#the final countdown a-tier song
Note
What’s your favorite Europe album? And could we maybe get an album ranking, or a tier list of sorts?
My favourite album is Out Of This World.
Sure, but I can only do the 80s albums because I haven't fully dived into the newer stuff as much. I like a few songs but it's hard since spotify doesn't have them?? Idk why but whatever.
1. Out of this world
2. Prisoners In Paradise
3. Wings of Tomorrow
4. Final Countdown
5. Europe

WARNING: Flashing lights!!!
After an EPIC lore intermission (that I’ll post later on, it’s narrated by Dustin and it’s really funny and good!), the countdown finally hit 0 for the next hit song, the 10th song in the Starset concert I went to, Satellite. This one, as well as Unbecoming, was my introduction to this amazing band, who I discovered thanks to an even more amazing friend.
I’ll cherish Satellite for as long as I live, with the lyrics being uplifting and comforting. I get the lore is the complete opposite (which I love), but, it’s nice to revisit Satellite every now and again for that good vibe. I should really create a Starset song tier list.
Also, I must appreciate with my whole heart the first 2 minutes of violin play. That was masterful! Of course, Dustin and the two masked gents was such a legendary moment as well!

it's the final countdown! here we are at the final installment of what was a very laborious mini-series. welcome to 20 of sojvng's favorite kpop songs of all time, for the ladies this time, part 2 of 2.
just like the previous post, you can read why i chose each song below the cut!
song 1: "so what" by loona. this was another one of those songs that i loved before i even started following the group! i remember hearing this song and thinking i really hadn't heard anything like this done by a girl group before, and i loved it. this song feels so anthemic to me because it's noisy! it's loud! there's brassy sounds! it's booming! there's gang vocals! there's yelling! this song makes me feel like i can take over the entire world. also jinsoul's rapping is top tier in this song. it really feels like a "fuck you" song and i love that for them and for me. song 2: "girls" by nature. again i ask where are they?!?!?!? this music video in particular is relatively well-known for being a horror video, which i absolutely love. the song itself does have a bit of darkness to it tone-wise, but it's energetic and loud, and to my great surprise, has no rap parts. i love this song, and i hope they're given a comeback soon! song 3: "i just" by red velvet. perfect velvet is one of my favorite albums of all time, so really anything from that album could be on this list, but i find that i'm in the mood to listen to "i just" the most! this is another song with very little musical accompaniment in the verses, which i always love, as it puts the focus back on the artists! i especially like that such a large part of the accompanying music is just an altered playback of them singing together, and the backing track is really awesome in this song as well. also, more gang vocals? i love to hear it. song 4: "ring ring" by rocket punch. this song is so fun and has that 80s throwback sound that we all know i love by now. i'm pretty sure it is physically, psychologically, and ethically impossible to dislike this song. it's catchy, it has a great build up to a pretty explosive chorus, i really can't get enough of it. song 5: "zgzg" by saay. i'm obsessed with saay. she's an incredible performer, and she has such a powerful, full voice. this is another song that's just fun! it's got an incredible beat, there's a snare drum break towards the end??? (there should be more songs in kpop with snare drums.) it's got this brass band feel to it, and it's just so... jazzy and cool. this is Cool Girl Music for sure. song 6: "like this" by stayc. stayc has been consistently amazing me since debut, and i still can't believe that this song came off of their very first album in existence. the stayc girls are some of the most talented young women active today, i think that's a fact that at this point is universally agreed upon, and this song really showcases each member as well as how strong they are as a group. j is of course my star here, i'll always be excited to hear a female rapper who is allowed to sit in a lower register. song 7: "pporappippam" by sunmi. sunmi is my favorite female soloist of all time, and this was the song that introduced me to her, so it will always have a dear place in my heart! it was also the song that got me to start really listening to female soloists and groups in general, which is so good and also embarrassing because i should have been listening to them all along. do you ever hear a song and feel like... if it were a color, it would be the color of your soul? does that make sense? basically i feel spiritually bound to this song and i can't imagine my life without it. this song is my soulmate. song 8: "get loud" by twice. this is an absolute party banger and i am so obsessed with it. the build-up to the chorus in this song is one of my absolute favorites with that SNARE DRUM SOUND AGAIN? i'm less confident in the source of the sound here, but you know what i'm talking about. they also have that brassy "WONK" sound in the chorus, which always makes my brain shoot out of my head. this is one of the songs i listen to when i want to feel powerful, sort of like "so what." this is the song that made me realize how much i actually love twice, and i'll always love her for that~ song 9: "moya moya" by weki meki. this song is fun and cute and just an absolute joy to listen to. it's not sexy, it's not dark, it's not especially loud, it's not a party song, but it's got a fun beat, CLAPPING, and a real punchy chorus. it's impossible to not be in a better mood after listening to this song than you were before listening to it. i love this song so much and will be a moya moya supremacist always. song 10: "hola" by wjsn. i'll be honest, this was the first song i thought of when i thought of my top 20 gg songs of all time. wjsn is one of my ult groups, and exy is like... a Big Ult so of course my girls had to be on this list! i listen to this song every day. it gives me goosebumps literally every time i listen to it, i love it so much. it has so many elements that make it a Sarah Song: loud. big lead-up to a loud-ass chorus with absolutely insane vocal performances. crazy-good raps by queen exy herself, gang vocals, a big powerful thumping beat... this is one of my favorite songs of all time, whether we're talking kpop or not. it's perfect.

Chaos Playlist
Cause why not and I haven't made him one yet.
General Theme song. Self explanatory.
I can do BOTH~
You can't tell me you can't see him singing this either around his house or in a club, dancing with every person he can, and just having fun. It's bouncy and flirty like him.
Once again, just something that fits his personality and just him. The beat, the feel, the words.
I associate Chaos with most Bruno Mars songs. Charlie Puth is another one I associate with him.
You can bet he and his kids be jamming at home.
When he's in love. He'd sing this, too, serenade your ass.
Heaven has already granted me my wish // Still I never thought it would be as pleasant as this // Though you have no wings like the angels up above // You have a heavenly smile and also the gift of love // I promise to love you in everything I do // And know that you love me to
About his kids. Just this whole thing. He's definitely that lovesick father type, but tries to be chill about it.
Isn't she lovely? // Isn't she wonderful // Isn't she precious? // Less than one minute old // I never thought through love we'd be // Making one as lovely as she // But isn't she lovely made from love?
Back when he was part of the royal courts of the underworld.
Everybody in this party feels so fake // I really wish that I could say it to your face
I just wanna be happy // But if I keep on doing the things // That keep on bringing me pain // There's no one else I can blame // If I'm not happy // Wasted time but now I can see // The biggest enemy is me
(Don't you wanna be happy?)
But if I keep on giving my heart // For people to tear apart // The healing will never start
(Will I ever be happy?) Yeah
It's so easy to complain // Addicted to the pain
(Do you wanna be happy?) YES
Took a long time but I'm ready. Thank you.
Echoes knocking on locked doors // All the laughter from before // I'd rather live out on the street // Than in this haunted memory
This used to be a fun house // But now it's full of evil clowns // It's time to start the countdown // I'm gonna burn it down down down
Friendly reminder this demon formed a contract with a World Eater and fucked razed the underworld's royalty and upper tiers, and fed his ex to said World Eater.
Each night I go to bed // I pray the Lord my soul to keep // No, I ain't lookin' for forgiveness // But before I'm six foot deep
Lord, I got to ask a favor // And I'll hope you'll understand // 'Cause I've lived life to the fullest
Let this boy die like a man // Starin' down the bullet
Let me make my final stand
And the Lord listened.

Ace Attorney case tier list
so, in the past year, i finished replaying games 1 through 5 for the first time in forever, and also played game 6 for the first time ever
so here’s where i ruthlessly rank each of the cases based on that most scientific metric of all, My Opinions:
OPENING CASES
S-tier: Turnabout Trump (4-1).  I already knew this case, and I still gasped with surprise when Phoenix showed up, and when Kristoph showed his true colors, and when Apollo realized OH SHIT OH FUCK I REALLY AM ACCUSING MY BOSS OF MURDER HUH... what a wonderful, splashy, shockingly concise case to open up the post-O.G. trilogy world.  Marvelous.
A-tier: Turnabout Memories (3-1).  Seeing Mia Fey (finally!) in action is a long-awaited delight; seeing Phoenix being a total dumbass was an unexpected-yet-perfect and fitting delight.
B-tier: The First Turnabout (1-1).  Solid lil’ case with some conventional-but-well-executed humor.  I’ve got a soft spot for Larry Butz.
C-tier: The Lost Turnabout (2-1), The Foreign Turnabout (6-1).  The former’s fine but a little forgettable; the latter has some fun gags (Payne’s ridiculous new outfit, dude absolutely shredding on the mandolin, etc) but is marred by how uh... kinda silly the game’s core conceit is, lol
E-tier: Turnabout Countdown (5-1).  The context surrounding this introduction is just sloppy (badly handled in media res + let’s lowkey retcon game 4 isn’t a great setup), and also the case itself is just. irksome. ted tonate is just fundamentally irritating to look at
FINALE CASES
S-tier: Bridge to the Turnabout (3-5), Turnabout Goodbyes (1-4).  No explanation needed.  God they fuck so hard
A-tier: The Cosmic Turnabout + Turnabout for Tomorrow (5-4 + 5-5), Turnabout Succession (4-4).
The former two cases are what makes AA5 worth it, and they make for a tremendously fun ride.  It fumbles the execution in some notable ways (Apollo’s sudden j’accuse moment feels a little forced/awkward/inadequately foreshadowed, and damn it sure would’ve been nice to know Clay Terran at all before he died, and also The Phantom’s final meltdown could’ve used a bit more emotional heft)... but okay let’s be real, I’m here for Simon Blackquill, and this case gives me so much of him so who gives a shit.  (And Aura!  Condescending obnoxious engineering queen!  I love her!)
As for Turnabout Succession... while I earnestly wish the game had explored more of Klavier’s feelings about this whole setup, and some more emotional beats for Apollo, the case still makes for such a satisfyingly twisty and fun investigation overall (the poison stamp! what a ridiculous murder method! I love it!) that it’s a more-than-worthy finale.
B-tier: Turnabout Revolution (6-5), Farewell, My Turnabout (2-4).
The former does some cool stuff—I particularly like the opening half, where Apollo’s being real snippy and coping with Frankly Bizarre Dad Feelings, and giving Apollo a chance to finally throw down against Phoenix is a blast.  The latter half of the case starts feeling a little... ridiculous? cramped? idk? like, they didn’t do nearly enough foreshadowing about Nahyuta’s whole deal for me to care about his drama, this justice system is so obviously silly and the manner in which the revolution is playing out strains my already-suspended-sky-high disbelief... fun, and flashy, but more noise than signal in the last part, I guess.
As for Farewell, My Turnabout: of course I love Edgeworth rolling back into court goin’ through SOME kind of bizarre emotional arc of Hey I’m Totally Healed Now and obnoxiously preaching about Truth TM.  And it’s cool that the game set up a case where you want to lose.  But the net result is a bit strange tonally—it’s trying set up some kind of message about It’s Not Just About Winning, It’s About Pursuing The Truth, but it feels really muddled when that’s combined with Okay But Maya’s Literally Being Held Hostage Like Right Now, Surely A Reasonable Justice System Has A Process For Dealing With This Obviously Complicated Situation, Right?
but also Franziska takes a fucking bullet (how did I forget about that) and then gets to roll in like Ms. Save The Day so, really, lots of good shit here
FILLER CASES
S-tier: Reunion, and Turnabout (2-2), Turnabout Beginnings (3-4).  Look, the first one gives me all the Fey family drama a girl could ask for, and the latter gives me young Edgeworth being a total shit in an obnoxiously shimmery outfit.  The whole enchilada is here
A+ tier: The Magical Turnabout (6-2).  DELIGHTFUL!  MAGICIAN!  SHENANIGANS!  Like you get to guess the trick behind a magic act as part of the case, how fucking fun is that, and also the Apollo & Athena duo’s chemistry is perfect, the villain is a FANTASTIC bastard, and even the bit characters you meet during the investigation are total delights... Probably the best “standalone” case in the series, in that it doesn’t rely on any emotional connections to previous cases (unlike 2-2 and 3-4) to still totally and completely rule.
A tier: Turnabout Samurai (1-3), Turnabout Reclaimed (5-DLC).
For Turnabout Samurai, I remembered before this replay how delightful the TV SHOW STUDIO investigation and actor-fandom stuff was; I had TOTALLY forgotten Vasquez calling in her mob connections to try and wreck you.  What a fantastic villain; what a fun case.
Turnabout Reclaimed is just good solid goofy nonsense.  Probably receives a boost for me in particular because, yeah, Simon Blackquill.  But then again who isn’t giving cases a boost on that account; they are MISSING OUT
B tier: The Stolen Turnabout (3-2).  Ron and Desirée are so great sighs into hands
C tier: Listing roughly in order of preference: Turnabout Academy (5-3), Turnabout Serenade (4-3), Turnabout Sisters (1-2), Recipe for a Turnabout (3-3), Rite of the Turnabout (6-3), Rise from the Ashes (1-5).
Four of these (5-3, 4-3, 1-2, 3-3) are perfectly solid cases; I just don’t love them quite as much as “thievery hijinks” or “Hollywood hijinks” or other such particularly delightful flavors.  Everyone has a favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher and all that.
Rite of the Turnabout is interesting and connected with the larger themes of the game in a cool way, and makes good use of the divination mechanic.  However, the last bit gets twisty enough to actually be kind of confusing, and said larger themes of the game are... kinda hard for me to take seriously... which, yeah, leads to it feeling a little stilted when it really should be singing.
Rise from the Ashes landed awkwardly for me.  I know it was added well after the first game’s release, and it does a good job of continuing some of the cool stuff from that game—it’s neat, in isolation, to see Phoenix and Edgeworth working together (while still sniping at each other!), and some of the DS-specific mechanics are neat.  However, I just didn’t feel like I learned quite enough about Ema and Lana to care about them like I should, and retconning “(almost certainly true) rumors that Edgeworth was involved in Shady Shit TM” into “actually Edgeworth was totally ignorant of Shady Shit TM, like at worst his crime was willful ignorance / incuriosity, he was just been manipulated by the Police Chief”... makes Edgeworth less interesting to me!  Like, it’s cool to see Edgeworth caught off-guard and under pressure, but I wish the circumstances had been different?  Also Gant’s theme song is annoying as shit, which is petty but hey this is my blog post so
D tier: Turnabout Storyteller (6-4), Turnabout Corner (4-2), Turnabout Big Top (2-3), The Monstrous Turnabout (5-2).
Turnabout Storyteller has some fun gags with My Dude Simon and also Taka, but was heavily marred by Everyone Talking Down To Athena The Entire Fucking Case Oh My God Can You All Just Shut Up.
Turnabout Corner has... lots of fun elements but... look the fucking stolen-panties setup just grates ok
I don’t think I hate Turnabout Big Top the way most people seem to, but I did find the final murder setup more annoying that I remembered this playthrough—bro you were really sure the dude was going to conveniently stand right there and the heavy statue was definitely going to strike a killing blow and not just give the guy a concussion?  ok lol
The Monstrous Turnabout suffers mostly from poor puzzle/investigation design, being too hand-hold-y, and also having a core gimmick/setting that just wasn’t really my thing.  Alas!

I've decided to hold off on launching kickstarter for now.
This is only because I want to make sure I am putting the best product i can make out, instead of rushing it, and after some market analytics, have decided that 4th quarter is not the best time.
In the meantime, I'm polishing and refining my game mechanics, and working on marketing, so that when I do launch, I've drummed up some interest at least.
I will be adding to my TikTok, explaining more about the module, the lore, and some of the character stories in ASOLAD, as well as reading from The Song of the Verse, which is a series of bedtime stories about the creation of the world, races in the world of Es’Trahn, the birth of civilization and how magic and technology were and continue to be created.
Each chapter of ASOLAD will feature 1 chapter from the Song of the Verse as the introduction, all of which will tie together in Chapter 6, when we finally meet Prince Hamedjh, the little boy the stories are being told to, but by the time we meet him, he's an old man, and a critical NPC in the story.
I will still be offering dice, 3d resin printed minis and accessories, battle maps, etc as part of the kickstarter, and am currently refining both supporter tiers and stretch goals.
Expect the countdown to launch to start the first of the year!

To celebrate the re-release of all the HS music on Bandcamp, here is a list (with links!) of my favorite HS music. There’s talent and heart in the vast Homestuck musicverse, and I highly recommend exploring it if you haven’t, returning to it if it’s been a while, and sharing your own favorites if they’re still in your mix today.
So here are my top 25 favorite Homestuck songs, including fan material:
In comic | On albums | On fan album* | Not in any collection**
Doctor | Candles and Potency** | Planet Healer | Pale Rapture | Trepidation | Voidlight / Whispers in the Voidlight** / Haven** |  Carne Vale | Austin, Atlantis / piano duet** | Crystalanthemums / Crystalguitarthemums* | The Lyrist | Skaian Birth / Skaian Dreams Remix / Skies of Skaia | Ascend | Terezi’s Theme | Sburban Jungle / Sburban Countdown | Renewed Return | Another Chance | Knight in Two Dreams** | Seer of Same-Colored Scalemate Combos** | Cuddlefish* | Purple Bard |  Forever / Beta Version / The Deeper You Go | Three in the Morning (RJ's I Can Barely Sleep In This Casino Remix) | Superego |  Skaia Ad Infinitum* | Dreamers and the Dead
Short but somehow very long descriptions of why I love each track under the cut:
1. Doctor | George Buzinkai | Homestuck Vol. 1-4 The original. The iconic. A genuinely haunting and atmospheric track, I think this was a big part of what really drew me into the story when first reading it.
2. Candles and Potency | Jeremy “Solatrus” Iamurri | (Youtube) I’ve posted this here before but like. This is still such a mystery to me. It was played as part of the stream leading up to the release of Volume 10. Why...was it not part of Volume 10. Why does it have no official release.  I live in terror this video source for it will be taken down. It’s a stunning remix of Candles and Clockwork (x / x). Listen to it all the way through - the piano bit is my favorite.
3. Planet Healer | Seth “Beetfox” Peelle | Homestuck Vol. 5 Changes the mood of Doctor from “mysterious” to “inviting.” Great soundtrack for a playable segment of the comic, great to listen to on its own.
4. Pale Rapture | The Black Curtain | coloUrs and mayhem: Universe B This song has a noticeable physiological calming affect on me. I also just like it.
5. Trepidation | Svix | Homestuck Vol. 9 Energetic and uplifting. One of my cheer-up songs.
6. Voidlight | Thomas Ferkol | Homestuck Vol. 10 (Whispers in the Voidlight / Haven) I think I’m okay admitting that I like the preview version of this better than the final - because I still like the final great deal. I like that Whispers in the Voidlight has less layer, but I like the ending that was added to Voidlight. I’m pretty happy having both versions in my mix. It is a very comforting song to me.
7. Carne Vale | Malcolm Brown | Cherubim Still gives me shivers. This was the standout for me when Cherubim was released, and I’m glad it was put in the comic later - it made [S] Game Over. more palatable.
8. Austin, Atlantis | Clark “Plazmataz” Powell | Homestuck Vol. 9 (Austin, Atlantis (piano duet)) I cried the first time I listened to this. That’s...a recommendation. Sometimes the titles of instrumental songs don’t affect my impressions of them on a conscious level, but this one definitely did, and I actually felt an emotion like looking at a sunken city that I used to be able to walk though. Both versions are very good.
9.  Crystalanthemums | Alex Rosetti | Homestuck Vol. 5 (Crystalguitarthemums* | Eric “Jit” Scheele | Land of Fans and Music 2) Another iconic leitmotif. I love the track itself, and Crystalguitarthemums is a fan release that has a similar mood of tranquility.
10. The Lyrist | Thomas "EidolonOrpheus" Ferkol | Cherubim I tended to skip the less exciting tracks on Cherubim at first, but now I love this for being sad and sweet and very pretty.
11.  Skaian Birth | Mark Hadley | Song of Skaia
(Skaian Dreams Remix | Homestuck Vol. 2 (original), Skies of Skaia | Mark Hadley | Homestuck Vol. 1-4) The “Skaian” motif is very magical sounding. Like Voidlight, I find Skaian Birth very comforting. As of the posting of this, the Song of Skaia album seams to have bean eaten by the mass-reuploading...I hope it gets reuploaded as well.
12. Ascend | Joren “Tensei” de Bruin | Homestuck Vol. 10 This was such a good medley track. It was so ambitious in how many motifs it tried to pull together, and the fact that Tensei said they were tackling a music style that they hadn’t seen much in HS music before...and it all paid off spectacularly.
13. Terezi’s Theme | Toby “Radiation” Fox | Alterniabound  What a great character theme. It’s pretty busy for a VG theme, but it seems to tell a whole story. I think it was The Lemonsnout Turnabout that established the harpsichord as a Terezi sound, and that was also a Toby Fox track, and it’s very effective.
14. Sburban Jungle | Michael Guy Bowman | Homestuck Vol. 1-4 (Sburban Countdown | Michael Guy Bowman | Homestuck Vol. 1-4) Early on I considered this just as iconic as Doctor, and I was surprised it didn’t get used more. (If you want to see it used effectively as a motif, check out #21 on this list.) It really helped the mood shift as the comic got more serious and dramatic.
15. Renewed Return | Marcy Nabors | Homestuck Vol. 10 Another great medley track. Whereas Ascend has kind of a party atmosphere, Renewed Return is solemn and dignified in a way that is very satisfying as a conclusion to a long narrative.
16. Another Chance | Eston Schweickart, Erik “Jit” Scheele | One Year Older Homestuck is freaking long, and very meandering, and I’ve forgotten many of the plot beats. But one way to remember them is if they have a killer tribute song. Another Chance always reminds me of a time when achieving god tier still felt like an incredible achievement, of how menacing Bec Noir was, and of the feeling of seeing a character resurrected. One Year Older appears to be another casualty of the reuploading...this was a beautifully cohesive solo album, and I hope it comes back somehow. Please give it another chance.
17. Knight in Two Dreams** | Malcolm Brown | (Tumblr) Hm. I think what I love about is that this track makes the time spent on the meteor feel real. The rhythm makes me thing of the passage of a lot of time. The music also makes me think of a sort of unease with being in close quarters with people and not being able to leave. And finally, it also has the sense it is waiting for something...as they are all waiting for their journey to be over.
18. Seer of Same-Colored Scalemate Combos | Alex Rosetti | (Tumblr) Speaking of Terezi’s harpsichord...This was the theme for a fun tile-swapping puzzle game made by insecureillustrator, which sadly I think is defunct now. In any event, the song is really fun.
19. Cuddlefish | Thomas Ferkol | Land of Fans and Music 2 Very sweet and calming. I like thinking of quieter moments in the HS multiverse, like the trolls started SGRUB.
20. Purple Bard | Gec | coloUrs and mayhem: Universe A I wish I knew more music words because I want to say what I like about this song is...the...mixing?? It’s very immersive, there are a lot of layers to it that contribute to making it creepy and kind of hypnotic.
21. Forever / Beta Version / The Deeper You Go | Michael Guy Bowman | Moebius Trip and Hadron Kaleido The instrumental tracks on MTAHK all give me a sense of depth of time, the remoteness of Skaia and the Medium, and the cyclical nature of SBURB. Spooky. It all makes the story seem much bigger somehow.
22. Three in the Morning (RJ's I Can Barely Sleep In This Casino Remix) | Clark “Plazmataz” Powell, Robert J! Lake | Homestuck Vol. 1-4 I love this one largely because it is nostalgic from when I first got into Homestuck in 2012 and for a while only had Volumes 1-4 to listen to (I didn’t discover the Bandcamp page until later). It might have to do with the fact that it’s sandwiched between Sburban Jungle and Doctor on the album, but it’s a fun and yet soothing track.
23. Superego | Yan "Nucleose" Rodriguez | coloUrs and mayhem: Universe A This captures a mood that I can’t put into words. I’m not sure if this was composed as a Vriska track, but if it wasn’t I’m glad it ended up as one, because it’s a feeling I don’t think any other song has.
24. Skaia Ad Infinitum | Andromeda's Cadre | Beforus This reminds me of all my old favorite DDR tracks. The melody makes me think of the changing Spirograph that represents Skaia.
25. Dreamers and the Dead | Thomas "EidolonOrpheus" Ferkol | Alterniabound This and Cuddlefish have always had a similar feeling to me (moreso than other Thomas Ferkol tracks). I like to think about exploring the dream bubbles as analogous to swimming through Alternia’s oceans.
Honorable mentions to Rustblood and It Be Like That Sometimes, which are only not on this list because they are technically Hiveswap and not Homestuck. If Homestuck really is continuing, and if there’s going to be more Hiveswap, I’m very much looking forward to more music.

After months preparing for their comeback, it’s time to show their new song to the world!
But before they come back, they are pulled aside by the manager for some exciting news. After showing solid results with the past albums, the company decided to create the first LUXE’s first subunit to show a different side of the group. The subunit will be called Lemon Syrup inspired by real life Orange Caramel and their first release will be a double single with ‘Magic Girl’ and ‘A-ing’, which the line distribution can be found here. The members chosen to join are Ella, Yena and Zoe. They are told to learn the lyrics because the plan is to debut them next year.
Ella is also informed that she will have a solo fashion pictorial with Marie Claire Korea. The photo session will happen on October 10th and the photos will be released next month on the magazine’s November issue. You may use the following images as references (here).
To promote their first full album, the members of LUXE will all go to the recording of Ask In A Box inspired by this episode on October 12th. This episode will be uploaded on their Youtube channel on October 23rd. On October 14th, the members will take part in the filming of ‘Running Man’ inspired by Episode 428 which can be seen here under the theme “Everyone has secrets”. This episode will air on October 25th.

the fix you coda is superior to champagne supernova! the rainy day women is overhyped because of SS but honestly so is the countdown for RM. both genuinely great episodes but the dramatic peak of the show IS the pilot. the next tier is the escape, the ties that bind, the dearly beloved, followed by the o sea (kiki and juju fucking carry it) and the graduates (the ending is a disgrace but it's a visceral viewing experience). and none for season 4!
Ok ok that’s a really compelling argument, I did forget about the Fix You coda. Damn. I think the Fix You coda is more powerful, but Champagne Supernova is a better song so it edges that contest for me. Maybe I have too many fond road trip memories attached to that song?
Literally all of those episodes are *chef’s kiss* iconique!
I will say that the final scene of s4 with the Patrick Park song “Life is a Song” is quite emotional as well, probably the only good coda of that season.
Blue Light at the end of 3x01 is also a good music moment, though I probably wouldn’t call it a coda.
Oh!! California 2005 at the end of 3x02 is a FAVE. I love RM being bamfs (god, remember when we used that term?) and them walking away behind that chain link fence. God, so dramatic, so good.

Seeing Red -Day 1 | Asking the crush out- (Bakugou x Kirishima)
Summary: Much to his own dismay, Bakugou couldn’t stop replaying that scene in his mind. He didn’t even mean to. It just happened, and kept happening- over and over in dreams. An outstretched hand. A single word. Months later, by chance, he heard someone say that constantly thinking about someone meant that they probably liked them more than a friend, and it finally clicked with the explosive teenager. But what was he going to do about it?
Note: Alright, here we go with the Valentine’s Day Countdown! This is my first KiriBaku piece… well, ever, so I hope it’s alright and captures the characters decently enough. ^^’
Theme Song: Hold Me Tight Or Don’t - Fall Out Boy
Word Count: 1872
@bnha-valentines
Realized I can’t not be with you, or be just your friend…
In retrospect, it all seemed like a dream. Getting caught in some magic marble during the middle of a courage exercise in a forest sounded bizarre, no matter what way he spun it. When he was finally released, he was effectively kidnapped and dealing with some familiar faces from the first time his class encountered the League of Villains. Apparently, being blunt, confident, and ambitious meant he was top-tier villain material- especially with that explosive quirk of his.
...but that wasn’t the scene that he kept dreaming of. Neither was the fight that broke out, or the heroes coming together for him.
“COME!”
That voice was always crystal clear in his dream, despite how loud everything else was in reality. It didn’t matter that Deku and Iida were there, holding onto the red-headed, hair-for-brains kid and projecting him through the air. It didn’t matter that it was probably stupid Deku’s stupid plan, because no way would Kirishima have thought of using at least four quirks together in tandem. His heart was always in the right place, but Bakugou had seen the way his friend studied and retained information. That wasn’t his idea.
Still, it only took was one syllable, and he was there, soaring through the sky with pinpoint precision until he grasped Kirshima’s hand. He didn’t need to ask why they were there- it was obvious. A group of fifteen year olds didn’t just show up at villain hideouts unless they had a damn good reason, and he was a damn good reason, indeed. But he never thanked him, either. Was that why he couldn’t stop seeing red?
It’d been months since that scene played out. In that time, All Might retired, U.A. moved its students into dorms, and school resumed. At first, he thought that if he just repaid the damn debt of Kirishima’s night vision goggles, he’d stop feeling some way or another about him. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite work out as planned. And then, absurdly enough, Kirishima managed to get his Provisional Hero License before he did, while he was stuck taking a 3 month training course with Todoroki and some other kids. All of this came together and frustrated Bakugou, especially because of that fleeting feeling that skirted around being identified. He was as brilliant as he was strong and capable- so why, for the love of heroics, did he struggle so much when it came to seeing and being around Kirishima?
“I don’t know, dude. Maybe you like her if you can’t stop thinking about her?” he heard in passing on campus one day. It was getting to that time of year where people started confessing their feelings as if other days weren’t good enough for it. The words didn’t mean anything to him at first, until he was back in his room and trying to focus on his studies. Occasionally, he’d hear footsteps, and he’d wonder if it was Kirishima walking back or leaving. And then he’d realize he was thinking of Kirishima again, and he’d get frustrated to the point where studying was no longer effective. The words he overheard came back out of the blue as he rested for a moment, taking a break from math and listening to music instead.
He sat up and took out his headphones, letting the silence of his room clear his mind.
“...Maybe.. I.. like him?” he slowly and pensively asked himself, the words manifesting into something almost tangible. Having said it, that fleeting feeling came back as if it confirm, ‘Yes, Bakugou, you like him.’ Simultaneously, it felt as if a great burden was relieved when the thought established itself as fact, but also like a weight was placed on his chest to make him face the next problem. What was he going to do about it?
For days, Bakugou tried not to let the newly recognized feelings change anything. He still sat with Kirishima for lunch and chatted with him and the people that gravitated to that red-headed bundle of joy. He still kept his wits about himself and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
...except that he was gazing at him more often, and for longer. Whenever the hardening hero spoke, he listened more attentively. There was greater care and attention given whenever it came to him, and even though Bakugou didn’t catch himself being softer and more serene around Kirishima, everyone else seemed to, save for the equally oblivious person of affection. His peers noticed he was so much easier to be around when it was both of them. He didn’t yell as much. Hell, he didn’t even scowl as fiercely. It became so obvious to everyone else that whenever they talked about Bakugou, it was almost always including Kirishima in one way or another. In private whispers, their friends even began to refer to them as a single unit: Bakushima.
Finally, he had enough. The repression route clearing wasn’t working for him. It was Friday, classes were finished, and their workload was fairly light this weekend. He didn’t care that it seemed like everyone else was trying to get someone to notice them and return their feelings; he didn’t care if it was cliche anymore. He couldn’t just keep pretending that friendship was actually enough- not without trying first. If friendship was the farthest he could ever get, fine, but he wasn’t the type of person who just settled on less without even taking a shot.
“Kirishima, you free tonight?” he asked as they walked back to Heights Alliance. Behind his nerves of steel, his heart pounded and chest tightened with borderline forcefully calm breaths.
“Huh? Did you forget already, Bakugou?” Kirishima asked, looking to his fellow, spiky haired friend. “We’re gonna hang with Kaminari and everyone. I think they wanted to go to the mall or something.”
“Let’s ditch them.” The suggestion came casually, as if it was a completely natural thing to propose.
“What? C’mon, that wouldn’t be manly of us! We told th-”
“I know what we told them,” Bakugou curtly interrupted. He wasn’t trying to snap, but he was hoping he wouldn’t have to be so blunt either. The confusion on Kirishima’s face was too sweet and innocent; he really didn’t have a clue, did he? “I want to see a movie together.”
“Okay… well, we could invit-”
“No.”
At this point, neither of them knew what to say. They made it back to their building and to their floor, and much to Kirishima’s surprise, Bakugou didn’t stop at his own room, but escorted him all the way to his.
“Hey, is everything alright, dude?” he asked as he opened his door, stepping in and allowing his company to join him. The blond closed the door after stepping in, his eyes looking around at anything but his friend, settling on the punching bag. “You’re not acting like yourself. Something up?”
“...yeah,” he admitted with a soft and reluctant sigh. Kirishima sat down in his office chair and spun around to look at Bakugou, gesturing to his bed and inviting him to sit and talk. But he didn’t move. Other than finally looking back at those worried red eyes, he was rigid and stiff.
“Bakugou…” His voice was soft, breaking the silence after what felt like a lifetime.
“I want to go out,” he stated simply.
“...Okay.. well, we’re going to go out with our friends, so I don’t get why you want to ditch them.”
He sighed and closed his eyes, finally beginning to move again. His bag dropped and to the ground and it looked like Bakugou was going to sit down and finally open up- only he walked to him instead, standing with his arms crossed and with his weight shifted on one leg, contrapposto, as if he was sculpted by Grecian hands.
“I want to go out with you- just you.”
“Why..? Did someone piss you off again? Don’t tell me Ashido said something dumb about-”
“What? No. Jeeze, it has nothing to do with raccoon-eyes. You really do have hair for brains,” he half laughed before rolling his eyes and staring straight back into Kirishima’s. “How about this? I want to take you out. Out to a movie, maybe to dinner if you want, or whatever.”
Silence fell again. A nervous and confused smile was cracked on Kirishima’s lips- he was completely caught off guard by this seemingly sudden change in his friend and the request he was making. It was almost as if he was asking him out on a date or something. But then again, it was Bakugou, so there was no way, right?
“But.. why?” was the only thing that seemed to make sense to ask at this point. Every time he brought up their friends, he was shot down, so there was no point in that anymore.
“Damn it, just let me take you out on a stupid date!” Bakugou’s cheeks were red at this point- but not in anger. Sure, he raised his voice, but there wasn’t a bite to his words; he was just louder, as if that would make his intentions clearer. And yeah, his fists were clenched, but that was only normal for someone who was both nervous and somewhat frustrated because they weren’t getting their point across.
He wasn’t sure if it was the words, his blush, or his volume that made the redhead’s eyes widen and cheeks blush, but it didn’t matter. All that was left was for him to respond, and it seemed like he was going to take his sweet time in doing so. Bakugou tried to be patient, but waiting for the answer was stirring up more of a riot in him than he wanted to admit, so he finally broke the silence. “It’s fine if you don’t want to. It’s not a big deal or anything,” he tried to play it cool, even if it meant more to him than he said.
“N-no, that’s not it… I, just, uh…” Kirishima stumbled on his words, looking away. “I mean.. You’re so manly, y’know? And- ” He still couldn’t believe that Bakugou was asking him out. When silence was the only answer he received, he looked back up at the blond in front of him, immediately meeting his red gaze.
“And? That has nothing to do with wanting to go out with you. Just.. hurry up and say ‘yes’ or something.”
There was a long pause as everything processed in Kirishima’s mind. His confused expression finally gave way to a happiness that was somehow both soft and excited. “... but what will we tell the squad?” he finally asked, looking to Bakugou, unable to stop smiling once he started. Once he saw that expression, he couldn’t help but smile a little himself, even if it ended up looking like an impish grin.
“Just tell them I’m taking you on a date and to leave us alone.”
Kirishima’s face flushed to match his hair at how straightforward and confident Bakugou was. He really was the epitome of manliness… and he was going to take him out on a date.
...I love you to death, but I just can’t- I just can’t pretend.

Top 5 Favorite Tracks Released by Aqours’ Seiyuus
This particular topic idea was in development for months (that is until earlier in the summer when all hell broke loose).
Anyways, let’s talk about Aqours.
Tumblr media
Five years...these women have been cranking music for five years and counting, yet over the course of the year, I started to transcend past the Love Live and research further into their solo artist debuts.
Thus, I decided to make a top 5 list of my favorite tracks from their albums. Now, as a disclosure, Anchan and Arisha have been omitted from this list for different reasons. Without further adoosies, let’s get into the top 5 favorites, shall we?
------------------------
When I first got word Aikyan was releasing an EP, I got excited. NO LIFE CODE was cute and vibrant for someone like her to pull off. Heck, I remembered when the title track previewed and immediately grew interest in her music. Among the three, one track stood out so well in both lyrical and composition aspects:
5. 「ゆらゆらら」(小林愛香)
Tumblr media
I love this track so much for being bouncy and lighthearted. It leaves a mellow taste in my mouth, like pumpkin spice. Weird I’d describe the song like that, but que sera que sera. The only thing I’m bummed about is the EP only has three songs. She has such a beautiful vocal range and hope she’ll release a full album someday.
-------------------
4. 「マカロンラブ」( 諏訪 ななか)
I had a tough time deciding to either put this one or “Storytelling” here. Evidently, the “sha la la” was enough to consider “Macaron Love” for the list. I remember hearing this on Spotify late at night and just falling in love with the arrangement and Suwawa’s charm in her voice.
(That reminds me...I want those darn Suwawa plushies).
---------------------
3. 「Butterfly Effect」(鈴木愛奈)
Tumblr media
Ring a Ring was my first album and I remember hearing this track, thinking, “THIS IS MY FUCKING JAM”.
From its eerie, horroresque techno pop, mixed with Ainyan’s gentle, soothing vocals, this song freaking bops. Also, the title alone gave off the impression of the literal meaning behind those words. Then again, I kept also thinking of the mirror effect...XD
Nevertheless, Butterfly Effect is a must listen and one of the best in her album.
------------------
And now, we get to the top two. Before I continue, let’s check out the honorable mentions. These two fell a little short but I want to address them regardless.
HM1: Tiered (相田里佳子)
Tumblr media
Mirror, Mirror almost took the spot for the honorable mention, but the arrangement in Tiered left me in a trance. I cannot get enough of the raw power Rikako leaves within each of her songs. This one felt the most vulnerable, although Me is also cutting hard into herself. Still, the album as a whole is an experience in itself.
HM2: アイシテルは♥グラム
This is a new, last minute entry. Coming from Kanako's debut solo single, Anti World, the final track with a jazz/funk flare that gives me a weird vibe. My initial thought hearing this was “Am I hearing “Sir Duke” or is she inspired by the works of artists like Stevie Wonder?”
Perhaps not? I really want to know more about the story behind this one.
------------
Now, it’s time to shift back into the countdown.
The top 2 were the hardest to deal with, because these two seiyuus are just so freaking amazing in the styles they portray. However, a decision was made and here it is:
2. 36°C (斉藤朱夏)
O M G. This woman is starting to grow on me fast and I’m falling even harder for every time I hear this song. Between that and Kutsuhimo, I cannot get over the MV for 36°C. The cinematography is stunning, yet heartwarming. Shuka’s vocals are innocent, raw, and beautiful. The lyrics are just as tearjerking and the a capella hits the nail on my heart. Although she doesn’t dance much, like the latter mentioned before, the tone of the song fits so damn well. I can’t get over it and I wish more people would appreciate this underrated song.
-------
Alas, though, Shuka would have been the top dog on my list, but someone decided to tap into my interests and ruin my life for the better (I’m a sucker for 80s music). Just by looking at this post, you already know who got #1. On the other hand, which song?!
This was a tough decision, because I LOVE this mini-album and how diverse it is. After much time pondering, there was one song I feel is the best out of the bunch...from Moonrise, my favorite track released by an Aqours’ seiyuu is:
1. 「シンデレラタイム」(降幡愛)
First off, HOW ON EARTH DID I LET THE VOICE OF RUBY KUROSAWA CHANGE ME?!
Second, when I did hear Moonrise for the first time, I was floored after CITY ended. Once the “tra la la” part came in, my heart soared into heavenly euphoria, thinking “THIS IS THE KIND OF MUSIC I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR” (after waiting three freaking months for the album to drop). I don’t know how to describe the love and admiration I have for Furi’s vocals.
(Seriously, she has a range that could, perhaps, maybe rival Saori Hayami. Don’t quote me on that though.)
Getting into the song and its music, yes, this fits the city pop genre, albeit modern. The lyrics, although unknown of its meaning, feel like this was a pipedream, given by the composition in the beginning (there’s a moment after the beginning line where the sound distorts before the percussion drops).
Personally, any of the Moonrise tracks could have been #1, but the arrangement in 「シンデレラタイム」is unlike anything I’ve imagined. Just look at these other tracks:
Love song wo kakete = Caribbean flare, expected of city pop
The Tragedy of Y = I keep thinking of maybe rock ‘n roll but still catchy for having a chorus that is just “NO NO NO NO NO...”
OUT OF BLUE = 80s ballad
Poolside Cocktail = the most 80s new wave track I’ve heard in a long time (what in God’s name am I doing with my life?)
CITY = it’s CITY. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED!?
However, nothing beats the fever dream that is「シンデレラタイ」and I hope Furi will continue to create more TASTEFUL music like this in the near future.
------------
Okay, I might have gotten too carried away.
Oh hey there! Thanks for reading this post! Hopefully, you enjoyed reading my opinions. I’d like to hear what your tastes are in music from these lovely, talented women. I might update this list at a later time (once I finally hear Anchan). Until then, here’s hoping senpai notices you!
Also, 愛は最高です!
