i literally cant stop thinking about mari lol. like how she's glorified so much by sunny and the others and put on this pedastal like she was fucking god's gift to earth when she was really just a fifteen year old perfectionist who was probably pushing herself way too hard.

it's like in life she was glorified and in death she's idealized--she never gets the chance to just be herself. sometimes i think about hero and how he feels about her and how he's still hung up on her after all of those years, and i wonder how much of herself she was really showing him. it's like her whole life was seemed so perfect with the nuclear family and the boy next door and the grades and the talent, but that's not what makes up a person.

who even was mari? to us, she's defined by the perfect version sunny construes in headspace, and that's about it. we see pictures and fleeting moments, but that's not what life is. and i think sunny telling the truth, leaving the idealized world of headspace behind, facing life as ugly and shitty as it is then choosing to move forward is so powerful. it's like he's doing what mari didn't get the chance to.
