Been getting tagged in all kinds of posts and popular TikToks of people using AI voice clones of my FNAF characters to have them sing or say all kinds of random stuff. You might think it's fun. But really it's contributing to the problem all VAs are facing in the wake of AI. The more these AI voice clones get used, the more they're normalized, and the more businesses see it as a viable alternative to real VAs when making content for you. Slowly but surely, most of your favourite VAs will be out of work. Not to mention what this will cost in terms of future generations of VAs. Incredible performances we'll never get to experience because most businesses will more often than not go for the cheapest, quickest option as soon as the technology is up to scratch. This is made even worse by the fact that we currently have very few legal protections against the unauthorized use of our voices using AI. And we're being pressured to waive those too, for a fraction of their worth. This is one of the big reasons the current strikes are a thing. If you enjoyed my work in FNAF and have any respect for the amount of time and effort VAs put into bringing characters to life, don't use AI voice clones in your fanart. I can't express how violated I feel every time I hear my voice say words that aren't my own. And just in case it wasn't clear - I have never consented to having my voice, likeness or any of my performances synthesized into AI voices/avatars etc.

what people think pro ship means: dangerous people who want to harm children in real life and/or think taboo subjects in real life are justified

what pro ship actually is about: the belief that people are allowed to enjoy fictional thing however they want, as long as it's fictional and no one in real life gets harmed or harassed in any way, and as long as they tag their trigger warnings properly.

most pro ship folks I've come across are just "hey, you like this fucked up thing that is fictional? okay, cool. you do you, man. I myself don't even like this thing that you like, but hey, it's not real. and I trust that you know the difference between fiction and reality, so you do you. if it ever gets too much for me, I will just block or mute you and move on with my life, but that doesn't mean I think you're a horrible person in real life because of the fictional thing you like, it just means I'd rather not see or engage with this thing that can make me uncomfortable. I still want you to have fun doing what you love, and I still think you're cool as fuck. love and respect, dude"

meanwhile most anti ship I've seen are like "omg you like this fictional thing where fictional children are harmed??! Red Flag Red Flag. put this gross piece of shit behind bars immediately!!!"

and I'm just ????? I don't normally engage in fandom wars, but I think, as long as you don't harass anyone in real life and as long as no one in real life is in danger or is harmed, how you enjoy fictional things is none of my business. and I'm not gonna make any "call out post" where I encourage my followers to harass you because you like fucked up fictional things that I personally don't like or believe is wrong either.

I mean, from personal experience, I was exposed against my will to thing I didn't want to see from anti's screenshot of fanart or fanfic where they encourage their followers to harass this person whose fanart or fanfic, that was screenshot and spread by them, was originally tagged properly with all the trigger warnings so that people who didn't want to see it wouldn't get exposed to it. until anti screenshot it and flaunted it around in the name of being morally superior while also, at the same time, advocated for the witch hunt against someone who just wanted to mind their own business. so... the irony. lol

fandoms used to be more peaceful before Fandom Police starts their witch hunting, but it's a good thing we can just block these people and keep on enjoying our blorbos however we want to enjoy them.

and I'll always encourage every artist to write whatever they want, draw whatever they want. don't let people who think they're "morally superior" tell you you can't make art this way or that way. my best advice would be to block and ignore and keep on creating what you want. they may be loud, but at the end of the day they're just noises and they're not worth your attention x

I've seen a lot of Usopp art lately, but some artists drew him in a way I thought everyone knew was racist, so I want to explain for those who don't know. I'm not calling out anyone in particular, but I won't interact with art that portrays him this way on principle, no matter how much love goes into it.

Usopp’s lip design in the one piece anime and manga is racist. This has been said many times before. It is based on racist caricatures used to insult black people, and minstrel show makeup used to imitate them.

I don't know if Oda has spoken on this before, but I can't find anything on it if he did. I don't know his intentions with drawing Usopp like this, because he draws lips normally on characters like Kuzan, and draws loop lips on non black characters. But whatever the logic, it is best if you don't draw Usopp as a racist caricature.

These are examples of the type of cartoons the loop lip was used in. The design is meant to make fun of and exaggerate traditionally african facial features. It is insulting to draw black characters like this, especially when they're one of the few characters of color in the reoccurring cast.

"AI art" isn't made by AI, it's built with theft, and it has serious creative limits

AI art is the subject en vogue right now, at least in the circles that I run. And it's a complex thing - the technology itself is really just an evolution of the same machine learning that shows you banner ads on websites or decides which YouTube videos to recommend, but because it's called "AI" - "artificial intelligence" people get suckered into all kinds of very bad arguments about the nature of creativity and what really counts as plagiarism.

The tl;dr is this: human minds do not run on binary code, and these machine learning models are not AI, they are machine learning models. They are built with untold gigabytes of training data, consisting of photos and artwork that was used without permission, and however you want to slice that, that is theft. Being machine learning, they inherit the biases and limitations of the data they're trained on, and that puts hard limits on how creative it is possible to be using these tools and introduces a massive trend towards homogenization and the lowest common denominator.

There's a much longer historical precedent for what these tools represent, though: AI art is a form of automation, and you can find a much longer discussion of what that means and what the consequences are...
