Hi Brat, if you don't mind sharing, what is the role of the Prince of Wales within the Mornachy, is there a blueprint one has to follow? Charles was given a chance to carve out his own path, why is William not afforded the same chance? He has always been consistent if close friends are to be believed, about how he will approach and define his role, majority of Brits across platforms, have mentioned the only gripe they have is the lacking in communication, not to say there aren't those who have a problem with his approach, I really am curious as to what is the role of the heir, since it's always been said, only the Mornach is the star of the show, others are just supporting characters.

1. The problem is really right there within your own question:  “why is William not afforded the same chance?" William most certainly HAS been allowed to to “carve out his own path.” He was supposed to start royal duties full time in 2013 after he finished his military service. Instead, he didn’t become a full-time royal until 2017 at the age of 35, after Prince Philip retired. His father had already been a full-time royal for years prior to that age because he was a full-time royal in his twenties after he finished his military service. 

2. William has utter disdain for regular royal duties, which are--as @helenaaurellia detailed: Giving awards. Opening up new buildings. Unveiling plaques. Handing out prizes. Cutting ribbons. Planting trees. William doesn’t want to do normal royal duties. He believes and acts as if he’s above it. As Queen Mary said, “You are a member of the British Royal Family. We are never tired, and we all love hospitals.” Not William. It’s almost amazing that he and Kate actually showed up to open a hospital last month, when you consider what his normal engagements are these days. 

3. Yes, the monarch is always the “star” of the show; however, the heir to the throne and wife/spouse to the heir are very public jobs. Working royals are unelected, public officials with life tenure. Their job is to be at public events such as opening new buildings, attending public events, etc. Prince Philip completed 22,219 solo engagements between 1952 and 2017. It’s estimated that Philip met 25% of the British public over his royal career. Queen Elizabeth and King Charles have met similar percentages of the British public over their public careers. 

Charles has been doing hundreds of engagements per year since leaving the Royal Navy, aka before Diana. Charles did 585 engagements in 2011, when he was in his 60s. If you search the internets, you can find references to the number of engagements Diana did. Diana did 191 engagements in 1988 and 397 in 1991. In case you didn’t do the math, 1991 is when she had two sons under the age of 10. It is also when Diana had been a member of the BRF for ten years. It didn’t stop her from being out and about and meeting the public. 

We all know William--the heir to the throne--will not reach 397 engagements this year or next year. And probably not before he becomes king if you consider how things are going. It’s pretty pitiful when you consider that William’s mother was able to clock in almost 400 engagements when she was 30, but William is unable to hit the 300-engagement mark in his 40s. 

4. Doing the “bread & butter” engagements is what keeps the royals in contact with regular Britons. I remember reading either an article or book about Charles where it discussed Charles’ ability to figure out how a political issue in rural England would shake out before everything had come to a conclusion. The reason he was able to accurately predict what happened was due to his meeting people in the area over his years of doing engagements. This is the kind of thing someone who is going to be king needs to do. You have to talk to the people you represent on a regular basis, not just the ones you’ve hired to be your advisors. Or the people associated with the causes you endorse. 

William has already created his own echo chamber because he doesn’t go out and meet with people enough on a regular basis. His engagement numbers are abysmal, particularly when you compare them with his father, grandfather, and grandmother’s at the same age. Because William does so few engagements per year, it’s highly unlikely the average Briton will ever meet him. (Or Kate.) Sharp contrast with QEII, Philip, or Charles because they were out and about amongst the public. It would be impossible for William to meet 10% or 25% of the British public over his lifetime because a) he doesn’t go out in public very often and b) does not visit a diverse enough establishments & groups of people.

Ultimately, when it gets down to it, the things William should be doing as heir are things he isn’t doing. 

Earthshot is a nice vanity project, but it does nothing for the average Brit. It may help some projects in some communities around the world, but the UK does not benefit greatly from it. It’s not going to stop climate change. It may not even directly help any communities in the UK to a significant extent. 

His devotion to his foundation & causes is nice, but his father also had causes he was devoted to while he was heir. Significantly, King Charles never dropped his regular royal duties to the exclusion that William does. Moreover, William’s attitude toward regular royal duties is nothing short of arrogant & insulting to other working royals, particularly when you consider that Prince Richard--who did not grow up planning to be a working royal--had to give up his architecture career due to the death of his brother, Prince William of Gloucester, aka the man who inspired William’s name. 

William has fully embraced celebrity pr culture with the public awareness campaigns. Public awareness campaigns are what regular celebrities do for attention and public reputation management. The problem isn’t that William (& Kate) do them, it’s that it’s all they really do when you look at the numbers. 

The job of a royal is “to be applauding what has been done right after the problem has already been solved, to visit all around the country, to make people feel good, to be a figurehead.”

William isn’t interested in doing that. It’s plainly obvious at this point.

Charles has just said a Big F you, to the British public, the CW and those who support the royals, those who have been defending them since this all began, how does Harry get to trash the Royals then, they turn around they will honour the Sussex wishes, when they demand to use their titles, he comes of as a weak spineless Mornach and head of state, whatever goodwill he had, he can expect more boos and heckling no, all that work has been undone. He is truly spineless.

I just logged on and saw the news. I am furious. I have done a spread on why and basically Charles is pandering to Harry and going against the advice of William and his advisors. It's the Princess Consort situation all over again and it confirms my fears that he will be exactly the same as King as he was as Prince of Wales, something that I was hoping against hope would change slightly (I know people don't change a lot, but sometimes they do take up a new attitude when they start a new job, and I was hoping that would be the case with Charles. No such luck).

The backlash from this is going to be horrible for Charles, and he deserves every bit of it imo.

I am waiting for Lady C's take on this so I can see how the palace wants it spun. I am also deciding whether I give up and support the republic movement now, or wait and see what happens over the next 6 months wrt William and the throne. I still support the monarchy in general, but I can not support this action of Charles's. I loathe people who lie and mislead the public. I gave Charles a chance, reluctantly, and he has blown it, so it is over for me with him.

What do you love and hate most about miraculous?

The hate is simple, the direction of the script, a lot of potential thrown away, to simply, the class that has people who have barely received a makeover or who have barely had any screen time to develop their personalities, deserve to be given a miraculous PERMANENTLY, so that it's easier to raise suspicions, Ivan arriving at school with a piercing and Kim (a huge unknown in the script, because, okay, before season 5 he was kind of cool, but after Derision, how does he still get a miraculous?) arriving with a tiara? What's the need? They could very well have them be permanent holders, but one at a time, to have their development, like: I see almost no reason for Kim to receive a miraculous after that episode, as well as other characters, and it would be a great way to develop those less explored in PENALTEAM (I completly hate) and then those who had a good amount of screen time.

Another thing, little diversity, even if only minimally, they could have explored clothing, hair, skin tones better, but I don't have much to complain about, apart from that, because otherwise it would have been a longer text.

About loving, apart from the fact that it's poorly explored, the appearance of some characters, Lila, although I should hate her, she ends up being my favorite character, like: she has personality and she has looks, all that was missing was a miraculous and now she has it, and if she doesn't win (considering that the intelligence of the characters is worse than a stone) I'll give up on the series.

I think maybe the idea of the characters? It's really hard to find something that I totally love, because I love a lot of things, but I judge the choice of script.

They manage to turn any likeable character into a hated one just by mismanaging the script (Chloe, Kagami, Kim), and victimize characters who try/would/do genocide (Gabriel, Felix), like: I was stunned to see that in the end Gabriel was considered a hero, which okay, it was a story so they wouldn't find out he was Mornach, but people… They destroyed the statue of the heroes to put up Gabriel's, simply because he "helped" Ladybug? Just once he helps and he already has a statue, and it took "a long time" for them to get their statues. To make matters worse, all this happened in 9 months? another thing I hate, the timeline that barely makes sense.

Two Asoiaf/FireAndBlood types of fanart I've never seen before but am already itching to draw: Targaryen Mornachs's coins and Mosaics/Frescoes of famous Historical Kings or Lords. HEAR ME OUT HEAR ME OUT-- In The Mystery Knight we learn that while coins of Daeron the Good and his son Aerys were the norm for usage in transactions, a coin bearing the face of Daemon Blackfyre could be considered treason and render itself useless unless you melted it down since its owner wouldn't be able to use it, especially once Bloodraven became the Hand of the King and was determined to root out any possible Blackfyre conspiracy.

Not to mention that HOTD already gave us Valyrian Frescoes in the Red Keep, which I guess were faded out with time or Robert had them all wiped once he moved to the Palace since we know he got rid off everything Targaryen-like in AGOT, but honestly these types of historical artifacts should be present in Asoiaf later, coins bearing Robert's Face and Joffrey's (I don't think they would be able to cut new coins for Tommen with the state of the realm's treasury in ASOS) to signal the new Dynasty, or even walls adorned with scenes of the rebellion and Robert's/Rhaegar's duel at the Trident. Castles with their walls depicting their Founder's history or famous historical members would have been cool too.
