he ever felt uneasy about who you were hanging out with, and how much you hung out with them- instead of letting it boil in the pit of his stomach, he would tell you.
same went for you. if you ever felt he was suddenly talking a tad too much about a certain someone, you would be honest with him
“Babe, I hate to be that person, but that Joey you’re hanging out with him? He gets me kind of weird feeling, like something’s off.” He would say over the phone.
You were waiting for him to comment on it, you had been for a few weeks.
“I know, sweetie. But we’re working on the project together, and we thought it would be easier if we knew each other beforehand, but I completely understand where you’re coming from. Would it make you feel better if we FaceTime’d while me and him were hanging out sometime? That way you’d get to meet him.”
You could hear the sigh of relief he let out when you weren’t annoyed with him.
“I’d love that. Thank you.”
Tumblr media
Jae
also very much a cutie
much like Sungjin, he thought communication was important
that didn’t necessarily mean he was very good at it
he had a tendency to come off as waaaaay too jealous, even though that wouldn’t be the case
or, well- he WOULD be jealous, but not to the extent he presented it
“So who’s that guy I keep seeing on your snapchat stories?”
it was one of your late night FaceTime calls, and Jae had been dying to ask, so when he saw the opportunity, he took it.
“Jaaaaeeee.” You would drag out, getting kind of tired of the same question.
“What, as your boyfriend, I am concerned for who you hang out with just in case they’re a bad influence or something. As your boyfriend, who happens to be your boyfriend, aka. the boy you’re dating- I’m just curious. You know, as your boyfriend.”
You sighed and looked at his face through the screen.
“The boy you keep seeing on my story, is a girl. Her name is Jenna and she is really sweet. I hang out with her and her girlfriend all the time.” You would explain.
“Ohh, no yeah you’ve talked about her, sorry.” He would instantly apologize.
“It’s okay.”
A bit of silence.
“So Jenna likes girls, huh? Should I, you boyfriend-” you cut him off.
“JAE!” You cackled.
“I’M KIDDING!”
Tumblr media
Young K
you already know i’m gonna call all of them cuties, so there really isn’t a need for its own bullet point.
a cutie
aNYWAYS
He wouldn’t have a issue with the long distance thing, especially since you were still in the same timezone
in fact, he was so proud of you for managing to leave everything behind and pursue your dreams
he encouraged you to go longer and further than you ever had before- to find your passion :,)
Jealousy was also never an issue, as both of you were too in-love to even thing about other people
it was actually almost a problem according to his bandmates
“Did you change the world today?” He would ask with humor laced in his tone as he spoke to the screen that showed your sleepy face.
“Almost. I’m sure I’ll get it right tomorrow.” You would smile back, forever grateful for the support.
“That’s my girl.”
“I love you.”
“Love you too.”
Tumblr media
Wonpil
im-
a cutie :)
but this boy
woooooaaahhh- this boy
he would visit you so often you would at times forget it was long distance??
every holiday or long weekend- catch him on the next plane
if he had more than two continuous days off- plane ticket: booked.
it was borderline ridiculous at this point, but you absolutely loved it.
“Hey babe? You know how you’re always coming here and stuff?”
It was your daily call, you were walking through the grocery store, and he was on a couch somewhere.
“I actually wanted to talk to you about that. I have two days off next week, but I have to be at this thing early the next morning, so I don’t think I can come. I’m so sorry.” He was genuinely sorry about it, and hoped you wouldn’t be too upset about it.
“No worries, cause I just finished my class-project. I have like a week and a half off. Maybe I could come to you? And just chill at your place when you’re at work?” You beamed as you grabbed a carton of milk.
“No way! Really? Holy, I can’t wait!!” He almost screamed, making you giggle.
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
Tumblr media
Dowoon
do i even need to say it?????? yeah i do
a cUTIE
okay, so Dowoon would be a bit different from the other boys, as he would be terrified of you forgetting about him
he wasn’t scared that you would find someone else, he was scared that you would realize he was good riddance.
he obviously never told you this, so in your eyes, y’all were in a great place
little did you know that if you ever went longer than like fifteen hours without texting him, it would send him spiraling
she doesn’t love me anymore
she knows she’s too good for me
etc etc etc
after a while tho, after Dowoon had rambled to his bandmates about it, they had taken the liberty of telling you how Dowoon felt.
your heart ached for the boy, and you made it your mission to make sure he felt appreciated and loved.
before you know it, your relationship was flourishing and blossoming more than ever
almost as if you had fallen in love all over again
“you know, i used to be scared you’d forget about me.”
“no way- whaaaat? really? pft, i would never have guessed-”
“the boys told you already, didn’t they?”
“lil’ bit.”
Tumblr media
I hope you liked it!!!
Every day, I lived like I was dead
It was another bland, boring day. As usual, Jae was keeping to himself. He didn’t like to stand out, yet somehow he always did. He always had his earphones in and sat in the middle of the class, because if he sat at the front he’d stand out and look like a teacher’s pet and if he sat at the back he’d be near all the loud class clowns. He also hoped sitting in the middle of class would help hide the fact that he wasn’t paying attention and instead was writing songs in his book and drawing little doodles. Every lunch and recess he would either go to one of the study rooms to have some peace and quiet to work on his music, or all the way to the back of the library to make some more sample beats. Jae was so so tired of the same routine every day and hating school, hating his boring life. He couldn’t wait to graduate and just leave and never come back, never have to see any of these people again and never do this routine ever again. He wasn’t happy, only when he was in his bedroom singing, playing guitar and making his own songs, but even that wasn’t cutting it for him lately. He longed to feel some form of content, to feel like he had something to live for. To feel free.
But you became the reason for me to wake up
What Jae never would have expected was that today, would not be just another bland & boring day, because you were about to come tumbling into his life at full speed out of the blue. Quite literally. Jae was walking down the hallway to go to the study room during his free period and you, being late to your class were running down the hallway from the other direction. Just as Jae was about to turn the corner you also turned the corner and ran smack bang into him, hard. You rebounded off his chest and as you fell back, your arms instinctively tried to grab onto him to stop yourself from falling but instead you just ripped his headphones out and yanked them down with you. As you fell on your ass your books and laptop all fell on the ground along with his. You had never been so embarrassed in your life. You were apologising so profusely as you scrambled around trying to pick everything out and separate both his and yours stuff.
“I’m so so sorry, I’m the biggest dumbass in the world! I should know better than to run in the hallways when anyone could turn the corner at any moment-” You rambled on, more to yourself than to Jae.
“I promise you I’m fine, you just winded me a little but I’m fine, don’t stress” He said, rather monotone. He bent down next to you to help you pick everything up. He picked up both your laptops, scanning them to see if there were any marks or scratches and opening them up to check the screens. As he handed you back your laptop with an awkward smile, you gently took it from him as you looked up at him with your puppy dog eyes. You tried to gather your things together under your arm and get up at the same time, clearly struggling. Once Jae processed what was happening he awkwardly cleared his throat and reluctantly held out his hand, and you looked up at him once again and grabbed his hand. He almost jumped at the feeling of your soft hand against his, especially when you smiled at him and looked at him with your big, sparkly eyes.
“Thank you” you almost mumbled as you shyly looked away, realising how cute he actually is and wondering how you’ve never really noticed this boy before. Jae only responds with a nod and a tiny, almost not noticeable smile.
“Also, I love the 1975 too” You smiled brightly.
“W-what?” Jae stuttered, realising how nervous he actually is right now.
“Your earphones, that’s the 1975, right?” You pointed to the earphones dangling out of his hoodie.
“Oh! Right. Yeah, they’re pretty sick” He realised the song playing can be heard from outside his earphones. He already hates himself, “pretty sick?”, who the hell says that when trying to socialise with a cute person?
But you thought it was adorable.
You made me want to open my eyes
From that moment on, he was noticed and did stand out. But he didn’t mind, because it was you. Every time you saw Jae in the hallways or in the library, you gave him that bright eye smile of yours and a big, excited wave. Even if you saw him more than once in a day, it was always just as bright of a smile and as excited a wave as the first time you saw him that day. And every time, Jae’s heart did a little jump, and tiny little butterflies erupted in his stomach. He would actually smile back and give you a little wave. You also realised you had one class with him, it was biology, you only had it about 3 times a week but it didn’t matter. When you were waiting outside that classroom the day after meeting Jae and saw him waiting on the other side of the hall from the room, you felt that pang in your heart. You swallowed your nervousness and went over and spoke to him. You started doing this before every biology class, as your friends always showed up late. You spoke to him about your favourite bands and music and realised you had a lot of other things in common. You both actually really loved science and Marvel movies amongst other things. Jae would’ve never expected you to be into the same music he is, but he loved it, especially when you recommended new bands for him to listen to. Once your friends showed up and class actually started though, you sat with them instead. Not because you didn’t want to sit next to Jae, you did, you really did. Just because you still got really low key nervous around Jae, and you liked to get work done in class and worked better with your close friends. You still snuck glances at Jae in class though, so that argument that you told yourself wasn’t really valid. Look at you getting so distracted because of a boy. You were quite popular, in the sense that everyone knew you and you knew everyone and would consider yourself ‘friends’ with most people in your year, but you really only actively hung out with and spent your time at school with your three close friends. In comparison to Jae though, you were very popular, he saw you as one of the most popular people in the school. Way out of his league in his eyes. He expected you to stop caring about him or noticing him in a couple of weeks at most.
I used to never wait for tomorrow
But you didn’t. You kept waving and smiling at him in the hallways and listening to his song recommendations and updating him about your thoughts outside the biology classroom. Jae actually found himself being excited to go to school and see you, even for just a short few seconds. He couldn’t get you out of his head. He hated feeling like this when he didn’t even know you that much, but at the same time he felt like he really did. He wished so badly that he wasn’t so awkward and closed off so that he could get the courage to properly ask you out or even just for your number or just any social media contact. However, he also still thought you were way of his league and it broke his heart because he knew a socially awkward loner like him could never be with a naturally bright, loveable, perfect, friendly person like you. He accepted that he’d forever be stuck having short 5 minute conversations before class and stealing glances at you during biology. But even those short encounters were enough to keep him going and being excited for tomorrow. Weekends were low key hell and he just let out his thoughts and daydreams through his music, and by regretting not asking for your number and telling himself he’ll ask you for it for sure on Monday. He never does but, hey he’s working on it. Little did he know, that you were also doing the same; practicing what you were going to say and do in the mirror and how you were going to confidently approach him. You couldn’t wait any longer, you had to do it before you went crazy with thoughts and memories of him in your head as you waited for the weekend to be over. Properly conversing with him only 3 times a week wasn’t enough for you.
But you became the reason for me to take one more step
That following Monday, you didn’t have biology but you passed by his locker in the morning before homeroom like you always do, but today you weren’t just going to give a wave and a bright, happy ‘good morning’, you were going to put your practice over the weekend to good use. You snuck up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped a little before turning around, confused expression quickly turning into a soft smile.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” He asked, clearing his throat.
“Well, we don’t have bio today so I probably won’t get a chance to talk to you other than now” You said softly, linking your hands behind your back shyly.
“Oh… I see” He looked down at his feet, screaming at himself in his head to say something, anything.
“Yeah…” You follow his gaze down to your feet, too. Your cheeks were going red as you tried to get what you wanted to say out of your throat.
“Anyways, what I wanted to ask you about was,” You were twiddling your thumbs behind your back as you looked up at him, his gaze shot back up at you “The 1975 concert next week. I bought tickets for me and my friend back when they first announced the dates, but she can’t go anymore so… Would you… Want to go with me?”. You quietly said, but Jae still heard you. His head shot up and he gazed down at you with his head tilted and eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“You… want to go, with me?” He questioned.
“Well, I did just ask you, didn’t I? ” You slapped his arm playfully. “No, I know you did I just… can’t believe it if I’m being honest” Jae pushed his glasses up his nose bridge with his finger as he blinks at you in disbelief.
“What? Why?” You giggled, scrunching your face up at him.
“Because, you have a lot of other friends you could go with. Why on earth would you pick me?” He mumbles.
“Maybe because I don’t want to go with them, I want to go with you. Besides, nobody else really likes their music as much me, other than you. Now stop being a dummy, okay? Please come, you don’t have to pay me back!” You dragged out that last part, as if trying to convince him.
“Oh, really? I’m definitely coming then, only because it’s for free and nothing else” He smiles mischeviously. You slapped his arm again but even harder, to which he grabbed it with an ‘ow’ as he pouted, pretending to be hurt. You just rolled your eyes.
“Anyways, I’m gonna need your number or something so I can send you all the deets and stuff! Since I won’t have class with you until Wednesday” You handed him your phone as you rambled on, trying to hide the fact that your heart was about to beat out of your chest with nerves. As soon as you said that, Jae’s heart skipped about 10 beats and he felt that intense pang in his stomach. He grabbed your phone with a nervous smile as he entered his number, secretly hating that you beat him to asking for your number. He wasn’t surprised though, you were super confident and fearless in his eyes. However, he decided he could still make a bold move, for his contact name he put himself as ‘the funniest, most handsome boy in the entire school’ with the heart-eyed emoji and all the different coloured hearts. He smiled to himself as he handed it back to you. Once you read the name you just looked up at him with a look of disappointment.
“Really? You’re so cringey” You scrunched up your nose. He gasped and crossed his arms.
“I’m just joking you dummy” You poked his chest. He laughed and patted your head. Your heart tingled with happiness. He was finally opening up to you.
“You should get going, you have to be at homeroom in 5 minutes” He said as he checked his watch, even though he didn’t want you to go at all.
“You’re right, well see you soon!” You said excitedly, your arms instinctively holding themselves out for a hug, forgetting that you weren’t with one of your close friends. You felt a huge rush of embarrassment rushing through your stomach to your cheeks, Jae didn’t seem like the affectionate type at all, especially as he was only now really opening up to you. However, as you you were putting your arms down and stepping away, Jae slid one arm around your shoulder and patted your back gently. The rush of embarrassment suddenly turned into that feeling Jae always gave you that you couldn’t quite explain, a mixture of excitement, nervousness and… like? You know, the feeling when you like someone. You could only describe it as ‘like’. Jae only hugged you for a couple of seconds but to you, it felt like so much longer. After he pulled away he smiled nervously, a blush very visibly on his face. You nodded at him as you started to walk backwards down the hall to your classroom.
“I’ll text you!” You yelled and waved excitedly with that bright smile. As soon as Jae turned back to his locker, he let out the biggest sigh he’s ever sighed and banged his head against the shelf. A lot just happened in the span of 3 minutes.
You held out your hand to me
It was the night of the concert and it was amazing. You and Jae had dinner before going to the venue and during the concert, you ended up crying when they sang your favourite songs and you just got so overwhelmed and Jae’s heart was bouncing around in his chest. He put his arm around you and started swaying with you as you cried into his shoulder. You smacked him a few times because he was laughing, but he wasn’t laughing at you or at the fact you were crying, he just felt so happy and thought it was so cute as to why you were crying. Once the concert was done you walked out into the cold night air, shivering as you slid your jacket back on. You closed your eyes took a deep breathe, loving the smell of the fresh, cold air. When you opened your eyes and saw how beautiful the sky looked, you felt your heart do that happy tingle again; the sky was so clear and full of stars and the moon visible and bright. That sight together with the city lights around you gave you such comfort and happiness, especially when you looked over next to you to see Jae looking up the stars too, the moon casting such a beautiful glow on his face. Jae glanced over at you and you quickly looked away, looking out to the road in front of you.
“Thanks for inviting me, the show was so amazing and I had a lot of fun” Jae said, walking over closer to you.
“You’re welcome. They mean a lot to me and I know you like them a lot too so of course I wanted to experience seeing my favourite band ever with someone who also means a lot to m-, someone who loves them a lot too!” You caught yourself, hoping he didn’t understand what you almost blurted out.
“It was especially fun seeing you cry” Jae smiled mischeviously. You ran up to him with your arms in fists ready to fight him. He laughed and just held out his hand, holding your head in place as he kept you at arms length from him, your punches unable to reach him.
“Let me go!! Let me fight you!!” You screamed, trying your best to push forward against his arm, but to no use. Once you gave up and were panting for breath, he let his arm go.
“Seriously, though. I wasn’t making fun of you for crying, it was really precious to see how much they mean to you and how much that song means to you. I’m honestly honoured that you’d let little old me experience something so special to you, with you” Jae smiled softly, the most genuine smile you’d seen from him yet. You didn’t know how to respond, just smiled back at him. It wasn’t even that big of a smile, but it was still so bright. Jae could’ve sworn his heart stopped beating in this moment, looking down into your eyes as you looked up into his, the stars reflecting in them. It was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen, you were already so stunning to him but in this moment you looked ethereal. It felt like it was just you two in that moment, and if he wasn’t such a coward he would’ve kissed you.
“So, how are you getting home?” Jae cleared his throat, knowing that was a stupid question to ask since you both got the train here and would be taking it home together.
“If I’m being honest, I don’t want to go home just yet”, You emphasised “and it is a Friday”. Jae looked at you, confused. You held out your hand to him. “Let’s go on an adventure!” You exclaimed. Pulling him with you as you ran across the street.
Just your smile alone, makes me breathe
After that night, you two stayed up into the AM every night messaging each other, talking about anything and everything. You hung out on weekends and even after school sometimes; so much so,  you two became the talk of the school. Jae was standing out, but he didn’t hate it as much as he thought he did, or would. Everyone was confused as to how and why you became friends with somebody they never knew about before, but you didn’t care. You introduced him to your close friends, and even encouraged him to hang out with you all during recess and lunch. You didn’t force him too, but eventually he decided it wouldn’t be so bad. He actually had fun, mainly because he was around you but he realised that not everyone was as bad as he thought they were, but of course your friends are going to be good people, as if someone as bright and good as you would hang around bad people. He still struggled to open up to them and feel confident socialising, but you helped him and they found him funny and nice to be around even with him not trying or just rambling on to cover up his nervousness. He liked it the most when it was just you two on weekends though, as expected. Even when it was something as boring as sitting in the park by the pond and watching the fish or going grocery shopping, as long as he was with you he was having the time of his life. He’d never felt this way before or experienced feeling this way about someone and it felt so scary, exciting and fun all at once. He’d just have to look at you smiling as you told a story that made you happy, a stupid joke that made you laugh or even as you ate your favourite ice cream, and he could feel his heart soar.
Only your love makes the frozen me jump up again
A month later and you finally became official, Jae finally worked up the courage to properly ask you out. He was a rambling, nervous mess as you sat next to each other on the hill overlooking the city; your favourite spot. You rolled your eyes at him as he rambled on trying to confess to you. You cupped his face and placed a quick, soft kiss on his lips. He froze in complete shock, staring at you wide-eyed with cheeks as red as beetroots. You giggled, forehead pressed against his as you leaned in again. Jae closed his eyes as finally processed what was happening and wrapped his arms around your waist, gently moving his lips against yours, he was on cloud nine. You were finally his, and he was finally yours. It didn’t matter if he still thought you were out of his league, you liked him for him and you wanted him and nobody else and you made sure he was certain of that. When you both finally pulled away, he looked concerned.
“What’s wrong?” You asked softly, stroking his cheeks with your thumbs.
“I’ve never really kissed anyone before and now I’m worrying that I’m bad” He blinked hard, looking like a sad puppy.
“Aw baby, it’s okay. I can help you” You shyly bit your lip, cheeks turning pink. His eyes went ever wider if that was even possible. He muttered an ‘okay’ before taking your hand and intertwining his fingers with yours as he softly kissed your lips again.
Because of you I’m
From that moment on, there was never a bland, boring day for Jae ever again. He was finally happy and had something to live for, his music and you. He finally had friends who he genuinely liked and who liked him and it was all thanks to you helping him open up and realise the world isn’t as bad as he thinks. You just had to hold his hand and smile up at him with your bright eyes and he felt safe and content. He felt free.
 Better, better, better baby
