Tanielle Rialla: Long War AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A fabulous piece by @cadhla182 of my character Tanielle Rialla from the so-called 'Long War' AU--in which the Sha'tari campaign against the Outland Legion failed and resulted in the invasion of Azeroth a decade earlier than the one we saw in WoW:Legion.
This had a LOT of knock-on effects, not least that it meant that the forces of good were badly overwhelmed(Fighting the Legion, the Scourge, and the Twilight Hammer at the same time, for example), or that the Illidari weren't put in a box after the assault on the Black Temple--because there was no assault on the Black Temple...but perhaps the best illustration of how brutal the so-called 'Long War' got(they only won in late 40 ADP, about the same time as the main story was finishin Dragonflight) is that the forest she's standing in in that first image isn't Felwood...it's Quel'Thalas.

Cosmic Forces / Magical Arts
You might not believe me, but I really meant--last post--to do what I'll be setting out to do in this post.
Establishing the great cosmic forces--and subsequently, magical arts derived from them--in the universe that is WarCraft. I did mention them, briefly:
Light, Void; Life, Death; Order, Disorder.
Predictably as fuck, Blizzard attaches morality to these. Very quickly. In fact, the morality they use is present in all their games--even if they tease you with little tidbits about how there MIGHT be a little nuance present.
I won't insult you with describing these moralities, but I will offer you the honor of not being forced into a corner. These moralities? We're throwing them out.
We ARE, however, going to keep the descriptions given to the forms of magic derived from these cosmic forces. Not for the implication of what is good or what is evil, but because I'm an edge-lord who loves calling myself a master of unholy arts--and I'm sure there are plenty who would do the same, without strictly proclaiming themselves to be bitches.
LIGHT : Holy Magic VOID : Shadow Magic
LIFE : Nature Magic DEATH : Death Magic (Although they call it Necromancy)
ORDER : Domination Magic (Although they call it Arcane) DISORDER: Eldritch Magic (Although they call it Fel)
Now, the wiki speaks of how there is a...suspected...m y s t e r i o u s seventh cosmic power. The ULTIMATE COSMIC POWER, stronger and harder and longer than all the others!
Before I unveil their version, and my version, of the seventh cosmic power--I would like to point out that each of these energies are supposed to originate upon a plane of existence unique to them. So whatever in the cosmic funky-fuck could there be that is greater and more phenomenally phenomenal than those six?!
Well, they say math.
I say fuck that.
They've already given us a seventh cosmic force, from the very fucking beginning! It has its own planes and everything! But, just like the tragedy of the Draenei accidentally getting retconned because they forgot the Eredar existed... They've once again proven that drinking or smoking is the only thing their people do.
What is it?
E l e m e n t s.
Elemental Magic.
Elemental Planes--Fire, Air, Water, Earth.
Now, you might also be asking where "Spirit" magic falls. And I say that's a good point. So let's make some corrections up above, shall we?
ELEMENTAL MAGIC
🜍 ORDER : Domination Magic, from the plane of the "Celestial Aether." Also sometimes called Holy Magic, by priests.
🜁 AIR : Aeromancy, from the plane of "Skywall." 🜂 FIRE : Pyromancy, from the plane of "Firelands." ✡ LIFE / DEATH : Spirit Magic, from the Mortal Plane. 🜄 WATER : Hydromancy, from the plane of "Abyssal Maw." 🜃 EARTH : Geomancy, from the plane of "Deepholm."
🜏 DISORDER : Shadow Magic, from the plane of the "Twisting Nether." Also sometimes called Unholy Magic, by priests.
ARCANE MAGIC
Now...you'll probably notice something's missing here. "Arcane" magic. Well, I've redefined that. See, most elements have a capacity to combine--and it's what one does with them that defines them as moral or immoral; which, in further elaboration, is a state imposed by societies and cultures and religions...not the magic itself.
So where does Arcane magic come in?
Well, in examining the things attributed to Arcane magic in the setting--I've concluded it's the blending of either ORDER or DISORDER (Chaos) with the natural behaviors of things present in the universe. For example, there's a quote in the wiki in which Medivh--espoused as sorcerer supreme--reveals that the difference between elemental fire and fire conjured by a practitioner of magic...is that the exertion of mana upon heat in the air produced a flame.
Arcane Magic is the use of Order or Chaos to modify and/or affect the natural energies of a plane. Those natural energies are...
Kinetic Energy, the Power of Motion
Spectric Energy, the Power of Light
Thermic Energy, the Power of Heat
Gravic Energy, the Power of Gravity
Organic Energy, the Power of Flesh
Sonic Energy, the Power of Sound
Magnetic Energy, the Power of Magnetism
Chemic Energy, the Power of Chemistry
Radic Energy, the Power of Radiation (Decay, to the uninformed.)
Psychic Energy, the Power of Thought
Chronic Energy, the Power of Time
Ambic Energy, the Power of Space
Schools of Magic / Elemental Synergy
I mentioned combining elements. Yes, that's how you get the varying schools of magic. Let's examine those.
Going forward, however, allow me to introduce a few terms for your vocabulary--terms I'll be using in the rewrites. Noble Elements, Primal Elements, and Basic Elements or Synergic Elements.
--Noble Elements - These are elements which cannot quite exist in a pure form within the universe, at least outside of their respective planes; Order, Spirit, and Disorder. Note, now, however...that because living things originate upon the Mortal Plane--which is also the elemental plane of spirit--pure Spirit will be perceptible to characters within the story, and referred to as Mana.
--Primal Elements - These are elements which do not really have a...mental compatibility with mortal minds; Fire, Air, Earth, and Water.
--Basic Elements - Refer to any of these seven elements which are uncombined.
--Synergic or Alloy Elements - These are the results of two basic elements joining to create something which is and is not Primal nor Noble.
Schools of Primal Magic Known collectively as...Elementalist Magic.
We have our basics, and then we have our alloys. The mastery of two forms of elemental magic allows one to get into the practice of a combined form--we know this ought to exist in the setting, because we have seen elementals formed of combined energies. Here's our list:
Basics: --Fire (Pyro Magia) --Water (Hydro Magia) --Earth (Geo Magia) --Air (Aero Magia)
Dual Alloy Elements: --Sand; Air/Earth (Ammo Magia) --Ice; Air/Water (Cryo Magia) --Lightning; Air/Fire (Electro Magia) --Mud; Earth/Water (Laspi Magia) --Lava; Earth/Fire (Lava Magia) --Steam; Water/Fire (Atmos Magia)
Triumvirate Alloy Elements: --Azoth; Air/Earth/Water (Ermis Magia) --Acid; Air/Water/Fire (Oxy Magia) --Brimstone; Air/Earth/Fire (Theio Magia) --Crystal; Earth/Fire/Water (Litho Magia)
"Complete" Elemental Alloy: --Star / Plasma; Air/Earth/Water/Fire (Astra Magia)
Schools of Noble Magic Known collectively as...Spirit Magic.
We next address the schools of magic as derived of the noble elements, which--in the esteem they are held to by scholars, priests, and the like...are not actually ever really referred to as elements; but as godly and divine forces.
The mage, often scorned for their viewpoints, finds no real difference to exist between the noble elements and the primal elements--and this is why mages tend to prefer a degree of isolation from the greater majority of the world. This can be called the conflict of intellectualism vs spirituality, which is a highly popular writing angle not often touched upon by Blizzard. For obvious reasons.
We'll get to those in the Americanism section of those massive post.
For now:
Basics: --Spirit Magic; the Power of Communion On its own, Spirit Magic is a system which permits communication with the energies of living things and nonliving things--which, due to the nature of the elemental planes, do have their own sense of soul. --Domination Magic; the Power of Control Most invaluable to those who partake the practice of summoning, the power of control primarily exploits binding and commanding. --Shadow Magic; the Power of Warp Perceived to be monstrous, for the ways it changes what it is infused with; the power of warp is the power of change--it alters and reforges the things it touches, typically in a nightmarish manner.
Alloys: --Life Magic; Domination/Spirit Also called nature magic by some, though this will very quickly piss off any priests "of the light" by insinuating in any way that sentient creatures are not somehow superior to nature--despite the very same principles having application. --Death Magic; Shadow/Spirit Also called necromancy. This is the power of warping the spirit and commanding death. It's largely considered abominable. --Arcane Magic; Noble Elements + Primal Elements This is covered above, already, in the Arcane Magic section.
The Americanism
Now, you might be thinking that I've left something out here. Or, rather, a fair few somethings out. Let's first address the most glaring, American thing about Blizzard's version of these magical powers: their principles are all very Baptist.
I would've said "Christian," but anyone who has spent any amount of time in the US can immediately determine that this country has a very warped form of Christianity--which places most focus on trying to utilize it as a form of hate and control rather than as a religion, willfully and blasphemously eschewing their holy book's lessons in favor of made-up shit that justifies spewing hate, abuse, and frankly awful things.
Fire is actually kind of an important thing, for example, in many forms of Christianity. Considered holy, even.
Here, it's just associated with evil--and in fact, the Firelands are considered basically an evil dimension. Light is, of course, the most important and wonderful and holy and correct of all elements--and anything the "Light" says is wrong, is evil and awful and horrible. Blizzard establishes this as an objective morality.
Keep that in mind, going forward, because it's going to come up...A LOT. You literally cannot have Americanism without this utterly awful corruption of religion as the underlying motivator for everything. Chiefly...that you cannot question it, as that would simply be heresy. You're not allowed to understand anything--because that would be going against faith.
But faith sounds an awful lot like totalitarian obedience whenever the WASPs talk about it.
Now let's get to the..."missing" schools of magic.
Druidism. Voodoo. Shamanism.
So, I have a massive fucking problem with the use of these three things as...schools of magic. Why? Because they're religions, they're not toys.
Using them is exactly the same as something like "Quickly, Medivh--use your Jewry to destroy the orcs!"
This becomes a lot more awful when you realize that those three "schools of magic" come from what Blizzard portrays as rather...primitive cultures. As if any form of religion besides the obligatory pseudo-Christian is primitive, backwards, or uncivilized.
Worse...is the way Voodoo is treated and portrayed. As is typical of absolutely any form of faith practiced by persons of remotely African flavor (although, to most WASPs, basically anything that any person of color does--Shamanism and Druidism appear in ancient European traditions, to an extent)...it is immediately regarded as an evil thing. It takes control of your mind maaaaan, and it's got a funky beat involved! Here come the afro demons! Aaaaah--hide yo womens!
Fuck you.
Fuck that.
Fuck Blizzard.

AU where Alleria Windrunner, known to be open to using self-destructive forces to fight evil, becomes the first Fel "Blood" Elf.
How would this happen? Well ya see, in my favorite scene in Beyond the Dark Portal, Alleria hunts and kills an orc or five, and she kills at least one in splatter distance. She ends up with orc blood on her hands, and she almost licks it off her hands, but stops herself before she does.
Now, obviously, blood from a green orc is not going to be as corruptive as the blood of Mannoroth. But Fel magic is incredibly addictive. Like, in drug terms, it's like crystal meth. So she just has cravings off on and on, getting a buzz after every fight, with this growing shame surrounding her. Then she captures an orc and tortures them for information, and once she's done with him, she hangs him upside down and slits his throat. That much blood calls to the Fel energy inside her already, and she can't stop herself.
The rush is incredible, and the power moreso. And she wants more. Then the dreams start. Her brother comes to her in her dreams, begging her to avenge him. Sending her visions of some warlock on Draenor as if he were somehow responsible for her brother's death.
So she finds the warlock and drains him the same way. The visions don't stop, though. Instead, "Lirath" sends her new powers.
From there, it's all downhill. She would likely either have to be killed by Turalyon, or she would join the Legion at the end of BtDP.

Prompt Fic: Rose Tinted Memories
Doing some writing practice with ficlets some prompts from this list.
AO3 Version can be found here.
“Thank you for agreeing to help.”
 -o-o-o-o-o-
“Thank you for agreeing to help.” Khadgar said, his voice was barely above a whisper. He could barely believe that his former master was standing at his side. That they would face Sargeras and the Legion together.
Fear rolled around in the Archmage’s stomach. Fear of failure, but also fear that this moment was just a dream. That, with a blink, Medivh wouldn’t be there and Khadgar would find himself alone.
Alone. Such a simple word that held so much weight and terror for Khadgar. He had been alone before, many times. He had lost so much, so many people over the years. One would think that he’d have gotten used to it, numb to it. But it still hurt now, just as much as it did when he plunged a dagger into Medivh’s chest all those years ago.
Medivh blinked. Khadgar’s words caught him a little off guard. He had been enjoying the relative silence with his former apprentice as they looked out at Azaroth from the Vindicaar. He had been so enamored with the breathtaking view of their world that he almost missed Khadgar’s words entirely.
Medivh had originally planned to leave after the defeat of Viz’aduum in the upper reaches of his tower home. He was ready to do it but that look Khadgar gave as he asked him to stay. Seeing him standing there, having come so far but still being the Young Trust, he knew under it all. Medivh’s feet were suddenly lead. He couldn’t bring himself to leave.
“I’m not sure how useful I’ll be. Your friend Turalyon says I’m a potential threat. He’s probably not wrong.” Medivh admitted.
The mention of Turalyon and the fight Khadgar had with him over Medivh made his stomach twist. His hold on Atiesh tightened a little, as they had thrown harsh words back and forth between them.
Lately, it had seemed like the universe had been giving some things back to Khadgar. Alleria and Turalyon were here. He had friends in his champions; he had Medivh back, of all things. Yet, everything was still ‘off’. Alleria and Turalyon, he cared about dearly, were very different from when they last saw each other. Both changed by void and light. Turalyon was much harsher, even allowing for his wife to be locked up by Xe’ra. Alleria was wrapped in the embrace of the void. She was colder, more venomous. Khadgar found himself worrying about her, for her sanity. She always had a mean streak. He remembered the times he used to butt heads with Alleria in the past. But this was different. This was much more dangerous.
Khadgar quietly mourned his friends all over again. That small part of himself that hoped against all hope that they’d be together again finally died. Khadgar had to wonder if the fond memories he had of them were truly real. Being there in their presence, listening to them as they spoke, memories bubbled up. Both the good and bad. Every argument he had with Alleria, his crush on Turalyon, and the pained disappointment when they became a pair. Khadgar still loved them, he still cared about them, but the three of them were more flawed than he cared to admit. He held on to his rose-tinted memories to help him get through the toughest times.
Now, that was all peeled away. Khadgar found his ironclad resolve start to waver.
“I’ve been living as a hermit for a long time.” Medivh spoke up, breaking Khadgar away from his thoughts. “Going out now and then for supplies, doing tasks for people in Darkshire. I would tell myself that it was a self-imposed punishment.” Medivh gave Khadgar a moment to let it all sink in. “I wanted to see you when I heard you had returned from Draenor…Or, ‘Outland’, as it’s known now. I even traveled all the way to Dalaran…”
The memory of that day was still fresh in Medivh’s mind. The feel of his hammering heart as he walked the streets of the mage city. The goosebumps that rose from his skin as he feared recognition, even with how unlikely it was. Disguise aside, his time was a good number of years ago. It was highly unlikely any civilian would have realized who he was, let alone a young student. Still, there may have been someone out there that could. The anxiety only grew with gradual over stimulation of everything Dalaran, from the magic flaunted about the markets to the crowds of civilians, students, and adventurers crept up on him.
It all boiled over, the moment he caught sight of Khadgar. He was being shown around the city by some eager students. He looked far older then, having a beard that went down to his knees. His hair was all grey, save for a thick streak of pure, bright white that Medivh recognized as Khadgar's signature Mullen stripe. It was him. It really was Khadgar, there and alive. Medivh's feet moved on their own, marching towards him. It took a minute for his mind to catch up with his body's actions. One of the students noticed him, eyeing him, and suddenly it all became too much. Medivh ducked into an alleyway before Khadgar could turn around to see him.
He couldn't do it. Medivh couldn't face him. So he fled.
“Honestly, I was just hiding from the world, and the repercussions of my crimes.” Medivh admitted to himself more than anything. It was a truth that needed to be said, that he needed to accept. “I separated my study from the rest of the tower, never realizing what was happening within it. That Moroes and my friends are still there, cursed and having to put up with demons and adventurers. Even now, I’m terrified of facing Sargeras, of the idea that he might…that I might…” Medivh didn’t finish. He looked down at one of his hands and found it trembling. Turalyon had raised the idea that Sargeras might try to use Medivh against them. As much as the magus didn’t want to admit it, it was a very real possibility. “I’m just a coward, Khadgar.”
“Then why did you stay?” Khadgar asked. There was no accusation in his voice.
Medivh slowly closed his trembling hand into a fist. “...I...don’t know. I was going to leave, but I couldn’t.”
“I’d like to think that if there’s one thing I understand, it’s you, Medivh.” Khadgar said with a weary smile. “You were never the type to simply do as you were told. Even back then, you fought Sargeras’ control as much as you could. I’m sure I would have been a pile of ashes if you hadn’t.” Khadgar’s smile grew more fond, he blinked and Medivh could see his eyes had begun to tear up. “I think the two of us standing here, together again, is proof of that.”
Medivh felt his face heat up. He broke eye contact with Khadgar and returned his gaze to Azaroth. “It was because you asked me to, Khadgar. I saw you there and for a moment, I saw that awkward lad the Kirin Tor threw at me.” Medivh felt his own eyes sting as it was their turn to tear up. “You’ve changed so much but you’re still ‘Young Trust’. You wanted me here and I couldn’t bring myself to say ‘no’ to you.”
Khadgar couldn’t help the blush that creeped its way into his face. He chewed lightly on his lower lip as he tried to pick out the words he wished to say.
“I’m afraid too, Medivh.” Khadgar admitted. “I’ve made so many mistakes as a leader and poor choices as a person. We’re both flawed and damaged people. But I can’t deny that I feel braver with you here, with me.” Khadgar took a chance, reached over, and took Medivh’s hand into his own. He threaded their fingers together. When Medivh gently squeezed back, he felt his heart flutter. “I don’t just want to defeat Sargeras, I want to come out of this alive with you.”
Medivh couldn’t help but smile a little. “I…wouldn’t mind leaving the tower more after this. Maybe…we could…? Ah…I…”
“I’d love to show you around Dalaran.” Khadgar said. “I know you never liked it, but there are excellent places to eat. There’s also a very famous bookshop there that has more of those steamy romance novels…”
“Dear light, you saw all of those?!” Medivh laughed halfway through the sentence.
“I’ve always known about your smut collection. I had to organize those too back when I was cleaning your library.”
Medivh’s face grew so hot, so fast that he felt a little lightheaded. His free hand rose up to cover his face. Laughter bubbled up from his chest and broke free. It was light, warm, and almost melodic. It brought a warmth to the room that Khadgar knew so well. At that moment, Medivh was lighter, more vibrant.
“Excuse me…” a familiar drawling voice spoke. Moroes had arrived, with broom and dustpan in hand. The ever loyal steward refused to let Khadgar and Medivh go off without him. Surprising them both in his ability to leave Karazhan’s tower. Moroes gestured both magi to step aside as he began to sweep up what Khadgar noticed were small, golden crystalline shards. “Honestly, you’d think people around here would know to sweep up random bits of glass. If this junk gets into their hooves, it’ll cause them all sorts of problems.”
Medivh’s brow furrowed as he stared at the collection of shards that were in Moroes’ dustpan. “Huh, so that’s what that occasional ‘crunch’ under my boots was…”
“Um, that’s…Khadgar paled as he realized quickly what Moroes was sweeping up. “...That’s not glass.”
Medivh looked to Khadgar, and then the realization hit him. “Oh, that’s the naru your moody purple friend blew up, isn’t it?”
“Y-yep…” Khadgar could hear tiny, disjointed tones coming from the shards.
“I don’t care what it is!” Moroes huffed. “It’s a mess, and it’s everywhere! Do your mage thing and help me clean.”
“Magic!? Oh no, I couldn’t! I’d never!” Medivh said as an impish smile spread across his face. “I seem to remember a certain someone telling me that magic didn’t belong with cleaning. That all you need is good old-fashioned elbow grease and--”
“Medivh.” Moroes’ voice was firm. He crossed his arms and gave the magus a firm look. “Enough of your sass or I’ll box you on your ears.”
“Yes, yes, Mother Hen…” Medivh said, his smile turning warmer. He had very much missed Moroes and was thankful to have him back. He raised both of his hands into the air and his fingers gave a loud, sharp ‘snap’.
Arcane crackled as mana flowed from Medivh and swirled in the air before shaping itself into multiple brooms. They floated off and went about sweeping and cleaning around the Vindicaar.
Khadgar would take whatever levity he could get. Being there with Moroes and Medivh was grounding. Something he needed for the trials to come, for when they finally faced Sargeras.
They would defeat him and get out of it alive, together. Khadgar didn’t need to hold on to rose-tinted memories to push him forward. There was so much to look forward to in the future.
 -The End-

Let us enjoy these fleeting moments in time, for we know not what sorrow the future holds.
as promised some sappy sylvaina (on the brink of disaster)
it took me a while to figure out dalaran apprentice jaina but i hope i captured that wide-eyed idealism and sense of hope/optimism. and sylvanas is just some very important elf with some thousand years under her belt give or take who fell in love with a human. i mean who can blame her when jaina looks that cute

2014-2017 WoW lore is so funny because it would be someone saying something like "DNI if you think any of this character's actions were justified. I am NOT arguing about this anymore, you all make me sick." so you google the character and open images and you just get this

I made 2 things canon in my universe today...
The first is that Jaina loves to plop herself in Sylvanas' lap via blink or portal, and Sylvanas definitely enjoys it (A Recurring theme hngggg >\\\\<)
The second is that Sylvanas accidentally dies at the hands of our very own Archmage (A freshly mana bomb charged archmage is a deadly partner in bed apparently xDDD)
UPDATE:
Tumblr media
Yisss you are correct and with the addition of Jaina overwhelming Sylvanas' whole being with her mana. (since Jaina was still "freshly bombed" xD)... so yep, death by orgasm xD

Ere-a
/eldritch giggling, "Ere-a."
Ahem, anyway; welcome! I hate Blizzard. You can call me Biki. Why do I hate Blizzard?
Because I grew up with it.
In the era before eras, of my life, my earliest memories include watching my father playing WarCraft. The first WarCraft. Orcs vs Humans. And Doom. It was a much simpler time (to me), and a much simpler game; with a far simpler premise: angry green dudes with axes exist, and there are humans--and they're fighting.
I didn't even know why.
Don't reckon I cared. It was cool. And, when I wasn't being bullied at school--I was probably trying to play games.
I only started to really...care...or follow any sort of storyline, when we went out to CompUSA and tried to buy us a copy of Orcs vs Humans--but we found, instead, that WarCraft II had come out.
Now that was a beautiful game. And I liked playing the orcs.
Tides of Darkness had more of a storyline to it, at least to my developing brain, and while I still couldn't quite understand why they were fighting at all--aside from just, the simple truth of being "they're enemies."
Good enough for me!
The bullying never stopped, so I took eventually to writing. Mostly about getting a girlfriend, because strangely--even as a toddler, I was obsessed with eventually having some sort of partner. Anyway, thirty years later--I know a couple a things about good writing.
And...
Blizzard apparently doesn't seem to. At least, not anymore.
WarCraft, most of all, my most beloved and earliest of...uh...friends, is an absolute f u c k i n g mess compared to what I used to understand about it.
I'm not sure its most die-hard fans even think it's original, but that's far from WarCraft's...biggest...eh...issues. I'll be endeavoring to reshape it to a more cohesive, less problematic entity--in the form of a...personal alternate universe.
I've identified WarCraft's three biggest issues; the first of which is already named above: mind-blowingly unoriginal ideas.
2nd; everything is so painfully "white boy" that I'm surprised there aren't confederate flags all over the place--though they do that in Starcraft.
3rd; at almost every single possible opportunity, the setting absolutely fucking L O V E S to rip agency away from its own characters--to the point where I find myself unable to hate characters when they do absurd things, because few of them ever stood a chance of being characters instead of plot points or mouth pieces to begin with.
Understand, going forward, that I'm not writing any of this as some sort of insistence that others agree with me--nor that any other personal re-imagining is invalidated; it's just that I have noticed some...troublesome trends slipped into the works--and if you know anything about the corporate history of Blizzard, you probably won't be surprised by any of it.
Ultimately, what I miss the most about the series...is the innocence I had when I first got into it. Since I will never be innocent again, unscarred and unthreatened by the world I live in, this is my repose.
I hope you'll like here. And fuck you, Blizzard.

In my AU, one of the major aesthetic tweaks I make to the kaldorei is remove a lot of the metal in their armor and replace it with leather, fur, and cloth. They still use metal of course, but for a people who cares so much about and is presumably very knowledgeable about the environment, they'd know mining all that metal is super unsustainable and damaging. Also leather and fur and cloth is easier to move and sneak around in.
With that said, I wanted to do a bit of a redesign for Maiev Shadowsong my beloved. I didn't want to touch her overall silhouette, because that shit is Iconic As Hell, but I replaced the heavy plate with more flexible samurai-type armor. There's already some Japanese/Korean/general SE Asian aesthetic influence in canon, so I wanted to draw on that. Not so much the (fantastical) Viking aesthetic I usually lean into, but I threw some of that in as well (e.g. the winnigas wrapping on her legs).
Tumblr media
This isn't a "final draft" of her redesign, moreso a proof-of-concept for myself. So there'll be changes, as with all character designs lol
