Dinner time in an Italian family is an abudanza of love. The meal, never ends. It seems like sometimes one meal runs into another, cause you sit there for so long, eating.

Family time is important to develop relationships with those you love, and it’s not just on holidays. You don’t necessarily have to eat at the same table like some people taut, cause I’m not a table eater myself. It depends on your lifestyle. I’m a movie watcher while I eat. We sit around, and talk, and laugh, and get mad, and yell, and shush one another, and half watch, and fully watch sometimes, movies while we eat. As long as you check in with one another, it doesn’t matter how you share the love. You can eat, you can watch movies, you can sit and have a starring contest, which I would immediately lose at, cause I suck at them, as long as you are doing it together.

Some Italians, at least in my family, spend a lot of their time, thinking, planning out, making, and eating good food. It’s a way we bond. But any quality time you spend trying, is a good way. Time is short in this day and age, so making time for the important people in your life is so imperative to creatung a good life for all involved. So connect how you can with the ones you love, and mangiare the love. You can never get too full... ❤️💪☺️

Ok, for those of you who are not Italian, let me explain to you a little bit about a lot of Italian women, specifically moms. They LOVE. A lot. You see the above photo? My ma, purchased most of this for us, TODAY! 700 cans of veggies, just in case an army came over, and I had to make 300 casseroles on the double! Or, 500 lbs. of ditalili, for the whole tri state area to partake in. This, is not even all. I didn’t photograph the rest. My ma, is a serial.... GIVER!

This all stemmed from a conversation she started, “I’m going to the store, do you need anything?” “No, ma. Thank you.” Is my usual answer. “Do you need pasta?” “No, thanks ma. We’re good.” “How about some angel hair for the baby?” “No, we’re ok, really.” I recieved 5 boxes of pasta. 🤣

Sometimes I joke about all the cookies and treats I want. Today, I needed more oat creamer. I now have enough oat creamer because of my ma, to last me until the next millennium. Her giving, never stops. ❤️

We’re very blessed and lucky to have her in our lives. She’s literally, the best, unless she’s teasing me with all this food, like reminding me to cook, which I don’t do often, or maybe she’s preparing us to be in a fall out shelter, cause you can never be too prepared, but we’d still need a can opener, for the 57,000 cans. But regardless of the reason why I was presented with all this food from my generous ma, we so appreciate it, and want to give to her as much as she gives to us.

Giving, is addictive. I love to make people happy, and give and do what I can to help, and I’m pretty sure I get that from my ma.

Oh Look! My ma made calzone! And lasagna! This pic, was her 5th calzone. She gave them all away. And they were all eaten within days! Check it out!

My ma, deserves love, and lots of it. And we are all loving people in the way we know how. There’s not much difference between a good Italian woman and any other woman, other than we may yell more. But overall, love shows up in all cultures, and genders, so eat it up when you can get it. ❤️🇮🇹😎💪

This is my gorrrrrgeous cousin Carmela’s fach. A fach, is Italian-American slang for a face. And she has a beautiful one. All of my family are great people. Carm has 2 (also gorgeous) sisters. And I love them all a lot. Carm has been one of my best friends what seems like forever. We’re 6 months apart in age, and we used to hang out a lot. We have a lot in common. We love to laugh about randy things, we love comedies, and having fun.

Carm will always be one of my favorite people. We have our own families and lives, but we will always have our great memories, and our connection. And, European vacation, the movie, although her and I on a European vacation in real life, would be a whole bunch of trouble... 🙈😈🤪🥸❤️🇮🇹💪

Ok, full disclosure: I’ve been a very BAD lil Italian lady... My favorite Italian bakery, Dominos pastries, closed a long time ago, and I have never bothered to replace it, because there are 2 other bakeries that I frequent that are not italian, but so good that I can’t help but get pastries there. They are Reuters bakery and Weber’s bakery both in Chicago proper. And, I also have the best Italian baker in my family already, my Ma, so I wasn’t in a huge hurry to search for pasteries. BUT, I do aim to change all that! So let’s explore the Chicago lands best (according to google) Italian bakeries! (We’ll see. I’ll let you know, as I have not tried them yet... 😉🇮🇹💪)

First before we begin we must discuss the difference between an Italian bakery and the others. The Italian bakeries must have Italian cookies, lots of anise flavors, and all basically look the same, and taste the same... but delicious! I’m going to learn with you, so I will google it now, and see what the main cookies are called. My Nana worked at a bakery for years, so i should also know all about it.
