My dogs my beloved dogs!! The first line of beastial spirit vine soldiers from my LoK AU. Created by Baatar when during experimentation, he discovered the spirit energy after being condensed causes the vines to react strangely to machinery and processed material. Turning the inorganic to organic.
These soldiers are comprised of spirit vines that have mutated in reaction to the condensed activated spirit energy and adhered themselves to the suits. Similar to "mimics" in a way, they can conceal their mouths fully so they're indistinguishable from human soldiers, though very astute earthbenders may notice they neither breathe nor have a heartbeat.

Forever stuck thinking about the parallels between Kuviren and Mingzan no one touch me
#I mean. unless you wanna yell about it with me. then yes please touch me absolutely#there's just something about tiny snarky waterbenders and their smug teasing earthbending partners#the type is definitely genetic#suiren not only looks exactly like Ming-Hua but also inherited her tsundere#and ghazan and kuvira are similar enough too. the way they're utterly smitten for their respective gfs. their love for teasing#their not so secret death wish#etc etc#once Mingzan and Kuvira get to meet some interesting conversations will have a chance to take place#I've got two main ideas#one is suiren and ming-hua#their relationship has gotten healthier. ming-hua has learned to let go of that little water lily she missed so much#suiren has realised her child self isn't dead just hidden deep down. once they reunite again it's nothing at all like Uprooted#and once ming-hua finds out about who her daughter is dating. they talk#suiren feels the need to overexplain bc of the whole former dictator thing. but ming-hua is like 'I see the way she looks at you.'#'like you're the world. she makes you happy and that's all that matters to me even if I don't quite understand why her of all people'#and when suiren asks how she knows. ming-hua talks about how ghazan looks at her. and then they get to discussing#and realise how similar their respective partners are#and then the other idea is ghazan and kuvira#she's nervous at first because again. an ex dictator surrounded by anarchists. and is worried the convo will be about intentions#with their daughter. so she too quickly tries to explain why she and Suiren are together. but ghazan just says#'if she's anything like her mother. and she was. as a child at least... then I totally get it' and he grins#and they talk about their girls in length too#ghazan's my love vs kuvira's my suiren#both smitten. completely and utterly in love#<3<3<3#if there's one thing to gain from all of this is it's that I maybe have become very kuviren centric but it's still a red lotus hyperfixation#first and foremost#and I've been craving RL shenanigans these past few days. so so badly#my beloved darlings

i can not stress enough how the show refused to give bolin a satisfying conclusion or explore any of his truama or genuinely take any time whatsoever to expand his character beyond comic relief and it is infuriating.
bolin gets kidnapped and almost looses the very thing that has defined his entire personhood, and the show only explores how it affected korra and mako. Even though we are told this has a lasting affect on bolin, re the "I still have nightmares" line. not to mention bolin and mako's childhood is only really explores through the lense of mako.
bolin gets abused for half a season and it's an ongoing joke, and then pivots to him getting manipulated for the rest of the season but again, that storyline focuses on mako. Bolin even admits that he's sad everyone has left him behind but we don't explore that besides a few one off lines.
season three is leagues better obviously but even then, nothing is explored in any depth and not for any lasting amount of time AND it all gets thrown to the wayside in season 4. Bolin is, for the first time, on his own and he makes this huge life shattering mistake and they only really focus on his relationship with opal. We don't get to see any of the guilt, the shame, the regret. Just him trying to win back opal. It's juvenile and disappointing.
And HE ISN'T EVEN INCLUDED IN THE REUNION EPISODE.... how long did he write Korra letters, did he ever stop, how does he feel about her disappearence, does he understand, does he resent her?
Bolin is one of the most tenderhearted, devoted, loyal characters in the show and he spends the series getting manipulated, abused, betrayed, and abandoned all while being downplayed and underestimated with zero exploration of his emotional state and it is so. disappointing.
he's my all time favorite avatar character and I wish they'd give him more screentime because there really is just so much to expand and dive into

Hiii! Idk how many characters you'll do in one request but-
Could i request some headcanons with the brothers(separate) and Kuvira on how they would try to cheer up their s/o whos been super stressed and anxious? Thanks💕
A/n:Oh yes,I can totally do this.
Genre:.fluff
Kuvira x reader, Bolin x reader, Mako x reader Cheering up their s/o (separate)
Tumblr media
Kuvira doesn't really know how to deal with anxiety , especially coming from her s/o.
But it doesn't mean she won't try. After a hard day she's there for you.
Now she's an amazing metal bender (and back bender) ,so what she will do, is create flowers and figures that she knows you like, maybe tell you one of earth kingdom's stories while she animates it with metal.
It's so wholesome tbh,and it always brings you back into a good mood :)
Tumblr media
Bolin is a master at cheering you up,and there's no denying.
Like if you had a particularly rough day that got you anxious or stressed,he's there. And Pabu of course.
Pabu would do some tricks to lighten your mood, and your boy would act like the host, allways bringing a smile on your lips.
If you're not in the mood for that, maybe some food in bed and childhood stories would work to.
Tumblr media
Mako is more on the quieter side, so his way of dealing with your anxiety is cuddling in bed with you, rubbing your waist or arm ,and if you're ready to speak about what made you feel the way you do,he's there to listen.
It's okay if you just wanna stay quiet. Mako's just fine with you snuggling up in his chest and falling asleep,as long as he knows that you feel safe,it's all that matters.

If worked for the team who made Avatar TloK. How would you rewrite TloK?
To be completely honest, rewriting tlok wouldn't fix all it's issues. Tlok just needed to have longer seasons, an actually established amount of seasons so they weren't pressured to make every single season a complete story for fear of not getting more time.
But let's say, hypothetically that I murdered mr Crabs or whoever is in charge of Nickelodeon and removed any studio meddling from the show.
My perfect world would include:
More filler episodes that focus on a singular character. Think Sokka's Master or the Painted Lady. The Krew are all fascinating characters with a lot of potential, however, due to the runtime of the show, their storylines are rushed... or completely nonexistent. Give me more details of Mako and Bolin's childhood. Show me emore of Asami struggling with her father's arrest.
I'd try to cut down on the westernisation of the show. I can see why these foreign aspects slipped in, since the closer the Avatarverse inches to our modern times, the more blurred the lines become. At least to my whiteass. I'd try to lean towards silkpunk, rather than the much more west based steampunk. It would be a fascinating endeavour to imagine what a world with mostly eastern influences would look like.
I'd make Vaatu the overarching villain/final boss of the story... it would require a bit of moving around of the timeline but I think I'd structure it as: Red Lotus> Kuvira> Amon> Vaatu. However I'd blur the timeline more. Make Amon a background threat in the eariler seasons, only for him to rise in popularity and power after people see what benders like Kuvira are capable of, for example.
This would also allow for certain villains to become redeemed or at least helpful in some way, later on. Mayhaps Amon and Kuvira team with the Krew to defeat Vaatu in some way.
Also, instead of destroying Vaatu completely, I'm leaning towards Korra absorbing him, in a way. Yes Vaatu is a dark spirit, but 'darker' urges are necessary for humans' survival and happiness. Korra embodies the duality of man very well. I think it would be a fascinating idea to see the Avatar become the embodiment of both light and darkness.
In general, making Vaatu and Raava more morally ambiguous, rather than the simple good spirit/bad spirit thing they had in the og show would be a fascinating concept.
I'd do my best to pull away from the show's original centerist narrative. Have Korra learn from the villains and make active changes to the world, showing her growth as an Avatar and person. Perhaps she's reluctant to see the Red Lotus' point of view at the beginning of the show, but sympathises with Amon at the tail end of the story.
Make the entire Krew queer. And talk about queerness more, in general. Have the characters have open conversations about queerness in their respective enviornments and cultures. Tlok already has a very queer undertone to it, even before korrasami became canon, but touching on this subject more overtly would provide great opportunity for characterisation and worldbuilding.
Have the story span several years. Watch the Krew grow up. Tlok works very well as a coming of age story even in its original form. Have Vaatu and his darkness and chaos symbolise the uncharted waters of maturity at the end of teenagedom. This especially works if Korra merges or accepts him like i suggested.
There... that's some basics. I think that most of my criticisms of the show could mostly be solved if the studio wasn't being a bitch but well. We can't have nice things, can we?
I took a while to answer this ask because it was genuinely such an interesting, but overwhelming question.
Also now I have wayy too many ideas about a potential tlok rewrite, so feel free to ask me about that if you want to hear me ramble.

since you talked about Izumi in some of your posts (like Dad!Zuko and Mom!Mai and their “conquering Ba Sing Se adventure”) and the Hou-Tong/Izumi beef, I was wondering if you were open to make Gaang kids headcanons.
and if you were, can I request Kya and Izumi headcanons on their friendship etc?
Ok so, anon refers to this post and this other post in the ask, FYI.
But yes, I absolutely am down to make adult gaang/Gaang kids’ headcanons of any kind. So if y’all want any headcanon of that kind feel free to send an anon!
Anyway, back to the ask. I absolutely love the potential of Kya and Izumi’s dynamic. But since I love angst, here’s some little HCs with p a i n.
Izumi and Kya are roughly the same age, maybe Izumi is a year older than Kya.
Ever since they could sit straight, they’ve been inseparable. And as kids, with the republic city construction, they used to be constantly together
I headcanon that Izumi was more responsible and protective of Kya, while Kya saw Izumi as her idol, because you know, pretty firebending princess who punches everyone who looks at Kya the wrong way
I also like to think that Izumi was Kya’s gay awakening in her teens, but never acted on it because Izumi was straight and uninterested. Also, I HC that Izumi had a thing with Bumi, but that’s another story
Anyways. Since Izumi most likely had Iroh at like, 20, Kya would always hang out with Iroh as his fun aunt, doing mischief around etc.
But, and let’s go to the angsty part, I also HC that Kya and Izumi kind of began losing contact once 30s approached. Because you know, Kya was always traveling, and Izumi had crown princess duties to partake in.
Also, given that Zuko was Fire Lord and kind of not as involved in republic city as he used to be, the FN royal family did not hang out with the rest of the gaang as often, and Izumi ended up being often excluded from the drama etc. nothing unfixable, but stuff that definitely hurt Izumi.
I also feel like Izumi (and parents) was always invited to all of the gaang’s and their kids’ milestones, like weddings, ceremonies etc.
And when in 158AG Sokka died protecting Korra, Zuko and Izumi were at the funeral despite their problems in the fire nation.
But, and here we reach the most angsty part, a year later it was Mai who died, of an illness that had taken her like, five years prior. Of course Zuko and Izumi were distraught, and asked Katara, Toph and the others to attend.
But the day of the funeral, only Katara showed up. Because Bumi was in the United forces, Kya couldn’t interrupt her spiritual travels, Tenzin had a heavily pregnant Pema at home, Lin was working, Suyin was just up in her business in Zaofu and Toph was nowhere to be found.
This made Zuko very sad, but Izumi? She was furious. Absolutely furious. Because, how could they miss the one time they needed to be there for her after all the times she had gone out of her way to support them?
And especially, Izumi felt betrayed by Kya, for not even passing by or answering back to the news. So Izumi kind of ghosted and stopped talking with everyone.
The first time she saw any of the Gaang kids was during Kuvira’s storyline. And even then, as cold as ice
So I kind of headcanon that Korra had some business to do in the fire nation and the gang kids tagged along, and kind of had a some of fight with Izumi about her ghosting them and them never visiting
Izumi would be the most angry and hurt with Kya, and they would kind of be angry with each other for the entirety of the storyline
But then by the end, they would have an actual talk and begin speaking to each other again
So yeah, happy ending but TONS of angst. I know right? Amazing❤️

Adding to the episodes of bad Mako social media takes, here one from the "offical" youtube channel. They did a 'who's on the naughty list' poll and the choices were Zaheer, The Earth Queen, and of frickin course Mako (and Tahno for some reason).
That actually made me a little angry. I really hate how their channels go to appeals to the worst parts of the fandom.
Sorry to dump here, but I needed to vent this out.
hey no problem.
the fandom's hatred towards mako has always been objectively odd to me.
like there isn't anything wrong with disliking a character and i know a lot of people find mako boring.
couldn't be me but whatever.
what bothers me is that the purposeful, willful misunderstanding of a character where it's twisted to justify character bashing. it often comes across as "hey this character isn't expressing their trauma the way i want them to so they suck."
mako is repressed.
part of the love triangle problem is that mako doesn't know what he wants. mako's emotional needs became superfluous when his parents died. they no longer mattered in the face of survival for himself and bolin. when confronted with something outside of this he completely flounders because he's not only never examined what his wants even are and has disregarded them so much he has no idea that obtaining something he wants for himself is like, you know, allowed. also, tu clocked his ass by saying that him wanting to people please ended up pleasing no one including him.
is mako the mom from reba mcentire's is there life out there? yes. yes he is.
i have seen sooooo many bad takes on legend of korra characters. from korra herself to a child character like meelo. mako is not the only victim but he is the most visable i think outside of korra.
i've also expressed sooooo many times that i loathe what i consider a bad stale joke that is frequently regurgitated that mako somehow "turned" asami and korra gay makes me want to brain myself. i expect that shit from reddit and youtube but when i see it on tumblr it's disappointing because it's usually people who claim to want representation yet they disregard korra and asmai's bisexuality to make mako the butt of a shitty joke.
also asami and korra didn't get together until three full ass years after either of them were involved with mako.
all three of them get over their cringe love triangle too and become even better friends by the end. none of them hold onto any resentment. mere weeks after korra and mako's break up korra and asami are laughing about their mistakes and korra wants mako to come with her to find airbenders. there weren't any hard feelings.
people will bend over backwards to justify kuvira and rationalize amon or defend zaheer when mako's worse crime is being a dumbass teenager who made mistakes but more than apologized and made up for them.

What is a head cannon about a character you hold near and dear to your heart and what would you change in canon ? Please and thank you.
Kuvira and General Iroh have somewhat of a professional friendship. During the time Korra is away in the south, Iroh tries as best he can to support Kuvira's efforts to stabilize the Earth Kingdom. He's blocked at every turn. The United Republic considers it an internal matter, as does the Fire Nation. The Northern Water tribe, following their disastrous civil war, is completely isolationist. In the South, Chief Tonraq is too worried about his daughter to help, and at any rate they are small and still recovering militarily from Unalaq's invasion. But Kuvira notices and appreciates Iroh cashing in his diplomatic chips for appeals on her behalf. Not even Suyin offered that much.
When Kuvira's unification efforts go too far Iroh is devastated. Partly because he feels his good will was betrayed, but mostly because he wonders if, should their positions have been reversed, he might not have done something similar. Prince Wu was weak and ill-prepared and one Mako away from being assassinated. The Avatar was out of action, perhaps permanently. Would he, as a general with an army at his back and at least a flimsy sense of legitimacy in his name, have stood aside and let his country fall into chaos for lack of leadership? How many of Raiko's bad decisions can he take before he simply says "no" instead of "yes, sir." Checks and balances exist for a reason. They also get innocent people killed. Iroh loses a lot of sleep over this.
He visits Kuvira frequently after her imprisonment under the guise of studying her strategy and learning from the experience. Really, he is hoping to see how they are different and how careful he needs to be with himself and his own power. At some level Iroh understands what he could take if he wanted, and he is afraid.
I'd make all of the above canon and put it in a comic.

Why I Dislike Amon and Kuvira
Note: While I don’t think The Legend of Korra (TLOK) is as good as Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA), I still think it is a pretty good show, and that 99.9% of its problems can be traced to Nick not giving Bryke a full four seasons with a proper budget from the outset. However, I don’t think any piece of fiction is perfect, hence why I criticize TLOK like I do ATLA.
Amon and Kuvira are two characters who are important to TLOK’s narrative not only on an individual, character level, but also because they represent previously unaddressed social issues in ATLA’s world as well.
This is because in Amon’s case, the Equalist movement he heads deals with an important issue that the original ATLA glosses over at best: the issue of benders being innately superior to non-benders.
Or more specifically, the fact that, unless you are a highly trained and/or highly gifted non-bender like Piandao, Mai, Ty Lee, Suki, or Sokka, your bog standard bender who has the slightest amount of training has a nigh-insurmountable power advantage, and thus has every incentive to lord their unearned power over non-benders.
Meanwhile, Kuvira deals with an issue that up until her becoming the main villain of Season 4 was barely addressed in TLOK’s intro and glossed over in the ATLA comics: how would Earth Kingdomers feel about the United Republic being formed from the Fire Nation’s oldest Earth Kingdom colonies.
Or more specifically, how, after getting pressured by Fire National colonialists and those close to them, King Kuei and Avatar Aang worked with Fire Lord Zuko to give the oldest colonists the option of self-determination, which they exercised to form the United Republic.
This, even though the oldest colonies were dominated politically and economically by the Fire Nationalist colonists and their close allies, with the marginalized Earth Kingdomer masses having little to no say in regards to the above mentioned process.
(If you disagree with my characterization of how Earth Kingdomers would view the resolution of the Yu Dao crisis, please check out The Problem with Yu Dao and A Potential Solution where I go into much more detail about this topic.)
However, it is precisely because Amon and Kuvira represent previously unaddressed social issues in ATLA’s world that I dislike them.
For in Amon’s case, before his identity was revealed, I was interested to see how the Krew would defeat him, let alone defeat the Equalist Movement since it wasn’t a problem that could be punched.
However, after his identity was revealed, I quickly soured on his character since, with him being a psychic, 24/7 bloodbender, it became apparent that the only way to beat him would be having an Avatar State Korra fight him or through a deus ex machina, with the latter being the way how he was defeated.
And I started disliking him once it became clear that the Equalist movement died off just because he was exposed as a fraud and Republic City’s all-bender council got replaced by a democratically elected unitary executive, one who so far has been non-benders due to non-benders numerical dominance.
This is because the underlying issue of benders having an innate advantage over non-benders never really got resolved, and so I hate how Amon’s character was used to avoid a real discussion or give any real solutions to said problem.
Especially since in real life, even if a movement’s leader is exposed as a fraud, the movement, or at least some variation of it, will continue to persist since movements, or more specifically, underlying issues in society, create leaders, not the other way around.
Meanwhile, I dislike Kuvira because, despite growing up in a world where the horrors of the Hundred Year War and the failures of the Hundred Year War era Fire Nation were surely taught to children like her, she decided to repeat them with her concentration camps and illegal and immoral war of conquest.
(Yes, I know canonically Kuvira did not know about the concentration camps, but even if that is the case, I still hold her responsible for them.)
(This is because commanders/generals in the real world are responsible for the actions of their subordinates when it comes to war crimes, and more generally, leaders are generally responsible for the actions of their subordinates when their subordinates are acting within the scope of their relationship. Thus, I hold her to that standard, even if the war crimes tribunal of the United Republic doesn’t.)
(Also, her attempt to retake the United Republic was an illegal and immoral war of conquest since the United Republic had been a sovereign state for over 70 years, with its sovereignty recognized by all the other nations in the world, including the Earth Empire’s predecessor, the Earth Kingdom. Moreover, even if it hasn’t been said explicitly yet in canon material, I am pretty sure in the 70-odd years between the end of ATLA and the start of TLOK the five nations signed treaties making wars of conquest illegal.)
This, even though her adopted grandma fought in the War and was friends with Fire Nationals who grew up in the Hundred Year War era Fire Nation, and more likely than not told her about her and her Fire National friends experiences.
And why does she do all that? Not because she actually believes that the way the United Republic was formed was immoral and an act of injustice against the Earth Kingdom, but because of unresolved abandonment issues.
And when she “redeems” herself, she does the bare minimum before finally admitting her fault and getting house arrest in Zafou, the closest thing to paradise on Earth.
I thought Kuvira could have been used to tell a story about the evils of revanchism, and how an inability to let go of past territorial injustices and focus on the present leads people to becoming the very monsters they claim to be fighting against.
That and what steps an authoritarian conqueror would have to take to credibly redeem themselves not only in the world’s eyes, but also in the eyes of their people, who they betrayed and misled with their lies about peace and prosperity through violence and subjugation.
Instead, we instead essentially get a sane, adult Azula who doesn’t have the excuse of indoctrination and got a really undeserved and unearned redemption that fanfics often give to a heavily woobified Azula.
This, all while never directly addressing the Earth Kingdom’s lingering resentment towards the United Republic, nor ever giving a concrete resolution to said resentment.
So to conclude, I dislike Amon and Kuvira’s characters because the resolution of their arcs were not only unsatisfying on a personal level, but also ruined the potential to meaningfully address key issues present in TLOK’s world, thus weakening TLOK as a whole.

I’ve seen it mentioned before that Kuvira and Azula would’ve probably been friends, and I have to disagree for one main reason:
Azula is everything that Kuvira hates about monarchies. She truly believes that she’s “above” everyone else because of who her family is. Kuvira only pursued power in an effort to help her nation. While Azula pursues it because she believes it’s owed to her by birth. Yes, Kuvira ended up doing a lot of terrible things too. I’m not denying that, just pointing out the obvious issues Kuvira would have with Azula as a person. Kuvira would, however, respect Azula for being a very competent warrior and would probably even relish the idea of potentially fighting her.
I just don’t see them bonding because of that. However of course this is assuming that we’re talking about a canon version of both characters. If it’s an AU, then I could totally see it, though I don’t think they’d very close friends. Idk, it’s hard to explain, I just have a hard time seeing them getting along all that well. (Also, please understand that this is based off of my own headcanons about both characters, so it’s probably a bit biased.)

A bit of a random Baatar/Kuvira headcanon I’ve thought about a lot~
In pretty much every fanfic I’ve read that involved them playing Pai Sho in any capacity, the stance literally across all of them is that she beats him at the game all the time with little effort. And tbh I personally think the opposite would be true~ I actually don’t think long term strategy is Kuvira’s strong suit. She’s more geared towards thinking in the moment, processing what’s directly in front of her than looking further beyond it. Like let’s be honest, her plan to march on Republic City was an asinine one. Making yourself the simultaneous enemy of all the other nations at once is- to put it lightly, a fucking stupid as hell move. She’s impatient and reckless, she just happens to be very good at what she does and has a strong military support system which does a lot of heavy lifting with her plans most of the time. Pai So is a game about the long term strategy, and thinking 8 steps ahead of your opponent, which is where I feel Baatar would excel the most. Baatar has more the opposite mindset of Kuvira. Where she’s looking at the immediate battles, he’s contemplating the war as a whole so to speak. Being so paranoid about his image and legacy, he’s constantly charting the points of his life ahead far into the future. Judging and weighing possible actions, their outcomes, and how that effects the chain down the line. No one could argue that in hand to hand and immediate situations, Kuvira knows exactly how she wants to go about things, but in the long term? Not really so much. She’d easily get impatient sitting at the game board trying to plot ahead; rather she just takes quick actions she can see directly in front of her in an attempt to brute force her way through, meanwhile Baatar is more than happy to sit for long periods of time to plot his course and additional strategies in emergency cases.
All that to say I’m of the opinion that Baatar would play circles around her in Pai Sho and she can’t stand it(affectionately because he always makes up for her frustrating losses afterwards in some way~)

Not enough Avatar fans recognize how good of a bender Bolin is bcuz he's mostly busy being played as comic relief. But even just at the end of TLOK he's praised by his personal hero Toph Beifong and is one of 3 known lavabenders, has gone toe to toe and bended alongside Toph's talented daughters and displays similar feats.
And he's shown to practice bending seriously and improve between time jump, b/c have you noticed that he observed and mastered the Red Lotus lavabender's lava glaive trick and uses it to cut through platinum in Book 4? That and Toph said that she'd be willing to teach Bolin metalbending b/c she brags about being able to teach anyone metalbending (Toph's metalbending school comics reference yay) & in the TLOK comics Toph is shown to go out of her way to leave the swamp & head to Rep. City to hang out with her granddaughter and her future grandson-in-law, so I'm betting Bolin's been getting some tutoring in and officially become one of Toph's students.
TLDR I hope Bolin shows up in the new Avatar series and shows up how strong he is at old age, b/c half his canon appearances so far are him at 16 and he's underratedly really good.
no because Bolin is genuinely an unparalleled bender. he has sheer power on the level of avatars, see how catches an entire building dropped on a room full of earth benders before anyone else and then was the only one holding it up despite TOPH BEING IN THE ROOM? for one.
he also has the drive to be good at his bending that we don't really see with mako or even really korra in the show. sure, we see korra learn air bending but then she's just frustrated it's not coming naturally. with Bolin we see him struggle with his bending and still become the best. see how quickly he mastered an element with No One to teach him or him throwing himself at metal bending over and over. Which I'm honestly torn if I want him to learn it? On one hand, literally op earthbender which is amazing yes please. On the other, I kinda like that metal bending, something that is traditional earthbending techniques taken to the extreme, is what Bolin struggles with.
It's pretty heavily implied Bolin and Mako had no formal bending teacher and are completely self taught. In fact, the times we see Bolin do the most traditional earthbending moves are in season 4, which takes place after the 3 year jump. This is also when he's working for Kuvira and is probably the only time he did get formal training in earthbending, so it would make sense he would incorporate that more.
and ive talked about this before but, Bolin is the quickest earthbender in the entire show. he is incredibly talented in his craft and no one else in the entire show bends like he does. like, okay. This?
Tumblr media
that move? that spin kick he's doing? That's a fire bending move.
Tumblr media
he's doing a fire bending move with earth. kinda like iroh's move for redirecting lighting, bolin's entire bending style is this quote "when you take (wisdom) from only one place it becomes rigid and stale. understanding others, other nations, will help you become whole" Bolin is an earth bender who grew up learning to bend by watching fire bending. and that is a huge part of why Bolin is such a unique and talented fighter.
tbh I hope he never learns metal bending because the contrast between him and toph is nice. Toph is someone who excels at traditional earthbending, to the point of inventing a new type of sub-bending. whereas Bolin is so skilled at adapting and integrating different bending styles that he's able to master a volatile element that is eath that behaves like water with properties of fire at 17 with no teacher.
so yeah I agree 100% I would fucking love to see Bolin older because he would be a fucking powerhouse.

Kuvira 4 and 18 for the character ask (if you'd like)!
Character asks about Kuvira? Yes, please!
If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
Oooh, this is a good one because I've always felt Kuvira's story could be a great fit for a crossover with the novel and anime series The Twelve Kingdoms. I have talked about this previously on this blog, and my opinion still stands. The overall premise of the story is about a girl who gets transported to this world resembling feudal China and finds out she is the ruler of one of its Twelve Kingdoms (roll credits). Rulers are told by a sacred creature, a kirin, that their mandate is willed by the gods. So far, it sounds fairly standard isekai fare, right? The kicker is that if the appointed ruler does a crapy job, it's the kirin and the kingdom who get punished along with the ruler with monster attacks, famine, and natural disasters. So what better job for a disgraced dictator than to have the chance to turn her life around with another turn at the bat, fully knowing what's on the line for her country and her kirin should she fail again? The Asian fantasy setting, the complex politics, and the deep worldbuilding The Twelve Kingdoms offer are a natural match to Kuvira's story, and besides, she would absolutely slay in royal garb.

My girl Youko Nakajima from 12K looking fab.
How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
It pains me to admit that, as much as I would love for Lin and Kuvira to have any type of relationship, they don't in canon, so that's something for fanfiction to fix. Compared to other characters, canon doesn't provide us with a lot of options for Kuvira aside from the Beifong family (Sans Lin), Varrick, Bolin, Zhu Li, and of course Korra, so I'll go with the Avatar. Putting aside the minuscule detail that they were enemies, I believe there's potential for a solid friendship here, and the proof is in what we've been shown both in the series and later in the comics. Korra was able to get through Kuvira's defenses in the Spirit World and persuaded her to surrender unconditionally, something that hadn't happened with any of Korra's previous foes. In Ruins of the Empire, we see how Kuvira is willing to help Korra and how Korra is willing to provide her with the opportunity to do so despite everyone else's misgivings. It might take some time, but I'm hopeful the temporary alliance we saw in ROTE could eventually give way to a meaningful friendship.

Please, I need more moments like this.

I wonder, do you have any headcanons in mind for jealous Kuvira with her s/o (like if some random person flirts with them while she is watching)?
Jealous Kuvira? Oh yes 😉
Tumblr media
Kuvira as a person is composed,in many situations she knows how to control herself, but when a random person starts making advances on her s/o? Yeah no.
In this scenario,it's one of her soldiers. They are quite bold to make a move on Kuvira's s/o in the first place.
It starts off with them complementing your outfit, then your looks. If they dare to do this around her she would raise a brow and cross her arms. But being her,she would allow this charade to continue for a little longer ,even if her jaw clenched in anger. Just to see how far this would go.
Of course you wouldn't understand that the person is hitting on you, after all you didn't care about anyone else but Kuvira.
At one point the guard would be caught checking you out by no one else but Kuvira, and oh boy. She made sure to make a fool out of him in front of her other guards. That only made the person more eager to get to you, wrong choice buddy.
When that person cornered you to shamefully flirt with you and attempted to kiss you,well...
They didn't even know what hit them. One second they were almost kissing you,the next their mouth and hands are tied by her metal plates, stuck to the metal ground.
"I thought I have made myself clear in staying away from my s/o ,but apparently you can't understand simple English. Perhaps a while in my concentration camp would do you good in taking orders." Her stern , attractive voice would speak.
Her eyes would possess an amused yet dangerous glint in them, which indicated she meant each and every word she said.
Her guards would take away the person. a long while never to be heard of them.
She wouldn't blame you for being oblivious,or being attractive. But it doesn't mean that Kuvira would accept anyone making a move on you ,and that person is a lesson for everyone.
Perhaps they learned from the soldier's mistake, even so,it wouldn't mind her to make another prisoner of who tries to get with you again, whether it is to spite her,or to actually try to take you away from her. It's not happening.
Lesson for today? Don't even try to get close to her loved one.

Yes, I adore the headcanons of Lin bonding with Kuvira and taking her under her wing and stuff where Lin sees herself in Kuvira and whatnot..
But what about the headcanons where Lin sees herself in Opal and the boys (minus Baatar. Fuck Baatar) What about the headcanons where Lin sees Suyin in Kuvira?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees her niece and nephews vying for their mothers attention and willing to do anything to keep her pride and affection?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees a sibling split off from the family, mix with bad, dangerous people? Where said sibling causes pain to innocent people with their actions?
What about headcanons where Lin sees and remembers the strife it causes in a family?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees Kuvira trying to hurt her siblings?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees that when Kuvira is finally brought to justice, she is let off with basically a slap on the wrist? Justice trumped by a mother's love once again.
What about the headcanons where Lin sees her niece, her nephews, hurt, frightened, betrayed, confused?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees her niece, her nephews, have their feelings dismissed by their mother again and again?
What about the headcanons where Lin sees her niece, her nephews, unheard, unsupported and she decides to be that support?
