Jake only allowed you to visit him once before he got his implants.

He was already too ashamed at having landed himself in juvie, at dragging you down by association.

And he knows he really shouldn't care about this, but he fears how repulsed you would be by him. By the lack of teeth and the scar, a gruesome outcome of his weakness.

You aren't stupid or naïve enough to expect high spirits when you visit, however you didn't expect to see this shadow of a man. Keeping his lips shut, giving you perfunctory closed-mouth smiles with haunted eyes, fingers subconsciously lifting to his scar every now and then.

Nevertheless, you approach Jerry to see if there is anything you can do with the street's help. Which is another laughable idea because Big Deal is famous for two things: their passion, and their lack of money.

Jerry's response surprised you. In hindsight you're not sure why; you know you can always depend on him and on the crew.

Red Mansion - By Nanggaek (9/10)

Crime rings are so boring. We've all seen the same stale "gangster" settings before. This is a really dark crime webtoon. Both men are yanderes and the real evils of the story are landlords, debt, and exploitation. It kinda gets too real. The simmering evil is top tier.

Sungkyung, or "Mini Mart", runs Mini Mart number 3 in the Red Mansion complex. The Red Mansion isn't a collection of regular apartments. It's very cheap. Very old. Very moldy. Very populated by criminals and people in debt etc. Our protagonist gets robbed. He gets scammed. His store is a dirty joke, and there's constant fights in the halls.

Make no mistake.

The Red Mansion is a prison for the desperate poor.

Mini Mart is underweight. His little business barely makes any money. Most of the residents don't pay their tab. Mini Mart occasionally has to take dangerous side jobs to pay for his parents meds.

Mini Mart was BORN in the Red Mansion. His parents fell into debt when their business flopped. Their son has never known normalcy, or the luxury of safety.

He's also a total hottie under the grime and dirty hair, but that doesn’t matter when your life is debt.

They were loving parents, so Mini Mart feels compelled to care for them. Both parents have fallen victim to some mysterious disease. They won't eat and they just sleep in cots all day, covered in flies.

You may have already guessed the plot twist. It looks like his parents aren't really sick, by definition. They have lost the will to live in the Red Mansion. They were once a prosperous middle class couple. They've...given up, even though Mini Mart hasn't given up on them.

The Red Mansion is a family business. It's been making money off of people in debt for years. The second generation owner is the handsome Mr. Kwon. The younger of two brothers.

He's handsome and he's a scary gangster.

Mini Mart has a crush on him because....well...duh? Mr. Kwon is a well dressed and reasonably polite man who visits Mini Mart about once a week. He doesn't abuse Mini Mart.

By the way I'm calling him Mini Mart because Mr. Kwon doesn't know his name.

It's all very creepy. Mr. Kwon doesn't KNOW Mini Mart. He's not interested in Mini Mart..........but he totally is. Mr. Kwon has never slept with a man. He doesn't KNOW he has a crush on Mini Mart. He just shows up. He gives Mini Mart money. Gifts. He visits when he has lower thugs for that, and he's nice to Mini Mart. He also licks cheap lollipops while he stares at Mini Mart. Yeah definitely a dense closet Bi guy. Classic repressed alpha male. You get it.

Mini Mart has noticed the flirting. You see, he has an observation note book. Mr. Kwon is his only friend and his only crush. Mini Mart is super obsessed with him. He sort of figures out that Mr. Kwon is interested in him...in some way. Maybe it's pity. He's not sure, but he's willing to do anything. Mr. Kwon is literally the coolest, most handsome, richest, nicest person in his life.

Of course he's obsessed to an unhealthy degree. His visits are the one bright spot in Mini Mart's routine. He has to spend the rest of his time working and caring for his depressed parents.

Mini Mart is weird but he's a nice guy. He fights a bloody battle to get pills from a quack doctor for his parents. Mr. Kwon eventually sees the injuries. His "gifts" start to get bigger. He seems to like how "pathetic" Mini Mart is. That kinda sucks because Mini Mart is a resilient and kind hard worker. Who really doesn't deserve to be looked down upon for supporting his entire family but...whatever Mr. Kwon is done for.

Mr. Kwon kinda invites Mini Mart over. Kinda. Mini Mart is in debt. He has to pay interest directly to Mr. Kwon. Usually that's done in the Red Mansion, but Mr. Kwon invites him to his real home when he's kinda drunk.

He notices Mini Mart is turned on by him. He confronts Mini Mart about his stolen jacket, and he's turned on by that and.....Mini Mart stole the jacket to sniff it and he admits it.

....

...

Well.....

Mini Mart is happy.

Mr. Kwon is mostly confused but he's got spirit. I'm not saying he's awesome, but he's never outright awful. He does things for Mini Mart that actually help him a little bit. He's interesting because he falls for Mini Mart very, very slowly. He's crass. He's rude. He thinks he's into women, but then Mini Mart blushes at him and suddenly he wants to do chores. He settles the debt tabs for the mart, just to help out his new lover.

Is he a nice guy? No, but Mr. Kwon isn't moping around the mart trying to abuse the object of his interest. The story is very dark in general, so it's easy to see that Mr. Kwon gives Mini Mart special treatment.

He's a soulless demon with everybody else.

It's also nice??? That Mr. Kwon really enjoys uh...pleasuring Mini Mart? It's messed up that he doesn't learn Sungkyung's name for a while, but at the same time there's enthusiastic consent and both men enjoy themselves fully. I think this is the superior "kept man yandere" webtoon. I can actually see this relationship progressing. Mini Mart would absolutely, willingly become Mr. Kwon's submissive lover. No prison keys required.

Hi! I've been craving some yandere content that's not manga, webtoon, manwa, etc. Do you have recommendations that are movies, tv shows, maybe some kdrama too? Just not manga, anime and the sort.

Sorry this one took a kabillion years to answer. Back in October, Cherry and I basically had a yandere movie month where we would just watch a bunch of movies that were labeled as Male Yandere movies because horror month (which is unfortunate for me because I don't really like horro movies). Anyways, besides the short list here that has some TV shows, here's some stuff we watched. Some of this will be later put in as recommendations, probably on Tuesdays.

Hush Little Baby- we're going to start out with some lifetime movies because they're low calorie and turn off brain fun to watch. About a neighbor kid who comes in to babysit the main character's kid only to cause problems to the entire family.

Swim at Your Own Risk- another lifetime movie. About a swim team girl who has a fling with the swim couch after taking a break with her boyfriend. Things go wrong as the swim couch gets obsessed with her.

You Belong to Me - another lifetime movie. About a lady who finds out that someone is stalking her and tries to figure out who it is after they try to murder her boyfriend.

Addicted/Obsessed- Addicted is the korean movie and Obsessed is the English remake. About twins, one of which is married to the female lead, where they both have an accident. The husband dies, however, the other seems to have been possessed by the husband.

LadyHawke - older movie, but the yandere is the main villain. About a main character who escapes prison and finds a couple who is cursed to turn into a wolf and hawk respectively during the day and night, fated to never be together.

Well Intentioned Love- Chinese drama, though the yandere portion only really shows up in the first season. About a girl who has lukemia and has to have a contract marriage with the only person who can give her a doner bone marrow match. Driver is best character.

Disco Pigs- Pretty surreal movie in some cases. About two childhood friends, Pig and Runt who love each other as Pig becomes more and more obsessed with her as the movie goes on.

Labyrinth - I probably won't write a recommendation for this one because the yandere portion really only shows up in the song, but it's still a fun movie with David Bowie. I even read the comic for it just to check but the yandere portion seems to only show up in the song.

The Boy - I actually watched this with another friend that was obsessed with wallmen, but its a pretty fun movie overall. I think most people know this one though. About a lady who moves in and babysits a doll while trying to escape her abusive ex.

Within - also another movie I watched with my wallmen obsessed friend. About a family that moves into a house that turns out to be haunted in one way or another.

What If…Dr. Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands? - Sorcerer Supreme in general in general seems like a yandere since his entire goal is to just bring back Christine at all costs. He also just generally shows up in other episodes of the What If? Series.

Heathers - I heard the movie version isn't nearly as yandere, but the musical version is for sure.

Phantom of the Opera- I'm kind of cheating with this one because it's like one of the OG male yandere stuff, but hey, if you haven't heard or watched it yet, well you know.

That's about it for now since usually Cherry and I don't watch a ton of movies. Might change after a while, but we'll see. Maybe in February we'll try to have a tv drama month to watch stuff.

you thought as you let out a small 'tsk' at your current situation. you wondered why you accepted the task of being the bait for the cloudknights. running around was something you deeply hated and you would much rather stay behind the scenes strategizing, but elio had to order you to do this.

"surround the area!" a cloudknight yelled.

although you hated the battlefield, you somehow missed the thrill of being a target. a small smile appeared on your face while you continued to sprint to a corner to lure the cloudknights in. hundreds of years may have passed since you last visited your homeland, xianzhou, but you still remembered every corner and place in this map. a small prize for having served xianzhou for so long, one can say.

you took a breathe of air as you stopped at a dead end, patiently waiting for the cloudknights to arrive, and yet no one had come for you. perhaps you overestimated their abilities? you thought.

your eyes widened at the realization once you heard a familiar chuckle emerge from behind you. a certain white haired general slowly approached you with a teasing smile on his face and a sword tightly gripped in his hands. you've been caught at your own game.

"a pleasure to meet you."

jing yuan greeted while he pointed his sword at you, his eyes showing a hint of hatred and sadness. your face lit up in amusement at the man before you. he was no longer the annoying, reckless boy you've met during your days of training under jingliu. you let out a small scoff as you playfully raised your hands to 'surrender'. you sighed before speaking "look, i don't wanna be here either, but–"

just as you were about to make a move, in a blink of an eye, you were pinned to the wall. jing yuan held your wrist tightly while his face was dangerously close to yours. his weapon was pointing to your neck while your gun was pointed to the side of his face. "have you gone weaker since we last met?" jing yuan teased.

you stared back into his eyes, deep down the two of you enjoyed this, but neither of you would admit that. "that was hundreds of years ago, but it seems like you're still annoying." you replied, your grin growing wider while your finger almost pulled the trigger.

"since this conversation has been going smoothly, lets continue this with you in prison, yeah?" he whispered, his face going closer to yours to the point that your noses touched and you could practically feel every breath he took before he jumped back, but near enough to prevent you from escaping.

you smiled before speaking. 3. Zongyi - Kiseki Dear To Me

I'd also throw hands at everyone who wouldn't let this guy finally race his car in peace.

6. Khem - The Sign

He may not need bodily protection as well, but I will forever believe the cheating allegations are a misunderstanding and if they're not I'll defend that he's dedicated enough to go as far as to make it through the most hellish elite training program just so he could keep groveling at his ex-lovers feet and call him baby.

7. Sky - Love In The Air

He may have Prapai now but that wouldn't stop me to throw hands at anyone who dares to harm him. Fort said is favourite scene was when Sky was so happy he could make it to the first year event and that was when I knew I'd protect Sky with my life too.

8. Sangwoo - Semantic Error

Us Autistics have to stick together and I already loved him in the webtoon. I love how he is 100% unapologetically himself and I will roundhouse kick everyone who dares to try to mock him for it. He's my favourite savage.

you mentioned that COB's 4th season is the last one, so would it be rude/too early to ask about your next comic? i remember seeing art if like a... biblically accurate eldritch angel very of finz (i think) and he was with a goggle wearing guy. did that have anything to do with your next comic/project?

Aaa. I kind of...go back and forth on what I wanna do after CoB. I have a few ideas, though there's one I've definitely put the most eggs in the basket of, so to speak, and that's the one you're referring to- With Finze and his partner, Nine Lives.

This has nothing to do with CoB to be clear... I just really like Finze, so I re-use him for multiple projects. Think it kind of like...across the Spiderverse haha. They're all Finze, just kind of different universe/story's versions of Finze (with a few core parts of his character always in place- nasty personality, always smiling, always has a fucked up eye, generally same look). So this Finze has nothing to do with the CoB Finze (and is actually much younger, like 17).

They actually aren't the main characters of that story though, just my favorites. Once I get more into it, I'm sure you'll see some love for the actual MCs. I did do one drawing of the MC, though he's super subject to change at this point...

His name is Win, and believe it or not this is actually a much more lighthearted story haha. I plan on pitching it either as Supernatural/Comedy or Supernatural/Romance. The tone of this pic is completely off from what I'm imagining and I mostly wanted to draw that building in the background, which is kind of a big thing in the story.

Anyway, I guess I'm not saying much about the actual story in this post am I? It's very much an angels/demons/humans story, with a romance between a human and demon. Finze's one of the side characters who is a (half)-angel and Nine Lives is another side character who is a half-demon. But like...all in a world where that isn't a very big deal. Nine goes to school with humans just like everyone else, he's just a little weird. Their romance is kind of currently a B plot in the story.

Though, I also play with the idea of doing a completely different story, featuring Finze and Nine as the actual main characters. I have even less to show of that one though, except some concepts of Nine's design (which isn't much different from his other designs).

This one is much darker and while I'd love to do a story where Finze and Nine are the main characters... I'm just afraid how it'd do on Webtoon. It'd be a Thriller BL and I'm not sure how WT audiences feel about those two themes together. It's a very "Escape from New York" kind of premise with a prison city.

No matter what though, I really wanna do something with Finze and Nine more front and center for my next project haha. Finze's just my all time favorite OC and Nine isn't far behind him, so that's just the self-indulgence I want in whatever I do after CoB.

ok pov you see me, in need of some good sustenance during the tmagp hiatus, in a unbecoming fit of nostalgia, i redownload webtoon.

webtoon reminds me of the days when things were simpler, when i didn't know what arc sin was let alone the fact that i would have to be able to draw it one day. but i've changed since then, the cutesy romances i was super into don't interest me as much anymore so what do i do? i start in the horror/thriller section.

ok so there are 3 that have gripped my brain and refuse to let go

(major spoilers obvs, tw for mentions of rape, sexual assault, violence, mental health issues, mental hospitals)

Silent Screams:

oh my GOD

this was nothing like i thought this would be

like the description thingy was giving finding a way out of being kidnapped vibes

but in reality it was SO MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT

i didn't realise it would be set in like the 19th century, so that was another cool thing as well

basically there's this guy named theo

he has really bad anger issues and he's super attached to his mum (✨mommy issues✨)

we find out that his mum got raped when she was 14 and had theo as a result, so they spent most of their lives struggling to get by

on top of that, the mum has some kind of chronic illness

theo is insanely protective of his mum and suspicious of men, he regularly gets into fights, especially with his mum's best friend who he doesn't trust

then his mum meets and falls in love with a doctor, who seems to be quite sweet, little bit nervous, like his feelings for her are genuine

but it's clear that my bro has other stuff going on, he's got an assistant guy who keeps reminding him to "stay on task" etc etc

(it feels very manipulative, like the line between master and assistant has been blurred, the doctor thinks he's in charge and calling the shots but the assistant is subtly manipulating him to do what he wants while letting the doctor think he is still in charge)

but yeah, they get married and theo and his mum is shipped off to a wonderful new wealthy lifestyle

but theo hates this guy, he knows that he's making his mum happy for now but he just doesn't trust it, especially the fact that he's also the mum's doctor, he already has a lot of power over her

also the doctor makes it clear that theo's attitude must be improved, to fit into their new high society life

so we open with the day before theo's 19th birthday

he's scared away yet another tutor due to his bad attitude (even though he technically is getting high marks)

and his step dad (who he is forced to call father) is not happy with him

it's clear from the get go that the doctor HATES theo, this is very much not a good relationship and theo hates the doctor as well

the doctor thinks theo's attitude is hurting the mum, theo thinks the doctor is putting too much pressure on him and is causing a rift between him and his mum (again, mommy issues)

anyway, the doctor tells theo that the mum had gone to town for a day, which theo finds highly suspicious cause like 1. she's ill how would she do that by herself and 2. she wouldn't leave the day before theo's birthday

the next day, the mum still hasn't returned, theo is obviously devastated

the maid attempts to cheer him up, which sort of works before she goes to the doctor's study to clean

what does she find in the doctor's study? a secret passage way.

what happens to her directly after she finds said secret passage way? she is hit over the head with a lamp and killed

theo comes running to find the maid dead and also (say it with me folks) gets hit over the head with a lamp

but not killed

he wakes up chained to like a prison cell in the basement

he is not doing well

but at least he was right! the doctor was evil!

so theo finds out that his mum is dead and the doctor has something to do with that death

but also that the doctor blames theo for the mum's death

(we find out later that the doctor accidentally gives the mum the wrong dose of medicine, so she passes out and hits her head, bleeding to death. the assistant encourages him to blame theo cause theo and the doctor had had an argument beforehand, which must've caused him to be distracted right)

then, theo wakes up to find his vocal chords have been cut - he cannot scream or make any noise

he is terrified, but he realises that the doctor sort of does have some weird freudian attachment to him because theo looks so much like the mum

so every night he whistles the tune that his mum used to play and the doctor sits in front of the cage and listens

one day he goes to wake up theo but can't so he panics and does what?

kisses him

HUH??? i hear you say. WHAT? and i agree

he then nearly sexually assaults him, until he flashes back to his own dad sexually assaulting him and is like OH WHAT THE FUCK WAS I ABOUT TO DO

(freud would have a FIELD DAY)

and then the assistant is like bro what about our work stop being weird about ur stepson

and then he's like oh yeah

so he sedates theo and then gives him a lobotomy

however, theo wakes up midway through the surgery, so it doesn't work

it turns out they wanted to make a human puppet that they could experiment on for medical reasons

as it happens, theo is normal for some of the time, but other times turns into a mindless puppet

the doctor is very annoyed and goes back to blaming him for the mum's death

and thus, ships him off to a mental hospital.

and that's where i got up to so far

I tried to re-"catch" the feelings I was having from watching Crash Course in Romance.

So, I looked into my deep watchlist and ended up with two very thoroughly enjoyable k-dramas that are re-watchable for a picky watcher like me. This is going to be long so read below if interested about the k-dramas Our Beloved Summer and Reply 1988

our beloved summer

I'm a sucker for slice-of-life stories. while this story navigates through different timelines, it expertly toes the line between the past and the present thus presenting a full growth for each character in this simple yet relatable story. i love the script. i especially love the ost which i listen to every day even after finishing this drama a couple of months back.

our beloved summer, adapted from a webtoon, is the story of Choi Woong and Kook Yoon-seo who became viral after starring in a documentary about the contrast of the top and worst student in their highschool. that alone makes you curious. it's a catchy premise and the whole story manages keep the premise alive until the end.

the story is simple and you can guess where the story is headed. but what made me stay is the pacing and the writing. and it being true to what it set out to do-- to say that love can be found in different people in different times. but there are special moments where you find a different love in the same person at a different time.

i can confidently say that Choi Wooshik and Kim Da-mi are both actors to watch out for. they are not just made for the small screen. they each have such a presence that can't just be contained in a small screen. or maybe i just loved their chemistry so much. it's not even that kind of chemistry where it will grip your heart but it's the work that they put on both characters to make them as authentic as possible. i was drawn in on how they portrayed Woong and Yoon-seo. i was drawn on why they did what they did that led to their eventual *spoilers ahead* break-up and subsequent marriage.

watch this if you're not too heartbroken and you like a slow paced stories that fleshes out human emotions particularly of love-- to a romantic partner, to a mother, to a friend, and to found family.

i particularly loved the way they blindsided me about the reason why Woong was the was he was and why in a way he couldn't open himself up completely to Yoon-seo made me fall in love with the writing. with the sheer amount of content and stories readily available for us to consume, you become so desensitised that it's sometimes a welcomed gift when you don't get to predict what happens in a story.

that particular scene where they get back together and Woong says "...please keep loving me," is engraved in my heart.

--the only downside to this wonderful drama is a 1/4 of a love quadrangle that is too green to handle a wonderful script like this one. you'll know what I'm talking about when you watch it.

2. reply 1988

i don't know what got me drawn to the works of the tandem director Shin Wonho and writer Lee Woo-jung but i am so glad that i am. i started with hospital playlist after seeing so much memes about it and now i can't imagine my life without hosplay (i still watch the whole thing like every month).

but i'm not here to talk about hosplay but the third installment of the critically acclaimed "reply" series.

Reply 1988 is the highest rated in tv ratings among all the "reply" series. and i can totally understand that as this show captures all the tales and woes of each generation.

i can say that the number 1 appeal of the Shin-Lee series' is the nostalgia and the bravery it takes to tackle the simplest yet the most constant worries of a human.

for the 3rd "reply" installment, it goes back to 1988, before the year looked funny (as you will see on one of the episodes). there definitely is something true about that as that's when all the technology in the world started to become accessible.

this show crept up to me (much like Prison Playbook). this was my second attempt at watching it since the first time made me drop it for being too "scream-y" which to be honest, a lot of shows are anyway. but what made me stay were the moms and dads. only did the last few episodes made me notice the actual gang of young misfits.

i loved the way it tackled real-world, real-family problems without being preachy. i love the way the pacing is so slow and nostalgic. i love the way all the families interacted with each other and with the other families.

don't come watching this show for the love story (although i absolutely loved who the main girl character ended up with). come watch this show if you enjoy stories about family dynamics.

--the only thing i didn't like (and this is just totally me), is how the noona who seems to be levelheaded fell in love with an immature child. maybe i was too salty to understand how it all went down but it just wasn't for me.
