Faith and Truth
Define truth...
Truths are simply stories we tell eachother whether factually correct or otherwise. To better explain my views I believe a scenario will suffice.
A father accuses son of stelling his car, his friend was with him at the time and is also called in as a witness. The son claims innocence, that he did not steal the car, but his friend claims the exact opposite. In that moment both are telling a version of a truth. It is the sons truth that he didn't steal the car, and so the friends truth that he did. The father is left to decide on which truth he believes to be "the most truthfull". He has no evidence to support either claim so is left with a moral decision, in other words, he is left to choose between the two truths. As no claim can be factually proven, both are telling the truth because the factual truth is unavailable.
There is a distinction in the scenario. The factual truth and the philosophical truth.
So, what does this have to do with faith you ask? Let me tell you...
Faith is a difficult topic to discuss in todays day and age as there is many controversies as to what is true and what isn't. On one hand, the scientific minds prove that faith is as far as we know factually untruth and as a counterbalance, believers claim faith or religion to be a philosophical truth.
But what is this statement building up to?
A great minded mad man once said, the oldest human emotion is fear and the most powerful fear is fear of the unknown. I find that to be quite poetic. You see a theory is that religion was formed to explain unexplainable events and occurrences. Now heres a fun paradox for the creationist out there.If we believe the previous statement to be true, factually or otherwise then:
The creator was formed in the minds and hearts of men who birthed "It" into existence only for "It" to create them.
To explain this further, one cannot exist without the other. If the creator was formed in the minds of men then who created the men? How could the creator create if "It" wasn't created itself yet?
Yeah sure, but what does that have to do with truth?
You dont understand yet do you? You see perhaps you believe in something that others do not believe in. Their truth is simply different from your truth but that doesn't make either less truthful as faith cannot be factually proven. Faith no matter what anyone says is an experience, some literal some supernatural but an experience non the less. Faith is more of an emotion that anything else, perhaps it's a bond or a relationship or perhaps it's state of being but within that relationship or state of being there is an unmistakable undefinable emotional experience.
And as for the afterlife, I believe that your believe is real and there is a place for all of us when we no longer breathe the sweet poluted air of our planet. If it is your truth, then who am I to call you a liar? I have not experienced what you have or opened my mind as you did. If in death your truth prevails, then I am the happiest man alive, because YOU'RE truth was truly truthfull.
So, Atheist, Christians, Buddhist and other, can we not agree to disagree and accept that there are different truths in this world? Can we not look beyond our bickering to see a collective truth? That no one of us is the same and should not be treated as if we are. Keep on believing, keep on seeking different truths because somewhere, somehow you will find yours.
