From "Surtur the Fire Demon!" in Journey into Mystery #99, December 1963. Stan Lee script, Jack Kirby pencils, George Roussos inks, Stan Goldberg(?) colors, Artie Simek letters.
At the world's end sat Surtur, the demon of fire, who waited, with his flaming sword, for the end of the world, when he might go forth to destroy gods and men alike!
Avengers #61 was a lot of fun! I like this lineup of Black Panther, Vision, Hawkeye, Black Knight and Doctor Strange! It was cool to have it be without Cap, Iron Man, Hulk or Thor! I’m not reading Avengers at this point so idk the status of the team or why those characters weren’t there (it would’ve made sense if Thor would’ve been there though). Doctor Strange doing surgery felt like a big moment and I loved seeing him do it successfully! God, seeing the art which was done by a master like John Buscema was such a treat. His art is so fucking awesome. This was a nice change of pace from Doctor Strange’s solo series to experience a team book. Onward to #180 of Doctor Strange!
