but wholesome goth boy x feral flower boy YES YES YES I LOVE THIS ALREADY, AU UNDER THE CUT

let's start off with izuku.

he owns a small (but very well known) tattoo parlor in the city he lives in. he majored in art in college and has been doodling since he was in middle school so he has notebooks just calk full of designs and sketches for tattoos that he tears pages from to put up around the shop.

the only design he doesn't have just aimlessly floating around is this one that's extremely important to him since he won an art contest with it in his freshman year of high school (it started him on his path to being an artist) and it's framed and hung on the wall behind the counter

the said design was a sort of couples pairing (meant to be put on the insides of one's wrist and a bit of their forearm and when two people pressed their wrists together side by side it would match up. it could be described as a very intricate and detailed drawing of two roses that branch off the same steam in the middle of the tattoo, and the steam wrapped around the two roses in a spiral that was covered with thorns and leaves but it never touched the two roses.

anyways, izuku never did that design on anyone no matter how many couples that'd ask if he'd do it. it was just his own sort of personal thing, and he was saving it to do it on himself and his soulmate (if he ever found them)

so that's that, people would come and they could choose any other of his original designs around the shop (or bring in their own) and he'd happily give it to them. though he dressed in dark clothes and had dozens of tattoos, making him look like a bit of a tough/mean person, he was actually one of the nicest shop owners in town. everyone was always so surprised when they heard him start rambling on about his designs then get embarrassed as he caught himself doing so, honestly, it was adorable and everyone thought so.

now, on to katsuki.

katsuki runs a flower shop right across the street from Izuku, he opened only a month ago (bc he just moved here) and it was already starting to get popular.

now, Katsuki wasn't exactly a k i n d shop owner. he wore soft pastel colors a lot but he was big and muscly and had clear tattoos on his neck and upper arms which made him look like a sort of- soft thug? but he was very much feral. he'd call his customers extras and often give regulars nicknames. such as one girl he nicknamed 'bubble gum' because she wore a lot of pink and had pink hair, she'd come to buy flowers for their girlfriend often.

even though he's mean, god does he have the most beautiful arrangements of flowers. so the people that live in the city look past all his grumpiness (some even find it kinda charming and manage to get to know him a bit better.)

plus, there's one specific thing that he has that almost no other plain flower shop sells. black roses.

no one exactly knows how he always gets his hands on them, due to the price and rarity, but he always somehow has a few carefully placed black as night roses in a vase on the counter.

how did the two meet/get together?

well, remember those black roses? a certain perky little goth boy happens to absolutely adore them. honestly he really just loves roses but the black ones draw him in due to them being well, goth.

so, izuku skips over to katsuki's shop every week or so and his visits are always in the morning right when the shop opens so izuku can open his right after. since he visits in the morning, he always has to deal with an even more grumpy morning katsuki, but he doesn't mind at all. he comes in, perky as ever, and cheerfully hops to the counter to order the same thing each time.

"One black rose please, Baka- Baku.. Kat-katchu- uh.. oh lord I'm so sorry, uhm.. oh! How bout Kacchan? Yeah! One black rose please, Kacchan!"

"...'Kacchan'?! Really?! Who the fuck do you think you are?!"

"I'm Midoriya! Izuku Midoriya, Heh!"

"If that's spelled how I'd guess it is, wouldn't it be kinda similar to 'useless'?"

"I uh- uhm, I suppose so..?"

"Let's see here.. useless little goth boy... hm..."

"Wha-"

"Oh I know. Deku."

"D-deku? You're really gonna call me that?"

"Yeah. Gotta problem with it, nerd?!"

"No!- No... I guess not-"

"Good, now take your rose and leave."

"A-alright... thanks... Kacchan!"

and that's that. izuku learns to get used to katsuki's teasing and nicknames, and katsuki decides to just ignore the fact that he's being called 'kacchan', such a petname like nickname, by a complete stranger

at one point, katsuki asked why izuku always came to get a new black rose every week and izuku simply gave an embarrassed laugh and explained that:

"well... i uh just really like these..! they're so pretty don't you think? plus I put the one I get every week into a vase of water and use it as a uh reference for tattoos..."

"and you need a new one every damn week?!"

"ahaha- well- i'm uh... not the best at flower keeping... plus they're much prettier fresh, you know?"

katsuki rolled his eyes at the explanation, truth be told izuku just didn't want to admit he wanted an excuse to come see the blond every week. though izuku wasn't alone, katsuki didn't say anything else because HE honestly also enjoyed the greenette coming to his shop

anyways I'm getting way too invested in this so let's wrap it up

katsuki and izuku get to know each other a bit better as they go to each other's shops. one time katsuki went to izuku's shop to get a back tattoo (that took fucking hours) so they had PLENTY of time to have an actual conversation for once and they actually had some pretty deep ones, it ended with katsuki begrudgingly pointing out the framed tattoo design, commenting on how pretty and detailed it was. of course, izuku went on a small flustered ramble about it before getting stopped by katsuki laughing and telling him to "calm down there, pretty boy." honestly just making izuku more flustered with katsuki finding it amusing as fuck. he ended up scribbling down his number quickly on a stray piece of paper to hand to izuku before heading out the shop with his classic smirk.

and shit happened yada yada yada got to know each other a bit more through text and izuku ended up asking katsuki out on a date at one point. so katsuki showed up at izuku apartment on the night of the date with a whole bouquet of black roses for his goth boy.

they decided to try a relationship and it ended up getting pretty serious. one day izuku dragged his boyfriend over to his shop and forced him to sit down so he could start working on getting his important design onto the two of them.

"Wait- really?! With me?! You sure, Deku..?"

"Yes, I'm sure. Now shut up and stay still so I can do this right, dummy-"

this will, by no means, be an eloquent rant but...

I kind of don’t like how we’re starting to engage with media so intensely, to the point of sending death threats to someone for fictional ships/headcanons. I understand that certain things make different people uncomfortable and people have to curate their spaces, but not everything has to be a fucking callout post??? You don’t have to harass people for fictional shit??

It’s like people forget they can just block/mute people without engaging or making a whole announcement. They immediately tweet shit out to their followers, which wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t written like a callout post. Now you’ve got a bunch of people going on attack mode and telling THEIR followers not to interact for some stupid shit until someone inevitably decides it’s time to bully.

For example, me, I can’t stand baku//deku. Bakugou was an abusive little shit in the early chapters and I just...don’t care for the ship. If it bothered me any more, I’d mute or block posts about it. Now imagine I made a post that said “block X artist, they draw baku//deku which is an abusive ship” to my thousands of followers. Now those people start seeing X as a problematic artist because...some ship art made me uncomfortable. How is that ever okay??

Earlier this year, there was an artist I started following that drew trans madoka and homura and they got dogpiled by r4d//fems for “erasing lesbian rep” and ofc these transphobic bitches had to bring out the pedophilic accusations because they needed moral justification for their bigotry. All over a fucking drawing.

Idk, I’m just tired of seeing so many artists that mind their own business getting harassed for something as stupid as fictional shit, while literal fucking abusers/racists/etc are defended.

Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?

oooo very good question! i try to live under the philosophy of 'never say never', in that if i've given smth some thought, i'll never say that i'd never come back to it, but i do have a handful of ideas that i've definitely set aside for the time being. i'm a firm believer in following wherever inspiration strikes, so if i'm not vibing with an idea at the moment, i'll set it aside and return to it if/when i feel like it or get some new ideas (or fresh brainrot lmao)

and i say 'never say never' because i first had the idea for 'here's our own hands against our hearts' back in may of 2021, and i didn't even start writing it til september, and ofc i didn't finish/start posting til december

so, in no particular order, some concepts i've set aside for the moment and hope to return to some day:

(bnha) immortal baku who's stuck with the only other immortal, deku, to help him figure out how to break the curse of immortality. on par with canon, baku very much detests deku :) enemies to lovers style

(genshin from here on out) struggling artist kaeya who lucks into an encounter with renowned art connoisseurs zhongluc, healing and self love ensues

murder husbands zhongchi from the 'to love (and be loved in return) universe, both the getting-together past aspects and the plot after kaeluc's story

a kaeluc tarot fic that follows the progression of the tarot major arcana as inspiration for plot points during a canon-divergent au

Lovesick Fool expanded modern teyvat au, zhongchi getting together fic

dragon zhongli x phoenix diluc

a scene from hoohaoh (x) where childe and diluc talk about how diluc's father might've come into possession of a delusion - it felt a little more heavily focused on some diluc trauma and healing that didn't quite fit with the rest of the story

diluc tricking his roommate kaeya into thinking he's a hot tinder date coming over soon so kaeya will actually clean the house, but kaeya...actually falls for this 'date' pretty hard...

actual pirate kaeya with stowaway childe - canon-divergent au where kaeya's sort of captain of the mond fleet, docked in liyue when childe's escaping the millileth

xiaoven where xiao finally chases after the little spark that floats away from him in his idle only to discover that it's venti

the actual original scene i had in mind that 'to love (and be loved in return)' (x) began to revolve around was a soft kaeluc scene in the hidden-away library where kaeya first showed diluc his magic, and it's also where they first kissed 'for real'...ofc, that never made it into the story, as it evolved quite a lot in other directions lmao

tl(ablir) actually had a LONG history of struggling with the main plot in the background - i went back and forth on crepus being the main antagonist, kaeya's father being the antagonist, the abyss being the antagonist, and so on. intentional and unintentional, in some cases, it went on quite a lot, but none of those concepts really fit the story i wanted to tell

oh another from tl(ablir) - kaeya getting just a little Too Drunk and diluc pushes him too far, implies that he doesn't care about his people (this ended up not fitting well with what i'd established between them). this was going to be his dialogue for the scene:

they have been dying since before i was born i know that they're dying they're dying right now and i can do nothing to stop it. do you think it even occurred to me to refuse your father's offer if it meant helping my people? do you think i drink for FUN? you must think me immeasurably callous if you assume i do not care that my people suffer for our ancestor's mistakes. you must think me heartless, then. and i'd rather be, than face for even a moment the overwhelming grief of so many dead while i sit here in your cushy palace, comfortable and safe

there are also some other ideas that i haven't quite decided to set aside just yet, but who knows when exactly they'll crop up lmao

That honestly depends on a lot of factors - which tools I’m using, how many characters there are in the drawing/if it’s full body or not, how used to drawing the character I am, how big is the canvas, if I already have a clear idea of what I mean to draw or not, how precise I want to be with lines and stuff.

That Yuuto sketch I posted yesterday took me about 40 minutes I think, and over half of it was spent trying to figure out how I was supposed to draw him since it was the first time I drew him - the tools I used are the ones I use when I want to be fast and don’t care about being sloppy. A small random Kirishima bust properly lined and colored could take me five minutes to sketch and line and as many to color on a good day, cause I’ve drawn him so many times by now I don’t even have to think to draw him. Deku, on the other hand, can take me an hour even just to sketch, I can’t seem to grasp how I’m supposed to draw him at all.

Sorry, it really depends on a lot of things, I can’t give a proper answer to this :(

You know people really say "oh Baku coukd have got the small fish in a big pound storyline" and yeah great but Izu could have gotten a better storyline "I realize you're my abuser and I'm no longer defending you"

Like imagine Izu realizing how people start treating him different bc of his quirk. Imagine Izu slowly comes to terms Baku is toxic.

Just imagine Izu realizing heroes are flawed even AM - I know he, in canon, face AM but...it was one time and they didn't address the elephant in the room- and realizing heroes and villains are humans.

Now imagine Izu seeying the good and the bad. STILL CHOSES KINDNESS

You know, I saw a ppst saying how bk WAS setup for a redemption bc how Izu didn't react negatively to how bk treated him day 1.

Which yes is an interesting take but to me, in my humble mind, I don't think is true.

Let's look at our mc! If our mc doean't think a person suiciding baiting him is bad...wouldn't that mean HE should get a character development ?

Why Bk needs to be redeem? Accept that he is a terrible person who is in UA, he was a hero for the fame and there's NOTHING disproving this.

But Izu being compassionate and empathic is great through WHY CAN'T BE KIND WITH HIMSELF?

Why must he have to carry bk's useless weight on his back?

Note: I'm not saying Izu should murder bk, just let bk face danger alone...all I'm saying is why Izu needs to have his abuser attached to him? Why Izu must feel like he's obligated to share anything with bk?

Even in fics...this happens, like god damnit! Even in shigadeku. I just read one where bk say they are bros...and while we are supposed to seen as a cute moment ...HE STILL CALL IZU USELESS.

So my question for the fandom is: WHY CAN'T WE RESPECT IZU'S TRAUMA?

Everyone makes excuses for bk but no one offer consolation to Izu....

You know...I'm upset enough with a certain mamga that made me take a walk on memory lake, so to speak.

I remember an artist on DA (rip) who made comics about the ship Jilly and an Oc for Sirius Black.

Anyway, one comic I remember is Sev trying to confess to Lily but James moved the stars making him fall bc "what a charming fellow🙃"

And then I wonder: Lames if you ship is so OTP why you need to ridicule Snape? I never saw a fic of this ship where Snape isnt a "creep" or ridiculed.

Like...I dont like Hinny ( movie and book version) but there no passage where Harry has the need to humiliate Draco bc why not?
