I actually found work despite my health conditions!

I am now a hotel housekeeper.

The higher-ups are all well aware that I can't wear certain clothes, that I can't stand for long periods without excruciating pain, that I get easily overwhelmed by loud noises, and that I suck at talking to people. They went completely out of their way to make numerous accommodations for me, including:

A separate area in the staff room specifically designed to block out sound

Permission to wear noise-canceling headphones

In addition to my nametag, a pin stating that I am autistic

Permission to wear "comfortable" clothes instead of the actual work uniform, as long as they are plain

A helper on standby for tasks that are hard for a dyspraxic to perform effectively

And many other things!

Let this be a lesson: you are NOT unemployable simply because you have "issues." If the folks in charge understand, you'll be fine. In fact, I've found that I enjoy this job very much even though I was extremely nervous about it at first!

BIG DAY!! straight? best friend updates & news :D

This is a sorta long one so... :)

I'm gonna write all unprofessional right now cause I'm so excited!! Sooo today was the day that me and straight? best friend (or straight? bf to abbreviate cause that's so long to type each time) were supposed to hang out! We met up to take photos for our school first and she had teased me earlier in the week saying she was gonna wear her prom dress (because we are planning to go to prom together) and I hadn't seen it yet. So she walked up to me today full-length gown and I hyped her up obviously and told her she looked beautiful all that jazz and we took photos and talked. And then we had plans to go to my place after and finish OFMD. So we're walking to the parking lot and I'm like "Oh do you have a ride? Cause I still need to call mine if you need one" and she's like "oh I drove here." and I'm like jaw drop "what" She never told me she got her license and we talk all the time so I was shocked understandably. So we talked about that for a minute before she turned to me and was like "so.. do you want a ride?" all smiley. And I was so excited and shocked I was like absolutely and I just had to make sure it was cool with the person I was gonna call for a ride. And they said no T_T. But no fear we still went to my house and finished the show and hung out and it was a ton of fun <3

And here's the news!! While we were hanging out I got an email so I went to check it... and I got an interview for a library part-time gig I wanted super badly! It took forever for them to get back to me so I was doubtful but they emailed me today and we set up an interview!! This is really exciting for me cause as I've said before I love writing and reading and this is like the perfect way for me to get experience for the type of stuff I want to go into.

I grew up so poor. Like canned pasta and no fresh food poor. Like don’t tell dad how hungry you are because he can’t do anything poor. And today I got a raise after busting my ass for 4 years at my job after getting 3 degrees. And I got a Costco membership!!!!

I’m so happy I can feed my babies without worry and this privilege is not overseen in me. I was once hungry. This is me today. It gets better. And my kids won’t have to suffer like me. The cycle ends here

It may seem silly and small but for me, this feels like making it. 🖤

I ate eggs today for the first time in about six months!

#FINALLY FOUND EGGS WHERE THE CHICKENS AREN'T FED SOY #and the lady who brings them to the farmers market is there every week :) #so for the rest of time i get nice eggs to eat #they feed them barley and whey and wheat #and they were delicious and yes i slonked one raw and it was weird but didnt sit bad #chased it with some berries (also from the farmers market) and some raw milk from another farm thats got a store front #the egg lady also makes her own cheddar with animal rennet #so i can eat cheese again too #i love finding food! #ive been eating basically just oats beef and flatbread for months on end #i also got a neat hairpin made by a fellow curly hair lady thats copper and designed to not fuck w your curl pattern and not pull hair #today was such a good day #my txt
