i really enjoy the understated trend in The Owl House that almost everytime we get a character's flashback to something we saw in a previous episode, the lines are slightly off

it always irks me when in media everyone seems to have photographic memory and latches onto the specific phrasing of whatever was said. TOH sometimes has flashbacks quote the original scene directly, but other times it has them be Just Close Enough that if you yourself probably wouldn't spot the difference unless you were paying close attention; they get the gist of it and maybe some specific turns of phrase that stuck with them, but not necessarily the exact literal wording

i especially like how understated it is. often when showing How The Character Remembers Something as different from how it actually happened, stories have the flashback go very overboard in framing things in ways that are blatantly colored by the character's perception, and while that is in itself usually a fascinating glimpse into how they percieve the world, i really like how realistically Just Subtly Different recollections are in The Owl House

#the owl house #sushi speaks #the ones that stick out most are luzs recollection of the promise to her mom and the collectors rhymes #the former is remembered as being harsher than it actually was because it was those unintentional implications that weighed on her most #and the latter because come on who the hell would remember the specific adlib poetry that a spooky shadow child said. #she remembered the vibes as more overtly sinister because i mean the whole experience was sinister #and she did remember the specific wording of 'nine bright hues' because shes smart and gets the implication that it means the covens #but i enjoy the implication that this extends to other memories we have seen #like. raine and edas meeting probably wasnt EXACTLY like she tells it down to the exact words but it was probably largely accurate #its just that its unreasonable for someone to actually remember Literally Every Word of conversations that happened an hour ago #let alone 30 years ago #and ofc amitys dad sounding far more authoritative in her memories of her parents ordering her to cut off contact with willow #we have no indication alador was ever THAT proactive in curating amitys friendgroup #but he was probably present and he probably did back odalia up on the issue #and because amity looks up to her father she internalized it as it being a decision that came from both of them #and as such in her memories theyre both firmly and decidedly ordering her to stop seeing her

i hope the person that catfishes mac is a long lost cousin of dennis called country dennis whos trying to get revenge because he blames city mac for the untimely demise of the love of his life country mac. i think they should meet and their confrontation turns into passionate hatesex turns into the tender beginnings of a new love before country dennis rides his motorcycle away to get some space and dies because city dennis cut the brakes and he wasnt wearing a helmet either and gets flushed down the toilet too to reunite with his lost lover as pipe residue

Astarion tempted kisses with the same audacity he bent fate, and the wizard’s breaths were a lively thing in tow. Generous with how they loosened a string of pleasant sounds after every drag of an inhale, spilling exhales right into the vampire’s mouth the same way his blood would.

Heavy on the tongue. So rich and full of life.

“You-” The pale elf’s words fragmented into a slicing hiss, shaping his mouth around an age-old stanza and the promise of a kiss.

Unspoken. 

...of whispered secrets and warmest fire, have given me solace in the hearth of your desire.

Because worshipping Gale through lyrical verses in his own head was the closest to religion Astarion has gotten ever since the gods had forsaken him and all of his deathless worth. An everlasting presence, half-angel half-hell.

And hell was all around him.

“...you look lovely when you’re all drained like that.” Astarion finished instead. His smile liquid malice and wasted on the wizard’s choppy exhales. Gale’s attention was all but in shambles while the air ruptured from his throat with every practised roll of the vampire’s wrist around him. Rustling fabric and slick sounds. Strokes made fluid by clove oil. “So fresh out of breath. So...” Beautiful. And a step closer to his death.

Astarion leaned in to pull at Gale’s lower lip, grazing fangs over flesh with every intent to tear before settling with a kiss.

First for taste, then for pleasure.

After that, it was easy to fall back into old habits. All flavour and sin. Their mouths as one and their tongues entwined- baptised by Gale’s blood and consecrated by his moans.

An unholy array of deadly delights.

#This was literally just off the top of my head improvising words that rhyme (as is obvious from me rhyming the word #'on' with the word.... 'on' (what's going ON my name is ON' etc. lol) but after actually thinking about it this kind of seems a little #sinister?? why is his name on the news? why is he fleeing town? makes me think of of some guy who's killed #someone or is finally getting caught for his crimes so one last stop before he flees town is he returns home to his husband (who he #calls Hummingbird sometimes I guess) and is like 'erm... tee hee.. I can't tell you why but I shall leave. farewell' etc. #also 'I guess I could show you' having a bad implication like.. yeah I COULD show you the dead bodies and evidence of my crimes #but I will spare you from that and simply let you live in ignorance (at least until you see the news at 10.. but I will be long gone by #then.. eating green beans somewhere lol).. ANYWAY.. 100% unintentional but you could actually almost read some sort of meaning #out of this one. until the green beans part ghhbjb.. I try so hard for everything to just be meaningless gibberish #that has no connection but I suppose sometimes a connection can be made. alas.. a perhaps accidentally Dark seeming song snippet #OR alternate theory. uhh... actually his name is on the news for a good reason. he donated all his money to charity and now #he's fleeing town just because he's embarassed to be publicly recognized.. a shy philanthropist OR an evasive murderer #BOTH versions of him like green beans. which is the truth? up to listener interpretation lol.. Also I #still find it immensely funny for some reason to do this lower sounding style of singing. which not that I really care about like having a #Broad Range or something since I don't think it'd even be possible to have one in my position (as someone #with zero musical/vocial training/etc.) BUT because part of what I find fun is like.. experimenting with all different sorts of sounds #and also doing choir type stuff. So then I do want to be able to sound like multiple people.. if that makes sense? I want to have a really #high voice and the a really low voice and have them sing together and it sounds like a duet or something when it's really just one person. #etc. Thus have a passing interest in learning to adopt different singing styles if I can. because then that's funny and I can do a wider #variety of things like it's all different characters or something as if all the song snippets are done by different people or etc. #(maybe just part of the nature of it being experimental). #And the low voice is always the goofiest sounding to me and very 'fake' seeming I guess #like blatantly is just someone putting on an affect or whatever but still in a kind of fun jokey way lol #beepo tag
