watching fantasy/sci-fi shows from the 80's and 90's is so healing for your brain actually..........

i see people trying to hype them up too by showing off really impressive practical effects for the time, and sure, that's nice. but I unironically love seeing very obvious foam boulders bounce off people, and wooden swords clash, and bright flashes of light from "laser guns"... and it is so much better than 90% of shit today, and you know why?

key fucking difference: they inhabit it. everyone on screen is putting their entire soul into it. and I think people forget that tv is at its very essence theater, you tune in and suspend your disbelief, and you are always aware you are watching a story. if you go to a play and see someone stabbed with a very obvious fake knife, it doesn't fucking matter, does it?

because everyone's forgot that you're not there to see how good of a real-looking fake knife somebody can make, you're there to see people who can make you believe in the emotional truth of a story.

xena warrior princess is superior to every single marvel movie that has ever been made for the key fact that i can watch two actors struggling in "quicksand" which is very obviously just dirt that they were buried in up to their chests, but they are SCREAMING, wailing, crying: they are selling it and I am there for them ---

- They made him look older and less appealing in the show than he does irl. Look at him in some shots in the show then see him behind the scenes! The makeup, lighting and angles were unflattering at times! They even managed to remove that sparkle in his eye in the show but it was there behind the scenes!

- The director of S1, Kate Herron said that it was wanted Sophia/Sylvie to ‘knock Tom Hiddleston down a notch.’

The only person qualified to take no shit from anyone. She is one of the most important main characters for marvels plot development and characterisation. AND THEY FUCKING FRIDGED HER IN THE FIRST EPISODE OF A SHOW THATS NOT EVEN FUCKING HERS?? It wasnt for character development because her death is only used as leverage against Fury. That if that video of 'him' killing Maria Hill gets out then everything he's worked for will fall apart. It wasn't for the plot because her death has absolutely no relevance to the rest of the show. It wasn't even to reveal something. She isn't even thanked for her service to SHIELD and the Marines. SHE DOESNT EVEN HAVE A FUNERAL. She's just dead. Lying in a casket along with so many other women marvel packed up for the fucking sake of it.

I won't accept that they've done that to her. She could've been so much more. She shouldve been.

And now Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel. The human equivalent of a nuke. The woman Thanos punched in the face and didn't even flinch. The Avenger for every other planet in the goddamn fucking universe. She is the only Captain Marvel. She is meant to be one of the most powerful people in the universe. Her powers are able to kill Gods. AND GI'AH JUST FUCKING GETS THEM?? You know what I love about Irondad? That Tony genuinely likes Peter. From the first time they meet. It is clear as a day that Peter is someone Tony looks up to, can act naturally around and that they have the potential to understand each other.

It's not "I got stuck with this kid". It's more like " I found this kid and now I'm emotionally invested that he is well and happy."

You can see it in little moments, between lines of dialogue, body language. The way Tony acts with Peter is completely different from say how he acted around Harley. Tony is immediately relaxed, like he was with Bruce. Because when Tony likes someone, you can tell. His love language is generosity and he is generous with Peter. He gives but doesn't expect anything back. Like remember when Coulson was having trouble making time for the woman he was dating? Tony immediately offered him a private jet and you could tell by his tone that he was being genuine.

Just imagine what happened after homecoming? There is no doubt that Tony and Peter kept contact. They spent time together, joked together, opened up about their trauma (I have always thought Tony could relate to Peter being an orphan since Tony lost his parents suddenly and tragically when he was at a vulnerable age).

But yeah, people keep telling Tony was cold and just used Peter. I never read anything like that about their relationship. I am like Tony when it comes to people. Hurt too many times, sensitive to rejection and so have trouble trusting peple will like me enough to stay. Therefore the erasure of Irondad really hurts me, and the villanisation of Tony makes me feel like people like me are evil and bad, and I am afraid my loneliness and torn relationships are due to me being a bad person.

Bucky was second in command for the Commandos therefore should've planned strategy with SSR as much as Steve. yet there's zero indication that the SSR personales knew Bucky well enough to even call him by his name??

Peggy has never addressed Bucky directly, even after his death Peggy used 'your friend' in her conversation with Steve. that's, if not avoidance out of jealousy of his relationship with Steve, detachment. there's no personal relationship between Bucky and her. plus Howard Stark calling him 'sergeant Barnes' which literally couldn't have been more impersonal.

the only logical conclusion is that the Commandos never spent time socializing with Peggy and Stark, they probably didn't even meet all that often cuz they were going around Europe fighting Hydra while SSR stayed behind doing their own stuff. Then how can Peggy possibly be the person Steve couldn't get over with, let along have any long lasting impact on him when they've barely spent time together?

popcorn movies are thoughtless and get criticized for this precise reason. the plot doesn't have to be properly developed bc audiences are conditioned to think certain ways and they complete the story in their head for the movie. 'oh that's a classic setup for romance, of course the hero falls in love with her.'

the thing is, it doesn't make sense, and when it doesn't, it shouldn't.

steggy is what happens when you let this thoughtlessness dictates how you percee a trope in a movie.

she never should've been the 'love of my life' for Steve. she simply couldn't have been. THEY BARELY KNEW EACH OTHER ffs.
