Here it is! The promised car-buying tips from my amateur and frugal experience! My general tips are to be prepared, do your homework, and don’t get caught off guard by not doing research and agreeing to things/paying for things you didn’t plan on.

Car salesmen are not your friends and they’re trying to lead you down the path that’s most profitable for them, which is never going to be the best situation for you. It’s their job to try to sell you on a bunch of stuff you don’t need, so be prepared for their tricks and understand the process so you’re not blindsided. Something specific to the coronavirus pandemic is that dealerships will be very desperate to sell (because no one is buying cars right now) and dealerships are willing to take a loss on a sale! BUT! If you go unprepared, it may also leave you vulnerable to dealerships attempting to do unethical shit BECAUSE they are so desperate to sell. They might try to make profits in places you may not suspect. A lot of aspects of buying a car (especially in financing car) sound good up front, but you might find out you’re getting screwed over.

I’m not going to discuss what makes a good car, or what you should buy etc. because I really don’t know and that’s your business! I’m mainly going to talk about the steps before and during the car-buying process (inside of a dealership and over the phone inquiring prices etc). I did my car search and car-buying alone (due to the global pandemic and my own desire to have minimal contact with others) and for my first time ever! So I’m only going to share my experience and offer resources.

I recommend this podcast episode from NPR’s Life Kit, “How to Buy a Car Without Being Taken for a Ride” as a simple starting point for car buying advice. It’s 23 min long. I know not everyone will listen to the podcast episode (and you don’t have to) so I summarized some of those episode tips below and elaborated on certain points.

1) Don’t appear too excited (at the dealership); they will try to build your excitement as high as possible. Playing on your emotions and creating a fantasy of a new life in a new car puts you in a position to make irrational decisions. When I was in the dealership, they actually asked me “Are you excited?” and I said “No.” I was also wearing a face mask, so with half my face covered, concealing my excitement was pretty easy! Their attempts may also appear as them trying to get you to talk shit about your old car to get you complaining, and further idealizing your future car. Overall, appearing too eager will not make them fight over you to get a sale. Make them beg!

2) Get pre-approved for a loan before going to a dealership. Know what kind of interest rate you can get and what kind of monthly payment you can afford. Your credit score will inform this; the better your score, the better your rate will be (so if you have time to improve your score, try to build it as high as possible). Your bank/credit union should have rates listed easily online. You don’t have to be a member of a credit union to get a loan with them, but there may be a discounts if you’re already a member. PLEASE KNOW that after applying for a loan, your bank/credit union will give you a time limit on how long you have to find a car/use the loan. My credit union gave me 20 days from the time I applied, but it can vary. You can also call to increase or decrease the loan if the car you initially wanted is no longer available or you choose a different one. When you apply for a loan, you have to supply the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), but obviously car shopping can change so make sure you supply your bank/credit union with the new VIN number of the car you decide to go with. Your bank/credit union may not approve you for a car that is too old. This happened to me (I first applied for a 2013 car in my budget) and they let me know they typically dont approve loans for cars older than 2014, which was a blessing in disguise because I found a newer model of the same car for around the same price. I ended up changing the car VIN/loan amount 3 times overall from the time I first got pre-approved for my car loan. Just keep your bank/credit union updated. Also! It’s not necessary but it helps if they can send a written (emailed) confirmation of the loan amount with APR listed, as the dealership will need it later in the finance office.

3) Definitely TEST DRIVE a car you see online before considering purchasing it. It might feel different than you thought! I test drove an older model of the car I wanted before test driving a slightly newer model and I’m really glad I test drove the older one so I had something to compare it too. There was only a two year difference between the models but the upgrades made a difference in ways I wouldn’t have thought before sitting in the driver’s seat!

4) Beware the 7 year car loan. It’s probably not the right car for you if you need 84 months to pay off. Car loans are not like home loans; cars are always depreciating in value. Interest on car loans is also always front-loaded, so the money you put in your first few years will mostly go towards your interest, not the principal of your car loan, and you could be spending way more than you thought. If the car does not last you 7 years, you may owe more than the car ends up being worth if you want to or have to sell it. At this point, it might be a smarter decision to lease a car, if for whatever reason, you insist on getting a specific car.

4.5) To add to this last point, you’ve probably seen dealership ads on TV or in print that say “0% APR for 84 months!” This is kind of a scam (at least imo) because it’s very seductive in a way that can distract you from other ways you can save. These advertisements serve the purpose of getting people into showrooms. This is because interest rate is only ONE SMALL FACTOR into finding what’s right for your budget. An APR offer is minimal compared to your monthly payment...if the monthly payment is too high (overall car price too high), are you really saving $$? These offers might even be for a shorter payment term, (ex. 36 month instead of 60 month), your monthly payment could be too high for your budget because you didn’t have the flexibility outside of this offer! If your term payment is longer (ex. 84 months), while your car depreciates in value, you may end up owing more than it’s worth by time you pay it off. 7 years is a long time! As well, these offers are usually only for NEW cars (again, more expensive than necessary) and buying used might be a better option. As well, they are not transparent about the minimum credit score required to qualify for 0% APR, so you may not even qualify...even with great credit! The 0% offer is also usually offered along with other incentives, like a manufacturer rebate (thousand $ and above). You’ll often have to chose between one incentive or the other...you could be turning down a multi-thousand dollar rebate because that 0% is very seductive...but if you did the math, it might not be the best option for your budget. ALSO! If you’re going to buy new anyway, banks/credit unions offer better APR rates for new cars rather than used so compare. If you can get a super low APR from your credit union on a new car, why get stuck with a higher monthly payment on a too long/too short loan term you otherwise wouldn’t have chosen just to get that 0%?

5) To continue with the point above ^^ When you are with the salesman, start with price of the car and don’t talk about ANYTHING else until later. THIS IS WHERE THEY GET YOU! They will try to get you to talk about financing, how much money you want to put down etc. BEFORE promising you a juicy competitive price on the car. SO! APR rates shouldn’t even be discussed until you can agree to the price of the car! Sort of another way they GET YA! So distracting! Can prevent you from getting your lowest overall price possible!

6) IT IS SO FRICKEN IMPORTANT AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, BECAUSE THIS HAS HELPED ME THE MOST OF ANY TIP I’VE HEARD FROM FRIENDS: ASK FOR OTD (Out the door) price. The prices you see listed online or on a sticker on the car window are not the prices you’ll end up paying. OTD price includes everything, tax, fees etc. A few dealerships nearby had the same car I wanted (only varying slightly in color, mileage etc. but exact same year and model) so I called a few and said “HI I saw your car online, could you give me the OTD (out the door) price?” Ask them to break it down for you, what’s the price of the car, what’s tax, document fee, dmv fee, etc. If the OTD price is very high above the car price plus tax, beware! You should not be paying thousands of dollars in additional mystery fees. If a handful of dealerships have basically the same car, see which one can give you the best price. If a dealership cannot be up-front about their OTD price, and break it down for you so you know how all the money is adding up, RUN AWAY! You can ask for this information over the phone, some fees are often not necessary and are negotiable.

With this coronavirus pandemic, you should not be paying this full OTD price on the car, ask for at least 10% off and see what they say. In my situation, I called, got the OTD price at two different dealerships, one dealership asked me what they could do to get my business and I said, “I might come in today if you can give me 10% off the OTD price.” (I was cackling behind my phone tbh! it seemed ridiculous to me but whatevs). The salesman I was speaking to calculated it, said he’d call me back after asking his manager. When he called me back, they offered me just under 10% off...which sounded pretty sweet to me because the car was already being sold below it’s Kelly Blue Book value and that was the dealership I eventually went with. So u never know if you don’t ask! I asked the same of another dealership and they basically said no. So call around! This guy, Kevin Hunter, on youtube, gave me this idea! His channel is full of car buying wisdom so I highly recommend!

He has a great recent video specifically about the car buying market in during this coronavirus pandemic. He has videos on topics like, honest car salesman techniques, are certified preowned vehicles worth it, fake fees you shouldn’t pay for, etc.

7) Something I experienced that Kevin Hunter ^ also explains, (in this video titled, CAR SALESMAN TRICKS YOU into buying a car! DEALERSHIP Rip off: The SET UP) is this weird 4 square setup they did to me...and they do to everyone at a dealership. It’s another distraction tactic, that they will use to distract you from getting a good price on the car. It will look like this:

So the salesman will bring this informal piece of paper out. It’s not a contract, it’s not official, but they’re going to use this paper to pull information from you THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE THEM! At the point they bring this out, you should only be talking about car sales price. So this piece of paper has spaces to write trade in value (if you’re bringing in your old car to trade in), down payment, monthly payment, and car price. Anything that is not the car sales price will be used against you to try and get you to pay more. They’re trying to create the best profit for the dealership.

When I was at the dealership, the salesman kept pushing me to say how much cash I wanted to put down, what kind of monthly payment I wanted (ie. how much money can I spend), (and in my situation, I didn’t have a trade-in car, so discussion about that wasn’t brought up). Practice refusing to answer these questions...I kept saying I did not want to discuss financing or cash down until we could agree to the price of the car. You can also say you prefer to discuss this with the finance manager. He tried to get me to sign this 4-Square paper with a higher price on it than I was given on the phone. Do not sign this, it’s weird. I brought out a paper with a much lower price and asked him to sign off on that price instead. Bring the focus back to the car price. Be prepared to walk out and TELL THEM you will leave if you don’t get the price you want!

which leads me to my next point...

8) DO NOT SAY YOU ARE PAYING CASH. Do not say how much cash you have, do not discuss HOW you are paying at any point with the salesman. After you can agree to a favorable price on the car, you’ll be handed to a finance manager in another room. The salesman is NOT the finance officer. You should not tell your salesman your financial details. If anything, you only have to give the salesman VERY BASIC details so they can run a credit check before handing you to the finance manager.

and below....here is a WHY YOU SHOULDN’T DISCUSS HOW YOU’RE PAYING WITH THE SALESMAN.

9) Dealers can make a lot of money off a car loan...if you finance through them. Make them believe in the possibility that you might finance through them. They might give you a lower price on the car because they might assume they can get ya with a high APR or long term payment...which will bring them money in the long term. Don’t tell them you’re financing through your bank/credit union before you settle on the car price! In some cases though, a dealership might be able to give you a better deal thank your bank. You can say, “Why don’t you run my credit and see what you can offer me” and then see if it’s better than what your bank/credit union can give you. They also might test you with a high APR, even if you qualify for a lower APR (just to see if you’ll take it), and might even use details of your credit report against you...

10) If you have a trade in, they will also try to make a profit from not giving you enough $$ for your old car. Get a price quote from Carmax and check the Kelly Blue Book value beforehand to see if they’re giving you a good price. If it’s not good enough, you might want to consider walking away from the dealership and just selling to Carmax. Because of online transparency and easy access to prices of cars, they will try to make money in other areas OTHER THAN the car price, and this is one of them.

11) After you’ve settled on the price of the car and they’ve run your credit, you’ll be moved from the salesman to the finance office...where you’ll be signing contracts and discussing other add-ons, (warranties, insurances, protections etc.) When you’re in the finance office, DONT BUY ANY ADD ONS THE DAY YOU BUY YOUR CAR. If you decide to, research a good price for what they offer you. You can call the dealership and ask to speak to the finance manager ahead of time and ask what additional items you may be offered. These might be paint protection, tire protection, extended warranties, gap insurance etc. When they offer these things to you, they are often overpriced. You can also get these later, or get these elsewhere for a better price. Research ahead of time to see what’s right for you and don’t try to figure it out unprepared because they will try to convince you.

That concludes my numbered dealership tips! I probably left some stuff out, so please continue to do your research.

This podcast episode from This American Life, 129 Cars, illustrates the importance of using timing and desperation on the part of salespeople to your advantage. This is a longer listen, over an hour long, but it follows salespeople during their work day as they try to meet their monthly quota in order to reach their sales bonus. Towards the end of the month can be an ideal buying time because dealerships may be willing to take a loss or make no commission from a sale because if they’re able to reach their quota, they will either...not be fired, or they may receive a sizeable bonus. Overall, TIMING can be key in getting a good deal. Dealerships also have yearly sales quotas, so if you can wait, you may be able to get a better deal on a car towards the end of the year.

As well, I recommend a Monday/weekday since dealerships are least busy during this time. AND! If you need to contact your bank, it might be impossible on the weekend. Because of coronavirus, operating hours for banks/credit unions have been shortened so if you need to finalize some financing details or ask your bank/credit union questions, make sure you’re able to do so when needed! I ran into this problem and was delayed because my credit union was closing early.

One last tip! You also will also need to insure this new car so call your car insurance carrier and let them know you’re car shopping and they can help you add the new car to your current policy, or change your current insurance. You car insurance might increase or decrease with the addition of a new car. And if you’re getting a car with a higher value, you might want to consider adding more coverage to your current coverage. The dealership might give you free temporary insurance so you can drive the car off the lot with coverage. When I called my insurance carrier to add this new car onto my policy, it didn’t take effect until midnight that night so the dealership gave me temporary insurance just in case something happened on the drive home. You legally do need insurance to drive it off the lot or if you’ve never been insured before. So if you’re currently on somebody else’s policy, get some quotes from different insurance carriers and try to get an idea of the future cost.

Those are all my tips! This took a lot longer than I thought, heh heh, but I seriously hope this helps someone because buying a car is a HUGE DEAL and there’s so much potential to get taken advantage of due to the lack of transparency!!! There’s a lot more I could have covered so I encourage you to take more time to do more research! And good luck if you plan on buying a car soon!

Pairing: Yoongi x Reader & Taehyung x Reader

Min Yoongi had gone through 34 secretaries in the past 24 months, and each one of them left in tears. This fact alone should have warned you against taking the job, but the pay was too good to pass up. Surely you could put up with a billionaires temper-tantrums, right?

Genre: Fluff, humor, probably some angst. Borderline crack at times

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Namjoon folded his arms, glaring at Yoongi. His boss, however, didn’t seem particularly phased and continued pretending to be busy--he was really playing solitaire until Namjoon left. He had hoped that this would make Namjoon worried he was wasting his time and would deter him from sticking around in Yoongi’s office longer than necessary, but had no such luck.

Yoongi was sure this strategy would have worked a month ago, but recently all of his employees seemed to have lost their minds a bit. Yoongi blamed that partially on you, but suspected it was mostly a coincidence. Probably.

“I’m not,” Yoongi sighed, taking off his glasses to rub his eyes before frowning at the head of human resources. “I wish I was, but you’re jut going to have to trust me when I say that it’s complicated.”

“But to hire Taehyung?” Namjoon hadn’t sat down when he entered the room, and was now awkwardly standing in front of Yoongi’s desk. Yoongi saw his eyes dart towards the chair, hoping Yoongi would ask him to sit. He didn’t.

“Yes, hire Taehyung. Give him some job where he won’t be in the way. It won’t be permanent,” Yoongi was really going to have to talk to you about letting people into his office. He very much preferred it when you did all the work of explaining things to people and then later informed him of what was going on.

“This is an insult to my job,” Namjoon snapped, but Yoongi didn’t miss the hesitation in his voice--he knew better than to question Yoongi or to lose his temper. Yet, here he was, seeing just how far he could push before Yoongi lost it.

Namjoon was the second employee that day to snap at Yoongi, and he didn’t much care for it. Yes, this was definitely your fault--before you started working for him, everyone was scared that one wrong word would get them fired. Now, everyone had seen firsthand that Yoongi would put up with a lot more than he let on, and they were taking advantage of it.

Yoongi frowned. “Namjoon--”

“No, I’m serious,” He interrupted. “I take pride in finding the best qualified people possible to work for you, and I don’t appreciate you stepping in and telling me to hire someone without even interviewing them. It would be different if you thought he would be good in some particular position, but no. You just want me to hire him and give him any job.”

If Namjoon wasn’t so valuable, Yoongi would have threatened to have him fired, but they both knew there wasn’t anyone better for his job. And it Namjoon wasn’t really wrong, anyway--Yoongi just really, really wasn’t in the mood to hear it.

“If you want to see his credentials, ask Taehyung for them. He has them,” Yoongi sighed.

“You said yourself he doesn’t know the first thing about what we do here--” Namjoon started, but Yoongi held up a hand for him to stop.

“I lied,” He said flatly. Namjoon fumed and sputtered for a second, and luckily for Yoongi, someone knocked on the office door before he could think of something to say.

You stuck your head in without waiting for an answer, glancing from Namjoon to Yoongi. “Sorry to interrupt, but can I talk to you for a second, Yoongi?”

Yoongi didn’t really like the sound of that. You weren’t the sort of person who asked if you could talk to him, you just did, whether he liked it or not.

“Yeah, I was just leaving,” Namjoon seethed, brushing past you as he left, not even bothering to close the door. Yoongi suddenly wanted him to stay, but it was too late.

You bit your lip, and Yoongi cleared his throat. “What?”

“It’s about the counterfeit,” You said as you sat down across from Yoongi. “I uh... I think I was wrong about Jimin.”

“Yeah, me too,” Yoongi nodded. “It didn’t make any sense, to be perfectly honest with you.”

You looked like you wanted to argue for a moment, but changed your mind. “Yeah, well...”

“So, who do you think is behind it, then?” Yoongi asked, wondering if you’d come to the same conclusion he had.

“I don’t...” You started, a frown creasing your brow. “I don’t want to just... Accuse anyone else. And I don’t really think I’m right, I just--”

“My god, what is wrong with you today?” Yoongi snapped, regretting it almost instantly. Your expression changed, going from worried to cold and hard. Part of Yoongi wanted to apologize, to explain that he didn’t mean it the way it sounded--you were just acting really strange and it was concerning.

You seemed to debate whether or not to even continue talking for a second. “Jungkook was the one who suggested that I get half of the money, and the only one other than Seokjin who knew about it--”

“Wait, you think Jungkook took it?” Yoongi interrupted.

“He didn’t exactly discourage me from spending it, and it’s possible he could have swapped the actual money for counterfeit--he had plenty of time to plan it, right? And then I left him alone with it...”

You hadn’t come to the same conclusion, then. He didn’t feel like arguing with you, though. “It’s easy enough to find out if you’re right. When do you think he swapped it?”

You shook your head. “It’s not that I think he did, only that it’s a possibility...” You thought for a second, biting your lip again. “Around lunch? When Vanessa came in.”

Yoongi nodded, pushing his chair so it rolled closer to the phone. It only took a minute-long conversation with security for the video footage of the office to be sent to his computer.

“You have security cameras watching even your most trusted employees?” You scoffed, and Yoongi sighed.

“It’s not like they’re hidden.” And it wasn’t as if he ever watched them, either. The only time the videos were reviewed by anyone were situations like this, but Yoongi decided now wasn’t the time to point that out.

He turned his computer screen so you could see it too, clicking play on the file. Your desk was hardly even in the shot, and the quality so bad that if you hadn’t already known who the three people at it were, you wouldn’t have been able to tell.

You watched as your figure marched into Yoongi’s office, and Jungkook took a seat on top of your desk, not bothering to move any of the papers on it first. It looked like he and Vanessa were chatting about something, Jungkook throwing his head back and laughing and she folding her arms and turning away slightly. She must not have liked what he had to say.

Jungkook then picked up a piece of paper and began folding it into a paper airplane, throwing it unceremoniously at Vanessa who swatted it away.

You then reemerged from the office, Vanessa walked in, and Yoongi stopped the video.

You sat back in your chair, not noticing that Yoongi’s eyes were fixed over your shoulder. Jungkook hadn’t touched the money. Of course he hadn’t. Why would he have?

“Y/n...” Yoongi started, nodding his head to the side.

“I know I was wrong about him, you don’t have to tell me,” You snapped. You felt awful for even questioning Jungkook. “But you have to admit Jungkook could have been a suspect...”

“No, I mean...” Yoongi nodded more forcefully, and you finally realized he was trying to tell you something. You followed his eyes to the door where Jungkook was standing awkwardly.

“Bad time?” He guessed. You had no idea how long he’d been there, but judging by the cold stare he was giving you, he was there long enough.

“Jungkook--” You started, but he interrupted.

“I came over to say that I sorted the car dealership thing out,” He said blandly. He made as though he was going to leave, then turned back with a sort of twisted smile. “You know what, Yoongi, forget what I said earlier. You two deserve each other.”

Jungkook left, and you sat in shock for a moment. “I...” You shook your head in an attempt to clear it. “What did he say earlier?”

Yoongi met your eyes evenly, swallowing almost imperceptibly. “I don’t remember, you should ask him.” He was pretty sure you didn’t listen to his answer though, getting up to chase after Jungkook without so much as a backwards glance.

Although Yoongi didn’t want to admit it, there wasn’t much denying that despite what Jungkook had just said, he was right when he told Yoongi he was bad for you. If he’d just told you Seokjin was the one behind the counterfeit when you first came in, that Jimin really had given him the ten thousand and Seokjin kept every cent of it, this whole thing would have been avoided.

Jungkook wasn’t speaking to you. You weren’t really surprised by this, but it did make working on the tenth floor a little more miserable.

Seokjin was abruptly demoted and now worked on the ninth floor, and you heard through Hoseok what had happened. Apparently when Jungkook suggested that you should get part of the money, Seokjin saw an opportunity to play what he considered a “harmless prank.” He claimed that he expected you to figure it out the moment he gave it to you, and that he hadn’t meant for it to get so out of hand.

Taehyung, of all people, had taken Seokjin’s place as head of marketing.

Under other circumstances, you might have asked Yoongi why this was, but he seemed to have made it his personal mission to distance himself as far from you as possible. He even sent you emails instead of speaking to you verbally, which was oddly irksome.

It was funny, since the day you started working for Yoongi, you wished to be left alone, but now that you found yourself eating your lunch alone in the breakroom for the fifth work-day in a row, you were even starting to miss Jimin’s snarky comments.

You were vaguely aware of small footsteps approaching as you pushed your salad idly around, but didn’t look up until an equally small hand tugged on your pant leg.

A child no more than five stared up at you, her big eyes determined as she held out a juice box expectantly.

“Open this,” She demanded. You blinked at her as she shook the box for emphasis. You nodded, taking it from her and pulling the straw off the side as she climbed up into the chair beside you.

“Could you tell me what you’re doing here?” You asked, looking around for someone who might be her parent.

The little girl nodded as she snatched the juice out of your hand, taking a long sip before answering. “Mrs. Fletcher said I can’t come back to pre-k because I bite everyone.”

“Ooh...” You said as though that explained anything. “What’s your name?”

“Zoe,” She said, drinking more before making a face and slamming it down on the table. “This is too cold.”

“Zoe,” You said gently. “Are your parents around?”

“Do you wanna hear me sing?” She asked, ignoring you completely. She didn’t wait for an answer and immediately diving into a song about vegetables.

A/N Lol it’s been a minute. Thank you for reading, and for sticking around with me even though I haven’t been active. The second most-requested that I update is FOW, which’ll be updated... eventually... I’ve re-written the entire plotline, so what I’ve decided to do is edit it, finish it, and then re-post it as one big one-shot. It’ll be worth it in the end.

Our pleasure but mainly working 2016 #fordtransitconnect #truck have had some problems beginning this year. Warranty expired. I already spent more than $1000 on maintenance & fixing little problems here & there. I figured that I would spent more in coming years on maintenance. So, I started looking for a trade-in since Feb. Saw some potential, but hold off. Covid-19 happened and saw Ford dealers (1.5 hrs drive away from home) advertised 0% interest. Same type of truck but more addition & upgrades. That raised my interest, but still hold off. Today, I drove 2 hrs for a job. On my way back, I decided to stop over at the Dealership to see that truck as I was in that area. Just curious.No planning to buy or anything. Just look. After discussing with the agent, they offered me $9000 for my old truck to trade in. I told them, it should worth more than that. I will go back home, unload my tools, clean it up, then bring it back to value again. So, I drove home. About 10 mins later, my fuel tank was red. So, I turned onto a gas Station to fuel. My ph rang. It's the dealership. They offered me $10,000 for trade-in. I said YES. I am coming back. Yep, I returned with the empty tank (saving me $30 on fuel). While they ran through all the paper works, the dealership has a basketball hoop inside the building. If a customer can shoot in 5 balls from 5 different positions, he/she will win 5 prices. If miss one, he/she will only select 1 price out of the 5. Prices were small addition stuff like tint window, all weather floor mat, etc. I had not touch or throw a basketball ball since 2004. But, I slot in the 1st 4 but missed the last one. So, I choosed the all weather floor mat. How exciting. Lots to talk about, but my story is about SAVING $ IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES. I know, $ is stretch thin everywhere, and it is hard for so many & for the next few weeks or months. BUT, you can SAVE $ in the long run from your current expenses. 10/18/17 Journal

So I didn’t write one of these for yesterday, but basically, I went to class, wasn’t hungry all day, but still ate something. Picked up my car from the dealership and let them rob me ☹️. Then drove home and tried not to cry while I studied for my tests tomorrow 🙃 I’m actually not as stressed as I’d normally be and I’m hoping I’m overestimating how hard these tests will be. I’m sure it’ll be fine though…

Anyway, this morning, I went to the gym. My eyes were significantly less swollen, but they were a little discolored. Got in a pretty good workout, left and filled up my tank (more money gone 😭).

Then I got ready for and went to work. It was crazy busy today because we had a huge sale going on. But it’s kinda nice to stay busy. I had my lunch around 12:45-1. I only ate because I had a headache. Then I did a little (lot) of shopping when I got off at 4. I spent $90 (😭) and bought some cleanser, lotion, 2 protein powders, and more magnesium supplement. Ugh 😑 why do I do this?

When I came home I ate another meal prepped meal, relaxed for about 15 min, and then got to making my cheat sheet for my test. Which is more for review, but it took me like 3 hours 😞. I essentially didn’t study for my other test 😂 which I actually don’t feel bad about because I got a 98% on the first test in that class.

One thing I do wanna mention really quick was that I woke up today at just 142.6# and when I got home from work and weighted myself after eating I was still under 145. Which I would have killed for a couple of days ago. But I feel so gross and bloated and fat still??? Like I’m 4# away from my lowest recorded weight, when I felt so confident, and I still feel like a smashed bag of assholes? Ugh 😞 I just have no appetite and I only eat because I think I probably should. And not even peanut butter is enticing to me anymore?? Like ya, I could still probably eat an entire jar, but I’m not hungry for it, I’m not craving it like I used to. Idk, I just feel like I could basically exist off of gum and coffee at this point, but I don’t think I’m gonna try that (yet).

Lol I said I’d keep this short, yet here’s another novel. I should go to bed, I need to rest for my tests tomorrow. ✌️ good night, and stay safe 🖤🖤

Reporting My Stolen Plate <<Rant>>

I bought a car back in October and finally got my first PA plate. The dealership put on one of those stupid “Buy cars from us!” license plate frames on it. I hated it, but I didn’t do anything about it, mostly because I’m lazy and when I went to my car it was to go places, not to fiddle with plate decoration. After driving through Canada I realized how much I really hated that license plate frame and made a decision to take it off at some point this week. It was on my list of things to do today. I had my multi-tool ready and I was going to make the switch when I finished with work this afternoon. I was going through my trunk when I noticed... the license plate frame was gone! I was a little confused, “maybe my room mate took it off for me? He’s super sweet and heard me complain about it on the trip.” But then I noticed something weirder! It was a New Jersey plate on my car! I had a weird flashback as my car ran through the options, “did I steal someone elses car?” “Is this really my car?” “Did I always have a New Jersey plate, but I just didn’t recognize that because of the stupid frame?” These were all silly conclusions. Someone came in the night and replaced my plate with another one, now deemed, Fake-Plate. This has thrown off my entire day! I googled “What to do if my plate was stolen” and I was shown many forums and blogs of people giving steps to do in other states and people preaching the greatness of locking plate frames, nothing that could help me directly solve my problem. I realized that I needed to report it to the police, but I couldn't believe this was a 911 matter. People are dying out there and getting in car accidents. My car is fine, I’m fine, I just have a Fake-Plate. I found a few numbers to the police districts near me and each time I called the operator said that the number was disconnected. So I found the number 311 which was supposed to get me in touch with non-emergency police in my area.

A girl with a thick accent answered the phone, I couldn’t understand her name. I told her who I was and the situation. and she intermediately barked back, “well we can’t do anything about that!” “Okay, so wh-” “You have to report your missin plate to PENNdot.” “I read that bu-” “Yeah and they gunna tell you to report it stolen to the police.” “That’s wha-” “Yeah! we can’t help you Ima jus fowad you to PENNdot.” She forwarded me to PENNdot.

PENNdot answered me with an automated menu. I just wanted to talk to someone, I wanted to know what I was supposed to do. After waiting for a representative and getting put on hold for 10 min, the machine hung up on me. I dug around online for the phone number and called back. I went through the automated menu this time, maybe if I went through the menu I could get ahold of someone useful. I was wrong. The menu told me that I needed the form that I had already found on the internet and that they could fax it to me! It didn’t say anything about what to do with a stolen plate. I hung up then called the number back. I waited for a representative. This time the soothing automated voice said that everyone was busy at the moment and they should get to me in 10 minutes. “That isn’t too long,” I said to myself, “I’ll wait, it’ll be fine.” I waited for 27 minutes before a nice woman answered, the phone was breaking up, I didn’t catch her name. She listened to me and said that she could forward me to the correct department, but that she personally couldn’t help me. I was happy to finally be put in the right direction and thanked her for being so helpful. I try to be nice to customer service people, I understand that sometimes the internet lies and they’re not the individual that can help me, patience is integral to this level of Zen. But at this point these phone calls and internet searches have taken an hour and a half out of my work day. I get paid hourly, this really isn’t a feasible option. I assumed that since I was being transferred within the company that the person I was being transferred to would answer pretty immediately. But I was wrong. I stayed on hold for another 40 min. In this time: I downloaded the form I needed to mail to a department over 3 hours away, checked my email, and filled out reviews for activities I’ve recently done. FINALLY a woman named Renee answered. Renee had the voice of a 30-year old fat white woman who didn’t want to talk to anyone. The way she phrased things made her sound like she thought she was smarter than she was and expected everyone to be smarter than they were.

I explained the situation and asked, “What am I supposed to do?”

Her response, “I can’t help you with any of this, you need to file a report with the local police.” “I tried that, none of those numbers worked and when I called 311 they forwarded me to you.” “Well I can’t help you.” “Could you point me in the right direction?” “Call your local police department. Once they get a report they forward the information to us and that’s how it gets handled.” “Could you take down the information to have on hand so it’s recorded that I’m trying to solve this?” “No, you need to file a report with your local police.” “Okay, fine,” I was getting frustrated at this point, I had been on hold for an hour and this was the most she could give me, “Do I call the local police department near my work, where my car currently is? or the department near my house where the car is registered?” “I don’t know where you are, whoever is local.” “Local to what?” “You could always just google it, do you currently have access to the internet.” “Yes, but I tried that and they told me to call you!” “Well they were wrong, you need to file a report with your local police department.” “Local to my current location? or local to my house?” “Google it” “I’ve been on hold for at least 40 minutes and you can’t even get me a number for who to call?” --Renee hung up on me--

Trying to keep calm, I dug around on google for another police department, one that I hadn’t tried to call before. A sergeant answered. She sounded nice and knowledgeable even though I don’t remember her name. I explained the situation to her. She told me that I needed to hang up and call 911 and that I could file a report there.

I called 911. I explained the situation. The officer said took down my information and said that someone would call me back soon to file a report.

15 min later.

Officer Rodriguez, a straight forward woman, called me. Every couple of seconds a loud beep rang over the line. Her voice was breaking up, but I was on a headset with a mic so I wasn’t too concerned. She asked for my license plate number. I gave it to her and then spelled it out with the military phonetic alphabet. She ran a search and said that the car wasn’t in their system. I said the plate number back to her and told her that I bought the car last October. She read back what she thought I said and said that the plate wasn’t in her system. I told her that she must not be getting the number correct and I called the letters back to her phonetically. After this back and forth we realized that she had been replacing the “F” (Foxtrot) with “S” (Sierra but she called it Sam) and I was annoyed that this little circus girl knew the phonetic alphabet, but her, an officer of the law, didn’t. She said she had a hard time hearing me. I mentioned the Beep. She said the Beep was her phone and that I needed to calm down. I was calm? I had also specifically stepped out of the room to be in a quieter space for her to take my information.

She gave me a report number and I asked what I needed to do next. She said that I needed to get in touch with PENNdot. -.-

I filed a report online with PENNdot and got the documentation printed that I needed to mail to them.

Officer Rodriguez called me back 10 min later. She forgot to ask for my name and Birthdate.

I have lost faith in the competence of the police and PENNdot. It’s Tuesday. Why are people this frustrated and rude? I feel like this circumstance shouldn’t be this complicated.

1. find you original plate number & information.

2. call 911 and calmly explain the situation. An officer will call you back and file a report over the phone.

3. go online and find the MV-44 form. Print it, fill it out, and mail it to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Bureau of Motor Vehicles Harrisburg, PA 17104-2516

4. Wait for your new plate and registration to come in the mail.

Sorry it’s long af and probably confusing

‘Ok so my sister lol she’s not dumb but I definitely think she has daddy issues. Her first real bf is the father of her 3 kids. When my sister got with him she started acting weird towards my family. They ended up getting a place together when their first child was born. After that, we couldn’t even come visit or even get inside the place if he was there. This happened for a good 2 years. They had their second child and I didn’t even really know my niece. Which is crazy because she got extremely attached to me when I did get to be around her. But after my niece was born he stopped coming home and my sister would literally cook for his dumb ass and he wouldn’t even eat the food. He can raise his voice at my sister but as soon as she gets loud he’s asking her who is she talking to?? And she would say nobody. Like that shit used to piss me off!! So it’s a small world and my mom does daycare so she started keeping this child and the child’s mother started noticing my sisters bfs car at her friends house. The way my sister put it was that the girl he was caught with was actually his gf and my sister was gf #2?? This nigga was raising 2 other kids behind my sisters back. My sister was paying all the bills and still let him stay with her. And my brother caught him at a hotel with a girl before lmao. So her bf has 6 sisters. And it got to a point that he tried to set my sister up to be jumped by his sisters and his mother even tried to fight my mother. I have 5 brothers lol and 16 nieces and nephews, all 24 and under. We don’t play that bs! So he basically said he only did it because he thought my sister was gonna get our brothers on him. We don’t even try to bring our family into drama 🙄. He’s done this more than once btw. Anyways she’s still with him. Fast forward to about 2 years ago, my sister and I were at my friends house drinking and stuff and I didn’t take her home until 5am (She doesn’t drive and didn’t have a car) which he played her because he got a new car and promised her his old car but when they were at the dealership and signed the final papers, he threw the keys to his fucking cousin. Smh but anyways I didn’t get her home until 5 and when we got there he held the door down and she couldn’t even get in! Like she tried for about 10 mins and he would not let her get in to the place she pays the bills for. I know I keep getting side tracked but he has done so much to my sister that it’s not even funny. He literally used to stalk her when we were together. Like literally pull up on her wherever we were and her whole mood would just change and used to hate that shit. He used to try to not give my niece and nephew to her if she let them go with him. And my sister is super dramatic, panicking at anything that goes wrong. But even after that she stall stuck around and ended up pregnant again!!!! She ended up pregnant and all this time he was still Messing around on her. He stopped coming to her house and she ended up moving out while he was at work. She was basically hidden from him but she ended up letting him find out where she was because she always has horrible pregnancies and he literally would not take her to doctors appointments or to grocery shop or anything that NEEDED to be done. After she came out of hiding she moved away and went into hiding again because her ho ass was talking to another guy lmao, and she literally got an apartment so this new guy could move in???? Anyways that was that and she only lived there for like a half a year and she had the new baby. He’s 11 months now (the foodie baby I told you about) and her bd has only seen that baby a good 10 times. He didn’t even claim him. He stopped seeing the other 2 kids and was literally telling my sister to give him a break. Like my sister does EVERYTHING!!! He gave my sister a hard time about keeping them so she could attend my grandmothers funeral. But his mom actually kept them thank God but anyways let’s fast forward to last night. This broad went and got a room with this nigga!!! Oh and when she threatened to put him on child support because he was literally no help. Wouldn’t even give my sister a few hour break when she needed one. He told her he’ll give up his license and quit his job because he knew his family would take care of him. Now she’s in a rush to get another apartment so they can live together again. Maybe she is dumb??’

This would make a hell of a good story, just saying. lol I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. 😅 First of all, your sister is not dumb at all. This was all just the perfect example of how much power a man can have over a woman. Evidently she’s just, unfortunately, in love with this guy. Now it may never make sense to most of us why females do shit like this, like... you know this man is manipulating/controlling you, cheating on you, lying to you, emotionally abusing you, raising a whole ass family behind your back while ensuring he got a permanent place to lay his head at YOUR house... I mean the list goes on! The unfortunate truth to situations like this is that once a woman gets too comfortable, no matter the situation, it’s often difficult to walk away... even when the situation is toxic.

I’m truly praying for your sister. What scares me for her is that of all the horrible shit you described her going through with this guy, she still doesn’t seem to have reached a significant breaking point. She’s brought all these kids into this world with him, but still doesn’t see that not only is this entire thing extremely toxic for her... it’s toxic for those babies. Ugh, this frustrates me... it really does. And what made me even madder was when I got all the way toward the bottom, thinking you were gonna say something about how as of today she’s not with him anymore... only to see ‘Now she’s in a rush to get another apartment so they can live together again.’ no sissy, nooooooo! 😩😭

Well money is tight right now and I'm shopping around for a new auto insurance. I live in CA and so far the cheapest one I've found is Mercury insurance. I was playing around with the different personal criteria having fun wondering if having a different profession or having a college degree would change the premium. I found one option significantly changed the price and that was if I selected a different location where I principally garaged my car. The premium changed by about $200 for a year of coverage. It was based on zip code and I put the one that I used while I was in college which is in northern CA but I m in southern CA. Would the insurance company ever find out about that or how would they know? I could make some excuse if it came down to it like I intended to park there since I was planning on attending graduate school there. I don't know if the insurance company could not cover me if they found this out. I don't know what to do. $200 is a lot now.

At this point I was a bit suspicious and the amount seemed very high for what I thought was not a lot of damage but at the same time he said that he either wanted to do it like that or through the insurance and I really didn't want to loose my no-claims discount as insurance for young male drivers is very high without the no-claims. In the end I decided to pay him, not without a certain bitterness owing to the fact that he was pressuring me for an immediate decision, which also made me suspicious. Having sent the cheque for 400, he kept up communications initially and let me know that he'd received it. He said that he would send me a copy of the receipt from the garage for my records but once he received the cheque I never heard back and now cannot get a reply. Bit long-winded for a question but that's the background story, my question is two-fold: 1. Can I do anything about it? It's more the principle than the money that bothers me, I know that I caused damage to his car but I now suspect it wasn't as much as he claimed. 2. Does 400 sound like too much or should I stop worrying about it? I hit the back corner of his car with the back corner of mine, and he later told me that I had cracked the rear bumper, which needed replacing. I'm not sure of the make of the car but I think it may have been a Ford Fiesta or something similar. I would really appreciate any help as it's weighing on my mind... I have been offered a job working as a delivery driver for domino's. Currently my car insurance only covers domestic and personal use and not business. The domino's contract says drivers are responsible for ensuring they have the correct insurance but also says they have third party cover. Does this mean they cover the business side or do I still need to get business use insurance as well? If this is the case my insurance is likely to be bumped up by at least 800 a year! Not really worth accepting this job when its only for the summer then is it.
