Thinking Teen Wolf Thoughts
I would like to preface this by saying it is not intended as Scott Hate. That said, let's dive in!
I have an idea, not quite a theory, so we are going with headcanon cause I think that's the best word for this. It has to do with Scott and Stiles' popularity or lack thereof at the beginning of the show.
Our boys are presented as equally unpopular, but what if it's not that Stiles and Scott are unpopular but that SCOTT is unpopular.
Hear me out. While, yes, Stiles is a little goofy and definitely nerdy, he's a cutie! He's the son of the sheriff (which would make him plenty popular in certain circles), he's on the lacrosse team, even if he doesn't play at first, and circling back to that Stiles being cute comment, being attractive in high school basically makes you a celebrity. Combine that with the fact that Stiles is so kind and clever, it's no wonder that Erica had a crush on him, Heather wanted to lose her virginity to him, and Malia DID lose her virginity to him (or he did to her, but either way, boy can pull).
Now, the first time we see our boys at a party, the story is obviously focusing on Scott, but when Scott finds Stiles, our 'unpopular' boy is surrounded by people. So here is where my theory/headcanon comes in.
Stiles is popular, always has been, but SCOTT is not. Stiles gets invitations to parties and group hangouts all the time but genuinely doesn't want to go if Scott's not going to be there cause that's his boy. Eventually, Stiles gets fewer and fewer direct invitations, but there's always a standing unspoken invitation, like Stiles could show up to a party 'uninvited,' and it wouldn't be weird.
Now, because of Stiles' constant rejection of invitations and the popular crowd, he's not quite Jackson/Lydia popular, which is why Lydia ignores him/doesn't know who he is, but if he had accepted the popularity, he would have been part of their circle.
Meanwhile, Scott (who we can all agree is not the most observant friend) is unaware of Stiles' popularity and assumes Stiles gets left out the same way he does, but it doesn't matter because they have each other.
This would make the "You still have me!" "But I had you before" conversation take on a little bit of a sadder tone since Scott wouldn't know the significance of his friendship with Stiles, but anyhoo, these are my thoughts. Thanks for listening.

Something I haven't really seen talked about, is Lydia kissing Stiles to stop his panic attack. As someone who gets panic attacks, I would not be happy if anyone, even my husband, did that. A lot of people don't want to be touched at all during panic attacks, but a big issue here is you can't consent in that state.
Obviously Lydia had good intentions and was trying to help, but it still rubbed me the wrong way because even though Stiles has been in love with her for years, not only could he not consent, but that had to have given him false hope and mixed signals which can be painful.
Again, nothing against Lydia, she was scared and did what she thought could help and it did work in this instance. Getting Stiles to hold his breath was a good idea, the way to get that to happen, not so much.

Just had a thought about Stiles Stilinski:
He's kinda like Sam Winchester. The longer his hair gets, the more traumatized he becomes.

For real though. It feels like they spent the entire first 2 seasons hinting Stiles was Bi, him flirting with Danny being a big factor and him making jokes about making out with Scott etc. Then for some reason they just completly dropped the Bi angle and he was super straight for some reason. It felt like it was no longer the character feeling comfy and joking about his sexuality to more like the show was making fun of it. For a show that claims to take place in a world without any homophobia there was a serious lack of any other relationships that wasn't straight.
The only main gay character got completely written off because they didn't know what to do with him (like how do you not know what to do with Danny) his partner disappeared and then showed up again 3 seasons later.
But I dunno it felt like you were either straight or not important to the story.

so far most of the shots in the cast photos include the actors wearing/displaying some symbol generally associated with their character
e.g. tyler and dylan as scott and liam baring their fangs, crystal as allison with her bow and arrow
khylin is wearing a drop earring, and in the photo they chose to publish it is clearly a highlight. maybe that’s just because he looks rly hot and cool with it but
what if it means something?
and i’m not saying i know what that might be but it’s fascinating!!
we already know mason ends up in the sheriff’s department. we know he wears the uniform, and we also know that he, at the very least, wields a gun in the movie… yet he’s neither wearing the uniform and/or jacket nor carrying the gun in any of the shots we’ve seen. what does that mean?? both the sheriff and parrish are wearing the symbols associated with their characters: jacket and uniform+radio+gun respectively.
why isn’t mason?

okay i haven’t updated you on @lunarshell and I’s teen wolf rewatch since it seems the end of season 1? We’re now in season 3 lol whooopsss
anyway - season 2 is definitely my favorite, it’s just so fun!
alright idk if anyone cares about spoilers but imma put them under here anyway.
I will fully admit to thirsting after JR Bourne *immediately* and consistently, but season 2 starts with him pinning Scott to the car and i was like.... he could pin me to a car js.
i’m going to make a separate post of our weird af things we say while watching this show, because we. have been dropping them in our writing discord out of context channel, because Bree is technically writing while we do this.
anyway - Jackson is a ✨lizard ✨ and I’ve got to say we had so much fun with that this season. the kanima is kind of ridiculous. and much more creepy when just seeing Jackson with scales instead of Full Lizard (though do wish we could of seen what it would of looked like wings because. dragon?)
do we even have to talk about how little sense so much of this much and how Much Miscommunication is happening? Like the most. They’re really like working to not understand each other or not just meet in the middle.
sometimes the miscommunication does make sense. there isn’t enough time, or whatever, but most of the time it’s just like Why.
also pls stay consistent with the lore (spoiler: they don’t. they never do. season 3 so far seems especially bad about it but this is season 2)
the Pool Scene™️ episode was just as fun as i remembered. their on screen chemistry is just so much fun to witness. and the dinner happening at the same time is So Awkward
also i think we about telling the Sheriff like twice this season and then something happens and they just Don’t. and like. why not? pls just. they should of told him after the deputy massacre tbh because like. he knew scott was shot so. make any of that make sense. also he deserves to know AS DOES LYDIA.
like i remembered they don’t tell her but like. they really just don’t tell her anything. (also remembering that that kid was young Peter a bit before it’s revealed was wild. i suddenly went “wait isn’t that peter” and bree went “oh shit you’re right”)
(i remember so much of this show and yet forget Important things constantly. memory issues, can we work together here??)
speaking of lydia. why are her and allison like this. i don’t remember it being so bad but it truly is just. so bad. i don’t think they have a conversation where they’re not dismissive or just outright mean to each other, normally mean. but they’re like “we’re best friends” and uh. no, no you’re not.
the ending of this season is So Fun. during matt’s whole speech about why he’s doing what he’s doing, Bree and i didn’t talk (and we talk a lot during this show lol). the tension was really done, tbh this whole episode is (the police station one).
however i’ve been putting off talking about him but. Gerard. I just don’t care about him, we were both tuning him out when he talked. i’m not sure what it was about him but he’s suppose to be at least Threatening and we were just like meh.
also wish Jackson stayed a kanima. like it was something he could control, instead of going to wolf town. i love wolf town but give the man wings, please, it’d be hilarious.
overall this season is ridiculous and not well written, frankly, but it is Highly Entertaining. Like that’s one thing i can say for these first two seasons - they suck you in and hold your attention. they’re just fun, the vibes are great.
i’ll write another update once we finish 3a but i can tell you. the vibes are not there, y’all. there’s some good moments, some tense onces (some very uncomfortable ones) but overall, weirdly enough, they got a bigger budget and the quality and cohesiveness just dropped

Okay okay hold on.
You’re telling me that Derek Hale is living in Beacon Hills owning an auto shop and consulting for the sheriff and having a rebellious teenage son who loves the jeep and in the first twenty seconds of being on screen Derek says to the sheriff “Maybe you should call your son?” Like I literally paused it.
Seriously considering keeping it paused and just writing a fanfic to finish it out because this is a beautiful premise that right now is canon. I accept the first 20 minutes of this movie. The rest we can toss.

teen wolf is essentially a show where all the bad guys look at little golden boy scott mccall and say "you will stoop to our level eventually, naïve child". then scott looks at all of them, goes "no. fuck you," and does it better than them.

I was thinking about things cause I saw a Supernatural edit, and my ADHD brain followed the thought train to Teen Wolf as it often does, and I have thoughts.
As much as I LOVE Stiles raising a baby/having a baby/ finding a baby and being naturally good at it while Derek is out of his depth when you break it down, it makes no sense.
Stiles and Scott? As only children and BOYS when did they ever have a chance to look after children? (While I think boys are perfectly capable of caring for children parents tend to favor girls in child care so like when would they have even had an opportunity?)
DEREK, on the other hand....
A) he has a younger sister with a fairly significant age gap. B) he had a pack that canonically is referenced as to having children, and with family/pack dynamics, it would not be a stretch that Derek has at least SOME experience with children, especially since it's implied Cora is closer in age to Stiles and co whereas Derek is in his early 20s in season one. (Obviously, we all know what a mess the Teen Wolf timeline is, but for the sake of this post early 20s)
Derek's not good with teenagers... As we know... *insert every early interaction with Stiles and Scott ever* But kids and babies? No problem Think about how he is with everyone in the show but then how he was with those little trick-or-treaters. He scared them sure but he also gave them candy, when he could have just as easily ignored them.
I just feel like if you gave him a baby, he would just be like: "I'm a father now, yes I need the most expensive diapers possible!"
Which after having this conversation with my roomie, I realized would make magical Nemeton baby Eli (My favorite explanation) make SO much sense. Found a clearly werewolf baby in the woods? Guess he's a dad now.
Now don't get me wrong, I do think Stiles would pick up very quickly on taking care of a baby, he's very empathetic and cares very deeply, but initially, I think he wouldn't have a clue what he was doing. He would love the baby and WANT to take good care of the baby but wouldn't really know what he was doing. And babies, especially younger babies can be overwhelming.
So what I'm saying is I need a fic where Stiles finds a baby, has no clue what he's doing and Derek is like: "No that's not how you hold a baby/change a diaper/ hold a bottle" and Stiles falls in love so I'm going to write one
Thanks for coming to my ted talk

The power of fandom compels you
There are millions upon millions of words and art and creative production of media for consumption for free. Just because we care. Because something compels us, because something inspired us, made us feel something inside.
We surround ourselves with others who also get so excited about it, and I stand here atop a little mound of my own creation while we all gush over the things we love and I am reminded about how joyous and lovely it is to care.

What if…..
I’ve been thinking about this all day. What if Derek remembered Stiles when the first met when Stiles and Scott were trying to find Scott’s inhaler.
We know Stiles knew who he was but what if it was Derek who said something?
Just picture Derek seeing Stiles and Scott and he’s like, “Stiles…is that you?” and then Stiles being like, “Derek…when did you come back to Beacon Hills?” and then Scott is standing there so confused.
I bet Derek and Stiles met each other growing up before the fire happened. They were probably somewhat friends that would try to stay in contact with each other until Derek left.
