Nikolai and the Darkling have a history which makes their relationship really interesting and gives their potential dynamic a lot of flavor. It's fascinating to think about all of the impressions they left behind on the other before parting.

Their views on Ravka, leadership, and sacrifice are incredibly similar, which makes their dynamic even more compelling. The Darkling's tactical but morally gray plans to help the grisha align frequently with Nikolai's own practical political ideas about how to help Ravka. They compliment each other a lot when it comes to the necessary requirements of strategic genius and emotional appeal in a leader, and they both care a lot about their people, considering the cost of keeping those people safe to be a high but necessary one.

They both have a darkness within them. That the Darkling put Nikolai's there only makes the potential conflict all the better. I love thinking about how their demons would connect and the impact it would have on them.

They both consider using someone to achieve their political goals acceptable. The concept of them using each other for their own ends is 👌👌👌

no worries! i haven't answered this question in at Leeeaast a few years anyways :P nowadays i use clip studio paint, and almost all of the brushes i use are stuff i've grabbed off the asset store! (with edits, naturally). i'd put this under a readmore but every time i did tumblr broke the formatting orz

my absolute Favorite brush - something i'd recommend to Anyone regardless of what they're using it for - is this highlighter brush! i've been using it for almost 2 years now! whether it's sketches, outlines, or paintings - it adds a nice Chunky feeling with the square brush shape & a texture that i adore on top of that.

anything i post that has a Cleaner outline than normal is probably a result of this brush! i Love the sketchier feel of my other brushes, but when i need something well-defined and solid, this is my go-to brush. the weight & feel of it reminds me of the old bic pens i would doodle with in the margins of my homework back in highschool :P

the first brush from this set is one i use to compliment the brush i just listed - it's made by the same creator, so it has the same feel, but it's a LOT better at Suggesting things rather than Defining them, if that makes sense! i use it a lot when i'm drawing wrinkles, folds in clothing, blush lines, crosshatching - really, anything that should Be There, but isn't meant to be the center of attention. also good for loose sketches!

this brush is very new to me! total disclosure, you have to pay for this now, but i downloaded it when it was free. i mostly use this brush for sketching, but i think it also works REALLY well for painting! my usual approach to blending colors is to lay down a base, slap another color on top of it, and eyedrop the blend between them to go over the transition point with - and i think this brush lends Really well to that. reminds me of working with chalk pastels irl :P

then there's this one specific brush i've been OBSESSED with lately. you can see it in a good bit of my recent art, if you know how to look for it, and i think it's something i'm going to be using for a long time! it has a specific weight and Oomph to it that i just Loooove so much

when it comes to post-painting, i-need-to-add-more-Crunch-to-this-drawing, this noise set is where i go first! this isn't a situation where i can just say "yeah slap one of these down on overlay at 30%" or whatever - you have to experiment! every time i use one of these i end up spending 30 minutes going through The Whole List of blending modes to see which one works best & then spend Another 30 minutes fiddling with the opacity. and then spend Another 30 minutes fiddling with the luminosity & saturation of the layer. there's so many colors available that i can just drag & drop & delete until i find what color scheme works best!

honorable mention - this set also costs money, but it's one of my favorite ways to make a plain color background have More Flavor. LOVE that it has a clean version of the shape and then a second version where it's got a Chunky border! plus making this post made me realize the creator added more shapes since the last time i downloaded it yaaAAAYY

Hi! Let's see what I can come up with..

LIGHTING/GRAPHICS MODS Easy to use/install, lighting mods can change the look of your game drastically with little effort! I use a few:

no-glo

no-blu

graphicsrules override

I use this camera mod too, much less drifty...

Softerhaze makes some bomb ass lighting mods too.. I just switched from twinkle toes to sunblind and I am in LOVE - gamechanger lemme tell you.. so pretty! LOOKIT!!

RESHADE I'm still using g-shade at the moment but after recent events, I'll probably end up switching back again when I can be arsed. The effects you can achieve with reshade presets are amazing tbh.. and it's real fun to mess around with and create your own! Tho lots of people have made awesome ones if that's a bit much for you. If your PC can't handle it all too well you can always just switch it off until it's time to take screenies as well.

COMPOSITION Kinda hard to explain but basically, composition is what's in your frame and how you line it all up. I'd recommend reading some photography guides to get the gist of the concept.. but honestly, the more you mess around the more you'll get the hang of it. I've always loved photography and sims screenies really aren't so different. If you use reshade there's even some templates for thirds/the golden ratio etc you can slap on top for practice. Personally I don't use 'em cos I prefer my own judgement (that sounds rlly obnoxious but we're rolling with it). I found a template to show you what I mean! (ngl I was stoked that the first screenie I thought of for being a good eg. almost perfectly fit into this golden ratio shit LOL) but let's keep in mind how long I scooted around to get a good shot of this.. pretty sure I deleted about 10 other failed shots of this but shhhh, it's trial and error!

ANGLES/FOCUS The way you take a shot and how you angle it can change the whole feel of the image. For example.. in this image I tilted down and bit and filled over two thirds of the shot with the man, he's a big character and quite an intimidating guy so I think it helps get the idea across without pointing it out (at least I think so but idk I could also be talking outta my ass)

Similarly in these two shots below.. the first with the guy on the left gives the feel that he's in control here. The "camera" is tilted above him slightly and he's all up in your face, making the woman look much smaller in comparison. BUT! If you flip around to the second image, tilt down a bit and switch the focus to her, it makes him look more insignificant and less in control. I hope this makes sense??

EDITING/PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS ETC Personally I don't use photoshop actions but there's plenty out there to do the work for you! I think Intramoon? maybe.. has made a few but idk, you guys feel free to jump in with any suggestions! You can also smooth, fix stuff, change the mood/lighting, all sorts.. my advice on this is patchy at best tbh cos I just faff around until I see what I like lmao.. which leads me on tooooooo...

FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT Lol.. but seriously! I don't know what I'm doing. I've never taken any classes or read up on much, I always just jump in and see what happens. Fuck around with reshade, fuck around with camera mods, fuck around with composition/focus, fuck around with photoshop or gimp or w/e.. just mess about for a while and have fun! I promise you'll get better.

Ok, this is such a cute question!!😭 Coming from someone with an older brother who also has longer hair I can vouch for the fact that braiding it is very relaxing and fun. So I think Omega would definitely enjoy braiding Hunters hair, and he would be more than happy to let her.

She's probably a bit shy about asking the first time, and leaves knots in his hair that he's gonna find for days. But the more she practices, she slowly slowy gets better at it and don't tell anyone, but Hunter secretly enjoys their little braiding sessions more than Omega does.

POWER COUPLE!! They are the ultimate badass evil fighting team. I love all the ways they work together and complement each other's fighting style.

Their relationship dates back all the way to re1 and they've basically been functioning as a team since. I really like that shared history and the fact that they've both been with the outbreak since the start. I also really like it when they separate in some way to deal with different missions and then come back together even stronger than before. Their relationship is just really fun and cool.

Their ride or die mentality is really fun. They clearly have a lot of respect for each other and would risk a lot to keep each other safe. I love that kind of dedication in a ship a lot.

Jake x Sherry

I love the whole "bad boy" and bubbly partner vibe they've got going on, especially since sherry is actually a certified badass and jake turns out to be a complete softy. Plus I'm always a sucker for bad first impressions and biased assumptions being completely proven wrong as two characters get to know each other more.

I really like how compassionate and kind sherry is to jake, and how he offers her complete understanding. I really like how they both very firmly know how to draw lines in the sand and follow boundaries, and the development of their relationship from acerbic strangers to tight besties and partners is superb.

I like how protective they are of each other! It really showcases how much they've come to value the other in their life.
