Oh my GOD okay so there's this guy who comes into the store semi-regularly. Always orders the same thing. Mid 50s looking. And OVERLY friendly, to the point where it creeps me out. He acts like he knows me outside of here, calling me stuff like "sweetheart" and whatever, To The Point where newer employees have confused him for an uncle or dad of mine, & I have to correct them like No I Have Never Seen This Man Outside Of Work
Today he came in right at open. I was out in the lobby to turn the menus on after I unlocked the door, & this dude fucking SHOULDER-CHECKED ME. In a way that would be friendly if it weren't for the fact that I DONT FUCKING KNOW HIM. It threw me Off bc I don't fucking like being touched by Most People, so like. Lmfao.
Then later he was like "you know I don't think I've ever gotten your name before" & I. I contemplated giving a fake name but he's a Regular and he's a "friendly" one so I could see him mentioning me to a different employee when I'm not there & them being confused about who that was. & him learning I gave him a fake name bc of that.
I don't want the chance of him knowing bc it rly is the "Just grin and bear it" kind of situation. He's never done anything genuinely untoward or tried flirting with me, he's just so uncomfortably FRIENDLY & I hate it. Ultimately I just try to get his drink done as quickly as possible so he'll leave, but today definitely threw me off.

Didn’t Ask For This Pt 7 (Roommate!JK x OC)
A/N: It’s your local slacker here! Get ready, because this chapter is probably the best yet. I feel like I say that with every post, but I honestly feel that way! Anyway, on with the show! ;p
Summary: “I didn’t know you hated me so much,” he spoke as he grabbed my wrist and once again turned me around to face him, “and quite honestly, I don’t think I’ve done anything horrible enough for you to hate me to the degree that you do.” “You say that like the hate isn’t mutual,” I remarked as he shook his head. There was a bitter smile on his face as he took a deep breath, “I think you are quite honestly one of the worst human beings I’ve had to come in contact with.”

”Hey Tae,” I smiled as I walked in the door. Jungkook walked in behind me as Taehyung glanced up at the two of us. He seemed to be a little more tense than normal, and I felt worry bubble in my stomach.
I walked over to him and sat down on the couch next to him. He tried to give me a smile, but I could tell that it was forced.
“Is everything okay?” I asked as Taehyung took a deep breath. I looked over at Jungkook as he also seemed to grow concerned at his friends sad state.
“Well, work was just plain horrible,” Taehyung bitterly laughed as I frowned and grabbed his hand to comfort him, “it’s my own fault, really. I kinda deserved it.”
“I doubt that very seriously,” I squeezed his hand, “Just tell us what happened.”
Taehyung walked in the door to his workplace as he felt nerves bubble in his stomach. He was working a shift with Jennie and Hana.
Hana was one of the sweetest girls that he had ever met. She was an old high school acquaintance, and when he started his job at the coffee shop, she was very nice to teach him all the ins and outs of the store. He already knew what he needed to brew the coffees, so she spent more time giving him tips on how to deal with certain coworkers.
When she started going over what to do and not do around Jennie, the atmosphere between them seemed to shift. Taehyung became more aware of the fact that he was working with Jennie than he was of the words Hana was saying to him.
When he met up with Jennie, she was quick to start flirting with him a decent bit. She was very eager to have a conversation with him, which in hindsight, Taehyung was pretty sure that she just wanted back in Jungkook’s life. It would explain why she seemed so excited that the two of them were not only still friends, but best friends.
Because of being blinded by Jennie and her sudden interest in him, Hana has become a second thought. Taehyung wasn’t even sure if he’d actually properly had a conversation with her after Jennie and him began flirting.
He was determined to not only apologize to the poor girl, but to ask her out on a date. He was terrified that it wasn’t going to go well, but he wasn’t going to flake out of it.
It wasn’t long before he spotted Hana standing in the back near one of their training computers. She was probably tasked with assigning the other new employees their training modules online, as well as running a few of them through a few demonstrations with their machines.
“Hey, Hana,” Taehyung greeted with a small smile as she spun around with a surprised look on her face. He didn’t fail to notice the hint of red in her cheeks over him speaking to her. “I don’t know how to best start this, but I just wanted to apologize to you.”
She slightly frowned and glanced behind him before looking in his eyes again.
“I’ve been pretty rude to you, and I have no excuse for it. I would love to take you out for dinner tonight if you’re free.”
She opened her mouth with a shocked expression on her face. She seemed almost upset over his words, and Taehyung felt himself grow increasingly nervous.
“I’m sorry, Taehyung,” she swallowed and slightly grimaced, “I’ve actually got a date tonight, already. He was the class president in high school if you remember him… Kim Namjoon?”
Taehyung raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth, but nothing came out. Namjoon? That guy? Now that Taehyung thought about it, he didn’t have a clue what that man was up to, anymore. Hoseok has been the Vice President if their class senior year, and that was Taehyung’s only tie to the guy.
“How is he?” Taehyung tried to change the subject, and Hana didn’t fail to notice why.
“He’s good. I haven’t seen him since high school, but I ran into him at the Apple Store. He works there now. He’s actually the one who fixed my phone.” Hana slightly blushed in embarrassment as Taehyung took a deep breath.
“He’s working at Apple? Just as a tech guy or…?”
“Pretty sure he’s the manager there,” Hana looked down. Taehyung bit his tongue as he just nodded and took a deep breath.
“That’s really awesome for him. Tell him Taehyung said hi when you see him tonight.”
Taehyung wasted no time turning around and almost rushing away. Hana reached out and called out his name to stop him from rushing off, but he was out of the back room before her voice left her throat.
I took a deep breath and wrapped an arm around Taehyung’s shoulders. He tried to seem like he was okay, but I could see through him easily.
“She’s probably making out with him at his unnecessarily large house that he has downtown,” Taehyung sad bitterly as I ran my fingers through his hair to try and relax him.
“Taehyung, stop,” I spoke softly, “so what if he might have more money than you? Plus, there are plenty of girls out there. You didn’t even mention this girl to me when you were in school.”
Taehyung stayed quiet at that fact.
“She’s not the only person out there. There are so many beautiful girls that are just waiting for Kim Taehyung to fall for them.”
Taehyung looked over at me and smiled sadly. He grabbed my hand that was playing with his hair and pulled it down to rest on his shoulder.
“I love you, Ari,” he squeezed my hand as I leaned in and placed a kiss on his forehead.
“I love you, too,” I responded after placing the kiss. We pulled away from each other afterward just for us to sit in silence.
“I talked to Hoseok about you,” Taehyung spoke up as both Jungkook and I seemed to simultaneously stiffen.
“What’d he say?” I was dying to look Jungkook’s way, but I was not about to freak Taehyung out. He was already upset as it is.
“He said that he was going to text you when he got home tonight. He wants to go on a real date with you,” Taehyung smiled excitedly as I tried to mimic his excitement. It’d be my first real date…
But something in my gut made me feel guilty. What did I have to feel guilty about? This really sweet, really smart guy wants to go on a real date with me!
I gave in to my urges as I looked Jungkook’s way. I couldn’t help but feel my heart being squeezed as I realized that Jungkook was indifferently scrolling through his phone. He didn’t seem to care.
...and who as I kidding? Why did I care what he was thinking or feeling? We hate each other…
I glanced at my phone, but I still didn’t have any messages. I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous about what Taehyung said. Shouldn’t he be home by now?
“Have you gotten a text?” Taehyung asked as I looked up with slightly wide eyes. I was staring at my phone a little too long…
“Yeah!” I lied as I tried to glance at Jungkook discreetly, “I didn’t think anything of it, but he sent one a bit ago. It was from an unknown number, so I didn’t open the message.”
“I’m so happy for you,” Taehyung ruffled my hair as I pouted and moved away from his hand.
“Thanks, now I’m going to my room to change. Don’t bother me.”
“Wasn’t planning on it,” Jungkook mumbled as Taehyung just laughed. I swallowed and glared his way before rushing off to my room.
::
It was weird having a shift without seeing Chaeyoung or Jungkook, but it was actually kind of nice. I was able to focus more on getting the job done in a timely manner instead of being distracted.
I was working the same shift as Yoongi, but he was working concessions while I was, like usual, cleaning.
It wasn’t a very busy day, to my relief, making the shift an easy one. It didn’t take me more than five minutes to clean each theater.
I was about to mark today as a very uneventful day, but when my eyes met the eyes of my old friend, Soomin, my eyes widened. A million emotions flowed within me as a huge smile appeared on her face. She rushed up to me with excitement as I smiled and tried to not freak out on the outside.
“Ari!! It’s been so long since I’ve seen you!” She opened her arms up for a hug as I responded by leaning in and wrapped my arms around her, “How have you been?”
“Pretty good,” I nodded as we pulled away from the hug, “What about you? Are you having fun at college?”
“Are you kidding?” Soomin leaned forward and her eyes grew wide with excitement, “College is the best! I have never had this many friends at once! Not to mention that I have several hot guys that are hitting on me all at once.”
“Wow,” I swallowed as I raised my eyebrows, “Sounds like you’ve been living it up!”
“Hell yeah!” She glanced around and spotted Yoongi behind one of the registers, “I see Yoongi still works here, too. Any luck?”
I shook my head and shrugged, “No. We’ve talked about it, but we’re just not right for each other.”
Soomin pursed her lips in disappointment as she seemed to be racking her brain for another topic to catch up on.
“How’s Taehyung?” she smiled as I felt relieved at her topic choice. As much as I was dying to ask, I was terrified to talk about Jungkook with her.
“He’s great! He’s actually home for the summer,” I informed as Soomin’s expression very subtly shifted to a grimace.
“You wanna know who else is home? Jeon Jungkook. I ran into him while getting groceries. He didn’t even seem to remember me,” she crossed her arms across her chest, “The guy’s an ass, but he’s so damn hot. It’s like he knows I could never hate him…”
“Whoa,” I held up a hand to stop her, “Jungkook… this guy ruined your high school experience and you don’t hate him?”
“Maybe he did,” Soomin nodded and slightly shrugged, “But I kinda see things the way he did now that I’m the one breaking the hearts.”
“That’s not a good thing,” I shook my head and creased my eyebrows. “You don’t want to be like him.”
“But if I am, he’s more likely to give me another chance, right?” Soomin winked as I gave her an incredulous look.
“Have you gone mad? No! He’s not going to have any interest in you just because you might act like he used to.” I shook my head and put a hand on my forehead. This girl was making my head hurt.
“I know there are other guys out there, but none of them have any competition with Jungkook. I mean, if you had slept with him like I did, you would understand that you can’t not live with someone as delicious as him.”
I felt disgust wash over me as I just looked at my old friend with a sad expression. I was relieved at first to see that she was having fun at college, but this was too much. Jungkook was not worth this… and he certainly won’t look her way like she wants him to…
“Soomin, you’re talking crazy here,” I shook my head, “Jungkook is the bane of your existence!” I swallowed as Soomin just laughed and looked away from me.
“I love you, Ari,” she put a hand on my shoulder as I looked down at it, “but you’ll just never understand. Jungkook is just… on another level. I love to love him.”
“Okay,” I laughed and drew a line through the air with my hand, “Screw that. Screw all of this.”
Soomin retracted her hand from me as I tried to calm myself down. Her eyes grew wide as she realized just how… angry her words were making me. “Ari…”
“This guy is literally the worst. He’s selfish and possessive, and he will never admit when he’s wrong even when he clearly is,” I rambled on as Soomin uncomfortably looked behind me. She opened her mouth to say something, but I cut her off.
“No, listen to me,” I glared as she just swallowed and closed her mouth again. Her eyes didn’t meet mine again, but I continued anyway, “This guy ruined you for nearly three years of your life, and he doesn’t even remember what you did! He only sees things in the interest of himself, and himself alone.”
“A-Ari,” she spoke as I sighed and looked in the direction of her eyes. My whole being stiffened when my eyes locked onto the eyes of the man who is just been insulting. “You didn’t mention that he works here.”
I swallowed and felt literal fear in my gut as Jungkook’s eyes pierced into mine. “I know you hate me, but you don’t have to lie about me to girls who are interested.”
I clenched my fist as my nails painfully dug into the skin on my palm. I tried not to back down as I looked at him, but his eyes scared me. He’s never looked at me like that before. “I’m trying to save her from being used by you again.”
“Who said I’d use her?” Jungkook raised an eyebrow and took a few steps closer in my direction. I took a few steps back, but when my back hit the drink counter behind me, I had nowhere to run. “You sure like to jump to conclusions.”
“Don’t you dare,” I whispered at him with a glare on my face. A sadistic smirk leaked into his features as he took a step uncomfortably close to me.
“You can’t tell me what to do,” he eyed Soomin for a couple seconds before looking back down to me.
“You called her a crazy bitch,” I whispered desperately feeling my whole being shake, “You publically humiliated her because of how much you hated her.”
“I humiliated her because she didn’t sleep with just me.”
My eyes widened as I felt rage burn in my chest. I wanted to hit him and curse him, but we were in the middle of the lobby. I was not about to cause people to complain about disgruntled employees arguing while they were supposed to be working.
“Why the hell didn’t you tell me this a week ago?” I felt my voice waver as I tried to stay calm.
“You wanna know who else slept with her?” Jungkook’s sadistic smile was making me increasingly upset. I didn’t like this smile…
I barely even had the brain capacity to realize that his cologne was filling my every sense. He definitely put on two times the amount that he normally does.
“Quite honestly, no,” I spoke as I tried to push the thought of his cologne out of my head. He’d smelled like this when he first got up in my personal space. Why was it affecting me so much right now?
“You wanna tell her?” Jungkook glanced over at Soomin as I looked at her with the same torn and confused look. “If not, I will.”
“Jungkook, just go away,” I slightly pleaded, but he wasn’t having it. He was not just pissed, he was furious.
“I want you to guess,” he looked down at my hands as they started to fidget nervously, “it’s someone my age…”
“Stop,” I shook my head as Jungkook ran his fingers through his hair.
“He’s a little taller than me,” Jungkook continued before placing a hand on the counter behind me.
“Jungkook, this isn’t funny,” I pleaded as he gripped the counter until his knuckles turned white.
“He has the same family name as you. What a coincidence, right?”
“You’re such an asshole,” I whispered as I shoved him away from me. I looked across the lobby to see Yoongi looking my way, and I didn’t hesitate to rush his way. I sent one more glance Soomin’s way as I felt my heart rip out of my chest.
“I didn’t get to tell you who it was, Ari!” Jungkook called out, pulling a lot of attention to the two of us. I was just thankful that there weren’t a lot of people in the lobby at this moment.
“Go to hell,” I spoke as I felt tears about to break through. No, I was not about to cry in front of this man. I was not about to go through him faking concern just to get me to depend on him. I was starting to see through his games.
“So if you have a right to hate me so much for this, it’s only fair to show this other guy just as much hate.”
I was sick of being manipulated by this douchebag.
I opened the door to the back room and spotted Yoongi immediately. I rushed his way, and he let me crash into him, giving him a hug that I really needed.
“Why is life so unfair?” I spoke with a weak voice, “Th-there’s no way that my best friend slept with… with…”
“You don’t have to say it,” Yoongi spoke into my hair, “I’m sure she didn’t do it to hurt you.”
“That explains why she never talked to me about it,” I continued talking into his shirt and I squeezed him to me, “she didn’t want me finding out that she turned around and also slept with her own best friend’s brother!”
Yoongi stayed quiet at my words as I took a deep breath. Some tears leaked from my eyes and I let them soak into his shirt. I needed to calm down before Jungkook decided to follow me back here to shout more insensitive accusations at me.
I lightly pulled away from Yoongi as he continued to look at me. He grabbed one of my hands and ran his thumb against the back of my hand. “I’m sorry, Ari…”
“God, I hate him,” I shook my head and violently wiped away my tears, “I hate that bastard. He’s toying with me and he’s having so much fun doing it.”
Yoongi stayed silent as I moved my hand out of his, “I keep thinking that we can get along and actually be civil with one another, but something always happens to make everything turn to hell.”
“Ari…” Yoongi started, but I wasn’t done.
“I don’t want to be in love with him.”
The room grew incredibly silent at my words as the both of us stiffened. Neither of us could believe what I had just admitted. I was having trouble deciphering what exactly I meant when I said that.
“No, I’m not…” I shook my head and laughed bitterly, “I’m not in love with that guy… I’m in love with the idea of him.”
“That idea?” Yoongi sounded more confused than ever, “When has that guy showed you any redeeming qualities? He just seems like a huge ass to me.”
“When he needs to be, he’s really… soft. He says the sweetest things that make me feel good inside,” I explained, “but those moments are miniscule to the amount of times that he’s pissed me off.”
“So minuscule that I didn’t know those moments existed,” Yoongi commented as I stiffened. The door to the back room was being pushed open, and I hurried to sniff and wipe all my tears away. It wouldn’t take a genius to notice that I had cried a little just by looking at my eyes, but Jungkook didn’t seem to notice.
He stayed silent and walked over to the computer to clock in. I swallowed and looked at Yoongi as Yoongi opened his mouth to say something.
“I didn’t know you were working today.”
Jungkook looked up at the two of us as he eyed me for a little longer, “I’m covering for Jaemi. She called in sick.”
I felt my dread grow as I realize that for the last two hours of my shift, I have to work on cleaning theaters with this guy.
“Great,” I nodded as I spoke through my teeth. It was starting to feel like he did this on purpose. “We’ll just split the theaters or something.”
“Nah.”
Yoongi and I both raised our eyebrows at Jungkook as I dared myself to open my mouth.
“Excuse me? I’m the one in charge, so I make the decisions.” I swallowed and felt my eyes narrow him, “I don’t think we’ll get much done with the two of us working together.”
“How do you know that I’ll actually clean the theaters if you aren’t there to supervise me? If the theaters don’t get clean, it’ll be all on you since, you know, you’re the one in charge.”
...what a manipulative…
“C’mon man, she obviously doesn’t want to deal with you today. Cut her some slack,” Yoongi stood up for me as Jungkook looked at him. He didn’t say anything for several seconds before he took a deep breath and pulled his phone out.
“Fine. I’ll just go ask for my own theater schedule,” he spoke as he turned around and walked out of the room. I took a deep breath and swallowed, trying to calm myself down.
“Thank you,” I smiled Yoongi’s way, but the smile was weak and pathetic.
“No problem,” he nodded, “but I should get back to work. Seokjin has been on my back recently about slacking off.”
“Sounds about right,” a real laugh left my throat as my smile slowly filled out into a real one, “promise me that you’ll wait for me before you go home? You’re scheduled to get off around the same time as me.”
“I’ll wait, don’t worry.”
With that, I made my way out of the back room, only to come face to face with the girl who I used to call my best friend.
“Ari…” she swallowed as I looked away from her, “I’m sorry I never told you… We had gotten drunk at someone’s house and made a huge mistake.”
“But why… why did Jungkook announce it to the whole school?” I felt myself growing increasingly curious for the answer.
“He walked in on Taehyung and I… he got really pissed because I had slept with him the night before. He started yelling and called me a bitch… I don’t remember much else since I was drunk, but I know I made him upset and angry.”
I felt my eyebrows furrow, “He was mad that his one night stand slept with his best friend. Am I right on that?”
Soomin nodded and started playing with the hem on her shirt, “I tried to apologize to him, but he was so pissed that he didn’t listen. He shouted our secret out to the lunchroom because he was mad at not just me. He was also mad at Taehyung.”
I felt my brain having a hard time comprehending why Jungkook would be so mad over something like that. I was justified on why I was upset because that was my brother for goodness sake, but…
“Did Jungkook like you?” I bluntly asked as Soomin bit her lip. She took a deep breath and her eyebrows furrowed.
“I’m not sure… I know that he was the best sex I’ve ever had, but I’m not sure if he feels the same way,” she answered honestly as I took a few deep breaths. “I… told him that I didn’t want a relationship so that he would sleep with me, and it didn’t take me long to cave and tell him that I did want to date him.”
“Obviously he rejected me,” she continued before wrapping her arms around herself, “and I got so upset that I told myself that I was going to sleep with someone else. I didn’t seek Taehyung out, but when I spotted him, I thought…” she swallowed as I looked down and put a hand on my forehead, “I’m really sorry, Ari.”
“Setting all this crap aside,” I took a deep breath and moved my hand to the back of my neck, “why would you want to date him still?”
“I don’t know,” she shook her head and looked in the direction of the office. Jungkook was walking out of it, and I felt nauseous when our eyes locked on to one another’s. “There’s just something about him that has me coming back to him.”
Jungkook continued to look at me as I could have sworn I saw his eyes soften. I thought that he was going to walk back over to us, but when he turned around and walked toward the theaters, I felt my heart drop.
“Ari…” Soomin called as I snapped my attention back on her, “If you can’t forgive me after finding out about this, I understand… but I just want you to know that I’m sorry.”
I felt words coming out of my mouth before I had any chance to stop them, “Don’t touch Jungkook.”
Her eyebrows furrowed as I felt my face heat up. There was no use in trying to cover up my blunder, “I’ll forgive you if you move on from Jungkook.”
Soomin didn’t seem to know what to say to that as she narrowed her eyes into mine. She looked like she was thinking as she pursed her lips.
“Now… why would you care about Jungkook and I?” she continued to keep the same serious expressions on her face as I tried my hardest to not get flustered.
“I just don’t want him messing with you again. He’s done enough damage to the both of us,” I spoke with a steady voice. I felt my expression harden as Soomin seemed to believe me, “He’s not worth it.”
Soomin slowly nodded and looked off in the direction that Jungkook had just gone in. “I guess that’s fair… but I can’t promise you anything.”
I felt my heart drop at her words as she started to move away from me, “But I have to go. I promised to meet a guy somewhere nearby so I thought I’d come to say hi to you…”
I took a deep breath as my eyebrows creased. I hated to end things off on this note with her, but I wasn’t about to hold her up, “Okay… I’ll see you.”
She just nodded and walked out the front doors a couple seconds later. I felt nerves swallow me whole as I thought about the whole situation. I wanted more than anything to change my feelings for Jungkook. I’d prefer Yoongi any day…
Jungkook and I had barely seen each other for the entirety of the two hours he’d been here, and it was finally time for me to head out. I was eager to get home just so that I could curl up in my room and watch anything to get my mine off of this.
I had been finishing my last theater when Jungkook walked in to help out. We’d split the theaters up, but Jungkook got done with his before I got done with mine.
We didn’t say anything to each other as we finished up our job and started walking down the steps in the theater.
“Don’t mention any of that to Taehyung,” Jungkook broke the silence with a soft voice. His tone told me that he wasn’t trying to start an argument.
“Why not?” I asked, trying to not snap at him. I was still upset about how… harshly he put everything.
“I wasn’t supposed to tell you,” he confessed as I stopped walking and looked his way. I leaned against the wall behind me as Jungkook stopped walking and turned around to face me.
“Then why did you?” I let go of my broom and dustpan, setting them against the wall behind me.
Jungkook took a deep breath and looked up at the ceiling in distress, “I was sick of you constantly arguing with me over that instance. It didn’t used to bother me back when Taehyung originally told me to never tell you, but it was just getting ridiculous.”
I swallowed and looked down.
“You’ve been hating me so much all this time, and how does it feel to finally know the truth? Your own brother is who this should be directed at,” Jungkook spoke, his voice growing more and more upset.
“Jungkook, just because you weren’t in the wrong for this one instance doesn’t make you a better person in my eyes,” I shook my head as I tried my best to glare at him, “You’ve been excessively rude at me, and quite frankly, you can be really hurtful.”
Jungkook dropped his broom and dust pan and slowly walked in my direction, “You say that like you’ve never said anything hurtful to me or about me before. What was that stuff you were saying to Soomin not even three hours ago?”
“You’re still a playboy, Jungkook,” I laughed, but it was humourless, “You just wanted my best friend for sex, and when she gave it to you, you were done with her.”
“How do you even know that I still do shit like that?” Jungkook slightly glared as he moved suffocatingly close to me again. His feet were only a foot away from me as I swallowed and leaned further into the wall, “If you get to call me a playboy, then does that give me the right to call you a loner?”
“What proof do you have that you don’t just sleep with random girls anymore? You’re off at college for God’s sake! All people do is have sex and complain about high tuition.” I shot back as I tried to not focus on the loner comment.
Jungkook stayed quiet for a couple seconds as his eyes continued to pierce mine. I felt my nerves increase by tenfold as Jungkook took a small step closer to me. His scent was filling all my senses, and my heart was going crazy.
“I guess I don’t have proof, but why do I need to prove anything to you?” he took a deep breath, his voice growing a little softer. “Besides, the only thing I cared about was telling you the truth. Wouldn’t it piss you off if someone went around bad mouthing you because of a misunderstanding?”
“I don’t think I misunderstood you,” I glared his way. I needed to stay strong and not fall for any of his advances. I couldn’t let him win this, “I still have the same opinion of you.”
“Oh, really?” he raised an eyebrow as I nodded and reached out to push him away from me. My hand landed on his chest and began pushing him away. He started to let me push him away, but in one swift motion, he grabbed my hand and pinned it against the wall.
My eyes widened as Jungkook’s grip tightened around my wrist. His free hand reached up and touched my cheek as it took all of my willpower to reach up and remove his hand from me. I looked away from him and once more tried to shove him off me, but he wasn’t having it.
His hand that had caressed my cheek suddenly grabbed my free hand, moving both hands to be pinned beside my head. His body was almost pressed completely against mine as I swallowed and dared myself to look back into his eyes.
“Tell me that you still feel the same way about me.” he mumbled as I felt my heart trying to launch out of my chest, “I want you to spit in my face right now and tell me you hate me.”
I swallowed as he just looked in my eyes. The longer the silence went on, the bigger the smirk on his face grew.
“Cat got your tongue?” he whispered as I took a deep breath. His cologne was the last straw as I swallowed and tried to pull out of his hold.
“I-I hate you,” I spoke in a weak voice as Jungkook just chuckled.
“I’m sure you do,” he was being such a cocky bastard… I wanted more than anything for me to gain super strength to smack the smug look off his face.
His nose brushed against mine as our eyes locked again. His eyes were almost predatory as I felt my nerves spike.
I was not about to become another one of those girls.
“I do,” I spoke, my voice growing in confidence, “I honestly, genuinely hate you.”
Jungkook wasn’t buying it, but he let go of my wrists. He didn’t move away from me as his hands once again moved to caress my face. I felt my heart jump as he held my face with one hand, running his hand through my hair with the other.
This scene felt reminiscent of when we almost kissed yesterday…
Jungkook didn’t say anything as he leaned into me, his lips practically ghosting over mine. His eyes didn’t leave mine as I felt by breaths become shaky. I wasn’t going to let this happen... I wasn’t going to…
“I have to be honest,” Jungkook spoke lowly as his soft and low voice rang in my ears. I didn’t know he could sound so… sexy…
“When I first moved in, I knew you’d be fun to mess with,” he continued as I felt myself growing impatient, “I thought that it would be fun to fight with you since you’re such a child.”
“Jungkook,” I almost whispered, but when his bottom lip ghosted over my top lip, I felt my voice leave me.
“The more I fight with you…” his smirk turned into a genuine smile as I moved my hands to the front of his shirt. He was taking too long. “...the more I think you’re really damn hot.”
Without another second to spare, his lips engulfed mine in a rough manner. He leaned his whole body into me as I pulled him completely against me. I even felt a whimper come from my mouth as Jungkook tilted his head, applying more pressure to the kiss. He pushed me further into the wall, his hands trailing all down my body. I heard a low moan come from his throat as I violently grabbed the collar of his shirt.
I felt myself become slightly clumsy when Jungkook licked my bottom lip, seemingly asking for entrance to my mouth. I’d only briefly kissed one other boy before, and this was completely new territory for me.
“Are you scared of my tongue or something?” Jungkook taunted as I pulled his mouth back onto mine. He let a low growl erupt in his throat as I opened my mouth, allowing him the access that he had asked for before. I felt nerves bubble in my chest as he twirled his tongue around mine, exploring my mouth with his tongue better than I ever had.
His hands that were running up and down my torso were now rooted on my hips as I felt him violently grip at them. He pulled my hips toward his as he leaned into me so far that I started to have to lean back. He smirked against my mouth as I moved my hands into his hair, roughly pulling at his roots.
“Dear God,” Jungkook moaned into me as I swallowed and let a small moan out, myself. His mouth started trailing down my neck as I closed my eyes, running my hands through his soft hair.
“You’re so,” I took a deep breath to hold back from being a moaning mess, “damn annoying…”
“Is that your way of telling me to stop?” Jungkook asked, but he didn’t stop kissing my neck. His tongue even began running along my skin as I felt myself melt into him.
“No,” I simply whined as Jungkook smirked into me. His tongue trialed all the way back up my jaw, and he wasted no time connecting our lips again. I felt my eagerness grow as I daringly wrapped one of my legs around his waist. At my movement, Jungkook pressed himself into me, one of his hands trailing it’s way down to my rear.
“Jungkook-” I felt my face heat up at how desperate I sounded. I felt so embarrassed on how turned on I had gotten, and we were supposed to be working. “Jungkook we’ll get caught if we keep this up.”
“So?” he mumbled against my lips as he captured them yet again. He continued to move his hips into mine as I put my leg back down on the ground.
“K-Kook,” I managed to say through the kiss as he sighed and pulled away from me, “Yoongi might come looking for me if I don’t go clock out in the next minute or two…”
Jungkook took a deep breath and swallowed, pulling away from me. His arms were shaking and he ran his fingers through his hair. I felt my mood shift once he stepped so far away that I couldn’t even smell his cologne anymore…
I was afraid to say anything because what was I even supposed to say after that? I didn’t want to make any good or bad assumptions on what exactly it all meant, and I was embarrassed to think about what would have happened if Jungkook had done this while at home…
I swallowed and shook my head to snap out of it as Jungkook looked my way again.
“I should go,” I whispered and pointed toward the exit, and Jungkook just nodded and waved me off. “I-I’ll see you at home.”
“Yeah,” Jungkook cleared his throat as I noticed his face flush, “See ya’.”

Common Grounds ch2
No special notes this time. Just, uh...have another chapter.
Read it on AO3
or read it after the cut
On your way to the coffeehouse the next day, you wondered if you would see Stretch again. You smiled at the brightly lit sign, remembering how he’d used the name of the place in a pun when trying to placate the old woman yesterday.
Common Grounds was a terrible name, and you would stand by that statement until the day you died. Sure, it was a clever pun, but what kind of coffeehouse wanted to advertise that their wares were anything but amazing and satisfying? People didn’t go to a coffeehouse for common, run-of-the-mill coffee; they went to get something delicious they couldn’t make easily at home or get from a gas station for a fraction of the price.
It was true that you could usually get your drink at the gas station down the road. You’d been doing that for years before a friend of yours had urged you to try the coffeehouse. Theirs tasted so much better and was actually worth the extra cost, which kept you coming back.
Not to mention you had a punch card that got you a free coffee every tenth purchase.
The parking lot was packed when you pulled in, and you couldn’t help but wonder if it was because Stretch was in and the masses wanted to see him perform. You scowled at the thought and got out of your car, huddling into your coat for the short walk to the door.
Inside, you were almost surprised by the amount of people there. Sure, there’d been a lot of cars, but most of them had to have carpooled, because the place was packed.
Some were sitting at tables, some standing around by the wall, even some hanging around the counters, but it was clear that the majority of people in the building were outright staring at Stretch as he worked.
He didn’t look very good today. He looked so tired. His sockets had noticeably dark circles under them and, while you had nothing to judge by, you could almost swear that his grin looked fake like he was doing his best to keep it plastered there.
What the hell? He wasn’t the first monster to get a public job. He wasn’t even the first skeleton to do that. You’d taken a few classes from a very sweet yet stern skeleton professor, and he was a joy to work with.
From the way people were reacting to Stretch, one would think he was the first monster anyone had actually seen. It was disgusting.
Instead of waiting in line, you pushed your way up to the counter where Emily, another of the baristas, was currently making a drink.
“Hey, Em, where’s Todd?”
Todd was the manager, and you really wanted to talk to him about how Stretch was being treated.
“Probably out back smoking. Everything okay?”
You didn’t want to say anything out loud, so you just jerked your head in the direction of all the people gawking. She nodded, and you went out to see if you could find Todd.
You found him outside by the dumpster. He turned to you and smiled. He was a nice man, certainly seemed to put his business over people most of the time, but when it came down to it you knew he did care.
“Hey, Todd,” you called out, huddling in your coat.
Todd raised his half-smoked cigarette in greeting. “What’s up, kiddo?”
“Hey, I’ve got a question for you.”
His smile faded. “Is it about my new employee?”
His gruff, almost protective-sounding tone was a good sign.
“Only sort of. I’m actually more concerned about the crowds watching him like he’s some kind of circus attraction.”
Todd sighed, his stance relaxing. “Yeah, he only started on Monday and it seems like half of Ebott is here every day to see him. Don’t get me wrong, sales are skyrocketing, but he doesn’t deserve that. I’m hoping it’ll fade away after people get used to him.”
You rolled your eyes. “People have been used to monsters being around for well over a year now, Todd. Please tell me you’re planning to do something other than just wait it out. You’re right, he doesn’t deserve that. Nobody deserves that.”
He took a heady puff of his cigarette, the tip burning bright red. His breath exhaled in a cloud of smoke and steam as he spoke.
“What would you have me do? Tell people they can’t come into my store to get coffee?”
“Well, I mean, you could ask the monster embassy for help? I’m sure they had to deal with this a lot when monsters were first getting jobs out here. Or, maybe you could not worry too much about losing business and tell people they can’t come in if they’re going to treat your employees like they belong in a freak show.”
Someone clearing their throat made both you and Todd turn around. Stretch was standing behind you in an oversized orange hoodie. His skull seemed flushed, but whether it was from the cold or what he’d heard, you didn’t know.
“Hey, Stretch,” Todd called out. “Break time?”
“heh...yeah. i can, uh, go smoke somewhere else?” He gestured behind him and took a step back.
“No, stay,” you said hurriedly. “It’s no bother at all.”
Just then, Todd dropped his cigarette butt and smashed it with the toe of his shoe. “It’s time I get back in there. I’ll see you both later.” He bent to pick up the smashed butt and tossed it into the dumpster before heading back in through the side door.
You sighed and turned to Stretch just he lit up a cigarette. As he exhaled the smoke, you realized that you had half expected it to come through his ribs or something.
“you don’t think i should be gawked at, huh?” he asked, something oddly sharp in his voice.
You looked up at him and shook your head. “No, I don’t think anyone should.”
“hmm.” He took another drag, and you watched closely to see where the smoke went. “maybe you should stop then.”
You blinked and realized he was right. You had just been staring at him as if you had any right whatsoever to knowledge of how his body worked.
With a deep sigh, you closed your eyes and put a hand over them. “I am so sorry! Jesus, what the hell is wrong with me?”
“curiosity is a deadly disease, y’know.”
You groaned and put your hand down, determined not to stare this time. “Yeah, but that was really rude of me. I am sorry.”
Stretch waved a bony hand at you. “don’t worry ‘bout it, kid. but hey, seriously?”
You nodded, waiting to see what he had to say.
“don’t get me fired. please? i might’ve applied out of manic boredom, but i kinda like it here. i mean, i like having something to do, y’know? some way to help out.”
“I wasn’t trying to get you fired,” you gasped, horrified. “I wanted to help. I can’t imagine how awful it is to have people watching you like that all the time, like you’re some kind of performing monkey.”
He nodded, taking another drag off his cigarette. “no, you probably can’t. you’re not the only one who sees it, though. amy and em, they watch out for me.”
That was good to know. Amy and Emily had both been baristas there for as long as you’d been getting your coffee there and were both as sweet as could be. They were best friends, both married to good men, mothers of two children each, and worked at the coffee shop to supplement their household income.
There were a few other baristas, of course, but most of them wanted a job while they went to college and then moved on after they’d finished their degree. You had to wonder what Stretch’s story was.
It probably wasn’t appropriate to ask yet.
“I’m glad they do,” you said with a nod. “Anyway, I need to get some coffee and go study. It was nice talking to you.”
Stretch nodded and waved at you with the hand holding his cigarette.
You went back inside and waited in line. By the time you made it up to the register, Stretch was back inside. He was helping someone else, and you smiled at Em as she asked if you wanted your regular. You nodded and handed her your punch card.
“Hey, can’t beat that,” she said happily as she punched out the last hole. “Free coffee, for the win. I’ll have that right up.”
You nodded happily and went to stand near the counter. When one of the other patrons held up their phone like they were trying to take a picture or record Stretch just doing his job, you slid down a little bit to be right in their path and smiled like you were their intended target all along. They scowled at you and tried to move, but you just moved with them.
Eventually, they gave up and left. Either they hadn’t ordered any coffee or they’d only wanted something for the chance to get video of a skeleton making it. Either way, you were proud of yourself for stopping at least one gawker.
Your name was called then, and you thanked Em for your coffee before heading back to your car. One way or another, you’d made it your mission to get people to leave Stretch alone to do his job. Yeah, it was really cool that a monster was working there, but that didn’t mean people had to show up just to shove a camera in his face. Or behind his back.
You sucked in a deep breath and decided that you would talk with him again tomorrow. You’d ask him how he felt about you tossing yourself into the situation. If he was cool with it, then you’d help. If he wanted you to butt out and just leave him alone, that you’d do that.
You found yourself hoping that he’d give you a chance.

Chapter 163: Miss Missing You
Rogers compared the photos of the symbol carved into the victim side by side with that of the drawing of the sketch book that had been in his possession for many years. The disappearance of young Eloise Gardener had been a case that had plagued him since his very early days on the force. He just wished he knew what the symbol meant and why is was suddenly popping up on their victim. No matter why though, he couldn't shake the feeling that the murder was somehow connected to the Eloise Gardener case. He sighed and noticed Tilly talking with Weaver, before leaving the station. He grabbed the sketchbook and followed her out, before calling to her.
"Tilly...is it?" he asked, as she turned to him and nodded curiously.
"I'm Detective Rogers...do you think I can ask you a few questions?" he asked. She shrugged.
"How do you know Weaver?" he asked curiously.
"It's not easy on the streets. I get information for Weaver and then he sees that I eat," she replied. He frowned at that. He didn't like to think of any kid on the streets, though he knew it was very real and serious problem.
"Well, if you answer a couple of questions I have...I can see that lunch is in the deal," he offered. She eyed him with scrutiny for a moment.
"I eat marmalade sandwiches from the deli around the block," she agreed. He smiled and showed her the sketch of the symbol.
"Years ago...there was a girl that went missing by the name of Eloise Gardener. There was speculation that she was a runaway and since you're a street kid, I was wondering if you'd ever heard of someone by that name?" he asked. She shook her head.
"I don't know that name...but I can ask around. I have seen this before though," Tilly replied. Rogers looked at her.
"You've seen this symbol before?" he asked. She nodded.
"I can show you," she replied, as she took his hand and proceeded to lead him off to a destination.

Today was the day. The moment Jacinda's boss left for the day, leaving the restaurant in the hands of his capable employees, Sabine moved in and placed the sign outside the restaurant, offering her beignets. The usual lunch crowd filed in and word of the delicious fare being offered spread quickly through the lunch hour. As Henry arrived that afternoon, he witnessed the booming business they were doing.
"Wow...I don't think I've ever seen it this busy," Henry commented, as he stepped up the counter.
"It's Sabine's famous beignets. Victoria raised our rent, but we're fighting back," Jacinda said. He smiled.
"Good for you...I'll take an order," he said, as he handed over some cash and in return, she handed him a paper bag with the treats inside.
"Thanks...you know, I'm probably going to be at Roni's later. And...I was wondering if you'd like to have a drink?" he stammered. She smiled.
"Uh...yeah I can text you when I get out of here," she agreed. He grinned.
"Great…" he said, as he stepped aside for the next customer, just David and Mary stopped in with Bobby.
"Hey…" Jacinda said, waving to them.
"Hey...we were walking by and saw the crowd. What's going on?" Mary asked.
"We're selling Sabine's famous beignets. Victoria thinks she can raise our rent and force us out...but we're not going to let her win," Jacinda replied. Mary smiled and squeezed her hand.
"Good for you…" Mary said.
"We'll take a few orders," David added, as he floated her some cash and then took Bobby to find a seat out on the patio of the restaurant since it was a nice day.
"You two seem cozy," Jacinda mentioned slyly. Mary smiled back, just as slyly.
"We are very cozy," she gushed. The other woman smiled.
"I'm happy for you," she said.
"Thanks...but did I see Henry in here minute ago?" Mary inquired and Jacinda looked down shyly.
"Yeah...we're having a drink later," she admitted. Mary grinned.
"That's so good...maybe you two will get cozy too," she said, giving her a wink, before she took their order and went to join David and Bobby.
Unfortunately, only moments later, flames were shooting out of the back of the restaurant, as a kitchen fire broke out. David was quick to act, as he ushered his family and everyone on the patio across the street.
"Be careful!" Mary called to him. He nodded, as he went to make sure everyone got out, including Jacinda and Sabine, who at least had managed to save the money they had made. But it was clear the restaurant was going to be a total loss
"I can't believe this…" Jacinda lamented.
"Hey...we made more than enough to pay the rent," Sabine said, looking on the bright side.
"But what about next month? I have no job now!" she exclaimed and shook her head.
"I should have never let you talk me into this," she said in anger. Sabine looked hurt by that and was quiet then, as the firemen attempted to put the flames out.
"Jacinda...I'm so sorry," Mary said.
"What am I going to do without a job? I'll never get Lucy back now," she lamented.
"Don't lose hope...we'll help you figure this out," Mary encouraged. But Jacinda shook her head.
"There isn't much to hope for anything if I don't have Lucy," she responded, as she walked away. Mary put a hand on her heart, as David returned.
"The fire department has it under control, but it's a total loss," he said, as he noticed her expression.
"Hey...we'll figure out a way to help Jacinda," he promised. She nodded, as her phone chimed.
"It's Roni...she wants to see us," Mary said, as they left the scene and headed for the bar with their son in tow.
~*~
Rogers looked at the structure with weariness, as Tilly slid the door open on the shed.
"What is this place?" he asked.
"My home," she answered and he sighed. This was certainly no place for a person, let alone a child to be living. He looked around, seeing various personal touches that indicated that Tilly lived there and had for quite some time. He saw all kinds of drawings on her walls, including the symbol in Eloise's sketchbook.
"Tilly...why do you have this symbol?" he asked.
"Don't you know?" she asked.
"No...I'm afraid I don't," he replied.
"It wards off evil...or that's what I was always told," she answered.
"Can you remember who told you that? Who taught you how to draw this symbol?" he asked urgently.
"I...I don't remember. It was a long time ago...I think," she muttered. He sighed.
"But I'll still ask around about Eloise," she offered. He nodded and smiled softly at her.
"Thank you Tilly. Let's go get you that sandwich," he said. She smiled and followed him.

The Enchanted Forest 3
Storybrooke year 2023 - approximately three days after the curse was cast
The portal opened and three people stepped through. They were dressed formally and their clothing definitely signified royalty, especially the two women.
"We made it…" Anna said, as they trekked along the forest path, toward Tiana's castle, which could be seen in the distance.
"Yeah...we're late though, thanks to that weasel from Wesselton," Kristoff commented.
"Yes, but at least we know that the Duke will no longer be causing us problems from inside his nice little prison cell," Elsa reminded.
"Yeah...just wait until Leo finds out he missed all the fun. He would have loved to scare the you know what out of the Duke," Kristoff laughed, as he was reminded of another visit.
"Oh that time he confronted the Duke on his last visit...I thought the old weasel was going to pee himself," he continued. Elsa rolled her eyes.
"I think he did...he really has that intimidating thing down. Kinda sexy, huh Elsa?" Anna teased her sister, whose cheeks colored a bit.
"It's the lightning...it does a lot of the intimidating, like my ice. But yes...it's quite...yes," she stammered shyly, as they came upon the castle and entered the courtyard. It was in shambles and there wasn't a soul around. There was damage to the castle as well and a sinking feeling settled in Elsa's stomach.
"What the hell happened here?" Kristoff questioned.
"It's deserted…" Anna commented, as they ventured further into castle gardens. There was remnants of what looked like a celebration or party, but most of it was scattered and destroyed. Elsa gingerly picked up a stuffed unicorn and recognized it, as she brushed off the dirt.
"Leo bought this in the market a few days before he left...for Lucy," she uttered.
"You...you don't think they're all…" Anna said, clutching her husband's arm.
"Dead?" he muttered, though Elsa heard.
"N...no, they can't be!" she cried, as she ran into the castle.
"Leo!" she called frantically.
"Elsa…" a female voice called weakly. The Queen hurried through the atrium and found Emma against a wall, looking paler than she had ever seen.
"Emma!" she cried.
"Kristoff...Anna...I found Emma!" she called, as the two hurried and with Kristoff's help, they lifted Emma into a chair in the common room.
"What happened...are you ill?" Elsa asked.
"In a way...though I should be dead, so I guess I'm doing better than expected," Emma replied weakly.
"If you should be dead...then why aren't you?" Kristoff asked, earning an elbow in the ribs from his wife.
"Rude…" she chided. He shrugged.
"What? It's a valid question," he retorted. She smiled weakly at their banter.
"It's a long story, of which I'll tell you when I can. But suffice to say...there's been another curse," she said weakly.
"Well...guess that explains why everyone is gone. Except you though," he replied.
"So...everyone was cursed back to Storybrooke?" Anna asked in confusion. But Emma shook her head.
"No...not Storybrooke this time, though we need to get back there and tell Robin and Belle. They stayed behind this time," Emma replied.
"Okay...but you're in no condition to go anywhere," Elsa said.
"It's okay...I just need to get to a place without magic. My heart has been poisoned," Emma explained.
"By who?" Elsa asked.
"Her name is Mother Gothel," Emma replied.
"So is this Mother Gothel the one that cast the curse?" Kristoff asked.
"No...my parents did that," Emma replied.
"I'm so confused...why would they cast another curse? And how?" Anna asked.
"Didn't they need a heart to do that the first time?" Elsa asked. Emma nodded.
"Yes...but apparently, once you've cast the dark curse once, the only thing you need to do it again is blood. They were trying to save me," Emma answered. Realization dawned in Elsa's eyes.
"They were trying to take you somewhere without magic so the poison wouldn't affect you," the Queen surmised. Emma nodded.
"The curse is exactly what Gothel wanted though. She poisoned me to make them do it and then at the last minute, she put a barrier around me to exclude me from the curse," she explained.
"No Savior...no breaking the curse," Kristoff commented.
"Exactly," Emma confirmed. Elsa looked at the tears in her eyes.
"Emma...do they know you were being left behind?" Elsa asked. She nodded.
"The last thing I saw before the curse took them was my entire family crying for me and trying to get through the barrier," she answered.
"Then they think…" Anna started to say, before trailing off.
"Yeah...even if they manage to get their memories back, they'll think I'm dead," Emma answered bluntly.
"Any those in Storybrooke have no idea there was another curse?" Kristoff asked. Emma shook her head.
"It's only been three days and I have no idea where this curse took them. We need to get there. Belle might know how to figure it out," she replied.
"But Storybrooke isn't going to help your condition," Kristoff reminded.
"Once we're there, all you have to do is get me over the town line. Then we can figure all this out," Emma said. Elsa nodded, as they helped her up. Anna took out the bean and used it, creating a vertical, golden portal before them.
"Storybrooke...here we come," she said, as they walked through the portal...

Regina made her way up the elevator of Belfry Towers, intending to confront Victoria. As she found her way to the floor where Victoria's office was, she spied her making her way through a rarely used corridor, until she heard a voice behind her.
"What are you doing?" Ivy questioned. Regina jumped and spun around, just as Victoria boarded the freight elevator.
"Following your bitch of a mother. Why exactly is she using the freight elevator?" Regina questioned, as she crossed her arms over her chest. Ivy smirked.
"Follow me," she offered. Regina raised an eyebrow.
"And I'm supposed to trust you?" she questioned.
"We both hate my mother. Trust me...it's in the best interest for both of us to stop her," Ivy answered. Regina didn't believe a word she said, but followed. No matter the potential danger, she was confronting Belfry.
~*~
Victoria's heels clicked on the floor, as she slowly approached the slowly spinning vent fan.
"Hiding in the shadows is a little pathetic, even for you Gothel," she called, as the witch slithered from those shadows and looked at Victoria with a smug expression.
"Something has changed...I can feel it," she said.
"Your notions are of little concern to me. There is only one thing that matters…" Victoria retorted, as she placed a hand on Anastasia's coffin.
"Bringing back your daughter requires something you do not have though. And if the changes I'm feeling are true...then you'll not be able to destroy young Bobby Nolan's belief," Gothel hissed.
"Clayton failed to keep a firm hand on the boy. He's too concerned with his little museum and collecting dusty junk to do his job properly," Victoria responded.
"Yes...the truest loves are awake. The Chalice has power again...magic in a land without," Gothel revealed. Victoria looked a bit startled by that.
"Was that your plan all along? For them to actually remember?" she questioned. But Gothel only smirked.
"I need their power...I needed them to bring magic to a land without. Placing that fool Clayton in charge of keeping them apart only ensured they'd find a way back, though I must say, the boy played an impressive part in that. But then, unlike you fools, I'd never underestimate a child. Especially one born of truest love," Gothel sneered.
"I don't care about the Charmings and or your stupid plan. I must revive my daughter and that means destroying the belief of...another," Victoria snarled. Gothel looked at her and then cackled.
"My, my...how far you have fallen, Rapunzel. You are willing to sacrifice your own granddaughter to revive your dead daughter," she mused.
"Sacrifices must be made...I have made my share. It is someone else's turn," Victoria reasoned.
"Sacrificing your own granddaughter...and they call me a monster," Gothel goaded.
"You will help me, witch. If you ever want your freedom, you'll do this," Victoria hissed. Gothel smirked.
"I don't need you to secure my freedom. However, if you do this...I can almost guarantee your demise," Gothel threatened. Victoria smirked and yanked on her chains.
"You are in no position to make threats," she growled.
"But I am," a voice said and the other woman turned.
"Ivy...what are you doing? Why did you bring her here?" Victoria questioned.
"To stop you, mother...the last thing I want is my perfect sister coming back. Even dead...she overshadows me," Ivy answered.
"Well...you are as unremarkable as they come, so it's no wonder," Victoria responded cruelly, as the dark haired woman glared at her. But Victoria turned her attention to the other woman.
"Welcome back, Regina," she greeted.
"If you think I'm going to let you hurt yet another member of my family, especially one of the children, then you really don't know me," the former Queen warned. But Victoria smirked.
"Oh, I know you better than you think. You see...I know they are awake and yet you are here. Which means...they don't know, do they? There is still a particular memory that they have blocked, isn't there?" Victoria questioned. The look on Regina's face was pure murder, as she wanted nothing more than to choke the life out of this evil woman. Victoria smirked.
"I thought not...they still don't know what has befallen their first born. At least when they find out...they shall finally know how it feels! How if feels for their pride and joy...their precious first born to die," she snarled.
"Don't compare yourself to Snow and David...they're so much better than you that it's laughable. They don't value one of their children above the others, unlike you. I thought I had a bad mother...but you give mine a run for her money," Regina spat in return. But Victoria seemed unfazed by her criticism and Regina looked at the witch.
"And you...what you did...if it's the last thing I do, I'm going to make you pay for everything," Regina promised. But Gothel simply smirked.
"You will try...and fail, as they all have. Soon...this world will know my power and it will be rewritten in my glory," the witch warned.
"Oh no...we'll stop you," Regina promised.
"Without the Savior? I hardly think so. Those two idiots will be too busy mourning her and holding on tightly to the brats they have left. I remember how broken they were when Emma drew her final breath. They'll be in no shape to face me," she promised.
"You're wrong," Regina choked out a sob.
"They'll stop you...in Emma's name. They'll stop you to save their other children and all of us…" the former Queen promised, as she stormed out. She had avoided it long enough. She had to awaken those blocked memories in Snow and Charming, as much as she wished she didn't have to.
~*~
"Hey...are you okay?" David asked, as they walked along the sidewalk on the way to Roni's. She nodded and looked up at him.
"David...I'm worried. There's something I forgot to tell you...it slipped my mind until now with everything that happened yesterday," she lamented. He smiled.
"That's understandable...yesterday was quite a day," he said fondly, but then frowned when he saw how troubled she was.
"Is this about Emma's blanket, Mom?" Bobby asked. She looked at her son and then back at her husband.
"Emma's blanket?" he asked, as she dug it out of her shoulder bag. He became captivated by the precious item and gently touched it, marveling at how it was still so soft, even after all these years.
"This is good...right? That means Emma is here somewhere," he said.
"I'm not so sure…" Snow responded. His brow furrowed in confusion.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Lucy found it...in an underground cavern beneath the community garden. I suspect that Victoria had something else hidden there, but this was all that was found," Snow replied.
"What was Lucy doing in an underground cavern?" he asked in alarm. She shrugged.
"I already told her how dangerous is it was, but she was looking for evidence of the curse. Henry was with her though," she replied. He sighed.
"And Emma's blanket was down in this place?" he asked. She nodded.
"Lucy gave it to me to keep safe...and I've had this terrible gut feeling ever since," she replied, as she started to breakdown.
"I think something happened to Emma...maybe that's why we can't remember. We've blocked it out, because it's too horrible to remember," Snow cried, as he took her in her arms.
"Hey...I know it seems that way and I'll admit, it doesn't seem like a good sign that Emma's blanket isn't with her, but we have to have faith that she's okay and we'll be reunited with her," he implored, as they went inside the bar. But the look Regina had on her face when they entered wasn't encouraging at all.
"We need to talk," Regina said and those four words filled them with a sinking feeling of dread.

Weaver poked around in his evidence locker that afternoon. They had little on yesterday's murder, but then he already knew who it was. The problem was they had to have evidence to make the arrest and to be honest, he wasn't too sad about any of Gothel's followers being killed off. The problem was that the killer didn't distinguish between light magic and dark magic. He hated it all, which meant they were all potential targets. So far, his details that he had put on Leo and Eva or Luke and Jenna rather had reported no anomalies. But he knew it wouldn't be long before the killer made another move. And he had to be ready, for he was a target too. And as much as he missed Belle and Gideon, he was relieved that they had initially stayed behind. Gideon had come down with the flu and she opted to stay home with him, telling him that if their son felt better that they would join them later. But if Belle and their son ventured to the magical forest that had become Henry's new home, they wouldn't find them. And he knew Belle. She wouldn't rest until she discovered what happened to them. That gave him both anxiety and comfort. And though he had every confidence in the world in his wife, he knew how impossible it might be for them to ever discern that they were actually in the past now. Even to the Dark One, their predicament was daunting.
"Sir...there is a man here to see you," an accented female voice said. He turned and eyed the station's receptionist sternly. It still took some getting used to that. In this world, she was so timid. In reality, the blonde fairy that had become his daughter-in-law was as fiery as they came. He almost snorted aloud. That still took some getting used to as well. Who would have thought that he, notorious fairy hater, would have one as his daughter-in-law. Here, Tinkerbell, was the shy Harmony Stevens, receptionist at the Hyperion Heights division precinct. At least he knew she was safe, for his son's sake.
"Tell them to schedule an appointment and I'll see them then," he said sternly.
"An appointment will not be necessary," a cultured voice said and he rolled his eyes. Speaking of people he loathed...
"That will be all, Ms. Stevens," Weaver said, as the timid receptionist walked out of his evidence locker and found herself colliding with a man.
"Oh...I'm sorry," Cassidy apologized, as he steadied her.
"No...it was me. I wasn't watching where I was going," she replied, as they stared at each other for a moment.
"I...I better get back to the phones," she stammered, as she hurried back to the front desk, while Cassidy Gold watched her go, both intrigued and curious, before turning his attention back to the evidence locker. He leaned against the wall outside and listened.
"What do you want?" Weaver spat impatiently, as Baron Samdi waltzed into his evidence locker.
"I just thought it was a time that we have a chat," Samdi responded.
"I don't chat...so get to the point and get out," Weaver growled.
"So hostile...yet it is me that has true reason to hate you, Rumpelstiltskin," Samdi snapped in return. Weaver smirked.
"Don't tell me this is about your dalliance with Regina years ago...shouldn't that have be ancient history by now?" he retorted.
"We had something special...and you ruined it with your curse. I could have made her happy…" he insisted.
"Perhaps...but I needed the curse to find my son and nothing, least of all some torrid romance, was going to stop me," he retorted.
"It was not torrid...it was true. Maybe not as true as those precious Charmings you're so fond of, but it was real," he growled.
"And what? Now you're angry, because Regina fell in love with another and no longer wants anything to do with you?" he questioned. Samdi was silent and Weaver smirked.
"I am a dangerous man when I am scorned, Dark One," he warned.
"And I am a dangerous man, no matter the circumstance, so if it's revenge you're looking for, take your best shot," Weaver countered. Samdi smirked.
"Careful Dark One...because while I may not have access to your precious Belle…" Samdi warned and Weaver cut him off.
"Don't even say her name," he growled. Samdi smirked.
"As I was saying...Belle may not be here for me to use against you, but there is someone else in Hyperion Heights that you care for," he warned.
"Don't you dare…" Weaver growled. He smirked.
"Yes...your son. The same son that you were looking for when you used Regina to cast your curse. The son you sought when you manipulated her into leaving me!" Samdi spat.
"Yes...I did all those things and I don't regret it. I found my son and Regina found her true love. The man with the lion tattoo is her soul mate, after all. If you ask her, I don't think she regrets her actions. They got her the family she has," Weaver stated.
"I could have been that family," Samdi spat.
"And yet, she has more than you could have ever given her. A husband, a step-son, a repaired relationship with a step-daughter she now loves, a step-son, and five grandchildren. Not to mention the great grandchildren she has in young Henry and his daughter," Weaver stated.
"You don't know that. Without the curse, I could have loved her. I could have helped her repair her relationship with the Charmings too," he insisted.
"Until the Goddess Aphrodite came to them and championed them with the Chalice. We know then that you would have done anything then to possess their magic," Weaver said, gauging his reaction. Regina was awake now, but Samdi didn't need to know that.
"And when she awakens and remembers who you really are and your part in Gothel's plot and the fate that befell Emma...you'll be lucky if she doesn't kill you for it," Weaver reminded. Samdi frowned deeply.
"I didn't know that Gothel would prevent the Savior from being taken by the curse so she could be saved from the poison…" he argued.
"And Regina won't care...you're still working with the Collector and that witch. Even if she didn't have her Robin, she'd never have anything to do with you again. But if you want a bit of redemption...you can tell me where the chalice is," Weaver stated. Samdi chuckled in amusement.
"You cannot wield the chalice anymore than I can. Even if I did know where it is...I'd never tell you," Samdi countered.
"Suit yourself...it will be your funeral. Eventually," Weaver retorted, as they glared daggers at each other.
"Or perhaps it will be your son's," he threatened.
"Touch Bae...and I will not just kill you, I will find a way to make you suffer eternally and I know many ways to see to that. You'll beg me for a death I'll never let you have," Weaver warned. Samdi smirked and it was clear that they weren't done with each other. Samdi wanted the dagger and he was sure that Weaver had it stashed in this locker, but getting it would not be easy. However, he would find a way and then the Dark One would pay for destroying his chance at love. He stormed out, unaware that Cassidy Gold had heard the whole exchange and was extremely confused by it all…

Bechloe Fic Preview
So... I wrote a thing. It’s kinda long, so this is really only the preview. The rest I will link to my FanFiction/AO3 accounts for the rest of your reading pleasure. Let me know what you think, yeah?
"You know what you need? A dog."
Beca glanced up from her phone, mouth still full of chicken burrito goodness, giving Stacie an eyeful when she mumbled, "Whhaa?"
Stacie shrugged, taking a sip of her water. "I said you need a dog."
"I know what you said, Stace. I meant it like 'what the hell do you mean I need a dog?'"
"I think you should get a dog because it'd be good for you."
Beca snorted. "Yeah, no. Not gonna happen."
"Aw, c'mon Becs!"
Beca shot her a warning glare. "I don't do animals." Her tone implied it was the end of the conversation but Stacie paid no head to the shorter girl's stink eye.
"Hear me out, okay? You just moved into your first condo-"
"Correction: I've been living there for almost three weeks now and I had an apartment before-"
"Well sure, but you were living with Jesse then, and now that you're single and alone in that big ol' condo of yours, you should get a dog to keep you company. You know, for when your best friend ain't around!" Stacie shot her a wink.
Beca smirked. "Really now? I didn't know Fat Amy was in town." Stacie's jaw dropped and Beca laughed.
"You cut me deep, Becs. Real deep."
Beca shrugged, shaking her head. "But really though. No dog."
"But Beca dogs are so cute! They're cuddly, friendly, fluffy, total sweethearts…" Stacie insisted, twisting her lips in thought. "Yeah you could definitely use a dog to mellow out all of this," she said, gesturing to the frowning musician. Beca flipped her off in return.
Stacie snickered. She leaned forward suddenly, lowering her voice to a husk. "Plus, chicks dig puppies." Stacie winked again, laughing when Beca's cheeks grew ruddy. Beca threw her face into her palms with a groan.
"Stacie, you're my best friend whom I love like 'the sister I never wanted'," Stacie reached across the table to slap Beca's arm. "But I'm not getting a dog just to find myself a girlfriend. Jesse and I broke up like a month ago and I just…I'm not looking for a relationship right now."
Stacie Conrad (self-appointed best friend and unofficial "sister from another mister") was no stranger to the ways and wiles of Beca Mitchell. They had been best friends since birth. They grew up together, watched out for each other, and had one another's backs all through high school. Beca had been there for Stacie's pregnancy scare back in sophomore year and Stacie had been there for Beca when the tiny deejay started to question why she found the girl in her trig class more attractive than James Jackson, the (questionably) hottest guy in their school.
She had been devastated when Stacie moved down to Georgia for college while she was shipped up to Boston with her father, but they never lost touch and spent every summer together. Back when she told her best friend she had feelings for a guy named Jesse (even when Beca had spent her senior year of high school finally some-what comfortable being known as the 'mysterious gay alt-chick with the awesome mixes') Stacie just took it all in stride. Then again, Stacie was bisexual and knew what it was like to occasionally bat for both teams—once at the same time, or so she had bragged to Beca the morning after. Beca had hung up mid-conversation when she heard someone moaning in the background. Seriously, Stacie had no shame.
"Who said anything about a relationship? Like I always say Becs, the best way to get over someone old is to get under someone new." Stacie wiggled her eyebrows, sporting her signature toothy grin. "But if you're not interested in chasing tail, so to speak, I'll be more than happy to step in for you."
Beca groaned. "Jesus dude like what the hell? You want me to get a dog so you can use it to find your next… sexcapade? No, just- just no. That's like, animal cruelty, or something."
Stacie huffed but finally relented, leaning back into her seat and grabbing her fork to finish her salad. "Fine. Just so you know, you're the worst wing-woman ever, Becs. Like… ever. But that's alright because I love you."
Beca rolled her eyes and the two went back to their meals in silence. After a minute Stacie looked up through her long dark lashes and grinned. "I still think you should get a dog."
It was true when Beca had said she "didn't do animals". Or rather animals just didn't do her. Perhaps both.
Her mother had a cat when Beca was younger (meanest bastard alive), and after being attacked by that goat at the petting zoo when she was ten, she had essentially sworn off all animals in general.
And really who could blame her? Animals were messy and smelly. They needed to be trained (unless you wanted poopy carpets and chewed up shoes) and constant supervision lest the damn thing wander off and get stuck under the bed or something. Not to mention dogs basically barked all the time and Beca valued her silence more than anything, especially when she was mixing.
If she wanted to deal with all of that then why not just adopt a toddler for crying out loud!
So no, she wasn't getting a dog. Stacie could suck it.
It would seem, however, that fate had other plans.
She was walking home after her shift at Residual Heat, the record label she had just started working for, still without a car and having decided against the bus to avoid any more potentially fatal run ins with the crazy old lady she had sat next to that morning.
She was wearing her headphones, more focused on the mix currently playing than what was in front of her. When she rounded the corner her nose nearly kissed the pavement tripping over some kind of animal cage. Luckily the cage was empty and Beca managed to stay on her feet (granted her big toe hurt like a mother), but the noise had caught the attention of the two employees standing in front of the pet store. Furthermore, now one of them was walking her way.
Despite her dark appearance, perpetual scowl, and "don't fuck with me" attitude, Beca did in fact possess the ability to be polite (really only when necessary), and she knew it would have been rude to just ignore this girl.
Damn. She'd been less than ten minutes from home too.
Beca begrudgingly pulled off her headphones to dangle loosely around her neck and gave a tight-lipped smile to the grinning blonde striding up to meet her.
"Hi there!" (Oh dear god, one of those people? Should she just keel over now or suffer through attempting to talk to this girl and ultimately die from her own awkwardness?) "Would you like to hear about our adoption program today?"
Beca would have answered that no, she did not want to hear about their adoption program today or any day or anything regarding animals for that matter, thank-you very much. But, as per usual and because she was just so excellent talking to random people on the street, her words jumbled around inside her mouth before she could even get them out. Which was fine because the blonde was pressing on with or without Beca's approval.
"It's national Adopt a Pet Day, but here at Barden's Pet-a-Tete we've turned it into Adopt a Pet Week!" She gestured to the various cages and dog pens before turning back to Beca with a sad smile. "All these little guys here come from a pound in Atlanta. They need good, loving homes, otherwise the pound will take them back to be euthanized by the weeks end."
The blonde suddenly looked at her, all big doe eyes and pouty lips, silently begging the question Beca was hoping to avoid. She gulped, palms sweating, suddenly nervous this girl could see straight into her 'non-pet-loving' soul.
"Jessica, please, I doubt she needs to hear all that," the second girl said, wandering over to Beca and Jessica, carrying two puppies in her arms. The brunette smiled politely at Beca and handed the bigger puppy to Jessica who at least had the decency to look apologetic. Beca was thankful for the interruption.
Despite her aversion to animals, Beca was indeed a sucker for pouting puppy-dog eyes (how ironic). It was pretty much how Jesse got her to go on a date with him way back in their first year of college. That big dope just had to have the sweetest looking pout she'd ever seen and after she eventually caved and went out with him, he knew he could get away with so much because of that look. (That bastard.)
"Sorry, Ash. I know we still have time and more than half of the dogs have been adopted already, it's just that I want these guys to go to awesome homes. Like now! Aw Ashley, can we keep this one? Please!"
Jessica's puppy was some large breed dog from what Beca could tell and was happily licking the blonde's face into slobbery oblivion, waving his tail back and forth in a mad blur. Jessica started giggling when the pooch began nipping at her hair, trying to climb up her chest to get better access with a surprising amount of success.
Ashley shook her head with a small smile, turning to Beca. "Would you mind holding this one while I pry my girlfriend free?"
Beca, who was watching Jessica being (gently) mauled by the beast in her arms, nearly jumped when a tiny bundle of fur was stuck under her nose. Ashley was already turning to help Jessica and Beca had no choice but to grab the puppy from her unless she wanted to be responsible for dropping the poor thing.
She wasn't all that familiar with dog breeds (she could at least tell you the difference between a black lab and golden retriever) but she was pretty sure the little pooch in her hands was a beagle. Its underside was white with a mix of tan and black patches on its back, and two black ears that were far too large and floppy for its tiny head. Beca tried to adjust her grip and was suddenly nose to wet black nose with the pup.
"She's the last of her litter." Beca glanced over at a messy-haired Jessica, having been freed from the puppy's assault while Ashley put him away with two others that looked just like him. She smiled at Beca.
"The littlest one there was. She can be a little shy and timid, which is probably why she hasn't been adopted yet, but she's an absolute sweetheart and just loves her teddy." Jessica grabbed a tiny teddy bear from a nearby cage and handed it to Beca as little puppy teeth gently latched onto the bear's ear.
The beagle growled playfully when Beca gently tried to tug the bear away. Had she been aware of it, and not giving her fullest attention to the fuzzball in her arms, she would have felt her lips twitch with mirth… as if she were about to smile. (Oh dear god, the horror. She was so screwed.)
"What's her name?" she asked.
Jessica's smile widened and Beca realized her mistake, too little too late. "Whatever you want it to be."
Beca sputtered. Struggled to say something, anything. To give the dog back and run away as fast and as far as she could. She told Stacie "no dogs" and damn it, she meant it!
Ashley, almost nonchalantly, called over her shoulder, "You know, all store purchases are 50% off with every adoption. And you get an additional discount on every bag of dog food you buy from here for the next three months."
Beca could practically here the smile in Ashley's voice and if it was anything like the one Jessica was beaming at her then it was hopeless.
Well fuck.
So much for her "no pets" policy.
Read the rest here or here and let me know what you think. Here’s to 2017 Pitches!
