You've probably been asked this before, but how do you color the pages? Do you have a tutorial for it?

i really gotta make one!! i use sai for the coloring and shading and then photoshop for the touchups. i’ve actually filmed myself coloring a lot, but i’ve only published one speedpaint (which u can find here if you want to watch it. i have like 3 other videos made but just havent put them up bc i dont know if it’s something that’s helpful/interesting? also it’s hard to find music that wont get me strikes on youtube)

i’ll try to do a more in-depth/interesting tutorial someday, but here’s kinda a brief one with pictures!

so here’s my workspace. this is the first version of sai. on the left, you can see my color palette, which is kinda a mess, but here’s the general rundown of it:

i crop the picture i want. sometimes, i redraw stuff. sometimes, i draw stuff in. i’ve added shinsou to panels once or twice or extended panels so that there’s more in there. i guess ill probably cover panel editing in the more extensive tutorial i do, but if you watch the video i linked, i drew in about half of that panel. 

anyways, then i make all the white transparent. i do this with the luminescence–>transparency option in sai. gimp has this option too, called color–>alpha. photoshop can do it too, but i cant remember how.

this turns all the black/grey into lineart and lets you color under it. it’s really neat

next, i start laying out the base colors. this is my least favorite part of the process and personally, because im usually confident with my shading to do it quickly, the base colors take the longest, especially on images with a lot of background stuff.

August 21st is Fanfic Writer’s Appreciation Day  💕

Let’s be honest - we all forget to leave a comment sometimes. We don’t always go out of our way to click the “come talk to me on tumblr” link on AO3 to scream about the fic in the author’s inbox. On August 21st I encourage you to take a moment and show fanfic writers that you appreciate them!

How can you do it?

leave a comment and kudos on every fic you finish reading. Doesn’t matter how short. Doesn’t matter if you’re just repeating what other people have already said. Just be kind! Keysmashing, Caps Lock, and live commenting appreciated! (Bonus points if you leave a comment on every chapter)

ideas for what to put in a comment: one | two

floaty review box for ao3 (super useful for commenting as you read + it has a ‘review tips’ button if you feel stuck)

reblog ficlets, drabbles, fics, fic rec posts, etc. Put a nice comment in the tags. Remember that likes, while appreciated, don’t give the writer any exposure, meaning the posts don’t reach more people

go to your local fanfic writer’s inbox and talk to them about their fic of your choice. Let them know how long ago you’ve read it and what story point/sentence/scene still makes you smile when you think about it

send thank you messages to fic writers. In a world where you have to pay for almost everything, they’re supplying you with countless hours of free entertainment. It can get quite lonely without getting messages acknowledging the hours they spend writing stories - let them know their time and effort is appreciated

make fic rec posts and @ the authors whose fics you’re recommending! (believe me, fic writers love to see their stories in these posts)

create something inspired by a fic! You can draw fanart, make a moodboard or aesthetic post, or even write a song for the fic you love. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro doesn’t matter - the thought alone is what counts more than anything <3

buy the writer a coffee if they have a ko-fi page and you have some change lying around c: Caffeine keeps most fic writers awake when they struggle with a particularly slow draft or a difficult scene. More coffee, more content.

A/N: I am beyond excited to share, what I dare say is, my current best piece with you! I even teared up a couple of times while writing it! Anon requested a scenario in which the reader is jealous of Todoroki and Momo. What I love the most about it is writing not just the blooming of a relationship, but the flourishment of a true friendship as well! I am hoping with my whole heart that you guys love this as much as I did writing it!

Reader always leaves notes with kind messages in Todoroki’s shoe locker, silently pining for him. But bottling up your emotions is never a good thing and during class, her emotions reach a peak. The reason for it is how inferior she feels to Momo, who is always by his side. The deputy class representative being the amazing person she is, takes care of the reader and helps her confess to Todoroki.

Bakubabe

It had been an absolutely horrible day to Bakugou. It wasn’t because he was proposing to (y/n). If anything that was like— the highlight of his life! but, Denki almost ruined the whole thing.

See, Bakugou had decided to enlist the help of the rest of the Bakusquad with making the day absolutely perfect. Mina and Sero were going distract (y/n) and keep her out of the house, while the other two helped Bakugou make the dinner he was preparing absolutely fucking perfect and if they didn’t he was gonna burn them to a crisp. Well, halfway through making dinner, Denki managed to light bakugou’s stove on fire. They managed to get the fire out, but now Bakugou’s stove was pretty much ruined, the dinner was ruined, and the kitchen had a burned scent to it. Also meant that Bakugou’s dream proposal was absolutely ruined.

From here, Bakugou was a loss. He had no idea what to do. Everything had been planned to a perfect T. But Denki just happened to ruin everything. Luckily, Kirishima had a plan. They set out to the nearest park and set up a cute little picnic for the two of them. Once it was to Bakugou’s liking, he texted Mina to bring (y/n) to the park.

As (y/n) walked to the park with Mina and Sero, she spotted Bakugou very quickly. A soft gasp left her lips as she looked at the scenery. The wind was slightly blowing, making cherry blossoms gently flow around. The boys had set up fairy lights and a big, cozy blanket with a little basket of food on top of it. In the middle of it stood Bakugou, who was dressed up in some slightly fancy clothes. As (y/n) got closer, Bakugou got down onto one knee, pulling out a small box from his pocket.

“Will you marry me, ya nerd?”

and if bakugou killed denki because of his mistake, we will never know

bonus: “babe, why does the kitchen smell burnt?”

The day had been absolutely amazing in Todoroki’s eyes. The couple had spent the whole day doing what Todoroki had planned for the day. Of course, (y/n) had known that Todoroki was planning a big day for the two of them. But she was oblivious to what was actually gonna happen.

First, Todoroki decided to wake up his beloved with breakfast in bed. He’d seen it on the internet, and thought it was something sweet that he could do to kick off their day. Once they’d finished eating breakfast and getting ready for the day, Todoroki had taken his lover ice-skating. It was a beautiful day in the middle of winter, so the couple went to an outdoor skating rink. Todoroki had seen this on a website, and thought that the two of them would enjoy doing this. Well, maybe (y/n) didn’t enjoy it as much. See, Todoroki was a natural on the ice. And, (y/n) wasn’t as good. So, Todoroki had to help her learn, which meant that (y/n) fell a lot. But once (y/n) got the hang of it, the couple skated together flawlessly. Todorok made sure they went to a cute, little café after they finished ice-skating, so that the two of them could warm up and enjoy warm cups of tea. They also grabbed a small lunch there, since Todoroki had a reservation for a nice place for their dinner. After an hour, they headed back to the house, deciding to just chill out together until they had to get ready for their dinner date.

After a couple of hours, the two headed on their way to the restaurant. Once they were seated, Todoroki almost immediately excused himself to use the restroom. He then headed to the host, and asked him to put the ring on (y/f/c) that they would order for dessert. Todoroki then headed back to their table, giving (y/n) a soft smile as he sat down. Dinner quickly passed, and dessert quickly became a topic at their table. (y/n) ordered (y/f/c) and Todoroki decided to order some classic cheesecake.

As the desert came out, Todoroki eyed her plate, making sure the ring was on the plate. Once he was sure of it, he got out of his seat before getting down onto one knee.

“(l/n) (y/n), I would be honored if you married me.”

Kirishima may have had slight little mix up with his seemingly perfect plan to propose to (y/n), but he wasn’t too angry about it. if anything, he thought that there wouldn’t have been a better way to have proposed to (y/n).

Kirishima had decided to take you to the beach, and propose to you as the sun set in the distance. He thought it would be so romantic and manly if he did it like that. Plus, he felt that the two of them deserved a break. As pro-heroes, the couple never really had much time to themselves, much less time to relax. So he thought it would also be a good idea to go to a pro-hero beach only, so that the two of them could really relax together. However, his idea didn’t go exactly as he had planned it to.

Kirishima and (y/n) had  woken up early so that they could get to the beach early, wanting to get signed into their hotel so that they could get started on their fun-filled day at the beach. After they finished getting their stuff settled, they rushed to the beach. The couple spent their whole day on the beach. First, they instantly got into the ocean, splashing around in the cool water. They then decided to play some 1v1 beach volleyball, along with some more beach games. As it got closer to the time that Kirishima had wanted to propose, the two were closer to passing out from all their activities from the day. They were so tired that they ended up falling asleep under their umbrella for an hour or two. By the time they had woken up, the stars were shining bright above them. Kirishima chuckled slightly to himself, which made (y/n) look over at him in confusion before asking what was wrong. The spiky redhead simply smiled gently at her before reaching into a compartment of their beach bag, producing a small, velvet box. He then opened it up, revealing a ring.

“I had originally planned on proposing while the sun was going down, but honestly… I think this is way better. So, (y/n)… Will you marry me?”
