Something that struck me hard about Tommy's video was just...

The way he said Technoblade is the coolest fucking person he knows. The present tense. That realization that yeah, even though he's gone he is a cool person. His memory is still alive and so is he and he is a cool, awesome, kind, person.

The idea that yeah, even though time moves on we don't have to leave things in the past. Not the Dream SMP, not Technoblade, not the absolute batshit phenomenon that was this chaotic cluster of streamers and fans.

We can carry it with us and refer to it in the present tense because even if it isn't right here, right now, it's still awesome. Even if he isn't here - he is still awesome.

Something about refusing to let someone become just a memory. Something about keeping them alive. Something about appreciating what we have.

Thank you Tommy. I needed that.

Chapter 4 - With the war with the fire

Tommy was awoken by the clattering of plates and cutlery. He flew up, almost hitting his head on the headboard. Tubbo was standing by the bed, trying desperately to balance two trays in his hands. He was not doing well. Tommy dragged himself out of bed, reaching to take one of the trays from the boy. Tubbo was far too chirpy for someone who was awake at - Tommy checked his watch - 8am. 

“Good morning! How did you sleep?”

Tommy yawned

“About as well as your average kidnapping victim does.”

Tommy sat down on the bed wearily. Tubbo sat down next to him, sympathy painted on his face

“I’m sorry, that was a silly question”

He clicked his tongue awkwardly, trying to break the silence. Tommy begrudgingly took a bite of the eggs he had been given. He was upset at how good they tasted.

“How are your eggs?”

Tubbo smiled with his question. Tommy shrugged

“...good”

He didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing it was some of the best food he’d had in years. 

Tubbos smile stretched practically up to his ears.

“I’ll tell Techno you enjoyed it!”

Tommy looked at him in shock

“Technobade made this?”

Tubbo nodded his head enthusiastically

“Yep! This is good, but you should taste his potatoes! They’re his specialty”

Tommy rolled his eyes

“Sorry, I just forget psychopaths have hobbies”

Tubbos face hardened at that

“Techno is not a psychopath”

Tommy glared at him. If looks could kill, they both would’ve died in that moment.

“He is entirely unaffected by the deaths of hundreds of people, HE CAUSED. That sounds pretty psychopathic to me”

Tubbo set his empty tray to the side of him, and turned to face Tommy, his stare hard as nails

“You have no idea what you are talking about and it shows”

His face softened slightly and he shuffled slightly closer to Tommy, taking his hands in his

“Tommy, I want to be your friend. You are obviously a smart guy but, god you are ignorant. You have been kept sheltered in that damn hero tower for so long that you’ve lost sight of reality. They kept you in a bubble, and I’m here to pop it.”

Tubbo took a breath, having been speaking too fast to do so. He looked Tommy in the eyes. Tommy stared at him dumbstruck, his brow furrowed. 

“...I’m not ignorant”

He muttered it so quietly Tubbo could barely hear him. A frown tainted his face.

“You act as though they locked me in there and didn’t let me out. I was just as free as you seem to be.”

Tubbo shifted in his seat for a second

“Tommy, can I use my power on you? 

Tommy stared at him in shock, fear shining in his eyes. 

“I promise I won’t hurt you. Please?”

What did Tommy have to lose? As much as he realised there was almost no good ending to this situation, he decided to go for it. So what if he fucked it up, he always did. 

“Ok…”

Tubbo gripped his hands tighter, closing his eyes so tightly his face scrunched up. The two boys sat like that for what felt like forever, but was likely just a few minutes at most.

I just watched mostly all the vods aaaannnd I still love character Philza Minecraft and Technoblade. Did they do something wrong? Yes. Were they horrible and destructive? Yes. But did they have a point? Yes, they did. Did they go about their point the right way? Not really. And those are the reason why I still love them. Not because they are perfect and they are right or that they have the moral high ground but because everyone, as in the characters, in Dream SMP are flawed and Techno and Phil are not exempted from that.

Even Tommy and Tubbo are not perfect and yet I still love them. Seeing them make mistakes and go through different circumstances makes them feel real. By trying to understand the motivations of the different characters you get to see why they did certain actions. Every character decision, from the right or the wrong, is easily justifiable in the mind of those characters. Every perspective is unique, a person can convince themselves that what they are doing is right with proper the motivation.

You can like/love a character but still disagree with their decisions. Because at the end of the day they are still just that, a character. And let me just say that they are awfully interesting characters. It’s up to you if you still want to watch them make horrible mistakes, and boy do I want to watch them commit anarchy.
