Another day of drowning oneself in work. Another day as an Investigator of Special Case. Another dull day in the life of Min Yoongi, but maybe today was about to be a day worth the extra effort he put into waking up, getting ready, walking down the same path to KCCG, and working.

As per usual, Yoongi turned on his PC and made his way to the small pantry at the corner of his room to brew himself a cup of coffee. He remembered how the very corner of his office was just an empty space, but you had proposed to Jungkook to establish a personal pantry at each investigator’s office.

Honestly, that might be the best proposition you had come up with because Yoongi himself wouldn’t want to cramp himself in a pantry that was not even as big as his office and not every floor has a pantry. The thought of interacting with another creature irked him.

Plus, KCCG was an edifice.

Yoongi walked back to his desk which he didn’t even bother to clean up. It was messy because it was scattered in its place. His desk was pretty much similar to yours: filled with paperwork even though neither the two of you were a bureau investigator.

Settling himself comfortably on his seat with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in his hand, his free hand reached for the computer mouse and dragged it until the cursor on the screen reached the destination, the mail.

First thing first before Yoongi started his work, he would always check his emails.

Once the screen loaded, his emails never failed to impress him. He received more than five hundred emails every day, but of course, to make his life much easier, KCCG included a priority function when sending emails within the organisation.

Hence, immediately he clicked on the ‘High Priority’ folder with the striking bold red exclamation mark.

“Addition to Q Squad.” the title read. That unconsciously made his brow lift.

From Chief Director of Division 1, Kim Namjoon. Of course, his soulmate.

Skipping all the formal opening and greeting, the email read as below:

Leader : Investigator of Special Class, Min Yoongi.

Existing Members : Associate Investigator of Special Class, Kim Seokjin, First Class Investigator(s), Lalisa, Kim Jisoo.

New Addition : Associate Investigator of Special Class, Jeon (Y/N) Kishou.

Yoongi scoffed boringly but a muscle was quick to twitch hence a smirk found its way to tug on the corner of his lips.

The clock had just hit 7:30 A.M. and the email had a carbon copy sent to one of his favourite soulmates. Yoongi leaned in his leather chair comfortably. Sipping his coffee with a little too much excitement in his veins.

The extra effort was worth it surely.

One,

Two,

Three.

The door was slammed open, and it was the very person he was expecting for.

Jimin.

“Oh, Jimin,” his eyes widened a bit, as he gasped as if not expecting his soulmate. “To what do I owe the pleasure of having you here first thing in the morning?”

“Appeal.” Jimin said coolly.

“Appeal what exactly?” Yoongi feigned cluelessness.

“You’ve read the email, Min Yoongi.” The fire behind Jimin’s eyes made the older excited. Jimin gave him a frosty look as he enunciated. “Appeal. For. Rejection.”

Yoongi frowned foolishly followed by a shrug. “I have no reason to reject (Y/N) to be in my team.” He has.

“Oh, you sure do,” Jimin started to saunter around the room. “Reason number one being you can’t even be anywhere with her presence for more than 30 minutes before you quickly find an excuse to leave. Two, you hate her, she hates you. Three, you guys avoid each other.”

Jimin strode towards Yoongi’s desk, hands on it. With his voice thick with mockery, he announced the last reason. “Lastly, you can’t handle her.”

Yoongi looked unimpressed.

Or at least he tried to look unimpressed.

Taking a sip of his coffee, he groaned when the rich flavour reached the back of his throat. He propped an arm on the desk and rested his chin on it.

Aloofly, he spoke. “One, 30 minutes is the time I allocated for every meeting except for our soulmates. Two, I have never verbally told anyone and her I hate her, nor have I ever heard her verbally announcing her hatred towards me to anyone or me. Three, we don’t. I just met her three days ago.”

Yoongi then propped his other arm on the table as well and connected his fingers. “Lastly, it’s you who can’t handle her.” With a mocking smile. “Or else why would she be handed over to someone else aka me, hmm?”

“Don’t blame others for your incompetency.” The smile was gone, and every trace of excitement vanished and was replaced with his cold, deadly stare.

“You don’t know anything, Yoongi.” Jimin narrowed his eyes at him. “Don’t run your mouth about something you have zero knowledge of.”

“That’s why I’m saying things only I, and I only, have knowledge of.”

“You’re infuriating.” He groaned.

“I know that.” Yoongi acknowledged with a shrug. He raised from his seat and made his way, again, to the pantry to make himself another cup of coffee. With a very dismissive tone, he told Jimin. “Now, will you excuse yourself? I need to welcome my new team member.”

“Fuck you.” Jimin chided.

Yoongi was quick to retort. “I’d rather fuck your arse.”

“You–”

The door was pushed open. Jimin’s remark was cut off. His face was heating up and Yoongi resumed making his coffee without care.

The second person Yoongi has been expecting.

“Good…” Your greeting was stuck on the tip of your tongue when you saw Jimin in your new mentor’s office. He looked like he didn’t expect you to be here too. But what could be done? Namjoon sent you an email this morning informing your new placement in another squad. Specifically speaking, Yoongi’s squad: Q Squad.

“Good morning, (Y/N).” Yoongi greeted you which was, by the way, extremely out of character. He even looked your way.

You immediately bowed and redo your greeting. “Good morning, Investigator Min.”

Your new mentor then raised his eyebrow at your former mentor. “Well, Jimin, what are you waiting for? This is your cue to leave.”

Jimin’s right eye twitched uncontrollably but a smirk found its way to his plump lips. With a controlled voice, he managed out a “As you wish, Min.” and spread the paperwork on Yoongi’s desk into an even messier mess which the older stared at in horror.

Petty and childish…

As he passed by you, you expressed your valediction with a bow. “Have a good day, Investigator Pa–”

Jimin grabbed you by the forearm and dragged you out with him.

Before getting dragged out of the office completely, you saw your mentor’s horrified expression was replaced with his casual smirk.

Why does he have to be so unreadable?

“Investigator Park–!” You tried to pull back your arms. Although you knew it was a futile effort, it didn’t hurt to try.

Jimin halted, resulting you to bump into his hard chest instead of his back as he had spun very quickly. His hands snaked around your waist, holding you close to him. Realising your face and his face might be in close proximity, you tried to at least pull back your head to create some distance.

“Say my name.”

You frowned and accidentally met his eyes. Quickly turning away to break the eye contact, you tried to wiggle your way out of his arms. “What–”

His hand found its way to your neck, putting on light pressure. You knew he hated it when you avoid eye contact. He and Jungkook were like that. Face hard with a low voice and hint of annoyance, Jimin repeated. “Say. My. Name.”

Your eyes flickered at his voice, but your mouth was quick to comply. “J–Jimin…”

“Good girl.” His thumb found its way to your lips. He smudged your lipstick and dragged it a little out of place. Your hands were frozen. Jimin then brought his thumb and smudge the lipstick stain on his own lips. “Now, let’s meet Namjoon to switch you back into my team.”

“Switch who back into your team?” Namjoon

Eyes widening, you pushed Jimin away to get out of this compromising position. “Director Kim, Jeon.” You immediately bowed and greeted them.

“I want (Y/N) back in my team again.” Jimin declared with all seriousness.

“No.” Director Kim declined curtly.

That seemed to twitch a muscle in Jimin’s jaw, but he kept his cool and continued. “And why is that?”

“Hmm, let’s see,” Namjoon feigned pondering. “Experimenting?”

“Stop this crap and switch her back into my team, Namjoon.”

“Is that an order, Jimin?” He glared down at the younger. His voice was deep with authority. “Do I take order from you?”

“Hyung.” Jungkook’s voice finally joined the conversation. He was referring to Namjoon.

The higher Director didn’t need to turn around to catch what Jungkook was intending to say. “I have a reason for this sudden change. It was not done for fun. It was done with careful observation and procedure.”

“Pray tell me the reason.”

“Your latest training session with the Associate Investigator of Special Class, (Y/N).”

Your body went rigid.

“What’s wrong with it?”

“I received complaints from Investigator Mingyu, Special Class, and Investigator Xu Minghao, First Class, that stated the same thing in which you had disturbed their scheduled training session with (Y/N),” he let out a heavy sigh before adding, “I know Jungkook was involved as well. Temporary restraining order has been put on him by me to refrain him from engaging with (Y/N) in any activity unless in public view.”

He continued. “You, however, were not given any restraining order because Jungkook insisted on taking the full blame, but I would hate it to let an accomplice get away freely,” Namjoon turned his gaze towards you. “That’s why I decided to remove (Y/N) from your team.”

He returned his gaze to Jimin. He could see the younger was burning with anger, it was detectable although Jimin was as great as Jungkook in using the art of concealment. They were soulmates, after all.

“Fret not,” Namjoon reassured. “You can do an appeal to request (Y/N) back into your team when Min Yoongi fucked up.”

Jimin was powerless in this situation. He knew. No matter how shit arsehole Min Yoongi was, he was not one to fuck up anything. Q Squad is the leading counter-ghoul squad in KCCG. Min Yoongi was known for his excellent skills individually and collectively. Each week, his team report was always the most impressive followed by Jimin’s team.

“Investigator (Y/N), you may return back to Yoongi’s quarter and proceed with your first team mission in your new team.” Namjoon dismissed you with a smile. His dimple poked through his cheeks. Your heart fluttered against your will. “I expect a good result by the end of the week.”

“Yes, I won’t disappoint you, Director Kim.” Bowing your way out, you walked back to Yoongi’s office. Along the way, you fought the strong urge to turn around because you felt the stares. For one, you knew it has to be Jimin’s.

Knocking on the door, you called out his name before coming in, headfirst. “Investigator Min?”

He has already started with his pile of paperwork. The room reeked of coffee from the amount of coffee he had consumed, and it was just 2 hours into the day. You stepped into the room and walked towards his desk.

“Oh, (Y/N),” Yoongi finally looked up from his paperwork and at you, but confusion was quick to wear itself on his face.

Shamelessly, he asked. “You just finished making up with Jimin?”

“Wha– No!” A blush crept up to your cheeks as you realised why he asked that.

Jimin smudged your lips a little while ago.

Flustered, you quickly looked for the handkerchief in your coat. You remembered you had placed it inside one of the pockets this morning. Excusing yourself as you continued rummaging in your coat for the piece of fabric.

When you finally felt the soft fabric of your handkerchief on your fingertips, before you could even grab it out of your pocket, a piece of soft cloth reached over to your lips, wiping off your lipstick.

“Took you so long to even find a handkerchief,” Yoongi said aloofly.

“I–I apologise,” your eyes looked at anything but his pale face.

Min Yoongi was a beautiful man. His porcelain skin was soft, his eyes dark almost to the colour of black, and his dark raven hair that looked soft and fluffy. He was like a doll.

A killer doll.

When encountering the ghouls, Yoongi was nothing per the delicate description, especially with all the blood on his hands and some that splattered on his face.

His duality was insane.

“Give me your hand.” Yoongi called on you.

A look of confusion was clear on your face, but he ignored it as he showed his palm, signalling you to put your hand on his. You obliged without any question.

Yoongi took out something from his pocket and in a blink of an eye, blood was drawn from one of your fingers. The pain finally registered in your brain as you shrieked and tried to pull back your hand.

He wasn’t letting you.

The pain was not very intense but maybe it would leave a deep wound cut. Instead of putting pressure or even bothering to be concerned, Yoongi brought your bloody finger to your lips. He dabbed your blood from your finger to your lips.

“That’s more natural, isn’t it?” Sadism shone in his eyes.

You were unable to do anything.

Yet again.

As if you were under a spell, you were frozen against your will.

Once Yoongi finished his little game, he released your hand carelessly. The handkerchief in your pocket was immediately retrieved and you put it over your bloody finger along with some pressure to stop further spill of blood.

Only now you realised he had cut your finger with his folding knife.

Yoongi brought the sharp metal to his mouth. Lips parting apart, he placed the knife on the pad of his tongue as he let the blood – your blood – transfer to his tongue. The wet muscle continued to glide on the knife until it was clean of your blood.

“Welcome to Q Squad. Get ready for mission in 4th ward.”

Hi Gina. It just hit me that if Harry was bisexual he would have CO at the beginning of his solo career because there is 0% chance that his team wouldn't have capitalized off it - they capitalize off everything else so why not that? Lol. He would have been encouraged to CO and it would have been a huge boost to his image because he would have appealed to women, men, straights and gays - everyone. He did seem ready to CO after 1D, and when he recorded Medicine the media was reporting that it was a bisexual song and it was his CO... but something changed and the articles were then buried. There's been plenty of times he could have CO as queer, easily with Medicine or even Lights Up. He wouldn't have lost any fans, he would have gained them. They've been pushing this ambiguous image for the whole of his career when it would have been easier for him to just CO as queer, he would have gained more from that. But the fact that he hasn't done it by now when he's had multiple opportunities tells me that he's not in the closet because he's bisexual, it's because he's gay. Being gay isn't as appealing to women (obviously) and he would lose a lot of fans. Although other musicians and actors who have CO have all said that it was worth the career hit, and nowadays it isn't quite as career damaging as it was before. I don't think Harry is in the closet necessarily for privacy reasons because you can CO and still have a private life. I don't know why people take that comment as gospel while dismissing everything else he says. To me it's just a reminder to the gp that he has a private life that is different to his public life. Maybe his closet is more down to the fact that he doesn't like lying and he does it sparingly, which is why he doesn't do many interviews and the ones he does around promo are usually so scripted. So him CO as queer or bisexual wouldn't feel true to himself as a gay man. So maybe he's waiting until he can CO with Louis or another man and not half assed do it. I'm not saying he'll never CO as queer/bi as that is an easier option considering how many beards he has had, but him not doing it much sooner could be down to it not ringing true to him.

Hi sweetheart. I think when he started playing Medicine in concert in 2018 there was a definite push from his team to mark it as a “bisexual anthem”. There were too many articles in major publications at the time for it not to have been syndicated.

Maybe that was seeding an outing that didn’t happen, or maybe they were using the fact that Harry was never going to address it directly to fuel speculation. That way he doesn’t lie, he doesn’t come out, but he’s piqued the interest of queer fans and people who think he’s closeted, still maintains the interest of straight/bi women, and anyone who refuses the idea of him being queer will dig their heels in and battle everyone over it. Voila! Very little risked, very few fans lost, lots of people talking about him, he gets to dress and behave a little more flamboyant when he wants to because now maybe he’s bisexual, and his private life stays private.

As for whether he actually is bisexual, I personally don’t get that impression, but it doesn’t matter to me. He’s somewhere on the spectrum of queer. That seems really clear to me.

And why hasn’t he come out? I don’t think we can possibly guess and I really don’t think we should, TBH. Only he knows what he wants to do and why he’s doing things the way he is. But even if he never discusses his sexuality or who he’s dating, it would make such a difference to see the end of him having these embarrassing PR relationships. But that’s the fan in me talking. His team may feel differently. 🫤

NotD coat progress report, after three days and a lot of backache! My body likes to remind me sometimes that though I generally feel like an overgrown teenager I’m actually middle-aged; the mind is willing but the flesh is at times very definitely weak! I could barely straighten up first thing this morning. 🫤

After being happy with the toile I got everything cut out on Sunday and started putting it together. I didn’t have any seam tape for the roll lines so had to use ribbon instead which works just as well; as you can see above, the front is falling where it should. I interfaced the front pieces as per the instructions but I’m sort of wishing I’d used something softer as it’s a little bit stiff. They actually said to interface all of the shell pieces but that wasn’t going to happen; I don’t know about anyone else but unless your fabric was a very loose weave why on earth would you interface sleeves? I want to move my arms, thank you! I also ended up skipping the interfacing on the front facing as that would have made everything completely inflexible, but which unfortunately meant I had to cut another couple of pieces as I’d already fused the stuff before I changed my mind.

That, however, actually turned out to be a good thing as I had a brainwave and realised I could copy the seam lines on the front of the original coat by splitting the facing piece in two:

Result! I finally got the collar the right length and shape, too.

I was complaining on Sunday about having bought too much fabric yet again only to find out that it was just as well I did when I ruined another set of facings by spending ages making bound buttonholes that I didn’t keep. That meant I had to cut out a third lot, and after that unsurprisingly there’s very little material left! It was also a good job I had a lot of lining spare as I decided to completely recut all of the top half after the sleeves refused to go in properly because I’d had to enlarge the armscye so much. My seam ripper is getting a hell of a workout this week; I battled with those sleeves for ages yesterday, trying to get them to sit in the right place. Got there in the end, but I’m not convinced I won’t have to add a bit extra at the cuffs as they don’t look long enough. We shall see.

I’ve not been able to get very far with the coat shell because I’m waiting for some velvet ribbon I ordered to trim the sleeves. It’s going to be much easier to put that on flat so I’ve had to leave them for the moment and work on the lining instead. You can see it above with the shell on top (please excuse the horrible wrinkles in the back; coats and jackets made to fit me always do that when Stella models them), and below once I’d attached the lining skirts:

In the top photos I’d tucked the shoulder pads underneath to check how they sat; I didn’t do it again, hence the coat hanging slightly differently in the ones underneath.

It does actually often make sense to put the lining together first because you can iron out any further fit issues. For instance, there was too much fullness in the armhole at the back so I had to take some extra in the curved seams to remove it. I also extended the waist darts to make it a bit more shaped at the front ; being female I need that. I don’t see myself ever buttoning it up as it’s not worn that way but there’s plenty of room should I want to at any point; I tried it with my shirt and waistcoat underneath this morning just to make sure.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned the fabric but it’s a heavy cotton drill; I can’t work out what the original is made from and it was hard to find something suitable that was the right colour within my limited budget. It was my intention to use self-cover buttons but as we were going up to our local fabric shop to check out curtains just out of curiosity I had look at what they had to offer and found these:

They’re not identical but are sort of reminiscent of those used on the original coat:

Well, vaguely. I’ll try both and see what looks best!

Now, let’s see whether my ribbon comes tomorrow…

Wouldnt it be easier if you just changed your name legally to the one you preferred, unless you dont want to thats also fine

yeah irish law has no rules for how to change your name like you just decide to. to prove it to legal bodies & stuff there’s a few steps & a small fee & i haven’t tried it but it seems simple.

legal gender is pretty much the same but it’s only male/female as far as i know (TENI are advocating to change that & currently if you’re under 16 legally changing your gender is impossible. don’t let the name laws fool you btw trans care here sucks and needs a massive overhaul. there’s like a 5 year waiting list for HRT & we have no surgeons in the healthcare service who can perform gender affirming surgeries)

but anyway yeah i could & i might but like i said my deadname just gets a blank stare from me it doesn’t make me feel bad enough that i’m in a great hurry plus i’m still shielding i guess? being out out is relatively new to me & there’s LOTS of people i’m not out to. & yeah casper is not a name that i generally look like i belong to (it’s a weird name & i mean,,, i most commonly get gendered as “child” so 🫤) it outs me at the get-go

but i’m also. that’s me! so yeah it would take me a very short time to change my name if i decided to (at least in terms of paperwork & then i’m a pestering little bastard when i want a legal thing done plus my childhood best friend is an entire solicitor (like a lawyer but boring lol) so she could probably help me.) idk it’s more a souce of…. i don’t know amused indifference to me right now? which i know is kind of dumb and i’m a pro at not making eye-contact w how i actually feel about stuff. there’s an element of normal to it though bc i have never ever related to my name or liked people saying it (the fucking euphoria, by the way, of hearing people say a name that means you 🫠🫠🫠)

this is why i refer to myself in the third person sometimes on here btw i just like writing and looking at my name. most days i have it written in the crook of my elbow in blue ballpoint pen. djdbdbdbdb one day someone’ll mistake it for a tattoo & be like “ha is that your ex?” and i’ll say “no it’s me i’m in love with myself actually” and it’ll sound so fucking dumb but maybe it’ll also be true

life update!!

i finally have some free time and havent properly posted something in so long so i thought id write up something!

first of all i want to say that ive successfully fixed my bingewatch problem in late january!! i hate to say it, but seeing how many movies i saw last year in my letterboxd wrapped really concerned me 🫤 i wanted to make an effort to make use of my time properly (after starting a new job and all) and i thought i wont let myself waste time bingeing horrible b-movies just so i can bump up the percent watched in someones filmography (its kinda tricky doing it so i made a resolution to only watch movies which interests me if i want to see more of someone)

with that said, i ended up not watching anything on weekdays and eventually think that staring at my phone for more than an hour wasnt my thing anymore (at least in the context of doing it EVERYDAY). so that may be one of the reasons why the turnaround for my hyperfixations got slower (which i think is good!).

ALSO, i do want to mention that because ive been watching less films recently i initially thought it would be great for my gif making hobby since i wont feel the pressure of wanting to gif so many movies at one sitting. i tried this in early feb and.. well... lets just say that it takes time for my very old laptop to make gifs (i had it since college during the pandemic so it was really used!). i only screen record scenes i want to gif because i hate having to wait to download AND even if i had hq clips it would take my laptop so long to render. so making something lq and having to wait 30mins just for a single gif wasnt doing it for me (bcs i said i wanted to make more use of my time).. so thats the reason why i havent posted anything lately (I REALLY REALLY wanted to make a gifset of josh whitehouse in valley girl but the quality just ended up stressing me 🫠)

and for my last update, as u can tell from my reblogs on queue, i just saw daisy jones and the six and LOVE josh whitehouse and he really got me playing the guitar again 😭😭 (i still think its a miracle!!!). ive been practicing some old pieces i used to perform when i was in high school during my 5-9's and i just had a bizzare idea of getting into the piano. i only ever played classical before, so i always had a problem doing improvs. i spent some time looking at videos on youtube and found out improvs on the piano were waay easier to play and understand, so im gonna buy a keyboard very very soon (which im so excited for)!!!! learning how to do jazz improvs on keys would probably be my new hobby and making gifs would probably be back until i get a new laptop (which at the moment is very low priority 🥲)

JOSH WHITEHOUSE -i find it crazy how most of my hyperfixations are englishmen. but yes. my sweet pookie. i love him. i will try not to talk much bcs if i start i wont stop. but tldr i didnt binge his filmography so i was on his youtube channel for quite some time and spent 15mins a day there... thats maybe the reason i got into playing the guitar again? love his music videos AND love how he plays flamenco. i play classical on the guitar and am a tarrèga girl so i never bothered to learn flamenco (tarrèga hated it) . but knowing just that made me want to at least remember some pieces i used to play just so i can play again... THEN i found out he has a new movie coming up with...

malcolm mcrae: ngl his pretty face caught my eye (special shoutout to anya! literally the power couple)... my first thoughts were like 'ohh i wonder what his character is like in triton'. but then i found out hes in a band SO i was thinking ok hes in a movie w josh so theres probably gonna be something music in it. i then looked up his band and love their songs!! theyre only a duo which i think is p strong (u dont need that many ppl in a band rly!) and i watched some interviews they had too!

KANE RITCHOTTE: my babygirl. my darling. idk what to say abt him. his songs with malcolm are always so magical. ive been playing gods in the details on repeat since early feb. hes my favorite more* member. the literal musical god. im praying hell sing more songs. ALSO i was suprised he did a cameo in daisy jones and the six with malcolm (they were the one who taught some of them how to play their instruments!! i was in awe bcs malcolm was the literal billy dune. LIKE sam claflin really copied his playing style which is so neat!!)

I meant to mention I had to make an ao3 and wattpad bc of the plagiarism getting out of hand, and I just…..really dislike posting on there🫤 its so much easier here. the whole stealing/reposting/editing my stories for non-nct sucks to see too. its tiring to deal with.

its calm, I take my breaks when I need to, and I am very disconnected from the nct writing community sans a couple of friends I made who I keep contact with off of here. I don’t read nct fics and I have no idea whats going on over here, its nice lmao.

I do think I should address that I’m down to maybe 3-4 nct members I even have interest in writing for still😅 not bc I have started to dislike any, I’m just not as attached to too many of them anymore. I’m definitely mostly Jeno focused these days but that could change. so like….this whole “part 2 of *insert fic for someone I do not have a single thought about*” or like……..Teddy Bear continuation includes 2 other members butttttt I do not actively plan to write for them beyond finishing some wips. I don’t know, I used to get really annoyed with the constant “can u write for *insert member*?”(ppl I have never and will never write for) so im like…..if I stop writing some members😅 I think I should announce that? idk

I spent 30 minutes writing a lore infodump for “The valley’s heartbeat” (best name I could think for the Mirabel moves the Encanto au) only for Tumbrl to delete it after I checked the translation of a word 😫🤬. Anyway, here we go (again);

When I said Mirabel’s gift is not only referred to as Casita, but also as The Spirit of the Encanto, my brain was not responding so it mixed “spirit” with SOUL, the word I wanted to use (but this also creates a terrible pun 😖. Guess why)

I realized that he crawl space being soundproofed to the outside would create a plot hole, as Mirabel’s heartbeat would go out from time to time (for Dolores) only o come back later, each change announced by the sound of an unfamiliar heartbeat that only lasts a few seconds. So I don’t know how they would talk to each other and make Dolores hear the wrong bit of the conversation and make her think Mirabel wants to destroy the Encanto. (I need and I would appreciate help with this 😅😬)

As I mentioned before, Mirabel’s gift include space altering powers. Well, my brain went haywire an this happened;

Brain; PORTALS

Me; What?

Brain; MIRABEL WOULD BE ABLE TO CREATE “rabbit holes” ON THE GROUND TO GO FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER (you cannot see the bottom, so only Mirabel knows where they each lead to. She gets better at creating them with time, and she can make them collapse from the inside out, yeeting anything that was still inside through one of the ends), AND MESS AROUND WITH THE NORMAL ROOMS IN LA CASA IN ORDER TO STAY AS FAR FROM ISABELA AND ALMA AS POSIBLE (this is why Bruno get to the kitchen entering through the second floor without any stairs)

Mirabel’s sixth sense can reach over the entire Encanto, but the further things are, the harder she has to focus. She has a 5 meters radius in which she doesn’t need to, but it is restricted to things that are in contact with the ground.

Bruno will probably be Mira’s widowed father

The way things would probably be for her if she revealed her gift would be that she’d have to deal with lazy villagers demanding her to rearrange the entirety of their houses (structure & location included) because;“She can do it with her mind! It takes her no effort at all!”. Wrong 😑. (This is why she mostly helps Luisa around)

PD; I didn’t understand your “she avoids the family to avoid the Encanto falling” train of thought at first, but I do now; If she spends time with the family, Alma yells at her because she’s “distracting them from their duties”. This and arguing with Isabela increase her bottled negative emotions load (she’s way better than Pepa at covering it though. Just like in canon 🫤). So, what her reasoning is; avoiding the family = you don’t get yelled at = maybe you won’t loose it and cause a level 10 earthquake today (today being keyword)

Sure, I can give some tips as a sort of mini-guide for making amvs!

More below the cut!

Deciding on which scene from the show to use is always the hardest part, and so much of it genuinely just boils down to 1) knowing the show very well and 2) luck. I usually begin the amv by creating a very basic “outline”, matching up lyrics from the song to scenes from the show that I thought would match them.

My ability to pick scenes from the show to use in the edit relies HEAVILY on how well I’ve memorized the show/how many times I’ve seen it. You want a scene that matches both the rhythm and the lyrics—meaning that the scene makes sense with what is being said/plays a role in the narrative purpose of the AMV while also matching the musical rhythm with an interesting movement or animation that suits the beat. It’s super intuitive and a lot easier in reality than I’ve made it sound here. If it looks good and makes some sort of sense, that’s all that matters.

However, sometimes I accidentally stumble upon a scene while looking for a DIFFERENT scene that matches much better with the rhythm and the lyrics and is just a lucky, perfect fit, which is why I said that luck also plays a part in it. You’re not gonna be able to feasibly 100% memorize everything in the show, so sometimes you’re just gonna accidentally stumble on a scene that fits twice as well as the one you originally planned to use and change the plan last-minute.

In terms of getting subtitle-free scenes, I specifically seek out and download the dubbed versions of episodes, as they don’t air with built-in subtitles and provide a blank scene without any distracting script. For Mob Psycho 100, gogoanime.gold (please use a VPN and antivirus if at all possible) provides good episode downloads at a very reasonable file size while still maintaining good picture quality. I have every episode of the MP100 English dub downloaded on my phone to make AMVs with lol.

As for a general sense of how to make one: it might seem kind of trite, but honestly the best practice you could ask for is to jump in the deep end and just start making them. So much of the decision-making process during AMV creation, from my perspective, is done by feeling and intuition alone. The more you play with it, the easier it becomes.

Capcut is a great, easy-to-use service that can be used for free, and it’s also wildly popular. I actually prefer CuteCut Pro, which is a paid app and not as technically amazing as Capcut is, but it’s what I started out using back when I was 16 and it’s what I know best. I know the app inside-out, so I find I work better on it. Sometimes I will take the product from CuteCut Pro and move it over to Capcut for filters, effects, or subtitles, though.

But yeah. The best way to get a feel for AMV rhythm and editing is just to pick a song, get some footage, and play around with your app of choice until the pieces start coming together. I promise that, eventually, they will. You can also always watch other people’s AMVs and edits to see what they decided to do in certain moments for some inspiration and direction.

HELPFUL TIP: If at all possible, do not edit in wireless/Bluetooth headphones. Most wireless headphones connected through Bluetooth can cause a very slight sound delay and make your editing seem a bit off-beat.

Some people choose to follow the beat in AMVs, some prefer following the melody, and some prefer just matching the lyrics. IMO, there’s a time and a place for all three to be done well. It’s genuinely hard to make a bad AMV, so don’t be hesitant to play around with it. It’s kind of like art in the way that people aren’t going to see your AMV and be like “that’s not as good at THIS AMV 🫤”, they’re gonna be like, “Yay, another AMV!”.

If you decide you want to make AMVs, just have fun! At a fundamental level, that’s really all it needs.

well anyway, I wanted to ask you about the first time you read the first book (ACOTAR) and what you'd thought of it and what your first thoughts of Rhys were? did you know that feyre would end up with him before you started the book? or did you go into it blind? and if you didn't know they'd end up together, were you rooting for them by the end of it? did you feel like you were the only one that saw something bwn them? and you weren't sure if sjm was actually hinting at something or if you were simply being delusional? because this was exactly what went through my head when I first read the book and I'd love to know your thought process through the books tooo. honestly, even when she escaped to the night court in the second book, before she explicitly stated that she did not love tam anymore or something along those lines, I was still unsure/scared that Feysand wasn't going to happen 😭 and that this would just be written as a tiny hiccup in Feylins story and Rhys would just be like, some kindof rebound guy(haha lol yea) that would make her realise her love for Tam or whatever bs I see soooo often in movies these days(especially those hallmark ones, no shade to anyone who enjoys them tho,ily) and now I just want to laugh at my past self lol. Oooh okay, so I originally didn’t have an interest in reading—acotar was the second book series I ever reader, after shadow and bone, which was the first book I’d read that wasn’t compulsory reading in some way—but one day my friend and I were in the library joking around, and she mentioned chapter 55 (because again, I didn’t know anything about books, or the jokes within the fandom) and she was telling me how it was a whole thing, and if you say chapter 55, everyone knows what scene it is, and I ended up just taking the book (acomaf) off the shelf and reading chapter 55 on its own 🫢

It wasn’t until about a year later that I actually read acotar, but I’m pretty sure I remembered feysand’s mating bond? But again, I had no idea what that meant so I don’t think it impacted my read that much?

I will say, I have a breathing problem that kicks up every once in a while, and I remember liking Rhys so much in the first book and being so flustered my heart was beating so quickly I was struggling to breathe for a good few minutes and had to step outside 😭😭 we still sometimes joke that he nearly killed me 😳🤦

(I loved him being cold, and cruel, and kind of flirtatious 🫢😳)

As for whether I knew Feyre and Rhys would get together, or whether I was routing for them, I actually can’t pin point when I got so immersed in acotar? I definitely liked Rhys’ character from the beginning, and I think Feyre grew on me more throughout the story :)

I never hated Tamlin though—I think that might have been aided by kind of knowing Rhys and Feyre would get together, and acotar didn’t seem like a series that would have a sad ending? It felt too fantasy to do anything super serious if that makes sense, so I was content to just go along with the ride and see where the story went :)

Also, again it might have been because I kind of knew Rhys and Feyre would end up together, but if Rhys really was the big bad villain he was made out to be in the first book, I think it would have been poor writing to show him to us so early on in the book? I think villain’s are much scarier when they’re kept in mystery, like how dragons or monsters will sometimes be silhouetted in thundercloud to show their outline, or how sometimes in games you’ll see a massive tail slither away under water without showing you the full creature because the Thing your imagination creates will always be so much worse :)

I mean to be fair, I don’t really watch films or tv shows at all anymore, and until acotar I hadn’t read many books so I think I might have been oblivious to those tropes/cliches which is why I wasn’t worried that Feyre would go back to him? It probably could have been done, that they reconciled and Tamlin had a redemption, but I think that would have changed the whole tone of the book series so I am really glad that didn’t happen and we got to meet the IC :)

I think it can be so fun to read a book, or something to that degree, then rereading it and spotting all these new details that hint at what will happen in the future? Also seeing what people thought on their first read through, then perhaps how they changed gradually is always so interesting to hear? Also getting to watch as someone reads through a book for the first time and hearing what they think as they go through it—especially if it’s a book you like—can be such a bonding experience 🧡💛
