Color scheme ideas for SG Twitch in Electric Souls' sixth and last chapter? Some description is required...
Other SG terrans', trying to avoid big overlap;
Thrash — Black and gold with canon Twitch's eye and chest light color. Maybe silverish base?
Twitch — No idea. I briefly considered TFP Soundwave-y colors, but in hindsight that propably wouldn't look good. It's hard to come up with shades of blue that don't look gross....
Nightshade — Brass with red eyes. Gold-ish secondary. Not sure about base color.
Hashtag — Military green with yellow visor and eyes. Not sure if the base color changes or not.
Jawbreaker — No idea either.
(Also, Jawbreaker's colors.... he won't appear in Electric Souls because he'll be born later, but still.... He's an edgy punk child)
I decided to try and visualise this since I already had my program open:
Tumblr media
Tada! Your colour ideas (at least i hope you meant those colours) up top for Thrash, Nightshade, and Hashtag, as well as my attempt at giving Twitch and Jawbreaker some colours. Hopefully the visuals work but then again there's room to miss the mark-
Looking at base terrans, they kinda have two different 'skin' (what I'm assuming you called base) tones, either silverish or greeny-blue though I suppose I might not have gone to extremes here. Gave Hashtag her original base colour give or take but I tried to give Nightshade a greeny tone for their base, kinda taking the brass and turning to copper rust for inspiration. It looks fine on my screen at least, but do give your thoughts.
Seeing as how you got gold for Thrash (kinda yellowish here), brass for Nightshade (something orangey), and military green for Hashtag (which lends to being a more yellowy green), I thought maybe Twitch and Jawbreaker would be on the opposite end of the colour wheel in the blues, purples, and magentas, so I tried it out. You said you were initially going for Soundwave-ish kinda colours for Twitch but thought the blue sucked, so I kinda made it a much lighter blue? Going off of SG Jawbreaker's punk vibe according to this ask I thought a dark purple would do well, the pink horns maybe giving punk idk I thought it would look cool as a bright pop of colour and since it's punk not goth you said bright pink horns (and bright blue-green optics) could look punky without stepping on Thrash's toes in the black paint department.
I also looked at optic colour variation even if technically canon Thrash and Hashtag both have blue optics, so including the bright blue-green cyan of Jawbreaker's eyes, I gave Twitch some lilac coloured optics to once again contrast with the three terran optic colours you've already provided.

Nightshade with a nightshade flower but not really. I used two references for the flower that were VERY different and just was like “lol smash them together no one will notice” but the more I think about it the more it bothers me.
Anyway I really like Earthspark and Nighshade. They are very cool and Fox News (and conservatives in general) are dumb little bitches who can’t handle a cartoon about asexual alien robots having ONE gender neutral main characters.
All transformers are inherently trans. Get over it. Your choosing the wrong fandom to try and be transphobic or homophobic in. Anyway Nightshade is fabulous. The way they reacted to Fluffy ear’s name and general existence makes my day every time. Nerdy little dude.

Tarantulas and Nightshade
[Not ship not romantic!!!]
This is such an interesting take on Tarantulas as a character. He isn't plotting or evil, simply an intelligent character looking for peace from a lifetime of hurt. He is reclusive and largely peaceful, but will resort to violence if he believes it is necessary. But overall, he wants to be left in peace and build a life for himself outside of the influence of Autobots and Decepticons alike.
His desire to create a human avatar is interesting as it shows he believes he can't find that peace and fulfillment without changing himself in impossible ways. This is a sadly familiar thought for a lot of people and adds, whether intentional or not, a hint of queerness to his character. The feeling that you are somehow wrong and would be better or safer if your were someone else is something many lgbt people face daily. I believe that also adds to his connection to Nightshade later on.
Tarantulas seems to think that having a human avatar will allow him to have a life he cannot as a cybertronian living on earth. It's unfortunate but very true, if he were to try and live among humans he would absolutely be treated differently unless he found very specific people. We've seen in the show that there is a lot of anti cybertronian sentiment with the humans. Tarantulas isn't wrong for having thought he would be unable to live peacefully with humans but it is very sad. He has been alone for so long and it feels like he wants connection with others but feels that he cannot have that or is afraid of how to achieve that kind of relationship. Which is why his dynamic with Nightshade is honestly so loveable and sweet.
Tarantulas has been alone for a very long time and Nightshade doesn't have anyone in the Malto family who understands them intellectually. Nightshade is able to pull Tarantulas out of his proverbial shell and interact with him on an intellectual level. This is a very much needed relationship for the both of them. They both have things they can learn from one another to help themselves better their own lives.
Nightshade as a character is heavily inspired by the young adult novels that were popping up in the late 90s and early 2000s. It is even referenced in the show with the book series they get in to. Stories about a chosen one and the struggles they face mirror Nightshade's place in their family and their stance as a nonbinary person.
Also present in every young adult novel is the mentor character. That is what Trantaulas is to Nightshade in their episode together. Another interesting thing to note is that what leads Nightshade to meeting Tarantulas is them trying to find the author of the book series. Something that was always very heavy in young adult novels was the concept of fate. So the show is very true to the various source materials by having such a meeting between the two.
Nightshade and Tarantulas share a common dynamic present in a lot of YA novels. Almost every one has a mentor for the "chosen one" who uniquely understands them and it's nice to see that for those two. What is different from the YA trope is that Tarantulas is learning just as much from Nightshade. Tarantulas is teaching Nightshade that they are intelligent and should nurture their scientific mind and Tarantulas is learning to trust people again through Nightshade.
Tarantulas is also very protective of Nightshade after their time together, completely taking on that mentor and almost parental figure in their relationship. This is incredibly important for Tarantulas' character arc because he is so distrustful of others and especially of humans. When he sees Nightshade with Dot and Alex, he assumes the worst and attacks them to try and free Nightshade from their human captors. Nightshade tries to tell him that Dottie and Alex are their "parents" and not bad people, Tarantulas is blinded by his desire to protect Nightshade from bad people and he doesn't listen.
Tarantulas has spent a good bit of time with Nightshade at this point but hasn't learned anything about their human family or siblings yet. Nightshade is young, naive, and kindly. That is all that Tarantulas sees in that moment. He believes he is protecting Nightshade who is being used by the humans and Nightshade has to fight back against him.
When Nightshade is able to get through to Tarantulas, is a very important moment. They are able to open Tarantulas' eyes to the fact that Dot and Alex are parental figures to them instead of captors. Tarantulas then does something super important. He actually listens to Nightshade. Tarantulas places enough confidence in Nightshade's intelligence to believe it when Nightshade insists they are safe with the humans. Which again reinforces their mentor and mentee bond.
By the end of the episode, they have each learned to trust one another. This is a big step for Tarantulas specifically. He's spent so long by himself, hidden away from other cybertronians and from humans, agonizing over wanting a different life. Him learning to trust Nightshade and put real faith in what Nightshade says to him opens up so much for Tarantulas even though he leaves alone at the episode's close. Because even though he heads out on his own, Tarantulas has learned that there are still people, human and cybertronian alike, that can be trusted snd are worthy of that trust. He can finally begin to heal that lonely place in his spark when and if he wants to seek out others.

Cassiopeia, the depressed sister (Big City Nightshade AU)
Tumblr media
Finally, a finished design of Nightshade’s emo sister, Cassy
And yes, of course she’s covering her cyber sleeve with a long glove, that overly futuristic thing doesn’t match her style (Maltos should have done that as well. It’s only a miracle no one asked any questions about sleeves)
