I’ve had to cut people out of my life due to them getting sucked into conspiracy theories like Qanon, so making this video was very therapeutic. I really hope it can help anyone who’s had to walk away from a friend or family member.
The important thing to remember is that the reason people become so possessed by things like Qanon is because they aren’t finding meaning in the real world. This is larger due to the alienation workers experience from being separated from the true value of their labor, and nothing in consumerist capitalism can fill that hole.
Would love to know your thoughts on this video!

I’m not a fan of making female versions of characters instead of making new and original female characters, but Jacks is an interesting character who has a lot of potential to be a break-out character. She’s flawed and fiery and full of self-doubt and driven by determination to prove herself. She’s a complex character, and her particular relationship with Dane Whitman’s Black Knight (spoilers: she’s his daughter), there are a lot of really interesting possibilities for character development and themes in storytelling.
She doesn’t take the mantle of the Black Knight because she sees a man doing it and wants to emulate. She does it because she sees that her biological father needs help and can’t do the job by himself.
I dunno, I’m kind of a big fan of this character already! Check out the video for a full breakdown of her origin and let me know what you think!

I read and loved both of these on this rainy Sunday.
Tom Taylor’s Superman is all about “Truth, Justice, and a Better World” - and already this first issue shows that this series will address things like climate change and wealth inequality. This was a very promising first issue and I can’t wait to see Jon Kent come into his own!
Grant Morrison’s Superman and the Authority is also doing something new with the character: This Superman has been active since well before the 60s, and has been slowly losing his power since the death of JFK. Clark is now an older man looking back on his career as having done nothing meaningful and lasting to save the world. While the superheroes were focused on their own crises, the world kept falling apart. Now Superman enlists people like Manchester Black, a powerful psychic and longtime enemy of this Superman, for one last attempt at addressing the systematic problems of the world.

I loved the first issue of Gerry Duggan’s X-Men that just came out this week! Jonathan Hickman’s time on the title has been great with the sci-fi heady stuff of Dawn of X, but it’s going to be nice to have the title dedicated to following the actions of a specific superhero team, with this iteration of the team consisting of Rogue, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Polaris, Synch, and Wolverine!

Diamond Announces Additional Plans to Celebrate Free Comic Book Day 20th Anniversary
Free Comic Book DayTM (FCBD), one of the comic book industry’s most beloved and anticipated annual events being held this year on August 14, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To commemorate, Diamond Comic Distributors has announced additional plans including a social media campaign and sponsorship partnerships with Coca-Cola and PREVIEWSworld PULLBOX.
Earlier this month, in celebration of Free Comic Book Day’s 20th anniversary, FCBD launched the #FindYourStory social campaign. The campaign encourages readers to explore new worlds, revisit their favorites, and discover new destinations in the pages of a comic book. The cornerstone of the campaign is exclusively designed, art deco style, virtual posters that highlight locales featured in some of the FCBD titles available on August 14. Fans are encouraged to share their all-time favorite and newly discovered comic book destinations on social media and use the hashtag, #FindYourStory.
PULLBOX and Coca-Cola have also joined FCBD’s anniversary celebrations this year as sponsors. Coca-Cola will serve as the Presenting Sponsor and be featured on printed promotional materials and branded merchandise distributed to local comic shops in advance of the event. PULLBOX, which launched earlier this month, is a new service that allows comic shop customers to easily manage their preorders and subscriptions online in partnership with their local comic book shop.
Previously announced plans for the anniversary celebration include a specially designed anniversary logo and commemorative artwork from fan-favorite creator, Skottie Young. Young has created a one-of-a-kind design emphasizing the power of imagination and the endless possibilities of comic storytelling. The design will serve as the commemorative t-shirt and poster for FCBD 2021 and will be available for purchase at participating local comics shops.
With fifty comic book titles that range from superheroes to movies and video games, to beloved franchises, and all-ages favorites, Free Comic Book Day 2021 is poised to attract readers and fans of all tastes to participating local comic shops on August 14.

One big quirky family.
All-Might looks super weird without the shadows on his face, and I think his head is too small. Not much articulation on these figures, but the details on Midoriya and Bakugou are pretty great!
In the background is Weekly Shonen Jump 32, the first appearance of Boku No Hero Academia!
My first post on Tumblr! Mostly will be posting about comics, but My Hero and other anime/manga will sneak in too!
I am here!
