Demon Twins AU but Damian meets Ellie first

So! We have the classic Demon Twins AU, where Danny is the Twin brother of Damian. He was left for dead after a mission gone wrong in a snowy wasteland, with lethal wounds that would kill him within an hour. Damian rightfully assumed that he was dead.

Then one day, at a Gala his father was hosting, he seems somebody who looks exactly like Danyal. They have the same eyes, bone structure, many of the same Mannerisms, and all signs point to this being Danyal. He even takes some DNA and runs a test on it after the Gala. It comes up as a 50% Match to his own, the perfect percentage for a Fraternal Twin (which Danny was, they weren't identical)

He realizes that Danyal must have somehow survived his injuries and found his way to a new family, as improbableas it sounds. But there is one small deviation from the Danyal he knew.

The person at the Gala was a Girl.

In Public Record, she is listed as Danielle "Ellie" Masters, the daughter of reclusive Millionare Vladimir Masters. Which was confusing since Vlad claimed to have had a Son before her first Public appearance.

So he comes to the conclusion that Danyal must be Trans, and went through a Transition. He fully supports his new sister, but he does kind of need to contact her to see if she is safe from the League.

Unbeknownst to him, Ellie is a Clone of Danny made by Vlad back during his whole "Supervillain Phase". After he chilled out and became a good guy, she finally accepted him as a parent and let him claim her as a daughter. (They went to a frankly absurd amount of family therapy to reconcile)

Danny is just living his best life back in Amity Park, when Vlad tells him that some Heroes have been sniffing around his Estate and looking into Ellie's past. He just hopes the Fake Identity he made for her will hold up to scrutiny, it's been years since he made one.

opinion on the infamous Sharkey et al debacle?

I have a LOT of opinions.

For those who don't know: Sharkey et al. advocate for the description of species based only on DNA barcodes (i.e. unique DNA sequence in specific regions of the mitochondrial genome), and have described hundreds upon hundreds of species of wasp using this approach. This is 'minimalist' taxonomy.

This is a very bad idea, for dozens of reasons. I recently mentioned how fun it can be to read reply papers. This is a great example. Here are the titles of the three papers I myself have coauthored in response to Sharkey et al.—I refer you to these papers to get a well-formulated view of my opinions on their approach.

Building up on both of does anon posts, Machete and Vasco being historical figures that make waves every so often on tumblr feels very canon and not too far from actual tumblr's favourite historical figures.

And also, I feel that Machete shouldn't go that unnoticed by scholars. Being this powerful member of the clergy that escaped many assassination attempts before being killed and had a personal relationship with the pope. Like this man was a deathly and important part of the inquisition, but also left behind rumours of a same-sex relationship with a married politician.

I can definitely see him becoming a point of interest for some historians, especially does who studied the inquisition or the clergy. That's probably how Vasco's paintings of him got discovered and documented and how their relationship stopping being considered a rumour started by his now-death enemies, but an actual theory with some weight behind it.

Idk why but I'm becoming very invested in the ways history would treat and remember them, way too many scandals and drama for them to be forgotten in time.

You do make a very convincing point.

People are getting so invested in their hypothetical in-universe reputation and are clearly putting some serious thought into it and it's getting me hyped up as well ;_;

I ended up noticing a rather subtle detail in the last episodes of season 4... The way the Cluster is represented gave me a feeling like the first Godzilla film, there was even a scene of a family suffering in the middle. Was this on purpose or just a coincidence?

I'm presuming you mean the image where the Cluster is a mess of tangled hands and it looks kind of like a maw trying to swallow Steven whole.

That part, while it wasn't an intentional Godzilla reference, is definitely meant to evoke the image of a monster. I can see what you mean.

As for the family.... I'm not sure it's enough to make the comparison? Recalling loved ones/family before a moment of a plot turnaround is kind of a common trope of anime and heroic journeys in general! I didn't really draw on any specific movie or story for that part. It's just something that happens a lot.

So we know Alastor and Lilith disappeared at the same time 7 years ago. And we know that Lucifer had a meeting with Heaven which began the exterminations. We don't know when that happened though. Either they're not mentioning when the exterminations started because they've always happened or because revealing when they started would give too much away and make it too easy to guess things. All Charlie knows is that Lucifer went to the meeting and she assumes he gave the go ahead for exterminations. But the exterminations haven't always happened. They only started after the angels, or specifically Sera I think considering no other angels knew about it, became afraid of the power and influence Lilith had over the demons.

My current theory is that that meeting was called between Sera, Adam, and Lucifer because Alastor and Lilith were planning on working together with him broadcasting her voice on his radio station to inspire the other demons to rise to war against the angels. I think Sera demanded that Lilith and Alastor be separated with Lilith making a deal with Adam to stay in heaven where she can't empower any other demons with her voice or even contact anyone in hell and that Sera demanded the exterminations happen as well in order to not only lessen the demons' power but also instill fear in them in an attempt to prevent future uprisings. I think Alastor was given the options of either be killed or sign a contract limiting his power and requiring him to stay away for a while so that their little idea of rebellion is forgotten amongst the masses. I especially think that because of Zestial's comment about folks thinking Alastor had fallen to holy arms. Maybe Sera is his contract holder. That or they tried to straight up kill him and he somehow escaped barely alive and it's taken this long for him to heal and regain enough power for him to feel comfortable revealing himself to society. But trying to kill him wouldn't explain the contact or his need to 'unclip his wings'.

I might have taken this question a bit literally, haha. Three Stars Above Clouds is located on the top of a mountain, and is designed to function in a high-altitude environment. Similarly, Vultures thrive at high altitudes.

The mountains surrounding TSAC's facility are full of large vulture colonies, and they do a pretty good job at curtailing the local Scavenger population. TSAC is quite fond of Vultures because of this. They'd also probably be a tiny bit envious of the Vultures' mobility and dominance of the sky.

Also, they bear a bit of resemblance...

As you can see from this image, as toddlers, their hats are way too oversized on their heads (like they are just barely sitting on)

Back to their outfits, I always wondered what would possess the Bros to wear outfits just like what they wore as toddlers. No adult ever does this (and yes I understand it makes sense from a character design perspective - but I'm talking about in universe logic); so my guess is that their mother made their adult overalls too! (because she is very sweet and seems to be one of the few who supports their business 💗) It would make sense given she would've used their toddler outfits as inspiration.

Okay I just realised this but Vasco's two moles under his eyes reminded me of this old saying that two moles directly under the eyes mean you get bad luck in relationships. Intentional or not, this detail is a nice little easter egg to his relationship with Machete and any he had beforehand!
