W5: Why do I think it is bad
When W20 (Werewolf the Apocalypse 20th anniversary edition) came out, it was a joyous occasion for multiple reasons. First, it was the first proper book released for the game in 10 years. Second, it was proof that the old game still had fans who were willing to try a new edition.
And third; W20 was about hope.
From its beginning comic about rising up to fight despite the odds to the way the book offered chances to play the lost tribes, to the way the supplements followed suit in offering more options and interesting ideas to use, W20 was about going on despite the odds.
This is not the feeling one gets reading Werewolf the Apocalypse 5th edition. Despite being a reboot, the book spends pages guilt-tripping players about playing garou. There is little hope, because being a garou sucks and most importantly; The fight for Gaia might not even be real.
Now, I am not one to say no to Alternative Universes, I enjoy the concept a lot. But W5 is still a game and so needs more than a rant about how badly the garou screwed up, it needs gameplay. And the gameplay W5 offers is sitting in your caern defending your turf while the world around you burns and if you dare to take action? You might become mad and become a fascist.
I need to remind you all that the core of WtA is the fight against pollution, systematic oppression, your own ancestors and your own Rage. The horror is how impossible the fight seems, how easily you can turn on your friends and how tempting an easy way out is.
The horror in W5 is how bad your ancestors were and how terrible it is to be a garou.
Personal Horror has always been the wheelhouse of Vampire the Masquerade, as being a vampire forces you to create justifications for your actions. Werewolf is titled Feral Horror for a reason, the horror is more external than internal. Yet W5 tries to make it internal like in VtM, leaving behind all the environmental horror. Indeed, W5 is written quite clearly with purely urban characters in mind with very little focus on nature.
Anyone who is familiar with NWoD/Chronicle of Darkness should by now notice that this sounds quite a bit like Werewolf the Forsaken. This is because W5 has taken a lot from Forsaken, but without truly understanding the way these parts make Forsaken what it is.
But all of this is, as we say in the community, fluff. What about the mechanics? Surely they are at least fun?
The way Rage works in W5 is extremely punishing because Rage has its own dice that replace normal dice the more you have. If you fail with these dice, your character will destroy something. At best. Worse is that any Rage above the hilariously small maximum of 5 gives your character willpower damage. The kicker is that you cannot choose to use Rage Dice when you want to, nor can you control their use. It is all or nothing.
Rage in the previous editions of WtA was a power versus control trap. You could do amazing things with your Rage, but the more you had the easier it was to lose control and the harder it was to deal with humans. What made Rage such a clever trap, was that gaining more was often based on player action. Those seeking a fast way to power would end up being creatures with very little to no self-control.
Rage Dice are not that, they make the life of a PC hard no matter what they do and at times punish players by taking actions as werewolves.
Another mechanic that punishes and in fact has some really unfortunate implications attached to it is Hauglosk. Stated to be the opposite of Harano, Hauglosk is in reality a way for the ST to punish any player who plays in a way that the ST does not approve. Worse, Hauglosk is at one point stated to be equal to fascism.
On the fluff side, Hauglosk also serves as a way to limit what the PCs can do as the book helpfully notes it manifests in the form of absolute certainty to your cause and the want to act NOW. Since we are on Tumblr here, I should not have to note how baffling that is in a game about activism.
The way Hauglosk is written is most likely to justify the removal of a tribe from the playable roster. The Get of Fenris might have had their issues, but W5's cult of Fenris is said to be utterly lost to Hauglosk. By wanting to keep fighting the Wyrm with certainty. The sheer vitriol this book has for the Get of Fenris is to the point where some tribes do worse things than they do but are still playable. Worse, by the book itself, you can redeem a Black Spiral Dancer but not a Cult of Fenris member.
Let me repeat that; You can redeem a rapist torturer who willingly pollutes and eats humans but you CANNOT redeem a person fighting on the same side as you who is a bit more fanatic about the cause.
This push to make the tribe into essentially fascists didn't come from an edgelord writer. It came from the Brand Manager who pushed for it very hard, while doing their damnedest to take away feminism from the Black Furies and ignored suggestions from Indigenous writer about the Native American tribes. Sadly, because this person still IS the Brand Manager, Furies are no longer women-only and no tribe has ties to any human culture.
(Also, just to be clear; Paradox denied the Onyx Path developers any name changes to the Native American tribes and the only reason their names were changed in W5 is thanks to the aforementioned Indigenous writer fighting for the changes tooth and nail.)
These are only a few things that make W5 a mess, but I hope I shed some light on the issue.

I finally tracked down a 20th Anniversary Edition of The Tale of the Body Thief, which I'd been trying to get my hands on since the editions came out. I found the first three pretty much immediately but ToBT always eluded me until now! I finally have it! It's on my shelf! Which is great because it's always been one of my absolute favorite Vampire Chronicles. Sometimes even more than Queen of the Damned.
Why? Because it's awesome. It's insightful. It's about regret and loss and grief and coping with the things you've done and the life you've lived. It's about how being a person is messy and complicated. It's about accepting yourself for who you are, not the person you think you should be.
I'm actually working on a whole post about TotBT and Lestat at the moment, but for now, I just wanted to share my excitement to finally have my hands on the legendary Mojo cover!

Mage: Awakening vs. Ascension
So I have been playing World of Darkness for a short while now and I'm also contentious in regards to Mage and its two iterations; Awakening and Ascension. Awakening is part of Chronicles of Darkness whereas Ascension is a part of World of Darkness, and they are basically parallel universes of the same-ish game.
When I started playing Awakening, I found the rules to be fairly straightforward, and I didn't have to struggle through pages of flavor text like with other World of Darkness games. The one thing I really appreciate about Ascension is its lore. It's fascinating how philosophical the game can get, whether it's during character creation or actual gameplay. Ascension explores themes such as the nature of reality, the dynamics of power, and power over the narrative.
I generally play the setting of Ascension with the rules of Awakening, but I have recently been reading about Ascension more (particularly, 20th Anniversary/4th Edition) and a homebrew of Ascension 5th Edition.
As a fan of the 5th Edition World of Darkness game lines, I am disappointed that only Vampire, Werewolf, and Hunter have been released so far. Until we get a full set, I'll have to make do with homebrews and supplements from the 4th Edition to satisfy my craving for supernatural horror.
As for this blog, I will be covering both Awakening and Ascension lore but primarily focusing on Ascension. I will, masochistically, try to work the Awakening paths and orders into the setting of Ascension and I will leave you with this question; what are your thoughts on Awakening and/or Ascension?

Clan Haljura
Tumblr media
Pariahs and outcasts, Clan Haljura are shunned, feared and hated by all who encounter them. By whatever quirk of their lineage, those who behold a Haljura feel a subtle, soul-deep revulsion. Be it fear, hate, or disgust, the emotion is slight but ever-present and even those who are prepared find it very difficult to prevent their aversion from colouring their interactions. This intrusive loathing can even drive kine and weak-willed kindred to lash out against the Haljura. But despite all this, the Haljura have carved out a place for themselves to thrive. Becoming dreaded creatures of the night who prey upon humanity from the shadows and instil utmost terror into any who earn their ire. Their Discipline of Foedus is one of bodily control. First, they control themselves, stretching out or squeezing through impossible gaps, growing new limbs or organs as needed, or splitting parts of themselves off for skulduggery. But those who master the discipline can steal the skins and minds of their victims.
You can find the full write-up of Clan Haljura and the discipline of Foedus in my book, Shrouded Legacies, a supplement for Vampire the Masquerade, 20th Anniversary Edition available on Storytellers Vault! It presents six new clans of vampires, each with their own unique signature discipline. These are to be used however the Storyteller wishes, whether new and interesting character options for your players, or as inscrutable antagonists to thwart their ambitions...

Ultimate TTRPG Rating System, Part 2
Now that I'm back from a convention, I think it's time to tackle D&D's biggest rival and see how it fares in the most important aspect of tabletop roleplaying games: can you make a foxgirl? That's right, it's
Vampire: The Masquerade (1st, 2nd, and Revised editions)
This one's sort of complicated. Yes, it is quite possible, but you have to work for it as you play the character unless you have a kind Storyteller (and I try not to rely on GM fiat for these ratings). While Clan Gangrel's Protean discipline only allows shapeshifting to wolf or bat form, their "weakness" is that they gain animal features whenever they fall to frenzy. So you sort of have to fail your way into being a proper foxgirl, but you can do it if you believe in yourself! Unfortunately if you get yourself anything other than the ears and the tail, you'll start taking penalties on Social rolls, which seems unnecessarily mean. Also the Tzimisce might be able to fleshcraft some appropriate features but… I don't know, it'd probably look a little off. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
VtM 20th Anniversary Edition
As above but the features gained are usually temporary, though can become permanent (the process for this isn't explained). ⭐️⭐️
VtM 5th Edition
The features are always temporary and only occur during frenzy. :( ⭐️

There is a special joy in running a vampire one-shot after having played only dnd adjacent games for 4 years, with people new to vampire, and afterwards talk about how they would love to again in the future
Especially since this one-shot was a "test" of some houserules and trying to GM/ST in a different way, in preperation for the Vampire chronicle i'll be starting later this week.
Click the 'keep reading' if you want to read my rant about the oneshot
The game was set in Los Angeles, vaguely during the Bloodlines game, and the story was a mix of the 'Southland Slasher' questline from the video game, and the v5 "monster(s)" quickstart story.
Honestly it went incredible smooth, they coterie was very confrontation shy, so i might have oversold the "combat is dangerous", which I went hard on cuz they were mostly familiar with DnD. But it was all very good and it felt great.
Biggest worry was that it might be too railroady, but when asked they said it felt very sandboxy for a one-shot, even if the story was a bit linear.
Ask my if you want to hear more :)

Hey so I sent an anon ask once about writing for Beckett to which you answered by listing some reads as well as his core personnality traits... do you still have it by chance? I keep searching your blog but I swear for the life of me I can't find it and I totally did not nuke my writers blog where I had reblogged it
Hi @industrialgobs! Lovely to match a face to the one of my fav asks. :D
Here is your original ask about Beckett's personality.
You mention some reads, but do you mean like, general VtM reads or books in which Beckett appears? General VtM reads recs are here, and @ryttu3k's addition and @mz-elysium's addition are even more helpful.
If you mean books in which Beckett appears...oof, that list took me awhile to find, because it's buried in several long conversations. Lemme just list it below:
The Book of Nod
Encyclopedia Vampirica (He has an entry, and if you read the front & back matter you learn about his sire Aristotle & partner Lucita)
The Victorian Trilogy
Vampire the Masquerade: Beckett graphic novel
Year of the Scarab Trilogy
Beckett’s Jyhad Diary
Nights of Prophecy
Gehenna: the Final Night
He briefly appears other places too, like in Transylvania Chronicles IV: The Dragon Ascendant, and Lore of the Clans, 20th Anniversary Edition.
My condolences on the loss of your writing blog! That sounds bad??? I want to read your fic, so I hope you can recover your work. And oops, I'm so sorry about the time-consuming searching of my blog. I should really like, put on an audiobook and make that Beckettology page, huh.

The last official Castlevania timeline from the defunct Japanese website
Before Konami restructured and renewed their old websites since some years ago, there was the official Japanese Castlevania website that was administered by Koji Igarashi himself, which was a more complete site than the western one. The timeline that was presented in the Japanese site was added so any Japanese fan could learn about the games' stories in their descriptions and how they are tied in the Castlevania universe. This official timeline stopped being updated before the release of the last DS game by Iga, which was Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Sadly, the website was deleted by Konami after Iga left them and since 2018 it has been replaced with one that is very basic, serves both Japanese and western fans, and focuses on news about the products and the physical releases in a chronological order of release, not a timeline anymore. Thankfully some fans have archived the old Japanese site for the sake of preserving it: https://web.archive.org/web/20180227155522/https://www.konami.com/games/dracula/product/data.html
Tumblr media
This is important to canon lore nerds because this is the only official timeline that has to be taken into account when discussing about what games are in and what not. Because there's still people that think that the American exclusive 20th anniversary timeline bundled with the special edition of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin in 2006 is the real deal, when in fact it only reflects the games that were available in the US and how they are aligned in a timeline that slightly differs to the Japanese one up in the website until that time.
Tumblr media
Castlevania: Dracula X on SNES for example is mentioned instead of Rondo of Blood because the game was never released officially outside Japan but until next year and the Castlevania 64 and Circle of the Moon games got also a mention -but without proper description unlike the rest- because Ecclesia was still not released until 2008 and was the definitive reason why Iga decided to fill the 1800s gap with it.
He later explained in a Japanese interview that these games were originally intended to be alternate continuities, spin-offs outside of the canon timeline and he only respected this, admitting he only left out on purpose Castlevania: Legends because it conflicted with Castlevania III and Symphony of the Night-.
Tumblr media
Anyway, here's my translation of the official timeline from the defunct Japanese website as it was in 2007. Naturally, Order of Ecclesia was not featured in it, but i added a plot synopsis just for the sake of having it complete.
1094-Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Episode depicting the beginning of the Belmont clan, the mysterious whip Vampire Killer, and Dracula. People look upon Leon Belmont as the strongest of knights. However, his destiny begins to change greatly when his fiancée is kidnapped. The stage of the battle is a vampire castle that rises in the forest called "Eternal Night". Armed with a whip given to him by the alchemist Rinaldo Gandolfi, Leon challenges the lord of the castle, Walter Bernhardt. But there a great tragedy awaits him.
Tumblr media
1476-Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse Europe in the Dark Ages. Count Dracula's genocide of humanity begins. Convinced that the count is a vampire, the Eastern Orthodox Church dispatches an army to slay him, but fails. A descendant of genuine vampire hunters, Trevor C. Belmont, will be asked to defeat him. Trevor succeeds in destroying the Count along with Grant Danasty, Sypha Belnades, and Count Dracula's son, Alucard, whom he meets in the battle. The Belmont clan, which was feared by the people for their great powers, started to be seen as heroes.
Tumblr media
1479-Castlevania: Curse of Darkness Three years have passed since Trevor C. Belmont destroyed Dracula. During the time when all of Europe was in chaos from the curse Dracula cast when he was destroyed, there was a man who lost his dearest love due to a witch hunt. That man's name was Hector. He was once one of Dracula's strongest soldiers, known as a Devil Forgemaster.... But three years ago he betrayed Dracula and broke away. Realizing the death of his lover was the work of his old friend, Isaac, he returns to his home, Valachia, for revenge.
Tumblr media
1576-Castlevania: The Adventure Count Dracula, who should have been destroyed, has come back to life. (There are rumors that the Bartley family is involved in this resurrection.) Christopher Belmont rises against the resurrected Count Dracula. Due to this resurrection, the legend that the Demon King is revived once every 100 years is born. After a fierce battle, Christopher seemed to put Count Dracula to sleep again, but that was just the beginning of another nightmare.
Tumblr media
1591-Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge Count Dracula was not destroyed. Although he lost his body, his soul remained in this world. In order to revive his body and take revenge on the Belmonts, he waits until Christopher's son, Soleil turns 15, and manipulates him to fulfill his ambitions.
Tumblr media
1691-Castlevania Count Dracula is resurrected for the second time at the call of evil humans. Thanks to the success of Simon Belmont, Count Dracula is put to sleep for a third time. His deeds become known all over the world, and he becomes one of the most famous heroes.
Tumblr media
1698-Castlevania II: Simon's Quest It has been 7 years since Simon Belmont destroyed Dracula. The Count was not simply destroyed. Before he died, he placed a curse on Simon that consumed his body. And when the curse completely consumes Simon, Count Dracula will be revived. Unless he gathers the 5 fragments of Count Dracula that have appeared scattered across the land and breaks the curse, it can't be prevented. Ignoring the decay of his body, Simon proceeds to fight once again.
Tumblr media
1748-Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance 50 years have passed since the battle of Simon. Suddenly, a mysterious castle appears. Is this Dracula's Castle? Juste Belmont explores a mysterious castle with Maxim Kischine to rescue their kidnapped childhood friend Lydie. After a fierce battle, the false Castle of Dracula disappears.
Tumblr media
1792-Castlevania: Rondo of Blood Summoned by the dark priest Shaft, Count Dracula revives. Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, a girl he rescued from the castle, destroy Count Dracula. Afterward, Maria is adopted into the Belmont family.
Tumblr media
1797-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Shaft was not dead. Moreover, he cursed Richter, who was exhausted from the battle with Count Dracula five years ago. And by manipulating Richter with that curse and using his power, he plots to revive the Count again. When the destined hunter wents missing, Count Dracula's son Alucard, who once fought alongside Trevor, wakes up from a sleep that should have been eternal. Due to his deeds, Count Dracula's resurrection is prevented. After this battle, the vampire killer will be handed over to the Morris family. However, why this happens is uncertain.
Tumblr media
1800s-Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia Sometime in the 1800s, the Belmont clan has vanished and several organizations are created in order to research countermeasures against Dracula and his eventual return. Among these organizations, the most promising was the Order of Ecclesia, who created a triad of magical glyphs named Dominus. Shanoa is a member chosen by the order's leader, Barlowe, as the human vessel for Dominus. As the ritual begins, the Dominus glyphs are stolen by Shanoa's colleague Albus, and Shanoa loses her memories and emotions. She goes to retrieve them, unaware of his true intentions.
Tumblr media
1897-(None, it's worth to note that the book by Bram Stoker has never been added as the real event, but it's more likely that what happens here just references the novel.) Quincy Morris, who is a descendant from the Belmont family, subdues Count Dracula.
1917-Castlevania: Bloodlines World War I breaks out. Elisabeth Bartley, who claims to be Count Dracula's niece, plots to revive the Count, (she caused a war to revive the Count trying to obtain human souls from all over Europe), but she was defeated by Quincy's son John and his close friend Eric Lecarde.
Tumblr media
1944-Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin During the Second World War, the castle of Demon King Dracula, which caused chaos in the world many times in the past, is revived. Jonathan Morris, who inherits the legendary whip, and Charlotte Aulin, a genius wizard, go to the devil's castle to settle the situation, but it is not Dracula that ruled the castle, it was another vampire.
Tumblr media
1999-(None, but known as the "Demon Castle War" by fans) As predicted by Nostradamus, the Great King of Terror (Count Dracula) appears. In this battle, Count Dracula will be completely destroyed.
2035-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow It is predicted that Dracula, who should have been completely destroyed, will resurrect again. And Dracula's castle, which should have been sealed in the eclipse, will also appear.
Tumblr media
2036 -Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow One year after the solar eclipse's Dracula uproar, Soma Cruz was in peace. However, the leader of a religious group, Celia Fortner, attacks Soma in broad daylight, aiming for his life. Afraid to involve Mina, Soma enters the cult's lair alone. With that, Celia began her plan for the advent of a new Demon Lord. By taking the life of Soma, who inherited the soul of the Demon Lord, she would create a new Demon Lord.
Tumblr media
There are some details here and there that enrich a bit the canon lore such as the Bartleys as the responsibles for plotting the resurrection of Dracula in The Adventure, something that was faithfully represented in the Belmont Legacy comic, that Simon's deeds made him famous across the world and the fact that Richter was possessed after being exhausted due to Dracula's battle and so on. Of course only Iga would add this for future references or just fun facts that only lore nerds will care about. It's sad that Konami deleted the timeline he supervised and wrote over the years. I hope they don't mess it up with future games.

Fanfic Writer Questions
Alright so, @optiwashere tagged me in this question thingy, how fun! I was looking for an excuse to discuss this stuff. Oh, and I will be tagging @zawazawanightmares, @modusoperand1 and @trygrievousbutgirl-blog, though ya'll are under no obligation to participate if you don't want to.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Twelve, though that number is a bit misleading because one of those has 15 chapters and has been getting sporadic updates since December of last year.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
115,036. Which seems about right, I tend to get wordy.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I started with Baldur's Gate 3 but pretty quickly expanded to Chainsaw Man, which is mostly where I hang my hat these days. I'm also planning on writing for Kakegurui eventually, and maybe Dead by Daylight and Warhammer if the mood strikes me. Oh and I wrote one fic for Werewolf: The Apocalypse that wasn't very good, but I'm probably not returning to that universe anytime soon.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In descending order: Stress Relief, In Lust and In Leaf (E-rated Karlach/Shadowheart/Tav feat. recreational drug use) Through You (E-rated Power/Kobeni, chapter-based longfic) A Matron's Mercy (E-rated Minthara/Tav with lots of gender affirmation) Underdark, Under Pressure (M-rated Shadowheart/Tav, the first fic I ever published!) Waning Moon, Not A Moment Too Soon (E-rated Shadowheart/Tav, ball-slapping sex in a broom closet)
5. Do you respond to comments?
All of them! Though it occasionally takes me a while because of things like time zones and me needing time to think of decent responses. I love getting comments!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really do angsty endings, I keep that stuff to the beginning and middle when it comes up at all, but by default this one probably goes to Would You Still Love Me if I Was Several Worms? because the ending is only very hopeful that things will work out alright instead of outright confirming it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh, hm... It's kinda hard to rank them, but I guess probably Hearts of Fire and Darkness, Eye Enough for Both, though there's no fic of mind that'd refer to as having an "unhappy" ending per se.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! Not yet at least. I'm sure there's at least one person out there who hates my guts and thinks my work is trash, but so far they've been cordial enough to keep it to themselves.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yup! I like to think of it as pretty character driven, I always try to keep track of the characters' emotions and mental state during the intense gay sex.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
None yet, but I definitely want to write one for BG3 and Chainsaw Man eventually (as in, some time before the heat death of the universe). Both fandoms have a basically immortal lesbian and they deserve to meet eachother.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not to my knowledge.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I've definitely had writer friends of mine look over sections of fics I'm working on to provide feedback and criticism, but nothing quite so involved.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
This is going to sound so stupid, but it's actually an OC x OC ship. See, once upon a time I joined a Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition roleplay server on discord. I played a terrifying, gay monster woman with way too much shit on her shoulders, and she ended up becoming the girlfriend of a blood-curdling, bisexual monster woman with a machete and a vicious streak. The scenes we wrote together there were beautiful and romantic and did wonders for my mental health. I am never going to forget those characters. Valerie and Jelena forever.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I wanted to write a novel that was basically just me throwing a bunch of mine and my friends' OCs into an angsty high school AU. It was going to be an attempt at a complex exploration of queerness, mental health and being born into a privileged but deeply abusive household. I gave up after chapter 2 because barely any of the people I showed it to for feedback got back to me, and I got demoralised. Now I write fanfiction and get feedback all the time.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Apparently, transfem rep and hurt/comfort. Which I guess I can kinda see, I'm good at hurting characters but I can never stand to see them in pain for long, hence copious amounts of comfort to compensate.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm bad at writing male characters and just flat out can't write hetero romance. Also, I'm slow as fuck.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I just don't do it, unless using Japanese honorifics when writing in English counts. If I need to have a character speak in Russian or Infernal or whatever, I just write "they said in X language" or something like that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically there's a very shitty, unfinished, first-draft, collaborative Hotline Miami fic sitting somewhere in my google docs that's probably the first if I were to check the dates. It's never going to get published or finished, but one OC I made up for it still keeps cropping up in the stories I come up with in my mind, and if I ever go professional they'll see the light of day eventually.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I technically answered this question here! But the TL;DR version is: Through You and Another Way share the top spot, passion projects that make me a little emotional to think about.

Clan Storverkr
Tumblr media
Monsters in the most literal sense, Clan Storverkr are seen by many Kindred as mere brutes and marauders. They are feared for their aberrant habits and freakish appearance, yet envied by those very same Kindred for their stubborn independence. Perhaps more than any other clan, the hard-living Storverkr exist in the moment. Driven by their increasingly alien bodies and minds, they revel in blood where they can get it, satisfy their bizarre compulsions whenever they wish and occasionally act the monsters they appear to be. The discipline of Mutare is both the birthright and the curse of the clan. It allows each of them to take on a monstrously powerful form that is unique to the Storverkr in question. But as they grow in power, they develop monstrous and outlandish features that belong nowhere in nature and are difficult to conceal. They also become driven to satisfy bizarre compulsions that mortals would consider disturbing at best and frighteningly dangerous at worst.
You can find the full write-up of Clan Storverkr and the discipline of Mutare in my book, Shrouded Legacies, a supplement for Vampire the Masquerade, 20th Anniversary Edition available on Storytellers Vault! It presents six new clans of vampires, each with their own unique signature discipline. These are to be used however the Storyteller wishes, whether new and interesting character options for your players, or as inscrutable antagonists to thwart their ambitions...

Ultimate TTRPG Rating System, Part 3
Now that we're done with vampires, we move to their archnemeses, the werewolf!
And let me just say, I have absolutely no idea what's going on with this rating system, specifically what would separate a 4-star game from a 5-star one. But like I said in the first one, the criteria are both arcane and arbitrary, so that's just how it's gonna be. Let's go!
Werewolf: The Apocalypse (1st and 2nd editions)
As one might expect from a game about being a transforming furry, this one was bound to have some foxy action. Specifically in the books "Caerns: Places of Power" and "Hengeyokai: Shapeshifters of the East." The Kitsune have five different forms, but unfortunately not even the one that's mostly human with fox features puts the ears in the right place (top of head). And for some reason the text sort of mocks both the near-human and full hybrid forms and makes them weak and useless, which loses the game points. But they are archetypal trickster foxes, and bonus points are gained both for the ability to acquire additional tails, and for the ability of the two fox forms to fight with swords held in their mouths. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
WtA Revised Edition
While you can probably use one of the aforementioned books for kitsune with this one, I still gotta dock this edition a star for not having one of its own. ⭐️⭐️
WtA 20th Anniversary Edition
All the description from the earlier editions applies, but now they put the Kitsune right in the main rulebook! AND there's a dedicated book for the non-werewolf changing breeds. This nets the game this series's first ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
