This is basically a smut drabble of Beefy! bucky so enjoy
Also, shout to @imyourbratzdoll for this haha
"Yes, yes please baby, fuck..."  you moaned as bucky moves his hips in and out of you, "You like that, doll?" he whispers in your ear as he increases his pace. You can't help the small whimper that leaves your throat as you feel his cock start to penetrate deep inside you.
“ F-Fuck yes, right there don't stop!” your hand finds his long brown hair and you tugged him down to meet your lips.  He's quick to attack your mouth and establish his dominance. The way his lips feel against yours mixed with his movement, has you reaching your climax.
“Bucky I'm going to cumm,” you screamed as you pull away from his mouth. Bucky can feel your pussy gripping tighter on his length. “ Same, I won’t last long with the way you feel around me. Fuck Doll! ” Both your moans filled the air as your body shook. You wrapped your legs around Bucky’s waist trapping him as he fucked you through your orgasm.
Bucky felt his orgasm approaching, he let out a growl from deep in his throat and began roughly slamming his hips into yours, forcing a sharp gasp from you. Your back arched off the bed as your head fell back into the pillows. He made you orgasm again at that moment.
His eyes were closed, and strands of his wet hair stuck to his face as he slumped on top of you after releasing his cum inside of you. You reclined and gently rubbed your fingertips along his back. The air was thick with the sound of labored breathing and the scent of sex. It was quite filthy.
After some while, he snapped open his eyes and took your hand into his. "Love you so much, you are incredible, beautiful, and insatiable, plus you let me creampie you," he said laughing at his last remarks. You chuckle as you lean in kissing him, gently and nibbling on his soft bottom lip. "I love you too, Bucky, and of course I did, I intended that when I told you I wished for you to fill me up." You both laughed as you enjoyed this blissful moment.

Eternally (Bucky Barnes x Reader) Part 1/?
Author’s Note: Hey guys! I’m really excited for this fic, it’s been a while since I’ve written for Bucky! This series is for @mermaidxatxheart ’s follower celebration, and it takes inspiration from the Jonas Brothers’ song Lovebug. This fic has flashbacks, which appear in italics, and they don’t always appear in chronological order. Everything that’s typed in normal font, though, is chronological. I don’t know how much this description makes sense, but it will when you read it! I really hope you guys enjoy, and let me know if you want to be tagged! :)
Summary: Adjusting to life in 1940s Brooklyn, you hope that everything will go smoothly. However, that’s not how life works. And according to that logic, it makes sense that you forgot your lunch on the first day of your new job.
Warnings: Fluff
Other Characters: Skinny!Steve
Word Count: 1,336

“Just perfect,” you sigh. You rummage through your purse looking for your lunch, only to remember that you left it on the counter at home. Just how you want your first day of work to go.
“Minnie, I’m going to take my lunch break,” you tell one of the nurses. “Any suggestions where to go? I forgot my lunch, and I don’t really have a hankering for hospital food.”
“There is an amazing diner a half block down,” she tells you. “Delicious burgers and a delicious busboy.”
“Good to know, Minnie,” you tell her as you grab the coat off the back of your chair. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
You take a quick stroll down the sidewalk and easily find Sharona’s Diner. As you enter, you see all different groups of people. There are teenagers by the jukebox, elderly couples in booths, businessmen at the front counter, and everything else sitting at the tables. You find an empty seat at the end of the counter and pick up the menu.
“First time here, huh?” you hear a rich, raspy voice say to your left.
“Is it that obvious?” you shyly chuckle, turning your attention from the menu to the voice. He’s wearing a tight off-color t-shirt, grey slacks, and is resting a dish tray on his hip. This must be the busboy that Minnie told me about. She was right, he is very delicious.
“Well, if you want my opinion,” he says, “you can’t go wrong with the All-Star Burger. Tell you what, if you get it and don’t like it, I’ll buy you a chocolate shake.”
“You’re on,” you smirk.
You do as he suggests and order the burger, and you am not let down. It has to be the best burger you’ve ever had. When you’re halfway through lunch, he passes by again.
“So?” he asks.
You swallow before speaking. “Amazing,” you tell him.
“Told ya,” he smirks. “How ‘bout I still get you that chocolate shake? Gotta have something to push it down.”
“No, no. It’s alright, I—.”
“No, I insist. Give me one second.”
You are about to protest further as he walks away, and you feel a small blush rise to your cheeks. Soon enough, he brings you a milkshake and a basket of fries.
“What’s with the fries?” you ask.
“I figured you seem l like a girl willing to take a risk. My friend Steve can’t get past the idea of dipping fries in a chocolate shake. Now me on the other hand, I think it’s delicious. I want you to be the tiebreaker.”
“Oh?”
“Well, you have good taste. You listened to me, after all.”
“Alright,” you say, picking up a french fry. He follows suit and dips a fry in with you, and you put it into your mouths at the same time.
“So?” he asks again.
“You’re right once again,” you chuckle. “It’s quite good.”
He breaks into a large smile and chuckles, looking down at the counter. “I, uh, guess I should get back to work.”
“I guess I should, too,” you say, looking down at your watch. “My lunch break is just about over. Can I get the rest of the shake and fries to go?”
“Of course.”
He takes care of the rest of your lunch while you pay the bill.
“There you go, doll,” he smiles.
“Thank you—,” you start, but are promptly cut off.
“Barnes!” a loud man shouts from the kitchen, and you can only assume it’s his boss. “Stop flirting with the customers and do your job!”
His smiles slowly fades and he looks down and sighs. “Yes, sir!” he responds. But before he leaves he turns back to you. “Meet me back here when my shift is over?”
“When’s that?”
“4:00.”
You bite your lip and hesitate. “We’ll see,” you tell him, taking the rest of your lunch and walking out the diner.
Tumblr media
“You seem extra happy,” Minnie says as you hand my coat on my chair. “I’m guessing you went to the diner?”
“Yes I did,” you tell her. “Everything was delicious.”
“And the busboy? I’m assuming he’s the reason for your leftovers.”
“He was very sweet.”
“Sweet? He’s a dreamboat. Every girl in Brooklyn wants to be on his arm.”
“Not this one,” you tell her.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. Did you not see his face?”
“Yes I did, Minnie. I just can’t let myself get involved with anyone.”
You can tell that she wants to say more, but she lets the subject drop as you both go back to work. Throughout the day, you find yourself looking at the clock, waiting for 4 o’clock to come. The thing is, you couldn’t meet the man from the diner even if you wanted too—your shift ends at 5:00. But whatever you’re feeling for him, it needs to stop. You don’t care if it’s a feeling for friendship, romance, even a food guide, you cannot get connected in any way. If you stay in one place too long, the consequences will not work out in your favor.
“Dot?” you hear Minnie say as if she’s been trying to catch your attention for a long time.
“I’m sorry,” you say, shaking your head. “L-Lost in my thoughts, that’s all.”
“Time to go home,” she smiles, adjusting her scarf. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight, Minnie,” you tell her.
You put all your files in order and hand them off to the next round of nurses on shift before grabbing your things and making your way out of the hospital and into the crisp Brooklyn air. You make your way down the busy New York streets, trying to not get too jostled around.
“I’m telling you, Stevie, it’ll be fun,” you hear a familiar voice say.
You look up and see the busybody from the diner and a suit and tie, his hair quaffed up as he talks to a shorter blond friend of his. At that moment, he looks up and locks eyes with you, a large smile quickly spreading on his face.
“Well hello again,” he smiles.
“Hello,” you greet.
“I thought you stood me up on my offer.”
“I didn’t get out of work until just now.”
“I’m afraid I never properly introduced myself back at the diner. I’m Bucky.”
He extends his hand for you to shake it, and you do something you swore you’d never do: “(Y/N).” You look between him and Steve. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt your evening—.”
“No, no, you’re not interrupting,” Bucky says with a smile.
“Believe me, you’re not,” Steve says. “Tell you what, Buck. I’ll go back to our place and you can hit the town with (Y/N) instead.”
“But I promised you—.”
“I don’t need a girlfriend, Buck. Honestly. I’ll see you around. It was very nice to meet you, (Y?N).”
Before you can protest, Steve pats Bucky on the back and disappears in the busy sidewalk.
“That man is so stubborn,” Bucky sighs.
“He seems like a good friend,” you smile.
“He’s the best. He’s like my brother.”
“So where were you going before I so rudely interrupted?”
“Lil’ Mo and Kiki’s Jazz Club. The poor guy doesn’t know how to dance. I was hoping I could find someone there to teach him.”
“Aren’t you sweet,” you tease.
“Have you had dinner yet?” he asks, changing the subject.
“I was on my way home to make something.”
“How about I take you out for a bite,” he smiles.
“Two meals in one day?”
“Well, whatdya say?”
You hesitate and sigh. “I really shouldn’t, Bucky. I’ve got to get home.”
“Are you expecting company?”
“Well, no—.”
“Is there someone waiting at home for you?”
“No—.”
“No special fella?”
“No—.”
“Then I say we go out.”
“You’re not going to stop until I say yes, are you?”
“I’ve been told from time to time that I’m stubborn,” he smirks impishly.
“Fine,” you smile. “So, you were going dancing?”

STEVE was the one who tightened your velcro backpack around your small shoulders.
You continued to stare into the rising sun behind the blowing trees. It must’ve been a little after 5 AM, since the orange clouds were beginning to mix in with the dark blue of a new sky, announcing the arrival of a brand new day.
Today was the first day of your mission with Bucky, and to say you were fixated on your ultimate goal was an understatement.
The camp didn’t have a running shower, but they had a secluded and private area off to the side that provided warm water and some soap made with lye and lard. The water had to be heated up overnight by an attended fire and then left for an hour before you had to get ready to let it cool down.
When one of the girls had handed you the freshly made bar, the look she gave you scared you.
She had a certain fear in them that you couldn’t quite place and it shook you to the bone.
Was she unhopeful for your return?
When you had entered the little shower, which was just four pieces of wood tall enough to cover your most intimate areas, and you dunked your mud cup into the warm water, you definitely felt like you were being prepared like a sacrificial lamb.
You felt like you were being cleansed and prepared for death.
But as you rinsed away the lye off your skin, and you shuddered against the cold winter air which was beginning to feel like sharp knives, you quickly shoved those thoughts away.
You had to focus on your goal and what it was you were actually being prepared for. This was your opportunity to give your parents what they deserve; the outcome they would want.
After your shower, you quickly dried yourself off with a long and grey rag that had been draped over the “door” for you, and you slid your arms into your heavy coat.
Quickly, to avoid getting the flu that could potentially kill you faster than any other virus ever could, you ran into your tent and slid on your attire.
It was the same one you had worn before you arrived, but Jessica had been extremely kind to you and had it washed and folded stacked neatly next to your cot.
After you zipped on your boots, Steve had shown up and ran the information with you before your departure.
None of you knew exactly how life in The Capitol was.
There had been just one agent who had ever been close enough, and it had been about a year ago.
Bucky had sent Sharon to collect information that would be vital to help their mission, including how the people in The Capitol dressed, how they wore their hair, how they behaved, and if they used any kind of special currency.
Apparently, the clothing they wore, you would have to buy when you got there. It would be possible for the camp to try and knit them so that when you arrived you would fit in right away, but unfortunately, it would not protect you during the three-day walk to get there.
There was nothing different regarding hair or currency, which was a very helpful piece to learn. It meant you and Bucky would not need to go under any crazy makeovers.
Any specific makeup look or hairdo you preferred, you were free to do as you pleased when you arrived.
The only tricky part of getting into The Capitol and not being caught was your identification.
Anyone who resided within The Wall carried a hologram ID that presented your picture, name, resident number, and occupation.
If there was anything Tony Stark left behind, it was his knowledge and technology that had been left behind and protected.
You don’t know how they managed to save nearly all of it from the war and the bombing, but you didn’t ask questions. It didn’t surprise you that the avengers would go through such measures to have a legacy and vital equipment protected.
It had been just enough for Bruce to take it into his own hands and build an almost identical replica of the hologram ID that you and Bucky would need to present in order to do simple tasks like request a hotel room or enter an important building.
You didn’t take Bruces’ hard work for granted; apparently it had taken almost a year and a half just for him to make them.
It would still be a risk when you used your identification because even though your resident number was chosen with an advanced Linux method if it were to hit a miss in Hydra’s system, you and Bucky could be screwed.
Your arrival in the city would simply be accepted by luck.
Steve continued to tighten your backpack as he reminded you of what would happen when you and Bucky both arrived there.
First and utmost important, you would need to find a place to live. According to Sharon, there was a residency area not too far from the center of the city. You would go there and try to get a room.
Next, you and Bucky would need to discover your surroundings.
What was Hydra doing there? Where is Hydra’s main building? Were there anyone there that could possibly be there against their will? How did The Capitol work? What was life there like?
You would then need to set up your false identity, which would be the majority of the mission.
Once you both found where Hydra’s main focus was and from where they worked, you would need to find your way in. You would need to gather as much intel and information about everyone as much as you could.
That is when the team had presented you with an additional ID card, except this one was physical and just a regular white laminated card.
It was a resumé and well thought out employment card, which you and Bucky would use to apply at a Hydra Facility (but not the same one to not induce suspicion). This was an important key to the mission that both you and Bucky were reluctant on participating on, but after much consideration, it was concluded it was essential to winning this.
After you found out everything you both needed to know, after the six months, you would both escape and return to camp with the intel and information gathered that could successfully bring The Capitol’s society down.
One of them being the ring leader’s location. It would be important to the mission to not have anything destroyed, especially The Wall.
This was the part of the mission you did not like.
Because you would not leave The Capitol without having that man from the diner killed.
Part of you felt bad for secretly planning how to divert the avenger’s plan, but at the same time, you now knew that Bucky was also planning something that could potentially shock everyone.
You considered saying something to Steve as he made sure you had everything in your pack - food, blankets, med kit, and a gun with a silencer (the only thing you were allowed) - but you went against it as you remembered your promise to him.
He wanted you to help Bucky love himself again and to feel like he was meant for something more.
As you both walked out of the tent and fully into the outside world, right away you saw Bucky already strapping his own bag over his shoulder.
You know his bag held the same things yours did, except his held a military gun that would serve to protect you during the walk.
Unfortunately, you would not be allowed to take any weapons with you into the city. They would be left dug into a hole and abandoned.
Your heart skipped in your chest as you observed his dominating aura.
He wore attire similar to yours, except a male version. He had a black coat with a hood that strapped across the front of his chest. Attached to it was a hood similar to yours. You could tell he had layers of clothing under his jacket for protection, and his pants were thick and tucked into heavy boots.
A pair of leather gloves covered his hands. He was tightening the one over his metal arm when he looked over at you.
His eyes were dark and his teeth clenched as he looked you up and down. You quickly looked away and back at Steve.
Steve was tightening your tracker around your wrist.
“Remember, this will only keep you off their radar for ninety seconds and it can only be activated twice. You can only use it when you enter and leave the city,” you were in a daze as you felt the need to look up at Bucky again. The pull was inevitable, “Y/N,” Steve’s tone was sturdy and you blinked at him, “Got it?”
He looked at you apprehensively, his grip tight over your hand. You swallowed thickly and nodded.
“Got it. Just twice. Entering and leaving.”
He nodded and pulled the sleeves of your coat halfway up both hands.
He gave you one more look and then nodded with his head towards Bucky, backing away from you, and walking towards Bucky’s direction.
You flexed your toes in your boots and held tightly onto the handles of your bag.
You took a deep breath and followed Steve towards Bucky.
Bucky looked at his boots and flexed his hands.
You didn’t realize how much bigger he was than you until now. Maybe it was his clothing, maybe.
You cleared your throat and he looked up at you through heavy lashes.
You wondered where he had been this morning while you were showering. It’s then that you catch sight of his heavy and dark bags under his eyes. Had he been up all night?
“Didn’t sleep?” Your question comes out before you mean it to and Bucky’s gaze quickly darkens.
“No.”
You sigh deeply, not knowing if you were more annoyed by his attitude towards you that clearly hadn’t changed or if you felt bad. You hoped his lack of sleep wouldn’t create more crankiness or mess-ups.
“Unlike you, I don’t need it.” He adds. He looks up towards the sky, making his sharp jaw visible to you and you curse the world for making him so attractive. You wondered then what kind of boyfriend he was to Daisy. And you wonder about the rumor of him and the Wakanda girl. Did he sleep with her? Was he good? Your questions in your head are interrupted as he continues, “We should get going. The sun is getting brighter and we can’t afford to lose one more day.”
Steve looked at you both like you were his two children going off to their first day of college and then he saluted you both goodbye.
Tumblr media
Not one word was shared as you followed Bucky into the woods until what felt like three hours later.
The entire way, he hadn’t been kind enough to slow down for you, so you trailed behind him by at least fifteen feet.
You didn’t want to admit to defeat, but your lungs were burning and your legs were too. It wasn’t until he briefly stopped that you thanked the heavens.
As you caught up to his side, you saw what he had paused to look at.
There in front of you was an entire city. It was destroyed, defeated, and reeking of death and evil.
The broken and sharp metal of what had once been pretty buildings were now pointed into the sky. Heavy dust with lingering smoke, that had never gone away, still floated above the city like a dark halo.
You swallowed painfully, thirsty, and afraid.
Sure, he was an avenger, but the bacteria...
You looked at him, unsure.
“Bucky, we can’t go through the city. We have to stay on the outskirts,” he ignored you, taking a step forward and commencing his walk towards the city. You watched, unmoved, “It’s too dangerous, Bucky, we don’t know what is in that air—” You finally sighed and ran up to him, pulling on the sleeve of  his coat, “Bucky—“
He quickly snapped around to look at you, “We are going through the city. You think I came all this way for safety? You think I care? You think I’m some kind of coward? That we’ll just be taking the easy way out for everything? Or do you actually have any courageous and strong bone in that pathetic body of yours?” His words attack your ego and you practically flinch at the last question, slowly letting go of his sleeve. He’s breathing hard through his nose and you watch as he runs a hand over his face. He points back with his metal arm, “It’s the quickest route. We’re on atimed schedule. I don’t have time for safety or convenience. I’ll go alone if that’s what it takes. Come with me or not.”
He doesn’t bother giving you another glance before commencing his walk into the destroyed city.  You practically hear the howl of the wind and you pull the hood higher over your head.
You consider his words. You were trying to be safer, but he was right. This would be the quickest way and it wasn’t like you weren’t at least partially prepared for this.
You took a deep breath and followed him.
Bucky wouldn’t admit it, but he was momentarily shocked when he saw you right next to him.
He took the first step into the pavement, a dry leaf crunch under his boot. The sound echoed in the air.
You were both faced with what once was the main road, fallen traffic lights and power lines lined the street.
Cars were overturned, some destroyed completely either by fire or vandalism. The buildings, if they weren’t destroyed, were broken into and also vandalized. Overgrown shrubs were beginning to grow over the street signs and into the cracks of the sidewalk.
It was also terrifying how quiet it was.
You didn’t trust it.
It was obvious Bucky was reluctant just as much as you because his pace matched yours, and at some point, he had even pulled out his gun.
Your eyes darted around as you passed the empty cars and buses. One of the cars even had what appeared to be kids' toys - a stuffed teddy bear and a baby mirror - and you shuddered looking away, not wanting to know what happened here.
Bucky’s gun followed his eyes and immediately you wondered how long its been that he’s left camp.
“How long has it been since you’ve been outside like this?” You ask.
He’s quiet as you both step over a fallen street sign that advertised some kind of clothing brand, and you take his silence as an answer, giving up.
“A while.”
You’re surprised that he responded and your eyebrows shoot up.
You wait a minute and take another bite.
“Not used to it anymore, huh?” He doesn’t respond, “I can tell.”
“Is this your idea of small talk?” He snaps.
“I’m just trying to make conversation. I’m stuck with you for the next six months, might as well.”
“No. I’m stuck with you.”
You have to force yourself not to roll your eyes. Your joyous walk continues for a few more miles until you both turn onto a street where a train now lies.
You both stare at it, confused and surprised, wondering how the hell it got there. But judging by the entry holes on the buildings on either side, it was obvious that it had probably been thrown by means of an explosion of some sort.
And you would both have to somehow get around it.
As you approached the train car, you and Bucky came to a halt.
“I’ll go first since I’m heavier. Make sure it doesn’t topple over or isn’t booty-trapped.” Bucky says, tightening his bag strap over his body, “Stand back.”
You did as you were told and watched from a small distance as he began to climb into one of the cars which had its doors still open. Some bodies that had been reduced to skeletons were still inside.
You held tightly onto the straps of your backpack, apprehensively.
Eventually, Bucky had hopped out on to the other side with a huff.
He turned to face you.
“Your turn.”
You took a deep breath and a step forward, the leaves and glass debris breaking under your feet.
Your eyes met, and once again it was like that first time he saw you in the tent.
You looked down at the cart cautiously before stepping onto it. You clenched and unclenched your right hand, and with your left, you used it to help hoist yourself onto the train.
It rocked beneath your weight with a heavy groan and your eyes shot up to his in fear.
He leaned his right arm on the side of the car for support, and with his left, he stretched it out for you to take.
You look down to where he stood on the ground, and you swallowed, scared at how far the jump looked.
He wiggled his fingers and you were about to stretch your own arm out to take his hand when you saw something move behind him.
A man.
“Oh, my God.”
It was too fast for you to even recollect what happened, but suddenly you were on top of Bucky. You were screaming and he was cursing and you saw the silhouette of the man next to you.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Bucky shouted, until fully turning around to see what you were looking at.
He cursed before pulling you behind him to shield you. He ran you both back towards a destroyed building on the far side of the street and finally aimed his gun at the man who was groaning, a green/black substance oozing out of his mouth like foam.
Bucky didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger, sending multiple gunshots into the man’s chest. He fell forward onto the street, dead.
You stumbled back and found Bucky’s hold on you soothing before he roughly pulled away and looked down at you, disappointed.
“Seriously?”
You inhaled deeply through your nose, feeling the dig of the building behind you.
How dare he snap at you for protecting him.
“You asshole. He was about to —”
“I don’t need you to protect me. If anything, you made it worst.”
“How the hell did I make it worst?” Bucky snarled, “What if I fell on him, huh? What if we both did?”
“But we didn’t!” You could feel your heart in your veins; in your head.
Bucky rolled his eyes as he swung his gun back down, relaxing his stance.
“Jesus fuck.” He mumbled under his breath, walking away from you, “I don’t know how you survived three years. It’s like it’s a joke to you.”
You feel your tears in your eyes before you push yourself off the wall and walked right past him so this time you were the one leading the way.
“I do what I can.” You mumble.
“Pathetic is what you are.” You wouldn’t cry. You wouldn’t. Your pace grew faster as he continued on, “You don’t—” he grabbed onto your arm, making you quickly turn around and face him. You didn’t hide the tears and you knew very well he could see them. He looked into your eyes with his pretty blue ones, “You don’t hesitate to save your own life,” he tucked your scarf that had come loose tighter around your face, and for a second you thought maybe and finally, he had a change of heart. But his next words killed that as he stepped away, dropping his hand, “We can’t risk getting infected. And I can’t risk you getting me infected, either. I might be a super soldier, but we don’t know how that thing affects people like me.”
Him. It was always about him and his safety.
“What about me? What about me getting infected or killed?” He took a step closer to you.
“You signed up for this. You know the risk.”
He walked past you.
“So I should care about your life, but not about mine?”
“What I’m saying is you need to be careful.” You were about to say something else when he finished with, “Now tie your boots before you get us both killed by you tripping onto me.”
With a snarl, you looked down to see that, indeed, your left shoe was untied.
Shit.
Tumblr media
An hour after your fight, the winds grew stronger and your visibility was down to two feet. You hadn’t spoken to each other since, and to be fairly honest, it’s not like you wanted to speak to him anyway.
After the winds had calmed down, you had both made it through the city and were now walking through what had once been crops. Now it was just coarse sand and rough rocks.
You wanted to ask him if you could rest for a few minutes, at least to have something to eat. But you were so afraid of what he would say to you.
But as you both walked and walked, it became harder.
Eventually, you stopped, and he also stopped to look at you. Your face was crestfallen.
“I’m not a super soldier like you. I need to eat. Maybe have a sip of water.”
Bucky looked you down but then turned and continued walking again.
You wanted to cry.
Did he want you down on your knees? Would that be enough for him?
After a few minutes, you reached forest land again.
You watched as Bucky walked off to the left side and sat against a tree.
You wanted to cry in relief.
You practically ran to him, sitting next to him against the tree. You pulled off your backpack and he did the same with his.
You both sat there, chewing on some nuts and fruits and sipping water.
Afterward, Bucky threw his eaten apple into the leaves and rested his head up against the tree.
You took that moment to observe him, but not making it too obvious.
Your promise to Steve resonates in your head.
He looked so young to you that you began to wonder how old he was, biologically. There was no way he was older than thirty-eight. You felt pity that he suffered so much so young.
“Can I ask you something?” You know you were fetching far. But screw it. His answer, was a tilt of his head and a peak of a blue iris at you, “how old are you?”
He squinted his eyes at you, “Really?”
“Yeah, I mean, I know you’re in your hundreds, but biologically?”
He looked away from you and closed his eyes again. His mouth was in a straight, harsh line.
“A lot older than you.”
You bit your lip, looking away.
“I miss my life before this. I miss Netflix and Spotify. Damnit, I miss Halsey.” His expression is unchanged, “Did you ever have a favorite song? You know, before — before everything?”
He knows what you’re asking but he doesn’t answer you. Instead, he runs two hands down his face and announces that you should both get going again.
You’re disappointed.
You had quickly gotten over the fact that he would never like you, if anything he hated you, but you both needed to find a common ground of respect, especially if you would be spending this much time together.
But he still wouldn’t abide by you. It was like he just didn’t care. Were you going to have to show him your true colors?
Eventually, the sun was beginning to set and Bucky suggested you both should set up camp.
He built a fire using wood and a lighter while you laid down both your blankets. He eyed you over the fire as you put his blanket straight across from his.
He wanted to thank you but his words wouldn’t come out. He was still stuck on the question you had asked him.
After the fire was just right, he tucked himself onto his uncomfortable grey blanket and laid his head on his arm.
Your eyes closed tightly together as you tried your best to go to sleep. You folded your knees against your small chest into a fetal position, to keep warm.
Bucky watched you from across the fire. You were a good girl.
But you shouldn’t be doing this. You were the kind of girl that was supposed to live in the aftermath of the successful mission, not the one fighting for it. You were going to get hurt.
Just like he did.
And he hated you for it. You were so young and had so much to live for.
He hated that he felt so many emotions for you that made him want to scream at you and make you go away. He wasn’t sure what they were but he knew none of them was anything romantic.
He would never feel that way about anyone else ever again.
He turned around in his blanket and closed his eyes tight together.
He did have a favorite song.

Part 6
Tumblr media
What am I supposed to do? I needed to go to Vera.. There was no question about that. She needed me. But Bucky. I don’t want to leave him and I can’t take him with me. I was pacing around in my hotel room, like that would make everything fall into place. I had told Loki what had happened with Vera and he went to get boat tickets to Norway as soon as possible. But how soon would that be. How much time would I have with Bucky. I needed to pack my things. That made me stop in my tracks and walk over to my closet. I was pulling everything out and placing it in my suitcase. It started of being put in neatly, but soon enough I was throwing everything in with frustration. I was mad, mad at myself for not opening that letter sooner, mad that I had a life here, mad that I now had someone here I didn’t want to leave behind, mad with this stupid war, mad with everything that was happening around it, mad that I couldn’t do anything to about it to change this stupid war. My vision was getting blurry, when I whipped my eyes my hands were wet. I was crying. This wasn’t fair, non of it was, especially to Bucky. I love him, I love him so much. And that’s why it hurts so much. I took a deep breath, trying to gather myself. I stood up and walked to the bathroom to fix whatever make-up was out of place.
Looking at myself in the mirror I was a complete mess. My mascara was everywhere but my lashes. “Get yourself together.” I told myself. Bucky will be here any minute now, can’t be looking like this. I got some wipes and fixed myself up. Put some mare mascara on. “Better. Now stop crying. For Gods sake you’re over a thousand years old.” I said I was looking in the mirror. On the one side this shouldn’t bother me so much, I have lived through so much shit in my time and this is what is causing me to break down. And on the other side, this is who I am. I am human, I am living. With that comes, heartbreak, sadness, anger, frustration, happiness, love. I love love, just since I’ve been with Bucky I felt love in a much more intense way than I ever had before.
How am I supposed to tell Bucky. We literally just got engaged. This should be the start of something, not the end. I don’t even know for how long I’m gonna be away for. A month? A year? Till the end of the war? I closed my eyes. I already knew the answer. It would be until the end of the war. At least four more years. I sighed. It would just be four years without Bucky I tried to convince myself. “Just four years.” That is if he doesn’t join the war. I thought to myself and it made my stomach drop. I put my hand over my eyes. “Nothing will happen to him if he doesn’t join the war. He’ll be fine... He’ll be fine.. He’ll be fine Y/n. Stop worrying.” Scolding myself. I needed to calm down. Then there was a knock at the door. It must be Bucky.
I gave myself one quick look before answering the door. Putting on the best smile I had I opened the door and there was Bucky. Seeing him gave me a genuine smile. It made my stomach do flips. “Hey, darling. You look beautiful.” He said as he gave me a quick peck on my lips. He had his signature smirk on his face. “Thank you.” I told him sincerely. “So I got this for us today.” He said as he pulled two tickets from his pocket. Dancing tickets. “To celebrate our engagement.” He continued. He looked so happy. I needed to tell him about me going to Norway possibly really soon. “It’s at the same place where we met.” He told me with a big smile. I looked down not knowing what to say. “Is something wrong?” Bucky asked as he reached for my hand. “No. I love it! I just can’t believe we’re engaged still.” And I couldn’t believe we were honestly. I didn’t want to ruin this day. So I’ll tell him tomorrow or after the dance. Just not now.
-
The day had been perfect. We went to the same diner we did the were we met each other for the second time. We took the same walk we did as we did on our first real date. Everything was perfect. It almost made me forget that I would have to leave. Key word almost.
We were walking towards the dance hall, a lot of people were already inside. The music that was playing was fast paced. Everybody inside was having a good time jumping around, being spun or lifted in the air. Bucky was guiding us towards the bar to get us some drinks before dancing, holding my hand tightly. “What do you want sweetheart?” He asked me. “Whatever you’re having.” I answered Bucky.
He would get us some beers and we cheered. I could only gulp it down as quick as I possibly could. “Wow.” Bucky stated. “Never knew you could drink like that.” He laughed. Being a friend of Thor makes you drink like that I laughed to myself. Shit I also have not told him about me being Ævi, I am messing up in so many ways. But now I have to somehow tell him I am leaving possibly very soon. “Bucky?” I started. “Come on lets dance!” He said as he held my hand and almost dragged me to the dancefloor. There was a fast paced song on and everybody was jumping and dancing around and so were we.
After many songs there was finally a more slow one on. Bucky kept giving me a look I couldn’t quite figure out what he was thinking. “Why are you giving me that look?” I asked him trying to figure him out. “You’re just so beautiful and I am happy.” I could hear the honesty behind his voice and the need for him to get that off his chest. “I was thinking of looking for a ring tomorrow.” I looked at my hand that was resting on his shoulder. I felt awful. “Bucky? Can we talk somewhere where it is not this loud?” Bucky gave me a confused look, but nodded his head yes and started to follow me outside.
“Bucky I-..” I started and sighed. Thinking about it made my heart break. “Is there something wrong?” He asked not knowing what was going on. “Bucky I just want you to know that.. I love you, I love you so much, so much that it even hurts. And I didn’t think-..” I sighed again. Bucky had a even more confused look on his face. I walked over to him and took his hands. “What’s going on?” He asked trying to understand what my conflict was. He was looking into my eyes trying to see if the answers were there. “I-.. A long friend of mine in Norway, she.. she lost her daughter and husband recently because of the war... And I need to go see her, I need to see if she is ok.” I stammered out. “I am sorry to hear that, y/n. When are you leaving?” He asked me. “I don’t know yet, but very soon. Loki already looked at tickets for boats that go that way, but I don’t know yet what he found.” He nodded at that in understanding and held my hands a little tighter. “Do you know when you’re coming back here?” He asked unsure of himself already dreading the answer.
I closed my eyes and sighed. I knew exactly when I would be coming back, but I couldn’t exactly say how I know what I know. “I’ll come back after the war.” I looked up trough my lashes at him to see what his reaction was at that. He let go of one off one of my hands at that and rubbed is mouth in thinking. “Maybe if I join the war and somehow get stationed off in Norway we can-...” “No! No, I don’t want you to join the army Bucky. Please don’t do that.” I interrupted him, that was the last thing I wanted him to do. “But if more people join the fight it might be over sooner. They are sending out troops now from America as we speak. I also am a good fighter and a good shot.” I could only shake my head no at that. “Bucky, please don’t join the army. I am begging you don’t do it. This war.. It will not end anytime soon and a lot of people will die. I don’t want you to be one of those people.” I was all serious. If he joined the army it would break my heart. The not knowing if he was ok or not would break me. He gave in and nodded his head. “Lets go back inside and pretend there is no war going on.” Bucky said trying to reassure me.
Back inside there was a slow song on again. I could not be close enough to him. I was resting my head on his shoulder and held him a little tighter. Bucky was holding my neck with one hand and the other was on my lower back. We were so close to each other, yet so far. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I felt helpless. I felt like I was stuck. And I hated it. I put my hand up against my cheek to wipe away the tear. I didn’t want to leave. “I love you Bucky.” I said quietly, I wasn’t even sure if Bucky could hear what I said over the music until he held me a little tighter. “I love you y/n.” He told me. I closed my eyes trying to ignore the music that was playing. I could hear his heartbeat, beating in a steady rhythm.
The walk back to the hotel had never been this long yet so fast. We were walking in circles, not wanting this night to end. But it was getting quite dark and we had to go inside at some point. “I am still looking at a ring tomorrow.” He told me as wee were nearing the hotel. That made me slightly sigh of relieve, but he didn’t know how long this war would be going on for. It wasn’t fair of me to ask him to wait and put his life on pause for me. “Bucky, I don’t want you to wait-..” I started. Bucky came to stand in front of me. “Y/n, you leaving doesn’t make me stop loving you. And I get why you don’t wanna hear this, but if I have to I will wait a hundred year or a thousand years, hell an eternity, if it all meant that in the end I would be with you. And that is what I’m gonna do whether you like it or not.”  He said as he put both his hands on my cheeks. “I love you, Y/n. Now, tomorrow and forever.” Then he planted a sweet kiss on my lips. It was slow and full of want, but not of lust. As we both slowly pulled back we couldn’t let go of each others gaze. “I like that. Now, tomorrow and forever.” He smirked at that.  “Well it is how I feel.” He said as he dropped his hands to mine. “I will love you now, tomorrow and forever too Bucky.” I gave him another peck on the lips as it was time to go inside of the hotel.
Before I even had the chance to open my room Loki burst out of his room. Bucky looking slightly shocked but keeping his own as Loki approached. “Where have you been?!” Loki asked annoyed. “With Bucky. Did you get tickets?” Loki looked Bucky up and down in slight disgust. He obviously didn’t like Bucky for whatever reasons he had. “Yes I did get the tickets. And you need to pack.. Now.” He demanded. “Wait.. When are we leaving?” I asked confused. “You said as soon as possible. I got tickets for tomorrow.. Morning. We leave at eight.” My eyes grew wide. I was expecting soon, just not this soon. I was at a loss for words. I felt Bucky squeeze my hand. “That’s faster than I expected.” Bucky said under his breath. I looked at out interlocked hands. “I’ll help you pack doll.” Bucky continued. “Good even a human is smart enough to know what that means.” I gave Loki a warning glare at that. I opened the door to let me and Bucky in and said goodnight to Loki.
“Ignore him, he’s... weird.” I said about Loki. “I heard that.” Loki said from the other side of the door. “Sorry again.” I said to Bucky. “I didn’t know it would be... That fast.” I said with sadness in my eyes.
The night together packing went slow. I already had a few things packed luckily. After we were done packing we just laid on the bed together. Talking about anything and everything to keep our minds of reality. After a moment of silence Bucky spoke up. “Will you write me when you’re there?” He asked. I looked up at him from where I was positioned on his side. “Of course. Everyday.” I told him and that was a promise I made to myself. “Will you?” I asked him. “Everyday.” He answered back. I leaned forward to kiss him I wanted him close, one last time before sayin goodbye. I moved myself on top of him to deepen the kiss. Bucky put his hands by my neck at the top of my dress. He slowly started to unzip my dress. Caressing my skin as the zipper went down. His touch gave me goosebumps. When the zipper was all the way down I took my arms out of my dress exposing my bra. Our lips still interlocked Bucky started to sit up. Our minds hungry for each other. It was my turn to unbutton his shirt, after I was done doing that Bucky quickly shook off his shirt and threw it on the ground. I grinded down on his lap and could feel his cock hardening quickly. Mt panties were already completely soaked and ready to take them off now. I wanted him inside of me. I wanted to feel him.
Bucky went to unclasp my bra and threw it on the ground as well. His hand left hand went right for me breast and started flicking my nipple. I inhaled deeply at that sensation of his gentle touch. He put his other arm around me and his left hand let go of my nipple to hold me around my back as well. I let out a small whine at the loss of his touch. He pulled his head back looking at me briefly before spinning me around and now I was laying on my back on the bed. He discarded of my dress and panties that were still on and he quickly took off his trousers to free his already hardened cock.
He crawled back over my naked form his mouth going right back to mine. He again took my right hand with his left and put it above my head. My other hand went to his lower back, indicating I wanted him now. I felt his tip brushing against my folds, but he was not starting yet. his right hand went down to my bundle of nerves and started to slowly rub circles. My breathing started to pick up and I let out low moans against his mouth. I went to bit my lip to keep my volume low, but Bucky quickly went to suck on my lower lip before he let go. “I want to hear you.” He whispered to me. His thumb started to rub faster circles which made me close my eyes with the pleasure I was feeling. My breathing started to pick up and my moans started to get louder the faster he went. Everything started to tingle and I felt my walls try to clench to something. I let out a loud moan and my thighs quivering as I came.
I opened my eyes searching for Bucky’s who was still looking at me. Bucky was still rubbing me and I slowly started to feel sensitive trying to close my legs. Bucky moved his hips down so I couldn’t. I could feel his tip brushing against my entrance again. I let go of his lower back to move my one free hand up to his neck. “I want you inside of me.” I told him intently. And he complied. He slowly put his length inside me, while I was adjusting to the new fulness. He was stretching my walls slowly. When he was fully situated he waited for a moment for me to fully adjust and I slowly started moving my hips and so did Bucky. I tried to move faster already feeling a new sensation build up inside of me, but Bucky put his hand down on my right leg widening me up more so he could go deeper. I put my other leg around him, pushing him down, me wanting him to go faster. “Bucky go faster.” I told him lowly. But he shook his head keeping his slow steady pace. “I want to feel you. Let me feel you.” I slowed me breathing down and started to relax into the bed more.
His thrusts were slow, but hit every spot. With every move he made his pelvis brushed against my still sensitive bundle of nerves. Bucky started kissing my sensitive spot by my neck which made this pleasure feel al the more better. My breathing started to pick up slowly again and so did his. His thrust's were picking up and hitting harder. His balls slapping against my ass as he did. As we were both coming closer to our ends his speed started to pick up more and more. Bucky groaning in my ear as he was getting closer to his end. My moans were so loud I was getting afraid someone might hear them. I felt the familiar knot form in my stomach and my walls clenching around his length. “Bucky.” Is all I had to say as I felt my walls break around him. Simultaneously I felt his cock shoot hot spurts inside of me, filling me. His thrusts loosing rhythm before he stilled. “I love you.” He told me intently as he looked me in my eyes. “Now, tomorrow and forever.” I answered back as Ii pulled him closer for a deep kiss.

I don’t know when I’ll start posting this particular story again, but hopefully sooner rather than later. Thanks for understanding! 😘

Winter Wonderland
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x Reader Word Count: 1554 Warnings: Soft Bucky. Some fluff (even though I’m still finding my footing in fluff) A/N: Here’s day two! Don’t forget to tell me what you think! And if you missed day one, you can find it in the masterlist!
2019 Christmas Masterlist
Tumblr media
Bucky woke with a start, momentarily unfamiliar with his surroundings. It wasn’t until he felt the warm mass curled up next to him and heard the sound of a cheery Christmas melody looping in the background that he realized he was in your room.
Movies nights with you had quickly become one of Bucky’s favorite days of the week. It was the one constant in his life he could always look forward to lately, and he was eternally grateful. He wasn’t, however, grateful for always falling asleep in your bed.
Despite the progress he’d made over the past several months, nightmares still occasionally plagued him. Fighting off the darkness that clouded the deepest recesses of his mind wasn’t a scene he wanted to subject you to. Fortunately, you were a heavy sleeper.
He looks down at you, curled up to his side, fist gently bunched in his cotton sleep shirt. He couldn’t resist the smile that spread across his face at the sight. You always seemed to have that effect on him.
As gently as he could, Bucky stretched out to grab the remote that was resting next to you. Reacting as his movement, you tighten your hold on his shirt a little. He flicks off the t.v., cutting off the Blu-Ray’s title screen before it can start its jingle bell song again. As much as he wanted to stay, he knew he couldn’t.
“Doll,” he says quietly, gently running his hand over the cheek that isn’t currently smushed against him. You nuzzle into his touch, chasing the warmth of his flesh fingers. “I gotta get up.”
You whine slightly, barely awake, and shuffle closer - as if that were even possible. Even though you’d never admit it, you were a desperate cuddler sometimes. It’s one of the things he loved about you, even though he’d never admit that.
“Stay,” you mumble as you bury your face deeper into his chest.
Bucky chuckles and brushes the hair blanketing your face. “As much as I’d love that, I promised Steve I would join him on his run tomorrow. He’s gonna come knockin’ at my door, and if I don’t answer I’ll never hear the end of it.”
“Stupid Stevie,” you grumble again before releasing your grip on his shirt just a little. Bucky could tell you were already starting to drift off again, so he took the chance to carefully extract himself from you.
Before he can completely wiggle himself off your bed, you’re nestling into the warmth he’s left behind, hugging the pillow he’d just been resting on close. He smiles down at the sight, his chest warming just a little at the cute, sleepy puffs of breath escaping you as you drift fully back into unconsciousness.
“Sleep tight, pretty girl,” he whispers as he pulls your quilt up snuggly around you. Before he can think twice about it, he leans down and places a gentle kiss to your hairline.
One of these days, he thinks to himself, I’ll finally tell her how I feel. But tonight is not that night.
Before heading off to his own room, Bucky heads down to the kitchen to grab a midnight snack. The extra-large bowl of popcorn you’d split earlier in the night just wasn’t cutting it for him. The sight that welcomes him, however, has him considering turning around and heading right back to your room.
Looking out the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, Bucky can see the large flakes of snow dusting everything in sight. There isn’t much, just enough to leave a faint whisper of white on the grass below, but he doesn’t care. All he knows is he has to wake you up. You’d been moping around for the past week complaining because it’s December in Upstate freaking New York for crying out loud, there should be snow.
The rational part of his brain tells him to just wait until morning. But when it comes to you, Bucky’s never rational, so why start now?
He practically sprints back to your room, taking the steps three at a time as he goes. You’re still curled up the way he left you just minutes ago, and he second-guesses himself for a split second because god, how could he disturb such an angelic scene? Fuck it.
“Y/N,” he whispers, shaking your arm gently. “Hey, wake up. I got a surprise for you.”
He watches as your eyes flutter behind your lids. He shakes you again, this time with more authority, and that seems to do the trick. Your eyes blink open, momentary annoyance flashes across your face before you realize it’s Bucky. The scowl is replaced with a groggy smile.
“What’s up, buttercup?” Your voice is scratchy from sleep and Bucky thinks he might pass out if you keep talking like that.
“Come on, get up. Grab your coat and gloves. I have a surprise!”
You don’t question him further, simply do as he asks because you just trust him. He’ll never understand what he’s done for you to put so much faith in him, but he won’t question it.
He’s rummaging through your neat rows of shoes looking for your snow boots when you come up behind him.
“Where are we goin’?”
Bucky doesn’t answer, simply thrusts your boots into your hands. “Here, put these on and meet me at my room in five.”
You appear not even the full five minutes later all bundled up, complete with the wool scarf he brought back as a present from a mission in Scotland, and one of his hats you’d swiped last year.
He isn’t quite as bundled, but he doesn’t have to worry about getting cold like you do. Super-soldier and all. He does throw on a pair of gloves, and something a little warmer than his usual leather jacket.
“Ready?” he asks, reaching a gloved hand out for you to take. You smile and grasp it firmly, causing warmth to spread through his veins.
He pulls the hat over your eyes and starts leading you to the elevators at the end of the hall. “Bucky!” you giggle as your shuffle behind him. “What has gotten into you?”
He only hums his response as he smashes the down button over and over, daring the elevator to move just a little faster.
Once on the ground floor, Bucky leads you to one of the side doors. This particular one opens up to an open field, perfect for enjoying the flurries unobstructed.
“Can I look now?” you quietly ask once you’ve realized you’d stopped. You can feel a slight nip in the air, and you shiver into Bucky. He takes the momentary closeness as his opportunity to push the hat away from your eyes.
He can see the child-like wonder on your face through the reflection of the glass door. Watches as your sleepy smile grows so wide he’s sure it’s going to split your face open. He can’t but preen a little, knowing he’s the one that helped put that look there.
“I, uh, I know you’ve been waiting for it to snow and all so I thought….” he trails off as he rubs the back of his neck self-consciously. “I didn’t want to wait ‘till morning’.”
“Bucky Barnes, you are the sweetest human being I have ever met,” you practically squeal as you throw yourself into him, wrapping your arms around his solid middle.
Before he can reciprocate the hug, though, you’ve peeled yourself away and are running out the door. You don’t care that it’s nearly three in the morning and that you have a meeting with Director Fury at 0600. No, all you care about is the snow, and the overly-caring, way too sentimental man watching you from the doorway.
You hold out your hand to beckon him over, and he’s in front of you in three long strides. You hug him again, this time allowing him to return the gesture, and bask in his warmth. It takes everything in you to fight back the little happy tears that prick at the corner of your eyes.
“Thank you,” you whisper into his chest. “I really needed this.”
You look up when he doesn’t immediately answer, surprised when you’re met with a blue-eyed gaze so intense you're sure it could melt the snow around you. You bite your lip and watch as his eyes flick down to your mouth then back up.
Before you can stop yourself, you’re up on your tiptoes, pushing your lips gently into his. He’s surprised momentarily before his mind catches up. His left hand quickly finds its way to the back of your hair as the right snakes around your waist. He doesn't hesitate to deepen the kiss, and you can’t help but feel like he’s been wanting this as bad as you have.
You break away first, needing to catch your breath. He doesn’t let you get far though, keeps his forehead pressed against yours to keep you close. You can see the little crinkles around his eyes as smiles down at you.
“If I knew you’d react like this, I would have found a way to make it snow back in July!”
You swat his chest playfully before he captures your mouth in another kiss. It might, just might, be a better surprise than the snow.

You pace back and forth so much that you think you’re going to wear out the floor. Bucky has to make it back from this mission soon, or I might just explode. He’s not late or anything—today is the day he and the rest of his team are supposed to return from their mission, but you need to talk to him in the worst way.
“Have you heard from them yet?” you ask Tony.
“No (Y/N),” he sighs, acting like it’s the millionth time you’ve asked him this question. “Your train to Pound Town via the Barnes Express hasn’t arrived yet.”
“Tony, I swear—.”
Just as you’re about to dish out your threat, you hear the Quinjet start to lower into position in the back of the Avengers Compound. You feel your heart skip a beat and for a moment you feel sick to your stomach. You swallow hard to push down the nauseous feeling and put on a smile before you see Bucky.
As usual, he’s the last of the team to stroll in, but when he sees you, his tired face lights up. Ugh, no matter how many times you see that reaction, your heart melts. He picks up his pace a bit so he can wrap you in his arms and place a loving kiss on your lips.
“You have no idea how happy I am to see you, doll,” Bucky whispers against your lips before giving you another kiss.
“I could say the same to you,” you tell him. “You smell like a rainforest. Buck, I—.”
“Shh,” he whispers. “Let’s go to our room. I’ll shower and then we can catch up. I mean, you could help me in the shower and we could catch up in there. Two birds, one stone.”
Before you can say much more, Bucky laces his fingers with yours and starts to lead you to your room. You bite the inside of your lip harder and harder—so hard you’re pretty sure you draw blood by the time you reach your room. Bucky quietly closes the door behind you and immediately starts to place soft kisses on your neck that he knows will make you go weak at the knees. You sigh but are snapped back to what you have to tell him as you feel his fingers tickle the skin of your waist as he slowly pulls up your shirt.
“Buck, stop,” you tell him, moving yourself back and placing your hands on his shoulders.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, very concerned after reading your body language. “Are you alright? Is it because I smell like sweat and trees?”
“No, no, no,” you assure him. “I’m fine, I promise.”
“You don’t seem fine,” he says, his hands moving to hold yours. “(Y/N), what’s wrong?”
You bite your lip and take one of yours hands out of his, reaching behind him to the nightstand and handing him the plastic stick.
“You’re pregnant?” Bucky asks, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. “Oh my God.”
“Take a closer look,” you say, sitting next to him, adjusting the pregnancy test so he can see the words on the screen.
“Not pregnant?” he reads. “Wait, I’m confused.”
“I thought I was. I was about a week late and I started to panic. I took the test and it came back negative. I was relieved, but Bucky, I started to think about what if that had been a positive? I started to think about all the possible scenarios and . . . You’ve told me that the things you wanted before you went off to war isn’t what you want now. I know you had said that one of those things was a family. And James, I love you so much I don’t even know where to begin, but . . . I want a family. I want all the ups and downs that come with being pregnant. I want to be a mom. And I want to do it all with you, but I don’t want to have you do anything you don’t want to do because that’d make you unhappy and the last thing I want to do is make you unhappy and—.”
Bucky adjusts on the bed and wraps you in his arms, moving his arms in soothing strokes on your back. It’s only when he does this that you realize that you started to cry and breathe unsteadily. You pull back and furiously wipe away at your tears and runny nose.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble. “I didn’t realize—.”
“It’s okay,” Bucky reassures you, kissing your forehead. “But you’re right. I don’t want everything that I wanted before I went off to war.”
You feel your heart sink at his words.
“But,” he continues. “I’ve found happiness with you. I’ve found that being with you has had me thinking about some of those old dreams. I know some of them won’t become a reality, but it seems like for the first time in my life with you I have a choice and a say in what I want. And I know that if I were to start a family with anybody, you’re the only one I’d want to do it with. Yeah, I’d be scared shitless right now if this were positive, but I’d find a way to get over the fear because I have you. (Y/N), I have you and I love you and I know whatever happens, we can do it.”
You wrap your arms around his body and rest your head on his chest, listening to the beat of his heart through his uniform.
“I love you, James,” you tell him. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“I don’t know what I’d do without you, darling,” he says into your hair. “But I know what I can do with you.”
“Huh?”
Before you can fully process his words, he scoops you up from the bed and walks you to the bathroom with him.
“Bucky!” you laugh.
“What?” he smirks. “I probably got you smelling like rainforest. So now we can kill three birds with one stone: freshening up, catching up, and getting a go on seeing what we can do about making that negative test a positive one.”
“Seriously?” you ask him. “You think we’re ready?”
“No,” he sighs. “We might not ever be ‘ready’. And when has life ever done anything convenient for either of us? But if it happens, we can handle it. We’ve got each other.”
