#wakko being the middle child

uncommon (?) hc time. upon rewatching some of the og series and reboot ive become fairly certain that the warners (even the youngest) are, in fact, inteded to be teens. in this bulleted list i will
no but really
when i was younger i used to think 'huh these kids act weird for their age sometimes. its like theyre not even really little kids.' as much as i coo over their cute shenanigans, i can't really see them as anything 12 or under?
the warners are all at least teens. here's why
[youtube countdown video intro music]
their ages are never actually explicity stated in canon
their heights are pretty much meaningless. the tiny toons cast are meant to be teens yet are often half or even a third the size of bugs bunny. he's also small for the record, like many other adult toons
playing child or childish roles on the in-universe show is similarly meaningless. older kids/teens are easier to direct than younger ones (though the warners are difficult at times lol)
they constantly break character and the fourth wall in ways that betray older sensibilities, taste, and knowledge
having pitched-up voices isn't an age-specific thing for toons
in the reboot their voices aren't even pitch-shifted, making them sound older
the teen-level potty humor and dirty jokes (do you remember being 13? i do. if you think some of the innuendos in animaniacs are bad, i can guarantee you real middle schoolers were/are far worse)
wakko drinking grog. his 'liquorice' [liquor-ish] problem. also stating he'd 'try anything once' (bet he enjoyed woodstock lol)
i think people mistake wakko's wackiness and earnesty for stupidity and youthful ignorance. fanon really flattens him to just being 'the dumb cute puppy' sometimes
i don't think a case really needs to be made for yakko. he's the archetypal teenage boy character in many ways
dot is just as bad as her brothers LMAO
the warners all flirt like teens
they've referenced going on 'serious' dates before
literally just watch the show. what 9-11 year olds consistently act like that lmao
this part of the series bible (which as a whole i don't consider entirely canon but the bible is obviously is the basis of the entire og series)
Tumblr media
personally, i dont care what tom said in that podcast episode. i relistened to the part where he claims they're '9, 11, 14' or whatever and it sounded like he threw those numbers out on the spot LOL. the actual show gives an entirely different impression imo
not to mention its boring always being beholden to word of god
[as a sidenote, the hc that the warners are actually fully grown adults playing children is really fucking funny to me. imagine being a dwarf toon, sounding like chip and dale's chipmunk voices, and you run around the rest of your immortality getting away with murder because everything thinks you're a cute kid. like baby from WFRR but rubberhose. big 'woman who played a 9-year old in orphan first kill' energy too]
Tumblr media
in the end it doesnt matter a ton to me? im still gonna play around with their ages in fic like always. this new teen hc mostly informed how i see wakko and dot now, because they start making a lot more sense in my head
ive also started taking a liking to the 'wakko and dot are twins' headcanon but that's for another post

Just imagine when the animainiacs finally come into the picture, only wakko is in the book of vida becuase would be so funny. Like it would finally cure wakko of middle child syndrome (look it up on YouTube, wakko suffering from middle child syndrome) and it would make yakko jealous because this gives wakko an excuse to be next to the pretty lady and not yakko. Also yakko being a better flirt compared to cuphead *cough cough*
also COME BACK
PLEASE BLESS US WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL WRITING SKILLS OF THE NEXT CHAPTER. MY CURIOSITY IS KILLING ME
Omg that’s so funny 😭 I can totally see that not gonna lie, also Yakko and Cuphead competing in a flirt match 😭 that’s hilarious

Mac, how do you get along with Hailyn's siblings?
Oh, uh, pretty fine, I guess. Me and Yakko've gotten really close over the last few months...um, Wakko likes listening to us play when we practice at Hail's, and Dot and I don't talk a lot, but when we do, we have looong conversations. It's nice, actually, even though we're the same age, I see her as a big sister. I see all of 'em as older siblings. It's nice to feel like the youngest when I'm over there. I hate being a middle child, honestly, but y'know, can't complain too much. Some people got it worse than me. -🪻

concept doodle for au
click the keep reading for lore if you want idk
————
so you want lore? okay
heres the lore:
you wanna know why wakko doesnt stick his toungue out?
he does it when alone, and rarely around his sibs bcs he wants to look "mature" since he feels like its "childish" .aka MASKING
he does his best to take good care of his lil sibs. he makes sure that hes not the one to eat all the food and does his hardest to pick out equal portions
when his brother and sister are fighting, he often starts getting anxious and tells them off
wakko's not great at comforting others according to himself but he tries his hardest and it seems as though his little siblings appreciate it, and that thought alone makes himself feel better. he hugs them, assuring he loves them and softly shushes them telling them its okay
----
dot is the middle child, the older sister to yakko, she sees wakko as a good older brother, and sees he tries.
she does her best to be the good influence on yakko when wakko cant be, and even if he is being the influence, dot does her hardest to help out
when she notices either of her brothers feeling down, she goes up and cheers them up by letting them borrow some plushies she owns while they vent to her if they so choose to (she prys a bit but not overbearingly). sometimes, if she thinks theyre feeling especially down, shell just let them own it. she gets wakko to buy her more though
----
yakko is the little talkative baby brother of the 3. he looks up so much to his older brother and sister. he loves geography. he wears his overalls.
he likes to tease his big sis about the fact that hes just slightly taller than her, but stops (or at least tones it down) when he realizes that shes getting geniuinely mad at him. afterwards he apologizes
if he finds one of his big siblings feeling down, he'll comfort them by throwing words of encouragement their way and then tells them that theyre the best big siblings in the world
.........
okay zo the lores over end of story /hj
i want to doodle these more :)

Enzo Superius' POW Card
Tumblr media
This sensitive little guy is Enzo Superius, the 5th and middle child of the Superius family. Due to his middle child syndrome, Enzo is very sensitive as he easily gets emotional at all times. He is very shy, easily cries, and gets afraid of anything scary to him. Enzo wasn't very bright either. He was quite ditzy, sometimes forgetful, absent-minded and perky. Some people, even his own family, called him dumb, but he was confused about it. However, he has a kind attitude as he loves his family very much. Becuase of his kind yet ditzy nature, he decided to become a hero. Like his family, he has many different powers, but out of all of them, his favorite/usual power was Energy Projection. He could project anything out of giant light turquoise glowing energized aura around his body. He could even project objects with his own mind. Despite being the middle child, Enzo was never overlooked by his older and younger siblings as this was given to his oldest sister Atalanta (Because of her undecided desire of becoming a hero or a villain with Enzo chose to be a hero like his father and his other siblings).
Bonus: Enzo's favorite power was based on The Powerpuff girls reboot and the superhero, Green Lantern. His signature color was also based from the Loud House character, Leni Loud, who was also ditzy and "dumb" like Enzo. His personality was also similar to the character from Animaniacs, Wakko Warner, who was the middle child of the Warner siblings.

“Why are you so nice to me” wakko or yakko max
To Wakko's delight, his brother kept good on his promise. Weeks passed and his brother devoted several days to restoring their bond just as it once was (the other days Yakko spent with Dot or with the both of them).
Heck, Wakko was so secure in his brother not abandoning him when Yakko asked if he could start up writing to Max again (at a much slower pace than before, he promised), Wakko said yes (barely) without hesitation. He knew that Max made him happy... and that he kinda owed it to Yakko to let him hang out with him again, as their little "not exactly falling out" was his fault (to him, anyway).
Everything was starting to seem... good- perfect, even.
However, Dot's birthday was rapidly approaching and Yakko was starting to get ideas.
"You know what we should do?" He said, lounging on the couch in the sunroom. "We should throw a ball for your birthday, Dot."
Dot perked up from her book. "What? Why? We never held balls for our birthdays before."
Yakko rolled his eyes. "That's because Grandma ruins everything. In this book I'm reading it says it was tradition for the royal family to hold big celebrations on their birthdays. I think it'd be fun- plus a great opportunity for you two to start making some friends."
Oh.
This again.
Wakko tried to laugh it off. "You'd have to get mum and dad to agree, and they've been pretty busy with the flooding in the west."
"Bah, that's mostly dealt with at this point. I'm sure they could use the break too," Yakko countered.
"B-but mom's coronation wasn't even that long ago," Wakko argued.
"It was over three months ago," Dot rolled her eyes. "I think a party would be fun," she looked to Yakko.
"Didn't you have fun at mom's coronation?" Yakko asked his middle sibling.
"Well I- I suppose I did..." Wakko thought back to the massive chalk drawing he had covered the floor with. It was pretty fun, and it made a lot of people happy.
"See? I'm sure a party in Dot's honor would be fun all the same- plus, making friends is great, I'm sure you'll love it," Yakko said with a reassuring smile on his face, though Wakko still wasn't quite convinced. However, he could see how much both of his siblings wanted this (even though the idea was only seconds old) and who was he to say no?
"Alright, I guess we can do that," He said, which made Dot clap in excitement as she began to detail everything she'd want for a party in her honor.
Wakko had a feeling this was going to be interesting.
.o0o.
As expected, their parents were ecstatic at the idea, and they spared no expense in attempts to create what they believed a much-needed celebration for the people of Warnerstock and their allies.
And to say it truly was Dot's creative vision would not be false. There were a lot of pinks- a lot, a lot of pinks. Though mostly tasteful, if you saw it it was hard to look away from.
But still, Wakko was happy for her, she was having the time of her life planning it all out with their dad, who was equally happy to spoil his little girl.
However, he knew deep down that despite what Yakko had sworn, her party was probably going to be very different from the coronation. He hoped it would be fun, but the more he watched decorations being put into place and talks about the guests and feasts the more he was beginning to worry.
He didn't say anything though, as the rest of his family seemed far too happy for him to want to bother them with his plight. They deserved this break, he was probably just being dramatic anyways. He'd be fine- and maybe make a friend just like Yakko said he would.
Wakko did his best to remain optimistic, despite the knots forming deep within.
It wasn't too long before the grand day arrived. Wakko had thought they had pulled out all the stops just for decorating but the day itself was insane too. Dot was showered in presents and even was taken out to town with William to go shopping for anything her heart desired, meanwhile Yakko, Wakko, and Lena stayed behind and supervised the final touches on the decorations.
Okay- really only Lena supervised, but Yakko and Wakko were technically there too. They didn't stay with her long, as she gave them a list of things to check up on so she could talk to some people which they were fine with.
Together, the brothers walked through the massive dining hall, checking curtains, flowers, vases, tapestries, etc. to make sure they were in the exact right places (not that the list really said where they were supposed to be) and checked them all off.
"So... are you looking forward to tonight?" Yakko asked, checking off 'left-most curtains'.
"Oh- uh- Yeah! I am... are you?" Wakko quickly said.
"Oh yeah, totally, it'll be great to see Max. It's been a while... you're still cool with that, right?" Yakko glanced down at him before checking another thing off.
Wakko nodded. "I won't try to prank or drive him away this time, I swear."
Yakko snorted. "I know you know better, I'm just asking if you're okay with me hanging out with him for tonight instead of you."
"Yeah, I am. You did say I should make friends after all," Wakko said, fiddling with gloves. Yakko looked away from the checklist and gave his little brother a side hug.
"I'm proud of you, you know that?" Yakko asked.
"Yeah, yeah," It was Wakko's turn to laugh.
"I'm serious-" Yakko let go and punched Wakko's arm lightly. "You're doing great. You should be proud of yourself too, you've come a long way."
Wakko smiled a little. "Maybe."
Yakko chuckled. "Well, it looks like we're just about done with this list. Wanna go turn it in to mom and go get changed into uncomfortable suits and greet guests for hours on end, or do you wanna just double and triple check the list until the last second?"
"Definitely check the list," Wakko laughed too.
And so the brothers did, until Lena caught wind of their shenanigans and forced them to start getting ready for the party (though they did cut a lot of time so technically they still regarded it as a win). At least those outfits weren't the worst they've ever worn (they were pretty confident nothing would ever top how itchy and miserable their funeral outfits were). Still, standing around and greeting people was a dreadfully boring job, not to mention awkward until their father and Dot eventually came to join them and actually do their job properly.
They knew their mom was busy, but leaving the two of them in charge was a little questionable.
Plus, after all that interaction, Wakko was starting to feel weird. Tired, but also not-? It was complicated. All he knew was that he wanted to be alone and maybe pace for a while, that'd be nice.
However, the party was to start in not too long, so he really didn't have time for that. He followed Yakko around for a while to the main party room where the people they had greeted before were all chatting amongst themselves. It wasn't too loud yet, but Wakko's tail twitched nervously as he weaved between people and conversations.
He hadn't been this nervous at the coronation- Wakko really wished he could figure out why he was feeling this way. Alas, he was unable.
He did feel a little better as Yakko and he found a spot of their own to chill in for a while, away from all the people.
"A lot of people came to this shindig, huh?" Yakko joked, "though probably no more than those who attended mom's coronation."
"Yeah..." Wakko said, trying to compare them mentally.
"More kids though, which is really good for you and Dot to make friends," Yakko said.
"Yep, yep," Wakko feigned enthusiasm.
"Are you okay..?" Yakko asked, causing Wakko to straighten out his act instantly and nod.
"Of course," he said. Yakko frowned.
"You don't have to lie you know," He remarked. Wakko bit his lip.
"M'just a little tired," he shrugged, figuring it was close enough to the truth.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Yakko asked worriedly.
Wakko nodded again. "I'll be fine, I'm probably just hungry."
Yakko laughed a little. "Alright, but you'll tell me if anything is wrong, right?"
"Mhm."
"Good."
The brothers stood in a bored silence for a while, before the rest of their family walked in and the festivities officially began.
It started with the feast, which was pretty harmless, as Wakko enjoyed talking with his family and the food was "quite excellent". The hall was filled with good cheer and hearty laughter, which he could appreciate.
However, after that, things began to blur.
It seemed only moments ago he was eating when suddenly everything was taken away and it turned into social hour. and Dot and their parents disappeared once more. He recalled Yakko asking if it was okay for him to go to Max, to which Wakko nodded and even pushed him away some. Oh god- he hoped that wasn't too aggressive.
Now he was alone. People were talking, walking, dancing, all sorts of activities. Wakko tried to take it all in, but all of the colors and sounds were starting to burn his eyes.
Friends. He was told he had to make friends.
He tried looking around for kids his age, but just turning his head made him dizzy.
Hmph.
Still, he was determined to function as a normal child would so he began weaving through the rapidly shifting crowd as he had earlier, just with a much louder and more busy crowd.
Suddenly his suit was starting to feel a lot more uncomfortable than before. God- if he could just find someone-
He bumped right into a lady in a bright purple dress. He quickly stuttered an apology before scurrying away as fast as he could, not even waiting for a response.
Seriously- was his suit trying to choke him? He pulled on it desperately, but if anything it just made the pull tighter. Wakko growled to himself as he walked further and further away from whoever that lady was, until he hit the wall.
At least the marble was cool, it was starting to feel like it was a million degrees in here.
Still, it wasn't enough. he still felt hot, and stuffy- was he even breathing anymore?
...Yes, yes he was. Rather fast though- oh dear, was that his heart? oh god- what was happening? Why was the music so loud? Why was his collar so tight? When was the last time he blinked? Where were these "kids" Wakko was supposed to make friends with?
Wait- no, he could see those. A group of them- shit, they were looking at him. Wakko noticed his nail was twitching nervously- he grabbed it and forced it to stop, but the kids laughed.
Wakko ran away again, covering his ears, his face turning red and the knot in his stomach transporting itself to his throat.
"No, no, no, no. Please, not now..." He pleaded with himself, but he didn't listen, and tears started to form. Wakko looked desperately for a quick way out, but still couldn't find any- curse the size of this place.
However, as his eyes darted around anxiously, he spotted something- a table covered in a white cloth that went to the ground. Without hesitation, Wakko went to it, making sure no one saw him before crawling underneath.
Wakko stayed there, covering his ears and rocking back and forth awhile, cursing his stupid brain for making these stupid tears that wouldn't end. He also cursed the stupid music for being too loud and the guests for being so many.
He wanted Mom.
He wanted mom to come and find him and scoop him up and take him to the playroom and sit in the rocking chair and rock him to sleep.
However, she didn't come.
No one did.
He was alone, and these tears weren't making him any calmer. Everything still felt so loud- it wasn't this loud before- he loved mom's coronation. Why was his brain so stupid?!
The young prince continued like that for a while, before someone came and lifted the tablecloth. He tried to make a run for it, but the someone grabbed his arm before he could- Wakko turned to look at their face and-
It was Max.
"S-sorry, I probably shouldn't... grab you," He let go, and Wakko scooted back, though he didn't leave. Max saw this as an invitation and joined him under the table.
"A-are- uh... Are you okay?" Max asked. Wakko looked away and shrugged.
"Right... not much of a talker..." Max recalled. Wakko nodded once, though he instantly regretted it, as it made his head feel weird.
Max tapped his fingers on his knee as he tried to figure something out. Wakko avoided any looks the Disney Prince gave him.
"Do you want some water? I can go get you some water," Max offered. Wakko sniffled and thought about it, before nodding once more (and regretting it once more).
with that, he disappeared, though not for too long.
Wakko noticed he stopped crying.
"Here, take this," Max handed him the glass. Wakko accepted the offering, taking a long drink.
Well, that felt at least a little bit better.
He glanced at Max.
"A-aren't you supposed to be with Yakko?" he asked.
"Dot was practically begging Yakko for a dance and I let him, it's her day after all," Max chuckled.
That made sense.
Wakko looked down at the glass, tapping his finger against it and looking at the water ripple.
"Do you need to step out of the party for a sec?" Max asked.
Wakko shrugged, taking a sip.
"Here- I'll help you find an exit," Max said, getting up and holding the cloth open for Wakko.
He hesitated.
He didn't deserve this- such kindness from the guy he locked in the tower mere weeks ago- it didn't make sense.
Then again, he'd give anything to get out of here.
Wakko listening to his senses and got out.
Carefully he followed Max through the gigantic room until they eventually reached a door, through which both of them slipped out of and into a calm and dark hallway.
Instantly, Wakko felt calmed, taking a deep breath.
"Wanna sit down?" Max asked, gesturing to the couches nearby. Wakko nodded. However, instead of sitting on the couch, he chose to lay on the cool floor, even taking off his gloves so he could feel the marble with his fingers.
Max didn't say anything for a while, not seeming to mind the silence. Which was good- because Wakko didn't feel like breaking it.
After a while though, a thought nagged at his brain.
Why.
Why on earth would Max help him? After everything he did? After everything he jeopardized? It didn't make sense.
Wakko sat up. Max looked at him but didn't say anything.
Wakko sighed.
"Why-?" He paused.
"Why... are you being so nice to me?"
"You were in trouble, I couldn't ignore that," Max shrugged. Wakko frowned, putting his gloves back on.
"I-i... Aren't you mad? At least a little?" He asked.
"It wasn't my first time being locked in a room for hours on end," Max snorted.
"Y-yeah, but I tried to hurt you. And Yakko..." Wakko looked at the ground. "I know how much you mean to him."
Max blinked.
"I- uh... well-" Max struggled with his words a moment.
"I don't... blame you, I guess. It's as new to you as it is to me and with a past and family tree like yours, I guess I don't blame you for lashing out? I dunno," Max shrugged, looking away.
Huh...
"Still... you didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to. Trust me, I would've helped any kid I found under there, but I'm glad it was you," Max said.
Wakko looked at him, deciding whether or not he believed that. Ultimately, he did.
"You know... Yakko talks a lot about you," Max said, piquing Wakko's interest.
"He worries a lot, but he says you're a really sweet kid, and I believe that," Max smiled a little. "You should be easier on yourself, you're still growing up you know?"
Wakko thought about that.
"I guess," He said. Max snorted.
"You know... you do seem like a pretty cool kid. I'm sorry if you ever felt I was ignoring you, I promise I'll try to make up for it too," He said.
Wakko thought about that too.
"Thanks," He said.
"I really do hope we can grow to like each other. Yakko means a lot to me and you mean a lot to him... you know?" Max blushed a little, scratching the back of his neck.
Wakko nodded, grinning a little.
"So... are we... cool?" Max asked.
Wakko thought about that as well.
"Yeah, we're cool," He said with his signature smile.
"Cool," Max grinned back. "Because I'm pretty sure Yakko might lose it if his dance with Dot ended and he can't find me."
Wakko laughed.
"Will you be alright?" Max asked, standing. Wakko nodded, getting up as well.
"I'm feeling a lot better... though I think I'll look for mum and dad," He said.
"Fair enough," Max nodded once. "Well- uh... see you around, I guess."
"See you around," Wakko laughed at his awkwardness before going back through the doors and back to the party.
Max followed soon thereafter, hoping Yakko wouldn't be too mad or worried at him for his sudden disappearance.
.o0o.
Yakko couldn't believe that a year ago today he thought his parents were dead. It baffled him honestly- he could turn his head and his parents were right there. They were never really dead- it shocked him to remember sometimes.
He also couldn't believe that only a year ago the most celebration they could share for Dot's birthday was a mini cake they had to sneak late at night.
And now look where he was- dancing in the middle of the ballroom with his little sister having the time of his life- despite the fact Dot couldn't stop giggling and he almost dropped her that one time.
However, he had to draw the line after three songs, which Dot understood, and he gave her back to their parents, hoping Max wouldn't be too mad about Dot taking up so much of his time.
"Ah, Max, there you are- sorry for dancing so long, I have a hard time saying no to her," Yakko laughed between pants, scratching the back of his neck.
"You just got done?" Max teased.
"Yeah, she really liked dancing," Yakko shrugged, putting his hands in his pockets.
"You look like you could use a breather," Max raised an eyebrow at him.
"Who, me? Whatever would give that idea?" He played back, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"C'mon- let's go to the balcony," Max said, taking his hand.
When they got to the door Yakko paused as he looked back at his family, unsure. However, his parents looked at him, and after giving a fair look of warning, they both gave him a thumbs up and nod of approval, and Yakko went off with his prince.
However, they didn't pick a random one, they went all the way through the halls to the usual one they'd go to when Max visited Warnerstock (the kid had a thing for balconies).
"Ahh, fresh air," Yakko embraced the cool night.
"Yep," Max embraced it too, immediately going and leaning on the rails.
"Are you liking the party?" Yakko asked.
"It's pretty good- though a little crowded, but I always know how to find some space," Max answered.
"I feel that- when my birthday rolls around, I'll make it a lot less crowded. I don't know what Dot had against having it outside, but what are you gonna do?" Yakko shrugged.
"I think Wakko would appreciate a smaller shindig," Max said, looking at the garden.
"What makes you say that?" Yakko decided to take his place next to Max also leaning against the railing.
"Ran into him- he wasn't having the best time so I helped ground him again," Max said like it was no big deal.
It was.
"Grounded him? You- managed to calm him down? Is he okay? What happened?" Yakko asked quickly.
"Woah, woah, it's okay. He's totally fine, just... overwhelmed." Max said.
"Oh... well... I'm glad he's okay," Yakko took a deep breath. "And I'm even more glad you were able to help him- that's huge... really."
He looked at him when he said that last part. Max blushed.
"I would've helped anyone, seriously," He looked away.
"Mhm, sure," Yakko teased.
"I am serious though- it probably means a lot to Wakko- he doesn't accept help easily and to allow you... it means he's starting to like you," Yakko said in all seriousness.
"That's good," Max nodded. "I really do want your family to like me- I just... don't have the best ways of showing it, I suppose."
"Hey, you're doing great so far," Yakko held his hand.
There was a moment before Yakko realized what he was doing and both boys broke the gesture.
"Haha... yeahhhh," Max looked at the wall away from Yakko.
There was a stretch of silence between the two, neither knowing what to do. Sure they knew what they wanted but... things are never as easy as just doing what you want.
"My dad and uncles like you too- if you care about that," Max decided to say.
"That's good," Yakko smiled a little, rubbing his thumb on the railing.
Another pause.
"You know- It's funny to me how when we met you thought I might too cool for you," Max remarked.
"When did I ever say that?" Yakko said.
"You called me cool at least fifty times upon first meeting me," Max play punched his arm.
"As I recall, you called me cool, so who's the real cool one here?" Yakko punched him back and the princes laughed.
"Alright, alright, you got me," Max chuckled. "I was just trying to say you were totally wrong, I don't have a cool bone in my body."
"God- you're so cool you don't even know how cool you are. Typical," Yakko sighed teasingly.
"Hey, didn't I just say you're pretty cool too?" Max accused playfully.
"Oh please, you're way cooler. No trauma and with fluffy, luxurious hair like that? Please," Yakko rolled his eyes.
"Oh puh-lease yourself. Trauma is just a cool backstory and you're home is a lot more fun and a lot less crowded and your family is a lot more cool too," Max pointed his finger at Yakko.
"You're exaggerating," Yakko pointed back.
"Nope- not at all. You're one of my first true friends and that automatically makes you very cool," Max crossed his arms.
"Oh yeah? W-well-" Yakko paused, looking at Max carefully.
A pause.
Max's dark brown eyes shined back at Yakko, reflecting the stars that surrounded them wonderfully. His fluffy and luxurious hair framed his face with perfect ease. His signature smile slowly turned into that of curiosity.
Yakko felt his heart flutter.
"I'm not as cool as you think," Yakko stepped down, looking at the ground.
Coward.
Another pause.
"..."
"Well maybe you are right- maybe I am cooler than you."
"Wha-?"
Before Yakko could finish the sentence, Max grabbed his shoulder and pulled him into a kiss.
"S-see?" Max was internally "fjdkaf;sfj"-ing in his brain. "You've won- I'm a lot cooler."
"Y-yeah," Yakko could barely speak his face was as red as Wakko's hat. "You're... yeah," his face melted into a goofy grin.
"Oh god- I'm sorry- d-did you not mean that..?" Max panicked, quickly becoming embarrassed.
"N-no!" Yakko snapped to life. "I-i... I- uh..."
"I liked it," He managed to say. Max smiled.
"W-... Wanna do it again?" Yakko proposed, and Max nodded, and they shared another kiss.
Yakko knew it was corny to think, but it truly felt just like fireworks in his chest.
He liked Max- Max liked him. A part of himself was realized- and he felt alive. A good kind of alive- not the kind of alive that came from life or death situations.
"So... I guess that makes us even," Max joked. Yakko laughed.
"I guess so," He couldn't get himself to stop smiling- neither could Max. They looked at each other before bursting into laughter again.
"Man, we really should return to the party," Max said.
"Yeah, you're right," Yakko's face was starting to hurt from the smiling.
"Do- uh... do you think your parents will be cool... orrrr...?" Max asked.
"Psh, I'm sure they'll be fine," He said without hesitation.
"Cool," Max said, opening the door out of the balcony.
Yakko looked at him for a moment, trying to absorb the moment as best he could.
"You okay?" Max asked.
"Yep," Yakko said, taking a deep breath as he implanted it in his memory in his brain forever.
"C'mon, let's go before they think we've done something stupid," Yakko said, quickly joining Max and grabbing his hand before running back to join his family.
however, right before entering the party room once more, Yakko paused.
"Does this mean our friendship is basically ruined?" He asked.
Max thought about it.
"I wouldn't think of it as a ruining per se... maybe think of it as an upgrade of sorts," Max winked.
God, he was so much cooler.
"Cool," Yakko grinned, squeezing Max's hand.
"Well... uh- shall we?" Max let go and offered Yakko his arm.
Yakko thought about it.
Taking it would mean no taking it back- it would mean the whole party would basically know that they kissed (holy shit- they kissed! that was a thing that happened!). His parents, his siblings, practically the whole kingdom, and their allies.
Yakko couldn't imagine any other way to walk back in.
He took his arm.
"We shall."

Okay, okay, I'm the previous anon who just started the show a few days ago... I kinda wanna write fic, but I'm having trouble figuring out all of their personalities. Could you please tell me as much about each Warner sibling and their respective personality? In return, when I publish the fic, I'll send you the link (it will definitely be wholesome and fluffy).
i’ll do my absolute best
Yakko Warner
oldest sib (14 years old)
most talkative of the three (as his name implies)
master of sarcasm, wit, and being an annoying little dude
usually the one taking the charge
protective (we see this a lot in the reboot)
big fan of geography and history
would 100% die to keep his younger sibs safe
loves his siblings more than anything in the world
Wakko Warner
middle sib (about 11 years old)
a lot more laid back than his other siblings
relies less on talking and more on his physical comedy
very goofy child
will eat literally anything but does have a limit (death via swedish meatballs)
gag bag™️
big fan of don knotts
gookie
loves his siblings more than anything in the world
Dot Warner
youngest sib (most people say 9 or 10 years old)
knows she’s cute but also knows that she’s so much more than that (you go, girl)
makes savage clapbacks
equal rights are important to her (#cartoonvotingrights)
not afraid of anyone or anything
pulls off the best outfits
has a very scary pet
can and will use her cute to persuade someone (@ that one guard in wakko’s wish)
loves her siblings more than anything in the world

Wakko Warner Headcanons
-Our non-binary icon
-He/them or he/him enby
-Autistic (Stims including food, sticking out his tongue, tugging on his hat, longer sleeves)
-Angry crier
-Middle child syndrome, deals with both envy for the attention his siblings get, while also kind of unknowingly being the glue that holds all of them together
-Frequently has stomach aches and will curl up with his siblings on the couch while they put on his favorite shows
-When he gets overstimulated and nears a breakdown he goes to Yakko who helps him through it
-When he needs someone to just talk to Dot is a really attentive listener and will let him come and sleep in her bunk for the night if he’s had a rough day
-Really really forgetful, nearly never takes off his hat (gift from Yakko when he was really little) and one time he loses it and is inconsolable
-Probably mumbles about things to himself while working out things in his head
-His accent (based on Ringo Starr in real life) was because he had a deep love of the Beatles growing up, started learning how to use it and it entirely stuck
-Established in reboot that he sleep walks and sleep eats and I absolutely think he has some sleep disorders there, including sleep talking that will wake up Yakko and lead to really funny videos that will eventually end up online
-Loves sci-fi with a passion and probably loves science you can’t tell me this boy after all those Trek references wasn’t interested in space also loves Bill Nye bitch me too the fuck
-Looks after Yakko and takes over when he can when Yakko looks exhausted and overwhelmed
-Looks out for Dot and is first in line to beat their ass with a mallet in hand when someone is a jerk to her
-Literally left home and worked his ass off for an entire year when Dot was sick in Wakkos Wish don’t talk to me
-(as the youngest child a lot like Dot with 2 older siblings remarkably similar to Yakko and Wakko I get a lot of feelings about this) but Wakko and Dot have a really strong relationship being closer in age, the type to dare each other to do something stupid, race each other to the tower, stay up super late taking turns beating levels in the video game they got for Christmas and when Yakko gets grumpy they both try and tickle him until he’s giggling and putting an arm around them both
-all and all we love this baby angel and I will destroy someone on his behalf if I have to 10,000/10

What headcanons do you have?
Ask and you shall receive.
Wakko:
The Middle Child - 11 years old
Eats almost ANYTHING!
Has autism and OCD
The most sensitive out of the Warners
He tugs on his ears or chews his lip a lot whenever he feels anxious or stressed
Very emotional, is quick to laugh and quick to cry
Gets angry very easily, anger him and you just might regret it
Non-binary, but uses he/him pronouns
A very very BIG nu metal junkie!!!
His pajamas consist of a oversized baggy black t-shirt with a Korn logo on the front and gray lounge pants
Very protective of his siblings, can and will go feral and shred people to pieces for his family
Has hypoglycemia
His hat is his comfort item, as he’s never seen without it
Acts more puppy-like. Just 100% more affectionate, more playful but also more protective
Prone to having panic attacks
Tries his best to hide his severe anxiety and depression from his siblings due to an incident he had with Weed Memlo all the way back in 1929 (where he had DIP poured onto his back causing pink splotches of scarring to form; the fur unfortunately never grew back. This has become heavily inspired by metallideth01's own headcanons); on nights when he feels especially awful, he’ll look to either brother or sister for comfort. They're the only ones who know how to make him feel better
Often has nightmares, his siblings know it very well and are always there by his side to calm him down and tell him everything will be ok
Claustrophobic
Has extremely sharp teeth (he only uses them if he absolutely has to)
Has a bit of an interest in puppetry
Yakko:
The Oldest Child - 14 years old
He's the one who yaks!
Bisexual and proud
HATES raisins
Lactose intolerant
He really really really LOVES the color lavender!
Carries around a stash of emergency snacks for Wakko whenever his hypoglycemia acts up. The first well-known incident was in chapter one of kitkat1003's story "Tower Tales", where he had Dot hit his face with a pie to feed him
Snorts when he laughs
His fur is thinner so he easily gets cold
A huge fan of Queen
His pajamas consist of a simple white t-shirt and lavender lounge pants
Hyperfixates on history and geography and infodumps whenever he can. He even got his siblings interested
Isn’t used to being by himself, as all three siblings never are
Dot:
The Youngest Child - 10 years old
Full name is Princess Angelina Louisa Cantessa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca the third, call her Dottie and you die
She is the only one of the three who can do math
Her favorite color is pink; so her pajamas consist of a pink tank top, sweatpants and bunny slippers
Social learner
Be mean to her brothers and she’ll mess you up
More easily relaxed than her brothers, but proves on numerous occasions that she can be just as wild as they are
Secretly awesome at singing screamo

Ok so, I know nothing about the warner siblings so when I read your comic and the written version I could tell a lot of stuff went over my head, if you wouldn't mind can you explain the lore? Cause I am really curious!
Ooo here we go!!!!
What you need to know is that the Warner sibs were drawn in 1930; their purpose to make a boring cartoon funny with their antics. However, their creator was stressed and sleep-deprived when creating them, so when they jumped out of the page, they were acting completely insane, destroying the lot and terrifiying the lot staff. The cartoons they made were weird and baffling to the executives and no one could handle them.
So, to keep the studio safe, they threw the children into the water tower and bolted it shut. They were captured and stuck in there for 60 years (not consecutively, they escaped from time to time, but always got thrown in again) and were pretty much forgotten about
Since they are toons, they don't age. Yakko, the leader, is 14, protective of his sibs and a sarcastic smart mouth. Wakko, the middle child, is 11, always hungry, naive and the best in tune with his hammer space (he makes things appear from his gag bag and uses visual comedy). Dot, the cute one, is 10, while being sassy, smart and adorable all at the same time.
Then, one day, Spielberg decided that the world was crazy. Crazy enough for these 3 toons to get a chance in the lime light. Animaniacs started and the kids did sketches alongside other toons.
Cutting edge, political humor, parodies, puns, plain cartoon violence, that's what the show was about.
There were also parts that plainly showed the Warners in "real life". The staff of the Warner studios trying to get them into school and visit a psychiatrist for example. Or where the 3 hang out in the tower or travel the world
However a lot, A LOT of educational songs, were made, too.
Yakko's world was and still is the most popular, and gets referenced a lot in the show. Some people know Animaniacs simply because of that one, really impressive song. Mr. United States Canda Mexico Panama is pretty much Yakko's brand. He likes to yak after all.
Then the show ended in 1998 and the Warner sibs were put into suspended animation, (we're disregarding the movie here for the sake of lore, but it's a comedy show, who bothers) since keeping them in the tower had proven to be fruitless a lot of the time.
Now it's 2020, the Sibs have been reanimated and are back in action!
However, it seems like there is a hidden arc going on, which has never been the case before.
Yakko mellowed since 1998, and there are clear hints that something is going on. Since their come back, Yakko acts a bit more mature, at least he's trying to be, and he is confronted with a lot of his fears this season.
Not being heard, being ignored, becoming tongue-tied, becoming mute. Not being funny and being forgotten about. And it's subtle, but you see him struggle in those moments, his need to be validated by those around him and that hits really hard in a show that is supposed to be funny
It doesn't help that his sibs are not fond of his puns, or educational songs. They roll their eyes and warn him with looks, like "No, stop, you're being embarassing" multiple times.
Hence why my comic!
I tied the little Warners jealousy of their older brother's success in his songs with his fear of messing up something he was born to do: talk.
Yakko's world is outdated by now, a lot was already wrong back in 1998. And the pressure, to sing a song again this popular, that's stressful and simply perfect for Yakko to go panic mode over.
I made Wakko the one to talk down on his brother for a reason, too, since he is actually mad about Yakko's song. He clearly states it in one of the reboot episodes, since his own song, Wakko's America, is similar and didn't get half that recognition: "You're great at taking all the credit..."
Sooo... to sum it up:
Funny bunny/kitten/puppy children trio has an older brother who is trying his best to be their step-up dad in a world that hates them, full of fear of messing everything up while the other two have no clue and living their best life while occassionally stepping on that older brothers feelings without realizing
I hope that helped! I... simply love the Warners

Your opinion of the Warner siblings
Ok hold on Anon this might get really long but if you want a shortened version is that I love the 3 equally all of them are my favorite, sorry I'm such a mom.
Yakko Warner is the older brother I wish I had honestly, he is so good and caring to them he such a refreshing take on an animated older brother since they're always portrayed as bullys or just plain mean to their younger siblings but he was the opposite although he could be a pain in the butt sometimes he was just the best but I did dislike him for awhile as a child because he has the best songs and Wakko and Dot don't have a lot of songs but I don't blame him for that but the main reason I love him and most of the fandom he is our angsty boy, 14 year old boy orphaned caring for his younger siblings who where locked for 60 years in a water tower is a lot to handle at that young age but he manages and is just the bro ever and that's why we love him.
Ok even though I said the three of them are my favorite, secretly Wakko is my favorite, why? I relate to him a lot He a middle child, he is always hungry, good, silly and he is just the best, and also one of the best middle child representation in animation out there. And I always thought he was the least popular one growing up but seeing how much fanart and presence he has in the fandom and the whole non-binary thing that happened in the comics I was obviously wrong and then seeing him in Wakkos Wish being so caring, hardworking and good to his siblings through out the movie made me love him even more.
Dot I would put her full name but Im too lazy so Dot I feel she is kinda underrated in the fandom which I believe is because she is not as wild and wacky as her brothers but I believe no she is even more crazier than her brothers but she know to appear more subdued that's it, but I love her actually she is so much fun, wit and of course the cutest toon that has been ever created, and before the whole controversy of female animated characters not being smart or strong and just being too girly, Dot was breaking stereotypes back in the 1990s.
And I could make a whole 30 minute video essay about the Warner Siblings but I will it here and Thanks for the ask!

I just have some Animaniacs ranting to get off my chest and am too tired to post at my main, so here. Content warning for incest ship, underage ship.
----
Folks, it does not matter and does not hurt anything if there is Animaniacs smut or shipping fics that pair the Warners with each other. It’s not my thing, but as long as it’s tagged, it isn’t harming anyone.
They’re cartoon characters.
But okay, if “they’re not real” doesn’t move you, consider: They’re cartoon characters. In-universe. They run on Looney Tunes logic, best explained by a scene from Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Roger can’t escape from the handcuffs unless it would be funny.
Their ages are, and I am not exaggerating, a guideline, not An Immutable Fact About Reality. They’re cartoon characters! Toons don’t do Immutable Facts About Reality! They do whatever is funniest!
Yakko is teenagerish unless it’s funnier for him to be dad-aged. Wakko is the middle child unless it’s funnier for him to be younger than Dot. Dot is a young girl unless it’s funnier for her to be a CEO.
You wanna wank about canon ages? All right. The Warners were canonically created in the 1930′s. They make jokes about it being twenty-two years since the last episode in episode one of the revival.
Their ages are guidelines.
They are cartoon characters.

Weekend With The Warners Chapter Two - Animaniacs & Pinky and The Brain
Summary: When the CEO tasks Pinky and The Brain with the important assignment of watching over the Warners for the weekend, Brain is prepared for any antics that the children have in store. What he didn’t take into account was forming a familial bond with the kids.
Word Count: 3,017
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27849962/chapters/68388166
The mice continued on their way through the studio lot, holding hands as they went. As they found themselves alone near the lot entrance, Brain decided to discuss his latest plan with his partner.
“Listen close, Pinky, for I have devised a surefire plan to take over the world. Your ingenious decision of choosing The Iron Giant as our date night movie the other evening has greatly inspired me, Pinky. We will build a giant robot to assert our dominance over humanity!” Brain eagerly declared, choosing to ignore the pacifist message of the beloved animated movie. “I’ve already made calculations for our finances, and we would need exactly five million dollars to buy the necessary parts. Fortunately, I’ve come up with a brilliant way to acquire the funds.”
Brain pulled Pinky closer as he explained. “We will start a family-friendly crafts tutorial channel on YouTube, teaching children how to make slime among other wholesome DIY-projects. After we grow a substantial following, we’ll shamelessly peddle overpriced merchandise! Once we make a fortune from selling our wares, we will then purchase the necessary materials to construct our mech which we will use to intimidate the Canadian Prime Minister and ascend to power!”
The Brain began to chuckle evilly, and Pinky joined in with his eager giggling.
“But first, we must purchase filming equipment from the electronics store and return to the lab!” Brain commanded.
“Say Brain, how do you spell DIY?” Pinky asked, taking out a pen and notebook.
Brain blushed furiously upon hearing his boyfriend’s moronic question. “Pinky, you are without a doubt the most imbecilic mouse I’ve ever met. But, by Ptolomey, I am madly in love with you.”
“Aw Brain!” Pinky cooed, moving his tail into the shape of a heart.
As the lab mice were about to exit the movie lot, they were stopped by Ralph the security guard.
“Uh, hold it right there.” The bumbling guard ordered. “The CEO wants me to bring you two to her office by cone, duh-I mean drone!”
The mice were immediately swooped into a net and carried above by the drone. Ralph had some difficulty controlling the drone, but he managed to fly the rodent actors over to the main office building in the middle of the studio lot.
“This is utterly mortifying.” Brain commented as he tried to prop himself into a more comfortable position.
“Oh cheer up, Brain,” Pinky consoled. “Think of it like we’re on a magic carpet ride!” The taller mouse wrapped his arm around Brain, pulling him close as he began to sing. “I can show you the worl-”
But Brain clapped his hand over Pinky’s mouth while wearing an indignant frown. “Don’t.” The smaller mouse spat.
As the drone flew through an open window in the office building, the mice were immediately greeted by the company CEO, Nora Rita Norita. The businesswoman brought out a pair of scissors, cutting through the net. Upon liberation, the mice fell down onto one of the leather chairs facing the front of her desk.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me.” Ms. Norita addressed.
“Frankly I would have preferred some prior notification about this emergency meeting, such as an email or a text message, as opposed to being captured in a drone and flown over against my will, but here we are.” Brain soured.
“Are we in trouble?” Pinky asked worriedly. The taller mouse paced back and forth on the chair as he started to panic. “I swear I didn’t do anything wrong! I’m innocent, I tell you! Innocent! You can’t make me go back to the big house!”
“No, I can assure you that you’re not in any serious trouble.” The CEO told the buck-toothed mouse.
Pinky was immediately relieved by the news. “Oh thank goodness.” He sighed. “Sorry if I got a little carried away there.”
“A little?” Brain snapped sardonically.
“Gentlemen,” Ms. Norita curtly alerted the mice, who gave her their undivided attention. “I’ve called you here because I have an important task for you to complete over the weekend. I have a very important business conference with some very important people in the Warner Brother’s office and I don’t want the Warner children to cause any problems. And since I became aware of your friendly rapport with the Warners, I have decided to give you two the important task of watching over the Warners starting tomorrow afternoon, where you will take care of them outside of the movie studio until Sunday evening.”
Pinky stood up and cheered. “Oh, we’re going to have so much fun with the little angels over the weekend!”
Brain, on the other hand, was shocked that the CEO would disrupt his regular routine and plans for world domination, one of the few things he had complete control over.
The CEO confidently smiled, happy that at least one of them was on board. “And to sweeten the offer, I already booked a nearby hotel with five-star accommodations and you can use the company credit card for any additional payments over the weekend that aren’t related to world domination.” She said, showcasing the golden credit card. Pinky’s eyes glistened as he gazed at the card, clearly enamored by how shiny it was. Brain, however, let out a defeated groan since he couldn’t use the card for his own selfish purposes.
Ms. Norita continued to speak. “I sent you all the information in an email, and-”
“Why are you assigning us to complete this task?” Brain interrupted.
“Because I noticed how well you and your partner get along with the Warners.” The CEO answered with feigned enthusiasm. “And who can do a better job at watching those troublesome kids than people who could put up with their antics.”
Brain cringed when she referred to the energetic kids as mere troublemakers. He genuinely enjoyed being around the Warners ever since the original run of Animaniacs. He recalled the days where he and Pinky spared some of their free time to check in on the Warners. From sharing the same table during lunch hour to visiting them in their home in the water tower before sunset, when the mice had to leave for Acme Labs. Even though the kids had a knack for craziness, the Warners were genuinely good kids who craved validation and attention.
But despite being on good terms with the children, Brain was far too upset that his usual schedule had been suddenly modified by a force outside of his control. He didn’t want another chance to take over the world to skip off into the sunset.
“But Pinky and I already have plans for the weekend!” Brain argued. “And besides, shouldn’t you recruit a more qualified candidate like Bugs Bunny?”
“He’s busy filming for the Looney Tunes Cartoons and the new Space Jam movie.” Ms. Norita explained. “And what, may I ask, did you have planned for the weekend that’s so important to you?” She asked dryly.
“We were going to take over the world by making a crafts YouTube channel for the little kiddies!” Pinky answered.
“I think you can put your little pet project on hold,” Ms. Norita explained to the smaller mouse. “So I suggest you accept the task like the grown-up that you are or I’ll fire you, inform the press it was a matter of ‘creative differences’ and have Edgwin on board as your replacement.”
The two mice exchanged shocked and horrified glances at the sheer audacity the CEO had for even considering the idea of messing with their brilliant chemistry.
“Why would you do something so cruel!?” Pinky remarked, but Brain gently took the taller mouse’s hands into his own.
“Please, ignore my partner’s outburst, for I’m more than happy to cancel my weekend plans!” Brain exclaimed with a nervous chuckle. “After all, we do have the previous child-rearing experience, making us more than qualified for the job!”
“That’s what I like to hear.” The CEO got up from her desk and walked over to the door, opening it up and gesturing the two mice to make their leave. “Have a fun weekend.”
Brain grabbed Pinky by the hand and they made their jump from the chair onto the floor. The pudgy mouse tugged his lanky partner as they exited her office.
Once the mice were gone, Nora Rita Nortita retrieved her cell phone, scrolled through her contacts until she found the name she was looking for.
Inside the water tower, Wakko and Dot were watching a competitive baking show on Netflix while Yakko was snug in his ball pit bed, watching a shounen anime that Wakko constantly infodumped on his tablet while eating a bag of potato chips. While he initially watched the show so he could better connect with his sibling, the eldest Warner became emotionally invested in the story. As the big fight scene was about to start, he felt his smartphone vibrate in his pocket. The eldest Warner fished out his phone, saw Nora Rita Nortita’s picture on the home screen. He pressed pause on his tablet and quickly answered the call.
“Yello, Warner residence! Totally responsible young adult Yakko Warner speaking!” He answered, trying to sound as mature as possible.
“Hi, this is Nora Rita Norita.” The CEO answered. “And I have some rather exciting news to deliver.”
“Oh?” Yakko replied in a casual tone.
“As you may know, I will be holding an incredibly important conference this weekend, so I assigned Pinky and The Brain to watch over you and your siblings at a five-star hotel this weekend.”
“Really!?” Yakko asked with child-like enthusiasm. “Pinky and The Brain are taking us to a fancy hotel this weekend! Oh man, that’s fantastic news!”
Wakko and Dot paused their show and immediately rushed over to their brother’s bedside upon hearing the words ‘Pinky’, ‘The Brain’ and ‘fancy hotel’.
“The mice will pick you up tomorrow in front of the water tower at noon, and you better not come back to the studio lot at any point before Sunday evening.” The CEO informed him.
“You kidding? We rarely get to hang out with those guys, considering how busy they are trying to take over the world. So we intend to cherish every waking second with those two!” Yakko answered.
“Great,” Norita drawled. “I’m sure the five of you will have a grand old time this weekend. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a power-meeting to attend.”
Yakko heard the phone click on the other end, but he was too excited by the news to care about the CEO’s rude behavior. “Hey sibs! We’re spending the weekend with Pinky and the Brain!” The eldest Warner proclaimed. Wakko and Dot cheered uproariously, bouncing up and down with excitement.
“Say, do you two remember during the original run of Animaniacs when those two would usually hang out with us on the studio lot whenever we weren’t filming for the show?” Yakko asked his siblings, feeling rather nostalgic.
“Like how we’d sit at the same table at the commissary during lunchtime and they’d swing by the water tower?” Wakko reminisced. “Or how Pinky would make us bowls of macaroni and cheese, and Brain would read me my favorite picture books!” He reached into their hat and took out The Very Hungry Caterpillar and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
“Or the times I’d give Pinky makeovers, and how we would pester Brain into taking us to McDonald’s!” Dot added as she eagerly clapped her hands.
“Ah, those were the days!” Wakko blissfully sighed.
“And not only do we get to relive those days again, but we’ll be staying at a luxury hotel! It’ll be like having a weekend-long sleepover!” Dot exclaimed.
“Well sibs, I think it’s best if we start packing!” Yakko declared. The three siblings immediately took out their suitcases and began to pack away their essentials for their weekend vacation.
Yakko put in a dozen pairs of brown slacks into his brown suitcase. Wakko took the refrigerator and stuffed it into their blue suitcase. Dot placed her finest attire into her purple suitcase.
As the Warners continued to pack, they fondly remembered the good times during the original run of Animaniacs. While Yakko, Wakko, and Dot were mostly on their own, there were a handful of adults who spent quality time with them. Bugs Bunny, Slappy Squirrel, and Pinky and The Brain were their usual suspects. Bugs and Slappy usually entertained the kids with stories from the golden age of their careers and gave them helpful advice on thriving in the industry. Pinky and The Brain, however, proved to be a rare exception, since they’re genetically-altered lab mice and not technically toons. Regardless of their status, the mice would usually check in on the kids, make friendly conversation and share gossip, and indulge in their interests. But the mice always made sure to leave before the twilight, since they had to return to the lab and develop their schemes for world domination. And, like Bugs and Slappy, the mice never talked down to them and always treated them with kindness and respect.
The Warners were eager to spend quality time with the mice once again.
-                     -                       -                         -                       -
By the time evening rolled around, the mice returned to Acme Labs. When they arrived in their humble abode in the green cage, Brain decided to take some time to cope with the drastic change in his routine schedule by engaging in his deep breathing exercise. During his moments of self-reflection, Pinky looked on at his partner with loving eyes, proud that he was applying the techniques he learned from therapy through his own volition. The lanky mouse then put on his frilly green apron and scurried outside the cage to make his world-famous no-bake cheesecake for his roommate.
Once Brain completed his mindful exercise, he came to the realization that he can make the most out of the weekend. He would receive some fulfillment from seeing Pinky happy. Additionally, spending time with the Warners would guarantee to bring some excitement to his nearly absent social life, and there was also the possibility that some of their antics could be a source of inspiration for potential plans for world domination. Everybody would win in this situation!
The mouse immediately went over to his tablet and began to conduct his research on the hotel and potential activities to do over the weekend. Finally accepting his role as weekend guardian, he was not going to do a sloppy job with the task he was assigned.
“What common activities do most American families engage in during the weekend?” Brain pondered aloud. “Oh, I know, a trip to the library or an afternoon at the local park,” He muttered as he jotted down his thoughts on notebook paper. Then there were activities that required monetary exchange. Knowing that he would have full access to the company credit card, he was definitely going to have a field day with treating everyone to expensive spending sprees. Trips to the mall if the kids wanted anything in particular. Even splurging on the finest toy clothes that Pinky and himself would love to add to their wardrobes. Brain was also wildly determined to have at least one fancy fine-dining experience over the weekend!
Just as Brain neared completion in devising his plans and contingency plans for the weekend, Pinky arrived, carrying a big plate of cheesecake over to the wooden spool.
“Oh Brain, I made you your favorite!” Pinky called out whilst flirtatiously fluttering his eyes.
The pudgy mouse placed his work aside and eagerly rushed over to the makeshift table, where Pinky finished setting two additional plates and silverware. The lanky mouse gave his roommate a generous slice of cheesecake before taking a smaller portion for himself. Taking a fork, Brain scooped a piece of his cheesecake and ate it. The mouse was in a state of euphoria, savoring the scrumptious dessert. After allowing the cheesecake to melt into his mouth, he swallowed the pastry and let out a contented hum.
“Pinky, your pastries are simply divine!” Brain complimented.
Pinky blushed at the praise he received. “Aw Brain, I’m just happy that you like my cooking. Zort!”
Brain took a napkin and wiped away the crumbs from the sides of his mouth. He decided to engage in some amiable small talk. “So Pinky, are you looking forward to our mini-vacation tomorrow?”
“Oh yes! I’m going to have a fun-fun, silly-willy time watching over the kids!” The lanky mouse cheered. But his grin slowly faded into a worrisome frown. “But Brain, while I was preparing the cheesecake, Jerry the Gerbil dropped by and he told me that the scientists were planning a big, month-long separation experiment starting Saturday!”
“A month-long separation experiment?” Brain repeated with great concern.
Pinky nodded. “He said that the scientists would take some of the rodents that roomed together and place them in different parts of the lab, where they would write about our emotions and stuff!”
“That’s terrible news.” Brain remarked. “And what serendipitous timing…”
“What do you mean, Brain?” Pinky inquired. He was surprised to see his roommate take his hands into his own.
“Since we’ve been tasked to supervise the Warners over the weekend, we needn’t worry about the experiment.” Brain consoled his roommate as he caressed Pinky’s hands. “We would be outside of the lab during the beginning phase of the experiment and by the time we return, the scientists would have already selected the other poor souls residing in the lab as their test subjects, and we would avoid any emotional trauma that would come from participating in the cruel test in its entirety.”
“Oh, that’s a relief!” Pinky sighed.
“So there’s no need to dwell on such things, Pinky.” Brain soothed. “Try to divert all of your energy and attention on preparing for our little trip.”
“Right-o!” Pinky concurred with renewed enthusiasm. The mouse released himself from Brain’s hold and retrieved his floral printed suitcase.
“Now make sure to pack all your essentials,” Brain commanded. “I have a feeling that we are about to have an unforgettable weekend.”
AN: Another quick chapter that’s essentially build-up for what’s to come. When it came to writing Brain’s initial refusal to take the job, I felt like having him freak out over not having control over his regular routine is more in-character to him, plus with the added stakes of the CEO threatening to fire him. So he just swallows his pride and tries to make the most out of the situation.
I also included one of my other headcanons where The Warners had a handful of toon guardians who checked in on them on a regular basis (Pinky and the Brain, Slappy Squirrel, Bugs Bunny) because they’re well aware of how poorly the industry treats people like them and they want to make sure that the kids are okay.
Jerry the Gerbil was actually a reference to the Pinky and The Brain episode ‘The Family That Poits Together, Narfs Together’. We don’t see him at all, but Brain and Pinky reference him. Plus it seemed like the most logical choice to have Pinky get the news of the experiment from another rodent in the lab. And yes, this plot point will come back into play later in the story.
And I also wanted to have a scene where Pinky makes cheesecake for Brain, as a nice little nod to Future Brain (which is easily my favorite segment from the reboot) and I love the idea of Pinky baking food for Brain, and it gave me a great excuse to write some domestic bliss between the two!
And I want to give a special thanks to @themurphyzone for beta reading this chapter!
The next chapter will be considerably longer, so it may take a bit to post it up, but it’s full of fluff and fun bonding scenarios.
Thanks for reading!

The Animaniacs Reboot’s First Ladies song is a complete disappointment.
1. I find it ridiculously hard to memorize, this coming from someone who can sing all of Yakko's World from memory.
2. The sheer disrespect to both Dot and the First Ladies by limiting the time. Yakko and Wakko get all the time they need to sing about the capitals and nations but Dot has a time limit/The Presidents song getting all the time it needs while the First Ladies song has a time limit. Like, ok hi there double standard. I understand that it's the joke, and I think it's actually a funny joke, but it shouldn't have been done with this song. They should have saved it for some other vaguely educational song that no one cares if it gets cut off in the middle by the credits, because no one is really that interested in the topic. Like the Lake Titicaca song. It’s funny, and vaguely educational, but no one actually cares. That’s the sort of song they should have done it with.
3. Why isn’t it in order. Put it in order. I’m starting to think the time limit was so they didn’t have to come up with something interesting each woman did.
4. They forgot Bess Truman.
5. They acknowledged they forgot Bess Truman, but did not list or acknowledge Angelica Van Buren, Martin Van Buren’s First Lady, OR Hannah Van Buren, Martin Van Buren’s wife. Like ok, you’re listing the wives so you’re not going to list Angelica, but then you forget Hannah?
6. They're not- they're not even all First Ladies. First Lady is a specific job, not just the wife of the president. There have been many First Ladies who were the niece, daughter, or daugher-in-law of the President because the President’s wife was dead. For example, Rachel Jackson died several days before the inauguration, so Jackson's First Ladies were his niece Emily Donelson, and then his daughter-in-law Sarah Jackson. Neither of whom are mentioned while Rachel is, despite never being First Lady. I was willing to let them slide with Martha Jefferson, because Thomas Jefferson’s wife (who died) and daughter (who served as First Lady) were both named Martha, but the wiki page with the lyrics links to his wife :/ Also, James Buchanan never married *cough* gay *cough* so his niece Harriet Lane was his first lady. She's not mentioned either.
7. There have been 52 first ladies. Well, 53 because I think you’re supposed to count Frances Cleveland twice. So there were 52 at the time the song was written. Not 45, like Dot claimed. And I have absolutely no idea where they got that number. 42/52 were the wife of the president, so it's not First Ladies married to the president. 44/45 Presidents were married, so it’s not wives of presidents. And both Woodrow Wilson and John Tyler were married twice so that comes out to 46/45 so still no. They really went "oh yeah there are 45 presidents there must have been 45 first ladies lol" like ok but James Buchanan never married, several presidents had wives who died before they took office and didn’t remarry, several remarried after their wives died, and Grover Cleveland married a girl while he was in office that he was legally in charge of as soon as she turned 21 after creeping on her as a child. Anyway, the point is even disregarding all of the sisters, daughters, daughters-in-law, and nieces that served as First Ladies, you can’t come out with 45 and I’m genuinely baffled.
To summarize: If I had any musical talent I would write the First Ladies the song they deserve.

Family & Bonds AU Headcanons
I an dabbling in a couple of AU’s currently. Primarily what I have posted is a Family and Bonds AU titled....Family Bonds. (original. v crafty. wow.) Anyway, lengthy post under the cut.
I shifted the family tree from Bonds in order to accommodate the incredible characters designed by middlewarnersibling in Family to be the Warner trio's parents, and I love that story line for them.
In Bonds, it seemed odd that Bosko would some how not notice his lover's aging or just how she managed to keep all three kids a secret, but I figured, one was totally possible and that one child was Slakko, their father from Family. So it goes like this:
Oswald and Ortensia have a daughter named Odelia.
Odelia has an affair with Bosko Warner
Culminating in middlewarnersibling’s character Slakko Warner. Odelia still never tells Bosko and before the baby arrives, Bosko’s bleeding heart brother, Kokko offers to marry Odelia so the baby at least appears “legit.”
So Kokko becomes the Warner trio’s legal grandfather.
According to Family, Slakko meets Ophelia, a cat toon who sings and dances. They hook up and reluctantly wind up in a shotgun marriage and eventually all three kids are born.
Yakko is approx 5-6 years older than Dot and 3 years older than Wakko, putting him solidly in the middle.
Their birthdays are all in different seasons; I have decided Dot is mid-late June, Wakko is early October and Yakko is January, so their age gap gets all wonky at certain times of the year.
Babs and Buster were actually about 14/15 respectively at the launch of Tiny Toon Adventures which makes them both a couple years Yakko's senior.
I also think it makes for an excellent joke about Yakko always gunning for older women.
(For future reference, yes this makes Buster a solid 7 years older than Dot.)
The rest of the primary Tiny Toons crew is pretty much on par with the exception of Hampton and Dizzy who I headcanon as younger by about a yearish.
(Why yes, Yakko and Dot both have deep seated parental trauma, why do you ask? Wakko does too but it uh....comes out in a different way.)
I headcanon an interesting arch for Slakko which involves something of redemption? In Bonds while Bosko is on the hunt for the Warners he finds this other Warner and decides to see if he has any information. Slakko is living alone in a bit of a shite apartment and mostly keeps to himself and has been ok at staying out of bigger trouble. So when Bosko and his boys arrive at his door he's suspicious and ready to make it a fight if he has to. But there isn't much of a fight; Bosko demands to know where the trio is, Slakko honestly has no idea but Bosko doesn't believe him. The weasels and whomever else Bosko brought as his cronies beat the shit out of him but he holds true to his story.
So Bosko finally believes him. More or less. He doesn't want to have to come back here so he decides to make sure that Slakko can't ever 'see' his children again and has whomever's with him hold him down and burn his eyes with dip. So Slakko's left blinded, injured and probably should be dead but he's not.
Yakko remembers that his folks hardly ever reported an injury or used a hospital unless they absolutely had to. So, close to the end of the show Yakko finds out his father actually used medical services and decides to figure out how to get himself listed as an emergency contact. Not that he intended to ever come to assist but more so that he can make sure to be notified of anything particularly fatal. In Family, he lamented that he never got to say goodbye to their mother and as much as he disagrees with him, Yakko never wants to miss that chance again. So, post Bonds, he ends up finding out about Slakko's sudden blindness and discreetly, not to the knowledge of Slakko or his sibs, decides to help out. Just this once, is Yakko's reasoning.
Um....some cute things I headcanon....
I kept Wakko's diabetes....not cute but like, it's more light hearted than that other stuff tbh
Also not 100% cute: Babs continues to go to therapy to address things like depression and PTSD but it takes some....convincing for Yakko to see someone again. Especially after being made to on the lot. But after a particularly bad night he agrees to give it a shot.
Basically, they coax each other through episodes and have learned to spot when they're each using coping mechanisms in harmful ways and call each other out on it. They make a fantastic team.
They also don’t totally shy away from the conversations with their daughters. They introduce what’s appropriate and with their age gap that can be tricky.
They both also have a very....interesting time being parents early on. Babs is waiting to see if she'll feel what her mother must have felt that made her leave them in a huff and Yakko's struggling to come to terms with the fact that there was nothing wrong with him, his father just never wanted them. Basically they're looking for when another shoe will drop but it won't because they don't just love their kid, they wanted them.
They got to make a choice their parents didn't.
I do have fankids for Babs and Yakko, both girls, both named after powerful women in art and history. Lucille Ophelia and Jacqueline Madeline. (If any of you know the Madeline namesake I will be impressed AF)
Lucille very strictly goes by Lu, call her Lucy and you die (unless you're Wakko. This kid plays favorites and he is it.) and she is a handful of a teenager. Sharp tongued and sharp witted.
Jackqueline, or Jackie, is 5 years younger and is so naive and sweet it hurts and she is Daddy's Girl capital D. Yes, at first they figured she was just masterful at the cuteness game like Dot was but as it turns out, she's got that Wakko style innocence.
Babs jokes that she's clearly actually Wakko's kid. (There is absolutely no possible way for that to be true. Which is why it's funny instead of suspicious.)
They have both watched Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures and just to piss off her dad, Lu says Tiny Toons is her favorite.
Skippy, like Dot, had a dance focus and so, in a few years' time, she's gonna run into him on the set of a music video. That'll be fun!
Babs and Yakko have pissed of more than one director for going off on what appear to be essentially joke tangents but it's actually the two of them attempting to out do each other until there's a clear winner. They are both spotlight hogging, competitive lil shits.
It's Babs' idea for Wakko to try fronting the band he's in and his bandmate get stupidly jealous and steals his girl....oops.
Dot is stupidly beautiful and very much lovable (wow. shocking.) And some poor poor blue bunny is gonna fall face first into a sitcom level affair....and since he can't tell either of his best bros about it he ends up drunkenly calling Babs who just laughs her ass off the whole time.
Yakko can play chess in his head. Like...he doesn't need the board. He can just keep track of the pieces. (Honestly, having to be so damn smart is a complex brought on the physical and verbal abuse from his father.)
Wakko....honestly, as smart as he can be and as righteous as he is, he has that Warner independence streak something bad after touring. He tries a bit much and ends up starting a fight with someone and long story short, he's caught with that twink stuff from Family (unfortunate name tbh basically, think crack.)
Yakko is obviously beside himself and Dot is more or less oblivious as she's at university at this point. Basically, shit hits the fan and the brothers split.
Dot tries to keep in touch with Wakko but he severs the connection from both his sibs.
Wakko does get clean. He also falls in love with a remarkable human toon named Jesse.
He’s also still friends with Foghorn, who is actually a pretty great support in all of this.
I headcanon Wakko as demi homosexual.
Much to her own surprise, Babs LOVES being a mom.
Yakko struggles with partnership. A lot of what goes into being a parent are things he’s already experienced and he has a hard time NOT being a know it all and actually partnering with his wife....it’s a fun dynamic.
Yakko also still has a crush on Max Goof that he SWORE he was over but after seeing him at random very much IS NOT.
It's not just Wakko making horrible choices btw. Sorry this was meant to be the cute stuff....uh....
Both Yakko and Wakko walk with their sister at her wedding (told you things will circle back!)
