Hi Guys 👋🏾It’s been a while, but i’m more excited than ever to be posting.
Recently picked up some Coloured Raine liquid lipsticks during Ricky NYC’s big sale. These usually retail for $17 and I was able to snap them for $4.25 each! If you haven’t heard of Coloured Raine, it’s a black-owned beauty brand selling lipsticks, eye shadows, lashes and even nail polish! I’ll be back later this week with a detailed review, as well as some eye shadow swatches. If you’re interested in the sale, you can check it out here.
This is a heads up to all the hardworking, beautiful souls
if this applies to you, then take it!
"It is okay to take a break.”
Take a breather to relax and unwind.
Breath in and breath out.
Being on ten 24/7 is a recipe for burnout.
This is coming from a dedicated university student taking an accelerated degree program. (I have a new semester every month. 😪)
Here's the thing: back in February, I made myself sick from working too hard!
I pulled countless all-nighters back-to-back and worked early shifts. Because right after my work shift, I went straight into my schoolwork into the wee hours of the morning. My body could only handle two weeks of self-induced torture before it protested.
My body forced me to rest, which was a hard thing to do. I had to call off and ask for extensions on assignments which is something I rarely do.
One major lesson learned is that it is okay to give yourself periodic breaks in between.
It can help prevent headaches! Go ahead, take a quick nap, come back rejuvenated with fresh ideas!
Start by giving yourself 30-minute breaks, an hour, or even a couple hours before continuing.
I promise you this, your body will thank you!

What's the point of doing all of this if you're not taking care of yourself?
Besides giving yourself a break, make sure you stay hydrated and check your posture!!!

A lack of sleep will catch up to you. 💯
Please take the necessary steps for self-care.
Why would you work hard if you're not going to be able to reap your harvest?
Do you use references for your art? And where do you get them?? Also, I have a little trouble drawing women . IDK, I just got into the rut of drawing angled and mangled faces for too long I guess??? Do j need to get help?
References are hugely important for pretty much everything I draw. Even if I’m only sketching, I try to base it off some sort of photo or life reference. I get them from all over, but some of my favorites for lighting/environments come from tumblr aesthetic blogs (basic, I know lol). for more traditional posing/lighting etc these guys are really good:

These are some of my fave tumblrs, though I’m not sure if they’ll all be active post-ban:
@modelstodraw
@thecrossfit for muscular female poses (Victra and Aja refs are everywhere here)
@wocmakeup2 good for practicing skin tone/female faces
@portraitistnet
@hypnoticeyesandlips
@trashyprinces and @lovingmalemodels for guys
artistic-nudes-daily
(they’re being shadow banned rn, but awesome source)
Those are my main go-tos for sure, plus I’ve been adding to my personal reference collection for several years from all over the internet.
As for having difficulties drawing women, it’s actually really common (in my experience) to have issues drawing “standard” gender features of either men or women. I only really started to improve with drawing men about two years ago, but prior to that they looked very feminine (NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT but sometimes you wanna draw not androgynous). Basically it just takes practice, but I’d say try to incorporate softer shapes and more rounded features. That usually helps.
