Why haven鈥檛 we already created androids or normalized the presence of human-like technology? Do machines that resemble humans make us uncomfortable?

Will Gravity Work Tomorrow?
Tumblr media
Gravity works today, and it has worked literally every other day in the past, so it will work tomorrow. Right?
Tumblr media
The 18th-century philosopher, David Hume, reasoned that there is no logical way to conclude that gravity must work tomorrow.
Tumblr media
This is because the laws of physics do not causally necessitate their continuation in the future. By this I mean that we have scientific measurements that gravity worked in the past, and we can measure that gravity works right now, but there is absolutely no experiment, nothing within the scientific method, that can prove that gravity will work tomorrow.
Tumblr media
As humans, we use induction, it is helpful for us to assume that gravity will always act the same way in the future. But, induction doesn鈥檛 give us certainty.
Tumblr media
The problem of induction:
How can we rationally justify that the laws of physics will be the same throughout time? If this is impossible for the scientific method to prove then perhaps the laws of physics are not uniform.
What do you think?

Phenomenon
Tumblr media
Phenomena are the experiences which make up reality. The point of science is to understand and explain these phenomena, for example, that gravity holds us to the earth.
Tumblr media
reality is made up of phenomena
Well, if, one day, science were to explain and fully understand all phenomena, then would we fully understand all of reality?
Tumblr media
Let鈥檚 think about this.
The question of whether phenomena depicts all of reality depends entirely upon whether there is anything more to life than phenomena. By this I mean whether there exists something about nature that can鈥檛 be detected or experienced by any human being and which can鈥檛 be explained or described by any mathematics or any science no matter how advanced we are.
Tumblr media
So will we be able to fully understand reality?
What do you think?
