Wasted is finally out everywhere!!! If u love Ethel Cain (you do) you’ll love this one.
Spite is one of the strongest artistic generators there is. The bus stop I wait at after work is across the street from frat houses that are always loudly blasting classic rock and middle aged white man songs, which is fine, but there is absolutely no way the boys playing the music thought to like those songs for themselves. It’s giving “these are my dad’s favorite songs and I’ve never had to think for myself”. I wanted to write a mindlessly happy song for a change and thought that the perspective of, like, the worst person ever would be a perfect vehicle to do so. It was a ton of fun to write and came together very quickly, probably because it’s so easy to be awful. Just imagine a Straight Guy in a jacked up truck speeding down the freeway to a job that was chosen for him, or to golf for business purposes, to “invest”, to yell at women, or to bother drag queens. …This one’s for him <3

I’m glad that pop-punk is still being explored by today’s [commercial] musicians. Willow [Smith] seems to have an incredible range of genres that her music touches upon. This piece is such a classic pop-punk tune, it feels really comforting. I liked Avril Lavigne back in the day, so it’s really sweet that they collaborated for this.
Best part? All the plaid. I’m biased, but I really love the wardrobe in this video.
CONCERT REVIEW: MACHINE GUN KELLY W/ AVRIL LAVIGNE AND WILLOW AT ROGERS ARENA - JULY 23RD, 2022
Golden light poured over industrial structures in the heart of Downtown Vancouver. On an event-filled Saturday evening, concertgoers at Rogers Arena experienced an exquisite indie punk rock performance from WILLOW, who joined Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly on the latter’s Mainstream Sellout tour.
WILLOW always maintains a balance between ethereal vocals and striking instrumentals. Whether she cranks out indie-pop hits or forays into punk rock, WILLOW’s art always feels new, fascinating, magnetic–and genuine. To hold such an authentic appeal whilst landing multiple viral hits on TikTok is no easy feat.
A massive white tarp hung behind the stage with a symbol etched in sharp black marker. The symbol, contained within a circle, housed a symmetrical floral design. In the foreground, a giant “W” cleverly enclosed the remaining letters of the singer’s name. Carved silver trash cans lined the stage, luminous light shining from inside.
WILLOW was accompanied by a full-fledged rock band: steely electric guitars, deep bass, and fierce drums. She dispersed her setlist, drawing from albums lately I feel EVERYTHING, ARDIPITHECUS, and THE ANXIETY.
“I knew a boy just like you / He’s a snake just like you / Such a fake, just like you / But I can see the truth.”
WILLOW’s vocals were light, full, and powerful. Beautiful vibrato circulated throughout the arena: a venue known for being sonically difficult to master. The performance was full of wonderful contrasts and passionate lyrical stings. WILLOW moved loosely and with poise across the stage. A rainbow knitted beanie bounced around on her head and played off nicely with the black t-shirt and pants adorned with warm colourful patches.
“I really love this next song cause it’s very ugly out here on earth–but sometimes it can be kinda really, really beautiful,” said WILLOW before launching into “Lipstick.” Booming vocals cascaded and harmonized over shredded guitar and heavy drums. “And I’m looking at pain like my old close friend / Open arms for her when I see her again.”
The pace simmered with “Come Home,” a pristine pleading for love. “I’m tired of this feeling, I feel so alone / I need you right now, baby / won’t you come home?” WILLOW’s nuanced melodies and radiant runs weaving into a dramatic chorus.
“It’s kinda cliche,” said WILLOW leading into the song, her soft and kind tone putting the crowd at ease. “But the next song is about being in love.”
“I know we all kinda like being in love, right? Some of us maybe hate it…”
“Meet Me At Our Spot” brought trendy timelessness. The audience erupted in excitement after the first few beat drops and started bobbing along with WILLOW’s heartfelt vocals. “Caught a vibe / Baby, are you coming for the ride? / I just wanna look into your eyes / I just wanna stay for the night.”
Wavy guitars paved a scenic detour away from punk rock with “Wait a Minute!” – WILLOW’s dynamic vocals adding a bold flair compared to the studio recording. “Hold on, wait a minute / Feel my heart’s intention, oh / Hold on, wait a minute / I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension.” To end off the beachy psychedelic rock tone, WILLOW strapped on an electric guitar and played a rich solo melody.
“<maybe> it’s my fault” was a strong end to a captivating performance. Luscious, soft vocals blended into enthusiastic electric strums during the verses, while tension built with a thundering tempo change during the chorus of the track. Screamo vocals cut an intense, cathartic edge.
“It’s all on my mind, it’s all on my mind / I try to rewind / And all of the while / I’m hurting inside / It’s your fault / Maybe it’s my fault.”
Up next, Avril Lavigne. An icon in the punk rock world and Canadian music scene. Lavigne played classics like “Girlfriend,” “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi,” and “I’m with You.” She also played some tracks off her new album, including “Bite Me” and “Love It When You Hate Me.” Lavigne was energetic and joyous, soaking in the audience’s adoration who knew much of the words to the songs she played.
Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) took the stage from a life-size pink helicopter attached to the arena’s ceiling. He played through most of Mainstream Sellout, including “born with horns,” “god save me,” “make up sex,” “emo girl,” and “die in california.” He also played some tracks off Tickets To My Downfall, including “kiss kiss,” “drunk face,” “bloody valentine,” and “my ex’s best friend.” MGK even performed “el Diablo,” a track from his rap days.
MGK’s stage was a giant optical illusion. A “slanted” checkered circle platformed the band. He wore a glittery tank top and pants with his pastel pink hair. His performance was vibrant and lively. MGK seemed comfortable with the crowd, complimenting the city’s water, donning a purple Vancouver Canucks Hockey Fights Cancer jersey, and walking through the floor crowd during multiple songs. The Mainstream Sellout tour revolved around defeating the internet, which was personified as a giant human figure with a television on its head.
MGK was charismatic and lively, clearly bringing out all the stops for the tour. It was impressive to see old and new guards of punk rock come together for a nostalgic and unique event. Fresh, skilled sounds collided with extraordinary spectacles in a jam-packed concert.

I'm not necessarily a punk gatekeeper like idrc abt "sell out" accusations bc tbh I like when artists I like get paid and expand their audiences and I'm a green day fan so yk but even at their most sell out they were putting out shit like american idiot so it's not like they weren't still politically punk. And I don't even think you can't necessarily be privileged and still make good punk music (again, go listen to willow smith's recent stuff both her solo albums and as the anxiety it's great) but as a huge fan of the baltimore and dc hxc scene it's just like ok. So what's the point? Punk sounds like garbage to people who don't like it because punks cared more about getting their message across than making shit that might get radio airplay. They were fucking angry about the state of things and they made music for people who were also angry about it, and so often there was no crossover appeal. Remember when bad brains got fucking banned from dc bc their shows went so hard? If you want to make music with a punk-sounding influence that isn't necessarily political that's fine, that's how we got pop punk and the alt scene, all those "I hate my town" bands, the blink 182s and avril lavignes of the world, but there's a reason it's called pop punk and not just punk. Avril wasn't called the punk princess ever bc people knew that'd sound fucking ridiculous. She was the pop punk princess. I'm not saying that punk songs and bands can't become mainstream or popular, green day won fucking grammies, the clash and the sex pistols etc all got their big paydays. Which is why the hxc (and other early punk subgroups like riot grrrl etc) scene erupted at all; they felt like the big punk names weren't going hard enough anymore, and in a lot of ways they were right but that's sort of the nature of music, eventually audiences get bored or radio stations and studio execs want to discover the new big thing and then what was outsider music becomes mainstream and then those outsider fans decide those bands have sold out and look for something still outside/something harder which won't so easily be sold to the general public, rinse repeat. But I AM saying that if you're going to try to call your music punk, I better see you in the fucking pit.
Earlier, I made a post about Rahuvian Fashion & Style and this is part 2 of that. Rahu influence makes a native drawn to very flashy, loud, colourful style. Obviously, how we channel our style depends on many different aspects and most people probably have a style that is an amalgamation of several different influences. But looking at Rahu influence in isolation, I have noticed that it makes its natives favour a mix-match-y, eclectic, bold style. Rahu & Ketu are opposites even though they're both shadow planets. They're the head and the torso respectively. Rahu favours a very hyper & loud style but Ketu is the opposite and I've noticed Ketuvians preferring to wear all black, or darker colors in general and have a super nondescript style. Ex: Jungkook, Magha Moon & Mula Rising who pretty much exclusively wears black and has a relatively simple style.
Hongjoong- Ardra Moon
A major feature of Rahuvian style is how these natives like to pair seemingly random elements together. Y2K style is very Rahuvian for this reason.
2. G-Dragon- Venus in Ardra
Another aspect is how the style is ever shifting, there is a broad eclectic preference but each outfit is completely different from the other.
3. RM- Venus in Swati
4. Ranveer Singh, Ardra Sun, Shatabhisha Moon
5. Avril Lavigne, Swati Moon & Venus
Even when they're not very "colorful" Rahuvian outfits are still loud and attention grabbing, this is because Rahu is the head and representing maya and material aspirations, so one seeks to completely immerse oneself in that energy
6. Grace Jones, Venus in Ardra
Rahu influence is very prominent in the charts of many pop-stars and entertainers because Rahu loves to be the centre of attention and feels comfortable being on stage/being looked at by many people because they can pull light from as many different sources. Rahu is in darkness and being the centre of attention means they can pull light from that many people. Rahuvians often struggle with "feeling real" and this can manifest in many ways, esp in relationships but one reason they're so drawn to fame is because being perceived by that many people helps them feel more grounded, although this does have other consequences as well. A lot of other planetary influences would prefer to not be at the receiving end of that much attention or feel uncomfortable about it but not Rahu.
12. Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garcon has Swati Moon and Ketu in Shatabhisha (Ketu is where we draw creative inspiration from as it is the lowest point)
13. Alessandro Michele, former creative director of Gucci has Venus & Mars in Swati
14. Ariana Grande, Ardra Sun
15. Victoria Beckham, Venus conjunct Jupiter in Shatabhisha and Ardra Rising
Hc for the voices might boy's like + examples if u want
Thanks for your request, anon!!
This one was quite challenging. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to do it, so I decided to use singers to represent the voices. I loved the idea btw
I only did S+M bc Tumblr doesn't let me use more than 10 audios
Sorry for taking too long to answer. I was doing some research for this. I don't think it got perfect though... but I did my best!
Hope u like it!! ♡
Voices that the diaboys would like
Shu
Shu doesn't like people who talk too loud or have high-pitched voices, so people with lower tones are less annoying to him.
Clarissa is a Brazilian singer. Her voice is so comfortable to hear
I think Shu would like a voice similar to hers. It's not annoying, as her tone isn't squeaky or high-pitched.
Reiji
Mitski voice would be ideal for him. Her voice is charming and full of emotion.
(REIJI DEFINETLY LISTENS TO MITSKI)
Ayato
This one is probably the hardest. I see Ayato enjoying the pop-rock singers' voices. I don't know how to explainn, but he'd like Avril Lavigne's voice. He passes this vibe.
Kanato
Kanato doesn't even like anyone talking, he threatens to sew Yui's mouth 💀
But in an ideal world where he doesn't threaten anyone, he would be really picky. It's canon that Kanato sings well, he would probably tell the bride to stfu if she doesn't have a pretty voice.
I judge this as a basic and safe choice, but Melanie Martinez's voice would be his liking.
(Geez, this is too basic)
Laito
Laito loves all kinds of voice tbh. I don't think he's picky about this kind of stuff. Perhaps maybe a sensual voice would be his cup of tea.
I thought of Lana Del Rey for this. Her voice is so enchanting, I'm sure he'd like .
Subaru
Subaru enjoys soothing voices. Sweet voices bring him comfort and break him on the spot.
I think IU's voice would be ideal for him. Her voice is sweet and full of emotion, she's able to make you feel the lyrics only with her voice.
Ruki
Ruki admires captivating voices; not too low but not high pitched either. I have this hc that Ruki would like Marina's voice and probably some of her songs too.
I really love her voice. Marina can either produce a tone and timbre that is thick and controlled one, or one that is similar to a falsetto, being breathy and warm.
Kou
Kou likes velvety voices. He likes a pop-singer's voice, maybe because he's an idol.
Ariana Grande's voice is an example. Her voice is velvety when she speaks or sings in a lower tone, is also sweet and potent. She can do awesome falsettos too
Yuma
Being pretty honest... I dont think Yuma cares about this stuff LOL
Is hard to find a specific voice that he'd like. However, I don't think he goes for high-pitched voices.
So I thought he would like a raspy and deeper voice. Maybe Willow's would be to his liking
Azusa
Azusa loves ethereal voices. That kind of voice sounds like a lullaby when singing and brings some comfort when you hear it.
The first voice that came to my mind was Aurora's. Her voice is so unique and sounds angelic.

Hello!!! I wanted to clear up some confusion about the CoffeeRock AU because I wasn’t really specific about the genres of Ellie, RHM and Sven and Burt so I wanted to post about it (and their music inspirations too so you get an idea of what I’m trying to go for) Also I’m really sorry if I get the terms wrong and if you do have knowledge on these genres feel free to tell me!
Ellie is Pop Punk which is a genre of rock. Her inspirations being Avril Lavigne and Willow Smith.
Right Hand Man is Indie Punk/Alternative Rock. His inspirations being Barns Courtney and HAIM.
Sven and Burt (who I haven’t thought of a band name for) are Alternative/Indie Rock. Their inspirations are I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME and My Chemical Romance.
