Autoduel Quarterly V4 N3, Fall 2036, Special Texas Bicentennial Issue, Denis Loubet cover art (Steve Jackson Games, September 1986, during what actually was the Texas Sesquicentennial; all AQ issues were dated 50 years into the future and mostly written as if they were documents from within the setting of Car Wars)

I just snagged this advertisement for Pearl Beer in the April 13, 1901 edition of the San Antonio Daily Light newspaper. It appears the people loved Pearl Beer! I used to like drinking cheap pitchers of both it and Lone Star at the Armadillo World Headquarters.

Howdy y'all!
I'm TEXAS the biggest*, the best and the friendliest state in the United States of America. I'm known for my diverse landscapes, bright starry skies, and rich history.
Y'all are always welcome here!
(unless you're California...)

*okay so technically Alaska is bigger, but who cares?

the funniest part of “remember the alamo” is that isn’t the full statement so everyone does in fact forget goliad, a far larger loss of life.

⚠️ Scene of the crime ⚠️
Jaws, Freddy, ??? , Carrie, Mike Myers.
I’m not entirely sure what the middle one is, but this was setup at Alamo Drafthouse during Halloween 👻

Time to Meet Bella
@esters-notepad! You asked about the battlefield guardian! So now! Today You Learned! About Bella!
This is Bella:
She’s the Alamo Cat.
Isabella Francisca Veramendi de Valero has been the Alamo Cat since 2015. You see, in the 1980’s, the staff working at the Alamo decided that they needed to have a cat on the premises. The first was named Miss Ruby. Officially, the cat’s duties are to protect the property from rodents and greet visitors. In actuality, I think she just… hangs out. She’s taken care of by the Alamo’s staff and she is in lots of official photos.
Her original name was just ‘Bella’, but they decided that she needed a long official name to be an official Alamo Cat. So all of her names are references to the history of the Alamo and Texas.
Also! You can buy plush versions at the store:
This is from the official Alamo social media accounts.
