My thoughts on Gojo vs Sukuna
This battle was a long time coming. So of course it does not surprise one when it did.
Though I did feel like Gojo's return was oddly plain. Like he was sealed for a long time (for us as readers) and then he was just out. Now the situation is tricky. Sukuna is already at such a power level and it's hard to justify how long Yuji and the others could survive like this.
And Gojo has no reason to wait too.
The problem to me is that the end of their battle will hardly be satisfying at all.
I saw some say that Gojo had to lose for story purposes but I do not agree with that. We saw in his flashback arc how he failed twice. Once saving Rico and then stopping Geto.
At the beginning of the Shibuya arc, he received another loss in the form of being sealed away.
Sukuna on the other hand only lost once at the beginning which was not even a proper fight.
On top of it, the Shibuya arc really was a disaster more for the Sorcerers than the curses. This arc already ended in the favor of Kenjaku and was a failure for Yuji and his group. So do we really need this arc to go worse before things get better? I don't think so. Again Gojo was gone for a long time for us as readers, only to fail right after? That would be a really bad idea, in my opinion.
If Gojo cannot defeat Sukuna then nobody can and no matter how we are going to see his defeat it would feel unreal if it was not Gojo.
I don't believe that Yuji has to defeat him. Believe it or not, there were never any real indications that he would defeat Sukuna at any point in time. Mahito is his nemesis and he is still alive. Kenjaku only absorbed him, he can still summon Mahito and use him. This means that fighting Kenjaku will finally end the constant conflict between Yuji and Mahito.
There were always parallels between Gojo and Sukuna even the 'Among heaven and earth...' text was used for both of them.
Another thing to point out is that Sukuna is just another factor in this whole series. Like everybody else, he has a role to fulfill. The true antagonist of the story is Kenjaku who has been pulling all the strings up until now. So it makes the most sense for Yuji to fight him.
I like the division that the others will take him on and only Gojo should fight Sukuna. It makes more sense that way. (I don't think we need to fall into that Shounen cliche of the protag to get the strongest opponents, it does not really fit in with JJK)
For me, the best outcome for their fight was always a draw. They would kill each other and there would be no definite answer on who is stronger. Of course, the problem in this fight now is that Sukuna has not his own body.
Killing him would kill Megumi and would Gojo really kill him? Now he said he would not hold back and he clearly is not but does that really mean he would kill him? He knows Megumi for the longest among his students and despite what Toji did to him he still took in his child.
Originally I thought that their battle would make the most sense to be the last in the series.

I know I am probably not the first to do this, but I really wanted to see how similar they looked, so I drew Yoriichi with Muichiro's hairstyle and I don't see any difference.

I know we have some hashira interactions later, but I like to draw them. Plus a little bit more recognition over Mui's change.

More twin demons. I really love drawing their dad. (Though I should give him the same color at his ends as the twins. I actually like it)

Swordsmith village arc review P2
Muichiro:
Tumblr media
Again, I do not like that there is a constant need to present characters as terrible. I watched a lot of reactions and most people disliked Muichiro at first, which I could not get behind.
A character that is not nice is not a bad character at all, neither do I believe that he was meant to be seen in a negative light. It’s just the short amount of time spent on them that makes it harder to sympathize with them.
It is a little hard to understand his issue and the importance of him regaining his memories. But that is again a problem of not taking the time to present us the characters properly. Since his issue and his fight against Gyokko are not connected in any way.
I found it a little odd that he went to Tanjiro to ask about Kanamori, seems more like a plot convenience. Since Tanjiro is triggering his memories. I don’t feel that is necessary that Tanjiro keeps having such a strong affect on people, this is my personal preference, but I feel like you can spread out this role onto multiple characters.
Furthermore, Yuichiro’s death caused his memory issue, so would it not make more sense that something in that matter would trigger his memories? Maybe we could have him still unconsciously thinking of his father’s words while considering leaving Kotetsu behind, and then Kotetsu’s act of saving him is triggering the memories. I know the situation is different, but he is still trying to risk his own life to save him.
I mean even without Tanjiro’s influence on him I feel like he would become good friends with him later. I in general do not like the approach of an overly influential protagonist. But that is personal preference.
Furthermore, it is clear as day that there was not many efforts put into Gyokko since most time is wasted on Hantengu since he is Tanjiro’s opponent
Which is such a shame. Defeating an upper-rank demon is a big feat and doing that alone is an even bigger one. Again, I don’t know the reason behind the insane pacing of this manga but that is the main reason why there was not much room to focus more in-depth on other characters and give a lot more depth to Muichiro’s battle.
A big Spoiler warning here!!
In my opinion, he is relatively wasted as a character and that stands very true to the end of this series. Since he is my favorite character in this series. I love the idea that went into him, I always love twin concepts in fiction and all the symbolism that goes into Muichiro.
I am definitely salty over his death since I do not agree with this decision. Muichiro is the only one to have someone he loved sacrifice his life for him. (In the backstory) furthermore, during his part in the swordsmith village arc, the topic of surviving is a big one. And that everything will be fine afterward. We also find out that Yuichiro in his dying moments prayed for him to survive and live a long and happy life. Muichiro already went through lots of tragedies. From his parents dying without being able to help them at all and then losing his brother to a demon with nothing he could do for him other than holding his hand while he passed away. Then being an amnesiac for 2-3 years after that and ending up dying only 2-3 months after that. There was definitely much more that could have been done with him but was wasted in the end.
Since he took only 2 months of training to raise up to hashira ranks, that means he is subjected to the greatest progress comparatively to all the other characters. What I mean he would make the most progress in 2 months unlike the others, like Tanjiro, Zenisu, and Insosuke. Or even the other Hashira. His growth in strength should be exponentially much larger than the others. Just saying.
I highly doubt that he would slow down in his training at any point in time and since the Infinity Castle arc is 2-3 months later (I could be wrong about that) he must have gotten a lot stronger than in the
In the end, it is very unfortunate that the manga was so fast-paced and not taking its time. It could have been a lot better without feeling like it's being dragged out too much.
At least for me.
The next part will discuss bost Mitsuri and Genya.

Swordsmith Village Arc Review P1
Tumblr media
Warning!!! Not spoiler free!!
Since the anime wrapped up, I thought I would do a long review on how I personally thought this arc was, mainly looking at the plot an not necessarily at the animation.
So, let’s be real here, the Swordsmith village arc, despite its conclusion, was not great at all. It could have been a lot better, had there been more efforts put into the writing.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am not calling anyone out or insulting the creator I am just trying to give constructive criticism and nothing else.
Tumblr media
A big issue here to me is Tanjiro. We spend a lot of time showing his skill set and power-up which is hardly believable. The arc starts after he has been in a 2-month coma. I don’t know how much time has passed until he goes to the village but that hardly can explain his insane amount of progress. His strength feels more plot convenient rather than well presented.
We spent little time on fleshing out and showing the skills of the hashira. Unlike in previous arcs, where we got lots of insight on how strong a hashira can be, with rengoku and Uzui, both Mitsuri and Muichiro are heavily sidelined. On top of that the upper moon Muichiro is battling is hardly any kind of threat, and more efforts went to the upper-moon Tanjiro was battling.
I don’t know what reason was behind the fast pacing, but because of that there was little time spent on a major foe. When all upper-moons are hyped up as hashira killer and being in their position for more than a 100 years then the writer should put some efforts into delivering.
In the end since Tanjiro is the protagonist, he needs the more fleshed out antagonist.
Inherited Memories:
This is another issue. While the idea and concept is actually very interesting it is only used on Tanjiro and conveniently enough he sees just the right ones.
Since Kotetsu can guess what he might be seeing it is safe to assume that it does happen to multiple people and therefore make it odd that only Tanjiro has them.
There are multiple characters with ancestors that knew and interacted with Yoriichi. So again, the inherited memories feel just convenient rather than a well thought out concept.
It is aside from this very ridiculous that Muichiro did not destroy Yoriichi Type 0. All he did was rip off an arm. We established that he is much stronger than Tanjiro, not only through his hashira title but also showing that he is physically stronger. We also know that he does not care about breaking it or not. Yes his sword breaks during training, but he must have still done a ton more damage to that thing.
(I don’t really see much for a reason in Kotetsu crying over this because Yoriichi type 0 is not going to be relevant after this arc, and since the nice kindhearted Tanjiro destroys it. It is fine.)
On a side note, I have watched lots of reactions to this season and I must say it is ridiculous how negatively people thought of Muichiro just because of his bland nature. Like to me Kotetsu was just annoying, you know the typical annoying children animes tend to present you as cute or likable whereas they just are not.
(Besides, I might be the only one but when Tanjiro tried to interject and be again that ‘amazingly’ nice person to stand up for Kotetsu and then got knocked down by Muichiro, it was very satisfying. Since this is the point where I am getting very tired of the endless ‘oh look how nice’ Tanjiro is that the series forces constantly on us.)
Furthermore, this arc while seemingly being about the two hashira is relatively little about them and much more about Tanjiro’s progress. Which is another big issue. Of course, he is the protag and all, but occasionally, focusing on others and giving them time and interest is not a bad idea. It adds a lot of depth to a story.
There is nothing wrong with taking your time and properly showing other characters and what they are like. Your Protag does not make a whole story!! All the characters and concepts added around him is what truly make a story.
Another big issue of this arc is the sword that Tanjiro will receive. It is Yoriichi’s sword but at this point, we don’t know much about him at all and why his sword would be so special. There is no connection that would make us understand why the sword would be so important.
Furthermore, Tanjiro was doing completely fine with the sword he had the whole time, making it even more questionable why he needed the other one. Had there been much more background on the sword one would understand the connection. And had Tanjiro struggled a lot more with the sword he already had one would understand why he needed the other one. In the end, I kept forgetting that he needed a sword at all.
Another issue of this arc is a common Shounen issue and that is writing the arc in a way that the protag finishes off the enemy. For most stories, it hardly makes much sense. there is always a lot of effort put into justifying why the stronger ones cannot do it and too much focus on the mc. This is the second upper moon he decapitates.
Please keep in mind that all this is my own opinion and how I feel a story would be more interesting if you don't agree with this it is completely fine and there is no need to be upset in case you don't like my opinion.^^
