I think it’s interesting storytelling how in the beginning of the game Cal says the Sixth Sister’s name, Masana Tide, and reminds her of who she used to be—and it visibly distresses her because it hurts what was done to her and Cal isn’t wrong in what he’s saying. The shocking thing for me was the moment when Cal said “It’s time to set you free”. It was such a surreal feeling hearing Cal say that, those kinds of words, to know he decided it was time to strike her down; it’s understandable because she killed his entire crew, but for Cal to be the executioner in that way was scary to see coming after only experiencing the young kid he was in Fallen Order. Now you really get the feeling Cal has been through a lot, he’s grown as a man since Fallen Order and he’s calloused, not entirely in a bad way given he’d have to be to survive but still in a depressing way, as a result. I know overall and gameplay wise, Cal has killed a lot of people, it’s nothing new, but storytelling wise it’s a serious moment for Cal. It’s a moment you know is going to follow him the rest of the game for character development. After he kills her, it’s made clear by the music and by Cal’s body language that this isn’t a good thing coming from him. It isn’t a triumph. Even BD-1 knows and worries for Cal with his little “Boop…?” and Cal is only able to respond rather shakily, “Yeah… I’m okay”.

When he meets up with Bode and Bravo and they ask him what happened to the Inquisitor, he gives a simple, no emotion, “Dead”. The long pause of Bravo not saying anything in response to me says a lot; it feels like he isn’t used to Cal having a reaction like that.

Then we have Rayvis. Cal defeats him in battle and asks him to join in the fight against Dagan. He doesn’t want to kill Rayvis—“You don’t have to do this”. The oddly tragic part to me is that Rayvis has dreams of seeing Tanalorr again. If Dagan succeeds his dream will be realized, but he’s given up on the dream and wants a warrior’s death now. He wants to die, and in his mind, honorably, by Cal’s hands, and he’s going to force Cal to do it. But for Cal it’s another execution on his part. He pauses before he lifts his saber and kills Rayvis. It isn’t a triumph. Again we’re given a sudden swell of music to tell us the emotion behind the action of killing Rayvis. You can see it’s affected Cal badly. BD-1 seems to ask Cal the same question as before, “Boop…?” but this time Cal doesn’t acknowledge the question and just replies, “We should go”.

Killing Dagan hurts for Cal too. Dagan is a Jedi, someone who held onto the Order, who tied his entire identity to it and all of his goals are focused on restoring the Order and fighting to change the universe. Just like Cal in a way. Dagan is single-mindedly focused on the mission, so obsessively, he lost himself and the one he loved as a result. Cal understands and see the parallel of that kind of drive in his own mission against the Empire and it terrifies him. Dagan could’ve helped him fight the Empire but it became another tragic moment of having to kill a once fellow Jedi. This is another tragedy. Bode doesn’t care about Dagan being dead on the floor but Cal does. Cal has enough respect to place Dagan’s lightsaber on his chest. Cal pauses to reflect but Bode immediately gets back to getting the compass.

We have this interesting arch of reactions to killing his opponents. They were each killed for the mission. It was necessary. They each started the fight against him. No matter the reason though, it’s still very painful for Cal.

Cal is being pushed into this direction of forcing him to question his beliefs and who he is. His whole identity at this point has been tied to the Order, of being a Jedi, and it’s very clear by his conversations in Fallen Order that it really matters to who he is. By the end of Survivor, we have three fallen Jedi: Masana Tide, Dagan Gera, and Bode Akuna. So who is Cal Kestis? What will he become? Is he doomed to fall like they did? That’s what troubles him—“Let’s just say I don’t wanna end up like him [Dagan]”.

He’s afraid he’s going to lose himself.

The fear is almost realized when he’s about to kill another opponent. The one behind the murders of his friends and mentors. Cal’s been killing each of his main opponents up to the point at Nova Garon—this one will be no different. Except killing the man who sent Bode on the mission to infiltrate his team is different. Cal is on the edge of losing himself to the Dark Side. In Fallen Order he pleaded for Cere not to use the Dark Side because “She’s stronger than that”, “[she] still had a choice”. But Cal is failing to remember any of that for himself. He wants to kill because he’s angry, grieving, and in immense pain. Merrin has to bring him back—“This is not you!” There’s a question of whether or not Cal would’ve been able to stop himself if Merrin hadn’t been there though.

When we get to the final battle, Merrin is warning Cal of what’s likely going to happen but he ignores her for a while which prompts her to say, “Well? Say something!” He doesn’t want to acknowledge that Merrin is right and they’re likely going to have to kill Bode, and with that, taking Kata’s father away—a loss of family Cal and Merrin know too much about. So they both try and give Bode every chance to stop and turn away from what he’s done, despite how much Bode had hurt them. Sadly, Cal once again is forced into using the Dark Side to prevent Bode from killing Merrin. It was worth it. It was worth using it to save Merrin. He couldn’t let her be killed. He couldn’t see that happen before his eyes like he had with all of his friends and mentors.

After everything is over, there’s this sickly feeling left behind. Not simply because of Bode’s death, but because of the impact on Merrin realizing Kata has lost family just like she and Cal had, but also because of the impact the death of Bode has on Cal. And after Cal carries away Bode’s body, the music changes to an eerie, ominous, high pitch, minor key when we see Cal board the Mantis. The kind of change in music which lets the audience know there’s something seriously wrong. Things are different now. Cal’s different. And he knows it.

He’s lost in time watching the pyre, reflecting on everything that had happened but also on how grateful he is to Cere, but he knows the impact of her loss will continue to be with him for the rest of his life. Just like Jaro Tapal. Another guiding force in his life is gone. With Cere and Cordova gone, there is no longer any Jedi wisdom to seek out. He’s now alone in that way as a Jedi.

“I’m scared… I almost lost myself… I don’t know if I’m ready.”

Cal and the audience are left with the dreadful realization—

“I don’t know if I’m ready for what comes next”.

Theory: Why Jude broke the Blood Crowns Curse

"I want my work to endure just as Queen Mab wanted her line to endure." - Grimsen

Grimsen proclaimes that only in the serpents death can the curse end. But after finding this, the curse might not solely rely on Cardans death.

The curse is centered on Mabs legacy to endure.

The universe opens up new pathways if an important occurence breaks the movement of time. if Mabs legacy could or couldn't endure after what happens, that's what the stars were anticipating.

Jude's reluctance to put the bridle on the Serpent and her decision to end Cardans life rather, has errivocably proven that Mabs legacy would endure and live on.

Mabs legacy relied on two things, her families bloodline and elfhames wellbeing.

Since Cardan turned into a serpent after jude became the High Queen, she is now tied to elfhame and vice versa. She can literally carry on ruling elfhame since she cares more about it more than anything else. Thats what Mab hoped for, to have a devoted and dedicated ruler. Everything relies on Jude's decision. She is literally shaping a new future.

If Jude bridled Cardan selfishly, the reign would be more vulnerable to attacks, assassinations and weaker without somebody to lead who the people favors, a powerful Fae. She could not continue the legacy alone. Madoc, the court of teeth, and all power hungry rulers would have taken advantage of that. Oak might also be assassinated in the near future since she cannot protect him all the time. This could have been written in the stars, eventually leading to downfall.

So when she chooses to kill Cardan, it indirectly led to opening new pathways for a future of honor, love, and duty above all else. Above selfishness, hunger, and greed. Including hers.

And interepreting what occured during the event, Jude might also be carrying a child. If she did, they will fall victim to future plots against the throne. She can't shoulder her mortal and faerie childs fate.

There is also the fact that Oak is still alive. He could carry the legacy, but he is also a child. His life depended on his family and others. He will fall victim to exploitation and deception.

All of this, goes back to Jude and to the fact that the curse would be indirectly broken, as long as everything Mab worked hard for lives on.

*deep sigh* There’s a lot going on IRL & my plate/cup is at capacity. I’m exhausted. But…I’m also trying to figure out what the hell is in the water because we’re all going through some shit. Like!? WTF!? 😩

But I say that to say, I appreciate ya’ll for making this lil corner of the internet enjoyable thus far. 💛

I have countless story & save file ideas but so little time (and I personally don’t like that) BUT I had to remind myself the journey is the fun part. Actually learning how to do the things & letting creativity flow through you is the fun part.

So, with that said. I want to share random sim dumps because CAS is my favorite thing and I wanna share my snacks with the class because it sounds fun. I also want to finish the Slashed CAS challenge, now it may not be done until damn near Christmas (because life be lifeing and my brain gets distracted)…but it’s Spooky somewhere! 😂 And also, not to add too much dip on my chip, but I’m looking forward to biting the bullet & starting a YouTube channel. 🙃 I just want to do fun things and create. Like actually have something that I can enjoy.

EDIT: Story & gameplay things will still be posted (those just take me a bit longer because of all the ideas that I have, I just need to be patient with myself and give myself the time to execute it).

so songs go CRAZY. now here's another one that fits this whole scene but specifically q!slime's characterization: apple pie by the scary jokes. all of it fits so bad it's SURPRISING more people don't know!! it also fits his dynamic with juanaflippa and mariana because the lyrics are scarily accurate.

i just get so bummed out when i think about - how i'll always be too shy to say what's on my mind - i'm fantasizing all the time

this specifically reminds me of the time he was talking to foolish, i believe it was around the wedding? him talking about being done with putting up with jokes about juanaflippa's death. he tries to not take it to heart and it takes a lot of courage to mention that he's uncomfortable.

and every day is always sunny - i'm sweet as syrup on ya, honey

this lyric is just the slimecicle character experience because nearly all of them are very positive optimists that keep a smile on their faces for others. q!slime falls under this category too.

and isn't it wonderful? - how you make me confused when i talk to you - am i losing my mind or am i winning your heart?

slimeriana. they've had a turbulent relationship from the beginning. they argue constantly, and yet it's clear they still love each other. they care about their daughter. recently, mariana hasn't shown up for anything. even when he might've needed his support more than ever. slime is left with a confused feeling about what the status of their relationship is.

now i forget how to feel, i haven't fully healed - oh, from that awful blow

the awful blow is juanaflippa's death. he still hasn't healed from that if the recent stream didn't already make that obvious. he still deeply misses her, and there's still a gaping hole in his heart from the loss and grief he's experienced.

i hope it doesn't show, cause i don't want to be alone

despite everything, even if he might think that he deserves to be alone, he doesn't truly desire that. he wants to be surrounded by people, happy. all of his good experiences have been when he's near people, and any bad ones have been when he's alone. staying near someone is like a safe guard. he's scared of messing up in front of them, but it's better than being left with his own thoughts.

every day's an apple pie - when i'm with you i'm not so shy - and i almost feel alive in your arms

this applies more to mariana because he's visibly more animated and they're in a relationship and whatever, but it also applies to juanaflippa. most of his issues are a direct result of trying to cope with the grief of losing her.

help me forget what i'm going through and i'll give everything to you - it's the least that i could do

he's easily prone to denial. when she first died, he knew subconsciously that she was gone, but he didn't ever fully accept it. when he killed tilín, he exiled himself to try and bring them back. when he learned flippa died again, he tried to push that grief away again. and now that she's back, he's not going to let go. even if there's obvious warning signs. even if she isn't really his daughter. he's so tired of trying to repress how terrified he is. he just wants to be with his family again.

and even if he learns that it's not really her, he won't care. it's a chance to be with his daughter again, no matter what form she's taking.

gwynriel vs elriel

look, not to fuel the shipwars, but..

first of all, let me just say that elriel has a high possibility to be endgame, but so does gwynriel. like when is sjm ever predictable? chances are she will introduce us to a completely new character who will be azriels mate. (honestly not a bad idea)

but what just rubs me the wrong way is when people aggressively say “i didn’t even think gwynriel was even an option until i looked on social media, like they just don’t have any interactions, yada yada yada!”

okay, to each their own i guess, you are allowed your own opinion, but idk, that just seems delusional to me, because azriel and gwyn have so many good interactions that could be a setup for a mate-plotline.

like you can’t tell me that "Even his shadows had calmed. As if content to lounge on his shoulders and watch." or “But Ariel tucked away the thought, consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face. Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly.”, or even “A thing of secret, lovely beauty.” means absolutely nothing. sjm, is a smart woman. she didn’t write that just for funnsies.

of course elain and azriel have more interactions, elain has been a main character for way longer than gwyn. (duh)

maybe elriel is engame, maybe gwynriel. maybe even azris. who really knows? but please be respectful about every opinion (except people that ship azriel and mor because thats just… gross). but you don’t have to ship gwynriel to see that there is potential, because that seems very ignorant to me.

OK BUT HEAR ME OUT

pregame cast. but the au is instead of Tsumugi writing their stories, they write their own stories before going into the game

like pregame Kaede gets her final revenge on the world by becoming a character who takes all their faith and trust and shatters it on the floor

In this au Rantaro did not write when he died, everyone knew except him

canon still happens it’s just that they’re all off script

Maki is the one who breaks script first. She makes up that talent, Ult Child Caregiver, rather than just suspiciously Kyouko in the corner

So like yeah Rantaro/Kaede and Ryoma dying is all as planned, but Maki’s protecting her lie so she doesn’t act where she’s supposed to. So then Kirumi is shoved in in place of that.

That saves Maki’s life for just a little longer. Now instead of Kaito being our ch3 killer, it ends up being Kork. Instead of Angie making it to ch4, it’s Himiko who survives.

Now everything’s messed up bc Shuichi’s character is no longer set to kill. They had random triggers set up in their memories to induce them, but that’s not working anymore, their characters are veering in wild and unexpected directions. Miu steps in to fill the role, but then Kokichi tips Gonta off and he body checks Miu into the victim slot.

Now Kokichi’s running the show and Tsumugi is living for it in ch4. A real life DR game she never thought she’d get to see.

And then ch5, and she’s suddenly so stressed as soon as Kokichi’s got his cards flipped over and laid out. Tsumugi triggers Maki to kill with the Flashback Light like she always was supposed to, and this time Maki does it. Kokichi was originally slotted to live, but Maki does the killing game equivalent of dangling him and Kaito on a thin branch cliffside and walking away without a word.

And then ch6. That glorious final trial. Tsumugi turns on the audition videos, except they’re not auditions.

They are Steven Universe style love letters to the surviving cast that is Supposed to be there. In place of Shuichi’s, Kokichi’s is played. Instead of Himiko’s, Angie’s is played. Instead of Keebo’s, Gonta’s is played. Instead of Maki’s, Miu’s is played.

They’re all styled like Steven Universe’s Rose Quartz video for Steven. Tsumugi plays Kaede’s video just because she wants to. And it ends:

“Every moment of you feel despair… that’s me. Loving being you.”
