Loose crossover with Horizons, mostly just indulging in a head canon while Amethio was out of the show for awhile, he was off bothering Gary and Goh, who reunited with Ash and his new friends in Paldea following an expedition involving more ancient PokeBalls. These probably contain giant versions of Kleavor and G-Zapdos. If not Zapdos, maybe Hisuian Braviary, I just like the idea of Ash’s group meeting G-Zapdos to parallel Liko meeting G-Moltres.

There wasn't much that Onia knew about Spinel. The little she interacted with him thought was enought for her to understand one thing. She was glad to be Amethio's henchwoman and not Spinel's.

The way he was so creepy was jus-

"Hello Onia"

The voice who said that was calm yet threathening. Yes she knew who that voice belonged to. She didn't even need to look behind to know.

"Admin Spinel! Uh what are you doing here?" She asked. A completely fair question considering last she heard he was in a complete different location.

She heard the noise of his steps and then felt his hand touching her shoulder. She could see from the corner of her eye his face. The green haired man had a fake smile that almost seemed to be transbording with anger.

"Let me make something quite clear Onia. I have not forgotten what you said about me in Rotomblr. Continue your disrespect and I will erase all memories of yours that aren't important for Master's Gibeon mission" he said. The grip of his hand on her shoulder tightening. "Understood Onia?"

"Y-yes sir" she said. Onia felt cold sweat come from her face. Her heartbeat becoming faster and faster.

"Good. I'm glad we were able to finish this little problem trought a nice conversation." Spinel said before letting go of her shoulder.

He walked away. And all Onia could think was how scared she was and how once again she was grateful she was Amenthio's henchwoman not his.

“Once upon a time, a hundred years past, there was an adventurer followed by a black Rayquaza. He traveled through every region, meeting strong Pokemon, and forging strong bonds with them. Dreaming of new horizons, he took the Pokemon he befriended and headed for the ends of the world. They all worked together as one.

Galloping across the land, breaking through walls, racing through the sky, healing wounds, crossing seas. His adventure led him to discover a luxurious, beautiful, and gleaming paradise. The adventurer, his black Rayquaza, and his Pokemon friends went on to live happily ever after in this paradise. Praising his courage and endless curiosity, he would come to be known as the ancient adventurer.”

So it seems to me that Gibeon knows the ancient adventurer tale, just like Roy (and thinks the story really happened)? And that his objective is to gather the objects linked to that story, or at least just the pendant?

While we do not know the exact objective of the Explorers so far, we know that:

Amethio was on the mission to retrieve the pendant, and ended up being removed from the mission. Spinel took over the mission and judging from a teaser for the upcoming weeks, he gets the pendant.

Gibeon seems to know more than he lets on, but doesn’t tell his subordinates about it.

In retrospect, two things stand out to me about HZ006. Amethio makes a report to Gibeon and explains that he witnessed the black Rayquaza. Spinel doubts his words and wonders if it even exists, so it indicates that he doesn’t seem to know about the significance of the black Rayquaza?

Amethio doesn’t seem to know a lot either, but he decides to chase after it to understand more about what he saw. Gibeon tells Hamber in HZ006 that they “found it” which seems to refer to the black Rayquaza. It seems like Gibeon knows about the connection between the pendant and the Ancient Pokeballs and that he knows the story of the ancient adventurer since the mention of the black Rayquaza didn’t strike him as something odd. He doesn’t seem to tell his subordinates about it (Hamber seemed to know a few things, though?), he just gives them tasks to retrieve certain items and it shouldn’t be questioned. At the very least, so far Spinel doesn’t seem too intent on understanding the why for example, as his reaction to the mention of the black Rayquaza was suspicion and doubt. He knows they all exist to fulfill Gibeon’s wishes, so he will do so without questioning too much (so far).

From what we’ve seen of the upcoming previews (and what will actually happen in the episode could be different from my speculations), Spinel just takes the pendant and doesn’t seem to bring Liko with him?

In comparison, Amethio seems much more invested in unraveling the mysteries that he witnessed. He makes the connection between Liko and her pendant in HZ002 and comes to the conclusion that she should come with them since she appears to be part of that mystery. In HZ012, Friede reached a similar conclusion: Liko having the pendant seemed to have kicked things off. In HZ006, Amethio intends to chase after Rayquaza as he is curious about the resonance he witnessed and the key to this mystery. It also really stands out to me that Friede said in HZ012 that his motto is to “chase each mystery we see until it’s solved”... I feel like Friede and Amethio are set up as much more similar than meets the eye, since from what we’ve seen, Amethio is also chasing the mystery he sees to understand, know more, and solve it. They both seem very observant and curious. Perhaps Amethio will learn about the tale of the ancient adventurer somehow while he chases Rayquaza.

Either way, I wonder if Gibeon is linked to the ancient adventurer somehow? Did he create his organization to retrace the steps of the ancient adventurer? Since he knows about the pendant and appears to know about the black Rayquaza, perhaps he just wants the pendant as it resonates with the Ancient Pokeballs and he wants to gather the Six Heroes?

Since the show has some kind of inheritance themes going on so far (Liko inheriting her grandmother’s pendant and sense for adventure, Roy inheriting the Ancient Pokeball from his grandfather, Mollie inheriting a profession from her family, Friede inheriting his teacher Lucca’s philosophy), I wonder if there will be one between Gibeon and Lucius as well. After all, the name of Gibeon’s organization (Explorers) has a similar meaning to adventurer.

Klarion is EXCITED. He's absolutely DELIGHTED even, unable to sit still as he flits from place to place. His baby cousin! Is! Visiting! Which OBVIOUSLY means he, as the older one, must make sure the main places are still standing so he can show his itty bitty baby cousin EVERYTHING! After all, he's never gotten to be the older one!
