RWBY: Next Steps
This is just a design collection (remember when I used to do those? 'Winter Mission', 'Summer Tour'?? Fun times~)...and it may be my last. Its only real purpose is to give me something fun to draw for the NeverFell Projects wrap-up series. The recent Adam and Cinder designs are technically part of this collection, too. ^^
These were much harder to do than those two, though...I've spent ~2 months chipping away at this set, trying and retrying to address several different RWBY design criticisms while still making the girls look good. ಥ_ಥ I've finally begun approaching success, though, so I wanted to talk a bit about these ideas.
Ruby The only one I managed to design in one try. ^^; This was my answer to the question I felt was posed by Ruby's Vol. 7 design: i.e. "how do we do a new Ruby design that feels more 'mature'??" Because I never liked how the V7 design attempted to do that. :/
Between the new hairstyle and the new 'generic adventurer' clothes, it felt less like they were trying to evolve Ruby Rose and more like they didn't like her original design and wanted to get as far away from it as possible. V1-Ruby was such an iconic look (and STILL IS), and yet there's no trace of it in V7-Ruby. None of the goth-lolita style or playful edge that even V4-Ruby managed to preserve...instead they just scrubbed everything out to start from scratch, with a new design that's honestly 'meh' at best.
So what I did was stick closely to V1-Ruby, while adding just a few big changes to make the look distinct. You say a 'combat skirt' is too childish for an older Ruby? Well then we'll make it shorts...but shorts that are just as frilly and cute as the original skirt, with a similar overall shape. You say her original hairstyle is too boring and 'safe'? Well, then we'll change it...by simply shaving half of it off. It's a much edgier look that simultaneously preserves the original shape of her hair: from every angle except front and back, her silhouette will remain the same.
You say you want to give her new shoes, but don't want the fandom to make fun of you for covering them in dozens of belts again? Here's a wild idea: cowboy boots. ^^ A totally unexpected, unique item that still fits in with the antique-ish vibe of her goth clothes.
Basically, I just wanted to prove that you can do something dramatically different with Ruby without completely abandoning her fashion sense.
Criticisms: The details are still lacking; I think I should work some red accents into her corset and boots. Also, I originally designed this outfit with a white shirt, and I kinda want it back (she had the team colors! R, W, B, and Y! ;_;)...the problem is that it clashes with the sheer thigh-highs. One must go...I'm sure I'll figure it out
Weiss The toughest of the bunch: I did three different Weiss designs before landing on this one. ^^;;; The big epiphany came when I realized that Weiss looks her best when she mirrors Ruby. The girls' original design concepts share a lot of features; I feel like the characters were designed to look like they belong together, and figured I might as well honor that.
ALSO-- and this was the biggest priority for Weiss' design-- I firmly believe that she should not look like a princess anymore. From a character designers' perspective, it is ludicrous that they gave her the giant Disney ballgown in the same volume where they put classism at the center of the plot and have her send her bourgeoisie father to jail. That right there is the definition of mixed messages...
I thought the whole point of Weiss' character arc was to distance herself from the uber-rich parasites of her family and fellow 'Atlas elites'. I thought we cemented that when she officially lost her "heiress" title in V4. o_O I expected her next look to ditch the crown and visually show that she's past the point of 'rebelling'-- there's no more authority in her life for her to rebel against; she's free now! But alas...
So as usual, I had to do it myself. This Weiss outfit is definitely still fancy, with the coattailed vest and ruffled sleeves, but there's a lot less 'decoration'; fewer jewels, fewer details. The construction is straightforward and simple. And of course, no more tiara. Instead I decided to give her a li'l snow pea flower and ribbon, which ended up inspiring her new periwinkle purple-y color scheme. Like her original design, it's actually fairly colorful, but does its job and puts the emphasis on the white elements.
Criticisms: ...Not many, this came out pretty good. ^^ I might reconsider the black coattails, but if I do I'll probably just switch it out with the indigo inner vest. I like the idea of her outfit construction mirroring Ruby's, but her color scheme mirroring Blake's, since they have a closer bond in NeverFell.
Blake Blake designs are notoriously difficult; if you wanna hear some great reasons why, I suggest you check out this old Twiins iink RWBY design ranking video, which always helps guide me when I do redesigns for the main 4. Anyway, this phenomenon makes it hard to describe what I did...I guess you could say I tried to combine all the best elements of all her outfits, while clinging to the 'fancy action girl' vibe of her original design.
I'm most proud of her new hairstyle-- I dunno why, I just enjoyed working on it and making those decisions. ^^ It's hard to tell, but it IS shorter; now shoulder-length instead of back-length. We make up for this with additional volume, emphasizing the waves in her hair texture by pushing them outward. And most notably: she keeps the ribbon. She just wears it differently, using it to accentuate her ears instead of hiding them. This way, we keep the point of interest on her head while still showing her character growth.
Criticisms: Infinite, countless. This is a good look, but something is definitely still off. ^^;;; I think some additional detail in certain places (not sure where yet...) might help 'finish' it, so to speak. Maybe some extra yellow accents...? Also, the bow obviously gets lost in her hair this way. I've tried several color changes and don't like any of them; I think I may just have to texture it differently in the final product. Fingers crossed...
Yang Another tough one...I only made 2 design drawings, but the colors took several rounds of trial and error. I think my excitement over finally arriving at a good color scheme TODAY was what spurred me to make this post. ^^;
Anyway...there is a specific piece of Yang design criticism I hear fairly often that drives me up the wall: people commonly complain that she doesn't wear enough yellow; that she doesn't represent her character color well because all she wears is a yellow shirt. And the character designer in me wants to rip my teeth out whenever I hear this, because it blindly ignores the giant fairy-tale-inspired mass of yellow that is her hair, and the purposely attention-grabbing pops of yellow that make up Ember Celica. They're not "clothes", technically, but they're still part of the design! It's like saying a character with green skin can't represent the color green if all their clothes are black...without realizing that maybe their clothes are black BECAUSE they have green skin, in order to draw your attention to it...!! (╬▔皿▔)╯I just jifjkdsnfksahujknsjnfufh
...Anyway, anyway...the point is, it's difficult to take a character design with so much natural yellow in it and add yellow clothes and still have it read well. But because I like a challenge, I decided to take it on. I think the difference between the mustard leather and neon yellow hair is large enough to make it work, while still feeling casual enough for everyday wear. The champagne off-white she wears in her 'Hunter' outfit (which heavily inspired this) looks great, but it feels too 'classy' to me; like something specifically meant to dazzle the audience with her beauty for one special adventure, not for her to wear often.
On that note, my secondary mission with this design was just to make Yang look cute again, by following the structure of her V1 look, and even adding a little skirt on top of her battle shorts, which looks surprisingly natural considering she almost never wears one.
I don't know what happened in the canon to make the character designer forget the 'Yellow Beauty' part of her character concept; tbh even if her gender presentation gets more masculine she can still look pretty. Designs like Ozma, V7 Qrow and V4 Ren show that they understand this, but choose to cover Yang up in flavorless sheets of beige anyway. :T Making sure she always has a boob window isn't enough; the clothes themselves need to say something too.
Criticisms: ...Honestly, none? I think this might be solid. :> We'll see what happens when I draw it properly. I hope the white socks work out, because then she'll successfully be wearing the RWBY color scheme, which fits her (former, implied...) role as the glue holding the team together.

Soft Hands
Tumblr media
“Fuck. So, none of them fit?” you said, speech slurred slightly, giving your set of keys another double take. You tried to focus your eyes extra hard on them properly, again. Then you gave it another go, holding a key you knew wasn’t meant for this lock, but, maybe it was, you know? Couldn’t hurt to at least give it a little try.
Joe was laid out on the sofa, TV displaying a random Halloween film that was on with its volume turned low, his attention mostly on the phone in his hands.
He’d heard you from the moment the taxi doors had opened, filling your quiet street with loud girly screeches that shouted drunken heartfelt goodbyes and laughed when you had tried to slam the door shut, but missed the door entirely with your hands. You’d already committed your body weight into it and practically launched yourself onto the pavement. One of your friends had to then also climb out to make sure you were okay and had to drag you away from the car by your arms, so they’d be able to drive off without catching any of your limbs under the tires.
You were all giggles and swirly vision, which was ultimately why you’d tried to open your front door with the wrong keys.
After finally locating the right key, missing the lock with it about six times, suddenly, it fit, and you stumbled into your flat.
Joe couldn’t help but chuckle softly to himself as he’d listened to you muttering swearwords under your breath outside on the doormat, eyes still glued to his phone.
He hadn’t gotten up to help but had instead been curious how long it was going to take you, gaging how drunk you were before he’d even laid eyes on you.
“Hands up, it’s the– it’s the police,” you spoke into your flat after slamming the door shut behind you and you heard Joe snicker from the sofa.
“Eddie, you’re a wanted fu– fugitive, give yourself–” you hiccuped as you slowly took careful steps into the living room, trying your very best to remain steadily on your feet.
“Give yourself up to the law,” it was difficult to remain stood up with your arms unable to help you balance yourself as you held out a plastic toy gun that scanned the room before it landed with its barrel pointed at Joe.
“Hopper...” Joe said from his spot on the sofa in an American accent as if he was stood face to face with his arch enemy.
Then he paused for just a second before laughing loudly and exclaiming, “Your full bum is out!”
It took you a second too long to pan your eyes down, noticing how your skirt had fully run up over your cheeks, exposing your underwear through your sheer tights.
You huffed a laugh at the look of it.
“Oh,” was all you could say before sloppily trying to straighten your outfit, but it was to no avail. You wanted to get out of it, anyway.
“Did you have fun?” Joe put his phone down and grinned at your messy hair, the aviator sunglasses all tangled up on top of your head, and Joe thought back to how just hours earlier you’d been faffing at it for ages with your straightener.
It had been a while since Joe’d seen you like this, a full mess of a girl.
You’d been stupidly excited for Halloween this year, but your boyfriend hadn’t been. For obvious reasons. Not in the mood to pose for a million photos with people dressed like Eddie Munson, he’d decided to just stay in for the night and maybe hand over some sweets if kids were to ring your doorbell.
You’d been all pouty and sulky about it – “Come on, dress up as Eddie yourself, no one will assume it’s actually you! – and even tried convincing him to come along by dressing up as a stupidly slutty sheriff, overdoing it completely.
Like you were meant to, on Halloween.
When your friends had picked you up earlier that evening, you'd pointed at your boyfriend and confidently said, "Don't wait up," before immediately regretting it, laughing, and saying, "No please wait up, I'm going to get so drunk.”
You'd been right.
When you’d stopped sending Joe pictures of you with random people dressed as Stranger Things characters and instead, had started trying to Facetime him, he knew it was only because you were too far gone to text coherently.
“I got hit on tonight,” you replied to Joe’s question giddily, almost erratic, like you’d revealed a very exciting secret and stalked your way towards him.
“Did you?” Joe chuckled, still in the same relaxed position on the sofa, legs outstretched along the seats, moving them apart slightly as you got closer, bracing for impact.
“I did,” you smiled until your eyes went squinty, so pleased with yourself for it.
“Everyone loved sexy Jim Hopper,” you let yourself fall onto Joe.
“Sexy Jim Hopper got a lot of free drinks tonight,” you sighed heavily, the alcohol thick on your breath, and you pressed your face into Joe’s chest. You could just go to sleep right there.
“Mmh, well,” Joe mused as he gave you a squeeze. “Sexy Jim Hopper smells like it too, come on,” Joe patted you on the bum, urging you to get up off of him as he tried to sit up himself.
You didn’t do anything to help him, eyes already closed, making Joe grunt loudly as he fought against the bodyweight of the two of you. He continued to push you back up onto your feet before guiding you to the bathroom by your shoulders.
Joe ended up having to curl his arm around you to open the bathroom door, because when you reached it, you just stood in front of it and held your toy gun in your hands, pressed up to the side of your face.
When the door swung open, you stretched your arms out and as you did, the toy slipped from your hands and loudly clanged as it landed in the tub.
“Jesus Chr– how many times have you done that tonight?” Joe ducked down and flinched in reaction to the sudden loud noises. You just gave him a dumb smile, remembering the amount of times you’d scurried across the length of the several bars and pubs you’d visited to retrieve your prop.
“Guns can be a weapon in more ways than the obvious one,” you tapped a finger to your temple as if you were feeding Joe a crumb of great wisdom. If you’d said it any slower, you’d have been talking backwards.
Joe pulled down the lid to the toilet seat and made you sit on it. He then reached for your toothbrush, dotted on a bit of toothpaste, and turned back to see you slumped back, head hanging totally unsupported, and your eyes closed.
“Baby, come on,” Joe said, not getting a reaction out of you. He looked at you a second, reached a hand over, hesitated for a moment, and then went for it anyway.
Hunching over you, he grabbed your cheeks in his hand and squeezed his fingers together until your mouth opened. He was ready to brush your teeth for you like you were a toddler. You whined loudly, frowned deeply, and smacked his hand away before he could, though.
It resulted in your toothbrush falling from Joe’s hand and landing face down onto the tiles.
“What are you–” Joe started, then sighed, frustration building.
“Bed,” you moaned, reaching out to use Joe for leverage as you wanted to get back up on your feet.
“No, no. I remember you specifically telling me that I wasn’t allowed to let you fall asleep in your make-up,” Joe pushed you back down before reaching for your toothbrush and tossing it into the sink.
As his face moved closely in front of you, you suddenly grabbed hold of it with both hands, your grip entirely too strong for it to be cute or endearing. You squished his cheeks together, leaving his mouth a funny shape that you pressed a few rough pecks onto.
“Look at this man,” you said, and let your frown grow deeper as your grip became stronger.
You wanted to crush him like you’d want to squeeze cute kittens, entirely unable to handle the overwhelming feeling of adoration you felt.
“So handsome.”
Joe wrapped your hands into his own softly and then slowly pried them off him before pressing a kiss onto your lips. Drunk you had a weird way of showing affection, but Joe was kind of into it and he couldn’t stop the smile that tugged on his cheeks.
“I’ve been saying it all night,” you said, head now falling back against the wall behind you as you watched Joe reach for your make-up wipes.
“No thanks, I’ve got a handsome boyfriend. Thanks for the drink, I’ve got a handsome boyfriend. Shame my boyfriend’s not here, he’s very handsome.”
“Eyes closed,” Joe said, now holding a still folded wipe in his palm and when you closed your eyes, he swiped it across your cheeks with an incredibly careful touch.
“No,” you corrected him and pressed his hand harshly into your face. “More pressure, soft hands,” Joe huffed a laugh at the given nickname.
Joe obliged, but when it came to your eyes, he didn’t want to hurt you. With soft downstrokes over your lashes, Joe wasn’t getting rid of any mascara or any eyeliner.
"Your hands, they're too soft!" you whined in annoyance before taking over, rubbing harshly at your eyes over the wet fabric.
“Careful!” Joe directed. “We’re removing the make-up, not your actual eyes,” and you giggled until it made you go floppy.
It took entirely too long, and way too much effort to eventually untangle the sunglasses from your hair, get you out of your outfit and miraculously to also brush your teeth.
When Joe finally announced that he was going to take you to bed, you’d wiggled two tired eyebrows at him suggestively.
“Oh yea? What’s my handsome boyfriend going to do to me?” you tried your best to be seductive, failing miserably in your drunken haze, barely able to carry yourself into your bedroom.
“Your tired boyfriend is going to make sure you don’t get any sick on the sheets or choke on your vomit,” he said, pushing you into your bedroom by the shoulders like he’d gotten you over into the bathroom earlier too.
“No, you’re so boring, I didn’t dress like that all night for you to just go to sleep,” you said, hands reaching behind you to grab at his crotch. Joe only narrowly managed to avoid them.
The second you saw the bed, though, you were gone. Plummeting into the pillows, you didn’t even bother getting under the covers properly.
So, Joe helped, slinging your legs into the bed, pulling the covers over you, placing a bucket down next to you alongside a tall glass of water on your bedside table with a painkiller carefully placed next to it for when you’d wake up the next morning.
When he got into bed next to you, Joe was surprised when you moved over closer to him as he got comfortable.
“Come here,” you said with your eyes closed, and Joe wasn’t sure if you were still awake, or talking in your sleep.
“Get it up here near my face, I’ll suck you off,” and Joe paused to look at you, a laugh stuck in his throat, ready to slip out at a moment’s notice, but then he swallowed it when he saw that you’d truly fallen asleep now.
“Sleep tight,” Joe pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, wrapping an arm around your waist, fingers curling 'round the side of it and nuzzling into you before letting himself drift off to sleep as well.

“And we'll have Halloween on Christmas.
And in the night, we'll wish this never ends.
         We'll wish this never ends."
You swayed around in circles, careful not to let the microphone cord wrap around your block-heeled Mary Janes. The minimal drums and guitar kicked in, with the faded background vocals echoing I miss you. Your pleated black skirt swayed around you, following your lead.
This was your favorite Tuesday Karaoke genre, the emo and pop-punk throwbacks being your jackpot. It was a classic go-to for you, the meme-ification of the song riling you up even further. And you were going to prove it.
“WHERE ARE YOU?” you nearly screamed, too excited to get to your favorite part. You imitated Tom DeLonge’s voice, concentrating on getting it right. Maybe a little bit more than you should’ve, but— “AND I’M SO SORRY! I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight!”
You really thought that the meme of it all would bring the five drunks here together. That you’d earn at least a chuckle from someone other than the bartender. But maybe you’d miscalculated your audience. Because everyone was sitting, mainly ignoring you as they either talked to each other or stared at their phones.
But was that going to stop you? Fuck. No.
“Don’t waste your time on me.
You’re already the voice inside my head.”
“Woo!”
You glanced over at the voice to see some guy standing there. A very attractive some guy, with long curly hair and bangs. A tight t-shirt hidden by a leather jacket with…a denim vest over it? His hands were stuffed in his pockets, but that didn’t stop him from shimmying both his shoulders and swinging his hips around. Rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet as he danced.
He was paying attention to you. Why was he of all people paying attention to you?
You couldn’t deny that you liked it, liked the way he moved no matter how stupid it looked. So, you decided to give him a show, pointing at him as you came in for another round.
“Don’t waste your time on me.
You’re already the voice inside my head.”
He pulled his hands out, cupping them around his mouth. His many silver rings and chain bracelets shone in the light, along with sparkly blue nails.
“Do ‘Freebird’!”
That made you laugh harder than you thought you’d ever laughed before, having to pull the mic away from your lips from the sheer volume that erupted from you. And above the sound of the music, you could hear his guffaw of laughter mixing with yours.
When you looked back at him, a huge grin on your lips, you couldn’t help but feel something tingle in your stomach. Like a small fizzle, something resembling a firework that sputtered out almost immediately after being ignited.
         “I miss you."
You replaced the mic back on its stand before stepping down from that shitty excuse for a stage. Immediately, you were face-to-face with this pretty guy.
“Hello, it’s amazing to meet you,” he said.
You smiled. “Likewise. Thanks for being my biggest fan.” Gesturing around the nearly empty bar, you added, “Tough crowd tonight.”
“Oh, I gotta get your album autographed. And your mixtape. And the collector’s edition.”
“Oh my god.” You giggled as you shook your head. “You’re too kind.”
You introduced yourself, desperate to put a name to his face.
“I’m Eddie,” he said, sticking his hand out for a handshake. You took it without thought, his palm sticking to yours with a bit of sweat. “You’re not gonna sing ‘Freebird’?”
“I don’t think she’s singing it, dude,” another voice said lightheartedly behind you.
You dropped your hand from Eddie’s nearly immediately, absolutely embarrassed for reasons you couldn’t understand.
As you turned, you saw another guy there, with silky honey hair and warm brown eyes, rocking a post-work look. Popped white button-down, navy slacks with shiny mahogany loafers that clanked against the floor when he walked.
His hands were resting on his hips, showing off a nice watch. One lifted, extending toward you. “I’m Steve.”
Taking it, you noticed that you weren’t as affected by his touch. Maybe it was because his hand wasn’t sweaty.
As you introduced yourself, you were almost trampled by a very cute girl.
“Sorry I’m late,” she said with a harsh breath, arm slung around Steve. “Jeez, they really made me grovel to get off on time and the traffic is hell. Maybe we should go back to—” She noticed you then, straightening her posture. Her hairstyle could barely be considered a ponytail from the way half of her short hair had spilled out. A black button-down now unbuttoned, hanging down her sides with a black tank top underneath. Paired with black jeans and an array of thin rings. God, she was cute. “Hello, new friend. I’m Robin.”
“Hi Robin, I’m new friend.”
She opened her mouth to respond, but Steve took over the conversation, asking her about her shift.
You tried to pay attention, but it was brought back to Eddie when he asked, “Can we be best friends?”
You let out a small laugh before nodding. “It’s a done deal,” you responded, earning a high-five.
“Wanna come hang with us?” he asked, pointing his thumb at Steve following Robin to a small table in the back. When had they decided that?
Looking back at Eddie, you weighed your options. You could continue to sit by yourself, reading a book in a bar and listening to them have fun; laugh. Could let yourself wonder what they were talking about. Could take the easy way out, could walk out of there right now and leave yourself wondering what could’ve been with someone like Eddie.
But that wasn’t really the easy route.
And you wanted to take the easy route.
“How could I refuse?”
Tumblr media
“So why’re y’all out tonight of all nights?” you asked, placing a napkin under your vodka Redbull to fiddle with something.
Eddie was looking at you, sitting on the opposite side of the table, holding your eye contact in a way that was making you nervous. Because he was lifting his glass to his lips and right on those pretty lips of his was the softest smirk you’d ever seen. And there his dimples were, deepening as he took a sip.
“We’re celebrating,” Robin said, smiling at you.
You turned your attention back to the conversation at hand, letting out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding.
Steve nodded. “We moved here five months ago today.”
“Hell fucking yeah we did!” Eddie exclaimed, raising his glass before clinking it with Steve and Robin’s. You were surprised when he faced you, gesturing towards your drink.
As you lightly tapped your drink to his, you couldn’t help but notice the way he was looking at you now. Like you were already something to him.
“Well, congratulations,” you said, still making eye contact. “Do y’all like it here?”
“It’s pretty different from the world we’re from,” Eddie said with a nod.
“Feels very, uh,” Steve stumbled, snapping his fingers. “Can’t think of it…”
“Upside down?” Robin offered.
Snap. “Yes, that. Exactly. Upside down,” Steve said, pointing at her.
“What about you?” Eddie asked.
Your eyes widened. “Me?” All three nodded. “Oh, I’m from Tennessee. I came here for college and then ended up staying.”
Eddie nodded along as you spoke. “You like it here?”
“Yeah, I actually do,” you said. “It’s the first place that’s started to feel like home.’”
Steve smiled. “I hope we all start feeling that way.”
“Oh, I think I’m already there,” Eddie said, shamelessly holding your stare as he lifted his drink back up to his lips again. It was soft, sweet—something that he wasn’t currently sharing with the other two.
No, it was just you.
God, he was hot.
When you looked back at Steve and Robin, you noticed Robin tilting her head at you, like she was observing you or something. Watching you. Studying you. Whatever the right word for it was, she was doing it.
“Rob, we should get up there,” Steve said, nudging her.
She returned his nudge with a more forceful one. “And sing what, dingus?”
“‘Livin’ on a Prayer’!” Steve exclaimed.
“Are you kidding me?” Robin asked. “I’m not singing ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’.”
Tumblr media
“Woah-oh, we’re halfway there!” Steve shouted.
“Wo-ah, we’re livin’ on a prayer!” Robin shouted back.
You and Eddie were sitting at the bar, laughing as you watched the two go back and forth. It had started as a field trip to get another drink and then ended with you sitting on the stools. Eddie had followed your lead wordlessly.
“They’re incredible,” you said and really meant it. How they convinced Craig to let them sing a song outside of the theme was astonishing. Maybe Steve gave him heart eyes. Craig was such a sucker for a pretty face.
“I have not seen Robin this drunk in a while,” Eddie commented. “She’s something else.”
“Are you gonna sing?” you asked, turning your attention back to him.
He chuckled. “No, maybe next time.”
“Not a singer?”
“I am, actually,” he replied with that special smile he’d given you earlier. “I just convinced my bandmates to move down here after they graduate back home.”
“Oh, that’s really cool! What’s the name?”
“Corroded Coffin.”
“Metal?” you questioned.
“How’d you guess?”
You shrugged. “A hunch.”
That is the most metal band name I’ve ever heard, you thought to yourself.
“You listen to metal?”
Laughing, you pointed at your outfit. “Clearly.”
His eyes seemed to spark up. “Really?”
“You make that seem like it’s such a big deal,” you said. “Or are you one of those guys that’s all ‘Women don’t even know real music. Name six of their albums.’”
Eddie took a sip of his whiskey, all the while shaking his head. “Nah, I think those guys are assholes. It’s not like women aren’t making the same music about more important shit anyways.”
“Correct answer,” you said, pointing at him before taking another swig of your drink.
He shrugged, scratching the top of his head. “I think it’s wild just ‘cause I come from a small town where the mere idea of liking that genre is, like, unheard of.”
You snorted. “Where are you from?”
“Hawkins, Indiana.”
“That sounds fake, I’m so sorry.” He laughed. “But, to be fair, I don’t know much about Indiana.”
“I wouldn’t expect you to. Fuck, I wouldn’t wish it on you, either.”
“Well, consider yourself lucky. There’s lots of people in Atlanta who like metal. But beware of the weird Republican-looking guys who listen to butt rock. Oh, and the skinheads. I made that mistake once and I’ll never be the same.”
“Seriously?”
Trying to get the flashback out of your head, you stated plainly, “You’d be surprised how easy it is to think you’re around like-minded people before you realize where you are.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “Was it like Green Room?”
“Kinda, just with less death,” you said before pausing. “Or maybe I didn’t stay around long enough to find out.”
“Shit. Makes sense,” he said. “So, are you waiting for someone? A boyfriend…or girlfriend? Partner?” Eddie sighed when you laughed, putting a hand over his face before waving it around. “I’m sorry, I’m not used to being in a cool place like this. I don’t know why I thought anyone would be straight here, least of all you.”
You started laughing harder as he gestured to your outfit. With your skirt and Mary Jane’s, you had a simple black crop top on and spike bracelets. Almost as many rings as him. A simple tattoo choker. You were a blatant neon sign with GAY written in cursive and an arrow flashing at you.
“No, it’s alright. I’m a raging semi-goth bisexual.”
“No way, same here just with metal. And my buddy Steve is bi, too.”
The two of you looked over at Steve who was doing some variation of a hip thrust and pretending to play the guitar at the same time.
“Is he dating your other friend? They seem close.”
Robin whipped her head around as she pretended to play the drums before her head collided with Steve’s and they paused to have a bickering match.
“Robin? Nah. They’re kinda a package deal but they’re platonic with a capital P, as she likes to say. And she’s only into girls.”
“Right, of course.” Some part of you felt an itch that you couldn’t help but scratch. “Uh, are you dating Steve?”
That made Eddie cackle so loudly that even Steve and Robin looked over.
“No, absolutely not,” he finally said. “I’m not dating anyone, least of all Steve.”
You let out a hum. “A gaggle of queers.”
“Got your own gaggle of queers, then?”
You shook your head, watching his smile fall. “Lost all my friends a few months ago,” you explained. “Some my fault, others not.”
You couldn’t help but shrug, trying not to go back to all the shit talking and the fights and the blocking and the tears and the loss. The late nights wondering how you were so blind to the manipulation. The games. The accusations you made against the innocent. The moment you fell to the ground when you realized that you were just the pawn in a game made to humiliate someone else. Someone you considered a close friend.
You’d burned your bridges with the assailants but lost your best friend in the end.
Senior year of college was not what you’d expected it to be.
“Sometimes you trust the wrong people and end up hurting the right ones. Either way, you get burned from a flaming double-edged sword. And then you graduate all alone.”
“That sucks,” Eddie said, his tone changing. “I hate that that happened to you.” He paused, giving you a glance before putting his shoulders back and pretending to wield a sword. “Fear not!” he said in a low voice. “For I am here to lead you from the realm of darkness and into the world of victory!”
You giggled, shaking your head before clearing your throat. Mimicking his posture, you said, “I would be more than honored, my lord!”
As you fell into fits of laughter, your smile fell. “Sorry, I don’t mean to dump all that on you. Sometimes I just have no filter and—”
“No,” he interrupted. “I don’t either. It’s alright. I kinda like talking to you about—”
“Hey, Eddie,” Steve said, approaching you two. “Rob and I are thinking of heading out. Are you coming?”
You watched Eddie’s eyes flicker from Steve to you before he shook his head. “Nah, I think I’m gonna stay out for a little longer.”
For some reason, that made you feel all bubbly inside.
Despite hiding your smile, you caught Robin’s eyes on you again, eyebrows raised at you with some kind of crooked smile on her face.
“Have fun,” she said, glancing between you and Eddie before taking Steve’s arm and dragging him out of the bar.
When the door shut behind them, you turned back to face Eddie.
“You’re staying,” you stated with a playful tone.
“Uh, yeah. I’m talking to my new best friend.”
Tumblr media
“You’re telling me that the only time you watched Lord of the Rings was at the beach?” Eddie looked at you like you were crazy, causing you to giggle. “What about the beach says, Let’s go to Mordor, shall we?”
“Listen!” you exclaimed. “My mom and my sister would go to a DVD rental place by one of the grocery stores. Well, then Redbox after video stores closed. But, anyways, every year they had Lord of the Rings on display first. So, they decided that that was that.”
Walking side by side, you and Eddie headed to your cars, sharing the last cigarette in his pack. The bar had closed, the first time you’d ever been kicked out of one. But you and Eddie weren’t done talking.
“And those were the only movies you watched?”
You shrugged. “Basically. Unless you count the time I rented Saw and nearly shat my pants.”
Eddie paused at his car, a rather creepy looking van, looking like he was considering something before he ran around the car. Without any hesitation, you tried to beat him to the other side. But he faked you out, coming back around and scaring you.
“I’d like to play a game,” he growled. You squealed involuntarily, jumping back to escape him. But he continued to chase you around his van. “What’s your name?”
You smirked, surprising him by turning around and pushing him back. “My name is Very Fucking Confused, what’s your name!”
Giggles spilled from your lips, colliding with his in some kind of harmony. It was so natural, the way you fell into tandem with one another. The way you were leaning into one another already, laughter mixing with labored breaths as you tried to catch them.
You couldn’t believe just how easy it was with Eddie, especially after months and months of loneliness. There was a part of you that had given up on any form of friendship. A little voice that told you that no one would be willing to listen when you spoke. No one who could be as goofy as you were. Readily give back what you put out.
And it was something that you really hoped you wouldn’t lose.
“This was really fun,” you said. “You’re really cool.” Before you sounded stupid, you added, “Y’all seem really fun.”
Eddie held a soft smile, reaching his hand out to you. “Here, give me your phone. I’ll give you my number.” You handed it over without any protest. “Let’s hang out in the next few weeks.”
“I’d love that.”
Your smile was slipping. That was just something people said. Nothing ever followed through and you knew that all too well. Any date you tried to go on. Any new interaction with coworkers in passing. Anyone you casually talked to at Go Ask Mary.
“What about next Thursday?” he asked, handing your phone back to you. “Are you free?”
A smile made its way to your face as you stared in shock. “Yeah, I have that day off.”
“Same. I’ll jot it down in my calendar,” he responded with a growing smile before unlocking the door and jumping into his van.
“Welcome to Atlanta, Eddie,” you said, looking up at him.
Leaning down, he gave you a final handshake. You took it, noticing that it was a lot less sweaty than before.
“I’m really starting to like it here,” he said.
And you gazed at each other for a moment, continuing to hold each other’s palms, a special look in your eyes that was reserved for each other. Like this look was going to be a continual thing. Like this was just the start of something. You just couldn’t figure out what exactly that something was.
Then Eddie seemingly flinched, pulling his hand away.
“Thanks for being my new best friend,” he said finally, scratching his cheek before placing it back on the steering wheel.
A lump in your throat formed as you took a step back. Put your hands together behind your back. Squeezed for some kind of comfort to satiate the ache in your palm.
“Thanks for asking,” you replied.
“See you next Thursday?”
“See you next Thursday.”
He shut his door then, leaving you to turn on your heels to trudge towards your own. You noticed that he waited to back out until you got in your car, giving you a wave before driving off.
And you watched his van go, taking him farther away from you. Though you knew you’d see him again in just a week, you really wished it had been now.
Maybe you should’ve known then, should’ve understood what that was going to mean in the future. But hindsight is 20/20 and you’ve never been sure what that even meant. Perhaps it would’ve saved you a lot of distress. A lot of jealousy. A lot of insecurity. If things had transpired differently, maybe you could’ve avoided everything that came to fruition.
But instead, you drove home. Picked out your clothes for work the next day. Brushed your teeth. Got into bed. Turned some YouTube video on. Let the darkness fill your room. All the normal parts of your routine.
Except for the buzz of your phone, a sound that you were still startled by after months of near silence.
It was from Eddie.
can’t wait for next week!
With a smile and droopy eyes, you sent a reply.
Me neither.

I am a woman of weak will with no excuse for this @moosemonstrous thank you for being my most trusted enabler advisor and @cicada-candy thank you for your encouragement <3
WOE. GHOST RIDER MAGICAL GIRL AU HELLFIRE GALA FITS BE UPON YE.
Tumblr media
Ok so the first genre is High fashion/Familiar themed!
Robbie is in something edgy and asymmetrical. Lots of variations in texture with solid, glitter and mesh areas. A fun grungy makeup style that I thought would suit him well. The more solid areas have a snakeskin texture that I'm not sure came through in the image export sorry lol. Delicate silver pieces help to balance out the harshness of the general aesthetic of the dress. Overall tried to mimic the slithering motion of a snake with the twisting pattern of his dress materials and made it a little more obvious with the snake bracelet.
Danny's focuses on layered sheer materials. Lots of feather and wing embroidery to connect him to his familiar. Nice silver chain around the waist to give the dress some shape and structure and help separate the top and bottom areas. Leg slit to create some interest so things aren't too symmetrical and boring (also you have moose to thank for the boob window lmao). A fun little wing pendant for the back detail ties it together pretty well I think.
JOHNNYYYYYYYYYY pulled a LOT of Avril Lavigne vibes and I'm honestly not sure why. I guess I just really wanted to see in some 'trashy' Y2K fashion (trashy in quotation marks cause I think it's COOL actually) and she's the first person that came into mind. Fur at the top of the dress contrasts with the shiny/glitter material on the rest of it. White tips on the ends of his boots and gloves because of Zaradogs lil sock feet <3. A fun ponytail with some black chain necklaces finishes everything pretty well.
FRANK. DIFFICULT AS ALWAYS. HAD to include fur I had to connect him to Cat-stle somehow. Other than that his look is very Matrix inspired. Very slick and fairly practical. SPIKY ass boots and a fun laceup back add some detail to the otherwise very simple fit. Some mesh areas on the jacket also include just a little bit of variation in texture.
Tumblr media
BALLROOM LOOKS!! We getting FANCY.
Something light and fun for Robbie with LOTS of gradient chiffon. A more solid waist wrap to help eccentuate a more solid shape for the more drifting ends of the dress. I'm a sucker for sheer sleeves brother I have no excuse.
EEEEEE PRINCESS DANNY COMING THROUGH!! I LOVE how this one came out! Fun off the shoulder moment with gloves to make sure his arms don't look too plain. Faux silver corset that dissolves into layers of sheer glittery material to form a full length ballgown with lots of nice volume.
JOHNNY YOU GAVE ME TROUBLE. Wanted to include lots of geometric shapes (moose and I looked at QUITE A FEW reference images) so I was able to fit that in with the tessellation patterns on the sleeves and mesh sides, as well as the triangular shape of the top area of the dress. Tried not to overdo the gold glitter by limiting it to a strip down the middle with longer black panels on the sides.
Frank with a VERY classic look I'm a sucker for a square top. He's also got the fun mesh sleeves, this time with some lace patterns. Layered skirt with a bit of volume and glitter ends (I'm a SUCKER for glitter ends). Vibrant red top to show off his signature color with some ribbing to mimic a corset.
Tumblr media
AFTER PARTY DRESSES. Fuckin. Euphoria lookin ass dresses. Idk man I just love these kinds of dresses and thought I would go ham at the end for one final nonsense fun look.

─────•~❉᯽❉~•─────
“Turn that racket down!” your mom yells from downstairs. “And you’d better hurry up or you’ll be late!”
“We’re comin, ma!” you yell back, reaching to turn the volume down on your record player.
“I can’t believe we’re actually doin this!” says your best friend, Jocelyn. She’s pulling a sweater down over the top of her dress while trying not to ruin her freshly applied makeup.
“I know! I’m so excited I could scream!” you say back, and grab the album cover for the record. You hold it up in the light and sigh. “Oh look at ‘im, Jocelyn. He’s just perfect.”
Jocelyn folds her hands on your shoulder, resting her chin on it and sighing.
“Oh Elvis…”
“Girls! If I have to-”
“We’re comin, ma!” you yell back, slightly more angry this time around. “I can’t take her screamin at us one more time. You go on down. I’m just gonna tidy up a bit.”
Jocelyn nods and leaves to go downstairs while you stop the record player and place the vinyl carefully back into the cover. You hold it out one more time and press a small peck to the image. When you pull back, you see that you’ve left a big red kiss mark on his cheek and you chuckle. As you put it back, your eyes track a small piece of paper resting on your dresser. On it you’d written your full name, address, and phone number. It’s a stupid idea, but you think maybe…just maybe if you could somehow slip it into his pocket…
You shake your head and put the note down, glancing in the mirror one last time before leaving, just to make sure that your parents won’t be able to see what you’ve got on underneath. Your eyes flick down to the piece of paper one last time and you snatch it up, stuffing it in your pocket and wincing with embarrassment. Then, you hop down the stairs two at a time.
After a few minutes of yelling from your mother and backtalking from you, your older brother, Johnny, finally gets you out the door and into the car. You ride mostly in silence, other than the sounds of you and Jocelyn squealing with excitement every few minutes. You can hear the crowd before you can even see it. As Johnny pulls up to Russwood Park, you and Jocelyn press your faces agains the glass of the windows. Jocelyn is practically bouncing out of her seat, and you aren’t far behind her. Johnny pulls to a stop.
“Be careful tonight, girls. I’ve heard bout some pretty crazy things happenin at these Elvin concerts,” he said.
“Elvis, James,” you say dryly.
“Well he’s a troublemaker, whatever his name is. Be careful, and be ready to go home by ten o’clock. Deal?”
You both nod, your smiles ready to burst off your faces.
“Aright, have fun.”
You lean over the seat to hug him.
“Thanks, Johnny. Love ya!”
As soon as you and Jocelyn have hopped out of the car, you both jump up and down, squealing and shrieking. The crowd gathered is already much larger than you expected, and they’re loud, too. Once you’re sure Johnny is out of sight, you both rip your sweaters off to reveal tops that your parents were never approve of. Your skirt is a deep red which perfectly compliments the black sweetheart neck top you’d bought. The whole top half is sheer and puts your shoulders and neck proudly on display. Your parents would probably combust if they could see you.
“Oh no,” Jocelyn whines. “Look at the size of that crowd! We’ll never see him from way back here.”
You grab hold of her hand, interlocking your fingers, and look at her determined.
“Oh yes we will,” you respond. “Cause we’re gonna make it to the front of that crowd.”
You start dragging Jocelyn behind you, elbowing and sneaking your way through the crowd and around all the standing bodies. As you near the front of the group it gets hard to navigate through the people, who really don’t want to give up their places.
“Move over, ya prude!” you shout to a young girl in a red and white striped dress.
You barely hear her protest as you weave through the crowd. Finally, you slap your hand on top of the makeshift stage with a satisfied smile. You yank Jocelyn up next to you and shrug.
“Told ya!” you have to shout now, with the crowd screaming and a line of American-themed women dancing.
As you peer over some of the fans’ heads, you notice a merchandise table with Elvis’ name and face on everything you could think of. You also see tons of police officers lining the sides of the crowd. You point and laugh with Jocelyn. Suddenly, screams erupt from behind you. You jump to try and see above the heads, but it’s no use.
“What’s happenin??” you ask, and Jocelyn shrugs.
“He’s here!!” someone shouts. You turn and grab Jocelyn’s hands, smiling so hard your face aches.
They must be right because the female dancers scurry off the stage and a man in a white suit jacket takes hold of the microphone. He starts yelling, trying to get the crowd hyped up, but you can’t hear what he’s saying. You’re far too busy trying to get one glance of the King himself. The heads in the crowd bob up and down and shift like a thousand fish in the sea, but you just need to catch one tiny fish. You are peering through a small hole in the group when someone shifts. Your mouth drops open. There he is.
“Elvis Presley!!” the announcer yells, and screams erupt all around you.
You clamp a hand over your mouth as he walks onto the stage. He makes his way toward the center, and you bite onto your fingers. He is so much more handsome in person. And the way he walks. It’s like he owns the world. His black hair lays floppy in his eyes, and he peers out into the crowd with dark eyes. Suddenly, he’s looking right at you, and your hand falls from your face, leaving you gawking with an open mouth. He smirks and winks. You grab onto Jocelyn’s hand, but neither of you can move.
“Did you see that?” you shout, and Jocelyn clenches her teeth together with a vigorous nod.
“He looked right at ya!” she says.
As he centers himself to the mic, the crowd starts to grow quiet.
“There’s been a lotta talk bout the new Elvis,” he starts, and the crowd erupts into a chorus of boos. “Course, there’s that other guy.”
He lifts his hand into the air and wiggles his pinky finger. You aren’t sure what it means, but the way he flaunts it makes you think maybe he isn’t supposed to be doing it.
“You ain’t nothin but a hound dog, cryin all the time,” he sings, and you feel your heart skip about a million beats. The crowd cheers around you. You can’t tear your eyes away as he grips onto the microphone and glances around, as if he’s thinking about something important. You and Jocelyn clutch each others fingers hard.
“There’s a lotta people sayin a lotta things,” he continues. “Course you gotta listen to the people that ya love. But in the end you gotta listen to yourself.”
The crowd erupts into cheers again, and you squeeze Jocelyn’s hand.
“And I want you to know those New York people ain’t gonna change me none,” he shouts.
You bite your lip, practically buzzing from excitement. He rips the guitar off and hands it to a bandmate. When he returns to center stage, it’s like someone’s lit a fire in his eyes.
“I’m gonna show you what the real Elvis is like tonight!” he shouts, holding up his arm.
The band starts to play, and he belts out his song. Your favorite of his songs.
“If you’re lookin for trouble, you came to the right place. If you’re looking for trouble, then look right in my face,” he sang in that deep southern voice that you’d learned every variation of. “I was born standin up, and talkin back. My daddy was a green-eyed mountain jack.”
Your heart literally thumps against your chest as he sings raspily. It sounds so much more intense in person than it does on your radio at home. Jocelyn starts to scream, bouncing up and down. You throw your hand over your mouth again, trying to breathe in and out slowly as he tosses his head around like a ragdoll. You can’t help but shriek when he seductively twists the microphone stand with one hand.
He wanders over to where you and Jocelyn are standing and gazes into the crowd. You’re gripping each other so tightly you aren’t sure you’ll ever use your fingers again. One of the girls near you is literally crawling onto the stage, and Elvis is standing so close that she probably could touch him if she tries. The way he holds the microphone as if it’s a dance partner makes your chest heave. Your eyes hungrily trail down his body and latch onto his fingers on the top of the microphone. He starts to wiggle his body like you’ve watched him do so many times on television, and you join Jocelyn in jumping.
Suddenly, he throws his body up and crashes down onto his knees. Right in front of your face. Jocelyn rips her hand free from yours to cup it around her mouth and scream. Your fingernails latch onto your hair and pull at it, as he pushes his pelvis up directly toward you. His eyes turn upward, dark and dangerous, and he looks right at you. Smirking a little, he leans down and curls his fingers around your jaw, forcing you to face him and only him. His fingers dig into your skin, and your hands grasp at his sleeves. He sings right to you, and you can feel all the blood being drained from your body. You don’t even have the self control to scream. He winks before dragging his fingers along your jawline and releasing your face. He smiles smugly and walks backward to center stage. Your chest is heaving, and you can barely move enough to blink.
He drops the mic stand from one hand and smoothly catches it with the other, leaning over it to sing as if it he was dipping a dancing partner. You are still heaving with deep breaths as Jocelyn grabs hold of your shoulders.
“OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!” she shouts over and over and over again.
You can’t take your eyes off of him as he dances and moves around on stage. He falls onto the ground, bent over and screaming into the mic. When he rolls onto his back, the feeling in your body starts to come back to you, and you laugh loudly. He is wild, out of control, illegal. And you can’t get enough. Everything starts to move too quickly. At some point you think you see him laying in the middle of the crowd and then crawling back onto the stage, screaming.
The next think you know, Elvis is being hauled offstage by some police officers and people are screaming and running. As they drag him away, the crowd starts pushing and everyone sprints frantically in different directions, not knowing what to do. You grab for Jocelyn’s hand but she slips from your sweaty grasp. As you stumble around, someone grabs hold of your arm. You wriggle free of his grasp, turn, and slug him square in the face.
“You don’t touch me!” you shout. You turn and push people away as they try to run around or straight into you. “Jocelyn!!! Jocelyn!!”
Someone else grabs your hand, and you turn to punch them. This time, it’s a police officer and he snags your wrist with a handcuff.
“What the hell’s your problem?!” you scream, trying to wiggle out of his grasp. Let me go! I didn’t do nothin!”
“Y/N!” you hear Jocelyn’s voice, but you can’t move around to find her. The officer lifts you up and practically drags you into the police car, even though you kick and beat on his back the whole way there.
Once you’re in the cop car, you run your fingers through your hair and try to bring your breathing down to normal. As soon as you come to terms with the fact that you’ve been arrested, you start panicking about what your parents will think. And how you’ll get out of jail without them finding out. Then, you worry about Jocelyn and whether she’s alright. By the time you get to the police station, you’re hands are shaking ever so slightly and you’re exhausted.
The officers guide you out of the car and into the police station, sitting you down in a room while they process your papers. You pick at your nails but hold your head high. You hadn’t done anything wrong, and you’d swear to it in court. You sit for what feels like hours before someone comes into the room. It’s your brother, Johnny, who enters with a solemn face.
“Johnny!”
You try to stand up, but the handcuffs prevent you from moving. You crash back down into the seat and stare at your brother.
“What in the Sam Hill is goin on here?”
You shake your head.
“Johnny, I didn’t do nothin wrong! A fight broke out and some man grabbed me! I mean, I guess I punched him in the face pretty good, but he deserved it! He was tryin to hurt me! I-”
Johnny holds up a hand and just shakes his head.
“Get in the car,” he says.
“Well wait, where’s Jocelyn?” you ask, feeling guilty for forgetting about your friend.
“She’s already home. She said she ran as soon as it got violent. She’s the one who called me. Get in the car. We’re going home. And Mom is not to hear about this, you understand?”
You are speechless, so all you do is nod and stand still for the officer to unlock your handcuffs. You feel so reassured to know that Jocelyn is safe. You rub your wrists as you follow your brother out into the waiting room, a tiny smile of relief plastered on your face.
When you enter the lobby, you happen to glance over at the waiting area to see none other than Elvis Presley himself sitting there. He’s slouched back in the chair, his legs spread wide and his head tilted all the way back. He looks very inviting. While Johnny deals with some paperwork at the front desk, you nervously pad in Elvis’ direction.
“Y’alright?” you ask quietly, trying not to draw attention to yourself. His eyes open and head tilts down ever so slightly. A small smile graces his lips.
“Yeah, baby, I’m just fine,” he responds, his voice hoarse.
You can hear Johnny wrapping up and suddenly remember the piece of paper in your pocket. You shove your hand down to see if it’s still there and feel it crumpled up. You finger it for a few seconds trying to decide whether to mortify yourself or not. Realizing that you may never get the chance again, you clutch onto it and frantically step forward to hand it to him. He slowly reaches up and takes it from you.
“In case y’ever need anything,” you whisper. Just as he’s about to respond, Johnny harshly yells your name.
You turn immediately and follow him outside and into the car. Your car ride home is silent, and you can tell that your brother is disappointed. Not upset or angry, thank god, just disappointed. Disappointment you can deal with. You’ve dealt with it before, thanks to your rebellious streak.
When you get home, it’s very late. Definitely later than your curfew of ten o’clock. You quietly go upstairs and immediately climb into bed, pulling the covers over your face. Tossing and turning, you swear you’ll never go to bed. You can’t stop smiling. Now that you are safe and sound, images of the wild night start to resurface in your mind. You see Elvis, a smirk on that beautiful face of his. You feel his fingers around your jaw. You hear the roar of the crowd and his raspy voice echoing all around you…
You jolt awake. Something is tapping on your window. You sit up, rubbing your eyes and trying to see better, as if seeing would help you hear better. The tapping continues. It sounds like someone is trying to unlock the door to your tiny balcony. With wide eyes, you carefully swing your toes out of bed and frantically look around for something to protect yourself with. You sigh, frustrated, and grab a pair of scissors.
Your feet move slower than death as you approach the door. You gently grab ahold of the curtains and take a deep breath before flinging them open and holding the scissors out defensively. Once you realize who it is, you quickly put the scissors down and unlock the door.
“...Elvis?” you ask in a whisper. He stumbles into your room with a breathless smile.
“Hey baby doll,” he says, and your heart thuds.
“What are you doin here?”
“You said if I ever needed help,” he replies, holding out the scrap of paper.
You take it from him to ensure it’s the paper you’d given him at the police station. Your eyes widen when you realize it is the very same.
You’re about to respond when you notice a little bit of blood dripping from his side. Your breath falls flat and you reach out to put your arms underneath him and support him.
“Oh my god!” you hiss. “What the hell happened to you?”
“Police roughed me up real good,” he responds with a chuckle that quickly turns into a groan.
He leans on you and groans as you drag him to your bed. You pull the blanket taut and lay him on top of it. Yanking the curtains open for more light, you run to the bathroom for some water and a towel. When you return, he’s holding a photo from the bedside table. You examine his wound in the moonlight. It looks like a small cut on his stomach. You thank the stars for the darkness to hide your embarrassment as you speak.
“You’re gonna hafta take your shirt off,” you say.
“Yes, ma’am,” he responds, sitting up. He tries to lift it off himself but winces at the pain. You quickly move to help, grasping the fabric to gently lift it off his frame. You avoid staring at his naked torso as you pour water from a cup onto the towel. You gently press the towel to his wound.
“Ouch, fuck,” he says, and your hand imemdiately covers his mouth.
Your eyes nervously fly to the door, but you don’t see any light shining underneath. You could feel him chuckling underneath your fingers. You remove your hand.
“Be quiet!”
“Why? Am I not supposed to be here or somethin?”
“Well I ain’t supposed to have no boys up here in my bedroom. Plus, it’s the middle of the night, and we’re we’re up here…alone…”
He says nothing, smirking and glancing down at his crotch. You once again thank the stars that it’s too dark for him to notice your embarrassment.
You shake your head and press the towel deeper into the cut. He hisses and grabs onto your arm with his hand. Your eyes immediately move to his fingers digging into your bare skin. You release a shaky breath and carefully pour more water on the towel.
“I like what you’re wearin,” he says, breathless. You ignore him even though your entire body is screaming.
“Thanks, I wore it just for you,” you respond without skipping a beat. You aren’t looking at him but still catch his eyebrows shoot up in surprise. You lean to get a better angle on his wound, not realizing how close to him you are.
“I don’t think I have anything to co-”
You stop in your tracks when you look up and make direct eye contact with his lips, pink and swollen. He has a small cut on the bottom one with a little dried blood. But they still look like the most kissable things in the world. You steady yourself and gently raise the towel to his lips. He catches your wrist.
“What are ya doin?”
“You have some blood there,” you respond, unable to tear your eyes away from his lips. He releases your hand, and you gently dab the towel against his mouth. You reach up to hold his face still, placing your hand on the side of his jaw. You slowly pull back the towel and look at the cut, all cleaned up. For a few seconds, you just stare at each other, both of your eyes travleing everywhere. You start to drop your head but he catches your face with his hand. His fingers curl around your jaw like they had at the concert, and you audibly gasp. He smirks.
“I knew I recognized you,” he mumbles. “You were at my concert tonight, weren’t ya?”
You nod, frozen in his grasp.
“Yeah…,” his eyes trace around your face and body. “I saw you punch the shit outta some asshole, too. Is that why you were in jail?”
You nod sheepishly. He smirks.
“I picked you on purpose, you know. Outta all those girls,” he says, his eyes tracing around your face again. “You wanna know why?”
“Why?” you breathe out.
He strokes your cheek with his thumb and then drags it across your bottom lip.
“I could see the fire in your eyes,” he replies, his eyes glancing between your eyes and lips. “I could tell you were trouble.”
You smirk and lean over, closing your eyes. He pulls your face to him and just barely ghosts his lips over yours. You shudder, clutching onto the towel in your fingers. He brushes his lips against yours again, and you gasp. You feel his mouth curl up into a sinister smile.
“What are you waitin for?” you whisper against his lips.
“For you to tell me what you want.”
“Kiss me.”
He obeys immediately, capturing your upper lip between his. He kisses you hard, gripping your jawbone. Your hand meanders up to his chest, resting on the smooth skin near his heart. He pulls back slowly, painfully slowly. You flutter your eyes open and gaze up into his blue ones. He’s still holding onto your jaw, but more gently now. You lean forward again, pressing your lips to his. You gently push him down onto the bed with the hand you laid on his chest. His fingers leave your jaw to wind around the back of your neck and thread themselves through your hair. His other hand sneaks onto your waist, gripping you and pulling you on top of him. As soon as you start to put pressure on his body, he groans and accidentally bites your bottom lip. You pull back with a finger flying up to the skin.
“Ah,” he winces. “Sorry, lil mama. I didn’t mean to bite ya. Not yet, anyway.”
“It’s okay. I don’t mind,” you reply, giggling. You touch your lip and seductively drag your fingers across your lips and down your neck. His grin spreads into a smile, and he strokes your cheek.
“You are trouble.”

Finally finished with my latest custom doll!
It's a glam take on Minty from My Little Pony (G3), specifically A Very Minty Christmas.
Lots of details went into this doll, and it took far and away longer than any doll I've made before. I lost track, but the hours spent easily go above 20.
Details about the construction below the cut!
Face and body
I started with a Vandala Doubloons base for the face mold, which I sliced open 😱 to create my first set of inset eyes. I just love Vandala's face mold, it's very unique and cute compared to others in the MH line (My base stock box dolls have all been super well loved, btw, so no I didn't destroy a mint in box Vandala. I would NEVER!!) The body was a headless stock box Abby, but I only decided to do that after trying and failing to do a peg-leg transplant on Vandala. It didn't matter, in the long run, since I was going to be painting the entire body anyway. Lots of coats of mint green artist's acrylic, cut with lots of flow builder medium, and about three coats of Mr. Super Clear between those coats of paint, and I had my base.
I knew the silhouette and hair I wanted for Minty from my earliest concept sketches, and looking at them I realized: this silhouette won't look "right" on a standard MH slimline. So it was time for some Apoxie sculpt! I gave her some bust and butt implants, as well as some hip and tummy augmentation to round things out in a way that would better serve the design. Then, more paint and Mr. Super Clear to make the body cohesive.
Hair
The hair is entirely acrylic yarn. Not only wefts, but I also achieved the voluminous high pony look by needle-felting a ratted base, around which the rest of the wefts were attached. Then, I had to curl them. This was by far one of the most time consuming parts of the process, but I love the outcome. I used the hot chopstick technique. That is, heating up a metal chopstick with a straightening iron, and twisting individual strands of hair around it. It keeps the hair from scorching, and allows for some truly tiny, glamorous curls.
Clothes
The gown is hand-sewn, but definitely not removable lmao. It's hard to get such a tight fit on such a tiny doll without using stretch material, and I was using costume satin, so I just glued the bodice down once I'd done all I could with darts and alterations.
The skirt went through a few iterations, with different colors being layered in for the trumpet skirt including sheer mint green, sheer white chiffon, and different shades of pink satin. And yes, those were all fully sewn as I made the decision. 😭 Eventually I went with three tiers in the basic hot pink as the rest of the dress, figuring I would add the contrasting color pops with beading.
Oof, the beading. It was a lot of hand beading. Bedazzling? idk what to call it. All I know is that many hours were spent over a pile of rhinestones and beads with a wax pencil and some Liquid Fusion glue, listening to extremely long YouTube video essays as I worked. The more I added, the more I WANTED to add, and I decided not to pull punches.
I added some volume to the skirt with stiff tulle and a half-assed cage skirt made of armature wire. You can't see it, anyway - it's the EFFECT that matters. Speaking of things you can't see, she's just wearing some unembellished hot pink G1 Draculaura boots. 😂
Details
The accessories, including the peppermints and the Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane, were all made with Apoxie sculpt, hand painted/detailed, and varnished. Perhaps my favorite little detail are her "acrylics," which I added using a technique I saw Hextian use in a video - you touch a dab of hot glue to the doll's finger, then pull it back slowly, and trim once dry. This creates a really fun effect of fake nails.
So yeah. This doll was a labor of love, and I'm so glad I didn't take any half-measures along the way. I'm very proud of her. Hope you like her!
One more note: YES I realize the irony of not having any SOCKS involved in an MLP Minty design. I really do regret this, and agonized over it a LOT. I considered making a “pajamas version” of this same doll so I could do a socks-themed outfit, before I realized the dress would need to be glued on.

“No… no…”
Nathalie clawed through her wardrobe, shoving aside rejects and tossing even the slightest “maybe” across the end of her bed to try and cobble together some ensemble that might justify all the trouble she was going to.
So far, it was more rigorous work than even her field job, but if there was one compulsion she felt more strongly than any, it was not to be boring.
Almost as much as she liked going out on the town for a night, she liked to gussy up a little. Having features that were more or less all one shade of warm wood ash, color was imperative. Petal pinks, verdant greens, the occasional cherry red—nothing was totally out of her purview, and her carefully-curated collection boasted variety rather than sheer volume. She had everything from conservative-yet-fun outfits that protected her from the thick Shroud underbrush in style, to absolutely impractical pieces that were better suited for rowdy evenings in a crowded tavern where style was substance, and enough in between that she could suit herself for practically any occasion.
Tonight, there was a more difficult task than simply putting on the newest addition to her collection. After begging, pleading (and perhaps a little bit of unintended stalking), she’d finally convinced Rakaso to go somewhere fun with her. Nothing too out-of-pocket, but not so slow as to put Nathalie to sleep after two glasses of wine: a little musical variety show Rakaso mentioned having visited before. Rakaso herself would be familiar enough with the place to be comfortable, and Nathalie would have no trouble easing into a new experience. The difficulty was choosing an outfit for it.
During her day-to-day, Rakaso was hardly seen in anything besides her white robes. A marker to denote her status as a healer and her affiliation with the Stillglade Fane, no doubt, even though other conjurers tended towards colors that weren’t as easy to sully. Covered from neck to toe—not even a hand shown. Even in her off hours, she tended towards muted shades of darkest blue and lighter tints of ivory or cream. Comforting, easy, and practical to a fault. Nathalie couldn’t fault her for the choice.
In fact, she intended to suit it by choosing something that wasn’t too outlandish—this was the first time she’d been able to drag her out of the house after all, the “fun” outfits could wait—but still gave sense of adventure. At the end of a long, tiring session of throwing clothes on and off and on again, she decided she finally had something that would work. A sleek, asymmetrical longcoat in white and black over a skirt that revealed a cheeky bit of thigh above her favorite black boots. And just in time for her rendezvous with Rakaso.
As she stepped hurriedly out from the lobby of her apartment, she jolted at an imposing figure just outside the door. A head of wintry white atop a woman shrouded in a black coat, black dress, black boots. The dress itself looked like it was constructed from reclaimed leather armor. A skirt of tassets against fraying cloth was topped by a bustier of straps, buckles, and black lace. A thick, silver chain hung from the collar and ended on the lapel of the coat, framing the woman who wore it with a threatening air. Boots like heeled sabatons revealed, much to Nathalie’s dismay, even more thigh than she showed herself, and her bare arms (!!) ended in sharp, gleaming silver claws.
Rakaso, in all the glory of her pseudo alter ego, stood with a brow aloft, her claws clicking an impatient rhythm, ready to go to battle against an entire night.
“I was early,” she explained, snapping Nathalie from her stunned state.
She couldn’t decide if the color was draining from her face or if she was turning a shade more pink as she caught herself and smiled brightly. That would certainly be the last time she’d underestimate her colleague’s ability to surprise her.

Kotlc human au prom outfits :)
Don't mind me Nonsie just going to use all of the totally legit prom knowledge I definitely have (I always skip school dances) to answer this one! I've talked about young Sophie once before, so this time I'll do older human Sophie. As for the others...I have ideas :)
Sophie: She's very shy about all this but definitely isn't wearing a dress. But I don't think she'd have the confidence for a suit yet either, so somewhere in-between. Perhaps a formal romper? Simple cut, suitable for a formal environment, she's still covered, and it's not a big fancy dress. It's got a bit of a looser fit, maybe with a sash around the waist, probably a darker color so she doesn't stand out. Not sure exactly which color though--maybe a dark blue or a muted green. She's got her everyday jewelry and her hair is clipped out of her face on one side, but she didn't do anything else. Her makeup is so simple its unnoticable, probably subtle brown liner and mascara, maybe a lip gloss. It's comfortable
Fitz: He's got a classic full-blown suit in a navy blue, complete with a pocket square. Tempted to say he also has a pocketwatch with a chain. He's got a subtly patterned shirt underneath, i'm thinking stripes. His tie is slightly lighter color than the suit, and is slightly off in terms of how it's tied. He tried his best but continues to fiddle with it, and it's the only part of his appearance that reminds you he's actually a dork on top of being so Wonderboy.
Keefe: Floral shirt. 100%. He's got the bright colors and the buttons aren't all closed, which shows off his necklace--a delicate gold. It's only partially tucked into his pants, which look fancy but he wears them so casually. Going for that roguishly unstyled look. He's probably wearing rings as well. Biana might've joked about doing his makeup and he let her do it for the fun of it, so he's got smoky colored shadow and glossed lips to match the shirt. he's got no right looking so good with the chaos he causes
Biana: Her outfit is the closest to a ballgown, she goes all out. Even has a corset style bodice studded with beads forming swirling designs. I'm thinking either a deep purple or a gold color for the dress, and her hair is all down and curled, a simple jeweled clip on one side. She's got a statement lip and stunning highlight, wearing strappy heels that would be a hazard for anyone but her. The sleeves are off the shoulder and sheer, draping over her arms before cinching at the wrist.
Dex: he is embarrassed yet excited to be there, so his outfit is hidden under a hoodie until someone can convince him to take it off. He's got a slightly worn button down with a bowtie slightly askew. He's rolled back the sleeves and it's tucked properly into his pants, which are somewhere between slacks and jeans. He's wearing a super intricate watch that he's been messing with, which stands out. I'm thinking he goes for a more muted color scheme, though I'm not sure which color. Green or bronze-ish maybe?
Marella: There's a two piece situation going on here. The top is lacey, see through on the top half with jewel-like details. The bottom half is like a skirt, plenty of ruffles giving it some volume while still being easy to move in. Torn between whether it's a white/ice blue color pairing or a deep red. Whatever color, it stands out. I'm thinking it's paired with a chunky platform heel and her hair is swept back into a braided ponytail or bun to show off her makeup--sweet colors but dramatic shapes.
Linh: She keeps it simple with a long, flowing dress, but it's in a slightly wrapped style that leaves a slit down the side that flares out as the fabric curves. It's a sage green, matching her eyeshadow. Her hair's pinned up in a half-up bun, and silver jewelry compliments the whole look. She's got strappy sandals with a slight heel in a light color, but doesn't want to overdo it. The sleeves might be a little sheer and flowy, matching the rest of the look
Tam: He's only here because Linh is here; he wasn't going to get dressed up, but Linh said he should have fun, so to appease her he's got on a black button down with floral print (the print is black so it's very subtle) tucked into black jeans. He's wearing complimentary silver jewelry, a chain and rings; it's passable as kinda fancy while still not drawing attention to himself
Stina: She's got a draping bodycon dress that reaches the floor, super regal in a statement maroon, flaring towards the end. She is that girl. It's not super tight, but it's still shapely. Her nails match the dress and so does her eyeshadow, complemented by a sharp winged liner. Her heels are short stilettos, black and secure. Her hair has been pinned up out of her face, but gathered in a way where the curls all flow down her back.
Maruca: She's got a short dress, about knee length, which falls in layers. I'm thinking a dusty pink color, all one piece with a dip down the middle. The back is slightly open and all the fabric is a solid, smooth color. The only texture is along the front of the bodice, which is studded with jewels and lace. it's simple yet stands out, complimenting her gold jewelry. Her makeup matches, and I think she might go for braids for the occasion, perhaps with gold hair cuffs throughout to stick to the theme.
Wylie: He's not a fan of social events so he keeps it simple, just an unbuttoned blazer over plain shirt and pants. The boldest thing he'd be willing to do is wear a brighter color, like a mustard yellow or rusty orange blazer, but he doesn't want to be noticed. No tie, no pocket square, nothing extra. Just formal enough that people don't come up to him and ask why he's not dressed up.
Those are some of my ideas for what they might wear in a human au to prom! I know many people are fond of the girls in suits and such, and I also love them and think they'd look great! I just don't think it matches their clothing choices from the series; they've shown an affection for dresses that I used as inspiration instead (except for Sophie). So that's why I didn't include those ideas :)

ANGELA BASSETT at the 13th Governors Awards on November 19th 2022 wearing GIAMBATTISTA VALLI COUTURE
Angela Bassett brought the glamour to the Governors Awards, and just looked absolutely fantastic.
The jeweled top just looked so luxe and glamorous. I love that it was mostly jewels, and thick jewels at that, instead of being mostly sheer. I thought the white skirt paired beautifully with the silver top, and the feathers were such a fun addition.
I also just love the hairstyle. The volume and curls are gorgeous, and this entire look was perfect for Angela.

Elevate Your Wardrobe: Must-Try Latest Fashion Trends for Women
Tumblr media
Fashion is a form of self-expression that allows women to showcase their individuality and personality. Staying up-to-date with the latest fashion trends not only keeps your style fresh but also allows you to experiment with new looks and elevate your wardrobe. In this article, we'll dive into the must-try latest fashion trends for women that are dominating the scene and provide you with practical tips on how to incorporate them into your everyday outfits.
1. Power Puff Shoulders: Making a Statement
Power puff shoulders are making a strong comeback, adding a touch of drama and femininity to various outfits. Whether you're opting for a structured blazer, a casual sweater, or an elegant dress, exaggerated shoulders can instantly transform your look. To rock this trend, balance the volume on top by pairing it with slim-fit bottoms. A fitted skirt or tailored pants can create a harmonious contrast, making the shoulders the focal point of your ensemble.
2. Monochromatic Magic: Effortless Elegance
Monochromatic outfits are all the rage this season, offering a sleek and sophisticated way to dress. Choose a single color and create an ensemble using different shades and textures within that palette. This trend elongates your silhouette and exudes a sense of confidence and elegance. For a modern touch, play with layering different pieces, such as a silk blouse paired with wide-legged trousers in a matching hue.
3. Vintage-Inspired Denim: Nostalgic Charm
Denim never goes out of style, but this year, it's all about embracing vintage-inspired denim pieces. High-waisted jeans with a slightly relaxed fit, denim jumpsuits, and retro denim jackets are key players in this trend. Channel the nostalgic charm of decades past by combining these pieces with contemporary accessories and footwear. A bandana scarf and chunky sneakers can bring a modern twist to your denim ensemble.
4. Statement Belts: Cinch and Shine
Don't underestimate the power of a statement belt to transform your outfit. Wide belts with bold buckles are a fantastic way to cinch in your waist and add a touch of flair to dresses, blazers, and oversized shirts. Not only do they define your silhouette, but they also draw attention to your waistline. Experiment with various textures, from leather to metallic, to match the mood of your outfit.
5. Sustainable Fashion: Mindful Choices
Incorporating sustainable fashion practices into your wardrobe is more than just a trend – it's a conscious lifestyle choice. Opt for eco-friendly fabrics, second-hand or vintage clothing, and brands that prioritize ethical manufacturing processes. By choosing quality over quantity, you'll curate a wardrobe that reflects your values and withstands the test of time.
6. Mix and Match: Playful Creativity
Gone are the days of strict fashion rules. The mix-and-match trend encourages you to combine unexpected patterns, colors, and textures to create uniquely stylish outfits. Pair a striped top with a floral skirt or layer different prints for a playful and creative look. This trend lets you showcase your personality and experiment with your existing wardrobe in new and exciting ways.
7. Sheer Delights: Subtle Sensuality
Sheer fabrics are adding a touch of sensuality to outfits without being overtly revealing. Whether it's a sheer blouse layered over a camisole or a dress with sheer panels, this trend strikes a balance between elegance and allure. To make sheer fabrics more wearable, consider layering them with solid pieces or opting for garments that strategically incorporate sheer elements.
In conclusion, embracing the latest fashion trends is a thrilling way to elevate your wardrobe and express your unique style. From power puff shoulders to sustainable fashion choices, there's a trend for every personality and preference. Remember that fashion is about having fun and feeling confident in what you wear. So go ahead, experiment, mix and match, and make these trends your own!

Simone Rocha
Tumblr media
The clothes are full of drama, a kind of luxe / hard meets soft way of dressing. *disclaimer* these words are based solely on what I can see going down the runway. At times the clothes feel doll like… but if the doll came to life, grew up and decided to buy a castle on a mountain. Big “fantasy” fits without straying into cosplay. When I look at Simone Rocha, I’m looking at someone dressing up, but channeling multiple moments in their life. So shapes and textures you might associate with being a child happen to be right next to very “grown up” materials.
I appreciate the layers that go on. There’s tons of  straight forward layering of shirt or jacket over a dress which might also be over some pants. But there are layers within each individual garment.  One dress might have a solid mid section but sheer / lace for the legs, or be solid at the at the legs with a sheer layer for the pockets. It’s honestly impossible for me to tell if some of the clothes are one piece or 5, but the depth is really cool to see
Tumblr media
What’s also really cool is the way the garments move as the models walk. Whether it’s something that’s sleek and close to the body or something with more shape and volume, the clothes bounce and sway and move with the body in interesting ways.
Of the many ways there are to play with garments, whether it be the shape, or the texture of the fabric, color even, what seems to continue to stay with the clothes in the Simone Rocha universe are the ways in which one can embellish their outfit. There are subtle prints that almost feel like more of a texture than a graphic. Seams and joints are exaggerated to call out the different parts of the garment. It’s fun to see sleeves that start at the collar and end at the elbow, or tops that start as a button up and quickly evolve and grow in a skirt at the bottom. The
There has also been tons of pearls & crystals as another layer on top of the clothes to add additional shape on monochromatic looks. Big flowy dresses and shoes with absurd soles become personal with the additional bits of
Tumblr media
Looking at the clothes over the years, it feels as if the clothes have become more specific, which I really dig. It feels like in many ways, Simone Rocha has dug deep and fleshed out who they are and I diving into it heavy. Maybe these clothes that are a bit tragic and spooky but very still very regal and would fit in at a royal ball are how they feel at this moment, but lifestyle and character they invoke feels good to see. Some of the “earlier” clothes look like anyone could wear them, which is totally cool, but the latest stuff gives the vibe of speaking to a very specific type of person. I’m not sure who that person could be, but I do know they’ll be fly.
P.S. this was written before the menswear was shown… and it was teased a bit in the items sold with H&M, but a full range in the tongue of Simone Rocha was just recently put on display alongside the women’s clothing… and I have to say I’m even more of a fan.

Can I have Lina as a mermaid (if you’re still doing that AU)?

yes you can!!
#does one ever stop doing an au#you can stop??? it doesn't just live in the back of your mind rent free?#ohhhh i had so. much fun with this thank you anon#here is the aragon#based it off org we but ended up with the top looking somewhat like bway ? ehe#so!! design process!!!#or like. basically things to note#i had so much fun doing the scale/skin thing that was really cool because of the sheer amount and colour variations!!! like#like jane's just grey/black scales but here it's so much more and that's v cool#the hair got floofier than usual because underwater there's less gravity and aragon already has a hair cloud so i decided to exaggerate it#she's a mermaid queen and the very first of the six and something about that marks her as v royal to me (like more than the rest)#so i decided to keep the sleeves and skirt bc it really poofs up the volume and adds to her presence#the sleeves on the shoulders act sorta as armour (remember the costume spikes) and there's a sword#because coa fought in a battle while pregnant and that is a very interesting thing i wanted to pushh#she's got a lot of jewellery because royal --> crown earrings necklace (emphasised by shiny scales on neck)#and the lower half of the sleeves of the costume are replaced by black scales and accessories of some black material/string winding around#her arms because i really wanted to show more scales and aragon's costume covers a lot of the skin.  costume wise it's fairly similar overal#except i took the skirt pattern and made the detailed bits transparent then took the patterned details and used it for the tail#so when you see through it overall the skirt looks the same! and also it fits with previous mer-queen designs where the skirts show the tail#specifically howard's i guess. bonus to this is that because i drew it like this? most of the tail was cropped out so i had to show it smhow#the pommel? of the sword is supposed to be a pearl same for the tiny white dots on the neckline. bc mermaid.#however the shoulder pads are like shells instead of studs just three whole plates on each arm overlapping each other#lore-wise i think the idea of her being betrothed royalty from a young age would be there - or at any rate she's part of the high nobility#but since it's an au for designs more than plot that is irrelevant. tell me if you have plot thoughts tho that'd be coolllll#i started the mermaid au a long time ago and wow has my art improved im surprisingly proud of this#except her left hand. couldn't decide what to do for that and just drew a hand and idk i don't like it it's wonky#six the musical fanart#catherine of aragon#mermaid au#six the musical

John glides an un-gloved hand over your waist, onto your back, resting it on your opposite hip. He tugs at the fabric of your skirt just gently, toying with the texture. His fingers brushing into your skin through the satin, you feel him feeling your curves.
Just gently.
John’s hair is flipped back, beautiful blonde locks smooth and perfectly groomed. Bouncing with his movements but not falling out of place. He turns his face into you.
Just whispering. Whisper to me John.
‘Come to my apartment after work.’
Rolling his shoulders back he straightens up, tells you in a normal volume. 'It will be our first date as a couple. Officially.’
You lean into him. It encourages him to stroke your hip with his hand.
‘You can stay overnight.’
‘John, I thought we were looking forward to the storm, and I would like to, but..’
He is content and watches you calmly.
‘Stay!’ he drags a syllable, calm but chirpy, ‘You can have, my bed, I’ll sleep in another room. And you won’t have to travel as far for work tomorrow morning.’ He has a glint in his eye, a playful look that can be seen as proud and self satisfied.
You look at him trying to decide your fate for you.
‘Come! Stay with me. Please.’
At that you’ve made up your mind.
‘Ok, but your bed? I don’t want you to sleep uncomfortably if you have a big day tomorrow John.’
‘Il'l be ok. But we can work out what to do about me being comfortable, if you're worried about it.’ He winks at you.
Lunch is over and you lean up to his face, planting a kiss on his cheek.
‘Can't promise anything,' you laugh, 'but, John where are we meeting later?’
‘Don’t worry I’ll be here,' he strokes your hair, 'I’ll come meet you on your floor. I can take you home, we can fly.'
He looks at you carefully seeing if you approve of his offer. 'If you need your things, then we come back here. Is that ok?’
'I really appreciate it, but I'd need some more time to get ready, would it be ok if you pick me up from mine instead?'
He does his defensive giant smile, you notice, knowing what it means.
Putting a hand on his arm, 'Hey, I'm here. I'm with you. A girl just needs her pampering time, especially for an important date with her new boyfriend. What's more important than that huh?' you comfort him, 'Please pick me up later will you?'
'Of course I will. Tell me when you're ready and I'll be there.'
He has a glow to him, perfect soft hair, a wink as he leaves. His smile lingering on his lips as you watch him go.
'See you later.'
..
You think about what to pack to stay the night. The promise of your night flying out into the storm is in the near future, and it’s mutually agreed on that something will happen between you two. But you can’t be certain that it won't with him tonight. So just in case of emergency you pack condoms.
What else?
You throw in Pure Poison. You spritz it on your black lingerie, French knickers and sheer unpadded lace balconette set. Taking a cream gold pyjama twin set in satin with flowing trousers, you need to figure out what to wear tonight.
You've blow dried and styled your hair in bombshell waves, bouncy and shiny. Subtle and natural makeup, nothing colourful.
Rummaging through your drawers you see a lolly vibe.
Oh this is quite discreet, and could be fun.
Chances are nothing is happening, not if you stick to your plan. It's too soon and you can't be intimate with him just yet.
But I really want him. I'm taking this! He won't notice will he? If I'm in his room I can secretly take this with me and he shouldn't know.
You wear my Ingenue dress in red, put on your trench coat, and gather your things ready to grab for when he arrives. As you're drinking your calming lavender tea, you hear a light tap on the door. Excited that he's here you jump up to get to the door. But you have butterflies in my stomach too.
When you reach the door you wait, adjusting your dress, pulling it down for perfect fit. You open the door.
'Hi.' He says quietly holding out one palm face up to you waiting for you to take his hand. You do and pull him into the apartment.
'You look beautiful, wow,' his hands leave yours and clasp behind his back as he turns on the spot taking you in, 'Really, wow!'
'Thank you. You look great yourself.'
He proudly keeps his chin up and smiles softly.
'I missed seeing you swanning about at work, all magnificent.'
He smiles wider showing his teeth.
'Oh..' he puts a finger under my chin and drags me a bit closer to him, 'You are mine now and I want you to be able to see me at all times.'
'Oh really, and how do you want me to see you?'
He puts on a devious smile, locks his hand around the lower half of your face, still gently, turns your face away from him to talk in your ear. 'Oh lots of ways, eventually.'
You lift back the edge of his suit's collar, prying it away from his body.
He lets go of your face and you look up at him. He knows what you mean. Knows you want him out of that suit but neither of you say a word to each other. He wraps his arm around you waist and guides you out of your apartment.
..
He's got your bag and he's got you. He clutches you to his chest, your trench protects you from some of the cold and his warmth makes up for the rest of the chilled air as you fly. You rest into his neck, you just want to be hugged like this forever. You can't wait to be at his apartment, in the warmth with him.
You know he's holding you tight and will never let go and you want to place kisses on his neck but you are a bit worried about moving around too much.
'John you're so warm,' you say into his ear, 'I want more of this. Can we do this when we get in?'
You do place a kiss on his neck, you can't help it.
There's a soft growl from him and he clutches you tighter. 'We can do whatever you want.'
Landing in front of Vought tower, he doesn't let go of you, never lets his hands leave your body, but wraps his arm around you, standing close, asking if you're ok. He strokes your hair out of the way after it was whipped by the breeze. His suited leg pressed against yours.
'Yeah I'm good. I just wanna snuggle with you.'
He smiles like he's never heard anyone say that before, his eyes so bright and happy.
..
Inside John's apartment, he leads you up a few steps of the vestibule by the small of your back, you always welcome and crave his gentle and not so gentle guiding touches. He takes your bag from the cross body position he wore it, to fly you both, momentarily pauses before handing it back to you.
He glances down at your bag then at you. His lips parted, eyeing you up.
'You ok?' you ask.
'What's in your bag?'
'Huh? Just my overnight stuff.'
'What, you need that for overnight?' He points towards your bag circling his finger in the air. He's glancing sideways at you, then whistles. He gestures, palm up, fingers beckoning.
'Come on, hand it over.'
'What do you mean John?'
'The sweetie.' He leans in, grins then loud whispers. Enjoying the confusion on your face, or the embarrassment.
You reach into your bag for the squishy lolly. Battery operated green jelly on a lollipop stick You reluctantly show it to him. He takes it out of your hand.
'Now, why would you need this?' He says, squeezing it, testing the bounciness. There's a mocking in his tone his last two words slowly pronounced.
'Maybe I'll be in your room with this and there will be more fun in it for you at some point? Since we're not....' You look at him and wait.
'I have it in case you are a danger to me John.' you tease.
'Alright, here.' he hands it back, 'I'll let you keep it.'
He winks and walks past to show you the powder room. He invites you to help yourself to whatever you need and to find his room if you want to set your things down, then goes to another part of the apartment.
'I'll be with you in a few minutes.'
You freshen up in the large bathroom. it has beauty lighting mirrors and you feel better having checked your hair for knots. It looks nice a bit messy and full.
When you go to find his room, you see a door that's slightly open on the way.
Catching him standing in another bathroom doing his hair in profile, door ajar, his suit is what makes you double take and stop to watch.
The top of his suit is peeled down, his belt off and one side of his suit pants is pulled lower. The dips in his hips s are showing and you can't help but imagine what he looks like below that as you watch him from outside the room.
You walk into the bathroom, catch his eye and draw closer carefully.
'Hi.' You whisper. Warm yellow light is hitting the planes of his torso. You move up closing the gap between you and him. He puts the comb he was using down with a click onto the marble counter top.
His lip shudders. His eyes are downcast, intently on your lips. Hand rises and his thumb strokes your cheek.
He is naked from the waist up so your palms are on the front of his shoulders. Pressed against warm smooth skin. Hairless chest. His chin is tucking down as he watches your hands move over his chest gently. He looks you in the eye then at your hands. Then back at your eyes.
The muscles under his eyes twitch telling you he's unsure of how to ask you. Whether he should ask you. You raise your eyes slowly to his eyes. You hold his look. You feel hot.
You lean up to his face very close, continue looking him in the eye, you lean your mouth up to his. You brush your lips over his, merely brushing across them and he closes his eyes.
You keep your hands flat against his chest, the moment so tempting and intimate. You only want to make it more intimate but can't let yourself just yet.
You hug him, leaning your face against his bare chest.
'I want to listen to your heartbeat, John. I want your warmth on me again.'
He catches the both of you in the mirror in front of him, never knowing he would see himself standing in an embrace with a girl that cares for him.
