5.12.2020 || reorganizing and cleaning my room, a little bit at a time, starting with the top of this dresser!

it was hella messy for the longest time but then i needed a place to put my new plant, Frank, and voilá! super clean :) i was also going thru some of my drawers and shelves and i came across these two poem books by my grandmother. i never really knew her when she was alive, but her poems are so intimate i feel as if i know her far better now. she also painted the watercolor hanging on the wall.

One of the main reasons why you don’t make progress or why you are stuck in the vicious cycle of procrastination is the lack of courage to take that one small imperfect step. The more you are fixated on the end result, the less likely you are actually going to do something to achieve it.

A case in point of this so called ‘phenomenom’ is when you keep putting off your essay for a class you are taking. You keep convincing yourself that you have lots and lots of time to write it and suddenly your deadline is tomorrow. What do you usually do in these kinds of situations? I bet you usually open a new document and just start writing something, a quick draft, because you think you just need to get something done. In other words, you are actually just taking an imperfect step towards your end goal, which in this case is a finished essay. When you’ve taken your imperfect step, you often get this flow and just keep working and working until you are satisfied with your input. It seems surprisingly simple, right?

To summarise everything, you need to stop being so focused on the end result. The process is the most important part of your work and you can always edit and work on it later. An imperfect step is the most important step and more people need to realise this. If you have a long list of things to do or deadlines to meet, then just decide to start somewhere. Make that awful draft, scribble down something, make a mistake, just do something. Sooner or later, you are going to notice that you’ve made a great deal of progress. These imperfect steps are what you need in your life.

1)What’s the funniest memory that you have of your friends or family?

there’s too many to say omg but I have gotten lost a total of 4 times in ikea over the space of half a year and always on a family trip. and everytime a disgruntled employee would hand me the tannoy speaker to let me tearfully announce that I was in the carpets section and could someone get me please (fgs)

2)What is one quirky thing that you do/have?

i really don’t know lol i dont think I have enough self awareness to answer this. I don’t use public bathrooms?

3)What major would you least likely study?

English Literature (LOL) It’s always been my best subject but it makes my head pound

4)Tips on becoming and being the president of a club?

Be willing to really pull your weight (there will be unavoidable times when your gonna have to bring up the slack of other members)

Be organised and reliable - appear to be some one who always has their shit tg

Manage your time

Plan ahead (i.e. for events etc) - use a calendar

take initiative i.e. push for meetings, regularly renew and go over agenda

don’t give up

5)Who’s your best friend? What do you like about them?

Idk if I have those anymore - but one of my really close friends is a girl from college. she’s just the biggest sweetheart

6)Name three of your pet peeves about other people:

people who can’t keep appointments/promises

shallowness

double standards

7)What’s your fashion style?

Simple, dark to medium tones, nudes, browns, small details, oversized, earthy, trainers and chunky leather shoes, long skirts, no jewelery

8) If you could keep one physical trait of yours and the rest changed, which one would it be?

9) Your favorite class and why?

anatomy because it’s p straightforward if you’ve got the time

10) What do you see yourself like 10 years from now?

hopefully omw to becoming a consultant in derma or something else

Arabic and japanese

What jobs do you recommend that a 15 year old apply for as a first job to save up money? And any other tips you have on first jobs?

ahhh i’m probably the wrong person to ask this because, to be completely honest, i’ve never had a job before (aside from volunteering, if that counts). i’ll try my best to offer you some advice, though!

some jobs that you could apply for (some of these don’t require an application, but i thought that it would be nice to include them here anyway so that you have a variety of options):

babysitting, if you don’t mind being around children

petsitting, if you like animals

teaching someone how to play a musical instrument, one-on-one (you can set your own hourly pay rate)

tutoring (again, you can set your own hourly pay rate)

lifeguard, if you’ve done the training and you’re certified and you’re confident in your skills

retail, if you don’t mind dealing with customers

fast food server

grocery store bagger

tips:

don't be late. i think this is pretty self-explanatory.

the first impression is crucial. keep it up throughout your time working at that job.

be nice to everyone, and don't forget to sm:)e.

offer help when appropriate.

don't be afraid to ask questions. your boss/manager/supervisor wants you to succeed!

networking is important. the people you work with could be your references for future jobs.

and, of course, (try to) have fun!

i use clip studio paint! but that’s just my personal preference because i was familiar with it when i started editing because i use it for art. photoshop works great i know, and there’s tons of apps on your phone you could use! -hope this helped!
